- 0:02Speaker 1: I'm Megan, and oh I messed up. Welcome to Girls
- 0:07Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark of You Podcast. I'm Megan and
- 0:10Speaker 1: I'm a longtime Homemark movie fan. I'm Wendy and I'm
- 0:12Speaker 1: a reformed Homewark movie fan. That's not the line. Sorry,
- 0:18Speaker 1: go ahead, Ken, Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, A Hallmark
- 0:38Speaker 1: of You Podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime Homemark
- 0:41Speaker 1: movie fan. And I'm Wendy and I'm a reformed Hallmark hater.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I wrote it in the notes for you. I know,
- 0:48Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I remembered it, but yeah, my execution was
- 0:52Speaker 1: not great. I'm sorry. Today we're discussing a new release
- 0:54Speaker 1: from Hallmark, NAPA Ever After, which originally aired on Saturday,
- 0:58Speaker 1: August twenty sixth on the Hallmark Channel. If you want
- 1:02Speaker 1: to connect with us outside of the podcast, hey, we
- 1:04Speaker 1: would really love to have you do that. I've set
- 1:07Speaker 1: a follower goal for Instagram for the month of September,
- 1:09Speaker 1: so head on over and follow us on Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 1:13Speaker 1: or if you just want more Magan and Wendy. We
- 1:16Speaker 1: are at Megan and Wendy as well. Jump into our
- 1:19Speaker 1: Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark. It's fun over there, Little
- 1:24Speaker 1: Girl's Gone Hallmark Housekeeping. Let's update the people on our
- 1:27Speaker 1: schedule moving forward. Since this episode's dropping on a Thursday,
- 1:31Speaker 1: what's happening next? Tuesday, September fifth, we have our very
- 1:35Speaker 1: first fan favorite Fall Hallmark movie review, and we will
- 1:42Speaker 1: be reviewing Falling for you with one baby faced Tyler
- 1:47Speaker 1: Hines indeed throughout September and October. Yes, get all the
- 1:51Speaker 1: Fall movies. Yes. Thank you to the suggestions from our
- 1:54Speaker 1: friends over on Instagram who give us a line up
- 1:57Speaker 1: of movies they wanted to see us review. Yeah. I
- 2:00Speaker 1: haven't seen any of these movies. I'm sure you've seen
- 2:02Speaker 1: some of these. I'm sure they will seem familiar. I
- 2:05Speaker 1: forget until i'm watching them. The names are all very similar,
- 2:08Speaker 1: so until I'm watching and then I realized, oh, I
- 2:10Speaker 1: have seen this. And then on Thursdays, we will be
- 2:13Speaker 1: doing our new release reviews. Yes, two episodes every week,
- 2:18Speaker 1: two episodes from girls dot com work. We did these
- 2:23Speaker 1: fan favorite movies. Awesome were long. It was great on
- 2:26Speaker 1: a number of levels. One planning wise for us, it
- 2:28Speaker 1: made it a little bit easier, but it was fun.
- 2:30Speaker 1: To revisit these movies, and we got a lot of
- 2:34Speaker 1: great feedback because a lot of these movies are this
- 2:36Speaker 1: is someone's favorite movie or one of their favorites, so
- 2:39Speaker 1: that was really fun. We didn't love all of them,
- 2:41Speaker 1: so if you've missed an episode, go back. I apologize.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Actually I'm not sorry about what I said about Love
- 2:47Speaker 1: on the Sidelines, but every word. The fan favorite movie
- 2:51Speaker 1: reviews will continue beyond fall. We'll just be switching gears. Yeah, remember, Yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 1: I'm so excited too. I'm so excited. I don't know
- 2:58Speaker 1: how I went from watching one Hallmark movie, no, actually
- 3:02Speaker 1: watching zero Hallmark movies to one and now I'm watching
- 3:06Speaker 1: two a week at least. Well it's been a minute.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But there are some Hallmark news and notes to discuss. Okay,
- 3:15Speaker 1: let's start with I think the big one, and that
- 3:19Speaker 1: is Wanya Lewis is stepping down as the CEO of
- 3:22Speaker 1: Hallmark Media. This was met with shock when it was
- 3:24Speaker 1: announced a few weeks ago. I will say I was shocked. Yes,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I think partly because her contribution to the network has
- 3:31Speaker 1: been so positive and so well received. I snicker because
- 3:35Speaker 1: some comments say otherwise, Sure there, but those comments are
- 3:39Speaker 1: not our people. They don't like us either. She took
- 3:41Speaker 1: over in the wake of Bill Abbott leaving the network,
- 3:44Speaker 1: and my biggest question was why, because it hasn't been
- 3:47Speaker 1: that long. It's only been a few years, and I think, oh,
- 3:51Speaker 1: the network has seen growth. Yes, there are those detractors
- 3:55Speaker 1: who feel like growth and inclusivity is a bad thing,
- 3:58Speaker 1: but by and large, she's done great things for the network.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And we got some answers this week as to why
- 4:03Speaker 1: she made that choice. This is not as juicy as
- 4:06Speaker 1: maybe I had hoped. No, she told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I guess that's their local newspaper. After three years on
- 4:13Speaker 1: a job, she feels she's all done. Oh sorry, she's
- 4:17Speaker 1: done all the things she set out to do and
- 4:20Speaker 1: fulfilled the mission given to her by her boss. Well
- 4:23Speaker 1: that's not actually it. And she didn't want to leave Atlanta.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I think that's the bigger pee. I think so she
- 4:29Speaker 1: she's like, she's got some roots and Atlanta didn't want
- 4:31Speaker 1: to move to la She was able to work remotely
- 4:34Speaker 1: because of the pandemic, but then once they started requiring
- 4:36Speaker 1: everyone back in the office, she didn't want to do that.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Do you think that's really what it comes down to like,
- 4:42Speaker 1: She's like, I'm real comfortable. We're hearing at home sixties.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Why do I need to relocate? She's in her sixties.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You did it, but like, did you think we're going
- 4:49Speaker 1: to work from home forever? Maybe not, but I don't think.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I don't. I think it's less the work from home
- 4:54Speaker 1: than the relocating across the country. You've got roots, your
- 4:58Speaker 1: famili's here. I underst stan not wanting to pick up
- 5:01Speaker 1: and move. Yeah, somewhere else? Yeah, yeah, well, I will
- 5:05Speaker 1: tell you. I was on a Facebook page. I'm not
- 5:08Speaker 1: gonna I'm not gonna say which one, but the comments
- 5:12Speaker 1: about her leading were like, good riddance, good she's too woke.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm like, God, as if the next person is going
- 5:21Speaker 1: to revert to Bill Abbott great American family style. I
- 5:25Speaker 1: think Hallmark has seen this work for them, so I'm
- 5:28Speaker 1: looking forward to the new direction. Yeah yeah, Hey, did
- 5:32Speaker 1: you know Wes Brown? Didn't? I read yesterday that he is? Okay,
- 5:37Speaker 1: Wes Brown from haul Out the Holly, haul Out the
- 5:39Speaker 1: Holly two. That's is it called haul Out the Holly two.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I guess we'll find out. I don't know if it
- 5:45Speaker 1: has a different name than that. Anyway, he's releasing a
- 5:48Speaker 1: full length Christmas album on Christmas Day. Nope on Thanksgiving Day.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Oh better. I was like, that's too late. Yeah. Apparently
- 5:56Speaker 1: he is an accomplished jazz musician, and in twenty twenty
- 6:01Speaker 1: he released a special four song EP that included three
- 6:04Speaker 1: covers Holly Jolly Christmas, Have Yourself, A Merry Little Christmas,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and the Christmas Song, but also an original song called
- 6:12Speaker 1: snowed in with You. Have you listened? No, I haven't
- 6:17Speaker 1: wonder if he has like a Michael bublaze down. Let's
- 6:19Speaker 1: let's find out. I'm gonna do this song that has
- 6:21Speaker 1: the most listens and it's a song called Paradise. Okay,
- 6:25Speaker 1: afraid to say I'm into it. We're into it? Ooh.
- 6:31Speaker 1: This photo alongside his last Christmas He's in a babie.
- 6:36Speaker 1: This is real. Wowie's Howie Wes Brown's new biggest fan. Wow.
- 6:41Speaker 1: His voice is giving, like, oh, what's his name? He's
- 6:46Speaker 1: like married? He likes oh him, he might be married
- 6:50Speaker 1: to one are those rad pays a little bit? And
- 7:00Speaker 1: he is married to one of the Hallmark sisters, by
- 7:03Speaker 1: which she means the Williams sister. Doesn't he sound like
- 7:07Speaker 1: Brad Paisley a little bit. Yeah. I like that gravelly
- 7:09Speaker 1: voice was like a country vibe. I was expecting to
- 7:13Speaker 1: bring it. I will be downloading that streaming Thanksgiving Day
- 7:17Speaker 1: totally while you're decorating the tree. Thanks for being day,
- 7:22Speaker 1: my tree will have been here. I forgot. Wow, that
- 7:25Speaker 1: was an excellent news and note because that's good information,
- 7:29Speaker 1: and I've got more good news. Yeah. What Returning to
- 7:33Speaker 1: the Hallmark family, we have one Luke McFarland coming back.
- 7:37Speaker 1: He starred in the movie Bros. And on the Apple
- 7:40Speaker 1: TV series Platonic in his hiatus from Hallmark, and he's
- 7:44Speaker 1: coming back. He will start in a movie called Notes
- 7:46Speaker 1: of Autumn that also stars Ashley Williams, Marcus Rossner, and
- 7:49Speaker 1: Peter Portek, and he gets to be in a same
- 7:52Speaker 1: sec of romance in the movie. You might recall that
- 7:55Speaker 1: when he left, he said, I think I've told all
- 7:57Speaker 1: the stories Hallmark has for me to tell, and I
- 8:00Speaker 1: am glad that he's coming back and he gets to
- 8:03Speaker 1: be true to himself. Yes, because so he's not. Yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 1: which is not to say that people can't portray characters
- 8:09Speaker 1: who are different from them, but I think he was like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I'm a little tired of being the straight white firefighter.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And I love Luke McFarlane. I watched every second of Platonic.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Obviously Rose Byrne and Seth Rogan are the star stars
- 8:22Speaker 1: of that show, but he has a leading role. I
- 8:24Speaker 1: really loved them in that show. I just love Luke McFarlane.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I'm excited he's back. I'm surprised it's only been a
- 8:31Speaker 1: year since he left. Yeah, maybe they were like, this
- 8:35Speaker 1: is them, We're not just gonna throw you in around,
- 8:37Speaker 1: Like this is a great movie. This is a great
- 8:39Speaker 1: lineup to have. I think four stars working together. Yeah.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I don't know why more people aren't talking about it.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I think they will be. I'm very excited. There's not
- 8:48Speaker 1: even a movie poster out for it yet. So, and
- 8:51Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, Marcus Rossner is real pretty to
- 8:54Speaker 1: look at you. So let's move on to ever After
- 8:58Speaker 1: with a synopsis. All Right, lawyer inherits a family vineyard.
- 9:02Speaker 1: While on sabbatical from work to restore the vineyard, she
- 9:06Speaker 1: finds a love like she's never known before. This was
- 9:09Speaker 1: directed by Alphonse Attatui. It's his twelfth directing credit and
- 9:13Speaker 1: his third Hallmark movie, which includes Holiday Heritage and a
- 9:18Speaker 1: Second Chance at Love. The script was co written by
- 9:22Speaker 1: Nina Wineman and Wendy Elle Jackson. I would say, Ellie
- 9:28Speaker 1: Ellie Jackson. Yeah. Wendy Ellie Jackson has five writing credits
- 9:31Speaker 1: and this is her first Hallmark movie. She serves as
- 9:34Speaker 1: CEO for Auburn Avenue Films. Nina Wineman has thirty one
- 9:38Speaker 1: writing credits, almost exclusively for the Hallmark Channel, including a
- 9:42Speaker 1: movie from our fall fan favorite lineup called Pumpkin Pie Wars.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Denise Boute plays Cassandra. She has sixty acting credits, although
- 9:50Speaker 1: this is her first Hallmark movie, but she has six
- 9:53Speaker 1: credits in twenty twenty three alone Wow with something Else
- 9:57Speaker 1: coming out later this year on Hallmark. No oh, this
- 10:01Speaker 1: is her first for Hallmark. I'd love to see her back.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Darlinge Cook plays Grandma's bestie Isabelle. She has forty seven
- 10:08Speaker 1: acting credits, including another Mahogany movie called Holiday Heritage. Colin
- 10:13Speaker 1: Lawrence speaking of firefighters, huh yeah, we need one to
- 10:19Speaker 1: put out the flames from this dude. Oh my god,
- 10:22Speaker 1: that's so funny. He plays wider Alec. He has one
- 10:25Speaker 1: hundred and thirty eight acting credits, including a starring role
- 10:28Speaker 1: in Virgin River, which is a Netflix show that many
- 10:30Speaker 1: Hallmark fans like. He's also well known in the Hallmark
- 10:34Speaker 1: world for his role in the Christmas in Evergreen movies,
- 10:37Speaker 1: among others. But this is his This is the best
- 10:41Speaker 1: thing he's ever done. So, I don't know if you remember,
- 10:43Speaker 1: but he was in the early rounds of our Dudes
- 10:46Speaker 1: of Hallmark brackets. Yeah, nobody had a fighting chance, I
- 10:51Speaker 1: know against mister Hines. I know, I know. Was it
- 10:54Speaker 1: Heines and Walker in the end? Yeah? What are you
- 10:56Speaker 1: gonna do? I really feel for a lot of the
- 10:58Speaker 1: people in that bracket, but there's just not enough winners.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Should we do another one and like take them out?
- 11:05Speaker 1: I don't that? Just that seems weird. A Heines free bracket.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Maybe the top four don't get to participate. Oh yeah,
- 11:13Speaker 1: give everyone else a chance. You can't play along because
- 11:16Speaker 1: you were in the top four the previous Like you
- 11:18Speaker 1: can't win two years in the year exactly. Maybe we'll
- 11:22Speaker 1: see you're disqualified for excessive hotness, okay. Selena Lucaint plays
- 11:27Speaker 1: Alex's daughter Mary in her very first acting credit. Tiffany
- 11:32Speaker 1: Yvonne Cox plays bestie Lena. With thirty acting credits, many
- 11:38Speaker 1: of them are guest spots on series. Now, what's your
- 11:42Speaker 1: note here? I think she's being criminally under used. She
- 11:45Speaker 1: was an actress, fantastic. I loved her. This was originally
- 11:48Speaker 1: titled First Kiss and it was filmed in Vancouver and
- 11:51Speaker 1: the Okanagan Falls, British Columbia area. And Finally See You
- 11:57Speaker 1: Later Ranch was used as the winery in this movie.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It's your first impression on this movie? Okay, how about
- 12:03Speaker 1: you go first? Oh? My first impression is the Mahogany
- 12:07Speaker 1: line might be Hallmark's best way of telling big stories. Dude,
- 12:11Speaker 1: I have something about this is so crazy you said that.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I have some notes about that. I have my melts
- 12:17Speaker 1: about that. I love when that happens. My first impression is,
- 12:21Speaker 1: give me any movie with a nineties R and B song? Oh, Like, yes,
- 12:27Speaker 1: are you impressed that I knew that? By the way,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I am impressed that you knew that. This was like
- 12:31Speaker 1: a high school jam for me. I love the song.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And while watching this movie where they're like out and
- 12:37Speaker 1: the song comes on and the guy's like, that's my
- 12:40Speaker 1: jam and gets up to dance. Yeah, it was such
- 12:42Speaker 1: a great scene. Yeah, I just freaking loved it. They're like,
- 12:46Speaker 1: we're going to a nineties night out. I'm like, I
- 12:48Speaker 1: want to go to a nineties night out. Let's do it.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Will they play nineties hip hop and R and B
- 12:54Speaker 1: for me? Obviously? I would love it. I need to
- 12:56Speaker 1: relive my high school days. Do you know that my
- 12:59Speaker 1: thirtiethhigh school reunion is next month? Are you going? I
- 13:03Speaker 1: don't think so. Maybe I don't know. I haven't gotten
- 13:06Speaker 1: to any of them, not in zero neither have I. No,
- 13:08Speaker 1: I'm not really interested. So many mean girls that I
- 13:11Speaker 1: graduated with. Yeah, I know, I know it's not about them,
- 13:16Speaker 1: It's more about me on why I don't want to go? Yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 1: me too, So I don't know. Hey, would you like
- 13:23Speaker 1: about this movie? Okay? So it goes with your first impression.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And I feel like the Mahogany branded movies are more
- 13:32Speaker 1: interesting than your typical homework fair. I think the stories
- 13:36Speaker 1: are deeper and they're far more relevant. So something that
- 13:41Speaker 1: I often complain about that Hallmark does is they try
- 13:43Speaker 1: and do too much in a movie. And my complaint
- 13:47Speaker 1: about that. Sometimes I like it because keep me interested,
- 13:51Speaker 1: keep me invested, But often I feel like it's not
- 13:54Speaker 1: done well and we don't get to fully realize a
- 13:58Speaker 1: lot of these storylines. Yeah, and I'm reminded of unthinkably
- 14:04Speaker 1: good things. Another movie that I think did a lot
- 14:07Speaker 1: and did it well. And I think telling these stories
- 14:11Speaker 1: well doesn't mean you bring them all to a conclusion.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I don't needed you to have wrapped up every detail
- 14:17Speaker 1: of every storyline, but I want to feel like, if
- 14:21Speaker 1: you're going to introduce a story to me, like you've
- 14:23Speaker 1: given that story some consideration, like it's not just a
- 14:28Speaker 1: throwaway moment. And I think this movie did that really well.
- 14:33Speaker 1: There's a lot going on. She's grappling with taking over
- 14:37Speaker 1: the vineyard versus her career as a lawyer. Alec is
- 14:40Speaker 1: grappling with moving on after losing his wife. She's got
- 14:45Speaker 1: family issues with her relationship with her grandmother and her
- 14:48Speaker 1: mother and her father. There's a lot going on, and
- 14:50Speaker 1: I think they gave the appropriate amount of weight to
- 14:53Speaker 1: those stories that made me feel invested in them. I
- 14:57Speaker 1: thought they did a good job. I agree. I think
- 15:00Speaker 1: I think they do these movies better. I don't know why. Well,
- 15:04Speaker 1: I was wondering why too, what is it who's the
- 15:08Speaker 1: production team behind Mahogany Because they're doing a good job. Yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I agree, I agree in that vein. I feel like
- 15:19Speaker 1: the interactions amongst the girlfriends, yes, is noteworthy because I
- 15:25Speaker 1: feel like their chemistry was like effortless supportive, and I
- 15:31Speaker 1: think Mahogany movies in particular, we see that repeated quite
- 15:37Speaker 1: a bit. I don't feel like we see that in
- 15:40Speaker 1: non Mahogany movies, like we don't see core girlfriends with
- 15:44Speaker 1: the exception of the wedding veil. That's what comes to mind,
- 15:47Speaker 1: like really there for each other. Yeah, the girlfriend relationship
- 15:52Speaker 1: I think was given as much weight as the romantic
- 15:55Speaker 1: relationship in this movie, which is good because the romantic
- 16:01Speaker 1: relationship is new, right, she needs to have those relationship
- 16:05Speaker 1: are still very much important to her. There still are
- 16:07Speaker 1: her foundation. Yeah. Yeah. I liked the Isabelle character her
- 16:13Speaker 1: grandmother's best friend. I think it tied her relationship to
- 16:18Speaker 1: her grandmother. It was a nice way to keep her
- 16:22Speaker 1: grandmother present in the story even though she had passed.
- 16:27Speaker 1: She kind of played that like surrogate grandmother to her,
- 16:30Speaker 1: which I really liked. And I liked her character much
- 16:34Speaker 1: like the movie reviewed last week where I said the
- 16:37Speaker 1: characters surprised me. They didn't do things in the way
- 16:42Speaker 1: I've been conditioned to expect them today. She was very
- 16:45Speaker 1: much willing to let Cassandra come to her own conclusions.
- 16:48Speaker 1: As much as she knew how important the vineyard was
- 16:50Speaker 1: to her grandmother, as much as it was important to her,
- 16:54Speaker 1: she let Cassie figure it out. Yeah, she wasn't afraid
- 16:58Speaker 1: to remind her of how important it was to her grandmother,
- 17:01Speaker 1: or that maybe this was the place she was supposed
- 17:04Speaker 1: to be. But there wasn't that thing that we see
- 17:07Speaker 1: in Hallmark that I think the dad did. This is
- 17:10Speaker 1: what's expected of you, right, and this is the right choice, right.
- 17:15Speaker 1: And I liked it. I liked it too. Hello to
- 17:19Speaker 1: a shirtless Colin. Oh my, oh my god. It was
- 17:23Speaker 1: such a quick, tiny little scene. But her watching out
- 17:27Speaker 1: over the vineyard looking at him while he is shirtless
- 17:29Speaker 1: working out there, working in the vineyard, I thought was
- 17:32Speaker 1: quite funny. She's like, this is just a beautiful view.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Larn Lawrence, let's talk about it. It has always been
- 17:38Speaker 1: a wowie's awe for me. But in the Evergreen movies,
- 17:42Speaker 1: he's real milk toast. I enjoy him, but his character
- 17:46Speaker 1: is just kind of there. And I again talk about
- 17:50Speaker 1: criminally under used. In the final Evergreen movie, he only
- 17:53Speaker 1: appears via zoom, like he must have been somewhere else
- 17:57Speaker 1: and couldn't meet COVID requirements to come back and film,
- 17:59Speaker 1: And it is such a shame they had to wrap
- 18:02Speaker 1: up his storyline with Holly Robinson Pete's character. But in
- 18:06Speaker 1: this movie he brings the heat. And I don't just
- 18:09Speaker 1: mean yes, that shirtless moment's great. There's so many moments
- 18:12Speaker 1: where he's just like bringing the wowie es awey. But
- 18:15Speaker 1: also when he's like, I got you, I will always
- 18:19Speaker 1: be here for you. That's my next note. How much
- 18:22Speaker 1: do I want someone to say to me, I know
- 18:25Speaker 1: I got you? Megan, when he tells her like how
- 18:28Speaker 1: he's feeling towards her, it was like no misunderstanding, very vulnerable.
- 18:34Speaker 1: It was such a nice moment. Yes, I really enjoy him.
- 18:41Speaker 1: He needs to be in more movies. To be clear,
- 18:44Speaker 1: he works quite a bit. It is one hundred and
- 18:46Speaker 1: thirty eight acting okay, but he's not like a ton
- 18:49Speaker 1: of homework movies. He's not like a lead dude. Also,
- 18:53Speaker 1: he does have that lead role in Virgin River, which
- 18:56Speaker 1: has five season Okay, I don't watch that show. Are
- 18:59Speaker 1: you shocked? No? On a light, don't out loved Cassie's
- 19:02Speaker 1: wardrobe even when she's in her pajama nice but fully
- 19:06Speaker 1: coordinated outfits, and her friends are like, maybe you could
- 19:09Speaker 1: go get dressed, and I'm like, she looks great. I
- 19:11Speaker 1: have I thought so too. Hey, I didn't hate Mary
- 19:15Speaker 1: his daughter, I wondered, I enjoyed her. I don't like
- 19:18Speaker 1: kids in movies. She just was like so grown up
- 19:21Speaker 1: and sweet, not annoying. I was here for Mary. She's like,
- 19:25Speaker 1: why are you leaving? Are you ready to talk? What
- 19:27Speaker 1: you wish for? M M. I wish Alec hadn't financially
- 19:30Speaker 1: invested in the vineyard. Yeah, sticky, too quick. Your dad
- 19:35Speaker 1: came in. It makes a lot of sense for your dad,
- 19:39Speaker 1: who had this successful legal career, who was related to you,
- 19:43Speaker 1: who feels a lot of responsibility for the fact that
- 19:47Speaker 1: his daughter and his wife were taken away from the vineyard.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I think it's fine for a father who you have
- 19:53Speaker 1: a relationship with to invest in your business. Now. Sure,
- 19:57Speaker 1: Alec had a lot of personal investment, but I thought
- 20:03Speaker 1: it was real sticky for her to immediately accept his offer,
- 20:08Speaker 1: like she took her dad's money. In the short term,
- 20:10Speaker 1: Let Alec be your partner. He knows how to run
- 20:13Speaker 1: this place. That is his investment. He knows way more
- 20:16Speaker 1: than you. You don't need his money, you need what
- 20:18Speaker 1: he knows. You need his knowledge. Yeah, he could be
- 20:21Speaker 1: your partner. Yeah, but don't take his money, don't take
- 20:24Speaker 1: his savings. He's a single dad with a daughter. Yeah yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I know. Okay, So but make this make sense for me, please,
- 20:31Speaker 1: Because Alec is a software app designer who spends his
- 20:36Speaker 1: free time working in the vineyard. Yeah, maybe he like
- 20:40Speaker 1: sold something and is just living off royalties from an
- 20:44Speaker 1: app he sold. He's there a lot, yes, and for
- 20:49Speaker 1: not to be paid, yeah, is I mean? I think
- 20:53Speaker 1: was he being paid? I don't know. I don't know
- 20:55Speaker 1: he was or not. I just assumed that he was
- 20:57Speaker 1: like volunteering his time there. Well, he talked about how
- 21:00Speaker 1: much her grandmother meant to him and how she was
- 21:05Speaker 1: really important to him, and so I think he felt
- 21:08Speaker 1: really connected to the vineyard like family. Well he really
- 21:11Speaker 1: let it go to shit, didn't he. Oh No, I'm
- 21:14Speaker 1: just saying everything was in disrepair there, like if he
- 21:18Speaker 1: was there, I know, it takes money, and like you,
- 21:21Speaker 1: I had taken lots of loans out. What he did
- 21:23Speaker 1: when he could but to expect him to renovate the barn.
- 21:26Speaker 1: That's not on him. I know, I know put their
- 21:29Speaker 1: little gazebo where they were doing movies. Ad was like
- 21:32Speaker 1: a storage shed. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I have another like make it make sense for me?
- 21:40Speaker 1: Why would Cassandra's mom take away the daughter. It was
- 21:46Speaker 1: like she was from the grandmother, like she was like
- 21:49Speaker 1: punishing her. Yes, even this is what I didn't make sense.
- 21:52Speaker 1: They moved away for the dad's career and never saw
- 21:56Speaker 1: the grandmother. Why couldn't they beg an each other's life.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I don't know, because when they leave, it's a very
- 22:03Speaker 1: quick scene. We just see them leaving, and we don't
- 22:04Speaker 1: really find out until later why they left. She doesn't
- 22:07Speaker 1: even find out that her grandmother's passed until she gets
- 22:09Speaker 1: a phone call from the lawyer handling her estate. It
- 22:13Speaker 1: just seemed like there was so much love there. The
- 22:16Speaker 1: grandmother hunted down the mother's artwork and purchased it anonymously.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Why didn't they maintain a relationship. Why couldn't she visit?
- 22:25Speaker 1: Plenty of families don't live near their grandparents and they
- 22:27Speaker 1: still visit and have full relationships. It doesn't make sense
- 22:31Speaker 1: to me. This is gonna be a sticking point for
- 22:33Speaker 1: me again to love interest who bicker at the beginning,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I stop doing that, like stop doing that. We are
- 22:42Speaker 1: also Our next review is for falling for You, and
- 22:46Speaker 1: spoiler alert, there's a lot of that. Sometimes this sort
- 22:50Speaker 1: of bickering is done well in like a bantery sort
- 22:53Speaker 1: of way, and sometimes it's in a mean spirited sort
- 22:56Speaker 1: of way. Yea, And I think these two movies leaned
- 22:59Speaker 1: a little heavily on one of the characters being a
- 23:02Speaker 1: little mean spirited towards the other. Yeah, and in this
- 23:04Speaker 1: case it was Cassie. I get that you're a strong,
- 23:07Speaker 1: confident woman and you can do it on your own,
- 23:11Speaker 1: but there was just a little bit of a snideness
- 23:15Speaker 1: almost to the I don't need your help and the
- 23:19Speaker 1: who are you aspect of it. I didn't love that, Yes,
- 23:24Speaker 1: and I need you see them start to warm up
- 23:27Speaker 1: to each other, and I did believe their passion for
- 23:29Speaker 1: each other, and I did find their connection very genuine.
- 23:34Speaker 1: But you almost have to forget the first half of
- 23:36Speaker 1: the movie in order to get there. I agree. Agree. Finally,
- 23:40Speaker 1: the last thing, I thought the end wrapped up too quickly.
- 23:44Speaker 1: We go from like Cassandra totally in the weeds, and
- 23:47Speaker 1: then her dad paying for like your repairs, and that
- 23:50Speaker 1: Alex I'm not saying Alex apostrophe es yes, his investment,
- 23:54Speaker 1: and then boom they're married. Yeah. I think it should
- 23:57Speaker 1: have just ended with her friend's wedding and they're all happy,
- 24:00Speaker 1: and then that leaves us maybe open for future vineyard
- 24:04Speaker 1: wedding for sure. They didn't need to get married for me, Like,
- 24:08Speaker 1: I understand you're trying to sell the like now this
- 24:11Speaker 1: is a wedding destination, but it would have sold it
- 24:14Speaker 1: to me showing me her friend's beautiful wedding going off
- 24:17Speaker 1: without a hitch, right, and they're you know, toasting with
- 24:20Speaker 1: a glass of champagne. That's all I needed, I agree.
- 24:23Speaker 1: All right, let's move on to did you see that?
- 24:25Speaker 1: I saw nothing? Nothing, not one thing. Okay, I have
- 24:28Speaker 1: a small list. I think they used some green screen.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I'm not quite sure because seeing that it was without
- 24:35Speaker 1: the window, Yeah, it's out the windows stuff, Like it
- 24:38Speaker 1: just seemed so obvious to me. I was like, the yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 1: like when they're at the vineyard, that all that exterior
- 24:45Speaker 1: stuff is shot at the vineyard, but inside the house
- 24:47Speaker 1: they're not using the home at the vineyard right exactly.
- 24:50Speaker 1: So it was just this looked weird, and I think
- 24:53Speaker 1: I watched this on a big TV, like a real
- 24:55Speaker 1: big TV, so like it's just so glaringly obvious to me.
- 24:58Speaker 1: The next thing, because Sandra with her AirPods dancing and vacuumine,
- 25:03Speaker 1: I felt seen, Yeah, I felt like that's very much
- 25:05Speaker 1: something I do at my own home. Yes, I just
- 25:07Speaker 1: thought it was real cute scene Lena's fiance. It's when
- 25:12Speaker 1: they go out to that nineties bar and they're getting
- 25:15Speaker 1: ready to leave and Lena's like trying to get out
- 25:17Speaker 1: of there, so Cassie and Alec can like hook up
- 25:20Speaker 1: or whatever or whatever home have a moment, and then
- 25:23Speaker 1: like the fiance comes running back and he's like, my
- 25:25Speaker 1: car wone start. It was a brand new range Rover.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I'm like, what okay too. Although range rovers are known
- 25:32Speaker 1: for their they have issues, maintenance issues. Mary's birthday party,
- 25:37Speaker 1: all the balloons, it was so pretty. I was thought
- 25:40Speaker 1: those balloons are making such an impact in the scene. However,
- 25:43Speaker 1: like they were giving out those smallbleless little cups of popcorn.
- 25:47Speaker 1: These are I noticed the little popcorn. But it's a
- 25:52Speaker 1: party I'm not like, you're sitting down to watch a movie.
- 25:54Speaker 1: That's just one of your many snacks. I thought they
- 25:56Speaker 1: were at the movie and I was like, what is
- 25:57Speaker 1: that popcorn for a movie? I agree, it was like
- 26:00Speaker 1: cup of popcorn that was not going to work for me,
- 26:02Speaker 1: but yeah, as a snack kind of cute. And then
- 26:05Speaker 1: I thought Cassandra's dad reminded me of Philip Binks, Oh,
- 26:08Speaker 1: the dad from Fresh Prints of bel Air who has
- 26:11Speaker 1: since passed. I didn't realize, but I thought, like, same
- 26:14Speaker 1: kind of vibe. Theres actor, James Avery, that's it cool,
- 26:19Speaker 1: nothing groundbreaking. What did you rate nap ever after? Okay,
- 26:24Speaker 1: I gave it three point seventy five. And this is
- 26:26Speaker 1: why I thought it was a mellow movie, not a
- 26:29Speaker 1: ton of high drama or high tension. And him was
- 26:33Speaker 1: very pretty to look at. I get it four stars.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I thought it was a big wow. I really liked it. Wow. Hey, girls,
