- 0:04So one day this rich dude comes to Jesus and says, hey Jesus,
- 0:08what I got to do to go to heaven man?
- 0:11And Jesus says, hey Holmes, just honor the code.
- 0:14What code? You know the 10 codes.
- 0:18You mean commandments? Whatever, so the rich dude says
- 0:23OK man, I'd be doing it my whole life.
- 0:25And Jesus says no, you ain't be doing them homie.
- 0:29He's not obeying the 10 commandments, I understand.
- 0:33Anyway, so Jesus says there is one you ain't doing.
- 0:37And the dude says are you crazy? I'd be doing them my whole life.
- 0:41And Jesus says there's one you ain't doing.
- 0:45You've been chilling on money more than God.
- 0:48Chilling on money. Yeah, like money was his right,
- 0:51you know? No, I don't know.
- 0:54He loved money more than he loved God.
- 0:57Why didn't you say that? I did.
- 1:00Go on. So Jesus tells the rich dude,
- 1:04give away your money Holmes and follow me.
- 1:07And the dude says no way Jose and he just walks away man.
- 1:12He wasn't obedient. What?
- 1:15That's our word for today. Obedient.
- 1:18Matthew 724 says anyone who listens to God's word and does
- 1:23it is wise. So the wise person is obedient
- 1:27to God's Word. You do know what obedient means,
- 1:30don't you, Paco? What are you thinking?
- 1:33Of course I know what it means. OK, prove it.
- 1:38Prove it. Like if I tell you to do
- 1:40something, how would you be obedient?
- 1:43Depends on what you tell me to do.
- 1:45No, it doesn't. If I tell you to do something,
- 1:49you're either obedient or you're not obedient.
- 1:52That's what I'm saying. What if you tell me to eat my
- 1:56veggies? Maybe I'd be doing it.
- 1:59Depends on if I like the veggies.
- 2:01If I don't like them, I'd be not doing it.
- 2:04Now if you tell me to jump off a Cliff, there is no way I'd be
- 2:07doing that. But if you tell me to tell
- 2:09someone about Jesus, I'd be doing it.
- 2:12That's OB doing it. The word is obedient, not OB
- 2:17doing it. Same thing man.
- 2:19It's. Not the same thing.
- 2:21If I tell you to do something and you do it, that's obedient.
- 2:25I'd be doing it. But if I tell you to do
- 2:28something and you don't do it, then you're not obedient.
- 2:31I'd be not doing it. The word is obedient.
- 2:35OB doing it. I give up, you win.
- 2:41I be did it man, I be did it. So one day this homie gets
- 2:59attacked by a gang and they beat him up and leave him lying on
- 3:02the road crying. And so this priest comes and
- 3:05sees the homie lying on the ground, and then crosses the
- 3:07street to go around him. Why didn't he help him?
- 3:12I don't know. Why don't you ask him?
- 3:14Well, what's his name? Whose name?
- 3:16The priest that walked around, the guy that was hurt.
- 3:19I don't know his name. The Bible doesn't say.
- 3:22It's a Bible story. Yeah, it's a story of the good
- 3:26slow meriton the. Good slow meriton.
- 3:31I've never heard of that story. Which is why I'm telling it so
- 3:35Then another guy comes walking by.
- 3:37I think he worked for the church too, but he looked at the homie
- 3:40and didn't want to help the homie either, so he crossed the
- 3:43street and walked away. Shouldn't the people from a
- 3:46church be willing to help someone that's.
- 3:48Hurting, right? But they didn't.
- 3:51So then along comes the slow marathon and he sees the homie
- 3:55and says, hey homie, what happened to you?
- 3:58And the homie says some lactose messed me up man, can you help
- 4:01me? And the slow marathon says, See
- 4:03what I have to warn you, I'm a marathon, and a slow one at
- 4:06that. Why did he say that?
- 4:09'Cause he was really slow, man. Oh, I mean why did he warn him
- 4:12that he was a marathon? I don't know.
- 4:14No, maybe he smelled funny. Anyway, he takes him to the
- 4:17motel and he. The motel.
- 4:20Yeah, because they didn't have a hospital, I guess.
- 4:22And I think the hotel guy was a doctor because the slow Meritan
- 4:25paid him to take care of the homie.
- 4:27That sounds a lot like the story of the Good Samaritan.
- 4:30I Samaritan, What? What did I say?
- 4:33You said slow Meritan. Well, forget.
- 4:36What I said. No, it was still a good story.
- 4:39The person that you thought would be loving the priest and
- 4:42the other guy that worked at the church, they weren't loving at
- 4:46all. It was the guy that no one
- 4:48expected to help, the guy that smelled bad that actually ended
- 4:52up being a good neighbor because he was loving.
- 4:55That's our word for today, Paco Loving.
- 4:57So the slow Meritan ended up being the Good Samaritan?
- 5:01What? So if you're a fast Meritan,
- 5:04does that make you a bad Samaritan?
- 5:06OK, you're not making any sense at all.
- 5:09So we all need to slow down and help people that are hurting.
- 5:13That's a good point. Luke 631 says do to others as
- 5:18you would like them to do to. You so slow down and be loving.
- 5:23Yeah, what? He said.
- 5:26Right low and slow. One day Jesus was taking a
- 5:43little siesta, a nap, You know, he didn't have a car so we had
- 5:47to walk everywhere. Anyways, this Mama tries to
- 5:51bring her Nino. Her Nino.
- 5:53Her little boy. So the Mama wants Jesus to say
- 5:57something good to her little Nino.
- 5:59Her little boy. You know, like a prayer.
- 6:02But the disciple says to her own momento Well, they say, wait a
- 6:05minute. OK.
- 6:07So the disciple says to her, Jesus is taking a siesta.
- 6:11And the Mama says to the disciple, please, we walked all
- 6:14the way here because we don't have a car either.
- 6:16She said she didn't have a car. Why would she say that she
- 6:20doesn't even know what a car is? But you said?
- 6:22That's why they walked around everywhere.
- 6:24Nobody. There's a car in the Bible I but
- 6:27they have Chariots, which are kind of like cars.
- 6:30It's like a cart that a horse pulls around, but you have to be
- 6:33in the army to get a chariot. Sorry.
- 6:35I asked. Anyways, the Mama wouldn't go
- 6:39away. The disciple would tell her no.
- 6:41And the Mama would say, don't you tell me no.
- 6:44You wake Jesus up. And so Jesus wakes up because
- 6:47the Mama is hitting the disciple with her chocolate.
- 6:49Pass, pass, pass. Her.
- 6:52Her slipper. I think it was still morning.
- 6:55Anyways, Jesus wakes up and says what's up?
- 6:58And the disciple says, Jesus, this senora wants you to say
- 7:01something good to her little Nino, her little boy.
- 7:04And Jesus says, I would love to say a prayer for the Nino.
- 7:06And so he did. That's a great story of how the
- 7:10little boy's Mama didn't lose hope.
- 7:13She stayed hopeful. That's our word for today, Paco.
- 7:17Hopeful. When we put our trust in God,
- 7:20even when it looks like bad things are happening all around
- 7:23us, we know that God is going to do something good.
- 7:26That's why Mark 1014 says let the children come to me.
- 7:31I remember one time I was hopeful.
- 7:33I was watching TV with my Big Brother and he kept passing gas
- 7:36sticking up the room. So I got put up and empty the
- 7:38kitchen trash. That's being helpful, not
- 7:42hopeful. No, I was hopeful.
- 7:45I put the trash under my big brother's bed, hoping it would
- 7:47stink up his room so he would know how I felt.
- 7:50That's not putting your trust in God, Paco.
- 7:53It's not. No, you should be praying for
- 7:56your brother instead of putting trash under his bed.
- 7:59Well, I'm praying that he smells it.
- 8:01Does that count? I give up.
- 8:04What did I say? Hey, I hope you're not mad at
- 8:06me. Dear God, help fish not to be
- 8:09mad at me. OK?
- 8:24So one day Jesus is teaching his disciples, and then Santiago and
- 8:28Juan. Santa who?
- 8:30Not Santa Who? Santiago and Juan.
- 8:34Who are they? Jesus disciples, I don't.
- 8:37Remember a Santiago and Juan? Well then read your Bible
- 8:42anyway. So Santiago and Juan go to Jesus
- 8:46and say, hey, when we get to heaven, can we sit beside you?
- 8:49You know, like right next to you.
- 8:51Oh, you mean James and John? That's what I said.
- 8:55No, you said Santiago and Juan. It was same thing.
- 8:59So why did they want to sit next to Jesus?
- 9:02What do you think? They wanted to be in charge,
- 9:05man. In charge.
- 9:06Yeah, you know, Jesus is the king on his throne, and then his
- 9:10assistant kings, Santiago and Juan, sit beside him.
- 9:14But Jesus said if you want to be in charge, then you have to be a
- 9:18surfer. A surfer.
- 9:20Yeah, the greatest in his Kingdom is the surfer of all.
- 9:25I think you mean Servant. Serpent.
- 9:29Isn't that a snake? Servant, A person that serves,
- 9:34that helps others. In fact, our word for today is
- 9:37helpful. Galatians 513 says serve one
- 9:41another in love. That's being helpful.
- 9:44Helpful. Yeah, Jesus was telling them
- 9:47that to be great in his Kingdom you have to be helpful.
- 9:50Well, I'm always helpful when it's time to eat.
- 9:53Do you pass the food around? No, I just tell my Mama I want a
- 9:58helping full of beans and a helping full of rice and a
- 10:02helping full of carne. No, no, no.
- 10:05Not helping. Full helpful.
- 10:08That means you help others every time you have a chance.
- 10:11Like when I put my plate in the sink.
- 10:14Yeah, but you could offer to put someone else's plate in the
- 10:17sink, too. Like who?
- 10:19Anybody. Your mom, your dad, your brother
- 10:22or sister. Can't they take their own
- 10:24plates? They have two legs.
- 10:28What else can I do to be helpful?
- 10:30Well, if someone was hurt, you could pray for them or cheer
- 10:33them up or get them some water. If someone was getting picked
- 10:37on, you could be their friend and stand up for them.
- 10:40And if somebody didn't know Jesus, well, you could tell
- 10:43them. Those are good ideas, Fish.
- 10:46I'm going to start being helpful.
- 10:49Can I put your plate in the sink for you?
- 10:51For me. Yeah, you don't have any legs,
- 10:54so I thought I would help. So one day this man named, I'll
- 11:10call him Mr. Z. Mr. Z.
- 11:13His name is too hard to say. It starts with AZ.
- 11:16You mean Zacchaeus? That's it.
- 11:18Zach. Zach, Zach.
- 11:21So Mr. Z heard Jesus was coming to town and he wanted to see
- 11:25him, but there was already a line of people all over the
- 11:27place, and Mr. Z couldn't see because everyone was too tall.
- 11:30Everyone was too tall. Yeah, because Mr. Z was like,
- 11:34really short. Well, how short was he?
- 11:36I don't know, too short to see over the people.
- 11:39We should have asked to be in front.
- 11:41I'm sure the people would have let him through.
- 11:43No way, Jose. Not Mr. Z, Ain't nobody like
- 11:46him. Why not?
- 11:47He was a wax collector. A wax collector.
- 11:51Yeah, like when you dig around in your ears and get some wax
- 11:54out of it, most people wipe it off and throw it away.
- 11:57But Mr. Z, he collected it. That's gross, huh?
- 12:01I don't know. I don't have any ears.
- 12:03Anyways, Mr. Z decides to climb a tree, which usually only tall
- 12:08people can do unless they get a boost from someone.
- 12:10But he climbs a tree and sees Jesus, and Jesus sees him and
- 12:15says, and Mr. Z, I'm coming to your house to eat.
- 12:18When did Jesus say that? I don't know, maybe Mr. Z at a
- 12:22restaurant at his house. Hey, maybe it had candles on the
- 12:25table which would explain the wax collecting.
- 12:28So did Zacchaeus take him to his house?
- 12:32Of course, and all the people were upset because they didn't
- 12:35like Mr. Z and Jesus chose him to go eat with.
- 12:39That's because Jesus is friendly.
- 12:41That's our word for today. Friendly.
- 12:43Yeah, he was friendly even to the person everyone else hated.
- 12:48That's what God's love in US does.
- 12:50It makes us friendly, John 1512 says.
- 12:54I love others like Jesus loves me.
- 12:57Mr. Z must have gotten some of God's love in him, because after
- 13:00eating with Jesus, he started being friendly to poor people.
- 13:04He gave them half of his money. Wow that is friendly.
- 13:08So did people start liking him after that?
- 13:11The poor people, yes. Everyone else, no.
- 13:14He told Jesus that he was going to give people back four times
- 13:18as much earwax as he had taken from them.
- 13:21That's gross times 4 man. Wait a minute, I just remembered
- 13:27Zacchaeus wasn't a wax collector, he's a tax collector.
- 13:31Taxes are money that you have to pay to the government.
- 13:34So he got taxes out of people's ears.
- 13:37Not out of their ears, out of their wallets.
- 13:41What about the candles in this restaurant?
- 13:44Were they made out of taxes? Well, if he had candles, I'm
- 13:47sure they were made out of wax. So Mr. Z was a wax and tax
- 13:53collector. You left without saying goodbye
- 13:57again. That's not very friendly.
- 14:13So this man had two sons, and one of the sons said, hey, Dad,
- 14:16can I have my allowance? And I guess it was a big
- 14:18allowance because he packed up his clothes and moved out of the
- 14:21house. Where did he go?
- 14:23He must have gotten an apartment or something.
- 14:25Wow, that's a big allowance. Right, so he starts spending all
- 14:30of his money doing bad things. Like kind of bad things.
- 14:34I don't know bad things like playing those video games your
- 14:38mom doesn't let you play, I guess.
- 14:40Anyways, pretty soon he's all out of money, so he has to get a
- 14:43job. You mean like at McDonald's?
- 14:46I don't know what his name was but it was a job feeding pigs
- 14:50and whenever he got paid it wasn't enough to buy food so he
- 14:53had to eat the pig food that he was feeding the pigs.
- 14:57So what happened to him? Well, one day he remembered what
- 15:00it was like to be at home with his dad, so he decided to move
- 15:04back home. That was smart.
- 15:06Yeah, but he was worried that his dad would be mad because he
- 15:09spent all of his allowance playing all those bad video
- 15:12games and stuff, so he decided to ask his dad for a job.
- 15:16So he would get paid an allowance again and live at home
- 15:20for free. Well, I think he was willing to
- 15:22just work for food, you know, home cooked meals instead of big
- 15:25food. He didn't care about the
- 15:26allowance. So did his dad say yes?
- 15:31See that's the crazy part. Ever since he left home, the dad
- 15:35would be looking down the street hoping he would come back.
- 15:38So when he finally did come back, his dad was so happy he
- 15:41threw a big party for him and I guess he left all of his clothes
- 15:44back at the apartment because his dad had to give him shoes
- 15:47and robes and stuff. His dad must have had a lot of
- 15:50patience. What, like he was a doctor?
- 15:53No, he waited every day for his son to come home.
- 15:57He never stopped loving his Son even though he moved away.
- 16:01That's how God is. First Corinthians 13, seven says
- 16:05love never gives up. Patience means you never give
- 16:10up. Oh so like the dad saved all of
- 16:12his allowance that he didn't have to pay since his son moved
- 16:16away? He didn't have to give it up
- 16:17since he wasn't there? What?
- 16:20The allowance, the money? If he had still lived at home,
- 16:23he would have gotten more money for his allowance, but the dad
- 16:26didn't have to pay since he moved away.
- 16:29Patience. The word is patience.
- 16:32Yeah, that's what I said. Never mind.
- 16:36Hey, are you giving up? Where's your pace sense?
