- 0:00Speaker 1: Yay, Jimmy, how are you?
- 0:02Speaker 2: How are you doing?
- 0:04Speaker 1: ID? It's Thursday evening.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Yeah, here, Thursday morning.
- 0:10Speaker 1: So yeah, you guys are in Sweden, is that right?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah? Right, So we're in the rehearsal space.
- 0:17Speaker 3: We're preparing for some upcoming recordings next week, so working
- 0:21Speaker 3: on some new stuff.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Nice. Nice, So what's now happening for hate you guys
- 0:26Speaker 1: are getting ready to do with tour? I here.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Right right, yeah, yeah, we just came home from a
- 0:32Speaker 3: Spanish tour that's the first leg of Welcome to the
- 0:35Speaker 3: Future twenty twenty six. Yeah, yeah, And simultaneously, as I said,
- 0:42Speaker 3: we're going to start recordings next week in Hamburg for
- 0:47Speaker 3: what is to become the upcoming album. So we're kind
- 0:51Speaker 3: of you know, we feel like we have toured so
- 0:54Speaker 3: much and Welcome to the Future now so we know that,
- 0:56Speaker 3: so we need to work on new stuff.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Well, touring you know, awesome, awesome. So it's been pretty
- 1:03Speaker 1: busy time for yourselves, I would imagine.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, we're fortunate, fortunate enough to be a busy band,
- 1:11Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:12Speaker 2: For sure?
- 1:13Speaker 1: For sure, how long have you guys been doing your thankful?
- 1:17Speaker 3: I mean, what is the next year? We have a
- 1:20Speaker 3: twenty year anniversary for the band.
- 1:22Speaker 2: So wow, Yeah.
- 1:24Speaker 1: A bit of a longhol, isn't it goes quick? It
- 1:26Speaker 1: sounds so cliche, but it really does just go so quickly,
- 1:29Speaker 1: especially when you're busy.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah, time place it does, it does.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So you guys are are all from Sweden, based in Sweden?
- 1:36Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:38Speaker 3: That's right, based pretty much in the suburbs of Stockholm, and.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah that's where we.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yeah, because you guys have got a pretty big, heavy sound,
- 1:51Speaker 1: heavy metal rock and roll scene over there. How do
- 1:53Speaker 1: you find that goes for yourselves? Is it easy to
- 1:56Speaker 1: sort of you know, bounce off for your other artists
- 1:58Speaker 1: doing it? And or is it competitive? How it tell
- 2:02Speaker 1: me what it's like to be a heavy metal musician
- 2:05Speaker 1: in Sweden and Europe.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Oh, I mean, I don't really think about it that much,
- 2:11Speaker 3: but of course it comes with some sort of heritage,
- 2:14Speaker 3: like ultimately the same little suburb that we come from.
- 2:17Speaker 3: It's the same that Europe you know, came from and
- 2:21Speaker 3: did all that. I guess there's a culture of you know,
- 2:26Speaker 3: good rock and metal music in Sweden and yah yah Scandinavia.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So even though I don't think about it, maybe it's
- 2:35Speaker 3: some sort of privilege.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Very much the thing. Yeah, that's great, So so touring
- 2:44Speaker 1: obviously coming to Australia later and where you guys coming soon,
- 2:50Speaker 1: isn't it? Is it in April?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Right?
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yeah? So first show is on the ninth of April
- 2:56Speaker 3: and Brisbane. Then we do eleventh in Melbourne and twelfth
- 3:00Speaker 3: in Sydney.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Yeah, just the three shows, yeah right, yeah, And have
- 3:05Speaker 1: you been down London before or is this your first
- 3:06Speaker 1: time as a.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Band or start a third time?
- 3:10Speaker 3: So yeah, the first one was the headline pretty much
- 3:14Speaker 3: the same cities. We tend to come like every other year,
- 3:18Speaker 3: maybe every three years, something like that.
- 3:20Speaker 2: The time before this one we played.
- 3:23Speaker 3: The glam Slam I think the festival was called there
- 3:26Speaker 3: was a traveling festival.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, have a few of those that they put on.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's there's new festivals. They come and they go, they
- 3:34Speaker 1: they die and they raced out.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, it's the same promotion and for these things,
- 3:42Speaker 3: and I guess that it makes sense like when when
- 3:45Speaker 3: we do make the travel and when other bands make
- 3:48Speaker 3: the travel, that one just that's as much as you
- 3:51Speaker 3: can while you're there, you know.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so you've got time to sort of hang
- 3:55Speaker 1: out whence you come, where you back? It's motoring or
- 3:58Speaker 1: what's the plan for the rest.
- 4:02Speaker 3: We're quite the busy festival summer, a lot of Spain,
- 4:06Speaker 3: a lot of Finland, and.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's uh.
- 4:15Speaker 3: We're preparing to take like the upgraded show for those
- 4:19Speaker 3: larger scale festivals that we didn't do much in h
- 4:25Speaker 3: So that's kind of what we're working on right now
- 4:27Speaker 3: touring wise, but for that, yeah, next next album is
- 4:31Speaker 3: main focus right now.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and so did you you said that you're
- 4:36Speaker 1: going to be doing some new music. Have you got
- 4:38Speaker 1: that down or that's what you're looking forward to getting
- 4:41Speaker 1: looked into.
- 4:43Speaker 3: We're still writing, but I think that we have written
- 4:47Speaker 3: what it's well over twenty songs that will then become
- 4:52Speaker 3: ten or so to.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Actually be featured on the album.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Yeah, So we're trying a little bit new ways of
- 5:01Speaker 3: writing this time. We're spending more time together writing together
- 5:04Speaker 3: in the room, and previous we have like been more
- 5:10Speaker 3: separated while recording like a drum session and I do
- 5:14Speaker 3: bass session and guitar sessions. Now we're going to try
- 5:16Speaker 3: and do a little bit more of a live take
- 5:19Speaker 3: on it, like we did on Addresstination and tearing down
- 5:21Speaker 3: the walls.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So yeah, awesome, awesome. So so how would you describe
- 5:26Speaker 1: your the band hate you know, a few words, give us,
- 5:29Speaker 1: give us your rundown of value to see yourselves. So anyway,
- 5:32Speaker 1: any of those leasting watching, if they don't know, they can.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Well heat.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I would say it's kind of classic Scandinavian melodic heavy metal,
- 5:44Speaker 3: like in hard Run, quite spot on. I don't think
- 5:49Speaker 3: that we are, you know. I mean we're trying to
- 5:54Speaker 3: take that classic genre further the way we are, and
- 5:58Speaker 3: I mean in Sweden and Europe, we are one of
- 6:01Speaker 3: the bands to know if you like that sort of music.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, in the note, yeah for sure. And you
- 6:08Speaker 1: obviously got a good fan based following and down under
- 6:11Speaker 1: as well. So if you change in your and your
- 6:15Speaker 1: fan base over the years, I've been doing for a
- 6:17Speaker 1: twenty years, so they still the same, but they you've
- 6:19Speaker 1: got some new young fans that have joined in and
- 6:22Speaker 1: or how's it looking or you're not too sure to get.
- 6:24Speaker 3: You Yeah, I mean I think that it seems like
- 6:29Speaker 3: the crowd is saying the same age, which would mean
- 6:32Speaker 3: that some younger are.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Coming in.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Ecstatic, But it's actually fun.
- 6:39Speaker 3: It's quite the mixed crowd like it's all and it's
- 6:43Speaker 3: very I would say our audience is very interested in music,
- 6:48Speaker 3: you know they are. It's it's a passion for music
- 6:51Speaker 3: and for this.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Genre.
- 6:53Speaker 3: So and I don't think that really it's not really
- 6:57Speaker 3: about the age or the people hang out and have
- 7:01Speaker 3: a good time over common interest of this kind of
- 7:04Speaker 3: music and heat.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And how many of you guys are in
- 7:08Speaker 1: the band? Five five so that's the decent hall. You've
- 7:13Speaker 1: got the full band so to speak. Yeah, yeah, any
- 7:18Speaker 1: changes at the time, he's still the same five members throughout.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yeah, so when we started we were actually six people.
- 7:24Speaker 3: So then we lost one guitar player, but we kind
- 7:29Speaker 3: of didn't look back. We continued with one. We had
- 7:32Speaker 3: one change when our first lead singer left back in
- 7:39Speaker 3: twenty ten. Then Eric Gromwell, who was yeah he later
- 7:46Speaker 3: sank for skid Row and Michael Schenker he's doing now.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 3: He was the vocal lead vocal for ten years and
- 7:57Speaker 3: then he quit and now the original ice back, so
- 8:00Speaker 3: it's all original members full circle.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That's pretty good. Yeah, yeah, so you die hard fans
- 8:06Speaker 1: will be loving that. Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that was that was great. Like I'd say that
- 8:12Speaker 3: we are a bandit. I mean, in the history of
- 8:18Speaker 3: the band, there's only one that wasn't there from the beginning.
- 8:20Speaker 3: So it's as original and authentic as it can be,
- 8:25Speaker 3: you know.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesome, that's great, that's great. So yeah, so
- 8:28Speaker 1: you'll be heading down under our way very soon. It's
- 8:31Speaker 1: only a couple of weeks. I can't believe it's March.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Is are over coming to April. It's just get the
- 8:37Speaker 1: busier I becoming that the quicker it seems to go.
- 8:39Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it really quick. The flight will not be quick.
- 8:46Speaker 2: That's twenty five hours in the air. But yeah, that's
- 8:49Speaker 2: a long time.
- 8:50Speaker 1: That's a long time. I mean, what do you got
- 8:51Speaker 1: planning to do? Pas a sleep or like drink to
- 8:55Speaker 1: pass the time in.
- 8:55Speaker 3: The way I was thinking about, like in that sort
- 8:59Speaker 3: of time one has, you know, the time to get
- 9:02Speaker 3: absolutely smashed, get hung over and all still sleep and
- 9:06Speaker 3: get over it. So it's actually quite convenient.
- 9:09Speaker 1: You pace yourself out, and I like that.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Yeah, but actually I've kind of grown to enjoy being,
- 9:17Speaker 3: you know, unreachable for an entire day.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I'm kind of looking forward to that as well.
- 9:21Speaker 1: So that's that's a fresh take on both angles and
- 9:25Speaker 1: being unreachable for twenty four hourss. Some that'll be just
- 9:27Speaker 1: like necked up. Some days I swear it'd be great.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yeah or and yeah or just you know, space it out.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You can start a new viral tread like in twenty
- 9:34Speaker 1: five hours we get ship faced. We can be hung
- 9:37Speaker 1: over and we can sleep it off and we'll be
- 9:39Speaker 1: patri them me jump off the other end.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Just do it with your best twends that you have
- 9:43Speaker 3: played music with for twenty years, you know the dream.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah, and like I said, the best friends after all
- 9:49Speaker 1: this time, and some obviously you know sure be doing
- 9:52Speaker 1: it if you if you didn't go. Sometimes it can
- 9:54Speaker 1: be the downfall of some great bands and whatnot is
- 9:57Speaker 1: when there's creative differences and it doesn't quite it's you're
- 10:02Speaker 1: like a bad marriage. Tom's five right, never ends well.
- 10:09Speaker 1: But no, that's great. That's great. He's still doing it
- 10:11Speaker 1: and best of mates and long you're having fun. You know,
- 10:13Speaker 1: that's what it's all about.
- 10:14Speaker 2: As well.
- 10:14Speaker 1: If you get to travel the world and tour and
- 10:17Speaker 1: make money out of it. You know, no one's are
- 10:18Speaker 1: making big dollars, but yeah, but just to do all that,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I mean, that's the key to life.
- 10:24Speaker 3: That's the biggest multiletist that is, we're doing something we'll
- 10:27Speaker 3: all with our best friends.
- 10:28Speaker 2: So absolutely like it's been from the beginning.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great. That's what's what it's all about. And
- 10:33Speaker 1: I love hearing that. And yeah, I'm sure you fans
- 10:36Speaker 1: love it. Would I imagine it would have come across them,
- 10:38Speaker 1: you know when you perform in your music as well,
- 10:41Speaker 1: you know, h yeah, it's something that fans can lock
- 10:44Speaker 1: into for sure.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, there has to be some heart in there, you.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Know, absolutely, otherwise it's just the performer where, you know,
- 10:53Speaker 1: not a heartfelt performance. It's a very easy to sport,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I think these days. You know, when it's you're not
- 10:58Speaker 1: giving it, you look bored, you look like you don't
- 11:01Speaker 1: want to be there. Neither is the audience. I went
- 11:03Speaker 1: to a gig recently and it was almost like watching
- 11:06Speaker 1: a rehearsal. It was very strange. Yeah, but it was good,
- 11:11Speaker 1: but yeah, it was just it's just a little bit different.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, it was the end of the
- 11:15Speaker 1: tour and whatnot, so maybe that might have been just
- 11:18Speaker 1: a little bit spent and exhausted.
- 11:21Speaker 3: But yeah, still not the same either. Like the Long
- 11:26Speaker 3: band can be you know, awsome one day and then
- 11:30Speaker 3: can be tired of different day.
- 11:32Speaker 2: There can be colds going around, you know, so I
- 11:34Speaker 2: never know what.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I tried to have a little bit of understanding for
- 11:37Speaker 3: that when I'm watching a band.
- 11:39Speaker 2: You know, that's so true.
- 11:40Speaker 1: So especially when it's the last of the tour that
- 11:42Speaker 1: they've just done as well, you know, it's all. Don't
- 11:44Speaker 1: get me wrong, it was great, but yeah, it was
- 11:46Speaker 1: just yeah, just interesting. It's just like the fluff, wasn't
- 11:50Speaker 1: there the extra bits?
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah? Right, what was that?
- 11:54Speaker 1: Oh it was there was a couple of them. It
- 11:55Speaker 1: was a few bands. So I won't say if you're
- 11:59Speaker 1: a professional.
- 12:00Speaker 3: One oh no, no, no, no, no names will be mentioned.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I'll keep that the secret. But no, it's right, like
- 12:09Speaker 1: you say, And it's like anything. Anyone could be having
- 12:12Speaker 1: a bad day and I always kind of tend to
- 12:14Speaker 1: think like that too. Someone might be losing that ship
- 12:16Speaker 1: as well, having a meltdown. It's like, what's really going
- 12:19Speaker 1: on here?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Right, you know?
- 12:20Speaker 1: It's not always so yeah, curross to having there the
- 12:24Speaker 1: good mind indeed. So yeah, thank you for having a
- 12:28Speaker 1: chat with us here at Happy I know you guys
- 12:31Speaker 1: have got some back interviews you're pretty busy there at
- 12:33Speaker 1: the moment and Chrismas. Yeah, last minute, quick popy wing,
- 12:38Speaker 1: so I said, absolutely, So I just figured it out,
- 12:40Speaker 1: and yeah, it's good to have a chat with you
- 12:42Speaker 1: and see you guys down on Yeah excellent. May even
- 12:47Speaker 1: catch it when the Brisbane show would be but I
- 12:49Speaker 1: just don't know what my roster looks like. It's I'm
- 12:52Speaker 1: double booked at the moment. It's very busy, which is
- 12:54Speaker 1: good for the music for sure.
- 12:56Speaker 2: But you're more than welcome.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Oh lovely, awesome, Thank you so much for that. Well,
- 13:00Speaker 1: look you take care, Jimmy, and yeah, enjoy the twenty
- 13:04Speaker 1: five hours and I hope you stay Peach at the
- 13:07Speaker 1: other end.
