- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Hello.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: You were listening to mice in Main Street Men.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I am Tristan.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: And I am concerned for your sanity.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I'm also Sean, but I'm concerned a little bit.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you just never owed that way before.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Well, that's personal, sir.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Uh okay.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Goodbye, folks.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Bye, you friends.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: This is already off the rails.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: No.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: No, sorry.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: I interrupted.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: You were so jolly.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: I I'm sorry.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: No, we're you know, we're we're we're talking Disneyland again today because uh last week we talked Zen attraction at Disneyland.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Yes, we're gonna racket it up just the energy a little bit.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk about racket it.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Racket it, Richard.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Like tennis?
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: I think I think you mean ratchet.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Yes, like uh well, if I can if I can pick a beef with people, you can racket things up.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, pick a beef is uh that still makes me giggle.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: That's so I have a beef to pick.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: I have a beef to pick.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Not actually a very good band name.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Beef to pick.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't think she well, I don't know.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Beef to pick is uh well, what are you doing tonight?
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: It sounds like I don't know.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: It sounds like you're at the state fair and you're at a a blue ribbon ceremony for for lifestyle.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: But now I got a beef, I got a beef to pick.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Sorry, sorry, Tristan.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: I can't I can't go I can't go to the I can't go to what a get a corn dog right now.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I got a beef to pick.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Who's playing over in the beer tent?
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Oh beef to pick.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Beef to pick.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Yep, that's who's there.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: What kind of music do they play?
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: Take the whole family on over to beef to pick.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And speaking of family, oh no, we got off the oh yeah.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: So beef to pick uh presents Disneyland's family attractions.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Uh so let's dig into this.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: I'll be curious to see how this goes down.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Uh shockingly, I do have some like uh I have a holdover or two from my Zen attraction list because that's not no, no, no, I did.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: I didn't mean to go somewhere else.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: That's not fair.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: They shouldn't overlap in these tiny lists, okay?
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: I only have one, actually.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Now I'm looking at it.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: All right, because I made a concerted effort not to overlap on my lists.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Uh I was going by my heart.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: There are so many attractions.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: Why would you why would you double up when you could have come up with five new family attractions?
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: It wasn't about very it was about what was on my heart, okay?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And all right.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Now I feel like a bad person.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: No, no, I just, you know, if I have a beef to pick, it's uh I didn't think about it.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Honestly, I I probably should have thought about it the way you thought about it, and then I would have had a varied list, but I still there's only one.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: It's only one.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: It's all right.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: People at home can now bet on what they think that carryover is.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Well, good and start us off here, Mr.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: McCall.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna I'm gonna start off in a very I I don't think anybody can argue with this one.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: It is a classic.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: And and as our friend Jens pointed out uh in our uh in our episode with him recently, when he asked me what attraction is the only attraction that appears in every castle park around the world.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: The answer is do you remember?
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: I don't remember actually.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: It's it's Dumbo.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, so of course that's such a good thing.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: So that is my number.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: There's gotta be a reason.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: It shows up in every castle park around the world, and that reason is it's just it's it's classic quintessential Disney.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Everybody, I hope, if you if you didn't ride it as a child, you're probably scarred over that fact, and I don't mean to bring it up as a sore spot, but I remember riding with my parents, and I still go back occasionally as an adult and go, let's let's now, granted, it's been a it's been a while, I guess, since I rode Dumbo, but it's it's just it's a memory-making ride that sticks with you from childhood.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: It nobody gets scared of Dumbo, I I don't think.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, I guess there are small children who might be afraid of elephants, but they're tiny elephants.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: It's almost a child-size elephant, so it's on your level, and it goes up in the air and down, and you control how how high it goes, and and it plays jolly circus music while a mouse cracks a whip at you.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Um that's so and because of all of that, I placed Dumbo at number five.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: That is what I should have put at my number five now that I'm thinking about it.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: But in full transparency, what I did put at number five was it's a small world.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: This is my holdover from last week.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I think it's one of the easiest attractions to recommend to like a multi-generational family because there's something for the kids, something for grandma, there's something for the parents, and everyone on board can just simply enjoy the boat ride and the colorful scenery without like because even you know, if you think at Disney World, even Frozen Ever After has a few drops and things like that.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: So this is a great opportunity for you know, grandparents and parents to share an attraction um and have an experience together.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And I think that's that's a beautiful thing.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: So that's my number.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: It is a beautiful thing, and it is what Disney does that other theme parks don't do as well.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: And sometimes it gets a bad rap because of it, but I don't think creating memories that everyone in a family can share is ever a bad thing.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: So I I agree.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: So I applaud your small world, even though some people in that boat may want to throttle whoever made them get on it.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: But isn't that what family is as well?
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: That's the sometimes you just want to throttle your family member because they made you do something you hate, and that just makes small world all the more a family attraction, right?
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Right, that's right.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: All right, so my number four, and I would bet this is on your list somewhere.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: My number four is the jungle cruise.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, it is not, so discuss it.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Jungle Cruise is not on your list.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: I call color me gobsmacked.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Honestly, I'm kind of surprised now, too.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Especially since you threw Small World on there as a repeat, but but I just I think again, oh, I just learned the last trip, and maybe it's new, but as we're talking about like multi-generational families and stuff, they have like a little box that they can put there so that you don't have the big step down into the boat.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: You've got like a little step and a little step.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Oh so so they're actually making it easier for for people with mobility issues to get in and out.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: And I there must be some way for people in wheelchairs to ride, yes?
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've seen that happen.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Like there's uh yeah, yeah, I've seen that a ramp kind of thing.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, good.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, but anyway, just uh because first of all, I go, it's uh it's accessible somehow for for people, but you know, it's just the corny jokes, but as you say, uh floating, you know, a boat, a boat cruise can be pretty zen, but I just think because of the visuals and because of the jokes and and all that, I just think it's a great family experience that everybody can enjoy together.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: And and so and thus thus jungle cruise is on my number four slot.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: That is a worthy worthy choice that I'm sad I did not think about.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: But here is what is your number four?
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: So my number four, I think this might have been on my family list for uh Walt Disney World as well, but I'm gonna go with the haunted mansion.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: Um it's I think I think this was because I think I I took exception to you before.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I am at not that I take tr I just remember as a kid I was kind of scared to do it originally.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Well, and it's always been a favorite of our family, even when Harper was little.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's spooky, but I do think it's tame enough to be a family attraction.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: I think what Haunted Mansion, which we have whacked poetically on this podcast about several times, it does such a good job of combining humor and the storytelling.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: The special effects are fantastic, and just enough things to keep it interesting without it becoming like a traditional horror attraction, if that makes sense.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, you have the stretching room, Maddie M Leota, the ballroom, the graveyard, the hitchhiking ghost.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: There's so many things happening, and I think again, not in the same way that it's a small world is multi-generational, but I do think there's something for everybody.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: And the only way I've experienced this, of course, is with the the the holiday overlay.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: And I just think that amps it up because one of Harper's favorite movies is uh Nightmare Before Christmas.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: So it combines something, a favorite of hers and a favorite of mine, and I think it does it flawlessly.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: And I think it's uh that's nice.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: It can be it can be all family, it's all in the family.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: We're a haunted mansion family.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: I know we're not alone in that, so there you go.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: And my number four is Haunted Mansion.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, all right, so my number three is very mangelloed again.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: I did that, I did that with transportation in the Zen list.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: I'm doing it here, and I'm doing it here with the gaming attractions, basically.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Toy Story Mania, Buzz Lightyear, which I don't even remember what Buzz Lightyear is called in Disneyland.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, Astro Blaster or something.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, that sounds right.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: Buzz Lightyear, Astro Blaster, because it's Space Ranger spin is Florida.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: I think you're right.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: I think Astro Blaster is there, which is just fun to say.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Astro Blaster.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a good time.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: It'd be good if Scooby-Doo said it too.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: It'd be like Rastro Blaster.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: I I just thought of that.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: So I don't know why.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: And and Web Slinger, I think, also goes into that category.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: And I just think you everybody can sort of compete on the same level.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: It's competitive, you know.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: You're trying to beat your your brother, your sister, your mom, or your dad, and get the high score, and maybe be a galactic beaver, as we say in the business.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: I did realize I'm like, oh, right.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Okay, I think the galactic thing comes from from Buzz Lightyear and the Beaver is on Toy Story Mania.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: No.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: So I did mix my metaphors again.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Like, I have a beef to pick with you.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Uh but uh and web slinger, because I just go, they're they're they're fun, they're comp they're competitive, you know.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: I think kids have an honest chance to score better than their parents, which I think would, you know, make any kid happy, or to you know, to beat their sibling.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Uh so so that is why that is why I chose to put the the game attractions uh in my number three slot.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Um that's really great, and I'm sad I didn't even think about that, honestly.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Okay, we've had no overlaps at this point.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: So my number three is Peter Pan's flight.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: Uh and I didn't have that either, and I certainly should have.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just yeah, man.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: Like there's nothing like boarding a pirate ship and taking off over London and then into Neverland.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: I think that's great.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: And the sensation of actually flying above the scenes is I think what makes that so special.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: And you know, the fiberac stars, which you talked about too.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: And you're moving through familiar Peter Pan moments, and you know, that's something the whole family knows.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: And it's indeed it's one of those things that's gentle, it's it's imaginative, and it's accessible again to the multi-generational things.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: And I think that's where a lot of my um, you know, one of my criteria for this was like, okay, is it something everybody can enjoy?
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: And and it is number three, Peter Pan's flight.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, and I I certainly remember like riding with my parents, and yeah, and and it is, you're right, it's such a magical thing that to get in that pirate ship and then have it, you know, fly up in the air and hang from the ceiling.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: And as a kid, you're just like, oh my god, this is so cool.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: And my grandparents went on it with me, and yeah, so so nice job.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Speaking of those pirates, my number two is Pirates of the Caribbean.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: I you know, clearly I don't consider the cannonballs as and flames as zen as you do.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: So I I chose to save it for my family list.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: And I because I yes, you know, it has a couple hills and stuff in it, but it's very family friendly.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: And I mean, especially now that they've done things to it that people demanded to see, like less sexist auctions and that kind of thing.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: Um but but it just I re again, I remember riding it with my parents and my grandparents, and everybody was just amazed, and it's you know, you can't go wrong with a boat ride, and so much detail, so many things to see every time, you know, you find something new.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: And uh the queue, you know, the queue is got some interesting stuff in it in Disneyland with like the different uh pirate portraits and stuff.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: So I just I think it's an excellent family attraction and is why it made my number two slot.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: So call your bookies, and I there we go.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, something had to line up.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: At number two.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: At number two, I think pirates is something, it's one of those attractions where everyone in the family can have kind of a different experience a little bit, but also like it's again, it's one of those, it's it's one of those boat rides that's just so classic in quintessential Disney.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: And it's the music and the skeletons and the humor and the incredibly elaborate skeleton.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Careful of that skeleton.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: That's a controversial skeleton.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, I liked it, but some people just close your eyes and float on by.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, float on by.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: It's uh, you know, it's an adventure, but it's it's also something that everybody can enjoy.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: And a lot of this, you know, I went we went to Disneyland with um Savannah's parents, and we had a blast with them.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: They're all, you know, they're not older, but I mean they're 60s, 70s, you know.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: And so my reference point is, you know, we went with them, and then a couple months later we went with Harper, and you know, you could see the things that we all enjoyed together, and Pirates was definitely on that list.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: So that is my number two, Pirates of the Caribbean.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Well, I am willing to bet dollars to donuts, as my father or grandfather somebody would say, um, that our number ones do not match up because I kind of went out on a strange limb here, but it's because it is something that we still enjoy doing, and I just think it would be a ball for children and and multi-generational.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: It may border on a it's not really a thrill ride, but I am I am nominating Maider's Junkyard Jamboree.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's a great choice.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: It's not on number one for family, and yeah, because it's just the music is goofy, it flings you around, it gets people laughing.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: It's I think it's just a fun family attraction.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: And I am very excited because in just a like a week or two, I'm gonna be going to Mater's Graveyard Jamboree.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: And for yeah, and for Mater's Graveyard Jamboree, they change up the playlist, and you know, you get things like Monster Mash and some fun Halloween.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: I just I think it's one of those attractions that you wouldn't normally, I think, put it super high on the list like this, but I just I think it deserves uh I think it deserves a little more love as a family attraction.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: And I'm mainly saying that because if you haven't ever done it, do it.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: Even if you're an adult, do it.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: I think it will make you smile.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: It is so fun.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: So that is why my number one is Maider's Junkyard Jamboree.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: I love that, and I have no notes, as I would say.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Um my friend Tristan says that a lot.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know, I know.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: I need to start stop saying these certain phrases.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: Like they're no, no, please don't.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: It's so fun to say, especially when you're not on the episode.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: It it makes it feel like you're there when Kimberly or I say, you know, and and I, as Tristan would say, no notes.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: I I I did enjoy that in the last couple episodes.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: Uh all right, so number one, um the uh is the many adventures adventures at many adventures of witches.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: The many adventures on this thing now of winters of witches.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: So the many adventures, if I can speak, I I speak for a living and I still can't figure this out.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Uh I still would like to see the many adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: I digress.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Yes, that is an excellent, that is an excellent family attraction.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think it's a wonderful attraction for families because it's it doesn't require anyone to be a thrill seeker, really.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: But um, and you climb up forward on the ticker may bounce, but but it's about it.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: But you're you're in a honeypot vehicle.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: Who doesn't love that?
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: And traveling through the hundred-acre wood, and also you know, Disneyland's bouncing bouncing honeypot would maybe be a good band.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, bouncing honeypot is really good.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: And if they were on the bill with uh what was it, eat the bush?
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: No, hold on.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: No, whoa, whoa, no, that is not that is not what bouncing honeypot should ever play open for.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: I I I don't know what you're thinking, but you are that's one of the dirtiest things we've ever said on this show, I'm afraid.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: What are you thinking of?
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: You what?
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Oh man, that is really funny.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Uh let's just go back to bouncing honeypot and move on like bouncing honeypot.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: No, what did you say about picking the beef?
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Picking the beef.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: Picking the beef.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: That that is way different than what you said.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: Picking the beef, eat the beef.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Who knew?
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: Who knew?
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: I thought this was I thought this was not gonna yield necessarily uh uh one of those moments.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: But I I think bouncing honeypot and and your referring and your skin.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: That may be one of those things I call back from time to time.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Oh man, anyway, you were talking about the many adventures that we need to move.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, we have really as a as a family attraction, yeah.

- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Like, I know Winnie the Pooh is so special to me, and I know it is to many people, and I love that it goes outside too, you know, in Disneyland.
