I do want to spend a minute or two talking about podcasting with you.

I said to this to the folks who were in the pre-show that, um, Apple...

and YouTube and Spotify are conspiring to ruin

podcasting. And I'm doing it to try to fight back.

But the original intent of podcasting was supposed to be a distributed way of

sending communication that was not controllable by a central body.

The original idea and the idea that the creator would create an audio file that

contained their podcast like a three basically but they would catalog the

episode title and the subject and the number episode in something called an RSS

file an RSS file is just a text file that indicates a list of episodes,

numbers and numbers and the link to where you can find the mp3 file and the RSS

It goes back to Usenet, right?

With the old news groups and everything, those old RSS feeds were distributed

around the world so that there was a copy of the RSS file all over the internet.

And there was no one single place where some company could they didn't like your

message and shut you down and delete your channel and delete all your content.

So the original true podcasting method was

non-destructable and non-controllable and it allowed creators a complete free

speech because it was a distributed model.

Their podcast was truly spread out across the internet.

What's happened now is podcasting got really popular in the past five years.

Obviously with the rise of people like Joe Rogan and Nick Fuentes and some of

the other more popular podcasts out there, I

him from Spotify and if they pulled him off there was nothing he could have done

because his podcast was really just a bunch of video files.

He was basically a Spotify broadcaster not a podcaster.

So YouTube is doing the same thing.

this to be a podcast according to YouTube's idea of podcast, but it's not

spread out over the entire internet and if YouTube decides they don't like your
