  I watch the Elvis movie it reminded me a lot of myself

  whenever I was younger man. You get to watch all this, go

  from a child to a teenager, all the way through his adult career

  and then finally he ends up dying at 42 years.

  So and the reason why he died because all the people that he
• 0:39
  loved all the people, he cared, including his own fans, wanted
• 0:43
  so much from him that I got to a point where some people felt
• 0:47
  that in order to protect them. They would have to protect him
• 0:51
  from his own self and his own ideas.
• 0:55
  In fact, his own manager attempted to try to tame Elvis,
• 1:00
  tried to bring him down to earth Elvis, had so many Current ideas
• 1:06
  and so many things he wanted to accomplish and he was quick to
• 1:10
  say that. It was because of God and it was
• 1:12
  due to prayer. The reason why he was in the
• 1:15
  position, said he was, it clearly shows that the very
• 1:18
  beginning of the movie that his Inspirations come from black
• 1:22
  spirituality and being a part of black churches and seeing how
• 1:26
  they really get down and dirty and the church, how they jump
• 1:31
  around and they get spiritual, and they get out of fide and all
• 1:34
  that. What a lot of Pentecostals call
• 1:37
  getting into the spirit, he got everything he wanted.
• 1:42
  Of course, it was a lot of things that didn't go his way,
• 1:45
  just like it. Does for everybody, it rains on
• 1:48
  the just and the unjust, but in the end, he started writing
• 1:53
  songs about feeling like he was in a cage.

  Like he'd built a prison for himself that he just simply
• 1:59
  couldn't get out of. And I get to thinking of myself
• 2:03
  and I think of people like Kurt Cobain Cobain Jim Morrison,
• 2:07
  Randy Rhoads. And a lot of the Great's out
• 2:10
  there who are legendary, they all died, horribly, they all
• 2:14
  died. Terribly.
• 2:15
  Many of them didn't even get the opportunity to say goodbye to
• 2:19
  their loved ones. Many of them because they put
• 2:22
  their music and their dreams ahead of those that they loved.
• 2:27
  A lot of these people would end up divorced.
• 2:30
  They would end up without people in their lives and they would
• 2:33
  end up paranoid wondering. Was there a real friend who was
• 2:37
  really there? It's pretty clear when you watch
• 2:41
  any documentaries of Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, or Elvis
• 2:45
  Presley that these people were extremely lonely.
• 2:49
  And their only real Outlet was that two hours that they got out
• 2:54
  on stage that they were lucky where they got a bunch of
• 2:57
  strangers, screaming their name and telling them how beautiful
• 3:01
  wonderful they are. However, if someone like Kurt
• 3:05
  Cobain, Albania, Elvis Presley. Jim Morrison are any legendary
• 3:09
  person that you ever thought of? If they ever took these
• 3:12
  strangers backstage, the strangers would know nothing
• 3:16
  about who they really are. As a person, they would know
• 3:20
  nothing about their interest, their Hobbies who they are,
• 3:25
  whenever they're not in the studio, when they're not on
• 3:27
  stage and it would probably be not only jarring for the
• 3:32
  celebrity, but jarring. Also, for the Fan them self
• 3:37
  thinking and having an image of somebody that just simply was
• 3:40
  false untrue. It's one of the things that
• 3:45
  Humanity has a problem with whenever it comes to anybody.
• 3:49
  We always think that our Dream woman is going to be this or
• 3:53
  that if we were to get signed with this label, or if this were
• 3:57
  to happen, then everything in our life, will be complete,
• 4:02
  everything will be great and wonderful.
• 4:05
  I Can't tell you how many times growing up throughout the 80s
• 4:08
  and the 90s, which I personally think is the best music are that
• 4:12
  ever existed where you want cheese men and women on
• 4:15
  television, just rock out to the gods and then then the end you
• 4:21
  see documentaries of them when they're older they're not as
• 4:23
  beautiful. They're not as attractive as
• 4:26
  before they don't look like angels for Help From Heaven.
• 4:30
  They don't look like the masterpieces.
• 4:32
  They used to be talking about all the losses.
• 4:35
  All the damage, all the times, they were sued all the times
• 4:39
  that the newspapers made them look like idiots.
• 4:43
  And I got to thinking to myself, what if God had allowed some of
• 4:48
  my own prayers to go through? See one of the things I wanted
• 4:52
  whenever I was a kid was I wanted to be a big rock star.
• 4:56
  I couldn't help it coming from a family where I didn't feel loved
• 5:01
  where I didn't feel like anyone was interested in my ideas or my
• 5:05
  thigh. Thoughts or my dreams the idea
• 5:07
  of being in front of a million. People never even realizing the
• 5:12
  consequences in the sacrifices. All I knew was, when I watch TV,
• 5:18
  the TV gave me this false illusion and false Idols to
• 5:22
  worship thinking, that's who I want to be.
• 5:26
  That's what I want to do. Never realizing the work that
• 5:30
  goes into it. The losses that can happen the
• 5:33
  damage. Take Of Burton, for example, all
• 5:37
  his life. He wanted to be a great bass
• 5:39
  player. He gets on the road with the
• 5:42
  band Metallica and then the next thing he knows he's dead.
• 5:46
  Everything that he could have possibly wanted is gone.
• 5:50
  Of course, his name will be remembered for the next hundred
• 5:53
  years. But what does that really even
• 5:56
  matter? Is that really what matters to
• 5:59
  life being known when you're dead?
• 6:03
  Does being alive mean that you're just simply to be
• 6:07
  successful? Do you have to be a program to
• 6:10
  robot just to do what everybody wants?
• 6:14
  Because there Comes A Time in your life where you will get
• 6:17
  tired, you will get weary you will break down.
• 6:23
  There's no getting out of it. Time is the light that burns?
• 6:27
  It's it really is, there will come a moment and unfortunately
• 6:35
  in order to go out in the road and be a rock, God like Elvis
• 6:38
  Presley, you have to give up everything your wife and your
• 6:42
  children, can't follow you to ever.
• 6:44
  Even knew your children can't live in motel rooms, you have to
• 6:50
  choose. Do you want to be what some
• 6:52
  would call a Layman average father who's always home for
• 6:57
  your kid? Kids always there to try to help
• 7:00
  them with their homework or be completely astonished that they
• 7:03
  seem to know more about their homework than you do.

  To see your children. Walk through the first time to
• 7:10
  see your children, be able to say mama or daddy for the first
• 7:15
  time. Or does it mean that much for
• 7:19
  you to have 30 classic golden hits or golden records on a wall
• 7:26
  that you will most likely never even look at?
• 7:28
  Because you'll be too busy, right?
• 7:31
  New stuff trying to survive in the jungle of the music,
• 7:34
  business, or television, or whatever you find yourself.
• 7:39
  In as a child, I wanted all these things.

  I didn't know what it was like for Elvis whenever he was a kid.
• 7:45
  I didn't know nothing about I didn't know what Jim Morrison or
• 7:49
  Kurt Cobain went through. I don't I didn't know what half
• 7:53
  the rappers or rockers or celebrities.
• 7:55
  I never watch who they truly were.
• 7:57
  I was a stranger in the audience, just seeing the
• 8:01
  lights, and the cameras and thinking how exciting it was,
• 8:04
  not realizing how hot those lights, get that realizing the
• 8:09
  business side of it in the aggravation.
• 8:13
  And when I think about it, now at 45 years old, I'm going to be
• 8:17
  46. Come Christmas.

  I don't think I would have been able to handle it.
• 8:24
  Because I wasn't that guy on the stage and I definitely wasn't
• 8:28
  the guy off stage or woman. I think that I probably would
• 8:33
  have been one of those people that died.

  Very young, I probably would have got mentioned, maybe had my
• 8:39
  face on a magazine but then I come to think about it.
• 8:43
  Is that really what I wanted? I probably would have been ended
• 8:47
  up being that guy who struggled to fight between going out and
• 8:51
  doing my dream and also, Care of a family at the same time and I
• 8:57
  probably would have been so painful to be told on the phone,

  I'm sorry, but I'm leaving you. I can no longer continue to be
• 9:05
  with you because when someone marries you and you become
• 9:11
  successful to the point where you can't even be around, no
• 9:14
  more sooner or later, that woman or man, is going to become used
• 9:18
  to living without you. They're going to learn that.
• 9:23
  There's other things going. Going on in life, besides your
• 9:26
  dreams and your wants and your desires.
• 9:29
  I don't think I could have made it.
• 9:32
  I don't think that I have the balls to go do crazy stuff.
• 9:38
  I know that and I knew back then that I had it, but For some
• 9:44
  reason, God decided that maybe I'll live a longer healthier
• 9:48
  life. If I simply find someone that I
• 9:53
  can trust someone that can hold me at night, someone, I can hold
• 9:57
  back. Maybe that's what God does
• 10:02
  whenever he doesn't listen to or seemingly listen to our prayers
• 10:07
  sometimes, or doesn't allow it because he has something better
• 10:11
  in store. A lot of people, they don't look
• 10:14
  at a father or a man and go. Oh, he's greater wonderful
• 10:18
  because they're always looking at a False Image.
• 10:21
  The thing about an actual man and an actual father is, there's
• 10:26
  nothing hidden. You know.
• 10:29
  Okay, so this is a guy, he seems pretty cool and he takes care of
• 10:34
  his kids and drives a fucking minivan.
• 10:37
  He's not all that. That's how some people think.
• 10:41
  Well, I can tell you this. when you bring life into the world,
• 10:47
  it's the greatest thing that God could ever give you when you
• 10:52
  lose your virginity and fall in love, and you stay with the
• 10:57
  person that you been with, since you were young, And watch them
• 11:05
  grow with you and you do things together.
• 11:11
  It's one of the most fantastic things that life could ever give
• 11:15
  you. And trust me, whether you're the
• 11:19
  father, driving, the minivan, or your Elvis Presley, it gets to a
• 11:25
  point where you sooner or later start breaking down.
• 11:28
  You start suffering, all the things you did as a child, come
• 11:32
  back on you. No matter what you end up in
• 11:35
  life, you're going to feel your heart, get heavy.
• 11:39
  You're going to feel your bones, crack going places.
• 11:42
  You never even thought possible everybody, no matter who they
• 11:47
  are, whether they're Kurt, Cobain or they're just some
• 11:49
  depressed person watching TV. They're all going to have their
• 11:55
  pains and suffers, but ask yourself does. when you are
• 12:00
  getting ready to take your last breath, when you're getting
• 12:03
  ready to leave the world, Would you rather have God by your
• 12:08
  side? Would you rather have the woman
• 12:11
  that you loved? All your life are the kids.
• 12:15
  Who hold your hand just as you're about to lead the world
• 12:18
  people that you trust. Or do you want a manager an
• 12:22
  agent, hold in your hand and telling you well your wife, if
• 12:27
  you're still married has to travel halfway across the world
• 12:31
  to see you. And most likely she won't get
• 12:32
  here in time. That's if your marriage managed
• 12:37
  to survive. The hell is dreams that you put
• 12:40
  upon yourself. One of the last songs that I
• 12:44
  love us Presley, sung was Unchained Melody.
• 12:48
  It's a song about being alone and wishing that you made
• 12:51
  different decisions and that you could be with that person, but
• 12:56
  it just never does never happens.
• 12:59
  And I guess one of the reasons why their songs have beautiful
• 13:02
  is because there's so many people who've taken their
• 13:05
  opportunities, and they've made different decisions.
• 13:09
  And now, that's the end of their life.
• 13:12
  One of the last scenes in the movie was very telling about
• 13:15
  Elvis Presley, as he fell to the ground and he could barely stand
• 13:20
  on his feet anymore because the music industry and the fans and
• 13:24
  everything was getting to him. His manager said whatever you
• 13:30
  do, make sure this man gets back on stage.
• 13:34
  He has to have that image. He has to do what he needs to
• 13:39
  do. And then they had a doctor, pull
• 13:43
  out a shot injected him with drugs.
• 13:47
  And he was no longer eldest anymore and now he was a zombie
• 13:51
  dancing to the beat dancing to the stream and, of course
• 13:56
  shortly after he was dead. So sometimes there's more to
• 14:04
  life. Than a dream.
• 14:08
  Sometimes reality can be just as beautiful, sometimes, if you
• 14:14
  accept the right people in your life, sometimes, if you love the
• 14:17
  right people and you commit yourself to them, you'll have
• 14:21
  everything you could possibly want.
• 14:24
  Luckily, for me, I had a plan B. If music didn't work out, if
• 14:31
  writing books, didn't work out, if becoming a game developer,
• 14:36
  something like that didn't work. Check out or some of the many,
• 14:39
  many high Ambitions. I had, as long as I had a
• 14:43
  wonderful family. As long as I had a good wife,
• 14:48
  good kids. Then as far as I was concerned,
• 14:52
  I succeeded at everything that meant anything in this world.
