- 0:00Speaker 1: Today we're going to dive into tokenized assets and what
- 0:02Speaker 1: that means for the markets. You don't want to miss it.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Let's just jump right in. I do want to thank
- 0:06Speaker 1: our sponsor today and that is Coinbase. You guys can
- 0:09Speaker 1: jump over to coinbase dot com use our link. It's
- 0:12Speaker 1: going to help us out, but it also gives you
- 0:13Speaker 1: guys a little bit of a feedback on when you
- 0:16Speaker 1: make your first trade available on financing, you can get
- 0:18Speaker 1: do some morpho lending over there. They've got a lot,
- 0:21Speaker 1: of course, the new credit card, a lot of activity
- 0:24Speaker 1: over on the coinbase platform. Check it out using our
- 0:27Speaker 1: link to get started. Now we're going to have a
- 0:29Speaker 1: guest on here in a second, but before we bring
- 0:31Speaker 1: her in, I want to frame up something around token
- 0:34Speaker 1: ised securities in general. You've probably seen our videos before
- 0:39Speaker 1: with securitized and Carlos he's been on before a little
- 0:43Speaker 1: bit about Securitize. This is a company and the course
- 0:45Speaker 1: is very tied into token is securities around Blackrock.
- 0:48Speaker 2: This of course was a partnership with fg Nexus.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Which is going to natively tokenize its public shares on ethereum.
- 0:56Speaker 2: So Fgenexus is going to be the.
- 0:58Speaker 1: First Nasdaq listed company to bring dividend paying preferred equity
- 1:03Speaker 1: fully on chain. So we thought, hey, let's get the
- 1:06Speaker 1: CEO on and talk it over a little bit.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So how are you, Maya.
- 1:11Speaker 3: I'm doing great and good afternoon to you.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Paul, and I just found out we're in Miami together,
- 1:15Speaker 4: so it's just great to see you.
- 1:17Speaker 2: It is. It has been great. Listen.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I was looking at the securitized website. There's something interesting
- 1:22Speaker 1: about this that I thought was intriguing. If you look
- 1:25Speaker 1: at the profile this being a public stock. I'll zoom
- 1:28Speaker 1: in on that so people can kind of see that
- 1:30Speaker 1: asset class tokenized public stock because some of the other
- 1:35Speaker 1: potentials here within the securitized ecosystem don't necessarily have those
- 1:40Speaker 1: kinds of frameworks around how this stock is done. First,
- 1:44Speaker 1: let's kind of jump into whether or not this is
- 1:47Speaker 1: going to have a credited investment and lockups. Can you
- 1:51Speaker 1: explain a little bit more about how you guys went
- 1:53Speaker 1: about setting this up.
- 1:54Speaker 4: There is a reason, first of all, why we chose securitize.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I think you were right earlier. I mean, Carlos has
- 2:00Speaker 4: been early in this industry. I go back with Carlos
- 2:02Speaker 4: early days. You know, when they just started us in
- 2:04Speaker 4: twenty seventeen because I was already circling around T zero
- 2:08Speaker 4: at the time. T zero, you know, Patrick was kind
- 2:10Speaker 4: of early and seeing this vision of tokenization. Carlos and
- 2:13Speaker 4: I May were also early, and I think that one
- 2:17Speaker 4: of the reasons why we kind of partnered with them
- 2:20Speaker 4: is everything that you just mentioned now you cannot do
- 2:24Speaker 4: unless you are regulated end to end stack and that's
- 2:26Speaker 4: what securities it, right, and so another thing that we've
- 2:30Speaker 4: when we looked at this, we kind of said, look,
- 2:32Speaker 4: we need a proven institutional scale and it's the you know,
- 2:36Speaker 4: tokenization provider behind Blackrock built right first tokenized Blackrock fond
- 2:41Speaker 4: and Ethereum, So I think that was another reason.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Why we chose it. And really we you know, make.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Equities and payouts programmable essentially. This is why we've done it, right.
- 2:52Speaker 4: We use Ethereum rails our underlying asset of digital asset
- 2:56Speaker 4: strategy that we've chosen as Ethereum, and we use Ethereum
- 2:59Speaker 4: rails for dividing and buybacks and near real time settlement
- 3:03Speaker 4: while keeping.
- 3:03Speaker 3: The full kind of transfer agent records. Right. That's why
- 3:06Speaker 3: blockchains are really good because of that transparency. So that's exactly.
- 3:09Speaker 4: How also build stream on chain income to the white
- 3:14Speaker 4: listed wallets as well. So I think we plug into
- 3:17Speaker 4: institutional liquidity.
- 3:18Speaker 3: You know as well.
- 3:20Speaker 4: And I think it just allows much much faster, much safer,
- 3:24Speaker 4: a much more transparent way of distributing our sock.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Can you explain the treasury itself, because we were seeing
- 3:32Speaker 1: a lot of digital asset treasuries coming out within this
- 3:35Speaker 1: Obviously eth is one of the biggest ones out.
- 3:37Speaker 2: There, but explain a little bit more.
- 3:40Speaker 1: First of all, why go this route, because there's a
- 3:44Speaker 1: variety of ways that this.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Could have been done.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Why go this route and kind of jump into a
- 3:48Speaker 1: very competitive dat space right now?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Yeah? Good, good question.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Look I've been early in the space since twenty ten,
- 3:55Speaker 4: and you know, I wrote the Bigcoin kind of wave
- 3:58Speaker 4: early days, and then I wrote the Ico days as well,
- 4:03Speaker 4: early in kind of twenty thirteen, fourteen, fifteen sixteen, and
- 4:08Speaker 4: then Defy summer later as well. I think what's interesting
- 4:11Speaker 4: about this is this is a massive megaphone for crypto,
- 4:16Speaker 4: right think about it. The digital asset companies now are
- 4:20Speaker 4: suddenly you know, public. You can discuss them on CNBC,
- 4:24Speaker 4: you can discuss them on shows like this right where
- 4:27Speaker 4: institutional investors are lisiting, and so.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I do think that that's interesting.
- 4:32Speaker 4: The second part that's really interesting, This is not anymore
- 4:35Speaker 4: about hype.
- 4:35Speaker 3: This is really about infrastructure, okay.
- 4:38Speaker 4: And so the reason why we've chosen Ethereum as well
- 4:41Speaker 4: is because it is a programmable asset.
- 4:44Speaker 3: It's a yield bearing asset. You know, it does provide.
- 4:49Speaker 4: It's an infraplay versus just a kind of you know,
- 4:53Speaker 4: price go up play, right, So there is a reason
- 4:56Speaker 4: why we've chosen that as well.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And we do think that these types of platforms really allow.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Retail investors to come in and really bet on not
- 5:06Speaker 4: just on an asset, but on the management and the
- 5:08Speaker 4: future of on chain economy.
- 5:09Speaker 3: And that's part of the reason why we also.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Chose in Etheroereum is because we actually do believe on
- 5:14Speaker 4: that on chain economy and kind of build out that's
- 5:17Speaker 4: going to happen in that space.
- 5:19Speaker 1: You know, in looking at your site, you guys can
- 5:21Speaker 1: are a little bit learn a little bit about FGX.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It's just go to Fgenexus dot io. But you've got
- 5:26Speaker 1: your partners listed there. Obviously, this isn't necessarily everybody that's involved,
- 5:30Speaker 1: because Citadels involved in this DCGs there First of all,
- 5:34Speaker 1: who else is backing this?
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so what you see on our website, those are partners, right.
- 5:40Speaker 4: We have a Galaxy as our treasury management, right, and
- 5:43Speaker 4: then we have Anchorage and Bitgo and our custody Crack
- 5:46Speaker 4: and also and so we have many investors right as
- 5:49Speaker 4: you mentioned points seventy two Citadel.
- 5:53Speaker 3: DCG, and we've.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Got loads of traditional investors who maybe one thing that
- 5:59Speaker 4: is important to mention. When we started to raise, Paul,
- 6:03Speaker 4: it was in July. There were ten other eight companies
- 6:07Speaker 4: that were trying to raise and go to market and
- 6:09Speaker 4: none of them are in the market now, and so I.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Think again we named the.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Company f G Nexus because it is a nexus of
- 6:17Speaker 4: trad fi and of deep crypto, right with my background
- 6:21Speaker 4: in crypto since twenty ten and deep involvement at GE
- 6:24Speaker 4: of launching a first trade finance deal and ethereum between
- 6:26Speaker 4: JP Morgan and GE.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And then on the other.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Side, Kyle who has been who worked for Port seventy
- 6:32Speaker 4: two for a long time and Tier Price and has
- 6:35Speaker 4: a deep experience as an operator. Plus our advisor, who's
- 6:38Speaker 4: Joe Moglia who was a chairman and CEO of a
- 6:41Speaker 4: TV ror trade, right, and so that's a nexus of
- 6:44Speaker 4: combination of people that is also very different than from
- 6:48Speaker 4: other dats in the space, because other dats are either
- 6:50Speaker 4: pure crypto bros.
- 6:52Speaker 3: As I say, there are.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Trad fi guys who have a hard time kind of
- 6:56Speaker 4: you know, looping into crypto. What you really need is
- 7:00Speaker 4: combination of two in order to kind of make this
- 7:02Speaker 4: a long term success.
- 7:04Speaker 1: We've had quite a few of them on the show.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I mean, we've had the eight machine on here. You know,
- 7:10Speaker 1: you know BTCS has been on here, but right there,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you guys are holding the number fourteen slot.
- 7:16Speaker 2: So nice move there.
- 7:17Speaker 1: How long before you flip the US government in terms
- 7:19Speaker 1: of holdings on it?
- 7:23Speaker 3: I like the positivity we I mean, look, our priority.
- 7:26Speaker 4: Right now is growing eight per share, So we have
- 7:29Speaker 4: a five billion dollar ATM that we're using, and I
- 7:33Speaker 4: think that's very interesting. The long term play, you know,
- 7:37Speaker 4: really is to also turn this into an operating business,
- 7:41Speaker 4: right and participate into organization. So we're exploring some different
- 7:44Speaker 4: ways at the moment where right now we are buying
- 7:46Speaker 4: eight staking eth exploring some DeFi opportunities too, and so
- 7:51Speaker 4: the focus in the next I would say, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 4: short term focus is really just on acquiring eth.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Well and the spin.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I think from a dividend standpoint, this starts to separate
- 8:01Speaker 1: you guys from many of many others that when you
- 8:04Speaker 1: look at investors that are maybe trying to go in
- 8:06Speaker 1: this direction and understand it because it's not always crypto
- 8:09Speaker 1: people that are investing in these companies that are making
- 8:11Speaker 1: these plays. If you look at just what Tom Lee
- 8:14Speaker 1: is doing with bitmin, it's impressive because I think he's
- 8:18Speaker 1: starting to draw in a lot of traditional finance for sure.
- 8:21Speaker 1: What is the difference between FG and nexus and like
- 8:25Speaker 1: what sharplink and bitmine are doing. What would be the
- 8:28Speaker 1: thing you're selling position?
- 8:30Speaker 4: Yeah, sure, I think there are a couple of differentiators. One,
- 8:32Speaker 4: as I mentioned, is the nexus of people that are involved.
- 8:35Speaker 4: We're number one all operators. There's nobody here that's here
- 8:39Speaker 4: for just one trade. I've been in crypto for last
- 8:42Speaker 4: thirteen plus years. You know, I came in because of bitcoin,
- 8:45Speaker 4: but I'm staying because of Bitcoin and ethereum and these
- 8:48Speaker 4: programmable assets that are really going to change the way
- 8:50Speaker 4: we operate and run finance today. So I think number
- 8:53Speaker 4: one is our team. Number two is our operational backgrounds.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Number three is our long term focus. We actually want
- 9:01Speaker 4: to participate in the ecosystem and in tokenization and stable coins.
- 9:06Speaker 4: I mean, look, Paul, you know in the next couple
- 9:08Speaker 4: of months and in the next year, I mean certainly
- 9:12Speaker 4: that short of a period of time, you will start
- 9:14Speaker 4: to see a lot of corporate treasuries come out and
- 9:17Speaker 4: you know, launch their own blockchains, launch their own stable coins.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Try to get yield on that, right, that's.
- 9:23Speaker 4: The name of the game, right, because this technology has
- 9:25Speaker 4: been able to unlock some incredible ways that people can
- 9:29Speaker 4: you know, decentralize and can can earn revenue. So I
- 9:34Speaker 4: think we are really well positioned because we're all builders
- 9:37Speaker 4: and we come from a kind of a builder mentality,
- 9:41Speaker 4: very global mindset. You know, Miami's a sixteenth place in
- 9:45Speaker 4: the world. I live in I operated in emerging markets
- 9:47Speaker 4: for over eight years understanding how money moves. I started
- 9:51Speaker 4: immobile payments in Africa and Latime, and so I think
- 9:54Speaker 4: this is just a natural progression.
- 9:56Speaker 3: And so for us, if we believe in.
- 9:58Speaker 4: On chain economy, then you know, this is a long
- 10:01Speaker 4: term opportunity. And plus having a vehicle like this that
- 10:05Speaker 4: we do, which is which is a publicly traded vehicle.
- 10:08Speaker 4: It's a huge opportunity because think about how many crypto
- 10:10Speaker 4: companies want to go public, right, and this becomes a
- 10:14Speaker 4: vehicle through which you can acquire some of those assets.
- 10:17Speaker 1: What are you guys using for you know, staking and
- 10:20Speaker 1: earning yield.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah, So our partners on that are Anchorage and Bitcom.
- 10:25Speaker 3: That's we've chosen that in the beginning.
- 10:28Speaker 4: We're not doing any of that on our own, so
- 10:30Speaker 4: we Encorage and our partners at the moment. We will
- 10:35Speaker 4: obviously expand that to other partnerships once we expand our
- 10:38Speaker 4: holdings too, but we are starting with staking only because
- 10:43Speaker 4: remember right, crypto is still very nascent in the sense
- 10:47Speaker 4: that there's a lot of smart contract risk and the.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Higher and yield you go, the more risky it is.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Sure.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Yeah, And because we are a publicly traded company, everything
- 10:56Speaker 4: is public, everything is reported to sec we you know,
- 11:00Speaker 4: we are looked at under a loop. So we have
- 11:02Speaker 4: to be really careful of how we explore the next
- 11:04Speaker 4: opportunities in this in.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Terms of paying out dividends, because I know Charles with BTCS,
- 11:10Speaker 1: they did a little bit of a payback so to speak.
- 11:15Speaker 1: If you were holding shares, how does it work with
- 11:18Speaker 1: what FG nexus is doing around the dividend payouts.
- 11:21Speaker 4: It does get interesting around our perpetual preferred and maybe
- 11:24Speaker 4: I can answer that question. You know, traditionally, if you
- 11:27Speaker 4: hold preferred shares, right, dividends are processed through layers of
- 11:32Speaker 4: transfer agents, clearing houses, custodians.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Right, It's slow, messy, definitely not.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Real time, right, And so what we're doing is tokenizing
- 11:42Speaker 4: those preferred shares on ethereum, and that means that dividends
- 11:45Speaker 4: are declared, the payout can be you know, streamed directly
- 11:48Speaker 4: to the holder's wallet, essentially automatically on chain to whitelisted investors.
- 11:54Speaker 4: So in the same kind of legal dividends, same rights,
- 11:57Speaker 4: just delivered through a blockchain rails instead of legacy intermediaries.
- 12:01Speaker 4: But that's the only thing at the moment that we
- 12:03Speaker 4: can discuss in terms of.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Mart divisis no I want to revisit maya back to
- 12:08Speaker 1: the idea of KYC versus non KYC. So this is
- 12:12Speaker 1: kind of the framework that's being looked at out there
- 12:15Speaker 1: right now. And this is the example I was given
- 12:17Speaker 1: you earlier on xdo's non KYC Noel Gardens. This is
- 12:21Speaker 1: kind of what's happening. I think maybe around next generation investors.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Versus where we will see.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Traditional finance investors move to I'm just kind of curious
- 12:31Speaker 1: when you look at those two do you think that's
- 12:34Speaker 1: two separate markets or do you think they could start
- 12:36Speaker 1: to kind of blend.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I love it.
- 12:39Speaker 4: That's such a crypto native question, and I can tell
- 12:42Speaker 4: that you've been doing this for a while. Look, if
- 12:45Speaker 4: you ask a traditional and hardcore crypto person, they would.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Probably tell you no KYC, right, yeah, yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 4: I think being realistic in the world that we live in,
- 12:55Speaker 4: I think it's a blend. It's not a you know,
- 12:58Speaker 4: it's going towards a blend, not a kind of a separation.
- 13:02Speaker 4: I think traditional finance isn't just going to disappear. It
- 13:05Speaker 4: is evolving, so, you know, I do think that you
- 13:09Speaker 4: will need to have k y C and a lot.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Of instances that won't just go away.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I do think, though, to your point, you will have
- 13:16Speaker 4: two separate worlds. You will have a crypto which you
- 13:19Speaker 4: have till now right, you have a full on crypto
- 13:23Speaker 4: world that runs without k y C, you know, the
- 13:25Speaker 4: centralized exchanges and et cetera. And then you have the
- 13:27Speaker 4: world of coinbases, right, and that has to operate under
- 13:31Speaker 4: certain rules under SEC and other regulatory authorities.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Around the world.
- 13:36Speaker 4: So I do think that both will exist, but I
- 13:39Speaker 4: do think that they will blend in some capacity.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Interesting because I think the transition is going to be there.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You're right, it's not going to be just a one
- 13:48Speaker 1: or the other kind of situation because it's going to
- 13:50Speaker 1: take years to kind of get this rolling in.
- 13:52Speaker 2: But I'm very intrigued.
- 13:53Speaker 1: On which one is going to get the most speed
- 13:56Speaker 1: to market, you know, in terms of uptake, especially with
- 13:59Speaker 1: new generation investors coming in. If you think about gen
- 14:02Speaker 1: Z and younger millennials who are going to start acquiring
- 14:06Speaker 1: some wealth here, especially during this bull run, this really
- 14:09Speaker 1: may open up some opportunities there for both possibly, you know, I.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Would say depends. Imagine if tomorrow Black Croc.
- 14:17Speaker 4: Decided to tokenize trillions of dollars of their assets.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I mean, do you think that will be without KYC No, Right,
- 14:26Speaker 3: So depends, Right, if you if you.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Have a massive player in traditional finance that has a
- 14:31Speaker 4: lot of assets and it comes into a market, that
- 14:33Speaker 4: will probably run a little bit more traditional, right, it
- 14:36Speaker 4: will require Now the rest I think you're absolutely right
- 14:41Speaker 4: in the traditional crypto markets in retail. I think that
- 14:44Speaker 4: will run much faster, but it would it would not.
- 14:47Speaker 4: You know, it will still require large amounts of volume
- 14:49Speaker 4: because remember crypto still needs a lot liquidity, and liquidity
- 14:53Speaker 4: comes from institutional finance.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, no doubt, and that that's I think
- 14:58Speaker 1: the strength around it. But and you got to look
- 15:00Speaker 1: at the global trade mechanism that's out there within. You know,
- 15:04Speaker 1: even if you go back and look at what's happening
- 15:05Speaker 1: with polymarket right now. We just did a show on
- 15:07Speaker 1: this where polymoch obviously trading with or now partner with Ice,
- 15:11Speaker 1: which is the New York Stock owns the New York
- 15:13Speaker 1: Stock Exchange. That starts to change things pretty quickly if
- 15:17Speaker 1: they're if we get into a global community around something
- 15:20Speaker 1: like that, just on the prediction market side of things,
- 15:22Speaker 1: so a lot of opportunity. What about S and P
- 15:25Speaker 1: five hundred companies and them putting assets digital assets, ether
- 15:31Speaker 1: or bitcoin on their balance sheet. We're starting to see
- 15:34Speaker 1: more companies going in this direction. What do you think
- 15:37Speaker 1: they're going to choose a McDonald's, a Microsoft, an Apple?
- 15:41Speaker 2: Would they would they go ether? Bitcoin?
- 15:44Speaker 3: I think they'll go bitcoin.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Why haven't we seen that happen yet?
- 15:47Speaker 3: I think you're starting to slowly see it happen.
- 15:50Speaker 2: So all time, Hi, what are we going to buy?
- 15:53Speaker 3: The Top by the Canary? You and I were doing
- 15:56Speaker 3: the show. It's back at one twenty.
- 15:57Speaker 4: I think by the way, markets have come down significantly,
- 16:01Speaker 4: I think since this morning. But I think, look, Paul,
- 16:06Speaker 4: I think you and I can agree on something. People
- 16:08Speaker 4: like you and I are very impatient. We've been in
- 16:10Speaker 4: crypto for a while and we wont things yesterday. So look,
- 16:14Speaker 4: I think things are going to happen. It takes a while,
- 16:16Speaker 4: right we You know, I have real conversations with family
- 16:19Speaker 4: offices and CEOs and company.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 16:22Speaker 4: One question that I get all the time is why
- 16:24Speaker 4: would I own an asset I don't even know.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Who created it?
- 16:28Speaker 4: That's I have to start there, right, you know, I
- 16:32Speaker 4: have to start and answering a question of who created
- 16:34Speaker 4: bitcoin and why and why should we own it?
- 16:36Speaker 3: Even though we don't know the answer to that question.
- 16:40Speaker 4: And so remember that's that's quite a quite a lift, right,
- 16:44Speaker 4: So I think a lot of people I.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Remember those I remember those questions and those answers in
- 16:49Speaker 1: the early days of the internet. Why would I own
- 16:52Speaker 1: an asset that you know as a pet rock. Yes,
- 16:54Speaker 1: we had the conversations with you know people, but we.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Still have them.
- 16:58Speaker 4: To your point, we still have them, So people are
- 17:00Speaker 4: you know, thinking about However, I don't know if you've
- 17:02Speaker 4: noticed what happened in the last couple of days with
- 17:04Speaker 4: government shut down.
- 17:06Speaker 3: The basically bitcoin and gold have gone up, right, these
- 17:09Speaker 3: hardcore assets have gone up right. And I'm not sure.
- 17:12Speaker 4: It's not specifically because government was shut down and that's
- 17:15Speaker 4: the reason why everything you know searched. But I do
- 17:18Speaker 4: think it's a combination of things, right, It's it's really
- 17:21Speaker 4: people losing kind of faith in the government. And really
- 17:25Speaker 4: US dollar has gone down eleven percent this year. That's
- 17:28Speaker 4: that's not a small amount.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I think that you've got such a framework right now,
- 17:33Speaker 1: setting up regulatory framework is coming into play. The markets,
- 17:38Speaker 1: of course themselves, have started to create a lot of frauth.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Whether you look at gold, the s and P five hundred,
- 17:44Speaker 1: where bitcoin is and the opportunity even with if you
- 17:47Speaker 1: look at silver, the opportunity. I think now a lot
- 17:49Speaker 1: of companies on the sidelines are thinking, I'm holding dollars
- 17:52Speaker 1: over here in my treasury and I'm losing all this
- 17:55Speaker 1: opportunity as my dollars debase, So that is my real question.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Even though the are opportunities to invest in companies like
- 18:02Speaker 1: yourself where you can kind of leverage against that. So
- 18:05Speaker 1: there are some benefits that Let's talk about the potential.
- 18:09Speaker 1: You know, obviously your background with GE and integrating blockchain,
- 18:14Speaker 1: especially if you look at supply chain, you look at provenance,
- 18:18Speaker 1: the potential. That was where I first started in crypto,
- 18:22Speaker 1: was learning about crypto and the early days of how supply.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Chain was going to be utilized.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And when I first looked at it, that was where
- 18:29Speaker 1: I had the most skepticism of the use case because
- 18:33Speaker 1: it was way way back in terms of what we've
- 18:36Speaker 1: seen now in terms of smart contract development. But do
- 18:39Speaker 1: you think we'll see companies like GE someone like that,
- 18:43Speaker 1: or maybe McDonald's hold Ethereum or start to put more
- 18:47Speaker 1: of their own infrastructure on blockchain.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Yeah? Absolutely, I think.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Funny you mentioned supply chain early days at GE. You know,
- 18:57Speaker 4: I had companies who were building that who came to
- 18:59Speaker 4: me as we were disrupting block supply chain with blockchain,
- 19:03Speaker 4: and to me, that was the that was the worst. Yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 4: I remember IBM launching mangos on blockchain, right, remember that, well,
- 19:11Speaker 4: I it was to me it was complete BS.
- 19:13Speaker 3: To be very honest, it was, yes, exactly, this is.
- 19:16Speaker 4: This is crazy. This is not how you use these things.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Number one use case for me at GE when I
- 19:22Speaker 4: went to present, because I brought Joe Lubin into GE early.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Days, was.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Data analytics and predictive analytics. It was the IoT. That's
- 19:33Speaker 4: where you had AI agents and machine learning combined with blockchain.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Right, and this is twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, we.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Talked about it, right, that's where the real use cases
- 19:41Speaker 4: are and that the companies are already doing right because
- 19:44Speaker 4: remember industrials were earliest in machine learning and AI. They've
- 19:48Speaker 4: been doing AI machine learning for the last twenty twenty
- 19:50Speaker 4: five years when it wasn't a really sexy conversation. So
- 19:54Speaker 4: I also had an idea to use the actual electricity
- 19:59Speaker 4: from airline because when GE produces turbines they have to
- 20:03Speaker 4: spin them for a liability reasons. They produce one hundred
- 20:06Speaker 4: and twenty megawatts of electricity and I wanted to use
- 20:08Speaker 4: that electricity off taket in my bitcoin right, but it
- 20:12Speaker 4: wasn't allowed to do that because bitcoin was used for.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Porn and drugs, and therefore I could do it really
- 20:18Speaker 3: early days.
- 20:19Speaker 4: So I think, look, the companies will start to a
- 20:23Speaker 4: lot of companies these days have a little pilots on
- 20:26Speaker 4: the side, and so they will start to use ethereum
- 20:29Speaker 4: or other l ones to try to test the real
- 20:32Speaker 4: use cases. Absolutely, and I think that this is exactly
- 20:34Speaker 4: what they should be doing.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Well.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I think we're going to start to see it. It's
- 20:38Speaker 1: going to make its way into mainstream business, especially in
- 20:42Speaker 1: understanding how these markets play out. My last question for you, Maya,
- 20:45Speaker 1: is this when you look at the market of token
- 20:48Speaker 1: IS securities and you look at stable coins. All right,
- 20:52Speaker 1: so consider the growth of l Two's the potential here
- 20:56Speaker 1: for both those two markets, stable coin versus token I security.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Which one do you think is going to be?
- 21:01Speaker 3: Good question? And a tricky one depends on the timeframe.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Let's give it the five year window. That's a reasonable
- 21:09Speaker 1: window I think for those stable coins.
- 21:11Speaker 4: So, look, stable coins are already huge and growing fast.
- 21:15Speaker 4: We know that, right, we're talking close to what three
- 21:17Speaker 4: hundred billion in circulation today approximately. Okay, they're moving, they're
- 21:24Speaker 4: moving trillions of dollars annually. Okay, especially through emerging markets
- 21:27Speaker 4: and crypto rails.
- 21:28Speaker 3: That's that's a fact.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Now token is securities are just starting, but that's where
- 21:33Speaker 4: the deep capital polls are.
- 21:35Speaker 3: I think that equity treasuries funds.
- 21:39Speaker 4: The black token ice Treasury fund is already past one
- 21:43Speaker 4: billion on ethereum, and dtcc's project ion is processing I
- 21:47Speaker 4: think over one hundred thousand transactions a day on DLT.
- 21:51Speaker 4: So over time in the next five years, I could
- 21:54Speaker 4: see potentially that equities, bonds, and funds move on chain
- 21:58Speaker 4: much more, and that this kind of market goes into trillions.
- 22:02Speaker 2: You know.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Think of it this way.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Stable coins are the rails and token I securities are
- 22:07Speaker 4: the trains.
- 22:07Speaker 3: That's the way I would think about it.
- 22:09Speaker 1: So you then I'm in agreement with you on this
- 22:13Speaker 1: when I feel out token I securities are the bigger play,
- 22:16Speaker 1: just because the acceleration mode, and also I think, you know,
- 22:20Speaker 1: Wall Street is catching up, you know, versus the problem
- 22:24Speaker 1: that you're going to have with the banking system.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Now.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Granted, if the banks start to embrace stable coins and
- 22:29Speaker 1: we start seeing banks printing stable coins left and right,
- 22:33Speaker 1: maybe I would would consider it. But I just know
- 22:35Speaker 1: how slow the banks are moving, and I'm watching the
- 22:37Speaker 1: speed in which black Rock JP Morgan, you know, the
- 22:41Speaker 1: likes of Securities and others are moving, So I'm kind
- 22:44Speaker 1: of in agreement with you. I think Token I Security
- 22:46Speaker 1: is going to make it as the winner here, Maya.
- 22:49Speaker 1: It's been great having you on. Thank you so much
- 22:51Speaker 1: for coming in today. We appreciate it.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Thanks so much for having me on.
