- 6:00Speaker 2: woman's touch here on in Hie bye key, you're a
- 6:03Speaker 2: staunch friend. Indeed, the Tulip Room was one of those
- 6:16Speaker 2: extra chic spots, you know, curl up at the foot
- 6:18Speaker 2: of the Hollywood Hills, where the velvet and the maitre
- 6:21Speaker 2: D's tone of voice made you sure you had egg
- 6:23Speaker 2: on your vests. But that, plus the crew cut glamour
- 6:26Speaker 2: girls who lined the boots and shrill darling, no matter
- 6:29Speaker 2: what was said, I had finding my prospective client that
- 6:32Speaker 2: much easier. In severely tailored banker's gray flannel, she stood
- 6:36Speaker 2: out among the neighboring naked shoulders like a war on
- 6:39Speaker 2: a cue ball, as did her voice, which, once it
- 6:42Speaker 2: had gone through the introductions, came right to the point mallow.
- 6:46Speaker 7: My problem is simple. I want to find a woman
- 6:47Speaker 7: in a hurry. Her name is Henrietta Law. She's a
- 6:50Speaker 7: good heck writer who disappeared. I know not why health Likewise,
- 6:54Speaker 7: now here it is one clue three. A couple of
- 6:57Speaker 7: weeks ago, Henriette Laurence showed up in my office from
- 6:59Speaker 7: someplace like Seattle of Port and I forget which, and
- 7:02Speaker 7: handed me an outline for a three installment serial story
- 7:05Speaker 7: that was excellent, according to our stand three days ago.
- 7:08Speaker 7: She brought in the first two installments, also excellent. But
- 7:11Speaker 7: the day before yesterday, when the third installment was due,
- 7:13Speaker 7: I was sitting in my office window when it's happened.
- 7:16Speaker 7: She only got as far as the front door. What happened,
- 7:18Speaker 7: I don't know. She saw somebody going by slowly in
- 7:21Speaker 7: the car, scared the daylights out of her, and she
- 7:23Speaker 7: hubbled for it. Yeah, she limbs use the cane anyway,
- 7:28Speaker 7: She piled into this cab and took off. Haven't had
- 7:31Speaker 7: a way from her since I'm worried.
- 7:33Speaker 8: Mallow.
- 7:33Speaker 7: She's a nervous thing, the kind would go to pieces
- 7:35Speaker 7: little ones fast. So I want you to, Oh, I
- 7:40Speaker 7: live in this stale nikerovidy, Jeanette busy?
- 7:45Speaker 6: So I see?
- 7:46Speaker 4: And what suns and gentlemen's name arem.
- 7:48Speaker 7: I supposed to get? It's Dracula Darling where counting of
- 7:50Speaker 7: white throats?
- 7:51Speaker 9: Goodbye your price, goodbye, Jeanette.
- 7:55Speaker 7: This is business strictly Well, I was only being friendly.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Excuse you have to visit.
- 8:01Speaker 7: Oh what they let loose after Jock? Anyhow, Malow, I
- 8:04Speaker 7: want you to find this girl, maybe in an awful jam. Now,
- 8:07Speaker 7: what do you want to know?
- 8:08Speaker 2: Well, description might help GG.
- 8:10Speaker 8: Okay.
- 8:11Speaker 7: Henriette is about thirty five on the drab side, no makeup,
- 8:14Speaker 7: no jewelry. Each time I saw she was wearing the
- 8:17Speaker 7: same thing, a plain brown coat, a plain of brown,
- 8:19Speaker 7: had low heels, all in all the sex appeal of
- 8:22Speaker 7: a tumbleweed.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Last address you had on her, it's the only one.
- 8:26Speaker 7: The Race Hotel for Women, Room seven. It's over on
- 8:29Speaker 7: fun Nearlsienega. But she hasn't checked back there in two
- 8:32Speaker 7: days either. A giggling flower of the old South disc
- 8:35Speaker 7: work I could talk to on the phone today hasn't
- 8:37Speaker 7: a slide aside thee a way off. But I figure
- 8:42Speaker 7: for you she might mollow you. Probably got a face
- 8:45Speaker 7: like a wet hemp. Her name is Clarice.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Well, we'll try it. Where can I reach you? GG?
- 8:50Speaker 7: My home in Brentwood, Sunnyside, nine one o one one, Yeah,
- 8:54Speaker 7: I'll stay next to the phone. Really do your best,
- 8:57Speaker 7: William Marlow.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Okay, GG, it will be my best star R. I
- 9:00Speaker 2: don't worry about it. I'll call you.
- 9:20Speaker 7: Very hotel with vallet more or what most?
- 9:23Speaker 2: Please?
- 9:25Speaker 10: Go ahead?
- 9:26Speaker 6: Oh hello?

- 9:32Speaker 2: Ah?
- 9:32Speaker 6: We alone?
- 9:34Speaker 2: Is the switchboard closed?
- 9:36Speaker 5: Oh?
- 9:37Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 9:37Speaker 6: Good.
- 9:38Speaker 2: You see, I'm a private detective named Marlow Floris.
- 9:42Speaker 9: A private detective and you know my name.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Oh, we find things out?
- 9:49Speaker 9: Oh, how can fully load me help you?
- 9:52Speaker 2: Well, it's about Henrietta Lawrence, the girl with the King.
- 9:55Speaker 2: She's in trouble and I think it's a man.
- 9:58Speaker 7: So do I?
- 10:00Speaker 9: Well, I don't know.
- 10:01Speaker 2: You sure positive?
- 10:03Speaker 9: She was always so quiet, so mysterious, it was enough
- 10:06Speaker 9: to make a body curing. So one night I followed her.
- 10:10Speaker 9: She went to Annie Stringer's Hollywood health Club. That's a
- 10:13Speaker 9: lady's Turkish bath ovin Santa Monica Boulevard and dohaney.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Mm, well maybe she ducked in there because she knew
- 10:20Speaker 2: you were following her.
- 10:20Speaker 9: Oh no, I was very careful.
- 10:23Speaker 8: Besides, she had something to say to a woman there.
- 10:26Speaker 2: I know.
- 10:26Speaker 9: I saw him talking in the doorway when I went by.
- 10:29Speaker 9: Couldn't see who it was though, No man, No, But
- 10:34Speaker 9: I keep my eyes open when she comes back.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Oh you do, just then keep them wide open, Chlorice,
- 10:40Speaker 2: their lovely eyes. Good night, honey. My client was wrong.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Chlorice did not have a face like wet hamp It
- 10:54Speaker 2: was more like a batch of biscuits. But the body
- 10:56Speaker 2: curious had provided to leave as far as the corner
- 10:59Speaker 2: of Santa Monica and Dolhemy and into the white, addiseeptic
- 11:02Speaker 2: looking reception room of Annie Stringer's Hollywood health Club Women
- 11:06Speaker 2: Only there I forgot about Clarice Hempon biscuits alike, and
- 11:10Speaker 2: talk instead about something a whole lot tastier, like the
- 11:13Speaker 2: girl who was leaning on the corner of her deskmok
- 11:15Speaker 2: information while she made pencil marks on a chart. She
- 11:19Speaker 2: looked up when I closed the door and started taught me.
- 11:22Speaker 2: When another door in the room opened and a woman
- 11:24Speaker 2: who was built like a sack of cement bore down
- 11:26Speaker 2: on me, she turned back to a shark.
- 11:28Speaker 11: Yes, sir, I help you.

- 18:29Speaker 4: you just for last.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna call on my clients. You're scramming. Come on,
- 18:48Speaker 2: Hell fallow Gg got a line on Henriette, but you're
- 18:51Speaker 2: not gonna like it much. Trouble is, she's got blackmail.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I don't know what the hook is, but I have
- 18:57Speaker 2: word of one of the bargain as it's plenty serious.
- 18:59Speaker 11: Who's doing?
- 19:00Speaker 2: A female master don named Danny Stringer? Is the big
- 19:02Speaker 2: wheel I got onto it? Throw a letter a letter, Yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 2: Annie wrote her protection letter. It's got all a dirt
- 19:08Speaker 2: in it and goes to the cops if anything happens Danny.
- 19:10Speaker 2: It's a standard routine.
- 19:11Speaker 11: Where is it letter?
- 19:12Speaker 2: Who happened? Is it double crossing little Spanish number named
- 19:16Speaker 2: Mona was supposed to meet her again in an hour
- 19:18Speaker 2: at her place.
- 19:19Speaker 11: Phil, we must get that letter.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It's no sense, Gge. Mona is not bright, but she's sly.
- 19:23Speaker 2: It's liable to be expensive.
- 19:24Speaker 7: That doesn't matter.
- 19:25Speaker 11: Okay, anything I can do to help Henriette I want
- 19:27Speaker 11: to do now more than ever.
- 19:28Speaker 2: What does that mean?
- 19:29Speaker 11: I've heard from Mamalo. She called me just a few
- 19:31Speaker 11: minutes ago.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Where was she?
- 19:32Speaker 11: That's a tough part. She was crying, said, with the
- 19:35Speaker 11: end of everything. She tried to tell me about the
- 19:37Speaker 11: last installments of the story. Then she was interrupted. She
- 19:40Speaker 11: gasped out something that sounded like American Airlines ticket office.
- 19:44Speaker 11: Then the line went dead. There are three of those
- 19:46Speaker 11: offices in town.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well we better check them. Look, can you take
- 19:49Speaker 2: the one out in Beverly Hills. I'll get the others
- 19:51Speaker 2: all right.
- 19:52Speaker 11: And Mallow, where does the Spanish thing live?
- 19:55Speaker 2: North odd More eighty three, ten, Apartment D.
- 19:57Speaker 11: I'll meet you there in an hour.
- 20:05Speaker 2: When Gigi hung up, I sent Kay to check the airline.
- 20:07Speaker 2: I was in Hollywood for a woman carrying a cane
- 20:09Speaker 2: and a big load of trouble, telling her to call
- 20:11Speaker 2: me at the Downtown agency within half an hour, and
- 20:14Speaker 2: I headed south for the office on Sixth Street. Halfway down,
- 20:17Speaker 2: it began to rain, you know, the kind of dismal,
- 20:19Speaker 2: misty drizzle. It makes your clothes smell like blankets at
- 20:21Speaker 2: a fire sail. I spent a fruitless half hour picking
- 20:25Speaker 2: at the corners and trading descriptions, and finally, when Kay
- 20:28Speaker 2: called in a negative report from the Hollywood office, it
- 20:31Speaker 2: was high time to beat it out to my appointment
- 20:32Speaker 2: with Mona. The rain had put enough dazzling sheene on
- 20:36Speaker 2: the pavement to make the going slow and slick, but
- 20:38Speaker 2: I got out eighty three to ten hours more, not
- 20:40Speaker 2: over a minute late. The apartment B was the last
- 20:43Speaker 2: time the right and completely dark. As I walked toward it,
- 20:46Speaker 2: I found myself following a set of feminine footprints rapidly
- 20:48Speaker 2: filling with water. Besides each left print was a little
- 20:51Speaker 2: round hole. By the time that registered on there, I
- 20:54Speaker 2: was already at the door. I could hear her crying inside.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I didn't wait to knock. It's me, Molo keeps sick.
- 21:01Speaker 2: What happens for you?
- 21:04Speaker 6: Phil?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Woman?
- 21:04Speaker 9: What's here waiting for me in the dark? Get a
- 21:06Speaker 9: big club?
- 21:07Speaker 7: When a Kinny should grab me and beat me with it.
- 21:09Speaker 2: It was a king, not that it makes any difference. Now, hey,
- 21:12Speaker 2: you're a province. Rush. She got the letter, Hune, she
- 21:15Speaker 2: got it loose. Look at this later later, right now,
- 21:18Speaker 2: I want to know what that letter said. You can
- 21:20Speaker 2: forget about me paying the Mexican National Debt for it.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I want it free and fast. Come on on'ce Andy
- 21:24Speaker 2: got on Henriette Lawrence, right right, she knows it. What.
- 21:31Speaker 7: Somebody's outside there?
- 21:32Speaker 2: Oh it's Gig. My name is Gig.
- 21:35Speaker 7: Oh Bill, who was justly you told me about some minute?
- 21:39Speaker 2: You you get all right? Hold it, hold it, take.
- 21:40Speaker 7: It easy, mody housekeeper sister, what happened your hat dance?
- 21:43Speaker 7: Get out of control?
- 21:44Speaker 2: Wait a minute, Wait a minute. Henriette scooped this gig.
- 21:46Speaker 2: She was here and got the letter herself. What Yes,
- 21:50Speaker 2: we're just talking about the letter when you came in.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Let's get on with it, Mona, what's big Annie's pitch?
- 21:54Speaker 7: Supposing I won't tell you now and I'll.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Have you in a pokey for attempted extortion before you
- 21:59Speaker 2: can say, Pancho Robins and beautiful Come on when okay,
- 22:04Speaker 2: that's better?
- 22:05Speaker 12: Well, you and me going, Dan, I don't know what
- 22:08Speaker 12: Henrietta Lawrence means to this.
- 22:10Speaker 7: Dragon here, But she's a murderer. Are you lying a
- 22:13Speaker 7: little to Molly talk that that's impossible? Henriette is a
- 22:16Speaker 7: fine girl.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I know what you're saying, Mona, Sure I do?
- 22:19Speaker 8: I read the letter, didn't I?
- 22:20Speaker 7: Henrietta Lawrence killed a woman in Seattle four years ago?
- 22:23Speaker 7: Any thaw r do it?
- 22:24Speaker 8: She had named, date, placed everything.
- 22:27Speaker 7: I can't believe it. I just can't. She's such a
- 22:31Speaker 7: swelled person. Look, she even left this the final installment
- 22:35Speaker 7: of the story for me and that wilshod ticket office.
- 22:38Speaker 7: What do we do?
- 22:38Speaker 2: Phil?
- 22:39Speaker 7: We got to help her?
- 22:39Speaker 2: Okay, it's neither she nor Annie counted on Mona here
- 22:43Speaker 2: reading the letter. The best way to help her is
- 22:44Speaker 2: to try to keep her from committing another murder?
- 22:47Speaker 7: Are you crazy? What are you talking about?
- 22:48Speaker 2: Come on, gig, get with it. The letter was worthless
- 22:51Speaker 2: except as Annie Stringer's protection. Yet Henrietta went to all
- 22:54Speaker 2: the trouble of getting it. Why she could shut Annie up?
- 22:57Speaker 2: And there's only one way.
- 22:57Speaker 7: To do that, killer only Machael. I didn't even think
- 23:01Speaker 7: you shoot Senora. You got nothing else to work.
- 23:04Speaker 2: We dropped. Stop it better stay clear of it from
- 23:08Speaker 2: here on. Gig, you go home and wait for me.
- 23:10Speaker 7: Okay, soil, whatever you say, call me as soon as
- 23:12Speaker 7: you can.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Sure, sure, all right, come on, MoMA, let's go me.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Yes, oh no, migo.
- 23:18Speaker 8: The letter's gone and so is Mona's interest.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I'm listen you. You cut yourself in on this right
- 23:26Speaker 2: at the Ismbrero. You know any so you may be
- 23:27Speaker 2: able to help me. It's that I spend the night
- 23:30Speaker 2: Nicola added up sweetheart on the lay.
- 23:32Speaker 8: All right, it's so forceful, a migo, Come on, let's go.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Land. He's not in her apartment, she's not around the
- 23:48Speaker 2: health club. What's next? Moment? What else would she be?
- 23:51Speaker 8: Touch me?
- 23:51Speaker 2: And migo think? Will you? She had any appointments slightly
- 23:55Speaker 2: that didn't fit with a regular routine.
- 23:56Speaker 12: Well, she went out on Fountain Avenue in a big hurry, a.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Couple of about Avenue. That's why Henriette has been staying
- 24:02Speaker 2: in a hotel out there.
- 24:03Speaker 4: The break hooker.
- 24:04Speaker 2: That's it on the nose. Is any dumb enough to
- 24:07Speaker 2: go there?
- 24:07Speaker 12: I'm sure she's stupid and her strength makes her wreck.
- 24:11Speaker 2: That's it. Let's go, Come on, moment's here on the
- 24:22Speaker 2: first floor.
- 24:28Speaker 10: It's you again, mister man, it's me again, Clarissa, miss
- 24:32Speaker 10: loans number seven. Well, you're sure and luck mister Maloh,
- 24:35Speaker 10: she's in now. She came back about a half hour
- 24:38Speaker 10: ago with a friend, the biggest woman I ever saw
- 24:41Speaker 10: any it's true.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Member, you are right, yeah, come on, let's get back there.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Mister Marl. You can't go back there.
- 24:46Speaker 9: Your man in this hotel phone.
- 24:48Speaker 2: You've got a past there aperture. Come on. This entire night,
- 24:51Speaker 2: from start to finished, has been for women only getting
- 24:53Speaker 2: a second tired of a present company included a number seven.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Listen right here, Henrietta, unlock at Chlorie's fast, get back.
- 25:11Speaker 9: Honey, big a knife.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Yeah, go ahead, and screamed Clarice, get it over with.
- 25:20Speaker 2: We have missus Laurence, you know, doubt left by the
- 25:24Speaker 2: window here and it's still open, only five feet to
- 25:29Speaker 2: the ground, and a clear set of footprints in the
- 25:30Speaker 2: wet dirt, cane marks and all.
- 25:32Speaker 8: Just like just like what mister morlow I.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Started to say, like the ones I saw earlier. Sure,
- 25:39Speaker 2: the lasting to him on the story the let her
- 25:41Speaker 2: at Mona's the airline ticket. Now she's out of a
- 25:44Speaker 2: slick as a whistle. Clorie's call the cops here, give
- 25:46Speaker 2: him my cart. I'll get in touch where you go,
- 25:48Speaker 2: miss Morlow, to break the unpleasant news as gently as
- 25:51Speaker 2: possible of my client.
- 25:53Speaker 7: What about me?
- 25:53Speaker 2: What will I do?
- 25:54Speaker 9: Now?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Just keep looking at any beautiful chiseling double crossing jerk.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Maybe I learned something, but I'm not going to count
- 25:59Speaker 2: on it. Gigi had a lot of lights on in
- 26:13Speaker 2: a glossy Brentwood house, and as I walked up the wet,
- 26:16Speaker 2: curving flagstones to a door, I could see her inside,
- 26:19Speaker 2: pacing slowly back and forth, an impatient cigarette in one hand,
- 26:22Speaker 2: a stiff brace of brandy in the other. Whatever gg
- 26:25Speaker 2: Armsby really thought of felt about Henriette Lawrence lenn I
- 26:28Speaker 2: couldn't tell, but I was sure that before I left
- 26:31Speaker 2: she was going to despise it.
- 26:33Speaker 7: Phil, I've been waiting for you to phone me. I
- 26:37Speaker 7: something bad, isn't that? I can see it in your face.
- 26:39Speaker 2: We found any Stringer's body gig in Henriette's hotel room.
- 26:44Speaker 8: Ah, what a dirty, dirty shame.
- 26:46Speaker 2: And Henriette gone. But she won't get far, not this time.
- 26:51Speaker 2: The circle gets smaller every time. She can't keep on killing.
- 26:54Speaker 2: It's got to stop someplace.
- 26:55Speaker 7: Yeah, I suppose so, But I'm sorry for her. Phil.
- 27:00Speaker 7: I hope she got a plane ticket tonight and is
- 27:01Speaker 7: miles away by morning. I hope she gets a break
- 27:04Speaker 7: this time.
- 27:05Speaker 2: She didn't buy a ticket. She's not even running and
- 27:08Speaker 2: she won't get that break.
- 27:10Speaker 7: You talk as if you know where she is.
- 27:11Speaker 6: Do you?
- 27:13Speaker 2: You've been to Seattle, haven't you?
- 27:14Speaker 7: Gig of course, but not for years.
- 27:17Speaker 2: You lived there. You were a writer before you became
- 27:19Speaker 2: a publisher. Why what is this You knew Annie Stringer
- 27:23Speaker 2: along before the night too? Gg huh?
- 27:25Speaker 7: What are you driving at Marlow?
- 27:27Speaker 2: But your real name is Henriette Lawrence, that you killed
- 27:30Speaker 2: a woman in Seattle once changed your name and got away.
- 27:32Speaker 2: But there was a witness and a couple of weeks ago,
- 27:35Speaker 2: purely buy a chance that witness, Andy Stringer ran Andy,
- 27:37Speaker 2: you recognized you was Henriette and granted the chance for blackmail.
- 27:42Speaker 2: So you had to bring Henriette Lawrence back to life
- 27:44Speaker 2: just long enough to get rid of the witness. At first,
- 27:47Speaker 2: you had to get a letter she written, and also
- 27:48Speaker 2: have someone who tell a straight story to the cops,
- 27:51Speaker 2: say you hired me planet the right leads along the way.
- 27:53Speaker 2: You can wait my desk. I'll try it. Gg. You
- 27:56Speaker 2: can't win, so at least lose gracefully with you.
- 28:00Speaker 7: This was in one of my books. No one wanted
- 28:02Speaker 7: to believe it. You're right, I can't win. It's all true, Phil,
- 28:10Speaker 7: Where was a loophole?
- 28:11Speaker 2: It started only as a hunch, but everything fit. I
- 28:15Speaker 2: got it from the cane you use, Gigi at Mona's place.
- 28:18Speaker 2: The cane marks were on the left side of your tracks.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Outside the hotel window they were on the right. Anybody
- 28:24Speaker 2: who really has to use a cane couldn't do.
- 28:26Speaker 7: That, such a little thing.
- 28:28Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, it was.
- 28:31Speaker 7: Look, Mallow, you're the only person between me and that break.
- 28:35Speaker 7: I got more money than I know what to do with.
- 28:38Speaker 7: I can bid high, really high. You wouldn't be for sale, would.
- 28:42Speaker 2: You, No, baby, just for hire? Get you coaches. You
- 28:48Speaker 2: were going down a headquarters, getting the whole business down
- 29:04Speaker 2: on police stationary, one orderly step at a time, because
- 29:08Speaker 2: the process is full of well as full as the
- 29:12Speaker 2: fiscal report of the First National Bank for twice as
- 29:15Speaker 2: long a whip up. But finally it was all over,
- 29:19Speaker 2: and I was on my way home to my bachelor apartment,
- 29:23Speaker 2: and then I remembered some.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Mad explaining what took you so long?
- 29:29Speaker 6: Darling?
- 29:30Speaker 4: You're here now. Dinner is ready and waiting. The martinis
- 29:34Speaker 4: are ice cold. Just come on in and close the door.
- 29:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:05Speaker 3: The Adventures of Philip Marlowe bringing You Raymond Chandler's most
- 30:08Speaker 3: famous character, star Gerald Moore, are produced and directed by
- 30:12Speaker 3: Norman McDonald and are written for radio by Robert Mitchell
- 30:15Speaker 3: and Gene Leavitt. Featured in the cast where Jeanette Nolan,
- 30:19Speaker 3: gb Hunter, Constance Crowder, Lillian Bayeth, Gene Bates, and Michael
- 30:23Speaker 3: Ann Barrett. The special music is composed and conducted by
- 30:27Speaker 3: Richard o'rant. Be shorten, be with us again next week,
- 30:34Speaker 3: when Philip Marlowe says.
- 30:36Speaker 2: This time a friend with millions, a my epic chemist,
- 30:39Speaker 2: and a long haired piano player, but thrown into a
- 30:42Speaker 2: panic because a brilliant young lady with a gun was
- 30:45Speaker 2: taking a big step in the wrong direction.
- 31:00Speaker 3: CBS wishes to remind you that Lemon Abner's wonderful down
- 31:04Speaker 3: to Earth Cracker Barrel Humor is heard every week on
- 31:07Speaker 3: most of these same CBS stations. This is CBS, the
- 31:12Speaker 3: Columbia Broadcasting system. This is Andrew J. Graham, author of
- 31:33Speaker 3: the web surface series Oh and a Man and his Wife.
- 31:36Speaker 3: You're listening to the great Detectives of Old time Radio.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Welcome back. Well. A very unusual, albeit very enjoyable story.
- 31:53Speaker 1: This is a very rare story with the all female
- 31:57Speaker 1: guest cast. It's something you'd see on occasion, but very rare.
- 32:02Speaker 1: The only other time I remember hearing something like this
- 32:06Speaker 1: was an episode of suspense from the early days, early
- 32:12Speaker 1: nineteen forties. But here you have a cast all women,
- 32:16Speaker 1: and some with a few roles that they typically wouldn't play,
- 32:21Speaker 1: at least not all in the same piece. So a
- 32:24Speaker 1: very interesting story the way it plays out. Also, I
- 32:27Speaker 1: did enjoy the commercials for Doctor Christian, very tantalizing. Always
- 32:33Speaker 1: have enjoyed that show, though my listening has mostly been
- 32:37Speaker 1: to the first couple of seasons. Latter eras got into
- 32:41Speaker 1: situations where what the show was about would be determined
- 32:46Speaker 1: by a writing contest from the listeners, which helped the
- 32:51Speaker 1: series to last a long time. At this point, Doctor
- 32:55Speaker 1: Christian had been on the air for more than twelve years,
- 32:59Speaker 1: and it would actually outlast The Adventures of Philip Marlow. Well,
- 33:03Speaker 1: now we turn to listener comments and feedback, and this
- 33:11Speaker 1: one comes regarding the long Arm. Francis says, I love
- 33:17Speaker 1: Gerald Morris Marlow. This story is a good one with
- 33:21Speaker 1: some excellent acting from an excellent cast. Well, thanks so
- 33:25Speaker 1: much and for the comment. And really you do see
- 33:29Speaker 1: the quality of the cast, particularly you know, in this
- 33:32Speaker 1: episode you have an all female cast, and I think
- 33:35Speaker 1: it's just an excellently dumb program. So all right, well,
- 33:39Speaker 1: we hope you enjoyed this week's episode. I'll be back
- 33:44Speaker 1: tomorrow with Nick Carter and then join us again next
- 33:47Speaker 1: Wednesday for another episode of the Adventures of Philip Marlow.
