• 1:01
let's kick off our Super Bowl adventure.
• 1:03
Let's start with the basics. What is the Super Bowl?
• 1:07
The Super Bowl is the championship game of the
• 1:09
National Football League, or NFL for short.
• 1:13
It's the game that decides which football team is the best in the
• 1:16
league for that season. Every year, millions of people
• 1:20
all over the United States and even in other countries TuneIn
• 1:24
to watch the Super Bowl. It's more than just a football
• 1:27
game. It's a huge event with music
• 1:29
performances, funny commercials and parties with lots of snacks
• 1:33
like pizza and chips. But how'd the Super Bowl get
• 1:37
started? To answer that, we have to go
• 1:39
back in history all the way to the 1960s.
• 1:42
Back then, there were two separate football leagues in the
• 1:45
United States. One was called the National
• 1:47
Football League or NFL, and the other was the American Football
• 1:51
League or AFL. These two leagues were rivals,
• 1:55
which means they competed against each other and wanted to
• 1:58
be the best. In 1966, the leaders of the NFL
• 2:03
and AFL decided to have their best teams play against each
• 2:06
other to see who is truly number one.
• 2:09
This special championship game was called the AFLNFL World
• 2:13
Championship Game. Lamar Hunt, owner of the AF LS
• 2:17
Kansas City Chiefs, jokingly suggested calling it the Super
• 2:21
Bowl, and the name was used by sports writers before the first
• 2:24
game, even though it became the official name starting with
• 2:27
Super Bowl 3. The very first Super Bowl was
• 2:31
played in January 1967. Here's a fun fact.
• 2:35
The first Super Bowl tickets only cost about $12.00.
• 2:39
Today, tickets can cost thousands of dollars.
• 2:42
That's a big change right Now. Let's talk about the history of
• 2:46
the Super Bowl itself. The very first Super Bowl was
• 2:49
played between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City
• 2:52
Chiefs at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
• 2:56
The Packers won and the final score was 35 to 10.
• 3:00
Back then, not as many people watched the Super Bowl as they
• 3:03
do today, but over the years, the game became more and more
• 3:07
popular. Now it's the most watched
• 3:10
television event in the United States every year.
• 3:14
Over time, the Super Bowl became more than just a football game.
• 3:18
It started to include big musical performances, especially
• 3:22
at halftime. The halftime show is a huge part
• 3:25
of the Super Bowl. Today, famous singers and bands
• 3:28
perform on a giant stage and people look forward to it almost
• 3:32
as much as the game itself. Some of the most famous halftime
• 3:36
shows featured artists like Michael Jackson, Beyoncé,
• 3:40
Shakira, and The Weekend. Here's a quick question for you.
• 3:43
Do you know which Super Bowl halftime show had the most
• 3:46
  viewers ever? Take a guess?
• 3:51
The answer is Super Bowl 49. In 2015 when Katy Perry
• 3:56
performed, over 118 million people watched her halftime
• 4:00
  show. Besides the halftime show,
• 4:03
another thing that makes the Super Bowl special is the
• 4:06
commercials. Companies want to show their ads
• 4:08
during the Super Bowl because so many people are watching.
• 4:12
These commercials are often funny, creative, and sometimes
• 4:16
even include animals or famous actors.
• 4:19
Some people even say they watch the Super Bowl just for the
• 4:22
commercials. Now let's Fast forward to Super
• 4:25
Bowl 2026. This will be Super Bowl #60
• 4:29
which is written as Super Bowl 60 in Roman numerals.
• 4:33
It's a big milestone because the Super Bowl has been going on for
• 4:37
six decades. Super Bowl 2026 is planned to be
• 4:41
held at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
• 4:45
That's the home stadium of the San Francisco 49ers football
• 4:48
  team. This year.
• 4:50
The two teams that have battled their way to the top are the New
• 4:53
England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
• 4:56
This is a very exciting matchup because it's a rematch of a
• 5:00
famous game from 11 years ago. Everyone is waiting to see who
• 5:04
will take home the trophy this time.
• 5:07
Levi's Stadium is really modern and can fit over 68,000 fans.
• 5:12
It has huge video screens, lots of seats, and even special areas
• 5:17
for families. The stadium is not too far from
• 5:20
places like San Jose and San Francisco, so it's in a great
• 5:24
spot for fans to visit. Here's a did you know moment.
• 5:28
Super Bowl 2026 will be the first Super Bowl played after
• 5:31
the United States hosts the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
• 5:36
That means the US will have two giant sports events in the same
• 5:39
year. Let's see if you can guess this
• 5:41
one. Which city has hosted the most
• 5:43
Super Bowls so far? The answer is Miami, FL.
• 5:51
The city of Miami has hosted the Super Bowl 11 times.
• 5:55
Now. You might be wondering, how do
• 5:57
teams get to play in the Super Bowl?
• 5:59
Every football season, 32 teams try to win enough games to make
• 6:04
it to the playoffs. The playoffs are like a
• 6:06
tournament where the best teams from each conference, AFC and
• 6:11
NFC play to see who will go to the Super Bowl.
• 6:14
Only two teams make it and it's a huge honor to play in the
• 6:18
championship game. Here's another quick question.
• 6:22
Do you think any team has ever won the Super Bowl 3 times in a
• 6:25
  row? Yes or no?
• 6:30
The answer is no. No team has ever won three Super
• 6:34
Bowls in a row. Some teams have won two in a
• 6:37
row, but never 3. Let's talk about some Super Bowl
• 6:41
traditions. One classic tradition is the
• 6:43
Super Bowl party. Friends and families gathered
• 6:47
together to watch the game, eat tasty food, and cheer for their
• 6:51
favorite team. Snacks like nachos, chicken
• 6:54
wings, and dips are very popular during the Super Bowl.
• 6:58
In fact, Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest days for
• 7:01
eating pizza and chicken wings in the United States.
• 7:05
Another tradition is the Super Bowl trophy called the Vince
• 7:08
Lombardi Trophy. It's named after a famous
• 7:11
football coach who won the 1st 2 Super Bowls with the Green Bay
• 7:14
Packers. The trophy is made of sterling
• 7:17
silver and weighs about 7 lbs. Each year, the winning team gets
• 7:22
to keep the trophy and each player receives a special Super
• 7:26
Bowl ring. Did you know that the rings are
• 7:28
custom made for every player and coach on the winning team?
• 7:31
They are decorated with diamonds and the team's logo.
• 7:35
Some people collect Super Bowl rings as a hobby.
• 7:38
Now here's a trivia question. Do you know which quarterback
• 7:41
has won the most Super Bowls? Think about it.
• 7:47
The answer is Tom Brady. He has won seven Super Bowls
• 7:51
during his career. The Super Bowl also help support
• 7:55
charities and communities. Every year, the NFL and its
• 8:00
teams work with local groups to make a positive impact in the
• 8:03
city where the game is played. They might build playgrounds,
• 8:07
help schools or provide meals for people in need.
• 8:10
Let's try another yes or no question.
• 8:13
Has the Super Bowl ever been played outside the United
• 8:15
  States? Yes or no?
• 8:21
The answer is no. Every Super Bowl has been played
• 8:24
in the United States. Now let's look ahead to Super
• 8:28
Bowl 2026 again. With the Patriots and the
• 8:31
Seahawks ready to play, there is already a lot of excitement.
• 8:35
Fans will travel from all over to see the game.
• 8:38
There will be a big halftime show featuring artists like Bad
• 8:41
Bunny, amazing commercials, and lots of delicious food.
• 8:45
Super Bowl 2026 is also special because it continues a long
• 8:50
  tradition of bringing people together.
• 8:52
Whether you are a huge football fan or just like to watch the
• 8:56
halftime show, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
• 9:00
Here's one last trivia question for you.
• 9:02

• 9:05
game? The answer is about 120
• 9:11
