- 0:00Speaker 1: Same track, different name.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Moto GP is back at Mazzano, but this time for
- 0:05Speaker 2: the Pramac sponsored Amelia Romana Grompri. I'm your host, Rinita Vmullen,
- 0:11Speaker 2: and joining us today is the man who cracks the
- 0:14Speaker 2: case on every Motor GP rumor, hunts down every headline
- 0:18Speaker 2: and leaves no pit lane stone unturned, our very own
- 0:21Speaker 2: Moto GP News detective Matt Clayton. Matt, I think we
- 0:26Speaker 2: have to start this podcast by talking about the whole
- 0:30Speaker 2: can of worms that has recently been reopened by Valentino
- 0:33Speaker 2: Rossi as cans.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Of worms go, Rnita, how big is this can at
- 0:38Speaker 3: this point because we've been opening and reopening and reopening
- 0:41Speaker 3: this can of worms for about nine years. But yes,
- 0:44Speaker 3: it wouldn't be a race at Massado without a Valentino
- 0:47Speaker 3: Rossi headline because it is in his backyard, and quite
- 0:50Speaker 3: often the headline with Valentino since twenty fifteen, anyway, has
- 0:53Speaker 3: involved Mark Barkez and here we go again. But perhaps
- 0:57Speaker 3: you can set the scene for people as to what's happened,
- 1:00Speaker 3: and then maybe I can weigh in with a few thoughts.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, So for those who don't know what's happened,
- 1:06Speaker 2: He's recently come on one of his Protegees podcast and
- 1:10Speaker 2: it is in Italian but you can listen to it
- 1:13Speaker 2: with English subtitles, and they've basically came on to talk
- 1:18Speaker 2: about his career so far. But obviously a huge part
- 1:21Speaker 2: of his career is that twenty to fifteen clash at
- 1:25Speaker 2: Sapaying with Mark Marquez where we don't.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Really know the outcome of it.
- 1:30Speaker 2: One side of it was Valentino Rossi kicked him or
- 1:33Speaker 2: pushed him.
- 1:33Speaker 1: The other side of.
- 1:34Speaker 2: It was Mark was there trying to basically just ruin
- 1:38Speaker 2: Valentino's whole chances of winning the Moto GP World Championship.
- 1:43Speaker 2: So this got brought up in conversation and by the
- 1:47Speaker 2: sounds of it, Valentino Rossi just hasn't let go. He
- 1:50Speaker 2: hasn't brushed that under the rug at all.
- 1:53Speaker 3: No, there's no building of bridges to get over things here,
- 1:56Speaker 3: are there. But it's interesting to meet Reneita that you know,
- 1:59Speaker 3: this is nothing new from Valentino in that I wrote
- 2:02Speaker 3: a piece for Fox Sports dot com dot AU that's
- 2:04Speaker 3: gone up for Wednesday Australian time and talking about he
- 2:09Speaker 3: sort of played all the hits because he's just doing
- 2:11Speaker 3: all the old Rossi favorites. With this particular topic, there's
- 2:13Speaker 3: nothing particularly new here.
- 2:16Speaker 2: What is new in.
- 2:17Speaker 3: The discussion of Malaysia twenty fifteen is who's won the
- 2:20Speaker 3: past two murder GP Grand Prix. Oh, yes, it's Mark Marquez.
- 2:23Speaker 3: So Mark for the first time in really since twenty
- 2:26Speaker 3: twenty one, when he won a couple of races when
- 2:28Speaker 3: he was still pretty beaten up, and really since twenty
- 2:30Speaker 3: nineteen when his last fully healthy season when he was
- 2:33Speaker 3: on the Honda. Mark's actually a legitimate threat to win
- 2:37Speaker 3: races again, and we've seen him get closer. In this
- 2:40Speaker 3: first year with Dicadi has been pretty prominent. He's been
- 2:42Speaker 3: up on podiums, but these past two Grand Prix he's won,
- 2:46Speaker 3: and I don't think he's He's mathematically in championship contention.
- 2:51Speaker 3: He needs a lot to go right. He's not probably
- 2:52Speaker 3: going to win the title this year. But Rossi is
- 2:55Speaker 3: going back into the past because of the future, and
- 2:58Speaker 3: the future is that he be Marquees, will be teammates
- 3:02Speaker 3: to Peco Banyaya Rossi protege on a factory Ducati in
- 3:06Speaker 3: the factory team for twenty twenty five. It's likely to
- 3:09Speaker 3: be the best bike on the grid and now we're
- 3:11Speaker 3: going to have this answer to You've got a six
- 3:13Speaker 3: time world champion coming in after one year getting his
- 3:16Speaker 3: feet wet on a twenty three Ducatti against a rider
- 3:19Speaker 3: who could be a three time consecutive Motor GP world
- 3:22Speaker 3: champion at the end of this season in Bannyaya. And
- 3:25Speaker 3: I don't know about you, but is there a little
- 3:26Speaker 3: paranoare here from Rossi in that maybe the star Rossi
- 3:30Speaker 3: protege is about to come up against a force of
- 3:33Speaker 3: nature that Marquees has won championships when he's not been
- 3:36Speaker 3: on the best bike in the past. If you put
- 3:38Speaker 3: him on the best bike, that's going to be super interesting.
- 3:42Speaker 3: But I thought the timing of all this, there's nothing
- 3:44Speaker 3: new in what Rossi said, and look, he answered a
- 3:47Speaker 3: question that he was asked, so that's completely fine. But
- 3:49Speaker 3: the timing of it was the curious thing for me
- 3:51Speaker 3: because Marques is going into the factory Ducati team to
- 3:55Speaker 3: try and win, which is something Rossi couldn't do for
- 3:57Speaker 3: those two years that he was there. And now granted
- 3:59Speaker 3: Ducatti was no we need the force then that it
- 4:01Speaker 3: is now he's going up against Valentino's star pupil from
- 4:05Speaker 3: the VR forty six Academy in Banyaya, and he's going
- 4:08Speaker 3: there with some momentum, So I didn't think that there
- 4:11Speaker 3: was anything new in what he said, but the timing
- 4:13Speaker 3: of it, particularly in between two Massano weekends. And what
- 4:16Speaker 3: about that reception that Marquees got on the podium after
- 4:19Speaker 3: Massano won. You trying to tell me that that's not
- 4:22Speaker 3: going to fire up the crowd to do something similar
- 4:24Speaker 3: this Sunday if Marquees is on the podium again, because
- 4:26Speaker 3: I think we know how that's.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Going to go, oh one hundred percent, and we know
- 4:29Speaker 2: that that feels the fire for Mark.
- 4:31Speaker 1: We know that he loves it.
- 4:32Speaker 2: But could this be Valentino just poking the bear, shall
- 4:36Speaker 2: we say? But also Valentino has been out of the
- 4:40Speaker 2: sport for so long as a racer, He's obviously still
- 4:44Speaker 2: huge part of Moto GP and Dawna loved to show
- 4:48Speaker 2: him on the broadcast how many all the time, and
- 4:52Speaker 2: you know, you still see the VR forty six merge,
- 4:55Speaker 2: You see that that fluror yellow forty six throughout the fans.
- 4:58Speaker 2: So we know that he's a big part of why
- 5:01Speaker 2: people do like Moto GP. But I just don't like
- 5:05Speaker 2: the fact when people are trying to turn people against
- 5:08Speaker 2: each other. I feel like there's no need for that,
- 5:10Speaker 2: especially if you're actually not racing anymore. Like you said,
- 5:13Speaker 2: it's been and Gorne. But Valentino's also had all these
- 5:16Speaker 2: feuds with Max Biaggi said a gym. And now in
- 5:19Speaker 2: the past, you know, and if we look at that
- 5:22Speaker 2: twenty fifteen season, so he can say that Mark Marquez.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Was trying to, I guess hurt his chances of winning.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But what about Andrea Ianoni who overtook overtake him A
- 5:35Speaker 2: Philip Island was that back in that year as well,
- 5:37Speaker 2: So why is he not all of.
- 5:39Speaker 1: A sudden coming into conversation.
- 5:41Speaker 3: It's interesting in that So to set the scene, they'd
- 5:45Speaker 3: had a couple of flashpoints during the start of the
- 5:47Speaker 3: year in twenty fifteen in Argentina, in Asen where they
- 5:50Speaker 3: had a couple of pretty contentious clashes in races. The
- 5:53Speaker 3: Australian Grand Prix of twenty fifteen is still one of
- 5:57Speaker 3: the best races in the history of the world championship,
- 5:59Speaker 3: absolutely all with Rossi marquees Lorenzo, so it was a
- 6:02Speaker 3: Rossi Lorenzo title fight. Marquez had crashed him many times
- 6:06Speaker 3: earlier in the season he was out of it, and
- 6:08Speaker 3: then you had that random Andrea Younoni weekend where he
- 6:12Speaker 3: was capable of actually running with those guys at the
- 6:14Speaker 3: front when he was going and remember that was the
- 6:16Speaker 3: famous race he had butted the seagull as well, if
- 6:18Speaker 3: you remember that vision from the Lookie Heights on the
- 6:20Speaker 3: first lap, but absolutely amazing brawl in that race. Rossi's
- 6:25Speaker 3: spin on the whole thing was that Marquees was playing
- 6:28Speaker 3: with him and playing with the field because he could
- 6:30Speaker 3: have gone one by ten seconds, and he was trying
- 6:32Speaker 3: to favor Jugey Lorenzo to win a world championship because
- 6:35Speaker 3: the Spaniards were teaming up against the Italians or something
- 6:38Speaker 3: or other. But it was always a really bizarre argument
- 6:41Speaker 3: to me for a couple of reasons, in that Marquez
- 6:44Speaker 3: won that Grand Prix, so if he was really helping
- 6:46Speaker 3: juge Lorenzo, he just took five points off him on
- 6:48Speaker 3: the last lap to go and win the Grand Prix.
- 6:51Speaker 3: So that didn't really stand up for me. And it
- 6:53Speaker 3: wasn't like Marquez and Lorenzo have been great mates because
- 6:56Speaker 3: they've had millions of flash points over their career. You
- 6:58Speaker 3: remember when Marques was at harath early on, and then
- 7:02Speaker 3: the other factor as well is that Rossie was off
- 7:04Speaker 3: the podium that day because andre Unoni overtook him on
- 7:08Speaker 3: the last lap. So absolutely amazing race. Kind of a
- 7:11Speaker 3: bizarre spin that Rossie put on it after Philip Island,
- 7:14Speaker 3: and then of course Malaysia was the next round and
- 7:17Speaker 3: we all knew what happened there. But you know when
- 7:19Speaker 3: you said that in your intro where you know Rossi
- 7:22Speaker 3: kicked or pushed Marquees off the bike, that is completely true,
- 7:25Speaker 3: and that Marquez was trying to mess up Rossi's race,
- 7:27Speaker 3: which is also completely true because of everything that had
- 7:29Speaker 3: happened during the season and then had built to a
- 7:31Speaker 3: boil at Philip Island. But the crazy part about this
- 7:34Speaker 3: is that I don't feel we've advanced the story along
- 7:36Speaker 3: because we could have had this conversation in November twenty
- 7:39Speaker 3: fifteen if we were doing a podcast there, which would
- 7:41Speaker 3: have been interesting. It's nothing's changed, but it's just the
- 7:45Speaker 3: timing of bringing this all up and the fact that
- 7:47Speaker 3: we're at Massano and Marquez is winning races again. That's
- 7:50Speaker 3: the curious part for me. What's interesting is I reckon
- 7:54Speaker 3: this puts Banyai in a really difficult position. And we're
- 7:57Speaker 3: just talking about this off air. Before banya was trying
- 8:00Speaker 3: this impossible needle. Now he's got to try and appease
- 8:03Speaker 3: his mentor and the guy who has helped him be
- 8:05Speaker 3: what he is in Motor GP and ROSSI. He's got
- 8:08Speaker 3: to keep the atmosphere in the Decady garage next year,
- 8:11Speaker 3: you know, safe and the way he wants it, because
- 8:13Speaker 3: we know he operates really well in that sort of environment.
- 8:16Speaker 3: And you don't need to fire Marquez up like you
- 8:18Speaker 3: were saying before, because the last thing you want to
- 8:20Speaker 3: do is poke the bear. We've seen what happens if
- 8:22Speaker 3: you poked the bear. Marquez wins. That's what happens. And
- 8:25Speaker 3: so it's a really difficult position for Bagnaia to be
- 8:29Speaker 3: in as much as anything else, because you know, he
- 8:31Speaker 3: came out and said when it was announced that Marquees
- 8:33Speaker 3: was going to be his teammate, he was quite frank
- 8:34Speaker 3: about it. He said it could be amazing or a disaster,
- 8:37Speaker 3: and he's completely right because it has the potential to
- 8:39Speaker 3: be one of those two extremes. But I think deep
- 8:42Speaker 3: down he'd like to control that on his terms, not
- 8:45Speaker 3: be answerable to something that happened well before he was
- 8:47Speaker 3: in Motor GP. So that's the tricky thing for me,
- 8:49Speaker 3: and that Rossi's comments might actually make it harder for
- 8:52Speaker 3: Bagnaya to succeed against this force of nature that's going
- 8:56Speaker 3: to be on the other side of the garage next year.
- 8:58Speaker 3: It's going to be awesome TV. We know that, and
- 9:00Speaker 3: it's going to be a fantastic fight because it's probably
- 9:02Speaker 3: still going to be the best bike in the field,
- 9:04Speaker 3: but it just adds another layer for Bannoa. It's going
- 9:06Speaker 3: to be hard enough as it is, and I think
- 9:08Speaker 3: it's just become a little bit harder, oh.
- 9:10Speaker 1: One hundred percent.
- 9:11Speaker 2: And just to add on to what you're saying, I
- 9:13Speaker 2: think for Peco, he also needs to trust in du
- 9:16Speaker 2: Canti because they've made this decision. It can't be in
- 9:19Speaker 2: the back of his mind thinking am I the second writer?
- 9:22Speaker 2: Or is Mark going to beat me? Or do I
- 9:24Speaker 2: need to keep Valentino happy? All these things that you said.
- 9:27Speaker 2: It's a lot of pressure on his shoulders already trying
- 9:32Speaker 2: to currently regain his World Championship status and take the
- 9:36Speaker 2: third title, and then next year trying to beat Mark
- 9:39Speaker 2: Marquez as well. That's a lot for a Moto GP
- 9:41Speaker 2: writer to handle, and you'd have.
- 9:43Speaker 3: To say a lot so far. He's actually handled the
- 9:46Speaker 3: challenges that have come to him in these past three
- 9:48Speaker 3: years really well. You remember, he was ninety one points
- 9:50Speaker 3: behind Fabio Guasurerara in twenty twenty two and came back
- 9:53Speaker 3: and won that championship. Last year's fight with Jorge Martin,
- 9:56Speaker 3: it was an intro to catty fight, but it was
- 9:57Speaker 3: clearly difficult, and you had Martin trying to prove that
- 10:02Speaker 3: he should have been the one on the sister bike
- 10:04Speaker 3: to Vanyara in Ae Bastianini. He felt jilted that he'd
- 10:07Speaker 3: been overlooked for twenty twenty three. So he've got all
- 10:09Speaker 3: this going on in the background. Banna has handled himself
- 10:12Speaker 3: really well in that regard, and you know, we've discussed
- 10:15Speaker 3: on this podcast numerous times. He's been so good this year.
- 10:18Speaker 3: When he's been good, He's already won as many races
- 10:20Speaker 3: this year as he won in his twenty two championship year,
- 10:23Speaker 3: and he's twenty three championship year. And if I was
- 10:25Speaker 3: a betting man, I'm still putting my money on him
- 10:27Speaker 3: for this season. I still think he'll win the title.
- 10:30Speaker 3: But man, it puts him under a lot of pressure
- 10:32Speaker 3: that he doesn't necessarily need to be on because, yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 3: he could be going into this new partnership next year
- 10:37Speaker 3: as a reigning three time world champion. That's not something
- 10:39Speaker 3: that many writers have done. And yet there's going to
- 10:42Speaker 3: be all these questions and all this discussion because of
- 10:44Speaker 3: the hornet's nest that's been stirred up again.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I guess the hard thing here, Matt is we do
- 10:49Speaker 2: see both sides of the story, and for us, we
- 10:52Speaker 2: do need to keep quite an open thought process about it.
- 10:56Speaker 2: We see Mark and where he's at now going through
- 10:59Speaker 2: the injury. Obviously, back to back wins with you, Caddie
- 11:02Speaker 2: for him is huge after what he's been through. But
- 11:05Speaker 2: also Valentino or Rossi, he is the legend, He's the
- 11:08Speaker 2: goat of Moto GP.
- 11:11Speaker 1: It's just so.
- 11:12Speaker 2: True he to be in a position where, like I
- 11:14Speaker 2: said earlier, Valentino, I feel like he's poking the bear.
- 11:17Speaker 1: But we don't want to see the crowd booing.
- 11:20Speaker 2: We don't want to see any negativity towards Mark Marquez.
- 11:23Speaker 2: But the rivalry because weird as it sounds, it's kind
- 11:26Speaker 2: of exciting because we don't really have it with anybody
- 11:28Speaker 2: else in the grid at the moment.
- 11:31Speaker 3: No, it does sort of hark back to just the
- 11:34Speaker 3: sheer presence that Rossie was for the majority of his
- 11:36Speaker 3: premier class career because he always had You mentioned Max
- 11:39Speaker 3: Biaggi and Sete Jibbinow and Casey Stoner. When Casey was there,
- 11:42Speaker 3: there was always an enemy for Valentino. It was great theater,
- 11:45Speaker 3: it was great TV. He was a brilliant writer, a
- 11:49Speaker 3: brilliant showman, absolutely fantastic for the global growth of the sport.
- 11:53Speaker 3: His impact is immeasurable, turning motor GP into what it
- 11:58Speaker 3: has over the course of his career. And then from
- 12:02Speaker 3: the marquers side, you look at what he did. He
- 12:05Speaker 3: redefined what we thought a young rider could do by
- 12:07Speaker 3: coming in and winning the world championship when he was
- 12:09Speaker 3: twenty years old. I think he's probably been more responsible
- 12:12Speaker 3: for changing the way motor GP bikes are ridden with
- 12:14Speaker 3: the way that he rides the bike on his elbow,
- 12:16Speaker 3: and we've seen the evolution of that over the years.
- 12:20Speaker 3: His ability to save crashes that other people would be
- 12:23Speaker 3: in the gravel trap with, and he's been a brilliant
- 12:25Speaker 3: champion for a long time. And then had this massive
- 12:27Speaker 3: career crossroads where he got injured and injured and injured,
- 12:31Speaker 3: and it completely changed the course of his career. So
- 12:33Speaker 3: you can acknowledge both sides of this argument have done
- 12:36Speaker 3: wonderful things for the sport. It's so polarizing. The Rossie
- 12:40Speaker 3: fans will hate the pro Marquees stuff, the Marques fans
- 12:42Speaker 3: will hate the pro Rossi stuff. It's just the way
- 12:44Speaker 3: that it goes. But from a journalistic perspective, generally we
- 12:49Speaker 3: cheer the story. What you cheer the narrative, because narrative
- 12:52Speaker 3: is interesting stories to tell, there's more depth in it.
- 12:55Speaker 3: You can bring a sense of inclusion to the fans
- 12:59Speaker 3: that are trying to understand how this all works. Generally speaking,
- 13:02Speaker 3: people in the press room, well they shouldn't if they're
- 13:04Speaker 3: actually being legitimate journalists. No one's taking sides here. The
- 13:07Speaker 3: only thing you should be cheering for is the actual story.
- 13:09Speaker 3: It's a big story. It's going to continue to be
- 13:11Speaker 3: a big story. And whatever happens with Marquees Bangnaia next year,
- 13:16Speaker 3: if Peko is able to see Mark Off in the
- 13:19Speaker 3: same team, on the same bike and win another title,
- 13:22Speaker 3: I think we will look back at his career at
- 13:24Speaker 3: the end of it really differently because he stared the
- 13:27Speaker 3: giant in the eye and beating him. If that's the case,
- 13:30Speaker 3: and then if Marquees is to go and complete this
- 13:32Speaker 3: amazing career redemption story by going to a factory that
- 13:36Speaker 3: he's not written for, forcing his way in there to
- 13:38Speaker 3: be fair, and then winning against the guy who's the
- 13:41Speaker 3: benchmark over the past three is that's also an amazing story.
- 13:44Speaker 3: So as far as I see it, Motor GP fans
- 13:46Speaker 3: can't lose with either outcome here because the narrative is fantastic.
- 13:50Speaker 3: The best bit is we get to sit back now
- 13:52Speaker 3: and rub our hands together and go, so how's this
- 13:54Speaker 3: going to play out? Because right now I couldn't tell you,
- 13:57Speaker 3: And that's the best bit.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Well, let's talk about Peko going into this weekend Mazano two.
- 14:02Speaker 2: From our previous pods, we know his home track is
- 14:05Speaker 2: super comfortable here and this weekend he's not necessarily coming
- 14:09Speaker 2: in injured like he was.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I say that air.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Quotes because we have no broken bones, but we know
- 14:14Speaker 2: there's some bruising and stuff. How do you think he's
- 14:17Speaker 2: going to go into this weekend? Do you think his
- 14:20Speaker 2: results last weekend? The weather was ify and after reading
- 14:26Speaker 2: what the weather's going to be like this weekend, it's
- 14:28Speaker 2: still going to be questionable. There's apparently insane rain in
- 14:31Speaker 2: Central Europe.
- 14:32Speaker 1: And stuff at the moment.
- 14:33Speaker 2: And I guess for Peco, is this a part where
- 14:38Speaker 2: he now needs to put his head down and just
- 14:40Speaker 2: focus on the racing to try and bag that secondry
- 14:44Speaker 2: third World Championship under his belt.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Is this the crucial time to do that?
- 14:48Speaker 3: This is a race where he needs to put a
- 14:51Speaker 3: marker in the ground for shore. By the way, I'm
- 14:52Speaker 3: just looking at the BBC's weather forecast for Bisano over
- 14:54Speaker 3: the weekend, one hundred to two hundred millimeters forecast a
- 14:57Speaker 3: Thursday in that region. So well boy, but look, this
- 15:01Speaker 3: is a big weekend for Banyai. He was able to
- 15:03Speaker 3: take second in the sprint and the Grand Prix at
- 15:05Speaker 3: Massano one, which was kind of a good save in
- 15:08Speaker 3: a lot of respects because he came to that race
- 15:09Speaker 3: pretty beaten up after the crash with Alex Marquez Aragon
- 15:14Speaker 3: the weekend before, which of course was all part of
- 15:16Speaker 3: the Rossi Marques conspiracy. Let's not go there. But it
- 15:20Speaker 3: was a good save for him because he was clearly
- 15:22Speaker 3: physically compromised, and it was made even better by the
- 15:24Speaker 3: fact that Jorge Martin hemorrhaged a whole heaper points in
- 15:28Speaker 3: the Grand Prix by that crazy flagged flag bike swap
- 15:31Speaker 3: that he decided to make that none of the other
- 15:33Speaker 3: front rothers bothered with. So Banya has seven points behind
- 15:36Speaker 3: the championship with seven rounds to go. He's still in
- 15:38Speaker 3: a pretty good position. But this is one of those
- 15:41Speaker 3: weekends where if the conditions are normal, and again using
- 15:45Speaker 3: your air quotes, if the conditions are normal and on
- 15:48Speaker 3: a normal weekend, I struggle to see anyone other than
- 15:52Speaker 3: perhaps one rider will get to laying a glove on
- 15:54Speaker 3: him at this particular track. But this is one where
- 15:57Speaker 3: he's expected to win, so he needs to convert on
- 15:59Speaker 3: this because there'll be other tracks as we go into
- 16:01Speaker 3: the flyways where Jorge Martin may be stronger, or maybe
- 16:04Speaker 3: it's someone outside of those top two who really shows
- 16:08Speaker 3: their hand on those weekends. This is a home round
- 16:10Speaker 3: you need to convert at home. It was a good
- 16:13Speaker 3: save for him last time, but he'll want more than
- 16:15Speaker 3: a couple of second places this time, and if the
- 16:18Speaker 3: Sunday race is dry, he's the guy that you would
- 16:22Speaker 3: expect to win, but he kind of needs to because Aragon,
- 16:26Speaker 3: whatever percentage fault you want to place on him for
- 16:28Speaker 3: that accent with Alex Marquerez, it was a big blow
- 16:31Speaker 3: because He've been on this enormous run. Martin's been unbelievably
- 16:35Speaker 3: consistent this year, which is not a sentence I can
- 16:37Speaker 3: believe that I'm saying after last year, but he's been
- 16:39Speaker 3: the consistent one. Peco can't afford to just chuck points
- 16:42Speaker 3: away and this is the one that he needs to get.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I think, well, let's touch on Martine because you wrote
- 16:47Speaker 2: a story earlier in the week for Fox Sports talking
- 16:49Speaker 2: about how this is johe Martin's last chance at possibly
- 16:54Speaker 2: taking a world title. We have this feeling that maybe
- 16:58Speaker 2: moving to a Prillier going to be able to do
- 17:01Speaker 2: that in the foreseable future, purely just because of where
- 17:03Speaker 2: a Prillia is this year. But you know, never say never.
- 17:07Speaker 2: How do you think Joe Martin is feeling going into
- 17:10Speaker 2: this weekend? Made that terrible mistake rolled the dice didn't
- 17:13Speaker 2: work out in his favor?
- 17:15Speaker 1: Is he coming back for redemption this weekend?
- 17:17Speaker 3: Very much so? And I think you don't often get
- 17:19Speaker 3: the chance within the same season to make up for
- 17:21Speaker 3: a huge mistake at the same track. You've normally got
- 17:23Speaker 3: to wait twelve months to undo something that you've done wrong.
- 17:25Speaker 3: So the fact that you know he put his hand
- 17:27Speaker 3: up admitted that he made a mistake, it didn't cost
- 17:29Speaker 3: him the championship lead because he had won the sprint
- 17:32Speaker 3: the previous day. That's the key part. So he still
- 17:34Speaker 3: has his nose in front. But having a redemptive story
- 17:38Speaker 3: so soon after making a big stuff up is good
- 17:40Speaker 3: for him. But I do think and I wasn't trying
- 17:43Speaker 3: to be sort of overly pessimistic in this story that
- 17:45Speaker 3: I'd written for Fox Sports, but you look at where
- 17:46Speaker 3: a Prillier is at the moment, and they're actually going
- 17:49Speaker 3: back was it probably has drop off over these last
- 17:51Speaker 3: couple of rounds has been pretty alarming. And as good
- 17:55Speaker 3: as Joge Martin is, I'm not sure that any rider
- 17:59Speaker 3: could go on and a Prillier next year. Banyaya, Mark Marquez, Martin,
- 18:03Speaker 3: none of these guys could go to a Prillier and
- 18:04Speaker 3: suddenly make it a championship winning bike next year. I
- 18:07Speaker 3: can't really see that happening. And so he had every
- 18:10Speaker 3: justification to leave to Caaddy. I mean that overlooked him
- 18:12Speaker 3: twice for the seat alongside Banyayra, and you can completely
- 18:16Speaker 3: understand why he's gone. But until we get that regulation
- 18:21Speaker 3: reset for twenty twenty seven, which is kind of an
- 18:24Speaker 3: open open book, we don't really know how that's going
- 18:26Speaker 3: to shake out yet because it's a big change to
- 18:28Speaker 3: the category. But we're looking at engine freezers and a
- 18:31Speaker 3: lot of rules staying in status for the next couple
- 18:34Speaker 3: of years. It's really hard to see how a Prillier
- 18:36Speaker 3: catches up given they're coming from so far back. So
- 18:39Speaker 3: I don't want to say it's his last chance to
- 18:42Speaker 3: win a world title, but it might be his best one.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Given that he's twenty six. It's going to take a
- 18:47Speaker 3: while at a Prillier. He needs to go in there
- 18:50Speaker 3: and really take control of that a Prillier project because
- 18:52Speaker 3: they've got virtually no continuity year on year. Only one
- 18:55Speaker 3: of their four riders is coming back between twenty four
- 18:57Speaker 3: and twenty five, in ral Fernandez, So it's his best chance.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Might not be his last chance, but man, look seven
- 19:03Speaker 3: point lead with seven rounds to go. He's in a
- 19:05Speaker 3: better position than he was last year because he's more
- 19:08Speaker 3: consistent this year, he's just not He's got to avoid
- 19:11Speaker 3: the own goals like Massano won, because I still can't
- 19:15Speaker 3: believe that he pulled in for a bike swap in
- 19:17Speaker 3: that race, given that with a position of advantage in
- 19:19Speaker 3: the championship, he was the person that needed just to
- 19:22Speaker 3: sit there and let everyone else overreact, and he was
- 19:24Speaker 3: the one that did the overreacting. So be interesting to
- 19:27Speaker 3: see if it rains on Sunday, because he'll be the
- 19:29Speaker 3: last guy that comes over a bike swap. This time,
- 19:30Speaker 3: he's going to wait for everyone else to do it.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I think this weekend will either see johe Martin just
- 19:36Speaker 2: get out the front like he did in the sprint,
- 19:37Speaker 2: or we'll just see him behind Peco the whole race
- 19:40Speaker 2: trying to figure out what he's going to do next.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to do what you do, and it's
- 19:45Speaker 3: not if you do that from a position of championship advantage,
- 19:48Speaker 3: then you just shadow the guy that's in front, and
- 19:50Speaker 3: if you finish one place behind him, there's still a
- 19:52Speaker 3: lot of championship to be played out. But I don't
- 19:54Speaker 3: think he's going to go the Hail Mary. If it
- 19:56Speaker 3: raiins this weekend, that's for sure.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Let's talk about someone who is always on the podium
- 20:01Speaker 2: at Mazzano Andeneia Bashanini.
- 20:05Speaker 1: How do we think he's going to go in to
- 20:07Speaker 1: this weekend?
- 20:08Speaker 3: Do you remember I mentioned before the other rider I
- 20:10Speaker 3: think they could win this weekend. I think it's an
- 20:12Speaker 3: Aya And you absolutely hit it on the head there.
- 20:14Speaker 3: He's raised four times in Modo GP. At Pasona, he's
- 20:17Speaker 3: four and four in terms of podiums and he was
- 20:19Speaker 3: putting a third string of Vincia Ducati on the podium
- 20:23Speaker 3: back in his rookie year in twenty twenty one. So
- 20:25Speaker 3: we know that he's literally from five minutes down the road.
- 20:28Speaker 3: There's no exaggeration. He is literally from five minutes down
- 20:30Speaker 3: the road to this circuit. It's very much his home track.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He's incredibly good here. He wouldn't say it was a gamble,
- 20:37Speaker 3: but he took a different tire option to the other
- 20:40Speaker 3: three front running guys in the last race and it
- 20:42Speaker 3: kind of bit him a little bit. But we know
- 20:44Speaker 3: how good he is Layton races and if it's not
- 20:47Speaker 3: Banyaira on the top step on Sunday, my money. And
- 20:50Speaker 3: it's easy for me to say this because I'm probably
- 20:52Speaker 3: not going to put any money on it, but my
- 20:54Speaker 3: money would be on Bastianini because he's so good around
- 20:56Speaker 3: there and he's worst. He's probably going to be on
- 20:59Speaker 3: the poe him because we know the bike's good and
- 21:01Speaker 3: we know how good he is there. But wouldn't surprise
- 21:03Speaker 3: me if he has one of those Silverston weekends where
- 21:05Speaker 3: if he qualifies in the top four, you know that
- 21:08Speaker 3: he's going to be there in the last five laps.
- 21:10Speaker 3: And look, it's got a great track record there, He's
- 21:13Speaker 3: on a very very good bike and he should be
- 21:14Speaker 3: pretty confident. So yeah, I think he's a genuine chance
- 21:17Speaker 3: to win this weekend.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Let's touch on qualifying real quick, because the last round
- 21:21Speaker 2: of Massano, Mark Marquez got that terrible qualifying where he
- 21:25Speaker 2: crashed and so it was p ninth on the grid.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I believe memory he wants yes.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yes, So I wanted to ask you, do you think
- 21:31Speaker 2: if Mark gets a better qualifying this weekend, he could
- 21:34Speaker 2: be in contention for a podium if it was a
- 21:38Speaker 2: dry race, not saying it's his magical mixed conditions. If
- 21:41Speaker 2: it's a dry race, Mark gets a good qualifying, say
- 21:44Speaker 2: front two rows, do you think he could be in
- 21:46Speaker 2: contention for a.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Podium, Yeah, very much so. I mean, I think that
- 21:49Speaker 3: was the understated story of Massano one, in that he
- 21:52Speaker 3: kind of got out of jail and crashed in qualifying,
- 21:54Speaker 3: started on the third row, the conditions came to him,
- 21:57Speaker 3: and as we know, when it's not quite wet or
- 21:59Speaker 3: not quite dry, he's in a completely different league. So again,
- 22:03Speaker 3: all eyes to the skies to see what's going on
- 22:05Speaker 3: with the weather forecast. And also I'm sure we're going
- 22:07Speaker 3: to touch on this. The earlier start on Sunday as well,
- 22:09Speaker 3: could be interesting before the weather comes in. But in
- 22:12Speaker 3: a normal dry weather race, if he wants to be
- 22:14Speaker 3: on the podium, he's got to be in those first
- 22:16Speaker 3: two rows, because I just don't think that GP twenty
- 22:19Speaker 3: three is good enough even in his hands in a
- 22:22Speaker 3: normal race for him to overcome a poor qualifying, So
- 22:25Speaker 3: Q two super important for him. Got away with it
- 22:28Speaker 3: last time because the conditions played in his favor. But
- 22:31Speaker 3: I did have to go back and look when I
- 22:32Speaker 3: was doing my preview for this that the last time
- 22:35Speaker 3: he won three races in a row. Trivia question for
- 22:37Speaker 3: everybody Thailand, Japan, Australia twenty and nineteen, so nearly tooking
- 22:43Speaker 3: five calendar years, So that's what's at stake this weekend,
- 22:46Speaker 3: and he'll need a lot of things to go right,
- 22:48Speaker 3: but it's certainly not be on the realms of possibility.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Before we move.
- 22:52Speaker 2: On to what you just mentioned before about the timing
- 22:54Speaker 2: change this weekend, I wanted to post you, could this
- 22:57Speaker 2: be Frankie Moore Buterdally's best chances at a Motor GP
- 23:01Speaker 2: podium this season? On the jew Caddie because it's his
- 23:04Speaker 2: home race. Obviously, he was on the sprint podium last
- 23:07Speaker 2: week and qualified on the front row as well. Could
- 23:12Speaker 2: this be his best chance at a podium this season?
- 23:14Speaker 3: Yeah? Absolutely. I stuck my neck out and said that
- 23:17Speaker 3: he'd be on the podium last time, and I was
- 23:19Speaker 3: sort of right because he was on the sprint podium
- 23:21Speaker 3: at least. But he's been so anonymous for most of
- 23:24Speaker 3: the rest of the season that you would never mention
- 23:26Speaker 3: this sentence except for the fact that it's at Massano.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Qualified really well last time, and we know he's particularly
- 23:32Speaker 3: good at this circuit. So if he's going to get
- 23:35Speaker 3: a podium this year, it's probably going to be here,
- 23:37Speaker 3: given the flyaways are coming up, and I don't expect
- 23:40Speaker 3: him to be anywhere near as prominent, but he's on
- 23:42Speaker 3: the right bike, he's on a track that he knows
- 23:44Speaker 3: extremely well and was about you. It was kind of nice,
- 23:47Speaker 3: like refreshing to see him back up there again because
- 23:50Speaker 3: it's been so long, and to add another rider into
- 23:53Speaker 3: this mix where you know that Peco is going to
- 23:55Speaker 3: be there, you know that Jorge Martin is going to
- 23:57Speaker 3: be there, and a bas Junini. Most of the time,
- 24:00Speaker 3: Mark Barcres, the same guys are kind of locking at
- 24:03Speaker 3: the podium. It was kind of nice to see Morbidelli
- 24:05Speaker 3: in there for a bit of a change. But if
- 24:07Speaker 3: it wasn't at Bizaro, I'd say no chance. But the
- 24:10Speaker 3: fact that it is, yeah, absolutely a very strong chance.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Isn't it crazy that we're saying, you know, obviously Peco, Martin,
- 24:17Speaker 2: Mark and Are they're the kind of guys who are
- 24:18Speaker 2: always on the podium. But like you said, you see Frankie,
- 24:20Speaker 2: you see Pedro Acosto on there, and it's exciting and
- 24:24Speaker 2: we're seeing these changes come through, and that's what's keeping
- 24:27Speaker 2: the championships so alive at the moment where it's not
- 24:29Speaker 2: just being run away by.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Peco or Johe MA team.
- 24:33Speaker 3: No, not at all. That was one of the disappointments.
- 24:34Speaker 3: I reckon Massano won and that Acosta was super feisty
- 24:38Speaker 3: in those first few laps and then he came off
- 24:40Speaker 3: I think Lat four and then obviously damaged bike. It rained.
- 24:43Speaker 3: He made the bike swap because he had nothing to lose,
- 24:45Speaker 3: But we never quite got to see how that race
- 24:48Speaker 3: would have played out for him because he looked like
- 24:51Speaker 3: he was on a bit of a charge there and
- 24:52Speaker 3: things are starting to get a little bit better after
- 24:55Speaker 3: that absolute disaster that was Austria for KTM. So yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 3: it wouldn't surprise me to see a up there because
- 25:00Speaker 3: we know he's going to be brave and yeah, him
- 25:03Speaker 3: against five to caddies, he doesn't care. He will take
- 25:05Speaker 3: them all on. So yeah, it be interesting to see
- 25:07Speaker 3: if he can convert on the speed because I don't
- 25:09Speaker 3: think the speed was in question last time, just a
- 25:12Speaker 3: little bit too fast he broke some bits and then
- 25:14Speaker 3: fell off, So perhaps a little bit of discretion in
- 25:17Speaker 3: the earlier lapse and we'll see what happens later in
- 25:19Speaker 3: the race.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Well, we posted on the Fox Motorsports socials saying that
- 25:23Speaker 2: Pedro in air quotes will want revenge at Mazano too,
- 25:26Speaker 2: and even his team are saying that, you know, he
- 25:29Speaker 2: had the speed, he had the confidence. Maybe a little
- 25:32Speaker 2: bit too much confidence when things got a bit iffy there.
- 25:35Speaker 2: But I think this weekend he's really going to try
- 25:38Speaker 2: learn from his mistakes. But he's got the speed. We'll
- 25:41Speaker 2: see him up the front and hopefully the other ktms
- 25:43Speaker 2: with Brad Binder and Jack Miller as well. But this
- 25:46Speaker 2: is a good segue into Jack Miller because we are
- 25:50Speaker 2: hoping at the time of recording this, nothing's been officially
- 25:53Speaker 2: announced that Jack will be moving over to my favorite team, Pramaha,
- 25:58Speaker 2: my favorite thing to say. So it is being said
- 26:01Speaker 2: that Pramak, who were sponsoring this event, they were going
- 26:04Speaker 2: to spread out their announcements. Last weekend we had Miguel
- 26:06Speaker 2: Olivera and hopefully Thursday at their team launch or press
- 26:11Speaker 2: press duties on Thursday, we will see Jack Miller officially
- 26:15Speaker 2: announce as the second writer at Pramak Yamaha for twenty
- 26:19Speaker 2: twenty five.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Matt, you're smiling away, go on.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Say it's just it's seriously, it's the world's worst kept secret.
- 26:25Speaker 3: This thing's has been bubbling around for a while. I
- 26:27Speaker 3: can see it completely from Promac's point of view, in
- 26:30Speaker 3: that why announce Olivera and Miller on the same weekend,
- 26:33Speaker 3: because all you're doing is getting one bite at the
- 26:35Speaker 3: publicity apple. You can spread it out over a couple
- 26:37Speaker 3: of weekends, two races at Massano, which is a team's
- 26:40Speaker 3: home track, and Pramak are sponsoring this particular race, the
- 26:43Speaker 3: Amelia Romania GP, so it makes sense to have held it.
- 26:47Speaker 3: But it'll get announced probably Thursday, Australian time, and people
- 26:52Speaker 3: will go, oh, yeah, I knew about this already because
- 26:54Speaker 3: it feels like we've been talking about.
- 26:55Speaker 1: It for weeks.
- 26:55Speaker 3: But what I'll be curious about is that the Olivera
- 26:59Speaker 3: deal is too, and I'll be curious to see what
- 27:01Speaker 3: Jack's deal is here because it makes sense to align
- 27:04Speaker 3: these contracts to the end of the regulation cycle that
- 27:07Speaker 3: we mentioned before, so we know Olivera is going to
- 27:09Speaker 3: be there while we're still racing on thousand cc bikes.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Will Jack's contract be equivalent or would they go for
- 27:16Speaker 3: like a one plus one or something else, because they're
- 27:19Speaker 3: clearly both being brought in because they're experienced and they
- 27:22Speaker 3: can help bring the whole Yamaha project out of the doldrums,
- 27:25Speaker 3: But are they going to value one of them more
- 27:28Speaker 3: than the other. So if Jack gets a deal that's
- 27:30Speaker 3: anything less than the deal that OLIVERA has got, we
- 27:33Speaker 3: know which of the two of them is going to
- 27:35Speaker 3: be on thinner ice, because you know they're both going
- 27:38Speaker 3: to be in their thirties next year. You're not going
- 27:40Speaker 3: to want to keep an older group of riders forever
- 27:43Speaker 3: because in some ways you'll be responsible for your own demise.
- 27:46Speaker 3: The better you make the bike, the more likely Yamahara
- 27:49Speaker 3: to put some young guy on it, and either Olivera
- 27:52Speaker 3: or Jack will be binned off, probably earlier than they
- 27:55Speaker 3: would like to, So be curious to see the length
- 27:57Speaker 3: of the Jack contract. But there's so many any arguments
- 28:01Speaker 3: for having an experienced crew with these two guys available
- 28:05Speaker 3: on that second team for Yamaha, because right now Yamaha
- 28:07Speaker 3: need data because I've only had two bikes for the
- 28:10Speaker 3: past couple of years, and they need people with experience
- 28:12Speaker 3: of other manufacturers, And between Miller and Olivera, they've written
- 28:16Speaker 3: for a free other manufacturer in the field, So it's
- 28:19Speaker 3: a good fit. It's a good confluence of timing. There'll
- 28:21Speaker 3: be plenty of debate as to whether Jack deserves to
- 28:25Speaker 3: stay in after how bad this year has been, and
- 28:27Speaker 3: we can you can sugarcoat Hervey you like, it's been
- 28:29Speaker 3: a really really poor year for Jack and he'll be
- 28:31Speaker 3: the first to admit that really he's not one. He's
- 28:34Speaker 3: not one to bss in these sorts of situations. He
- 28:37Speaker 3: knows that he would have liked it to have been better.
- 28:41Speaker 3: He's got an extension to his career because he feels
- 28:43Speaker 3: a job a job set that Yamaha need and also,
- 28:48Speaker 3: you know, having the Australian passports a little bit part
- 28:50Speaker 3: of that as well. But he's been given a lifeline.
- 28:53Speaker 3: It's a good lifeline because his input will be really
- 28:56Speaker 3: valued there and I'm very curious to see what he
- 29:00Speaker 3: makes of it.
- 29:01Speaker 2: I think from a fan perspective, Jack does bring a
- 29:04Speaker 2: different kind of audience, and especially the Australian audience who
- 29:07Speaker 2: love his I don't want to say Bogan, but you
- 29:11Speaker 2: know when he has the mullet and he has the
- 29:12Speaker 2: dirty mustache and people really like that and relate to
- 29:15Speaker 2: him because he is just so down to earth.
- 29:17Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking, down to earth he is.
- 29:20Speaker 3: I got to say, he's got to be in a
- 29:22Speaker 3: sport that's filled with a lot of characters that are
- 29:25Speaker 3: trying to pretend that they're nice guys when they might
- 29:27Speaker 3: not be. In a lot of respects. Jack is the
- 29:30Speaker 3: single most authentic guy you could come across because where's
- 29:34Speaker 3: he's hard on his sleeve, says what he thinks. Some
- 29:36Speaker 3: people don't like it, some people do like it. But
- 29:39Speaker 3: from a media point of view, Jack never ducks a
- 29:42Speaker 3: question even if the answer is uncomfortable for him. And
- 29:45Speaker 3: I think that's you know, and he's been like that
- 29:47Speaker 3: since he was in Motor III. He's never really changed.
- 29:51Speaker 3: It's just that the he's got a little bit older,
- 29:53Speaker 3: and you know, life has changed around him, but he's
- 29:55Speaker 3: still as authentic and blunt as he ever was. And
- 29:58Speaker 3: I think the sport can be a little bit for
- 30:00Speaker 3: Nila sometimes. And also when you're dealing with a lot
- 30:02Speaker 3: of guys where English might be a second or third language.
- 30:05Speaker 3: From the English language preys they love Jack. Where you
- 30:08Speaker 3: go to Jack with an open mic and say, hey, Jack,
- 30:10Speaker 3: what do you think about this? And he's going to
- 30:11Speaker 3: have an opinion. You might not like the opinion, and
- 30:13Speaker 3: some fans may or may not like what he has
- 30:15Speaker 3: to say, but he has one, and you know, like
- 30:18Speaker 3: I said, things can be a little bit vanilla. Sometimes
- 30:20Speaker 3: he's the extra flavor in the ice cream feruza for
- 30:24Speaker 3: all of us journalists. But we love talking to him.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I also love his Spanglish accent that had come out
- 30:30Speaker 2: as well. I think I'd always miss that if that
- 30:32Speaker 2: wasn't in Moto GP.
- 30:34Speaker 3: It's so funny. It was a couple of years ago
- 30:35Speaker 3: at Philip Island where Peco looked at him and said,
- 30:38Speaker 3: why do you speak differently when you're speaking to Australians
- 30:42Speaker 3: that when you're speaking to us in the box, Because
- 30:43Speaker 3: he's got these two various iterations of English. It's hilarious.
- 30:46Speaker 3: But yeah, he knows he's doing it. I think he
- 30:48Speaker 3: does it all purpose, but it is funny because he's
- 30:51Speaker 3: Peers though at two and Peco was bagging him about
- 30:53Speaker 3: it at the time.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Well, let's move on, because we touched on it briefly
- 30:57Speaker 2: that Moto GP has moved the schedule to an hour earlier,
- 31:03Speaker 2: so where the Grand Prix would normally be at three pm,
- 31:06Speaker 2: it is now at two pm.
- 31:08Speaker 1: And there's been a whole cluster of reasons as to why.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Some are saying it's because.
- 31:13Speaker 2: F one's on at Singapore at the same time, so
- 31:15Speaker 2: they've done that to separate it. I've also heard that
- 31:18Speaker 2: it's because Well Superbikes is on at Cremona, which is
- 31:22Speaker 2: just up the road, apparently in Italy, so they're trying
- 31:25Speaker 2: to separate it. Matt, what's your take on on this
- 31:28Speaker 2: timetable change?
- 31:30Speaker 3: A bit of both. I think you don't want to
- 31:32Speaker 3: direct clash with a Formula One event going back into
- 31:35Speaker 3: Europe if you possibly can, because the Singapore GP is
- 31:38Speaker 3: a night race, of course, but it goes back into
- 31:40Speaker 3: Europe at two pm on a Sunday, so you want
- 31:43Speaker 3: to try and avoid that wherever possible. And you have
- 31:46Speaker 3: to remember we're only here in Masano this weekend because
- 31:48Speaker 3: we were supposed to be in Kazakhstan and then we
- 31:50Speaker 3: were supposed to be in India, and now we're having
- 31:52Speaker 3: two races at the same track in a three week period.
- 31:55Speaker 3: But that extra hour, where it's going to be an
- 31:58Speaker 3: hour earlier, so nine pm Eastern for the Motor GP
- 32:01Speaker 3: race here in Australia, that extra hour is going to
- 32:03Speaker 3: be pretty critical because the following weekend, Motor GP is
- 32:07Speaker 3: in Malaysia at Mandalika, and logistically This has actually become
- 32:11Speaker 3: a really, really difficult turnaround now for Motor GP because
- 32:15Speaker 3: they were going to be coming from Kazakhstan or India
- 32:17Speaker 3: where it would have been easy to get all the
- 32:19Speaker 3: freight out. And you know, it's twelve thousand k's between
- 32:23Speaker 3: Massano and Mandaleka I was reading earlier this morning. It
- 32:25Speaker 3: doesn't sound like much, but the Indonesian circuit's quite remote,
- 32:29Speaker 3: and you've got to get the entire paddock packed up
- 32:32Speaker 3: and out of Messado on Sunday afternoon slash evening, so
- 32:37Speaker 3: you think about it. Motor GP race starts at one
- 32:39Speaker 3: pm local. Everyone they do the track, invasion of the podium,
- 32:42Speaker 3: everyone's out of there by three pm, and then there'll
- 32:44Speaker 3: be this race after the race where everyone's trying to
- 32:47Speaker 3: get things in packing crates. Because we're week one of
- 32:50Speaker 3: a three week triple header where we go Massano, Indonesia, Japan.
- 32:54Speaker 3: It's absolutely mad to try and get all this freight
- 32:57Speaker 3: around the world, three races in three weekends. So yeah,
- 33:00Speaker 3: that's part of it. But avoiding a direct clash with
- 33:03Speaker 3: the Cremona Superbikes as you mentioned, and also F one
- 33:06Speaker 3: in Singapore is part of it too. But certainly going
- 33:08Speaker 3: to make an early start for the Moto three boys
- 33:11Speaker 3: on Sunday morning in Italy. There might not be a
- 33:14Speaker 3: lot of track temperature for those guys, I would say, just.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Looking at the times, Yeah, sorry, I did get out
- 33:19Speaker 2: wrong earlier. So Moto three local time in Europe and Italy,
- 33:24Speaker 2: but too three go out at ten am, which is
- 33:26Speaker 2: kind of quite.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Early for those boys.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Moto GP warm ups on an eight forty am. That's
- 33:33Speaker 2: really early for Moto GP. But for those listening here
- 33:35Speaker 2: in Australia in AESD time, we've got Moto three on
- 33:39Speaker 2: at six pm, followed by Moto two at seven fifteen
- 33:43Speaker 2: and Moto GP on at a comfortable nine pm, which
- 33:47Speaker 2: I'm very much looking forward to not having to stay
- 33:50Speaker 2: up till all hours of the morning to watch Moto GP.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, it's a great time schedule for us. And
- 33:55Speaker 3: this is the part of the calendar that as an
- 33:57Speaker 3: Australian fan you love because we get afternoon races, you
- 34:00Speaker 3: get Indonesia, you get Japan obviously Australia coming up, and
- 34:03Speaker 3: then we've got Thailand and also Malaysia. So it goes
- 34:06Speaker 3: from being a trying to keep your eyes open late
- 34:09Speaker 3: on a Sunday Night Sport to being right in the
- 34:11Speaker 3: middle of the afternoon. It's almost like the Europeans have
- 34:13Speaker 3: it too easy for most of the rest of the year.
- 34:15Speaker 3: They have to get up, which is which always makes
- 34:17Speaker 3: me laugh because they complain about it so much. But
- 34:19Speaker 3: it's it's going to be fun for us. We've got
- 34:21Speaker 3: this great run of flyways coming up with Australia smack
- 34:24Speaker 3: bang in the middle of it.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Well, guys, you can catch all the action live and
- 34:28Speaker 2: add break free on Fox Sports and KO don't forget
- 34:32Speaker 2: to keep up with all the latest Moto GP news,
- 34:35Speaker 2: including that timetable change on our socials at Fox Motorsport
- 34:39Speaker 2: or via our website Fox sports dot Com, do au
- 34:42Speaker 2: Forward Slash Motorsport. But I think that pretty much pretty
- 34:47Speaker 2: much wraps up all our Motor GP talk for the
- 34:50Speaker 2: Mazzano too, Amelia Romana Grand Prix. But Matt Clayton and
- 34:54Speaker 2: myself Reneda Famulan, we're going to be back real soon
- 34:58Speaker 2: to talk more Moto GP Pittoc
