- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, and here are one leg of Blex Sports.
- 0:02Speaker 1: Before we get to Terminello's take, I just want to
- 0:04Speaker 1: wish happy birthday to my friend Kaylin, who major Yankee fan.
- 0:09Speaker 1: You probably shared the Yankee games all the time. It's
- 0:12Speaker 1: a happy birthday to her. Wanted to give her that
- 0:14Speaker 1: shout out. October fourteenth. A lot of libras I know
- 0:18Speaker 1: celebrating birthdays this month, which is which is pretty exciting.
- 0:21Speaker 1: But now, without further ado Terminello's take, All right, well,
- 0:26Speaker 1: here on one leg of Alex Sports. This time. We
- 0:29Speaker 1: did some news earlier today, but you know, we gotta
- 0:33Speaker 1: cover our sports. We gotta do Tourminello's take, because just
- 0:36Speaker 1: two days after the disastrous London game, Bye way, lou
- 0:41Speaker 1: that wait, is it a Jets curse in London two
- 0:43Speaker 1: years in a row? Of course, last year they fired Seila,
- 0:46Speaker 1: you know after the London trip. I don't know that's
- 0:48Speaker 1: gonna happen a first year head coach Aaron Glenn. However,
- 0:52Speaker 1: you're not happy with what the Jets head coach is,
- 0:55Speaker 1: how he's leading the team and now they're checked notes
- 0:59Speaker 1: oh in six, My goodness.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Alex, thank you for having me as always another Goode
- 1:06Speaker 2: another week, enjoying talking to you. I have watched a
- 1:11Speaker 2: lot of Jets football in my sixty plus years, and
- 1:15Speaker 2: I've seen terrible coaching, and I've seen terrible quarterback play.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But what I saw on Sunday was comical, as you know,
- 1:25Speaker 2: and we have you know, we have the audio evidence.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I didn't want a rookie head coach. Again, I didn't
- 1:33Speaker 2: want a defensive coach I wanted. I didn't want a
- 1:37Speaker 2: defensive veteran coach, but I wanted an offensive coach. I
- 1:42Speaker 2: know six games is too early to make a final
- 1:47Speaker 2: analyzation on the coach, but it looks like this coaching state,
- 1:51Speaker 2: led by Aaron Glenn, who was a terrific player for
- 1:54Speaker 2: the Jets, is not ready to be an NFL called coach.
- 1:58Speaker 2: He was clueless on Sunday.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I mean him running up and down the sideline. I've
- 2:03Speaker 1: got blockfield goal against Cleveland was was just not not
- 2:08Speaker 1: good enough. I mean, that was a fun moment, but
- 2:10Speaker 1: they lost the game anyway.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I just, well, again, you call it.
- 2:14Speaker 2: You want to have enthusiastic on enthusiasm on the sidelines,
- 2:17Speaker 2: but let's face it, the close of halftime was absolutely
- 2:24Speaker 2: embarrassing and Uh, Justin Fields, who hasn't been terrible up
- 2:29Speaker 2: until Sunday when he was amateurish and uh, I was
- 2:35Speaker 2: one of my Jets friends was texting me in the
- 2:39Speaker 2: first half and I texted them back saying, they really
- 2:43Speaker 2: have to sit them down and put Taylor in. Taylor
- 2:46Speaker 2: has a take charge personality and Field just is playing terribly.
- 2:54Speaker 2: The thing is, Alex Fields has no charisma. I mean
- 3:00Speaker 2: even if you see him in his postgame press conferences,
- 3:04Speaker 2: he has no pulse. He's not an NFL starting quarterback. Yes,
- 3:09Speaker 2: he's a terrific athlete, but that doesn't make him a quarterback.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Can he play in this league as a backup? Yes,
- 3:15Speaker 2: and we know that he was only here as a
- 3:18Speaker 2: stopgap for the Jets. He wasn't a going to be
- 3:22Speaker 2: there full time next decade quarterback. But what I saw
- 3:28Speaker 2: on Sunday or it was terrible. I mean, he is
- 3:32Speaker 2: not an NFL starter, and they made a mistake by
- 3:40Speaker 2: hiring in experience coach, general manager, offensive coordinator. You know,
- 3:51Speaker 2: Tanner Instrom did nothing to help Fields on Sunday. He
- 3:55Speaker 2: didn't roll him out, by the way, and you can't
- 3:58Speaker 2: play in the offensive line. You realize that the Jets
- 4:00Speaker 2: went on past on passing downs when they lead the
- 4:04Speaker 2: NFL in past protection and I didn't even notice that
- 4:07Speaker 2: existed until yesterday morning at three seconds, which is number
- 4:13Speaker 2: one in the NFL. But Alex, this was supposed to
- 4:21Speaker 2: be the year where they gave the fan base, the
- 4:25Speaker 2: tortured worldwide loyal Jet fan base, some hope, some confidence
- 4:33Speaker 2: because the roster isn't that bad and it's not the owner.
- 4:37Speaker 2: It's not the it's not Woody Johnson because from the
- 4:40Speaker 2: early seventies two thousand when the Jets were making the
- 4:44Speaker 2: playoffs sporadically like they've done for the last twenty five years,
- 4:47Speaker 2: not to the last eleven years. But Leon Hess was
- 4:52Speaker 2: the owner. So it's not the owner. And this roster
- 4:55Speaker 2: isn't that bad. They should, I mean, they should be
- 4:59Speaker 2: a a five or six win team, which means crap,
- 5:03Speaker 2: but at least it means something.
- 5:06Speaker 1: As you're talking about this roster, and of course I
- 5:08Speaker 1: think of two guys whose primes clearly being wasted, Garrett
- 5:12Speaker 1: Wilson and Sauce Gardner. I mean, those two are talented
- 5:16Speaker 1: and they're just not being utilized. Right. It just it
- 5:19Speaker 1: pisses me off to know those two guys. Primes are
- 5:22Speaker 1: in the situation right now, Louis, And you.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Make a good point.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And remember NFL primes are shorter than any other sport
- 5:31Speaker 2: because of the injury factor, the fact that it is
- 5:37Speaker 2: a rock them, sock them game, and uh, you lose
- 5:43Speaker 2: your you know, you lose your skills quickly, very quickly.
- 5:48Speaker 2: The roster isn't that bad, but you have to have
- 5:53Speaker 2: the quality quarterback, which they've never found, and you have
- 5:56Speaker 2: to have the quality coaching combination. Look at Drake May
- 6:00Speaker 2: with the Patriots. But again, this was supposed to be
- 6:03Speaker 2: a transition year for the Jets, giving the hope that
- 6:07Speaker 2: next year and the year after would be would be.
- 6:13Speaker 3: You know, an upswing to contention. But the arrow is
- 6:17Speaker 3: pointing down right now. It's so depressing. It's disappointing.
- 6:23Speaker 1: And you know, the scoring was almost the same as
- 6:25Speaker 1: it was against Denver last year. I mean, it was
- 6:28Speaker 1: that close and it came down to a couple of
- 6:31Speaker 1: points like it did last year. That's frustrating too, because
- 6:34Speaker 1: I think the Jets could be bone Nicks in another universe,
- 6:36Speaker 1: but they should be able to beat the guy.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Well here it is that bow Knicks had his second
- 6:43Speaker 2: straight bad game against the Jets, and the Jets still
- 6:45Speaker 2: lost both games. So the Jets recover fumble on the
- 6:50Speaker 2: first Denver series at the Denver twenty four. They were
- 6:55Speaker 2: they went so conservative. There was no aggressive offensive strategy
- 7:00Speaker 2: because they have no confidence in justin fields and Denver
- 7:03Speaker 2: stacked the box so you couldn't run on them. You know,
- 7:09Speaker 2: like I said, they did nothing to take the bull
- 7:12Speaker 2: by the horns. They recovered that fumble at the Denver
- 7:16Speaker 2: twenty four, they selled for a field goal. They played
- 7:19Speaker 2: to lose. Then they get the big kickoff after Denver
- 7:22Speaker 2: ties up at three to three to the thirty seven
- 7:25Speaker 2: of Denver, the same thing, nothing happened, and Folk kicked
- 7:30Speaker 2: a you know, a fifty three yard field goal. He
- 7:34Speaker 2: need to be benched at halftime. Maybe maybe you want
- 7:38Speaker 2: to give him the first series of the third quarter.
- 7:40Speaker 2: But again he's he's a bridge quarterback until a draft,
- 7:44Speaker 2: until this draft in twenty twenty six in April, where
- 7:48Speaker 2: the Jets will draft the quarterback in the first round.
- 7:52Speaker 2: But the offensive coordinator Tayloringstrom was an embarrassment on Sunday.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Aaron Glenn was an embarrassment on Sunday. Fields was an
- 8:02Speaker 2: embarrassment on Sunday, and uh, it's I mean, here I was.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Thinking that Fields just need a different system, is it?
- 8:10Speaker 1: Is he the problem? I mean, I don't know any well.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Again, he's not an NFL quarterback. He's not a championship
- 8:17Speaker 2: level close to a championship level NFL quarterback. And he's
- 8:21Speaker 2: been on three teams in five years. Mike Tomlin benched
- 8:27Speaker 2: him with a four and two record last year once
- 8:30Speaker 2: Russell Wilson, who obviously is on his last couple of
- 8:36Speaker 2: years if this is his last year, who knows. Last year,
- 8:40Speaker 2: as soon as Wilson guy healthy, he put Wilson back
- 8:42Speaker 2: in the game, back in as the starting quarterback in
- 8:44Speaker 2: bench fields. So field is not the answer. I mean
- 8:47Speaker 2: even you can even criticize the Jet for signing Fields,
- 8:52Speaker 2: even though it's only two years. They could have signed
- 8:56Speaker 2: Matt Jones for less as a stop gap.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And you mentioned Mac Jones. Let me, let me tell
- 9:03Speaker 1: you the experiment in San Francisco. It's been needed, right
- 9:07Speaker 1: because Perdy's not been one hundred percent, He's been injured
- 9:10Speaker 1: some of the season, and now Kittles goes down as well.
- 9:13Speaker 1: But you know, having Mac Jones there has been a
- 9:15Speaker 1: huge boost for San Francisco, I think without a doubt.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I mean, you have to have a serviceable backup quarterback
- 9:26Speaker 2: and Mac Jones has done that for San Francisco. He's
- 9:29Speaker 2: won three games for them already, and Alex, if he
- 9:34Speaker 2: wins one more game, he gets a four hundred thousand
- 9:38Speaker 2: dollars bonus this year. If he wins one more game
- 9:42Speaker 2: for San Francisco this year, now, I think Party might
- 9:44Speaker 2: play the next game, but I'm not so sure. But
- 9:49Speaker 2: you gotta have a guy like Mac Jones. He's is
- 9:51Speaker 2: he a Hall of Famer? No, but the Jets could
- 9:54Speaker 2: have used him, and they're much cheaper than a twenty
- 9:57Speaker 2: million that they're paying Fields. Fields was great in the
- 10:03Speaker 2: opener against Pittsburgh, a game the Jets should have won.
- 10:07Speaker 2: The football gods did not smile on them. They should
- 10:09Speaker 2: have won that game against Pittsburgh. And Field's probably played
- 10:12Speaker 2: his best game as a pro that day. But you know,
- 10:17Speaker 2: a long term, it's not it's not it's not happening.
- 10:20Speaker 2: It's just not happening. So we gotta But the thing
- 10:25Speaker 2: is he got. You gotta win a couple of games
- 10:27Speaker 2: because then the locker room, uh becomes split. You saw
- 10:34Speaker 2: what Garrett Wilson walking off with Aaron Glenn at the
- 10:37Speaker 2: end of the half saying what what are we doing?
- 10:40Speaker 2: What happened at the end of the half was terrible,
- 10:44Speaker 2: Letting the clock run out like that, not getting closer
- 10:47Speaker 2: for a field goal, not even getting throwing a hail
- 10:50Speaker 2: Mary at the end of the half where you might
- 10:52Speaker 2: get a defensive interference penalty.
- 10:56Speaker 3: It was just Sunday was as bad.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And like I said, I've seen many embarrassing Jet moments
- 11:02Speaker 2: and this was an embarrassment. If what he wasn't happy
- 11:07Speaker 2: last year in London because he has all his friends
- 11:11Speaker 2: in London from when he was the UK ambassador for
- 11:15Speaker 2: the United States Sunday, if I was Woody, I would
- 11:19Speaker 2: have put a bag over my head.
- 11:22Speaker 1: A Brown won at that, you know, you know what
- 11:25Speaker 1: the best weekend though, I mean the best weekend because
- 11:29Speaker 1: the division team's lost, including the Eagles to the Giants
- 11:33Speaker 1: in seventeen point passion and you know, full disclosure, we
- 11:36Speaker 1: actually talked before that game. I just couldn't get a
- 11:38Speaker 1: chance to post it. But you were worried about him
- 11:41Speaker 1: going into that game. But Scatterbo is the deal and
- 11:44Speaker 1: I knew it when they drafted him in April. He
- 11:48Speaker 1: was going to bring an energy to this team. They
- 11:50Speaker 1: haven't had it in a while. And I feel like
- 11:51Speaker 1: I've been proven right because he's he's bringing this energy.
- 11:53Speaker 1: He's got the backflip going, he's got the great runs going,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and we love Tyrone Tracy, but come on the with
- 12:00Speaker 1: tuning with him in Scannabo and the Wayte Cannibal can
- 12:02Speaker 1: also be a receiver and whatever it's it's working out.
- 12:05Speaker 1: The dart Scat era is here.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Louis Well, I don't know if we've had an era,
- 12:12Speaker 2: but yes, they have given what exactly what you said.
- 12:14Speaker 2: They have given the Giants energy. They've given the fan
- 12:18Speaker 2: base energy. It's charismatic, it's the players. The players feel it.
- 12:24Speaker 2: And that's the one thing Justin Fields does not do.
- 12:29Speaker 2: And I was I was surprised that the Giants scored
- 12:34Speaker 2: put thirty up to the thirty fourth spot on the Eagles,
- 12:37Speaker 2: and obviously the Eagles have some internal issues. Again, I
- 12:43Speaker 2: don't know if this is going to be like the
- 12:45Speaker 2: end of twenty three when they lost five out of
- 12:48Speaker 2: their last six and just fell apart. When they started
- 12:51Speaker 2: ten and one, lost five out of six and then
- 12:54Speaker 2: lost their first round playoff game. I don't know if
- 12:58Speaker 2: that happens, you'll see, uh a breakup of of this
- 13:02Speaker 2: of this Eagles team. But the Giants deserve to win
- 13:07Speaker 2: the Giants. The Giants were dominant.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but this, this breakup of the Eagle looks so
- 13:16Speaker 1: dramatic because you know, they just won the World super
- 13:20Speaker 1: Bowl last year. You wouldn't know it if you looked
- 13:22Speaker 1: at this team over the last few weeks and the
- 13:24Speaker 1: internal combustion as you're talking about. But yeah, the Giants
- 13:27Speaker 1: have hopes. Dable looks like the man for making the
- 13:31Speaker 1: quarterback change. To me, he looks like the coach right
- 13:33Speaker 1: now for making that change.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Well, I think I think that's a little strong. Uh.
- 13:39Speaker 2: You know, they have a winnable game Sunday in Denver,
- 13:43Speaker 2: and uh, you know they have some winnable games coming up.
- 13:46Speaker 2: And the league is very up and down. It's a
- 13:50Speaker 2: week to week league. As we said in the past. Uh,
- 13:54Speaker 2: Dallas has no defense and they have a terrific offense.
- 13:59Speaker 2: And you know, everybody wants to crap on Dak Prescott
- 14:03Speaker 2: year in and year out, year in and year out.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Dak Prescott. Prescott is a leader, He's a he's an
- 14:08Speaker 2: outstanding quarterback. I think he's one of the one of
- 14:12Speaker 2: the top quarterbacks in the NFL. I think he's right now,
- 14:15Speaker 2: he's the best quarterback in the NFC East by far.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And uh but Dallas is going nowhere because they can't
- 14:24Speaker 2: They couldn't stop me at you, Alex and uh so,
- 14:29Speaker 2: But yes, the loss, the three losses by the NFC
- 14:34Speaker 2: East teams bringing their division together makes makes it for
- 14:38Speaker 2: an interesting uh week coming up, no doubt about it,
- 14:42Speaker 2: and going to another division, not only the NFC East,
- 14:46Speaker 2: look at look at the the AFC East the last
- 14:48Speaker 2: two weeks. Uh We said it on his show before
- 14:56Speaker 2: Buffalo depends too much on Josh Allen and John down
- 15:00Speaker 2: was a little bit off last night. The rest of
- 15:02Speaker 2: the team's not that good, Alex. I'm not saying that
- 15:05Speaker 2: they can't win the Super Bowl because there's the injury
- 15:08Speaker 2: factor and uh so many other factors.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Okay, they're missing Diggs and also.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Well, Diggs's not don't forget about this, Alex. Diggs is
- 15:18Speaker 2: nothing they get. They're missing Digson's that's not that's not
- 15:22Speaker 2: I mean, Diggs has been great for New England, but
- 15:25Speaker 2: it's not affecting.
- 15:26Speaker 3: It's not affecting Buffalo.
- 15:27Speaker 2: What's affecting Buffalo is they they can't stop anybody. Matt
- 15:31Speaker 2: Mulano is injured. Again. He is the guy who is
- 15:35Speaker 2: the key guy for their defense and he has a
- 15:38Speaker 2: peck injury. And this guy is always injured because he
- 15:41Speaker 2: plays hard. But again Alex said, depending too much on
- 15:45Speaker 2: one guy. They're depending on on Josh Allen to take
- 15:52Speaker 2: care of all their ills, all the bumps in the
- 15:55Speaker 2: road that they have. Oh we got Josh Allen. That's
- 15:58Speaker 2: no good sometimes, and I think it's going to buy
- 16:03Speaker 2: them in a butt. I think New England might have
- 16:05Speaker 2: a chance to stay within the rest of the way.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Alex that, I mean, they beat him in Buffalo. That's amazing.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And you might think I'm controversial saying this. I think
- 16:17Speaker 1: we've seen the changing of the guard. And I know
- 16:19Speaker 1: it's too soon to say that, but come on, it
- 16:21Speaker 1: looks like the Patriots could win that n a f
- 16:24Speaker 1: C East.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I mean that's right, absolutely, target they can win. They
- 16:31Speaker 2: can't win the a FC East in a transition here
- 16:34Speaker 2: for them. So you are one hund correct?
- 16:37Speaker 1: Uh.
- 16:38Speaker 2: It looks like Drake May Yes, it's still early. It
- 16:41Speaker 2: looks like he is truly, truly the real deal.
- 16:45Speaker 1: As as they.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Say, the kid has a kid has a little cockiness
- 16:50Speaker 2: to him. He can throw on a run, he's a
- 16:53Speaker 2: good athlete, and uh, I agree with you. They can win.
- 16:59Speaker 2: They can they can incredibly, they can win this division.
- 17:03Speaker 1: You are right, And who'd have thought we'd say that
- 17:07Speaker 1: going into this year, especially because there's still the head
- 17:10Speaker 1: coaching is fairly new head coach and all that. But
- 17:13Speaker 1: we'll have to see. By the way, we have you
- 17:15Speaker 1: on early because we're doing a sort of semi pregame
- 17:17Speaker 1: show the Rangers playing against the Whalers, and I'm excited
- 17:20Speaker 1: for that because I think the Rangers can beat the
- 17:22Speaker 1: Oilers tonight based on what I saw Saturday, based on
- 17:26Speaker 1: the really hot start they've had the first couple of games. Hey,
- 17:31Speaker 1: if you can beat the contending Western Conference champion again,
- 17:36Speaker 1: that'd be cool. That'd be nice to beat them tonight.
- 17:39Speaker 1: We'll have to see what happens though, But yeah, well,
- 17:42Speaker 1: when Connor McDavid hits the ice in New York, absolutely.
- 17:45Speaker 2: And he's going to be here tonight, tomorrow night, and
- 17:48Speaker 2: I think Friday or Saturday. So the three team New
- 17:53Speaker 2: York New Jersey trip at these Western Conference teams make
- 17:59Speaker 2: for a first all Alex. Let's uh, let's uh see
- 18:03Speaker 2: if the Rangers score a.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Goal at home tonight.
- 18:05Speaker 2: They've played two games at home and they've been shot
- 18:08Speaker 2: out twice. But I think I think that I think
- 18:16Speaker 2: I think that'd be okay. Uh, this is an interesting
- 18:19Speaker 2: game tonight, no doubt.
- 18:22Speaker 1: And that opening night was weird, Louis, Like it was
- 18:24Speaker 1: just like, you know, Sullivan comes to the Rangers, plays
- 18:27Speaker 1: his first game against the Penguins, that loses, and it
- 18:29Speaker 1: was sort of anti climactic, uh the scoring anyway, But hey,
- 18:34Speaker 1: there's still uh quite a few games to go, and
- 18:36Speaker 1: I'm excited for tonight. And then and then you look
- 18:41Speaker 1: across the river and I know, I guess the Devil's
- 18:43Speaker 1: lost their season opener as well. But are you worried?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Is this is this team got its core healthy or
- 18:48Speaker 1: what's going on with the Devils? And of course they
- 18:51Speaker 1: won their last they won their last two games, h
- 18:55Speaker 1: Matt Schaffers.
- 18:56Speaker 2: And they haven't played a home game yet, so uh know,
- 19:00Speaker 2: they have their home opener against the against.
- 19:03Speaker 3: The I guess tomorrow night, and the w be okay.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I mean, the thing is this is their year the
- 19:12Speaker 2: pressure is on them, the pressures on management, pressure is
- 19:16Speaker 2: on a coach, Sheldon Keith. They got to make the
- 19:21Speaker 2: big jump this year. And U you know, Dawson Mercery
- 19:27Speaker 2: scored a couple of goals last night. The young you know, uh,
- 19:30Speaker 2: Tico Myers scored a goal. Tim Omyers scored a goal
- 19:33Speaker 2: last night for them on the road against a playoff
- 19:35Speaker 2: contending team in in a columbus Dale. You know, they'll
- 19:39Speaker 2: be batting for one of the fifth, sixth seven spots
- 19:44Speaker 2: in the Eastern Conference.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Uh.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I think the Devil's I think the Devils are gonna
- 19:49Speaker 2: get better as the season gets goes on. So I'm
- 19:53Speaker 2: not I'm not worried about the Devils right now, but
- 19:55Speaker 2: I still think there's gonna be a major in season
- 19:57Speaker 2: trade with the Devils.
- 19:59Speaker 3: I do.
- 20:00Speaker 1: We'll have to see what that all, right, LOUI, I
- 20:01Speaker 1: gotta ask you about Matt Schaffer scoring his first goal
- 20:04Speaker 1: and what your initial thoughts are of the number one
- 20:08Speaker 1: draft pick.
- 20:11Speaker 2: On Saturday night, a kid who's eight, who is eighteen
- 20:17Speaker 2: years old, thirty eighteen years thirty six days old, played
- 20:21Speaker 2: one of the most remarkable home openers.
- 20:25Speaker 3: That I've that I've seen.
- 20:28Speaker 2: His skating ability we know is fantastic. He had fourteen
- 20:33Speaker 2: shot attempts in games Saturay night, eight shots on goal.
- 20:36Speaker 2: He scored a goal where he was at the left
- 20:39Speaker 2: at the left point near the blue line, teared into
- 20:43Speaker 2: teared in in seconds and was able from a gold
- 20:47Speaker 2: mount scramble knocking into the Washington net. The Islanders have
- 20:51Speaker 2: not played well, but Matthew Schaeffer has and he's the
- 20:55Speaker 2: long range future for them. But he has a chance
- 21:00Speaker 2: to be a remarkable player. I know, it's only three games.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Saturday night he was the best player on the ice
- 21:05Speaker 2: for the Islanders and the Capitols. He was the best
- 21:10Speaker 2: player on the ice. It was a remarkable He played
- 21:14Speaker 2: a remarkable game. So the thing is the Islands have
- 21:18Speaker 2: to protect them. They play him twenty six minutes and
- 21:20Speaker 2: four seconds on Monday night, and excuse me on Saturday
- 21:25Speaker 2: night and twenty six minutes and thirty four seconds Monday
- 21:28Speaker 2: afternoon against the reigning President Trophy champion Minnesota, excuse me
- 21:36Speaker 2: whin the peg Jets And you know Jet the Jets
- 21:41Speaker 2: beat the pretty easily five to two. You knew that
- 21:44Speaker 2: the Islands we were in in that game. But on
- 21:46Speaker 2: the bad side, Alex the Islander defensive zone breakdowns not good.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Roman office had a terrible three games. They just haven't
- 22:02Speaker 2: come out of the shoot like they should. They have
- 22:05Speaker 2: picked up the pace they're they're playing a faster tempo,
- 22:10Speaker 2: but overall they're all in three And as I told
- 22:13Speaker 2: you last week, those first twenty twenty two games many
- 22:17Speaker 2: times propels you into a playoff spot. Now, I don't
- 22:20Speaker 2: think the All's gonna make the playoffs, but still they're
- 22:23Speaker 2: not a definite not not gonna make it, but they're
- 22:28Speaker 2: you know, they're a bubble team, so so so we
- 22:33Speaker 2: have to see it. If they can rebound, then again,
- 22:36Speaker 2: they're gonna play the Oilers next, and that's not easy.
- 22:41Speaker 2: And Soroken hasn't been as good as he was last
- 22:46Speaker 2: year so far. He letting a terrible goal against winning
- 22:49Speaker 2: Peg and Patrick wa has has worked cut out from then,
- 22:56Speaker 2: far from where he wants to be. But Matthew Schaefer, Yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 2: for one time, the sports gods did smile on the
- 23:04Speaker 2: Islanders because they were supposed to pick tenth and they
- 23:07Speaker 2: won the lottery and they drafted him first. And the
- 23:12Speaker 2: kid so far has been tremendous.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Well that that's you know, You're my eyes, Louis. I'm
- 23:20Speaker 1: so busy in the production to you half the time.
- 23:22Speaker 1: You're my eyes following all this, so thank you for
- 23:24Speaker 1: keeping it out dated. But I know that Schaeffer made
- 23:26Speaker 1: the goal because it's been almost not national news, but
- 23:29Speaker 1: definitely city wide. He had scored that first goal, so
- 23:34Speaker 1: it's exciting with that. But oh and three, you gotta
- 23:36Speaker 1: bounce back from that. And it reminds me you mentioned Bubble.
- 23:39Speaker 1: It reminds me to wrap up the NFL conversation before
- 23:41Speaker 1: we go to baseball. I said it on Thursday night.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I'll say it again here. Two and four does give
- 23:47Speaker 1: the Giants a chance compared to one in five, doesn't it.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I'm not delusional when I say that.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Right, you are not delusional. You were not delusional. Like
- 23:57Speaker 2: I said, they have. They have a winnable game in
- 24:01Speaker 2: Denver on Sunday. Denver is going to be coming back
- 24:04Speaker 2: from London. You know, sometimes teams rather can ask for
- 24:10Speaker 2: a buye. They haven't, and uh they'll be playing at home.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Denver is a tough place to play their offense. They're
- 24:19Speaker 2: not a great offensive team, they're a very good defensive team.
- 24:24Speaker 2: But it's a winnable game, it's definitely a winnable game
- 24:27Speaker 2: for the Giants. So if they get to three and four,
- 24:30Speaker 2: and then the next week is going to be really
- 24:31Speaker 2: interesting because they go down to Philadelphia, and if Philadelphia
- 24:35Speaker 2: doesn't show a little bit more of that grit that
- 24:39Speaker 2: they had last year when they won the championship and
- 24:43Speaker 2: really over the last for a long period of time,
- 24:46Speaker 2: over the last six seven years, then yeah, then, like
- 24:52Speaker 2: I said, you're not delusional, You are not delusional. You
- 24:55Speaker 2: want to be on the bubble. You want to you
- 24:57Speaker 2: want to be off the bubble. You want to be
- 24:58Speaker 2: well a the bubble. But if the Giants could be
- 25:02Speaker 2: on the bubble this year, that would be when you know,
- 25:04Speaker 2: that would be a positive season for them.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And you talk about another transitional year like we talked
- 25:09Speaker 1: about earlier. I mean that that'd be that be like
- 25:13Speaker 1: the Patriots, I should say, this would be ahead of
- 25:15Speaker 1: schedule for them if they were to make the playoffs
- 25:17Speaker 1: with this kind of core right now, So we'll have
- 25:20Speaker 1: to see a lot a lot of football to go,
- 25:22Speaker 1: a lot of red zone Sundays to go, and uh,
- 25:25Speaker 1: we'll have to see. Now, why did Bryce Terrain not
- 25:30Speaker 1: get hit last night? He should have just worn that baseball, Louis.
- 25:33Speaker 1: That would have tied the game.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Alex when I was watching, Uh, it's just instinct, that's
- 25:42Speaker 2: all it is. It's instinct. Obviously, if it was premeditated,
- 25:47Speaker 2: he would have gotten hit, but it was. It was
- 25:49Speaker 2: just instinct. It would have tied the game. Yet I
- 25:52Speaker 2: thought he was going to get a hit anyway, to
- 25:54Speaker 2: tell you the truth. But he did something that he
- 25:56Speaker 2: usually normally doesn't. He swung at a fastball that was
- 26:00Speaker 2: all four and it was up in his eyes. And uh,
- 26:03Speaker 2: that's more egregious than his instinct of not getting hit.
- 26:08Speaker 2: But yes, he should. He should have just stood still
- 26:11Speaker 2: and and tay and took that pitch on the leg.
- 26:15Speaker 2: But what could you do. He's a tremendous player and.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Hits him and throws it up above his head and
- 26:22Speaker 1: he swings and missus it. You know you can't.
- 26:24Speaker 2: That's terrible.
- 26:25Speaker 1: As they say, Well, i'll tell you, I think the
- 26:28Speaker 1: Brewers need to win tonight if they want a chance
- 26:30Speaker 1: to have something in La You cannot go down to
- 26:33Speaker 1: oh in Los Angeles. I just don't see that big
- 26:35Speaker 1: a feasible thing for the Brewers.
- 26:38Speaker 2: If they lose tonight, the series is over. They're probably
- 26:42Speaker 2: gonna lose four games to one if they lose tonight.
- 26:45Speaker 2: They gotta win tonight to make it a competitive series.
- 26:50Speaker 2: You know, they really had a chance to win last night.
- 26:53Speaker 2: But I'm one other thing about last night's game. A
- 26:57Speaker 2: Blake Snell only pitch eleven for the Dodgers this year,
- 27:01Speaker 2: and they gave him a ton of money. But I
- 27:03Speaker 2: don't think the Dodgers care about that. Obviously, don't care
- 27:05Speaker 2: about money. They have all these pitchers who didn't play
- 27:08Speaker 2: pitching the regular season, but they got them ready for
- 27:13Speaker 2: the playoffs. The closest to Zaki Blake Snell. So Snell
- 27:20Speaker 2: pitched brilliantly last night, retired the last seventeen Brewers, gave
- 27:25Speaker 2: up one hit through eight innings, was at one hundred
- 27:28Speaker 2: and two pitches. You mean Alex You mean he couldn't
- 27:33Speaker 2: go back out for the ninth and finished the game off.
- 27:36Speaker 2: They brought to Zaki in he didn't have it, and
- 27:40Speaker 2: then they had to bring in Blake Tried, who's had
- 27:43Speaker 2: a terrible year, but but survived and the and the
- 27:47Speaker 2: Dodgers got out of the game with a two to
- 27:53Speaker 2: one victory. But you you mean Blake Snell couldn't You
- 27:56Speaker 2: couldn't push him at this stage, at this time of
- 27:58Speaker 2: the year.
- 28:00Speaker 1: He was you can get it. But about flashbacks of
- 28:03Speaker 1: like five years ago against the Dodgers when Kevin Cash
- 28:05Speaker 1: pulled them too early. I'll never forget that movie either.
- 28:08Speaker 1: That really cost to raise that world.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Right that that's a very that's another a very good
- 28:14Speaker 2: uh recall. Uh yeah, on that one, he didn't want
- 28:18Speaker 2: to come out and uh Analympics, you know, told Kevin
- 28:23Speaker 2: Cash you got to you gotta take him out and
- 28:25Speaker 2: they blew the game.
- 28:27Speaker 1: So serious but anyway, Uh, and then you know last night, Uh,
- 28:34Speaker 1: I I wanted I I did say. I thought Jake
- 28:36Speaker 1: Bowers was getting that double as revenge for what the
- 28:39Speaker 1: Dodgers was former team, you know, because he's a former Yankee.
- 28:42Speaker 1: So that's why he hit that double with such tenacity. Also,
- 28:45Speaker 1: he's a ax.
- 28:47Speaker 2: You're thinking way too deep. He wasn't thinking about that
- 28:51Speaker 2: last night. I can tell you that when he hit
- 28:55Speaker 2: that ball. When he hit that I thought it was out.
- 28:59Speaker 1: By the way. I thought, you're a history guy, you know,
- 29:03Speaker 1: Blake's now made history like Don Larson did in nineteen
- 29:06Speaker 1: fifty six. That was the note of the night. I
- 29:09Speaker 1: saw on TBS. I don't know if you saw that stat,
- 29:12Speaker 1: but they said last two starts to face minimum through
- 29:15Speaker 1: eight and he is a postseason game, meaning minimum batters
- 29:19Speaker 1: Blake Snell and Don Larson. So there you go a
- 29:21Speaker 1: little history for you.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah, he was. He was a good company last night,
- 29:26Speaker 2: that's for sure.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I also want a reference how how I'm sure impactful
- 29:31Speaker 1: it is that Brian Anderson gets to call this game.
- 29:34Speaker 1: As you know, he's the Milwaukee Brewer play by play
- 29:36Speaker 1: guy through the season, and of course he's mourning you
- 29:40Speaker 1: like anybody else. So can you imagine that feeling of
- 29:43Speaker 1: calling Brewer playoff baseball on a national stage with you
- 29:46Speaker 1: grew in mind? It's gotta be emotional for him.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Well, the thing is, uh, you remember the last game
- 29:56Speaker 2: that you ever called before he passed away a.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Larger three run home runs?
- 30:00Speaker 2: Yes, it was. But the Brewers all year have kept
- 30:11Speaker 2: Uker front and center. I mean after they won the
- 30:14Speaker 2: division in the locker room celebration, Uh, they talked about Uker.
- 30:20Speaker 2: They honored Uker, that they dedicated the season to Yuker,
- 30:24Speaker 2: and they wanted when they won the division. So obviously
- 30:26Speaker 2: if they win the payment Uker will uh, well, we'll
- 30:30Speaker 2: get some shout outs and remembrances, and of course if
- 30:35Speaker 2: they win the World Series again. But I'll tell you
- 30:40Speaker 2: one thing, the Dodgers were just goofing all four year, Alex,
- 30:43Speaker 2: like we thought it's gonna be hard to beat them, Alex.
- 30:48Speaker 1: And you know that because like Game five last year,
- 30:53Speaker 1: I keep runing in that because I'll never forget how
- 30:55Speaker 1: Game four Roberts let everything go hang out loose if
- 30:59Speaker 1: you well, they didn't really into the bullpen changes the
- 31:01Speaker 1: Yanks won. Then Game five when he needed to be
- 31:04Speaker 1: locked down that offense, and yeah, the five running he sucked.
- 31:07Speaker 1: But also they didn't score after that few runout bursts
- 31:10Speaker 1: they had. But besides what last night, he locked down.
- 31:14Speaker 1: He's also Hoki was in trouble. We're not messing around.
- 31:16Speaker 1: He goes to try and go through his struggles, trying
- 31:19Speaker 1: gets the job done. I mean, he's a lockdown kind
- 31:22Speaker 1: of manager. Despite what people what to say about him,
- 31:24Speaker 1: I've seen that over the last couple of years.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Well, the one thing about him in the dugout, he's
- 31:28Speaker 2: very poised. He doesn't get rattled. He knows he has
- 31:32Speaker 2: a lot of weapons in his arsenal and he uses
- 31:34Speaker 2: them effectively. You know. Uh, I went up putting tried
- 31:40Speaker 2: in the previous series, you know, against Philly when he
- 31:45Speaker 2: got you know, I think he rolled the dice there
- 31:47Speaker 2: and he got a little uh, you know, cocky and
- 31:51Speaker 2: tried to get away with it, and uh. But the
- 31:54Speaker 2: Dodgers hold on the one to win that game in Philly.
- 31:57Speaker 2: But Alex he knows what he's doing and he's a
- 32:00Speaker 2: good manager, and he has so and he has just
- 32:05Speaker 2: so much talent on that team. And the great O'tani
- 32:09Speaker 2: has done nothing this postseason. He's done nothing, So if
- 32:13Speaker 2: he gets going the rest of the way, it's just
- 32:17Speaker 2: going to be another another piece of the Dodgers that
- 32:23Speaker 2: makes them so hard to beat.
- 32:25Speaker 1: And I know, I know when I'm supposed to like
- 32:27Speaker 1: opposing teams at BS, like I'm not supposed to like
- 32:29Speaker 1: Drake May as a quarterback, but I love what he's
- 32:31Speaker 1: doing with New England, revitalizing.
- 32:32Speaker 2: That that team.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I also like Freddie Frueman. Okay, I've respected him ever
- 32:37Speaker 1: since he won that World Series and before that with
- 32:39Speaker 1: the Braves. I mean, this guy, no matter how old
- 32:42Speaker 1: he's getting, can keep hitting in the big spots. It's amazing.
- 32:45Speaker 1: To watch.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Well again, she did it last night, you know, a
- 32:49Speaker 3: tight scoreless game.
- 32:50Speaker 2: He hits the home run in the sixth inning. But Alex,
- 32:54Speaker 2: you know what, Yeah, I'll never root for the Los
- 32:57Speaker 2: Angeles Dodgers or any of these teams. Like you and me,
- 33:02Speaker 2: we root for the teams that that we've rooted for
- 33:05Speaker 2: all our lives. But you can, you can admire other
- 33:09Speaker 2: players on other teams, like you just said, Freddie Freeman,
- 33:15Speaker 2: a young player like a Drake May. Guy's like that,
- 33:18Speaker 2: for sure, you know, without a doubt, there's so many
- 33:22Speaker 2: guys on Milwaukee.
- 33:23Speaker 3: You know that.
- 33:27Speaker 2: You would you know, you'd say, wow, this guy would
- 33:29Speaker 2: be good. I would love to have him on my team.
- 33:31Speaker 2: And uh, you know so that that's the by the way,
- 33:35Speaker 2: when baseball's played right, Alex, like we've seen these and
- 33:39Speaker 2: these playoffs have been good playoffs. There is no better game.
- 33:43Speaker 2: And we're sports of football, basketball, baseball, and hockey, and
- 33:49Speaker 2: we love them all. But when the game is played right,
- 33:52Speaker 2: when baseball's played right, even at fifteen inning game where
- 33:57Speaker 2: there was no give me, give.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Me Raleigh versus school ball every series, and I'll be
- 34:02Speaker 1: excited for that. Okay, that moment where he struck out
- 34:06Speaker 1: Rally cal Rawley, not just on a strikeout, he threw
- 34:10Speaker 1: it one hundred one miles an hour on pitch ninety
- 34:12Speaker 1: seven in the sixth inning to get Raleigh. That's Vinton's
- 34:17Speaker 1: postseason right there.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Well that way, that way I was. But again, I'm
- 34:21Speaker 2: going to say something else. I pitch ninety seven he
- 34:24Speaker 2: after six innings, and I like, shrue I do. He
- 34:29Speaker 2: pitched ninety nine pitches through six innings in a do
- 34:31Speaker 2: or die gang for the Detroit Tigers on the road.
- 34:35Speaker 2: He asked, ou are you kidding me? You couldn't go
- 34:38Speaker 2: another inning? You couldn't take it to one hundred and
- 34:40Speaker 2: twenty pitches or one hundred and twenty five pitches, I mean, game.
- 34:45Speaker 1: God, throw your arm out, kid like every you know.
- 34:50Speaker 2: But well, again, it's just ridiculous. Al Lighter, in the
- 34:56Speaker 2: Game five of the Subway Series, I at least threw
- 34:58Speaker 2: one hundred and forty two pitches into the ninth inning,
- 35:03Speaker 2: you know, So I know it's a different time.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Well, Al Laider through that complete game against Cincinnati, that
- 35:09Speaker 1: complete game shutout in nineties, right, and that's that moment
- 35:13Speaker 1: there too.
- 35:15Speaker 2: So that was there.
- 35:18Speaker 1: He had some good hitters he faced that that that
- 35:20Speaker 1: bog carge of that playoff game. But anyway, I get
- 35:23Speaker 1: your point. And then I really felt bad because Tommy
- 35:26Speaker 1: Canley I met last year at Woodbridge Burwy when he
- 35:29Speaker 1: was with the Yankees. Decent dude, really cool, got him
- 35:33Speaker 1: something of the situation against Seattle and couldn't get himself
- 35:35Speaker 1: out of it. Uh you know. And and so Seattle,
- 35:39Speaker 1: not phased by fifteen innings, goes into Toronto and for
- 35:42Speaker 1: two nights in a row, bombasted them. I was impressed
- 35:46Speaker 1: that they can recover so quickly and do what they
- 35:49Speaker 1: did in Toronto in two games like that.
- 35:52Speaker 2: So as I am, I really thought that the short
- 35:56Speaker 2: cut round was rellly in the series. Yeah, I hear,
- 36:03Speaker 2: I agree, but I think they have a better in
- 36:07Speaker 2: my opinion, they're better than Toronto. They have a better roster,
- 36:10Speaker 2: they have better pitching. And remember Brian Wu has been
- 36:13Speaker 2: injured the whole playoffs, so they haven't even used them yet.
- 36:16Speaker 2: And I don't know what is availability is if if
- 36:19Speaker 2: they continue on, but I like Seattle. I would love
- 36:25Speaker 2: to see if Seattle wins this series, if they knock
- 36:28Speaker 2: off the Dodgers, if they win their series, I would
- 36:31Speaker 2: love to see somebody beat the Dodgers. I'm not rooting
- 36:33Speaker 2: against them, but it would be I think it would
- 36:35Speaker 2: be good for baseball if somebody beat them.
- 36:39Speaker 1: You know, it would be good for baseball. If it
- 36:40Speaker 1: was up for grabs for the first time between the
- 36:43Speaker 1: Mariners and the Brewers, that would be something else, in
- 36:47Speaker 1: something quote unquote off the script. If you will, and Hill,
- 36:51Speaker 1: it would be.
- 36:52Speaker 2: It would be off the script. You're right, and Ali.
- 36:55Speaker 2: The Milwaukee Brewers started in Seattle as a Seattle pilots
- 37:00Speaker 2: in nineteen sixty nine, and then, believe it or not,
- 37:03Speaker 2: like two weeks into spring training of nineteen seventy they
- 37:08Speaker 2: moved to Milwaukee and they got that. They got that
- 37:11Speaker 2: going like in three weeks. That would be that would
- 37:17Speaker 2: be something. If it's just thees.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Well, I was always looking at Game three, four five,
- 37:25Speaker 1: Game five prices because look, I text a friend of mine,
- 37:28Speaker 1: I would love to be there in case there's history
- 37:31Speaker 1: of someone clinching. Then I looked at it, thirteen hundred dollars.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I'll just stay in my couch in New York and
- 37:36Speaker 1: enjoy it that way. Louisa Gays, let's FINACU want to
- 37:40Speaker 1: sponsor my trip out there?
- 37:41Speaker 2: I love Alex, but I'm going to say my couch too.
- 37:46Speaker 1: I want sponsored by trip out to Seattle or Milwaukee.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Let me know.
- 37:51Speaker 2: No, then these prices are crazy. I mean they really are.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Well yeah, but it'll it'll be fun to watch it unfold. Uh.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I just don't see Milwaukee going down too in a
- 38:10Speaker 1: home crowd like that. I cannot see that. Because they
- 38:14Speaker 1: played them competitively last night. It just there were a
- 38:17Speaker 1: couple of mistakes, I guess and whatnot. But I think
- 38:21Speaker 1: they can do it tonight. I got a feeling they're
- 38:23Speaker 1: gonna win tonight. I just I have a hunch.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Well, I would like to see them win tonight. I
- 38:27Speaker 2: would just make the series just more interesting.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I think if it gets the game seven, that'll a.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Little pressure on the Dodgers.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Oh and because well and Philly, you know, and I
- 38:43Speaker 1: have some thoughts on the Philly off season because I
- 38:45Speaker 1: followed them a little bit. I don't see how Rob
- 38:47Speaker 1: Thompson comes back. I know they faced the Dodgers, but
- 38:50Speaker 1: they need to regroup that whole team in Philadelphia. And
- 38:52Speaker 1: I know you're a met fancer, you don't want them
- 38:54Speaker 1: to be regrouped. But I think they're in disarray as
- 38:57Speaker 1: a Philly organization right now.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Well, I hope they stayed in the Surrey. But Rob
- 39:02Speaker 2: Thompson's coming back. He's coming back.
- 39:06Speaker 3: I think they've already announced it, but he's coming back.
- 39:11Speaker 1: I'll have to check that out. But you know, and
- 39:14Speaker 1: it looks like Boonie's saying too, because I've heard otherwise.
- 39:16Speaker 1: So hey, those first run exits sometimes in management's eyes,
- 39:21Speaker 1: don't really matter in the big picture. I guess I
- 39:24Speaker 1: don't know exactly, but I thought for sure Philly might
- 39:26Speaker 1: want to make a change, even though Thompson got him
- 39:29Speaker 1: there two three years ago already, which is hard to believe.
- 39:31Speaker 1: It's been three years since they got to the World Series.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, the thing is they then they had that
- 39:36Speaker 2: three to two lead against the Diamondbacks who played Texas
- 39:41Speaker 2: in the World Series, And they had a three to
- 39:43Speaker 2: two lead against the Diamondbacks that they had games six
- 39:46Speaker 2: and seven at home, and they blew Game six in
- 39:49Speaker 2: Game seven and they lost. They lost that Pennant. That
- 39:53Speaker 2: that one stung for the Phillies and their management.
- 39:58Speaker 1: All right, I want to go back to hockey. As
- 40:00Speaker 1: we're wrapping up this episode before I published asap. Is
- 40:05Speaker 1: the league doing enough to promote the hundredth anniversary of
- 40:08Speaker 1: the original six. I feel like the only the teams
- 40:10Speaker 1: are doing a great job at telling you it's the
- 40:13Speaker 1: hundred anniversary, like the Rangers. All the six teams are
- 40:16Speaker 1: doing a bit about job in the league itself. Would
- 40:18Speaker 1: would you concur Well.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Not all, Remember, not every team. This is not the
- 40:23Speaker 2: one hundredth anniversary for every team. It's one hundredth anniversary
- 40:27Speaker 2: for the Rangers and I don't know who else.
- 40:32Speaker 1: And Chicago also are at one hundred. Yeah, but.
- 40:38Speaker 2: You know, first of all, the original six that is
- 40:40Speaker 2: totally totally not It's really a dumb designation because there
- 40:47Speaker 2: was so many teams before the Originals, before the quote
- 40:50Speaker 2: unquote the six that were left, they've made the original six,
- 40:54Speaker 2: and the name should be different. It should be the
- 40:58Speaker 2: Iconic six or the historic six, because up until nineteen
- 41:05Speaker 2: forty two there was more than sixteams. And then there
- 41:08Speaker 2: was two teams in New York, the New York Americans,
- 41:12Speaker 2: and they changed their name to one year to the
- 41:14Speaker 2: Brooklyn Americans, even though they played in Madison Square guarding.
- 41:19Speaker 2: But when World War Two started they went out of business.
- 41:23Speaker 2: So from forty two to nineteen sixty seven when the
- 41:26Speaker 2: Great Expansion happened and they expanded from six to twelve.
- 41:31Speaker 2: That's that era of twenty five years, twenty six seasons.
- 41:36Speaker 2: That was the original six. But that makes no sense
- 41:40Speaker 2: because there were teams before that. There was teams in Pittsburgh,
- 41:43Speaker 2: in Philadelphia, in Saint Louis and Ottawa that all. Like
- 41:48Speaker 2: I said, there was two teams in New York. There
- 41:50Speaker 2: was two teams in Montreal. There was the Montreal Maroons
- 41:52Speaker 2: and the Montreal Canadians. The Montreal Maroons were around before
- 41:56Speaker 2: the Rangers and the Blackhawks. Six is really not not
- 42:02Speaker 2: the right designation for those six teams, but uh yeah,
- 42:09Speaker 2: I mean it's I think the league is, you know,
- 42:12Speaker 2: letting the teams do what they what they want to
- 42:14Speaker 2: do for the uh the anniversary, and I think the
- 42:17Speaker 2: Rangers are going to do a lot and Sam Rosan
- 42:19Speaker 2: is going to be a master's ceremony, so the fans
- 42:21Speaker 2: have to love that. Uh So, yeah, I think the
- 42:26Speaker 2: Rangers are gonna you know, I think as New Yorkers,
- 42:29Speaker 2: we're going to uh uh you know, we're gonna see
- 42:32Speaker 2: a lot of the old Rangers that we've grown u
- 42:36Speaker 2: up with through the years, and uh, unfortunately they've only
- 42:40Speaker 2: won one company in seventy three years.
- 42:43Speaker 3: So.
- 42:44Speaker 2: You know that's it. But I think the league is
- 42:46Speaker 2: doing enough, I do.
- 42:48Speaker 3: I think they're leaving it to the teams.
- 42:50Speaker 2: That's just my opinion.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Probably so well, we'll have to see. I know my
- 42:55Speaker 1: dad loved U the Blackhawks, and I see that they
- 42:58Speaker 1: won along with the Bears, so that was kind of
- 43:01Speaker 1: cool to see both them win and the Bears needing
- 43:04Speaker 1: that win last night for sure.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Yeah, they got a little lucky when Jade and Daniels
- 43:10Speaker 2: messed up that handoff, but they took advantage of it,
- 43:14Speaker 2: and that's what you gotta do. Good for the Bears
- 43:17Speaker 2: and Ben Jonson.
- 43:18Speaker 1: All right, lou Terminello Terminelo's take right before face off
- 43:22Speaker 1: at the Garden, Thanks for your thoughts on all things sports.
- 43:26Speaker 1: What do we leave off the table this week? What
- 43:27Speaker 1: did you want to cover?
- 43:29Speaker 2: Well, the only thing I'll leave you with this. Daniel
- 43:33Speaker 2: Jones is five and one, Aaron Rodgers is four and one,
- 43:39Speaker 2: and the sam Donold is four and.
- 43:41Speaker 3: Two as.
- 43:44Speaker 2: The New York teams. And we don't know about Jackson
- 43:47Speaker 2: Dart yet, but it looks like he might be might
- 43:49Speaker 2: be good We'll just discarded New York quarterbacks who are
- 43:54Speaker 2: thriving elsewhere, So just leave you. I'll leave you with that.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Well, Sam Darnold not only beat the Jacksonville, they trounced
- 44:03Speaker 1: the Jaguars on Sunday. That was pretty impressive. We'll have
- 44:07Speaker 1: to see where they go from there. And Daniel Jones,
- 44:10Speaker 1: of course, proving all the Giants need to give him
- 44:13Speaker 1: was an offensive line. That's the same issue every damn quarterback.
- 44:17Speaker 1: But what do we know, Louis.
- 44:20Speaker 2: We watched the games and get either frustrated or once
- 44:23Speaker 2: in a while we get joy, but as nothing but frustration.
- 44:32Speaker 1: While we're at it. I am happy that Dabel gave
- 44:35Speaker 1: Mahra the game ball. I mean, we all know he's
- 44:38Speaker 1: going through cancer. Treatments are just horrible, but I love
- 44:42Speaker 1: that Dable gave him the game ball. And maybe fans
- 44:45Speaker 1: will ease up on the guy. I mean the guy
- 44:48Speaker 1: the Mirrors are a legendary family in New York, so
- 44:52Speaker 1: maybe we ease up on him a little bit.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Alex the greatest investment of all time in nineteen twenty five.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I think it was either two hundred and fifty or
- 45:02Speaker 2: five hundred dollars to get into the National Football League,
- 45:06Speaker 2: and now the Giants are worth eight nine ten billion dollars.
- 45:11Speaker 3: That's a pretty good return.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Minority stake for ten billion dollars.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Actually, well yeah, and if they went up, if these
- 45:20Speaker 2: NFL teams went up forbid, they would they would be
- 45:23Speaker 2: over ten billion.
- 45:25Speaker 3: There you go.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Well, Louis, love you man. Thanks for another great terminal's
- 45:28Speaker 1: take and for taking this into the historical realm for
- 45:31Speaker 1: some of these things.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Tonight my pleasure, Alex, Thank you, lay the game and
- 45:37Speaker 2: uh talk you next week.
