- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. One of Jeffrey Epstein's closest friends, one of
- 0:07his closest confidants, was, no doubt, Larry Summers. And up
- 0:12until this point, Larry Summers had been able to navigate
- 0:16the choppy waters that have been caused by the Epstein
- 0:19malstrom and he's been able to keep himself afloat. Well,
- 0:25that all ended today as it's been announced that Larry
- 0:28Summers is resigning as the university professor at Harvard. Now,
- 0:35his relationship with Epstein isn't something that is, you know,
- 0:38brand new. We've known about Larry Summers and his relationship
- 0:42with Epstein for a very long time. But now with
- 0:46all the emails backing up what people were saying, his
- 0:49denials become bull And I think this is the pattern
- 0:53that we're seeing time and time again. All these people
- 0:56that denied their relationships with Epstein are all being out
- 1:00as liars, and that includes people like Elon Musk as well.
- 1:04You know, he has a real big mouth, doesn't he. Oh,
- 1:06I'll pay for the lawyer of anyone who wants to
- 1:09come out and name so and so. Yeah, sure, buddy,
- 1:12probably some kind of syh op to get information about
- 1:15people who are making allegations so you and your friends
- 1:19can quash them. And I hate to be cynical, but
- 1:22I'm only half joking when I say that, Like, does
- 1:25anybody really trust people like Larry Summers or Elon Musk?
- 1:31I know I don't, And now that the receipts are
- 1:34here to back up what people have said, Larry Summers
- 1:37has no choice but to tuck tail and run. And
- 1:41guess what, I don't feel bad about it. I don't
- 1:43feel bad for one second. This dude knew exactly what
- 1:46was going on for all these years, never came forward,
- 1:49never offered himself up to the investigators to say, hey,
- 1:52look I was around Jeffrey. I might have seen something.
- 1:55Did he do any of that? No? Right, So why
- 1:58shouldn't Larry Summers lose his job? I mean, that's what
- 2:00they're saying about all the young girls. Oh well, she
- 2:02was a trafficker. Doesn't matter that she was groomed when
- 2:06she was fourteen, she became eighteen and she kept doing it.
- 2:10Isn't that what they say? Isn't that the argument that's
- 2:12being made by the same people who think that we
- 2:14should be mad and sad that someone like Larry Summers
- 2:18ended up losing their job. As they sit here and
- 2:20try and call people traffickers and all kinds of hainiush
- 2:23shit without any context, without any nuance, it's straight up absurd.
- 2:29Imagine being more critical of the people who were abused
- 2:32than the people that actually did the abusing or the enabling,
- 2:35because for some people, those are the folks who are
- 2:38the actual victims. Because you know, this is all just
- 2:41a moral panic and it's all over blown, and the
- 2:44evidence they have to back that up is exactly none. Meanwhile,
- 2:48on the other side of the argument, how many people
- 2:50have paid settlements, how many people have lost their jobs,
- 2:53how many people have been arrested, But sure keep telling
- 2:57us it's all over blown and there's nothing to see here.
- 3:01I want you to take note of all the people
- 3:02doing that that way, later on down the road, we
- 3:06can give them the kind of ball breaking that they
- 3:08deserve for being so wrong when it comes to this story.
- 3:13And you know what, a lot of those people that
- 3:15are Epstein denihilists. I think the reason that they're acting
- 3:19so contrarian is because they missed it. They had a
- 3:24blind spot to the story, and now they want to
- 3:26play it down because they weren't there from the jump,
- 3:28so of course, since they missed it, it really can't
- 3:31be that big of a story, and that leads to
- 3:34them trying to demean it, and of course that always
- 3:37ends up with them attacking the survivors. But these institutions,
- 3:42these lawsuits, tell us a whole different story, don't they
- 3:45headlined Larry Summers to resign as Harvard University professor amid
- 3:50Epstein fallout. This article was authored by Daniel Arkin. Larry Summers,
- 3:56the former Treasury Secretary and noted economist, announced Wednesday he
- 4:01plans to resign from his role as a tenured professor
- 4:04at Harvard University, a move that comes amid growing scrutiny
- 4:08of his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Mind you,
- 4:12he's tenured, so you got to think that he's facing
- 4:17a lot of pressure to make this move. He doesn't
- 4:19have to. As a tenured professor, you have a lot
- 4:23of room to do whatever you want. But he understands
- 4:27that this is a bad look and there's no way
- 4:29to defend it, so he's going to slink away. Unfortunately,
- 4:33the people that defend him and people like him, They
- 4:36don't have that much humility. Imagine being bereft of humility
- 4:40to a level that you surpass. Larry Summers, I have
- 4:46made the difficult decision to retire from my Harvard professorship
- 4:49at the end of this academic year. Summers said in
- 4:52a statement. I will always be grateful to the thousands
- 4:55of students and colleagues I have been privileged to teach
- 4:59and work with coming to Harvard as a graduate student
- 5:02fifty years ago. Yeah, great, we love it. Good for you, buddy,
- 5:05you had a nice, storied career. How many of those
- 5:08years were spent in the company of people like Jeffrey Epstein.
- 5:13I know not the kind of question he wants to hear,
- 5:16and far be it from me to reign on his parade.
- 5:19But here we are, all those years that you were
- 5:21friends with Epstein, he was actively abusing these girls. He
- 5:25was actively stealing money from the citizens of the United
- 5:28States and elsewhere. So yeah, you should step down, and
- 5:32you should be embarrassed, and anybody defending you, they should
- 5:36be embarrassed too. But you would have to have some
- 5:39kind of moral compass for that to happen, And all
- 5:42that really matters to them? Is engagement? Right? Oh, let's
- 5:45be contrarian. Let's try and drive some clicks. There gotta
- 5:50be another side of the story. No, there's not. I'm
- 5:53sorry to tell you there's not another side to this story. Okay,
- 5:56there's one side. These scumbags got away with it for
- 5:59all these years, never an investigation, never a real look
- 6:03at what's going on. And now that the bill is due,
- 6:06like I always tell you, none of them want to pay. Well,
- 6:08guess what. Nobody wants to pay the bill when it
- 6:11comes in. Sure, had a good time running up that
- 6:14bill though, right, no problem running the check up. But
- 6:18now that you got to pay, Oh, you left your
- 6:20wallet in the car. We should feel sorry for you.
- 6:23Somebody should pick up the bill, anybody, but you, Well
- 6:26guess what? Not this time time to reach into that
- 6:31pocket and pay up. Free of formal responsibility. As president
- 6:38and a retired professor, I look forward in time to
- 6:40engaging in research, analysis, and commentary on a range of
- 6:44global economic issues. He added, Yo, I got bad news
- 6:48for you, mister Summers. I don't think anybody wants to
- 6:51hear what you have to say. Nobody wants financial advice
- 6:56from Jeffrey Epstein's Pale Summers also resigned from his leadership
- 7:03position as co director of the Masavar Romney Center for
- 7:07Business and Government. Harvard University spokesman Jason Newton confirmed in
- 7:13an email summers connection to Epstein was long established, but
- 7:17a cash of emails released by the Justice Department last
- 7:20year showed the two men were closer than had been
- 7:23publicly known. Not true, I mean, I guess publicly known,
- 7:27but we all knew. People who followed the story, you knew,
- 7:32So all these things that are coming as a shock
- 7:33to people, this is the stuff we were screaming from
- 7:36mountaintops back in twenty nineteen, you know, when everybody who
- 7:40thinks this story is so important now was ignoring it,
- 7:44calling people like me conspiracy theorists. You know I'm talking
- 7:48about there's a whole lot of people out there who
- 7:51are now talking about this story who didn't give one
- 7:53damn about it when it was happening, but now they
- 7:57feel like they can score political points or whatever, so
- 8:00all of a sudden they're some kind of crusader. I
- 8:03see you too. And there's a whole lot of people
- 8:05that are talking about this story that really don't care
- 8:09about justice one way or the other. They care about
- 8:13scoring points politically, and unfortunately that feeds right into what
- 8:16these people want. They want confusion, they want chaos, and
- 8:20they want everybody at each other's throat. So nobody's paying
- 8:23attention to the bullshit they're up to. The two men
- 8:29communicated as recently as twenty nineteen, more than a decade
- 8:33after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor.
- 8:37They continue to correspond until July fifth, twenty nineteen, a
- 8:41day before Epstein was arrested and charged with sex trafficking Miners.
- 8:46Summers has been on leave from his teaching duties since
- 8:49November while Harvard investigates links between faculty members and Epstein,
- 8:54who died in federal custody in twenty nineteen while awaiting
- 8:58prosecution on sex trafficking charges. So, in other words, they're
- 9:02doing their investigation and they probably found everything that we
- 9:06already know and more, And whoever's in charge over at
- 9:10Harvard probably went to mister Summers and said, bro, you're done.
- 9:14That's it. We'll give you a chance to resign. But
- 9:18besides that, we got you. There's a lot of evidence
- 9:21here and you were an absolute douche, so you gotta go. Now,
- 9:26that's my guess, right, They got this investigation, the investigation
- 9:31kicks off, and then all of a sudden, mister tenured
- 9:34professor is just going to resign out of the blue. Okay.
- 9:42The celebrated economist served as Harvard's president from two thousand
- 9:46and one to two thousand and six, before he was
- 9:48named a university professor, the school's highest faculty rank. Summers
- 9:53previously said he planned to retreat from public commitments, including
- 9:57his position on the board of directors at open AI,
- 10:01following the House Oversight Committee's release of more than twenty
- 10:04thousand documents that included his extensive email correspondence with Epstein.
- 10:10I'm deeply ashamed of my actions and recognize the pain
- 10:13they have caused, Somers said in the statement November seventeenth.
- 10:17I take full responsibility for my misguided decision to continue
- 10:21communicating with mister Epstein, not just communicating, opening doors for him,
- 10:27providing him with a veneer of respectability, and then Jeffrey
- 10:33Epstein went on to continue to abuse people. That's a
- 10:36big deal, And I'm sure if it was your daughter
- 10:39who was abused, you'd probably feel the same way. In
- 10:42one set of email, Summers, who has been married to
- 10:45academic Elisa Knew since two thousand and five, sought Epstein's
- 10:49advice on his romantic interest in a woman he described
- 10:52as a mentee. Epstein in turn described himself as a
- 10:56pretty good wingman for Summers. In another, Summers lamented that
- 11:01men who had on women may face repercussions in the
- 11:04modern workplace. Oh god forbid, you can't be a creep
- 11:07at work. That must be rough. Huh. Imagine having to
- 11:12keep your hands and your dumb ass comments to yourself
- 11:16must be tough. Man, hard life, very difficult life for
- 11:20these guys. The scrutiny on the email records led to
- 11:23other revelations, including that Summers and new made a brief
- 11:27visit of less than a day to Epstein's private island
- 11:30in the Caribbean during their honeymoon in two thousand and five.
- 11:33According to a statement from Summer spokesman Stephen Goldberg, have
- 11:37you noticed that everybody says they go to the island
- 11:39for like an hour. Who the fuck goes to an
- 11:42island for an hour? You don't even go to the
- 11:47local pub for an hour. But sure I went to
- 11:50a whole ass island for one hour, and then I
- 11:52was back on my boat like a good little boy.
- 11:56If you believe that you're dumb as fuck. It would
- 12:02not have been easy for Harvard d Al Summers, who
- 12:04was President Bill Clinton's Treasury secretary and a top economic
- 12:08advisor to President Barack Obama. Somemmrs. Tenured position effectively gave
- 12:13them a form of a permanent employment in academia. And folks,
- 12:17this is why you got to get out of that
- 12:18right left mentality. It's both sides. Both sides were corrupt here.
- 12:23Both sides protected Epstein, but neither side wants to take
- 12:27responsibility for the fact that they've been right in the
- 12:29middle of it from the beginning. So of course that
- 12:32leads to more distrust and more people thinking that it's
- 12:36politically motivated when it's obviously not. Look, I can't control
- 12:41anybody else right, but here on this podcast, I assure
- 12:44you every single one of these dirty, rotten pieces of
- 12:47garbage who get caught up in this, they're on the clock.
- 12:51I don't care what your politics are, I don't care
- 12:53what you look like. I don't care. We're from the
- 12:56same city, we have the same friends. I don't give
- 12:58a flying buck, homie. Why were you with Jeffrey Epstein
- 13:02after you knew he was diddling kids? Why didn't you
- 13:05go to the police and talk to them and tell
- 13:07them what you know? So now that you didn't do
- 13:11any of that and we had to catch you red handed,
- 13:14I don't want to hear your excuses. I don't want
- 13:16to hear why, I don't want to hear how it happened,
- 13:19and I certainly don't want to hear sorry, because that
- 13:22ship sailed a long fucking time ago. Harvard's provist office
- 13:26says on its web page that professor's can be removed
- 13:29only for grave misconduct or neglect of duty by the
- 13:32Harvard Corporation, the school's highest governing body. It was not
- 13:37clear whether Summer's conduct meant that standard. Oh it did
- 13:41they let him say face? That's what this is. This
- 13:44is the corporate way of letting people say face. The
- 13:49release of the emails royaled Harvard in interviews last year
- 13:53with NBC News and Harvard's student run newspaper, The Crimson,
- 13:57a group of faculty members and students to cried summers
- 14:00correspondence with Epstein. Epstein is no longer alive, but his
- 14:04legacy is alive and well, and his friends are still
- 14:07in high places, Harvard undergraduate student Lola Jay d Assentis
- 14:13told NBC News. In recent months, Harvard faced mounting pressure
- 14:17to cut ties with Summers, including from Senator Elizabeth Warren,
- 14:22who once taught at Harvard. Boy, they have all the
- 14:24geniuses teach there. Huh. Imagine sending your kid to Harvard
- 14:29for all those fazzules, and you know that all these
- 14:32idiots are the teachers there, might as well send them
- 14:34to community college. Right If he had so little ability
- 14:38to distance himself from Jeffrey Epstein, even after all that
- 14:41was publicly known about Epstein's sex offenses involving underage girls,
- 14:46then Summers cannot be trusted to advise our nation's politicians, policymakers,
- 14:51and institutions, or teach a generation of students at Harvard
- 14:55or anywhere else, Warren said last year. Summer's resignation closes
- 15:02a chapter on his relationship with an educational institution where
- 15:06he received his PhD in economics in nineteen eighty two.
- 15:10The following year, when Summers was just twenty eight, he
- 15:13became one of the university's youngest ever tenured professors. Look,
- 15:18I'm sure that Larry Summers is a sharp guy. Sure's
- 15:21a smarty when it comes to book stuff. Sure is
- 15:26a dumbass when it comes to life decisions. Summer's tenure
- 15:32at the top of Harvard was often clouded by controversy.
- 15:35He faced fierce controversy and pushback after giving remarks in
- 15:39two thousand and five at a closed door economic conference
- 15:42speculating that women may lack an intrinsic aptitude for science
- 15:46and engineering. This guy loved women, though. Just let him
- 15:50tell you. Nothing to see here. Women weren't just a
- 15:55commodity to him. Oh wait, they were, got it. He
- 16:00apologized and insisted his remarks had been misconstrued. The noise
- 16:05ultimately became too intense to surmount. He resigned from the
- 16:09presidency in February of two thousand and six. Four months later,
- 16:14Summers was appointed to the faculty again as a university professor,
- 16:20a distinction afforded to only a handful of luminaries. He
- 16:23held that title for nearly twenty years. Well, guess what
- 16:26not anymore? And I don't care for one minute. I
- 16:30don't feel bad. I don't have any empathy for him,
- 16:33and I don't care about his reputation. Why should I
- 16:36care about his reputation if he doesn't, because if he
- 16:40cared about his reputation, well, he wouldn't have been breaking
- 16:44bread with Jeffrey Epstein. So if Larry Summers is looking
- 16:48for somebody to blame, my advice is take a look
- 16:53in the mirror. All the information that goes with this
- 16:57episode can be found in the description Fox
