- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to KFI AM six forty the Bill Handles
- 0:04Speaker 1: show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Okay, I'm telling you that is metaphysical between a rock
- 0:16Speaker 2: and a hard place in geography, geology. That's what I meant.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I was thinking of geography, and I was thinking that
- 0:25Speaker 2: I have to go step by step in geography. Step
- 0:30Speaker 2: the steps, never mind.
- 0:34Speaker 3: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:39Speaker 3: Bill handle.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yep, Taco Tuesday, August fourth, which means rich Deborough at
- 0:48Speaker 2: eight o'clock. That's our normal Tuesday. And plenty of other news,
- 0:52Speaker 2: to say the least, following something that following up on
- 0:55Speaker 2: something I've been looking at for just a tremendous fine.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Also a story about smuggling gasoline into Mexico, and I've
- 1:05Speaker 2: got a personal story about that too that I want
- 1:08Speaker 2: to share with you that happened a few years ago.
- 1:10Speaker 2: In the meantime, let me say hello to everybody. Cono,
- 1:14Speaker 2: good morning, Good morning Bill. Nice, very oppressive, but it's a.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Nice flannel, brightly colored, bright blue and red.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's anybody would wear it. Well, lesbian, that's
- 1:32Speaker 2: a lesbian flannel, I'll tell you right now are you
- 1:35Speaker 2: wearing are you wearing stout shoes?
- 1:38Speaker 5: It's a style of flannel that lesbian twear.
- 1:43Speaker 2: That's correct. Every not every flannel, no, but it's it's
- 1:50Speaker 2: there are lesbian and non lesbian flannels. There are Lumberjacks flannels,
- 1:55Speaker 2: for example, I.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Would identify as a lesbian.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, Lumberjack plannels are. Well, now you have trans Lumberjack,
- 2:03Speaker 2: so none of that works. Good morning, Neil, don't come
- 2:07Speaker 2: to me after all that we started.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Good morning.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It didn't take long, did it.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Morning Amy, Good morning Bill.
- 2:16Speaker 2: There you go, Will Coles Driver, good morning, Good morning Bill.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And there is the lovely Ann. Good morning Anne.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Oh, good morning Bill.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah. How about them Padres?
- 2:26Speaker 5: Huh?
- 2:27Speaker 2: I don't even know how they're doing? Not good? Okay, Well,
- 2:31Speaker 2: they're also not willing to spend four hundred and eighty
- 2:33Speaker 2: six million dollars or two players either, so that's no
- 2:38Speaker 2: one comes close spending the kind of money that the
- 2:40Speaker 2: Dodgers are spending, and nobody at.
- 2:42Speaker 3: One point one billion in deferred money.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I just completely insanity. I just really insanity. Okay, what
- 2:51Speaker 2: else is going on? Let me think we've got some
- 2:54Speaker 2: political news talk about this morning? We have oh, some
- 2:59Speaker 2: car and Rance news. A little bit discrimination that I
- 3:02Speaker 2: want to share with you. And Neil and I are
- 3:06Speaker 2: going to be at the White House Restaurant on Sunday night,
- 3:10Speaker 2: August sixteenth for a special dinner. I'll tell you about
- 3:13Speaker 2: that a little bit later on. Okay, are you guys
- 3:16Speaker 2: ready to do it? Thank you? Yeah? Yes it Yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 2: what a great show. Okay, that is excitement on a
- 3:34Speaker 2: very high level. Even after all of their years, we
- 3:37Speaker 2: still get excited about doing the show just for you.
- 3:41Speaker 2: All right, let's do it. Time for handle on the news, Amy,
- 3:46Speaker 2: Neil and me. Oh by the way, Amy, yesterday you
- 3:49Speaker 2: were gone. Heather filled in for you. Can I ask
- 3:52Speaker 2: where you went?
- 3:53Speaker 3: I was up in a Passel roadbulls for the weekend.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Oh, visiting whom well got to hang out with one
- 4:01Speaker 2: of my best friends.
- 4:02Speaker 6: And another best friend came and flew down and we
- 4:04Speaker 6: went up and did a wine weekend.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't understand this best friend's business. I've never
- 4:09Speaker 2: quite gotten it. I really haven't.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 4:12Speaker 2: That's okay, now, I am I you know, I'm fine.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I'm fine alone, but fine.
- 4:19Speaker 4: You're wholly unlikable, sir, not Holly. They're all part completely
- 4:28Speaker 4: not as insanctified.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Okay, guys, let's do it handle on the news, Amy
- 4:34Speaker 2: neil me lead story. Well, here we go again. The
- 4:41Speaker 2: President is claiming that there are active cease fire talks.
- 4:45Speaker 2: He says that the Allies or the countries around the
- 4:51Speaker 2: Gulf Mid East are begging the United States not to attack.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It was gonna be the biggest attacks since World War Two,
- 4:59Speaker 2: and now he says we're talking. They really want to deal.
- 5:03Speaker 2: The problem is the people who disagree with him are
- 5:06Speaker 2: the Iranians themselves saying no, we're not talking. So you're
- 5:11Speaker 2: going to see what's going to happen. Well, he's he
- 5:14Speaker 2: held off. I think it's seven or eight times in
- 5:16Speaker 2: the last month, maybe longer or maybe more times where
- 5:20Speaker 2: the President said, yeah, we're going to attack tonight. Yep,
- 5:22Speaker 2: if they don't come to the table. Oh, they said
- 5:24Speaker 2: they're coming to the table. Oh I hear they're coming
- 5:26Speaker 2: to the table. I'm being told they're coming to the table.
- 5:29Speaker 2: They desperately want to deal in Iran. Every time says
- 5:32Speaker 2: you're dreaming. That's simply not true. Now, yesterday I was
- 5:38Speaker 2: I had a discussion with someone, and it's quite possible
- 5:41Speaker 2: that what's going on. Is that the president of Iran,
- 5:46Speaker 2: who doesn't have a whole lot of power, and coming
- 5:49Speaker 2: out of his office, maybe there are some talks that
- 5:53Speaker 2: are being talked about, but the IRCG, the Revolutionary Guard
- 5:57Speaker 2: who control Iran and it's terry are saying no, no.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I mean, the reality is that people that could cut
- 6:05Speaker 2: a deal are not cutting a deal. So here's the question,
- 6:10Speaker 2: not that they're going to be talks, because I think
- 6:12Speaker 2: they're not going to be talks, or if they are,
- 6:14Speaker 2: their audience are really smart, they're gonna drag on for
- 6:17Speaker 2: a very very long time. Does the president once again
- 6:21Speaker 2: say okay, you've got another two days and we're going
- 6:25Speaker 2: ahead and go and bomb Iran. He said that a
- 6:29Speaker 2: whole bunch of times. And then my question is why
- 6:34Speaker 2: the stock market reacts every single time president said we're
- 6:39Speaker 2: gonna bomb tonight. Okay, stock market reacts go south, We're
- 6:43Speaker 2: not gonna bomb tonight. Or I've decided I'm not gonna
- 6:46Speaker 2: bombm tonight. I'm going to hold off because peace talks
- 6:49Speaker 2: are coming out. Oh the market explodes, it goes straight
- 6:53Speaker 2: up by hundreds of points.
- 6:54Speaker 5: It's because the market is emotional, it is always been.
- 7:00Speaker 2: But let me. I agree, I have no problem with that.
- 7:03Speaker 2: But let me ask it some point, at some point,
- 7:06Speaker 2: when you call peace over and over again, does that
- 7:12Speaker 2: does that validity? Does that credibility just fall apart? Or
- 7:17Speaker 2: it's still solid as a.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Rock, you'd think, But everybody's in that mindset like gambling.
- 7:22Speaker 4: What if this is the time that I win big?
- 7:24Speaker 4: You know what if this is that that I miss it?
- 7:28Speaker 2: You know that that is a very good point. That's
- 7:32Speaker 2: a good point. And the market is you think the
- 7:34Speaker 2: market would react with a little bit of logic, but
- 7:38Speaker 2: it doesn't. Okay, the price of oil does the same thing.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Up down, it's kind of down again.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, of course. Oh the price is dropped right Why
- 7:49Speaker 2: because the president said that peace is at hand? And
- 7:54Speaker 2: when you okay, I just I don't understand. And the
- 7:57Speaker 2: stock market is at its near record highs because that
- 8:01Speaker 2: doesn't seem to affect everybody.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Wow, it must have had a really good day yesterday.
- 8:06Speaker 6: It's up at fifty three six.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Now that's exactly my point. Well, that's AI driven, that's
- 8:12Speaker 2: really what's driving it.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Okay, now it's at fifty three to nine.
- 8:15Speaker 6: Markets aren't actually open yet, but yeah, these are six
- 8:19Speaker 6: hundred and four points.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Unbelievable. Unbelievable.
- 8:22Speaker 6: It looks like the lights are going to stay on.
- 8:24Speaker 6: The Senate stopgap funding bill to avert a shutdown on
- 8:28Speaker 6: August or October first, has cleared its first procedural hurdle.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Look at this.
- 8:34Speaker 6: Senators voted eighty nine to four to advance the measure,
- 8:37Speaker 6: which would fund federal agencies through December eleventh at its
- 8:41Speaker 6: current levels, with some exceptions. Apparently Senate leaders need to
- 8:45Speaker 6: strike a bipartisan time agreement to fast track the measure
- 8:49Speaker 6: so they can do a final vote before the August recess.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no absolute issue with the President saying if
- 8:58Speaker 2: you don't do a im I'm going to veto the bill.
- 9:02Speaker 2: There's nothing at this point pending along those lines. So
- 9:05Speaker 2: when there's nothing there, then the Senate easily passes the
- 9:11Speaker 2: stop gap funding because nobody wants to shut down.
- 9:19Speaker 5: All right.
- 9:19Speaker 4: So we talked yesterday about Blanche and now having a
- 9:22Speaker 4: path to confirmation totally cleared his way.
- 9:26Speaker 5: However, Trump's tax audit.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Immunity it seems to be remaining in place or with
- 9:33Speaker 4: a couple of little modifications, So that sweeping audit immunity
- 9:38Speaker 4: plan that the President it's unprecedented, never heard anything like this.
- 9:45Speaker 4: His sons and the Trump organization remains in place, but
- 9:49Speaker 4: it seems that it would be only for back taxes,
- 9:53Speaker 4: nothing from here on out. And so there's still questions
- 9:59Speaker 4: says to what it would be and how it would
- 10:01Speaker 4: stay in place.
- 10:02Speaker 5: But at this point it's still in place.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks like it's going to pass because, well,
- 10:09Speaker 2: we believe that a president should be exempt from the law,
- 10:13Speaker 2: or at least the MAGA folks believe that. I don't
- 10:17Speaker 2: know how people are okay with they have to pay taxes.
- 10:22Speaker 2: The president can't be audited or his family or his
- 10:28Speaker 2: business ventures, that anything. Up to this point, he's free
- 10:32Speaker 2: and clear. He could evade taxes all he wants, or
- 10:37Speaker 2: could have evaded taxes all he wants. Man, I just again,
- 10:39Speaker 2: there's a lot of this. I just don't understand truly.
- 10:42Speaker 2: All right, let's do one more before we take a break.
- 10:45Speaker 6: She folded like an umbrella. President Trump publicly rebuked Janine Piro,
- 10:53Speaker 6: his US attorney for DC, because she dropped the Lincoln
- 10:57Speaker 6: Memorial reflecting pool vandal case. Justice Department submitted a court
- 11:03Speaker 6: filing on Friday to dismiss vandalism charges against the former
- 11:07Speaker 6: Olympian David Hearn. They say the Interior Department incorrectly attributed
- 11:12Speaker 6: damage to the pools lining to vandalism, and that evidence
- 11:15Speaker 6: showed contractor error and a botched installation were actually to blame.
- 11:20Speaker 6: Trump responded saying that Janine Piro choked, she made a mistake,
- 11:25Speaker 6: that he's very disappointed with her.
- 11:27Speaker 3: And she folded like an umbrella.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Yeah that does not do Yeah, that does not bode well.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Now the scuttle but is is she going to be
- 11:38Speaker 2: fired for this? And it's tough because the President took
- 11:41Speaker 2: this on as a personal affront the dropping of the case.
- 11:45Speaker 2: He still believes that vandalism took place, even though there
- 11:49Speaker 2: is zip evidence that it did. And Janine Pirol, you
- 11:52Speaker 2: remember that press conference. Hearn forcefully put his hands into
- 11:57Speaker 2: it in the water with both hands, and he was
- 12:01Speaker 2: belligerent when he was confronted by the park police. He
- 12:04Speaker 2: was rude. And I guess that's a federal crime too.
- 12:08Speaker 2: And now she realizes, well, we all knew that there
- 12:12Speaker 2: was no evidence whatsoever zero.
- 12:14Speaker 4: You know what's particularly trump esque and this is confusing.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Everything is on the same level. He talked about this
- 12:23Speaker 4: the same way he talks about Iran like he's always
- 12:27Speaker 4: so impassioned, using these descriptors about everything going on, the
- 12:32Speaker 4: violence of it all. You can't tell what's important or
- 12:35Speaker 4: what's not. Yeah, she is is on equal playing field Iran.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's actually a good point. And I guess what
- 12:44Speaker 2: she in retrospect, especially if she gets canned, what she
- 12:47Speaker 2: should have done is gone forward with a trial with
- 12:53Speaker 2: no evidence whatsoever, and let the judge tossed her out
- 12:57Speaker 2: with a scathing a pay onion. That way she would
- 13:01Speaker 2: have been off the hook, and she could say to
- 13:03Speaker 2: the president, Hey, I tried. It's a radical left wing
- 13:05Speaker 2: judge who somehow wants evidence. Mister president. I get that's
- 13:10Speaker 2: what I understand. That's a problem for you. But hey,
- 13:13Speaker 2: I tried my best. I tried.
- 13:15Speaker 5: It is going to be wished into the cornfield.
- 13:18Speaker 2: She certainly is, all right, Amy Weather, how hot is
- 13:22Speaker 2: hot today?
- 13:23Speaker 3: Well, it's going to be hot, but not as hot.
- 13:25Speaker 6: So we're looking for seventies at the coast, eighties for
- 13:28Speaker 6: the metro area's nineties for the inland areas. Could still
- 13:32Speaker 6: top one hundred in the Antelope Valley, and it's going
- 13:34Speaker 6: to be this way pretty much right on through the week.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Oh okay, well it's not bad, no hot, but not
- 13:39Speaker 2: a Schwitz uh yeah. But if you're in the valleys
- 13:42Speaker 2: and it's in the nineties, that's pretty warm. Granted it's
- 13:46Speaker 2: not one hundred and five one hundred and ten degrees,
- 13:48Speaker 2: which it can be, but okay, and I'll take it.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I'll take it. Moving on, more handle on the news
- 13:54Speaker 2: with Amy Neil and me.
- 13:57Speaker 4: More arson talk, and this time the Spokane area with
- 14:01Speaker 4: the wildfires there left a lot of residents just completely devastated. Now,
- 14:07Speaker 4: a thirty seven year old man was arrested just yesterday
- 14:10Speaker 4: for allegedly starting the largest of the three spoken Washington
- 14:15Speaker 4: area wildfires. Residents were I guess some had seen this
- 14:22Speaker 4: guy kneel down and either with a lighter or matches
- 14:27Speaker 4: start the fire the original fire. He was found to
- 14:32Speaker 4: have these waterproof or weatherproof matches on him and then
- 14:38Speaker 4: a buttane lighter as well, and apparently had a manslaughter
- 14:44Speaker 4: conviction as well. So he's booked on suspicion of first
- 14:48Speaker 4: degree arson.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah, now, a couple things. First of all, those two
- 14:52Speaker 2: items they don't look good to have on him, but
- 14:55Speaker 2: that's not enough to convict anybody, and the manslaughter charge
- 15:00Speaker 2: can't even be used in court to portray him as
- 15:04Speaker 2: an arsonist, so they have to have something else going on,
- 15:07Speaker 2: witness statements or something. But we'll find out more because
- 15:11Speaker 2: there has to be more.
- 15:15Speaker 6: More trouble for anyone who has cyclosporiasis. It's turned deadly now.
- 15:24Speaker 6: Two people in Michigan apparently have died tied to the outbreak.
- 15:28Speaker 6: The two had significant underlying health conditions that may have
- 15:34Speaker 6: been impacted by the cyclosporiasis, and also dehydration because of course,
- 15:39Speaker 6: you know, it's explosive diarrhea and it's hard to stay hydrated.
- 15:42Speaker 6: The infection is generally not life threatening. Eleven thousand cases
- 15:46Speaker 6: have been reported just in Michigan.
- 15:50Speaker 2: A lot, yeah, and the first death though, the victims
- 15:54Speaker 2: were head underlying medical issues, so it's that's you know,
- 15:59Speaker 2: I didn't know that, but even though thousands and thousands
- 16:01Speaker 2: of cases, this is usually not life threatening. Also, I
- 16:04Speaker 2: think they're changing their name too. It's no longer psychlosporiasis.
- 16:08Speaker 2: It is now lettuce in Taco Bell tacos assists. Seems
- 16:14Speaker 2: like that's where it came from. I'll tell you that,
- 16:17Speaker 2: let us all kill you every time got to stay
- 16:19Speaker 2: away from anything green. Ah, oh good, all right, it
- 16:25Speaker 2: didn't spill. Should I have I have a lid on
- 16:29Speaker 2: it because I do spill?
- 16:31Speaker 5: Okay, Actually no, it's good.
- 16:34Speaker 2: My insulated cup.
- 16:35Speaker 5: Okay, should be in an insulated room. All right. Trump
- 16:42Speaker 5: is coming to town. He knows when you are sleeping.
- 16:47Speaker 5: He knows when you're okay.
- 16:49Speaker 4: President Trump travels to Los Angeles. That's today, Amy, or
- 16:53Speaker 4: next Tuesday?
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yep, that's today.
- 16:54Speaker 5: That's what I thought.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Uh.
- 16:56Speaker 4: And he's going to Las Vegas as well on Wednesday,
- 16:59Speaker 4: part of a two day West Coast trip aimed at
- 17:02Speaker 4: highlighting his administration's economic record ahead of the midterm elections,
- 17:07Speaker 4: of course. And then he's going to beat the snot
- 17:11Speaker 4: out of Gavin News.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Oh, of course he is. Of course. I have a
- 17:15Speaker 2: couple of questions about this. First of all, he's going
- 17:18Speaker 2: to the Trump National Golf Club. Where is that?
- 17:21Speaker 3: You know, Rancho?
- 17:23Speaker 2: Okay, So you really want to go near that area
- 17:25Speaker 2: if you're driving, because there's nothing like gridlock around a
- 17:28Speaker 2: presidential visit. It's a complete pain in the ass. It's
- 17:32Speaker 2: just it's horrific. And then there is I mean, this
- 17:37Speaker 2: seems like it's clearly and purely simply a fundraising event,
- 17:42Speaker 2: which is a political event as opposed to a presidential event.
- 17:46Speaker 2: And that's if the air force charges anybody. And I
- 17:52Speaker 2: think the Republican National Committee is going to be paying
- 17:56Speaker 2: the air Force the government to fly the president out,
- 18:01Speaker 2: and of course all of his retinue retinue, is that right?
- 18:09Speaker 3: What's retinue?
- 18:10Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:11Speaker 5: That is like eyeball?
- 18:13Speaker 2: No, okay, anyway, so we will stop laughing, will you know?
- 18:21Speaker 2: I know what I'm talking about, and you should too.
- 18:25Speaker 3: A Dodger tribute to dad. This is very sweet.
- 18:29Speaker 6: Jake and romy Reiner throughout the ceremonial first pitches at
- 18:33Speaker 6: Dodgers Stadium over the weekend before they played the Red Sox.
- 18:37Speaker 6: This happened more than seven months after their parents, Rob
- 18:41Speaker 6: and Michelle Reiner were found dead at their home in Brentwood,
- 18:45Speaker 6: allegedly killed by one of their sons. Rob Reiner was
- 18:49Speaker 6: a huge Dodger fan, so Jake threw his pitch straight
- 18:53Speaker 6: down the middle to Dodgers outfielder Alex call romy Ell
- 18:58Speaker 6: pitch was a little high on outside, but her catcher,
- 19:01Speaker 6: Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas, had no trouble handling it so.
- 19:06Speaker 6: Jake Reiner had written on substack not two of long
- 19:11Speaker 6: ago that they went to a ton of games because again,
- 19:15Speaker 6: Dad was a huge Dodger fan. He says, I'll never
- 19:17Speaker 6: go to Dodger Stadium again without feeling my dad's presence
- 19:20Speaker 6: and hearing his voice. Tell me why shohe Otani should
- 19:23Speaker 6: never beat in the leadoff spot?
- 19:26Speaker 5: Sweet?
- 19:27Speaker 3: Very sweet, yes, but bettersweet too. You know, Yeah, this
- 19:31Speaker 3: didn't happen while dad was alive.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Oh, you know what, I'm sure they did. I'm sure
- 19:35Speaker 2: they went to all games together. I would think maybe not.
- 19:38Speaker 3: No, they went to a ton of games together.
- 19:39Speaker 6: I'm saying that they didn't get to throw out the
- 19:41Speaker 6: pitch the first pitch while dad was alive.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Ah sad story that moves closer to home. A twenty
- 19:48Speaker 4: three year old California woman was one of the three
- 19:50Speaker 4: people killed over the weekend in that shooting just outside
- 19:54Speaker 4: that brand new in and Out restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Company has confirmed this, so has the family. Sabrina Garabe,
- 20:04Speaker 4: forty four, confirms to the Times that Monday evening that
- 20:08Speaker 4: her daughter, Ashley Garabe, was an in and Out employee
- 20:13Speaker 4: and she was killed during the shooting. She has a
- 20:17Speaker 4: statement that was prepared. It's going to be released formally
- 20:21Speaker 4: through the In and Out company, but so she didn't
- 20:24Speaker 4: have any more comments.
- 20:25Speaker 5: But that's very, very sad it is.
- 20:27Speaker 2: And the guy comes up and starts shooting with a
- 20:31Speaker 2: sault weapon, salt type weapon, and there was some else
- 20:34Speaker 2: near there who had a weapon. There were two.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Yeah, there was a citizen, regular citizen who had a
- 20:42Speaker 4: concealed weapon and there was an off duty officer, I believe,
- 20:46Speaker 4: and they believe that those two people kept it from
- 20:49Speaker 4: being much much worse.
- 20:53Speaker 2: And the perpetrator ended up killing himself. They always get
- 20:58Speaker 2: the timing wrong. They don't care themselves for order.
- 21:01Speaker 6: Yeah, a setback for Jackie our big bear bald Eagle.
- 21:08Speaker 3: The OHI Raptor Center posted on social media that her
- 21:12Speaker 3: blood work brought some difficult news, and that is that
- 21:16Speaker 3: her PCV, which is her packed cell volume, has dropped
- 21:20Speaker 3: to thirteen percent. That means her anemia is getting worse
- 21:23Speaker 3: again and they still don't know why. So they're doing
- 21:26Speaker 3: more tests. They're still treating her and hoping to have
- 21:31Speaker 3: some sort of answers and still you know, hoping for
- 21:34Speaker 3: her recovery. So she can be released, but they.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Have a do they have video of her being attacked?
- 21:39Speaker 2: I know she was attacked by two other eagles. Yes, okay,
- 21:44Speaker 2: it's And I also read that even if she does
- 21:49Speaker 2: get better, she does survive this, she may not be
- 21:52Speaker 2: allowed to go back into the wild.
- 21:56Speaker 6: I haven't heard that yet. That's that's their goal is
- 21:58Speaker 6: to get her back, release her, but they still don't
- 22:01Speaker 6: know what's wrong with her.
- 22:02Speaker 3: So and it could be optimistically months before she's back
- 22:07Speaker 3: out in the wild if she improves.
- 22:11Speaker 5: All right, This next story is brought to you by
- 22:13Speaker 5: the word retinue.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Retinue a group of advisors, helpers, or assistants who travel
- 22:21Speaker 4: with and support an important person. Bill Bill trot us
- 22:25Speaker 4: a new word today, Well played, sir.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Thank you, mister handle. I'd not heard that word before.
- 22:31Speaker 2: It's a great word spelling b M I s SI
- 22:34Speaker 2: ss po ipp I u pp what I ppp Okay?
- 22:39Speaker 2: Then all right.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Long Beach plans to install eighteen speed cameras across the city.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Apparently they this is an.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Obvious effort to catch speeding drivers and all of that,
- 22:50Speaker 4: and they can cite cite them by mail. But city
- 22:55Speaker 4: officials were saying that speeding remains a leading factor in
- 22:59Speaker 4: fatal crashes there in The Long Beach recorded fifty three
- 23:03Speaker 4: traffic deaths in twenty twenty five, the highest number since
- 23:06Speaker 4: the nineteen nineties. And so they'll increase depending on the
- 23:11Speaker 4: speed eleven to fifteen miles over a per hour over
- 23:15Speaker 4: the limit, fifty dollars sixteen to twenty five miles over
- 23:18Speaker 4: one hundred twenty six miles or more two hundred and
- 23:23Speaker 4: one hundred miles per hour or more.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Five that's on top of the steam speed limit. So
- 23:30Speaker 2: if you figure street speed allowable street speed is usually
- 23:34Speaker 2: thirty five miles per hour on the streets. Do I
- 23:36Speaker 2: have that right? That's basically Yet the vast majority of
- 23:39Speaker 2: streets are thirty five miles per hour. So if you
- 23:42Speaker 2: go one hundred miles per hour or more over the
- 23:45Speaker 2: speed limit, now we're talking about one hundred and thirty
- 23:49Speaker 2: five miles per hour on the streets. I don't know
- 23:53Speaker 2: how long you can last at one hundred and thirty
- 23:56Speaker 2: five miles per hour on the street on surface streets,
- 23:58Speaker 2: but sure why not?
- 24:03Speaker 3: Something funky with the money.
- 24:06Speaker 6: So Capital one is saying that bank accounts held by
- 24:13Speaker 6: President Trump were closed by Capital One in twenty twenty one,
- 24:15Speaker 6: after it flagged financial activity that had characteristics of money laundering.
- 24:20Speaker 6: That's in a court filing from the weekend. The court
- 24:23Speaker 6: filing is tied to a lawsuit filed against Capital One
- 24:26Speaker 6: by one of Trump's financial holding companies. Trump alleges Capital
- 24:30Speaker 6: One illegally closed his accounts for political reasons following the
- 24:33Speaker 6: January sixth at tax on the US. Capital Capital One
- 24:37Speaker 6: wants the lawsuit dismissed. Trump sued Capital One and JP
- 24:41Speaker 6: Morgan Chase for allegedly dbanking him after he left office.
- 24:46Speaker 6: D banking is when a bank shuts down an account
- 24:49Speaker 6: because they believe they pose a financial, legal, or reputational
- 24:52Speaker 6: risk to the banks.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Okay, and he only wants five billion dollars for that?
- 24:57Speaker 2: You know you jump change, Yeah, it is change, yea.
- 25:02Speaker 2: And why not the original well, the lawsuit against the
- 25:05Speaker 2: irs was for fifteen billion dollars or ten billion dollars,
- 25:10Speaker 2: and of course the government cave. He sued himself, and
- 25:12Speaker 2: then he agreed, and he went, okay, I'll settle for
- 25:15Speaker 2: only this, thank you very much for settling the case.
- 25:20Speaker 2: And he's looking in the mirror as he says that.
- 25:22Speaker 2: So now he wants five billion dollars because JP Morgan
- 25:26Speaker 2: Chase just shut down an account. I wonder what happened
- 25:29Speaker 2: after that. Do they then say, would you please open
- 25:33Speaker 2: up an account? Do they automatically open an account with
- 25:36Speaker 2: the money that's in the account they shut down? Also,
- 25:42Speaker 2: how many other accounts did they shut down as a
- 25:45Speaker 2: result of that? The money laundering case and all of it.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Maybe it's a coincidence. Is it possible that it's a coincidence.
- 25:56Speaker 2: I don't know. And here's the problem. Whenever you know,
- 26:00Speaker 2: I talk about personal injury cases, you hear me do
- 26:03Speaker 2: those commercials for handling the law dot com. And whenever
- 26:07Speaker 2: anybody calls me during the on Saturdays and they say
- 26:13Speaker 2: I hit somebody and I'm being sued for five million
- 26:18Speaker 2: dollars and it's a fender bender, I say, don't be ridiculous,
- 26:23Speaker 2: or they're be ridiculous. You sue for astronomical amounts of
- 26:27Speaker 2: money that you don't get. I mean, yeah, you have
- 26:29Speaker 2: a two dollar injury. Of course you're going to sue
- 26:31Speaker 2: for a million dollars. That's just the way it works.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Those are ludicrous, that's just all the time. But those
- 26:37Speaker 2: are ludicrous demands except when you're the president of the
- 26:40Speaker 2: United States and Donald Trump, then you sue for five billion,
- 26:44Speaker 2: you sue for ten billion, maybe you sue for fifty
- 26:48Speaker 2: billion dollars. And when you have to settle with yourself,
- 26:52Speaker 2: you do pretty well. Okay, just wanted to point that out, all.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Right, So they're very I did.
- 27:00Speaker 4: They're in Los Angeles town now that the Metro has
- 27:04Speaker 4: experienced a fifty seven percent decrease in homelessness on its
- 27:09Speaker 4: transit system since twenty twenty four, two straight years of progress.
- 27:15Speaker 4: So officials say, I don't know if they just count
- 27:18Speaker 4: the lumps of poop, human feces.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Or I think it's actually people. It's actually people. I
- 27:24Speaker 2: guess that might be easier.
- 27:25Speaker 4: But so the twenty twenty six homeless count, led by
- 27:29Speaker 4: the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority in January, have showed
- 27:34Speaker 4: a thirty one percent decrease in homelessness on the transit
- 27:37Speaker 4: system compared to twenty twenty five. This year's count estimated
- 27:41Speaker 4: three hundred and ninety five to five hundred and seventeen
- 27:45Speaker 4: unhoused individuals on them at any given time.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think more yeah, per second. And it was
- 27:52Speaker 2: ironically enough. Mayor Karen Bass was she did the press
- 27:57Speaker 2: conference in the subway in Ghana talking about homeless in La.
- 28:02Speaker 5: Well, god forbid if we get anybody else but her.
- 28:06Speaker 6: Yeah, at this point, uh looking for a little help here.
- 28:12Speaker 6: US Central Command says we're looking for new, creative, unconventional
- 28:16Speaker 6: ways to pressure and punish Iran. That was in a
- 28:20Speaker 6: message sent out to a broad group of military analysts.
- 28:24Speaker 6: Military officials said it was unusual to have this kind
- 28:28Speaker 6: of message go out over email, and it's a sign
- 28:32Speaker 6: of the limited and potentially unpalatable options available to President
- 28:36Speaker 6: Trump to force Iran into a deal on his terms.
- 28:40Speaker 6: The official at SCENT Coom kicked off the brainstoring storming
- 28:43Speaker 6: session via email to see if anyone has a better idea,
- 28:48Speaker 6: and then a sent COOM spokesman said that Admiral Cooper
- 28:50Speaker 6: in particular reaches out to members of our great team,
- 28:54Speaker 6: regardless of rank, to achieve the highest levels of operational
- 28:57Speaker 6: performance possible.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Why have an idea? No more Iranians can work at
- 29:03Speaker 2: seven elevens, which would shut down seventy percent of the
- 29:07Speaker 2: seven elevens in this country.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Thing, that's a thing, Iranians.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Iranians, Yeah, Yeah, Iranians, it's a thing. A lot of Indians. Also,
- 29:23Speaker 2: many members of the Indian community. If you've ever seen,
- 29:27Speaker 2: you know, most cardiologists in southern California are Indian. For
- 29:30Speaker 2: some crazy ass reason. The vast majum, the vast majority
- 29:35Speaker 2: are cardiologists who work part time at seven elevens.
- 29:41Speaker 4: We can find that to be a legit piece of information.
- 29:45Speaker 2: That's a legit piece of information. Okay, I think we
- 29:48Speaker 2: have time for one more.
- 29:50Speaker 4: All right, So Elon Musk looking for trades people, and
- 29:54Speaker 4: he revived one of his very famous hiring tactics where
- 29:59Speaker 4: he gives them he says, just give me three bullet points.
- 30:03Speaker 5: What makes you write for this position?
- 30:05Speaker 4: And he said that he's looking said SpaceX is hiring
- 30:10Speaker 4: exceptional engineering and skilled trades talent to build and operate
- 30:15Speaker 4: the most powerful AI supercomputer cluster on and off Earth.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that's two points less than what he did during DOGE.
- 30:26Speaker 2: In order to keep your job, you have to give
- 30:28Speaker 2: me five points of why you should keep your job.
- 30:30Speaker 2: So now it's three points why I should hire you.
- 30:35Speaker 2: And of course you have to have the creds. I mean,
- 30:37Speaker 2: you've got to come in with the engineering background.
- 30:39Speaker 4: He wants me to demonstrate evidence of exceptional ability.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I have to tell you I have no problem with
- 30:45Speaker 2: this as a hiring tool. I really don't. And I've
- 30:49Speaker 2: never heard of this other than Elon must doing it.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I think it's kind of neat. I really do, all right, guys.
- 30:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean otherwise you've got a big wordy mess
- 30:58Speaker 4: of people.
- 31:00Speaker 2: You have a big wordy mess anyway. But here are
- 31:02Speaker 2: three points cut chase exactly. Okay, when we come back,
- 31:08Speaker 2: why the US is running solo on weapons ammunition material
- 31:14Speaker 2: And we'll be back with that. KFI AM six point forty.
- 31:18Speaker 2: You've been listening to The Bill Handle Show.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Catch My Show Monday through Friday six am to nine am,
- 31:23Speaker 1: and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app
