- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're gonna die of right
- 0:06back in to the warden's interview with the OIG inspectors. Question,
- 0:11all right, now, we're going to get into the actual incident.
- 0:16What's your understanding of what occurred in Epstein's cell on
- 0:19August tenth, twenty nineteen. Answer I don't know. Question you
- 0:24don't know. Answer I didn't go up there. Question do
- 0:28you he gets cut off? I never saw the cell.
- 0:31Question do you believe if do you know if Epstein
- 0:34took his own life? Answer That's what I've been told.
- 0:37Question is that you're understanding of what happened? Answer that
- 0:41was what was conveyed to me. Question do you have
- 0:44any information with regard to anyone else taking Epstein's life? Answer?
- 0:49No question. No, have you heard that epstein cell door
- 0:52was left open on the night of August ninth, twenty
- 0:54nineteen and or the morning of August tenth, twenty nineteen.
- 0:59Answer I didn't hear that. Question you never heard that
- 1:01answer no question. Have you heard that any cellmate in
- 1:05the shoe, any cells within the shoe, any of their
- 1:08doors were left open on the night of August ninth,
- 1:11twenty nineteen, in the morning. Answer I didn't hear that
- 1:15question on August ninth. No answer, nope. Question do you
- 1:20know if anyone harmed Epstein? Answer no, I would have
- 1:24reported it. Question all right, So these are let's see,
- 1:28this is the Bureau of Prisons Health Services clinical encounter.
- 1:32Did you get to review this one at all? Answer? No? Question.
- 1:35It talks about responding to a body alarm at six
- 1:38thirty five for a medical emergency. Answer. I think it
- 1:42might have saw the memorandum, but I don't recall seeing this.
- 1:46Question all right, So let me just read this for
- 1:48a second for the record, because it's a very quick one.
- 1:52It says, responded to a body alarm at six thirty
- 1:55five for a medical emergency on nine South. Upon arrival,
- 1:58inmate was received on the floor of his cell, unresponsive
- 2:02with CPR and progress BI correctional officers. The inmate was
- 2:06cold with circumferential bruising around the neck and posterior of
- 2:10modeling pupils fixed and dilated, no palpois pulses called place
- 2:16for EMS. CPR continued, ed placed no shock advised. CPR continued.
- 2:22Inmate transported to Hsu treatment room with CPR and progress
- 2:27eighteen g Heplock. No, I'm not going to read the
- 2:30rest of this. It just talks about continued CPR and progress.
- 2:34Are you aware after Epstein was found on August tenth,
- 2:37twenty nineteen, at approximately six thirty three am, did he
- 2:41ever show any signs of life? Answer? I never. I
- 2:45wasn't up there. Question Yeah, I just didn't know if
- 2:47you had heard. Answer No, from what I heard when
- 2:52I got there, he was already out. Question because they
- 2:55said that, you know, he was declared deceased at the hospital.
- 2:59So my question is it sounds like from this person's
- 3:01report he was there was no signs of life, and
- 3:06I was just wondering, had you heard anything from the staff?
- 3:09Was there any sign of life? What are you aware
- 3:11of while after from the point he was found on question, Well,
- 3:17the impression that I was given was that he was
- 3:19alive when he left the institution. Question, so you believed
- 3:25he was actually alive? Answer? That's what was conveyed. Question.
- 3:29It was conveyed to you that he gets cut off
- 3:31by the warden. I think he was still alive if
- 3:35I remember right, I think he was. They did the
- 3:37CPR and then they got him out. Question and who?
- 3:42So according to this again, the person arrived at six
- 3:45thirty five. They're saying the inmate was called, you know,
- 3:48pupils fixed and dilated, no powerpos pulses meaning I'm assuming
- 3:52that means no pulse you know. Answer, So you would
- 3:56probably have to look at the response the staff responding
- 3:59memorandum on what he gets cut off by the investigator.
- 4:03So up until this date, did you think that he
- 4:05was alive when he left the institution? Answer? That's what
- 4:09I believed, That's the impression I had. Well that's interesting, huh,
- 4:14especially when you add on that they used a body
- 4:17double when they were removing Epstein's body from the facility,
- 4:20according to reports. So what the hell was going on now?
- 4:24Mister Hayes jumps in again with another question. Can I
- 4:27ask a question? Right if he was dead when they
- 4:29came and somebody found him, or even if he was
- 4:32close to death, how long would it have been that
- 4:35he tried to kill himself and the time that they
- 4:37found him? And other words, does that mean he tried
- 4:39to kill himself forty five minutes before? Does that mean
- 4:42he tried to kill himself thirty minutes before you understand
- 4:46the question I'm asking, question sure, I mean that is
- 4:49something that the medical examiner, you know, they make that determination, Hayes,
- 4:54because obviously if he was or had done whatever he
- 4:57did during the time that there was supposed to be
- 4:59around and somebody fucked up, you know what I mean,
- 5:02if you're there with a towel around your throat, that's
- 5:04a hint that you might not exactly be in the
- 5:07best of moods the warden pipes up. But the other
- 5:12thing is, you know, I don't know, like you just said,
- 5:14the medical examiner determines, you know, if he's alive or
- 5:18he gets cut off by the investigator. Well, and that
- 5:21was going to be my follow up. First of all,
- 5:24who is this person it's as provider redacted or end.
- 5:27Is that someone who worked he gets cut off by
- 5:30the warden? He was one of the nurses that worked.
- 5:34Question all right, and is it your understanding by saying provider,
- 5:38this is the person who wrote the report? Answer? Yeah,
- 5:41typically who as the encounter fills it out, writes it
- 5:44in the system. Question Okay, so up until me reading
- 5:47these out, you actually were under the assumption he was
- 5:50still alive. Answer? Yeah, Question when he left. Answer I
- 5:55thought he was alive. Yeah, that was my assumption. Question Okay,
- 5:59does that have anything to do with the fact that
- 6:01the medical examiner is the only one who can declare
- 6:04him dead? Answer it does too, question all right? And
- 6:09also I have heard that the inmates don't die at prison.
- 6:12Question Well, I mean people say that, but again, in reality,
- 6:16no one in the prison can declare an inmate dead.
- 6:19Question right, right, right? But is that what you mean
- 6:23by the statement though? Did you I mean, had you
- 6:25heard that he showed signs of life? Answer? From what
- 6:31he gets cut off again because we have heard this
- 6:34type of thing before. Answer Yeah, from what I hear,
- 6:40they were still performing life saving measures on them, even
- 6:42when from what do you call it? Ems coming in there.
- 6:45So when you say to me that we're performing life
- 6:48saving measures, I'm assuming that he's still alive. Question right, Like,
- 6:52there is always a chance you could bring him back,
- 6:55or that you're helping that you're going to resuscitate them.
- 6:58But do you know of any indication that he had
- 7:01signs of life? Answer? I didn't. Again, I'm going off
- 7:05of assuming that he was still alive because they're still
- 7:08working on him. Question Okay, answer, So if somebody start. Now,
- 7:13I've been in situations where the paramedics come in and
- 7:16you know, they work on them and they say, you
- 7:18know what, there's nothing else we can do. He still
- 7:21hasn't been declared dead question, sure answer, but they still
- 7:26But from what I gather, they were still working on him. Hayes,
- 7:32When you say nobody dies in prison, are you being facetious? Question?
- 7:37It's just one of those things that it happens at
- 7:40the hospital. That's where they're declared dead. Answer by the warden.
- 7:44And that's not, you know, necessarily true. I mean it's
- 7:46where you are like sometimes yeah, Hayes, it's a joke
- 7:52because sometimes the bodies are still there and we know
- 7:55he's deceased, but then the doctor and the medical examiner
- 7:58declares at the hospital. But just I just want to
- 8:02be clear because with that statement, without me getting a
- 8:04little more clarification, people are going to read, wait a second,
- 8:07the warden said that he was still alive. He thought
- 8:10he was still alive. Now I want to make sure
- 8:12I'm clear. Are you saying that there was a chance
- 8:15for them to bring him back or based upon the
- 8:17conversation with someone and my follow would be that who
- 8:21did you believe that he was still alive? Answer? My
- 8:24assumption from what I was called was that they were
- 8:27working on him and he was he was being taken
- 8:30to the hospital. Question okay, answer, that's the term Hayes
- 8:37pipes in again. Wait, you were called at a certain time.
- 8:41Answer by the warden. Yeah, when the lieutenant called Hayes. Okay,
- 8:44Now the lieutenant says, he gets cut off by the investigator.
- 8:48So when you came back and found out did you
- 8:50ever find out that he wasn't showing signs of life
- 8:53when you came in and talked to people? Answer no,
- 8:56because at first when it happened, I wasn't going around
- 8:59questioning people about, Okay, what's going on with this? Because
- 9:02then I knew that it was a criminal case, but
- 9:05not criminal, but there was going to be an investigation
- 9:07into it, and so I didn't want to give the
- 9:10appearance of anything that I was interfering with any investigation.
- 9:14But when I did call, they said they're working on them,
- 9:16and that you know, he's being transported to the outside hospital.
- 9:21Question and who was it that provided you with that information?
- 9:24Answer the lieutenant lieutenant redacted Hayes. So you drew the
- 9:29inference from that answer, uh huh. Question and after that conversation,
- 9:35though in speaking with other people, you never gathered that, Oh,
- 9:38they were working on them, attempting to bring them back,
- 9:41but he was not alive. Answer. I didn't the assumption.
- 9:45My assumption was that he was deceased at the hospital.
- 9:49Question Okay, all right, do you want to follow up
- 9:52on that at all anymore? No follow up questions that
- 9:56kind of covers it. Hayes, Are we through now? Answer? Oh? Question? No, Hayes,
- 10:02Oh god. Question. We only have really very brief conversations left.
- 10:07All right. So this was an email sent from you
- 10:10to redacted. It just says subject names. It says Michael Thomas,
- 10:14Tovin Owell and redacted? Who were they? Were they the
- 10:19people that were listed? Answer because he wanted to know
- 10:22who was working up there that night? Question okay, answer
- 10:25who the staff was working there that night? Question? So
- 10:29why did you write redacted versus like redacted or someone
- 10:32else who was up there? Was redacted still there? Answer?
- 10:36No question at least redacted and redacted was redacted left
- 10:40off for any reason? Because I think redacted worked until
- 10:43midnight and redacted only worked until ten? Answer? No, for
- 10:49and I don't correct me if I'm wrong. I don't
- 10:51know if you wanted to know who was on the
- 10:53midnight shift, and then I included who was on ten South.
- 10:56I'm not sure. Question I think redacted was the OIC
- 11:00of the shift previous and then just Tovah redacted and
- 11:04Tova were the ones from midnight afterwards. Answer yeah, I
- 11:09think that ten South was redacted Adams. Answer yeah, so
- 11:13I don't know I remember it, but I know it
- 11:16had to do with the question about who was working
- 11:19question okay. Answer so, I don't know the specifics and
- 11:23why it's listed those three question and you don't know if, like,
- 11:27because these were who were considered the subjects. Answer no,
- 11:31I mean these two would have been obvious because they
- 11:34were working up there on the midnight shift. But I
- 11:36don't know why redacted got thrown in there. Question okay,
- 11:40mind just initially and dating that, okay? And this one
- 11:44is an email from Captain redacted to you, dated Sunday,
- 11:46August eleventh, twenty nineteen. It says subject a memorandum on
- 11:51Epstein and it says that this was dated August tenth,
- 11:55twenty nineteen. It's from Captain redacted. It's as subject to
- 11:59security exit spectations involving inmate Epstein. Jeffrey, are you familiar
- 12:04with this? Did you ever see this that he sent? Answer?
- 12:07I did? Question, do you know what the purpose of
- 12:10this was? Answer? Let me read it again? And while
- 12:14this would be conducted? I did. I informed staff indiscernible
- 12:17be dealing with inmate Epstein, and others were notified. I
- 12:21explained the lieutenants were to conduct indiscernible and at that
- 12:24point indiscernible. I explained I could and they would not. Indiscernible.
- 12:29Oh no, I was just asking him when the thing happened,
- 12:32what is the guidance he provided? Question? So what did
- 12:36he provide to like the Shoe staff and the lieutenant
- 12:40at least the last little point on the first page,
- 12:43so it says in detailed conversation with the Shoe lieutenant,
- 12:46he was informed of my expectations regarding the supervision of
- 12:49inmate Epstein. Specifically, he was reminded on several occasions that
- 12:54inmate Epstein was to be housed with the cellmate. Answer
- 12:59right question, So is this all like the expectation surrounding Epstein?
- 13:04Answer right question? And what he says during the week
- 13:07of July thirty one, twenty nineteen, in order to address
- 13:10management concerns within made Epstein. Do you know what he
- 13:14is talking about there with management concerns? Answer, the housing
- 13:18of them and in the special housing unit. All right, folks,
- 13:21we're gonna wrap up right there, and in the next
- 13:23episode dealing with the topic, we're gonna pick up where
- 13:25we left off. All the information that goes with this
- 13:29episode can be found in the description box. What's up, everyone,
- 13:33and welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In
- 13:37this episode, we're gonna pick up where we left off
- 13:40with the interview of the warden from MCC with the
- 13:43OIG investigators. Question Okay, and do you know if according
- 13:48to this it looks like he's saying that he did
- 13:50perform an informal training session with the staff. Do you
- 13:53know if he in fact did that or is it
- 13:55just based upon what he wrote here? Answer? Just based
- 14:00upon what he sent out? Question Okay, so there is
- 14:04no other information aside from what he's telling you. Answer right, yeah,
- 14:07he told me that question. So this one I want
- 14:10to get your take on this matter. So this is
- 14:12back to redacted who was relieved at five point thirty.
- 14:15But she stayed at the institution at least until nine
- 14:19thirty and sent out that email detailing you know what
- 14:22day and the lieutenant's log and the daily activity log.
- 14:26So Captain redacted sent her an email on eight twelve,
- 14:29twenty nineteen, stating, Lieutenant redacted, I am reminding you to
- 14:33submit your supervisory memorandum for the inmate Epstein incident that
- 14:37occurred eight ten, twenty nineteen. Please have it complete and
- 14:41ready for submission. On eight thirteen, twenty nineteen, she responded
- 14:46with no addressing nothing, just saying just responded simply in
- 14:50your email, you stay quote, I'm reminding you end quote.
- 14:54I haven't spoken to you or anyone else regarding the
- 14:57incident involving inmate Epstein or anything else retaining to August tenth,
- 15:01twenty nineteen. So how is it possible for you to
- 15:04be reminding me? Second, I'd have properly relieved prior to
- 15:08the incident involving in made Epstein. What's your take on
- 15:12that email? The warden. First of all, any major incident
- 15:16that takes place in the institution, we have to do
- 15:19what's called a report of incident. He is well within
- 15:22the scope of his employment, asking Okay, where is your
- 15:25where is? And I don't know if he was asking
- 15:28her for the overall memorandum, like you are the shift lieutenant,
- 15:32you know when is when the incident took place, So
- 15:35technically you should have been doing the packet. So he's
- 15:38probably contacting her for that question. Well, she was relieved
- 15:43at five thirty am, but she's still there, and the
- 15:45incident happened at six thirty. And again she was there
- 15:50at least until nine thirty, and she did respond to
- 15:53the shoe afterwards, helping with the feeding. Should she have
- 15:56written a memorandum? Answer? Yes, question yes? Answer yes, I mean,
- 16:03she said she responded to the incident. Question, She didn't
- 16:06respond to the incident. She responded after the incident to
- 16:10help in the shoe with feeding and dealing with inmates.
- 16:14Mister Hayes jumps in. So somebody told her that the
- 16:17fucking guy hung himself. Should she have right the warden
- 16:21pipes in? Again, from what I gather, I am under
- 16:24the impression when the lieutenant relieved her, she was gone
- 16:27because and you know, and I can't speculate on what
- 16:31was there question? She said she stuck around working on
- 16:35matters that needed to catch up on, but it sounds
- 16:38like manipulating those numbers on the counts and stuff. Answer okay,
- 16:44question right answer. So let me ask you this question.
- 16:47I have I have a medical emergency, a suicide. Right,
- 16:50That is an emergency everyone in the institution has to
- 16:53respond to. Why didn't you respond to it? So you
- 16:57think that she may have come back after answer? It
- 17:00doesn't make sense to say he gets cut off again
- 17:02by the questioner. Well, she never sent out her required
- 17:06logs though, answer right, so that he gets cut off again.
- 17:11So you reviewed her emails, and I would think that
- 17:13she would have sent that out if she had left.
- 17:16I would think she would have sent that out before
- 17:19she left, right as required? Answer right? So did you
- 17:24leave and come back? I mean because if you were
- 17:26saying that you were there, you would have been one
- 17:29of the first responders up to the unit question. Yeah,
- 17:33answer for the emergency question. That's a really good point.
- 17:37I wish I would have thought of that, warden. I mean, so,
- 17:41and then if you if you didn't respond, why didn't
- 17:44you respond? Answer? If she is it the claim at all?
- 17:48I had been relieved I wasn't technically working the warden.
- 17:53If you're in the building, you have to respond question,
- 17:57is that right? Answer? It's an emergency question, okay answer.
- 18:02I mean as a lieutenant, I would want to respond
- 18:04and say, he gets cut off by the investigator. And
- 18:07so the fact that she states that she was there
- 18:10and she was working on her administrative responsibilities, so is
- 18:13that a problem. Then as the warden, what do you
- 18:16mean you're working on the administrative you should have responded
- 18:19to that emergency answer. No, but and I don't want
- 18:22to speculate on when you were there, But I just
- 18:25there is just some questions. Heyz Wade, I think he
- 18:30gets cut off and the warden picks up. Yeah, I
- 18:34mean it's a problem if you say you're working on it. Okay. Now,
- 18:38at what point did you say, okay, I need to
- 18:40because once they said that, hey, I have a suicide
- 18:43or something going on, which is probably over, you know,
- 18:46a real medical emergency, and you hear the transmission on
- 18:49the radio you're gonna go up there. So then you say, oh,
- 18:53I went up there later to help with the feeding.
- 18:55Either way, you were in the building, the captain's asking
- 18:59you it happened on your shift. You're responsible for conducting
- 19:02the report of the incident. Question, So that answer is yes,
- 19:07she should have written a memorandum. Answer, she should have
- 19:11written one. I don't understand why she didn't, you know? Question,
- 19:15and is that at all? Reading how she responded, is
- 19:18that insubordination at all to you? Answer? Listen, I'll put
- 19:23it this way. I can't speak on our other supervisors
- 19:27or how they tolerate, but if you had given me
- 19:29a memorandum like this, we would have been having a conversation.
- 19:32You know. Question, Is that at the very least inappropriate?
- 19:38I think it's inappropriate. I mean that's the way I
- 19:41read it. I thought it was inappropriate. Answer. I would
- 19:46have gone to have a conversation like you know, first,
- 19:48are you all right? And then secondly what is this?
- 19:52But yeah? Question fair enough? Hayes, Okay, listen. One last question?
- 19:58Does this give the implication that she's covering up for
- 20:01somebody or she just didn't know her job? The warden?
- 20:05I don't know. Question, We don't know. Had you heard
- 20:08anything about her covering up for someone? Answer? I haven't
- 20:12heard anything, but you know, he gets cut off by
- 20:15the investigator. Did you hear about inmates saying that she
- 20:18was making statements that she was going to cover for
- 20:20other people. Answer again, I don't want to make any statements.
- 20:24Question No, No, I'm asking you. The warden picks back
- 20:28up that are not factual. Question did you ever hear? Answer? No,
- 20:33I didn't hear anything. Question you never heard it? Answer right, Hayes,
- 20:40you know, and she don't say much. I mean, you know,
- 20:43if I was him, I would be drawing an inference,
- 20:45saying what the fuck's going on? Excuse my language, by
- 20:48the way, I have a filthy mouth. The warden. No,
- 20:50I mean, I understand what you're saying, but you know,
- 20:53I'm just my point of view is and my concern
- 20:56is if you were there, he gets cut off by Hayes.
- 21:00Your concern is you would have asked Unlike myself, you
- 21:02would have asked her a question first, rather than just
- 21:06jumping into which is what I did. The word answer
- 21:12is right because under the impression because when Lieutenant redacted
- 21:16called me, he was the operations lieutenant and he had
- 21:19relieved her. She had gone home already. Question. Well, he
- 21:23had certainly relieved her, but according to her, she hadn't
- 21:26gone home. Do you mind just initially and dating that answer? Yeah, question,
- 21:31maybe you asked this question and I just want to clarify,
- 21:35being that she started the shift at ten pm the
- 21:37night before. Right, warden, Uh huh. Question, Let's say that
- 21:41the incident did happen. We're not saying she did. We
- 21:44don't know if she went in and she altered the
- 21:47lieutenant logs for the previous shift. Did she do something wrong?
- 21:50The other investigator pipes in, well, and again we're knowing
- 21:54though that she started at ten pm, so that's still
- 21:57her shift. Back to the other investigator. Let's just say,
- 22:00you know the fact that the inmate wasn't moved until midnight,
- 22:03and then the clarification and the count, the count number
- 22:06is being changed in there. So now the lieutenant lag
- 22:09count numbers are accurate except the count and the actual
- 22:12count slips were completely off. So somewhere along the way
- 22:15someone altered those numbers to correct it. The lieutenant is
- 22:20required to take the count on each shift. Right, answer
- 22:24by the warden. Right, just to take one count? An
- 22:28institutional count question, not a physical in the shoe count
- 22:32Hayes right, Okay, And there was account entered right, and
- 22:35there is no question that at some point the count
- 22:37was altered. Answer by the warden the count was wrong? Question?
- 22:42So what agent redacted is asking, well, that obviously goes
- 22:45to show that she went back and changed those numbers
- 22:48to seventy two Hayes. But what was her motive to
- 22:52do that? Answer? She says, she was just trying to
- 22:55make things accurate, Hayes. But what would be an ulterior
- 22:59motive that would create the idea that she was doing
- 23:01something wrong? Question? It goes back to when you asked,
- 23:05is there something to do with a cover up? Answer? So,
- 23:07if and granted, mistakes are made in the log, but
- 23:10you also annotate that in the log, like you will
- 23:13put okay late entry, because typically if you say the
- 23:16log is done already, when you go back and make changes,
- 23:19you make changes for that reason alone. An investigator comes in,
- 23:23looks at it and says, well, wait a minute, it
- 23:25looks like you've been playing. You went back and just
- 23:28change the numbers, so you can put in there and
- 23:30you say okay, late entry. Explain what your change was
- 23:34and what the mistake was, you know, Hayes. So, really,
- 23:38with this to show malicious intent in her part, there's
- 23:41got to be something that influences her to protect one
- 23:44of the people that were no question, were fucking around, right,
- 23:48the two guys that were fucking around ended up getting pinched. Right, So,
- 23:51if one of them is her friend, and she's got
- 23:53a malicious motive to go try and cover for that guy,
- 23:57like did eight thousand indiscernibles police officer, he says, well,
- 24:02I thought she drew a gun on me and I
- 24:04shot her. Oh okay, nobody else saw that. Question But
- 24:09are you not aware of her involvement at all, you said,
- 24:13or covering up for them, or involvement in Epstein's death.
- 24:18Answer No, she wouldn't have had that conversation with them.
- 24:22Question and you weren't until now. It sounds like even
- 24:25aware she was at the institution after five thirty am. Answer,
- 24:29I was told that she left. Question okay, and again,
- 24:33who told you that? Answer? The operations lieutenant, because he
- 24:37called me and he says, hey, I relieved redacted. Question okay,
- 24:44and did you have before we move on to the
- 24:46next subject, do you have any more on that? Answer? No?
- 24:50All right, folks, we're gonna wrap up right here, and
- 24:52did the next episode dealing with the topic. We're gonna
- 24:55pick up where we left off. All the information that
- 24:58goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
- 25:02What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 25:05Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 25:08where we left off with the warden from MCC and
- 25:12his interview with the OIG Inspectors. Question okay, so now
- 25:17we're going to talk about the cameras. Answer okay. Question
- 25:22were the shoe cameras recording on August ninth and tenth
- 25:25of twenty nineteen. Answer? I didn't physically go check to
- 25:29see if they were recording or not. Question did you
- 25:32learn that they were not recording? Answer? Yeah, we found
- 25:35out afterwards that they weren't recording. And to that, mister
- 25:39Hayes jumps in again. Wait wait, wait, we had this conversation.
- 25:44The cameras don't work in a lot of these institutions,
- 25:47right answer yeah, question all right, and that's because they
- 25:50didn't spend the fucking money to make sure the cameras work.
- 25:54And I gotta stop saying fuck. Answer by the warden,
- 25:58that's the issue too. Funding. And you know, so since
- 26:00that incident, I guess there was some audits done by
- 26:03the agency and they realized that it was kind of
- 26:05a system. Indiscernible Hayes. But you see, the issue is
- 26:10should you have checked. Why weren't the cameras working? Question
- 26:14by the investigator. Well, that's my question is do you
- 26:17know why they were not working? Answer? I don't know
- 26:20the specific language that was used and what was wrong
- 26:23with it, because I guess after I left, they kind
- 26:26of made a determination on what was why. What was
- 26:29the reason. I know we were going through the process
- 26:32of auditing and fixing some cameras, but those specific shoe
- 26:35cameras I wasn't aware of the extent. Question Okay, let's
- 26:41just really quickly review the shoe camera documentation. Were you
- 26:45ever provided any documentation or documents of a camera that
- 26:48actually was working inside of the shoe? Answer you mean
- 26:52the day of the Epstein thing? Question right at any time? Answer?
- 26:57I don't recall. Question so, were you pro with this
- 27:01this is right outside of ten south? Answer that says
- 27:05camera angle out of ten south? Question right, were you
- 27:08ever provided with that? As far he gets cut off,
- 27:14it looks familiar, The warden says, question Okay, but you
- 27:18don't remember specifically? Answer yeah, I don't specific question okay.
- 27:22And then just while we're here, I guess, what are
- 27:25these doors right to the right of this picture? Answer?
- 27:30This door goes into ten South. Question okay, answer, and
- 27:34then this one I think is a utility room door.
- 27:36I'm not sure. Question okay, so the door that says
- 27:40forty six goes into ten South. Answer that looks like
- 27:44the ten south door. Wait yeah, the phone, Yeah that's
- 27:47ten South. It looks like ten South. Question and what
- 27:51are we looking at down here? Answer? So this is
- 27:54right here is the officer station area. Question and do
- 27:58you based upon that? Do you know what tire that
- 28:01would be right there? Answer? Oh man, you got indiscernible stopped.
- 28:07Let me is a G n H tier I think
- 28:09if I remember? Question? And what would be to the
- 28:12right of the officer station? Answer? Oh wait, g H
- 28:16I JA, I don't remember. If it was I and J. Question,
- 28:22would this be L tier up here? Answer? Yeah, L
- 28:25and M tier. Question so right up right to the
- 28:29right of the officers station looking at this picture would
- 28:32be L And is that where mister Epstein was housed? Answer?
- 28:36I believe he was on the L tier. Question Okay,
- 28:39do you mind just initially and dating that? So here
- 28:43is a map that we previously provided. Does this look
- 28:46like the So this is where we were in the
- 28:50camera angle, and it's focusing down here on the officer station.
- 28:54This is el Tier on the second level, and this
- 28:57is where Epstein would have been housed. Does that look right? Answer?
- 29:00That looks right? Question okay, is this el Tier here?
- 29:04Answer that's Eltier? Question? Does this look like that would
- 29:08have been Epstein's door? I know you can't really see
- 29:11here because of the police crossings? Answer? I noticed it
- 29:15the crime scene tape? Question okay, do you have any
- 29:18reason to believe that that wouldn't be Epstein's door? Answer?
- 29:23What do you mean? Question? As far as I know,
- 29:26we can't see the number he gets cut off by
- 29:28the warden. Yeah, I don't know the number, but taking
- 29:31your word for it, that that is it? Question Okay.
- 29:36Now if you see this is al Tier range and
- 29:39at the very end you see this camera. Should that
- 29:41camera have been recording? Answer? Yes? Question okay? And is
- 29:46that a camera that I'm actually looking at right there? Answer?
- 29:49That's a camera Hayes pipes in. Was that camera recording? Question? Sir?
- 29:57Do you know if that camera was recording? Answer? I
- 29:59didn't see. After I left. I guess they said that
- 30:01they had camera issues, but I don't know what I
- 30:04wasn't provided information on what specific cameras were working or not? Question?
- 30:10So they didn't tell you if they were working or not. Answer, well,
- 30:13I remember I was removed. Question. I just didn't know
- 30:16if you found out on the tenth or the eleventh.
- 30:20Answer No, I was removed on the You know, they
- 30:22said there were some camera issues and then what they
- 30:26were doing they had the FBI came in and took
- 30:28car drives, and I guess they were working to see
- 30:31what was working and what wasn't working. Question can you
- 30:35initially date that? The investigator, I'm not going to get
- 30:38into this since he wasn't aware that they weren't recording.
- 30:43Hayes pipes in again. Boy, I'm impressed by your thoroughness.
- 30:46I'll tell you that much. The investigator responds, that's why
- 30:49they put me on it. Hayes, You're very thorough. Answer yep, Hayes.
- 30:55You know, if you if you are a good trial lawyer,
- 30:57you know, allegedly a good trial lawyer, a lot of
- 30:59times you're not supposed to be thorough. You're supposed to
- 31:02put an idea in the jury's head right where you
- 31:05can see they're invulnerable stray on that fucking idea, Because
- 31:09if you're going to be thorough. You have to bring
- 31:12out something that you don't want to bring out, you know,
- 31:14so you to speak to the things, but you know
- 31:17you got them the warden. Yeah. Question so this is
- 31:22an email that was received. Who's redacted? Answer? He's the
- 31:25facility manager. Question okay, so is this what I wanted
- 31:30to show you? Hold on now? Did you print out
- 31:32the one that I sent you this morning? Answer is
- 31:36that that should be the last thing. He gets cut
- 31:38off by the investigator. Okay, I'm not going to get
- 31:41into those. So you weren't aware that the cameras were
- 31:44not or you are not aware if the cameras were
- 31:47or were not recording in the shoe. Answer No, we
- 31:51had camera issues throughout the institution. Question okay. Answer, so
- 31:56I don't know which specific one because we had mister
- 31:58redacted working on a project to get some money for it.
- 32:02Question okay, answer, And when it came to that specific night,
- 32:06I didn't know if they were working or not. Question.
- 32:09Were you ever told that either on August eighth or
- 32:12August ninth, that the cameras were not recording in the shoe?
- 32:15Answer I heard, Yes, I was told that there were
- 32:18some issues with the camera he gets cut off by
- 32:21the investigator on either the eighth or the ninth, prior
- 32:24to Epstein. Answer no, on talking about afterwards, the investigator
- 32:28continues on August ninth or August eight, even leading up
- 32:31to Epstein being found. Were you informed that cameras were
- 32:34not recording? Answer? No, I wasn't told about the cameras.
- 32:39Question all right, So based on our investigation, we learned
- 32:42that mcc SIS Lieutenant redacted and the aw became aware
- 32:48on August eight, twenty nineteen, that at least some of
- 32:51the mcc cameras were not recording. They contacted Contech redacted
- 32:55and may have also notified Captain redacted. Did you ever
- 32:58hear anything about that? Answer? I knew prior to that
- 33:02that there was some cameras in the institution that needed
- 33:04to be fixed, but not specifically the shoe. No question, okay.
- 33:09And would that have been based upon what they found
- 33:12the AWNSIS lieutenant Answer no, because we had some issues
- 33:17with cameras and we were trying to seek funding and
- 33:21we were trying to see, okay, what was working and
- 33:24what to get fixed, but specifically in the shoe No question,
- 33:29all right. So only because you said that you were
- 33:31trying to get funding. Did you know that there were
- 33:34already cameras at the institution that they were able to
- 33:37replace When the FBI took the cameras on the tenth,
- 33:40they were able to immediately replace them with cameras that
- 33:43were on site. Answer, So cameras. All institutions always have
- 33:47like backup cameras to fix when they're there. But I
- 33:51was talking about funding to replace the whole system. Question.
- 33:55So this was from fiscal year twenty eighteen back in September.
- 34:00This is a memorandum from you from a manager acting
- 34:03facilities manager, and these are all the different documents that
- 34:07go with it regarding a new camera system that was purchased.
- 34:10Answer right, question it was it looks like eight hundred
- 34:14thousand dollars for this total. These are all the documents
- 34:19that here you go. This is an approval of your
- 34:22September eleventh, twenty eighteen request. So this is a memorandum
- 34:27from it looks like redacted, the Assistant director for administration.
- 34:32It says request to exceed the spending limit of fifty
- 34:35thousand dollars on a work request number eight one five
- 34:38eight replaced camera system at mcc New York. This work
- 34:43is to replace the current degraded camera system. The total
- 34:46cost of this work is not to exceed eight hundred
- 34:49thousand dollars. And then at the bottom it says, if
- 34:53you have any questions, please call me or have your
- 34:55staff contact and how do you say that name? Do
- 34:58you know? Did and redacted chief facility branch manager and
- 35:04it says at the phone number, and then here are
- 35:07the you know, the work orders for that. So we
- 35:10have spoken with Signette who was the camera provider. They
- 35:13said that on or around October or November twenty eighteen,
- 35:17they were delivered. And then talking with redacted the city manager,
- 35:21he said that they started working on the infrastructure of
- 35:24the camera project on or around March twenty nineteen to
- 35:28get everything ready for the new camera system that was
- 35:30on site to be installed, and said that he gets
- 35:34cut off by the warden. They had to run wires,
- 35:37but the old system was there, so they had to
- 35:39run wires and they had to get a contract done
- 35:42in order because you needed the context and I forget
- 35:44the wording that they used is to run the cables
- 35:47or get the camera system in question, and you know
- 35:51how long that typically takes to run the new wires
- 35:53and all of that answer you would have the staff indiscernible.
- 35:58We didn't have the staffing question, so there were two
- 36:01people TD wide in the order to do that answer.
- 36:05They started ted wying people in to come in. Hayes,
- 36:09Wait a minute, can the staff run the new wires
- 36:11or do you have to get an electrician to run
- 36:13the wires? Answer by the warden, No, we have staff
- 36:17that are qualified to do it. But then some of
- 36:19them were new and really didn't know how to do it.
- 36:23You know it was he gets cut off by the investigator.
- 36:26So according to mister radaktid it says, the camera system
- 36:29was scheduled to start March seventh, twenty nineteen, and it
- 36:33started on schedule. When I arrived TDY February twenty nineteen,
- 36:38we only had one communication technician. Therefore, after talking to
- 36:43the regional office, they started a project to assist in
- 36:46funding and labor. So we were able to start the
- 36:49week of March seventeenth, twenty nineteen for the camera system
- 36:53and all other infrastructure throughout the institution. Question below the
- 37:00email sent to all institution from redacted the Northeast Facility
- 37:04as administrator. But point being, it looks like the project
- 37:07had started. Correct. Answer, it started, but he gets cut
- 37:10off by the investigator. And I only say that because
- 37:14I wanted to make sure you weren't confused because you
- 37:16were saying we were looking for funding. Answer No, no,
- 37:20I misspoke. What I'm saying is I meant that the
- 37:23project started, but the cameras hadn't been replaced because they
- 37:26were still running wires for to get the new system started,
- 37:30so that unit still had the old cameras. Question right,
- 37:34but then the camera system was actually on site and
- 37:37they were working on it. Answer well, yeah, but they weren't.
- 37:41You didn't have enough staff to install to you know,
- 37:44to rewire the whole place because we had we wanted
- 37:47to put one some of the ranges that never had cameras,
- 37:51So it was a tedious project. Question I see. Answer
- 37:56that required us to tdy staff from other institutions, and
- 38:00then you know, he gets cut off by the investigator. Yeah.
- 38:03And where you kept apprized of where they were on
- 38:06that on the camera project? Answer? I would inquire about it,
- 38:11like where we were with it, but we were to
- 38:13the point where we were bringing people in from other
- 38:16institutions to get it done. Question Okay, and do you
- 38:20know when the camera system was scheduled to actually be
- 38:22installed or was it ever scheduled? Answer from and if
- 38:27I remember right, it was a matter of before you
- 38:29even installed it, you had to run the wiring for it.
- 38:32Question right, And that's what they were saying in March
- 38:36of twenty nineteen. Answer, but that had been completed because
- 38:40you had the TDY people there and to get it done.
- 38:43Question And they were never provided you with an update
- 38:46as far as like when it would actually be completed.
- 38:50Answer it was still ongoing. Question Okay, answer now, But
- 38:56after I left, they get people in there and they
- 38:58completed it. Question Yeah. Yeah, because I think I think
- 39:04the whole week we were able to complete the whole
- 39:06thing correct answer, I don't know. Question, you don't know? Answer,
- 39:11you know, because they had people come in from different institutions.
- 39:15All right, folks, we're gonna wrap up right there, and
- 39:17in the next episode dealing with the topic, we're gonna
- 39:19pick up where we left off. All the information that
- 39:21goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
- 39:25What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 39:28Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're getting right back to
- 39:32the warden from mcc and his interview with the olig inspectors.
- 39:37Question now was that did they ever did the facilities manager,
- 39:41captain whomever ever explain to you how bad the system
- 39:45was and that it kept on shutting down and stopping,
- 39:48you know, cameras weren't recording. Answer. I mean, we would
- 39:51have had incidents where, you know, something would happen and
- 39:54we tried to go back and find the tape and
- 39:56we couldn't, so it would break down. They would fix it. So,
- 40:00I mean, we did have issues like that before, but
- 40:03it was the age of the cameras. You know, we
- 40:06had infrastructure issues. Question because yeah, the contact claims that,
- 40:11you know, like he had been I mean he's a
- 40:13very soft spoken person, but like basically screaming at the
- 40:17top of his lungs as much as a very soft
- 40:20spoken person can. We need to fix these things. This
- 40:23is a continual problem. Answer. So here is what it is.
- 40:27We don't have the money readily available at an institution
- 40:30to fix it. That money comes from what we call
- 40:33buildings and funds, which is funded by Congress. So you
- 40:36would have to talk to somebody in the region about
- 40:39what the regional budget is. But other institutions have issues
- 40:42going on. Question, But being that we have all these
- 40:46cameras already on site and they had already done the
- 40:49wiring for you know, at least six months prior to that. Answer, well,
- 40:53not all the wiring. He gets cut off by the investigator. No, No,
- 40:59I'm just saying like that. I'm just trying to get
- 41:02a feel for what the plan here and who was responsible. Answer.
- 41:06While the plan was to get the manpower to get
- 41:08it installed, but at the time we only had one person,
- 41:11which was redacted, So one person can't right. But even
- 41:17the TDY staff came, they did help, you know, But
- 41:20then we also had other TDY staff that were coming
- 41:23in for because of our staffing issues. Question. Well, that's
- 41:28what redacted told us, that the TDY staff that was
- 41:31a signed for him. Sometimes we're getting put on custody posts.
- 41:35Do you know if that is accurate or not? Answer?
- 41:38We might have had to do it a time or
- 41:40two because we wanted the staff. Question and whose responsibility
- 41:44were the cameras to make sure that those things were
- 41:47going to be operational and working properly. Answer, Well, it's
- 41:51not a matter of who was responsible. It's like working
- 41:54on getting it installed. So there was no deadline as
- 41:58far as you know, okay, when they had to be up,
- 42:01you know, they just had to be installed. Question Okay,
- 42:04because we were told that the cameras are the captain's baby,
- 42:07is that accurate? Answer? No, No, it's not, Hayes, that
- 42:11can't be true. Captains don't know how to install that question. No, No,
- 42:16not to install them, but to make sure that they're
- 42:19operational and to get the right people to actually get
- 42:21it done. Hayes, That can't be right either, because how
- 42:28the fuck would you know who the right people are?
- 42:31Question because we were told is that this is constantly happening,
- 42:35whereas the cameras would stop working and then nothing would
- 42:38be recorded. The only way you can find out what's
- 42:41happening is to physically check the DVR recording to see
- 42:44if there has a light on it, or if you
- 42:47try to attempt to rewind and you're unable to because
- 42:50everything is still live monitored feed showing, so you can't
- 42:54tell just by looking at the cameras. It's only when
- 42:56you try to rewind them that you can say, oh
- 42:58my gosh, they're not recording. Answer, right, but that it
- 43:03wasn't just as simple as that. I mean, there were
- 43:05technical aspects of it that you had to check to
- 43:07see if the cameras are working or not. Question, Oh, absolutely,
- 43:13answer right, and the captain basically looking to see if okay,
- 43:17is the screen up and then is it recording? But
- 43:20there were some instances where the hard drives weren't working,
- 43:23and you don't know that until you get deep into
- 43:26into the system. So I wouldn't know, like the fact
- 43:28that the only way that we would know if the
- 43:31hard drives were not working is by going in to
- 43:33check the video, and the video there is no videos
- 43:37that they can pull back. That's when they know that
- 43:40the hard drive stop recording, stop recording, and then and
- 43:45then look at them. But then this is you know,
- 43:48there was other technical aspects of that. You know. Hayes
- 43:54jumps in again, I can't imagine that the captain would know.
- 43:58I sure Azelle wouldn't question. So I guess knowing though
- 44:02that this was like a reoccurring problem and that the
- 44:04fact that, well, what we didn't say is it seems
- 44:08it appears that the cameras actually stop recording all the
- 44:11way back in July, and for half of the institution,
- 44:14who should have made sure that the camera system was
- 44:17replaced and that we had operational camera systems in there. Answer, well,
- 44:21the centralized area, and I don't know where the breakdown was.
- 44:24So if it's centralized area, then it would be, you know,
- 44:27within our facility department, they have access to it. Question well,
- 44:32the camera you're asking where the cameras are? Answer no, no,
- 44:36the com room. Question yeah, the com room where these
- 44:39recorders were. We're all in the SIS secured area. Answer
- 44:43by the word and right, the actual cameras. But where
- 44:46if you go out where and I don't know the word,
- 44:48what's the word? Where your centralized main area is for
- 44:51the whole system. Yeah, that SIS area has the cameras.
- 44:56Question not the control room, but it's the back around
- 45:00where it's a locked door within the SIS lock room
- 45:03where the actual DVR recording and rack is and everything.
- 45:11Question Yeah, yeah, that's is that what you're talking about?
- 45:14Answer that? But there is also another should be another
- 45:18area in the institution just for the communications where everything
- 45:21comes into. So I don't know if that was back
- 45:24there or whatever, but our facilities department, you know, their
- 45:27communication guys check that if there is something intricate with it.
- 45:32Question Now, so, was either a mister redacted or mister adacted.
- 45:36How do you pronounce his name? Redacted? Was redacted? Or
- 45:39a Captain redacted? Were either of them expressing the need
- 45:42to you at all, to hey, we need to get
- 45:45these things fixed. Answer? I mean the request had been
- 45:48sent up. Question yeah, yeah, answer so yeah. Question and
- 45:53these were all on site? Answer right, so yeah, I
- 45:56mean we were going through the process of getting the
- 45:59system up and answer, but there was no set schedule
- 46:03for when it was actually going to be completed. Answer no,
- 46:06because we had to TDY people. Sometimes we got them in,
- 46:10sometimes we couldn't get them in, and then towards the end,
- 46:14you know, boil down the money with getting people in
- 46:16to come fix them. Question and when the people are
- 46:20td why do you when you say boil down the money,
- 46:23does that come out of MCC's pocket. Answer It comes
- 46:27out of our budget. It comes out of budget, it
- 46:30comes out of the region sometimes gives it plus on
- 46:33top of that, we were for TDY to come to
- 46:36our correctional post because we were so short. Question all right,
- 46:41so what would you say is the main reason then
- 46:43that the cameras were on site but not installed lack
- 46:46of manpower and funding? Answer? Well manpower to get it
- 46:50in and then it kind of boiled down to funding,
- 46:53you know, to keep TDY people to get it done. Hayes.
- 46:57But do you have money you can really keep the
- 47:00ty people. You don't have money, you can't keep them,
- 47:02you know. Question But again there was no one there
- 47:05that's actual set schedule of it will be operational by
- 47:09the end of this calendar year or anything like that.
- 47:12Answer no, question that wasn't discussed. Answer that wasn't discussed.
- 47:17We were trying, you know, doing the best we can
- 47:19with the hand that we were dealt. Question Okay, and
- 47:23Monday morning quarterbacking that should it have been discussed or
- 47:26planned ahead that these cameras be installed? Answer what I
- 47:31I don't understand the question. Question well, being that there
- 47:34is it would seem that there was potentially around two
- 47:37weeks and no cameras and in the shoe no cameras
- 47:40aside from the one outside of ten South. Answer right,
- 47:44question that we're recording. But it was according to the
- 47:48you know, according to the facilities as well as the contech.
- 47:51They said it was very well known that this continually
- 47:54happened and that the contach guy continually had to rebuild
- 47:57hard drives because they kept crapping out and not recording. Answer.
- 48:04I mean, it's an antiquated system. So when you go down, yeah,
- 48:08obviously you go fix it. But nobody knew until after
- 48:11the fact that you you know that you had a
- 48:13system that was out for two weeks, you know, I
- 48:15mean you go to any other any other institution, the
- 48:18cameras go down, and when the system breaks, somebody discovers
- 48:22it and they fix it. But as far as getting
- 48:25the new system up, we were working on it. Question, Okay,
- 48:28you want to follow up with any of that the
- 48:31next investigator pipes in you mentioned no one knew, but
- 48:34the problem was, according to the contact, the system failed.
- 48:38The motherboard had to be replaced. They had a failure,
- 48:41and then, of course no one checked it until the
- 48:44eighth August eighth, when the aw and the lieutenant went
- 48:47in and they tried to review video. Now, being that
- 48:51they identified the system wasn't working that day, how soon
- 48:55should it have been fixed? Answer? What do you mean
- 49:01when they write this is two days before that? The
- 49:04investigator pipes in that Epstein was found. If they identified
- 49:08on the eighth that, hey, listen in, the camera isn't
- 49:10working it's technically not recording. How much of a priority
- 49:14is it to make sure that those cameras are up
- 49:16and running immediately? Answer, it's a priority. So what happens is,
- 49:22and we have run into this before, the parts Sometimes
- 49:26the parts weren't readily available, so you have to go
- 49:28somewhere and call for parts. And depending on where it's at,
- 49:32it could be in California or whatever. So you got
- 49:34to see how long it takes to get that part. Question.
- 49:38My understanding is that it was the hard drive that
- 49:40they needed, right, and the hard drive was sitting with
- 49:43the computer service the other investigator. Yeah, on the eighth
- 49:48they weren't able to get it the warden, I don't
- 49:51know question, And on the ninth they got it. But
- 49:54then he claims that he wasn't able to gain access
- 49:57to the room because it was an SIS shop and
- 50:00he needed to go until later in the day and
- 50:03they were gone. And on the tenth he gets cut
- 50:06off by the warden. We have emergency keys to get
- 50:08into any area of the institution. So if he's saying
- 50:11he couldn't get into the SIS office, you got the captain,
- 50:15you know, we got the text that working there. We've
- 50:18got their glasses behind what we call in control center,
- 50:21behind the box. You know we can get that box open. Question.
- 50:25So he said that the only way to be able
- 50:27to get into it is if he broke the glass. Answer,
- 50:30he can break the glass. Question it's okay that he
- 50:33would have done that? And then should he have answer? Yeah,
- 50:36if he couldn't reach you could just well he should
- 50:39have gone to the captain or somebody and said, hey, cap,
- 50:42I need to get into your sis office. Question. Do
- 50:45you think it's at all acceptable if new on August
- 50:48Day that these cameras were down, that he didn't actually
- 50:51start working on it, or at least I guess he
- 50:54was working on getting the parts, but then got the
- 50:56parts again on the sometime on the ninth, claims he
- 51:00didn't work on it because he couldn't get into the office,
- 51:03so he was going to work on it on the
- 51:05tenth on that Saturday. So the question that I would
- 51:09pose to you is did he notify anybody that he
- 51:11couldn't get in there? Did he make any attempt to
- 51:13contact the captain or anybody to say, hey, I need
- 51:16to get into that office to get a part to
- 51:18do it? Because if he had told the captain, that
- 51:21the captain would have got the office open for him. Question. Yeah,
- 51:25I agree with you. It's he says that the MCC
- 51:28was a different so that any other BOP institution in
- 51:31the country that would have happened with his experience taught
- 51:34him that at the MCC, basically it could wait until tomorrow. Warden.
- 51:42So that's his opinion. But again I'm going to pose
- 51:44a question, who did he bring the issue up to,
- 51:48because my thing is, if you know it's an emergency
- 51:50and it's a situation to say this is the MCC
- 51:54is a cop out question? And is it would that
- 51:58be classified as an emergency the warden? If the cameras
- 52:01are down, yeah, question, that's an emergency. So Warden, let's
- 52:07get them back. He should have gotten in there, and
- 52:12he knows he could have gotten into the room, because
- 52:14you can we can break if he said that stuff
- 52:17was sitting in there, whatever room he said it was
- 52:19in there, guess what, you can break the glass. You
- 52:22can break the glass after hours if you need to,
- 52:24and it's an emergency to get in into the area. Question.
- 52:29So his claim is that he has rebuilt these things
- 52:32so many times, and everyone knew that these cameras needed
- 52:35to be reinstalled, and he had been saying that they
- 52:38needed to be reinstalled, and now he's being looked at
- 52:41as the fall guy. The warden, I don't This is
- 52:46not an issue of being the fall guy question, right, Warden.
- 52:50So let's take every issue we just talked about. We
- 52:52talked about the camera project that we were working on.
- 52:55We were getting the people in there to work. So
- 52:58now let's talk about the specific issue that you were
- 53:00talking about. He did not notify anybody to get into
- 53:03that room to get that part. That part was to
- 53:05fix the current system. It had nothing to do with
- 53:08this new system coming in. This is he's saying that
- 53:12this was a part that we needed to fix to
- 53:15get put in to deal with the current system. Now,
- 53:19what about the fact that Lieutenant redacted as saying both
- 53:22she and the aw knew that the cameras were down
- 53:24on August eight, They told Redacted to fix them, and
- 53:27they also notified Lieutenant redacted, so that she not only
- 53:31notified the captain but wrote a memo and provided it
- 53:34to them about the cameras being down on the eighth.
- 53:38So at that point, what are the responsibilities of the
- 53:40captain and the aw answer, So what the captain does
- 53:44is he notifies facilities where redacted works for and says, hey,
- 53:48the cameras are broken, you need to fix them. Answer,
- 53:52so should the captain have on the ninth ensure that
- 53:54those things were fixed? Answer? Well, I don't know what
- 53:58conversation he had with facilities to say, we are getting
- 54:01you know, was it being fixed or not? Question? Well,
- 54:06the ninth is a Friday, So the eighth is when
- 54:09we were told that he was told, informed and learned,
- 54:12So we have all Friday on the ninth to make
- 54:15sure it's done. On the tenth, unfortunately, is when we
- 54:19know the severity of the issue. The other investigator, but
- 54:21that's my point. You knew that, okay, you were made
- 54:24aware that the cameras needed to be fixed. Okay, So
- 54:26your answer, what you're saying is I couldn't get into
- 54:29a certain area. So but my question is should the
- 54:34A and W or the captain have followed up with
- 54:36that to make sure that it was actually being done?
- 54:39Answer to them, I don't know. You know, I don't
- 54:42want to make the assumption because I don't know there
- 54:45could have been some follow up. I don't want to
- 54:47speak on it, but you know if he had told
- 54:49them something on the eighth. You know, I don't know
- 54:51the conversations that were taking place between them, like where
- 54:55is that and what is he saying? Right now? I'm
- 54:58responding to what he is saying and to make sense question, Yeah, no,
- 55:02I would just think that, you know, being a captain
- 55:05or an A and W would be WHOA, the cameras
- 55:08are down in the institution, Well, let's make sure that
- 55:10those things are back up, so they would at least
- 55:12check back in on the ninth and say, hey, where
- 55:15are we on this thing? The warden. But then I
- 55:19don't know, you know what the conversation was. I don't
- 55:22know if on the ninth weredacted even came to work
- 55:25question right answer, I don't know. He could have said, oh, well,
- 55:29I'm not going so I don't know. I don't want
- 55:32to speculate on that part. Question. Yeah, yeah, no, that's
- 55:35what we're trying to tell you. We know he was
- 55:38there on the eighth, he couldn't get the parts. On
- 55:41the ninth, he got the parts. But then he said
- 55:44he tried to get into the SIS office and he
- 55:46was told by the lieutenant it wasn't an SIS tech
- 55:50because there were only two people there. It was somebody
- 55:54that monitored the telephones. I think he's now retired. Tay. Answer, Tay, Yeah. Question.
- 56:00Tay was there and he said, I'm getting ready to
- 56:03leave and he can't come in here without me, And
- 56:05then he said I didn't have access to the room
- 56:07after that. So the plan was to come in on
- 56:10the tenth, the Saturday, because I was coming in anyway,
- 56:13and that's when I was going to work on it.
- 56:15Answer by the warden. He's the comm shop. He can
- 56:18go anywhere where there are computers. Question, So that is
- 56:22not an acceptable answer that he provided. Question or answer.
- 56:25I don't understand the answer. Question Okay, answer. It's because
- 56:29that room is not in where the SIS shop is.
- 56:33That's the phone monitor room. That's the camera room, and
- 56:36the key for the camera room is now I think
- 56:39it's only the SIS lieutenant and the SIA that has
- 56:42keys for it. Question, And that's what the SIS office said.
- 56:48They said that he gets cut off by the warden.
- 56:51So the phone monitor is in the SIS. But he
- 56:54draws keys to get into that room. So the room
- 56:57is all and you can draw keys to get into
- 56:59the room. Investigator, When you draw keys, what do you mean. Answer, well,
- 57:05you get them from control center, you know. Question Well,
- 57:10we were told by Lieutenant redacted the only way to
- 57:13get them is to break the glass, which could have
- 57:16done but gets cut off by the warden. You could
- 57:19have broken the glass and that time of eight o'clock,
- 57:22the captain is there. The security controls all the keys
- 57:25in the institution, is there. You can go to them
- 57:28and say, hey, I need the key. Question now, did
- 57:33either of the captain or the A and W inform
- 57:35you of the issue? Answer? No, I don't recall anything
- 57:40about the issue. Question should they have if it was
- 57:44a Thursday they found out and it was all you
- 57:47weren't here for that? Answer? I wasn't there on Friday?
- 57:52Question Okay, answer, I wasn't there on Friday. Question you
- 57:56weren't even there on Friday? Yeah, I know. He gets
- 58:01cut off by the investigator. So I'm sorry. Can you
- 58:04remind me who was acting in your stead on Friday?
- 58:08The warden? I believe it was redacted I think. Question
- 58:12so you weren't even there? Answer? Yeah, question our understanding
- 58:16is I think captain was in the institution two at
- 58:18about eight pm on Friday. Could Redact it have been
- 58:23to any time during that period. Answer he could have been,
- 58:26I mean, just you can't if it's an emergency to
- 58:29get something for I don't understand. Yeah, question no, you can.
- 58:36You can get in there, so I don't know, question right,
- 58:41especially in the shoe. Hey's right, especially in the shoe.
- 58:44A right, folks, who're gonna wrap up right there and
- 58:46in the next episode dealing with the topic, we're gonna
- 58:48pick up where we left off. All the information that
- 58:51goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
