- 0:31Speaker 4: And now handle on the news.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen.

- 0:52Speaker 5: Good Monday morning to you. May the faugh be with you. Also,
- 0:58Speaker 5: good news. Sorry I was he's a Catholic. Neil Savader
- 1:01Speaker 5: in the morning crew here Handles having a little technical difficulty,
- 1:05Speaker 5: but I'm sure they will figure it out and get
- 1:08Speaker 5: them up as soon as possible. You know, as you
- 1:10Speaker 5: get older, it's hard to get him up, so he's
- 1:13Speaker 5: going to work on that.
- 1:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we had a.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Little bit of a good Sorry about that, Neil, I interrupted.
- 1:19Speaker 3: You go go right now. It's your show, sir. Just
- 1:22Speaker 3: you started with your show. I know we had a
- 1:24Speaker 3: little bit of a computer thing going on.
- 1:27Speaker 5: We're just saying good morning, good morning to Anne who
- 1:30Speaker 5: is never lasted, never leased.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Hi, Well Amy is there, Will is there, Neil is there,
- 1:41Speaker 3: and then Jesse.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Have we worked before, Jesse?
- 1:45Speaker 4: I don't think so. I don't think when you had
- 1:48Speaker 4: the people over at your house for the food event
- 1:51Speaker 4: with Neil on the board for that, but it was
- 1:54Speaker 4: pretty remote than No.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I don't think we don't remember. Have we ever met?
- 1:58Speaker 4: No, I don't think so.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm pretty fresh. Sure I started in November.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Okay, well, hello, and I will completely forget that we
- 2:09Speaker 3: have met. So next time I'll ask you again and
- 2:11Speaker 3: you'll say yes, and I'll say no. All right.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Today I was going to tell him, you get to
- 2:16Speaker 5: enjoy meeting handle for the next five years, again and
- 2:20Speaker 5: again and again.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Now of course.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Oh and naturally Will is wearing his Star Wars T shirt. Yeh,
- 2:28Speaker 3: Empire strikes bat and Neil you're doing with what a
- 2:32Speaker 3: Starfighter and.
- 2:34Speaker 5: It is then Falcon but it's actually in Aztec calendar
- 2:38Speaker 5: as well. Oh okay, next heritage for a Star War
- 2:42Speaker 5: He fancied.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yeah, of course, I'm going to do a story which
- 2:46Speaker 3: I have to do, and that is at seven point
- 2:49Speaker 3: fifty actually, the history of it may the fourth be
- 2:53Speaker 3: with you.
- 2:54Speaker 2: There's an interesting history people don't know about it.
- 2:56Speaker 3: First of all, it was started by a guy who
- 2:59Speaker 3: lisps know that, don't you?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Oh boy, then.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Why are you thrusting your fist?
- 3:08Speaker 3: Dan?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Why are you?
- 3:09Speaker 6: That's funny?
- 3:12Speaker 5: That's that's the one funny thing this year on the calendar.
- 3:16Speaker 2: All right.
- 3:17Speaker 3: But there's a whole history of how it all started,
- 3:19Speaker 3: and it's really interesting stuff. At least I thought so.
- 3:22Speaker 3: And I'm not a big Star Wars fan either, I
- 3:25Speaker 3: am not. I think I've seen well, the original Star
- 3:29Speaker 3: Wars I saw and I thought it was pretty neat,
- 3:31Speaker 3: and then after that, I don't know. I thought Star
- 3:35Speaker 3: Wars fourteen was okay.
- 3:38Speaker 5: The Empire Strikes Back is a magnificent film, and New.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Hope, Yeah, my favorite.
- 3:45Speaker 3: And this does not happen often enough because very few
- 3:49Speaker 3: people don't understand the value and the depth of jar
- 3:52Speaker 3: Jar Binks and it is when's the last time that
- 3:56Speaker 3: name came up?
- 3:57Speaker 2: Huh uh?
- 4:00Speaker 5: Two seconds ago?
- 4:01Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:01Speaker 2: Pretty much? Okay, guys, it is time to start.
- 4:07Speaker 3: May fourth tomorrow, by the way, is May fifth, and
- 4:12Speaker 3: that's May the fifth be with your fifths are bad.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Sometimes they call it the revenge of the Fifth.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go, and that's and the Revenge of
- 4:23Speaker 3: the Fifth is a lot of people getting very drunk.
- 4:27Speaker 5: And it goes throughout the entire month, by the way,
- 4:30Speaker 5: because you have George Lucas's birthday and then you have
- 4:33Speaker 5: the anniversary of the release of a bunch of the films.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And Okay, let's do it, guys. We do have stuff
- 4:40Speaker 3: to cover internationally and locally. So let's start with handle
- 4:45Speaker 3: on the news with Amy Neil and me lead story.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I'm gonna throw this to Amy because there's news breaking
- 4:57Speaker 3: literally as we speak. So, Amy, what is going on
- 5:00Speaker 3: with the Straight of horne Mooz?
- 5:02Speaker 6: Well, of course, the Straight of Hormuz is technically still closed.
- 5:06Speaker 6: Iran is saying it's going to fire on anybody who
- 5:09Speaker 6: tries to get through. But what's breaking this morning is
- 5:11Speaker 6: that two US flagged ships have safely transited the Strait
- 5:16Speaker 6: of Hormuz. Iran state media also said today that it
- 5:20Speaker 6: hit a US warship, and the US is saying, no,
- 5:25Speaker 6: that didn't happen. We don't know if it happened or not.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Who tells the truth in these situations.
- 5:32Speaker 3: I don't believe either side is telling the truth at all.
- 5:39Speaker 3: It's uh, do we have much news from Donald Trump today?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Because usually we do. I have news.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I don't know if before we get to
- 5:48Speaker 3: the rest of the news. Have you heard about the
- 5:52Speaker 3: Hall of American Heroes that's coming up that he's proposing
- 5:57Speaker 3: in the park in one of the areas, is along
- 6:00Speaker 3: them all two hundred and fifty great Americans?
- 6:04Speaker 5: Oh no? And how many of them are him?
- 6:07Speaker 2: All of them?
- 6:08Speaker 3: And it's just too It's like the guy who the
- 6:11Speaker 3: head of the commission went to see the Terracotta Warriors.
- 6:14Speaker 2: He thought that was a really good idea.
- 6:16Speaker 6: So I was gonna ask you, is it gonna be
- 6:18Speaker 6: like the Terracotta Warriors?
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go. It's it's insane. It's complete reow.
- 6:25Speaker 2: That should be fun. And so I don't know gets
- 6:27Speaker 2: to choose.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But some names being bandied about, Kobe Bryant, George Washington,
- 6:33Speaker 3: I mean names through every.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Part of American American history, and I'm all for that.
- 6:40Speaker 5: I think it's an interesting thing to celebrate certain people
- 6:43Speaker 5: throughout history. But he's not the person I would put
- 6:47Speaker 5: in charge of that because it's like the first this
- 6:51Speaker 5: is me as a baby when the wise men came
- 6:55Speaker 5: and visited me following the Star it just seems like,
- 7:01Speaker 5: I don't know, it's like it's going to be chucky cheese, animatronics,
- 7:05Speaker 5: It's going to be something.
- 7:06Speaker 2: It's going to be wonderful, all right, Moving on, here.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Comes the last of it. So, the last California bound
- 7:15Speaker 6: oil tanker to pass through the Strait of hor Moves
- 7:18Speaker 6: since the war started has landed at the port of
- 7:22Speaker 6: Long Beach and is offloading its two million barrels of
- 7:26Speaker 6: crude oil that'll be transformed into gas, jet fuel, and diesel.
- 7:30Speaker 6: The ship is the New Corolla. It loaded up in
- 7:32Speaker 6: a rock on February twenty fourth, just days before the
- 7:36Speaker 6: US and Israel launched attacks on Iran. Took a while.
- 7:40Speaker 6: It takes two months to get here.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah, because they can't go through the Panama
- 7:44Speaker 3: Canal at all. So if it's going to Long Beach,
- 7:47Speaker 3: has to go around the bottom.
- 7:49Speaker 6: Why can't go through the canal because it's.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Way too big. Those massive tankers are way too big
- 7:53Speaker 3: to go through the canal. Even I think the new
- 7:56Speaker 3: canal there's two canals now, I think even the new
- 7:58Speaker 3: canal that was built, which is bigger than the UH
- 8:03Speaker 3: than the first one. Oh, here's a little factoid. Okay,
- 8:07Speaker 3: And I think why we shared this before. What is
- 8:09Speaker 3: the width of the canal, the first canal that was built,
- 8:13Speaker 3: the original Panama Canal? What size ship does it accommodate?
- 8:19Speaker 3: At what point can it no longer accommodate a ship?
- 8:22Speaker 3: Doo doo doo do one hundred.
- 8:24Speaker 2: And ten feet? Thought i'd share that with you. How's
- 8:28Speaker 2: that for a useless fact?
- 8:29Speaker 5: Huh, that's great And you're never going to remember Jesse
- 8:32Speaker 5: now because you just knocked him out of your head
- 8:35Speaker 5: for that fact.
- 8:35Speaker 6: There's only so much room in there.
- 8:37Speaker 2: That's absolutely correct. Okay.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Uh, let's continue on with a handle on the news,
- 8:42Speaker 3: Amy Neil and me.
- 8:44Speaker 5: As you heard Amy talk about during wake up call,
- 8:47Speaker 5: federal appeals court ruling restricting access to the abortion pill.
- 8:52Speaker 5: If a press stone is that what it is? I've
- 8:55Speaker 5: never used it personally, raising concerns about how patients, including
- 8:59Speaker 5: those here in California of course, will obtain the medication
- 9:04Speaker 5: moving forward. If you remember there, you used to have
- 9:08Speaker 5: to get it in person prior to the pandemic, and
- 9:12Speaker 5: then they make it accessible via the mail. And in
- 9:20Speaker 5: twenty twenty two, when Roe v. Wade was overturned. Now
- 9:24Speaker 5: we've got this kind of situation where it has been
- 9:29Speaker 5: one of the ways that people could have safe access
- 9:33Speaker 5: to this pill.
- 9:35Speaker 2: A couple of things.
- 9:35Speaker 3: First of all, about sixty percent of abortions in this
- 9:38Speaker 3: country are due to this pill, not physical abortions, which
- 9:42Speaker 3: a lot of people don't know about.
- 9:44Speaker 2: And what this premise is.
- 9:48Speaker 3: The states where abortion is illegal, their premise is that
- 9:53Speaker 3: the citizens of that state of the state cannot receive
- 9:58Speaker 3: methapristone without an inn person, doctors visit, and they can't
- 10:02Speaker 3: be sent through the males.
- 10:03Speaker 2: And this is going up the Supreme Court.
- 10:05Speaker 3: If I had to guess, Supreme Court's gonna agree with
- 10:07Speaker 3: the states saying a state has the right to determine
- 10:11Speaker 3: the health issues of its own citizens and therefore.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Nothing in by mail.
- 10:18Speaker 3: And that effectively makes But you know, we're real who
- 10:20Speaker 3: really screws as poor women in rural districts. That's who
- 10:24Speaker 3: get nailed by all of this, even the ban on
- 10:27Speaker 3: abortion Roe v. Wade, Because if you have money, you're
- 10:30Speaker 3: just jumping out on an airplane you come to California
- 10:32Speaker 3: and you have an abortion or New York where abortion
- 10:35Speaker 3: will always be legal. But if you're poor and you
- 10:37Speaker 3: don't have access and you get pregnant. Man, you're screwed.
- 10:42Speaker 3: You've been after being screwed. You know you're doubly screwed.
- 10:45Speaker 3: And yeah, no, it's tough.
- 10:48Speaker 6: Okay, a lot of actors probably breathing a sigh of relief.
- 10:53Speaker 6: Producers and studios too. SAG after and the Alliance of
- 10:56Speaker 6: Motion Picture and Television Producers as a new tentative contract agreement.
- 11:01Speaker 6: It's a four year deal, which is similar to what
- 11:04Speaker 6: the Writers Guild reached with the studios last month. It
- 11:09Speaker 6: will reportedly improve AI productions and boost the guild's pension fund,
- 11:15Speaker 6: which I would like to see you won't.
- 11:18Speaker 3: And here is why, because when KFI went into negotiations
- 11:24Speaker 3: for the new contract, the response for management was to
- 11:28Speaker 3: every single request, no, we don't care, we don't.
- 11:32Speaker 6: Care, totally separate from iHeart.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no it is, no, it is. But we're
- 11:36Speaker 2: members of SAG.
- 11:37Speaker 3: And what happens is every organization, for example, every radio
- 11:40Speaker 3: station has a different contract with SAG, and so we
- 11:47Speaker 3: are members. We are the part of the MEDERIC. What
- 11:51Speaker 3: is it after as an American federation Television, television and radio. Yeah, artists, Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 3: it is artist that we are.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Go figure.
- 12:05Speaker 5: You've been a member of SAG since you got your
- 12:07Speaker 5: weight loss surgery.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Hello, that's very funny. Okay, that's not bad. Okay.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City and former
- 12:18Speaker 5: mayor of the United States, if you remember, America's mayor,
- 12:24Speaker 5: sadly is in Florida hospital with some with what they're
- 12:27Speaker 5: calling critical condition. His spokesman came out and they didn't
- 12:32Speaker 5: specify which hospital. They haven't really got any details, gotten
- 12:37Speaker 5: to any details. Remains in critical but stable condition. And
- 12:43Speaker 5: he's eighty one years old. It's not clear when he
- 12:45Speaker 5: went to the hospital. But you know, being a very
- 12:49Speaker 5: close friend of President Trump, Trump was very quick to
- 12:55Speaker 5: come out and start talking about the twenty twenty election.
- 12:58Speaker 3: And Giuliani's a weird guy. I mean, he came in
- 13:01Speaker 3: when he was a US attorney Southern District of New York.
- 13:05Speaker 3: He almost single handedly wiped out the mafia there. I mean,
- 13:09Speaker 3: he brought down organized crime extraordinary record as one of
- 13:13Speaker 3: the premier US attorneys. And then he was elected mayor
- 13:17Speaker 3: and was consider doing a great job. And then during
- 13:21Speaker 3: a lot of the areas, Oh yeah, no, he did
- 13:23Speaker 3: a great job and then he drank the kool aid,
- 13:27Speaker 3: and I just it's just insane.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Catch my sarcasm. That Trump came out about his good
- 13:34Speaker 5: friend being in the hospital to talk about the twenty
- 13:36Speaker 5: twenty election. Did you notice that's what he quickly turned?
- 13:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, of course he did. Yeah, of course, everything's
- 13:43Speaker 2: about the toe.
- 13:43Speaker 5: That's so bizarre.
- 13:45Speaker 3: It is, well, it's not bizarre, and that's just the
- 13:47Speaker 3: way it works, and it's unfortunate, but that's welcome to history.
- 13:54Speaker 6: Thank goodness for a buckshot proof vest. It wasn't a bullet,
- 13:59Speaker 6: but was a buckshot Apparently that a Secret Service agent
- 14:03Speaker 6: was hit at at the White House correspondence dinner when
- 14:08Speaker 6: a man from Torrance allegedly ran through the security checkpoint
- 14:14Speaker 6: and fired on one of the Secret Service agents as
- 14:16Speaker 6: he was trying to get to the president. But Janine
- 14:19Speaker 6: Piro came out on Saturday and said that they did
- 14:22Speaker 6: find the buckshot pellet in the vest and said that
- 14:27Speaker 6: she went on to say that the guy had every
- 14:29Speaker 6: intention of killing the president and anyone who got in
- 14:32Speaker 6: his way.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 14:36Speaker 5: You remember, Bill, when we were talking about this story
- 14:39Speaker 5: about how this guy planned everything. One of the things
- 14:44Speaker 5: that was said in his manifesto or whatever apparently was
- 14:48Speaker 5: that he was using buckshot, which is, you know, great
- 14:52Speaker 5: for home protection because it doesn't go through walls, and
- 14:57Speaker 5: the whole purpose is you want to kill your target,
- 15:00Speaker 5: get not your neighbor, and so by using Buckshot, his
- 15:04Speaker 5: thought process apparently was to kill the target and not
- 15:09Speaker 5: go through to get someone else who he thought was innocent.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of weird. It's a lot of weird.
- 15:17Speaker 6: Did they just find the bullet a week later?
- 15:21Speaker 5: No, the buckshot is Buckshot is not a bullet.
- 15:24Speaker 2: It's I'm just saying they're just now coming out with that. Yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 2: maybe they know, we saw that.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I'm sure that they had it before, just that they're
- 15:31Speaker 3: really weird about announcing it when they do.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And a couple of things about that.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Uh, you know, there's a lot of controversy because this guy,
- 15:39Speaker 3: his lawyer is saying that he has been in a
- 15:43Speaker 3: padded cell in a straight jacket ever since he was arrested,
- 15:49Speaker 3: and even the judge said that's a problem. And Janine
- 15:52Speaker 3: pirot Man, what a piece of work she is. Uh,
- 15:55Speaker 3: she is the US attorney for the District of Columbia,
- 15:59Speaker 3: and every morning she puts hunt or her leash and
- 16:03Speaker 3: walks to goes over to the White House and goes here,
- 16:06Speaker 3: where would you like me to go today? I mean,
- 16:09Speaker 3: it's really really disgusting, at least in my opinion it is.
- 16:12Speaker 2: And more, is she angling for Attorney General? I mean
- 16:17Speaker 2: big time?
- 16:18Speaker 3: All right, No, she's you know, she's not blonde, and
- 16:24Speaker 3: I think and I think she's a little old for
- 16:26Speaker 3: that position. I don't think because she's.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Already cosmetic surgery. Yeah, she's already passed her thirty So
- 16:33Speaker 2: that's a problem.
- 16:34Speaker 5: What well, just has he ever said anything about her
- 16:38Speaker 5: lips or no?
- 16:41Speaker 3: No? Okay, okay, back we go more handle on the news, Amy,
- 16:46Speaker 3: Neil and me.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Three people have died on a cruise ship in the Atlantic,
- 16:52Speaker 5: so says the WHO. Just yesterday one confirmed case of
- 16:57Speaker 5: the hunt of virus, which is, you know, one of
- 17:00Speaker 5: those illnesses that is usually transmitted to humans from rodents,
- 17:06Speaker 5: but an outbreak occurred on the MVY Hondius. Never heard
- 17:12Speaker 5: of it.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a tiny little ship. I look at picture.
- 17:15Speaker 3: It's a cruise ship. But there it's I can't be
- 17:17Speaker 3: more than one hundred people, hundred fifty people on it.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Small Argentina to Cape there they.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Ushwaya is the southernmost major city fifty thousand people in
- 17:30Speaker 3: South America. And from there you go to the Antarctica.
- 17:33Speaker 3: That's usually the starting off point. So this was going
- 17:36Speaker 3: from and it's in Argentina, so it was from Ushuaia
- 17:40Speaker 3: actually across the oceans where it was going to. And
- 17:43Speaker 3: the hunt of virus is really strange, as you pointed out.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Usually it's rodent droppings.
- 17:49Speaker 5: Right, and they dry out you inhale them or something.
- 17:52Speaker 3: And that's why people were getting these great runners who
- 17:55Speaker 3: were in great shape. We're getting them going to be
- 17:57Speaker 3: out on trails and running. I would never have haunted virus, clearly.
- 18:01Speaker 3: And here another interesting fact, and that is Gene Hackman.
- 18:09Speaker 3: His wife died of virus haunted virus, and he ended
- 18:12Speaker 3: up dying because he was so deep into dementia he
- 18:16Speaker 3: couldn't feed himself and he had no ability to take
- 18:18Speaker 3: care of himself. So he ended up dying too because
- 18:21Speaker 3: of neglect. But she had died, so it was neglect
- 18:25Speaker 3: on her part. And it was a crazy story flu
- 18:27Speaker 3: or something. Yeah, that's haunted virus. I mean, it's this
- 18:30Speaker 3: crazy stuff.
- 18:34Speaker 6: Probably coming up short again, President Trump said on Saturday,
- 18:39Speaker 6: evening on social media that he was reviewing Iran's latest
- 18:42Speaker 6: proposal but couldn't imagine it would be acceptable. Those comments
- 18:47Speaker 6: came a day after he said he was not satisfied
- 18:50Speaker 6: with the latest offer from Iran, and then he went
- 18:54Speaker 6: on to say that he had only been briefed on it,
- 18:56Speaker 6: but he was going to take a closer look at
- 18:59Speaker 6: the act. We'll proposal over the weekend.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yep, we'll see what's happening. We're getting two different stories.
- 19:06Speaker 3: There are two different wars. There's Iranian version of the
- 19:09Speaker 3: war and there's the United States version of the war.
- 19:13Speaker 3: And I don't know which one to believe, probably neither one.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I'm a big fan of not believing anything anymore.
- 19:22Speaker 5: That's easy, okay. So there's this exercise, five thousand personnel
- 19:28Speaker 5: from over forty countries that are scheduled to participate and
- 19:32Speaker 5: what they refer to as the African Lion Exercises in Morocco,
- 19:36Speaker 5: and it goes from April twenty seventh to May eighth. Traditionally,
- 19:40Speaker 5: and strangely, the US Army is searching now for two
- 19:46Speaker 5: service members who went missing while taking part of this
- 19:50Speaker 5: big joint military exercise in Morocco. So at this point,
- 19:56Speaker 5: as of yesterday, they're just reported and they're investigating to
- 20:01Speaker 5: try and figure out where they went missing or where
- 20:03Speaker 5: they are or what happened.
- 20:06Speaker 3: From what I understand, the authorities are not considering this
- 20:10Speaker 3: foul play or any kind of military response. They think
- 20:14Speaker 3: it was an accident.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Do I have that right? Amy?
- 20:16Speaker 3: That that's the latest we have. I believe, So, Okay,
- 20:20Speaker 3: she just threw her arms up in the air as
- 20:22Speaker 3: in I have absolutely no idea, but came back with
- 20:25Speaker 3: I believe, so, well, that's where it's left.
- 20:28Speaker 2: That's where.
- 20:29Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what the official line is at this point.
- 20:33Speaker 6: The show must go on. The Redondo Beach Pier had
- 20:38Speaker 6: to be evacuated yesterday morning. Police got a call about
- 20:43Speaker 6: a hostage situation that may have involved in explosives near
- 20:47Speaker 6: the pier. That was about nine thirty, so they called
- 20:49Speaker 6: everybody out out of an abundance of caution to search
- 20:53Speaker 6: the area. Took a few hours, but they declared and
- 20:56Speaker 6: all clear at one thirty four and determined that it
- 20:59Speaker 6: was swa that it was just a hoax.
- 21:02Speaker 5: Well, you had a big concert going on.
- 21:04Speaker 6: The Beach Life Festival, so that.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Was broadcasting on Saturday, right exactly where they evacuated.
- 21:10Speaker 6: That's what I immediately thought of, and then so they had
- 21:13Speaker 6: to delay that. But then they were able to open
- 21:15Speaker 6: it and the show went on as scheduled.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Now, were you evacuated, Neil, No.
- 21:20Speaker 6: Because it was this happened yesterday and Neil was their Saturday.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 21:25Speaker 5: You're right there the land. You have the California Surf Club,
- 21:29Speaker 5: which is about a year old right there, gorgeous part
- 21:34Speaker 5: of the coast, and it was really amazing. The whole
- 21:37Speaker 5: event was amazing. But that's the thing that came to
- 21:40Speaker 5: my mind is, oh, my gosh, did they have to
- 21:41Speaker 5: evacuate that whole event. You're talking about thirteen thousand people,
- 21:46Speaker 5: you know, yeah, mt event alone. Now I can see that.
- 21:49Speaker 5: I'm sure they have contingency plans.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I guess. You know, everybody leave Neil, you can stay.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm like all this food.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, let's return ooh more handle on the news.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Although this story I should have gone to Amy, but.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to yield to it.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to yield to Amy because this is
- 22:08Speaker 2: an Amy story.
- 22:10Speaker 6: The big Bear Eaglitz now have names. Of course, they
- 22:13Speaker 6: were born over a month ago. In a nest high
- 22:19Speaker 6: above Big Bear Lake, and there's a naming contest for
- 22:22Speaker 6: them because they are well, they're in their weird teenage
- 22:26Speaker 6: years right now. They look a little scrappy. But they
- 22:30Speaker 6: do a contest where you can nominate or make a
- 22:32Speaker 6: submission for the names for a five dollars donation, and
- 22:35Speaker 6: then they take the three finalists and or the I
- 22:39Speaker 6: can't remember how many finalists, but take the finalists. The
- 22:41Speaker 6: third graders make the ultimate decision, and they landed on
- 22:45Speaker 6: Sandy and Luna. Of course, Sandy for Sandy Steers, who
- 22:49Speaker 6: was the founder of Friends in Big Bear Valley and
- 22:52Speaker 6: really instrumental the person behind getting that camera up into
- 22:55Speaker 6: the nest so thousands of us could watch our baby Eglitz.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Right, and that sixty three foul and submissions. The number
- 23:03Speaker 3: two that came in were entree and dessert. Now there.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I don't know if you've ever eaten bald eagle. I mean,
- 23:10Speaker 3: there is just something about bald Yeah, it's still a
- 23:14Speaker 3: little bit of a very interesting taste.
- 23:17Speaker 2: I really like it a lot.
- 23:19Speaker 5: I voted for.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Amy and King, and that have been funny.
- 23:24Speaker 2: If those had one, it would have been very funny.
- 23:26Speaker 6: It would have been funny. Sixty three thousand submissions. You know,
- 23:28Speaker 6: that's a lot of money because I think they were
- 23:30Speaker 6: asking for a five dollars donation to submit as well. Yeah, oh,
- 23:37Speaker 6: zoos in the crosshairs. At least four zoos were swatted
- 23:44Speaker 6: this weekend. You know, we talked about the swatting where
- 23:45Speaker 6: they call in like bomb threats or hostage situations and
- 23:49Speaker 6: then it triggers a mass police response. Well, the Louisville
- 23:53Speaker 6: Zoo had to be evacuated because it got a bomb threat.
- 23:56Speaker 6: The Toledo Zoo in Ohio also got a bomb threat,
- 24:00Speaker 6: and then on Saturday, bomb threats were called in to
- 24:03Speaker 6: Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and also
- 24:07Speaker 6: the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio. They were all
- 24:10Speaker 6: not real threats. But when does it.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Hit critical mass where so many of these swat calls
- 24:17Speaker 3: are coming in that the police simply can't cope at all.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Because when these swat calls come in, they send out
- 24:24Speaker 3: the swat teams, they send out, there is a police response,
- 24:29Speaker 3: there is an evacuation. At what point did they just
- 24:31Speaker 3: give up? Because when you have twenty of them being
- 24:33Speaker 3: called in and you are happening.
- 24:35Speaker 5: You have to put it under the category of terrorism.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Maybe yeah, yeah, and then if someone gets if someone
- 24:42Speaker 3: gets caught, you go to jail for twenty five years.
- 24:45Speaker 5: Maybe that's the answer, because at this point it just
- 24:48Speaker 5: becomes it's all a form of terrorizing the public, and
- 24:53Speaker 5: it's tortious interference of a business and everything else. Look
- 24:58Speaker 5: at me, I would handle on the law.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Hey there you all right?
- 25:01Speaker 5: So Golden Tempo, woo, come on with that.
- 25:06Speaker 6: Nineteen That was an impressive race.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Uh.
- 25:10Speaker 5: I will tell you I was talking with Conway about
- 25:14Speaker 5: this Saturday briefly. But you know this the woman who
- 25:19Speaker 5: trained this Kentucky Kentucky Derby winner. You know, she was
- 25:24Speaker 5: the first woman to train Kentucky Derby Derby winner. Her
- 25:28Speaker 5: name is is it Servau Si Cherie de Vaux?
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 25:35Speaker 5: She was speechless obviously when got Golden Tempo charged from
- 25:38Speaker 5: the back or the pack Saturday to make history for
- 25:41Speaker 5: her and this horse. And she says, I'm glad I
- 25:45Speaker 5: don't have to answer that question anymore about you know,
- 25:48Speaker 5: being the first woman and all this stuff. But good
- 25:50Speaker 5: good on her.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Yeah, twenty three to one. That is a you talk
- 25:55Speaker 3: about a horse coming up from behind. I don't want
- 25:58Speaker 3: to talk to Conway. He have gone nuts.
- 26:01Speaker 5: He was talking about it because he hosts right after
- 26:04Speaker 5: the Fork Report, he hosts the Crest Report about gold
- 26:09Speaker 5: and buying as a hedge and stuff like that. And
- 26:12Speaker 5: he said, how could I have missed that? You know
- 26:15Speaker 5: it's got gold right in the name.
- 26:17Speaker 3: There you go, and you know the story is from
- 26:20Speaker 3: ESPN dot com that the horses had made a final
- 26:25Speaker 3: turn and a golden tempo then made a quote hard
- 26:29Speaker 3: charge down the stretch. I can see Conway suffering from
- 26:33Speaker 3: a hard charge or enjoying a hard charge as his
- 26:37Speaker 3: horse was moving up.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Nobody wants hard charge in the middle of the day
- 26:42Speaker 5: like that. Nobody.
- 26:43Speaker 6: I think we have time for one more two times
- 26:46Speaker 6: the opportunity to learn. The Holocaust Museum in la the
- 26:50Speaker 6: first survivor founded an oldest Holocaust museum in the US.
- 26:54Speaker 6: It's going to reopen. It's been closed for the last
- 26:57Speaker 6: ten months while the new gold Rich Cultural Center was revamped.
- 27:03Speaker 6: It's a seventy million dollar campus expansion set to debut
- 27:07Speaker 6: June fourteenth in Pan Pacific Park. The seventy thousand square
- 27:11Speaker 6: foot center builds on the museum's original nineteen sixties mission
- 27:15Speaker 6: of teaching about the Holocaust. The old museum attracted seventy
- 27:20Speaker 6: five thousand visitors, including thirty thousand students a year. Well,
- 27:24Speaker 6: the gold Rich is expected to draw five hundred thousand
- 27:27Speaker 6: annual visitors.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Hey, is that I'm a little confused here. If it's
- 27:31Speaker 3: the same footprint, is it within the same area or
- 27:34Speaker 3: is that still two different museums.
- 27:36Speaker 6: The seventy thousand square foot center builds on the museum's
- 27:39Speaker 6: original sixties mission, doubles the museum's original thirty five thousand square.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Foot Okay, so it's the original museum that has been doubled.
- 27:46Speaker 6: That's what it sounds like to me. I haven't seen it,
- 27:48Speaker 6: but that's what it's Ever you ever gone, Yes, Yeah,
- 27:51Speaker 6: that's very very sobering, very impressive.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, if you want to have a good mood,
- 27:56Speaker 3: if you would like to celebrate, go to one of
- 27:58Speaker 3: these Holocaust museums. You'll come out just swistling a tune.
- 28:02Speaker 3: It is so depressing, it is.
- 28:05Speaker 6: But it's also it's so interesting and that they still have.
- 28:10Speaker 6: When we were there, so it was a few years ago,
- 28:12Speaker 6: they still had Holocaust survivors to come and talk.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Yeah, those people are almost I mean there are very
- 28:17Speaker 3: very few left. Yeah, very very few.
- 28:20Speaker 5: So he's done a huge project where they videoed them
- 28:26Speaker 5: and have put them in a database.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's well, show a foundation. My dad was part
- 28:32Speaker 2: of that.
- 28:33Speaker 3: He was interviewing and that was paid for by I
- 28:36Speaker 3: think Spielberg came up with the money for that and
- 28:40Speaker 3: they Yeah, it's a lot of stuff. And my father
- 28:42Speaker 3: you can actually look him up. Not understand a word,
- 28:44Speaker 3: of course, he says, but he is. He was interviewed
- 28:49Speaker 3: for that. All right, we're done, guys. Coming up, the
- 28:53Speaker 3: last shipment of Persian Gulf oil has hit Long Beach.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Now what this is kf I am sixty.
- 29:03Speaker 1: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show. Catch My
