- 0:51A, Hey, y'all, welcome today's show. I am still a bit
- 1:02horse, but probably fifty better than I was yesterday. And we'll just jump
- 1:07right in here. We're going to get into another super fascinating topic, the
- 1:11creation of the world, So buckle in and get ready for that one.
- 1:18Also, you may have noticed like this odd tapping background noise in yesterday's show.
- 1:23Figured out what it was, so hopefully I will repeat that. My
- 1:26voice not being as strong as usual, I was getting closer to the microphone
- 1:30and my knee was actually rubbing against the edge of the table, and I
- 1:36guess the microphone was picking that up through like the bass through vibrations, and
- 1:41it came out like some odd tapping noise, like somebody doing Morris Code or
- 1:45something. But we'll go ahead and start with radio replies. The person asked
- 1:53the priest worse posits I got were states this more of state but I cannot
- 2:00and the divinity of Christ? They answer, since God does not deny any
- 2:05man of really good will sufficient grace. The fault lies in your own will
- 2:09to how many priests would have the guts to say that to someone Today?
- 2:14God gives everyone sufficient grace of good will and if you can't believe, the
- 2:19fault lies within you. My word, we've I mean, I'm okay,
- 2:24You're okay. Generation really has done us some harm. They continue. You
- 2:30can believe if you wish. If you have not examined the evidence for his
- 2:34divinity, you can do so. Until you have done so. Your belief
- 2:38that He is not God is mere credulity. You should say, I have
- 2:42no opinion on the subject. I have not studied the evidence. When you
- 2:46have studied the evidence, you will have found at least three things. One,
- 2:50the documentary evidence concerning Christ is perfectly sound. Two Christ certainly claimed to
- 2:55be God. Three he certainly did things for which God God alone could be
- 3:00responsible. Whether after this you accept what Christ taught or reject it will be
- 3:06a matter of your own choice. Person says, then, men can believe
- 3:10or disbelieve in Christianity as they please, and they answer, you can,
- 3:16although they may not once it has been sufficiently brought to their notice. You
- 3:20see, Christ taught certain doctrines, but did not offer any intricate demonstration of
- 3:27their truth. He demands that we accept them as a tribute to his knowledge
- 3:30and veracity, and therefore he did not do more than merely tell us these
- 3:36truths. We are physically free to accept them because of our faith in him,
- 3:39his friendship, and the rewards he promised. To refuse to believe deserves
- 3:44punishment because it insults so good and wise a being as christ person says,
- 3:50I have studied Christianity. It is my honest opinion that it is not true.
- 3:53Yet you tell me that I am to believe that it is true.
- 3:58They answer, with the help of God's grace, not be refused. If
- 4:00you desire it, you are able to believe that it is true. A
- 4:04classification of possible states of minds and will clarify things for you. One After
- 4:09a due study of a certain proposition, a man might see that its truth
- 4:14is intrinsically evidence, as one knows, for example, that two and two
- 4:17make four by intrinsic analysis, the opposite is evidently false. They don't teach
- 4:23that in school anymore. Now two plus two can eatual five or three.
- 4:28Again. We got to get back to our basic, solid foundations. In
- 4:31this case, a man has not an opinion nor a belief. He has
- 4:35knowledge by intrinsic evidence that is not free to think differently. He does not
- 4:41merely inclined to think so like, are you a boy or a girl?
- 4:45Look down and see what's between your legs. Well, we don't go by
- 4:47intrinsic truth anymore, and that is by definition insane. We are now in
- 4:54insane culture. Two. Another state of mind, however, is that of
- 4:59wil ignorance. One who adverts to the fact that there is a certain problem
- 5:04can refuse to study it and freely choose to have no opinion about the subject.
- 5:10Three. Another stage is that of the wil for dealter, the wilfer
- 5:14willful delter. He studies the question to a certain extent. After thinking it,
- 5:19ever somewhat inadequately. Adequately, he says, I am not inclined to
- 5:25accept one position rather than another. I am in doubt about the whole matter.
- 5:29Such a man can choose to let it go at that, or can
- 5:31continue his investigation until he solves his doubts one way for another. Four.
- 5:38After due reflection, a man can come to the inclusion that there is intrinsic
- 5:43evidence neither for nor against a given doctrine. As far as he knows it
- 5:46could be true, it could be false, But he knows that some authoritative
- 5:50person has said it is true. There is nothing in the proposition itself to
- 5:55prevent his acceptance of it. All. This is a question of credentials of
- 5:59his inform He diverts his attention to the quality of his authority. He diverts
- 6:05his attention to the qualities of this authority. If he is satisfied that his
- 6:12authority must know and is truthful, he is free to adopt. He is
- 6:15free to accept the doctrine because of faith in his teacher, or he is
- 6:19free to disbelieve it on the score that it has not been intrinsically demonstrated to
- 6:25his personal satisfaction. Now you have studied Christian doctrine, seeking always intrinsic evidence
- 6:30of its truth, you have chosen to adopt the position that it will be
- 6:34false. Unless you find some such intrinsic evidence, you are quite unable to
- 6:40prove it intrinsically false. In the circumstances, you are perfectly free to divert
- 6:46your attention from the aspect you perceive. Study the credentials of Christ as a
- 6:51divine teacher, and, once convinced of their value, except the doctrine upon
- 6:58his authority. If you do not do so, it will be because you
- 7:00choose not to do so. And finally, in this chapter, the same
- 7:04person said, if God did not give me sufficient intelligence to be able to
- 7:09believe, surely no blame attaches to me. That is true if God failed
- 7:14to do so, but he did not. Your reason tells you that Christianity
- 7:17teaches certain mysterious things. You ask on what authority it so teaches. You
- 7:23are told that. You are told that Almighty God has revealed these doctrines at
- 7:29once. The fact these doctrines are extraordinary becomes no account. God must know
- 7:33and is certainly supremely truthful. The only point is did He reveal such doctrines?
- 7:40You are slow. You are shown that they are contained of the Bible,
- 7:44and that the Catholic Church teaches them. Your duty is to make sure
- 7:46that the Bible is of a liable source of information, and that the Catholic
- 7:50Churches an institution guaranteed by God as a safe and authentic teacher of men in
- 7:55religious matters. If these things have been reasonably verified, as they certainly can
- 8:00be, you are reasonably free to accept the doctrines thus guaranteed as being of
- 8:05God. Now, God has not failed to endow you a sufficient reason to
- 8:09do this. If you refuse to use your reason, or you misuse it,
- 8:13or if you refuse to believe all that you do not fully comprehend for
- 8:18yourself, despite your knowledge that God has revealed such doctrines, you are to
- 8:22blame. Remember that refuse to believe because reason does not entirely comprehend. The
- 8:26doctrine is to say that human reason is the ultimate test of all truth that
- 8:33is not true when human reason cannot demonstrate to his own satisfaction. In the
- 8:37light of the obvious limitation of human reason and the history of human aberrations in
- 8:43thought, this is clearly in a rational position. The conclusion remains that Christ
- 8:48justified his claims to be the divinely sent teacher of men, that he sent
- 8:52his apostles and their legitimate successors to teach all nations, that he thereby laid
- 8:58upon all nations the obligation of being taught, and that once his teaching has
- 9:03been sufficiently put before them, men are guilty if they presume to reject it.
- 9:07In the case of such men, acceptance of the Christian religion is necessary
- 9:11if they are to be saved. That brings me to an unpleasant topic.
- 9:22You may remember a last in yesterday's show, I mentioned that a friend of
- 9:24mine had passed away, and I asked for prayers for the repose of her
- 9:28soul. Oh, so put that on Twitter, and oh the response has
- 9:33been overwhelming. I mean, hundreds of people that I don't even know have
- 9:37offered up prayers for Pam and very much appreciated. But of course we get
- 9:41a couple of Protestants and one of them said, I mean, just blatantly,
- 9:46with all the anti Catholic, seething bigotry, they could that prayers for
- 9:50the dead are Unchristian and will do no good and are blasphemous and all that.
- 9:56That's exactly the problem with what the priests were just saying. One if
- 10:01this person, this Protestant, had a real and complete Bible, the Bible
- 10:07all Christians used for fifteen hundred years, the one you know, partially written
- 10:13by the Apostles and compiled by the Apostles and their immediate successors, they would
- 10:20have such books as the Book of Maccabees, in which it says that it's
- 10:26good to pray for the dead. But early Protestants, I think Martin Luther
- 10:31was the one that did this. It could have been one of his successors
- 10:35cut that book out of the Bible because it disagreed with their opinion. Well,
- 10:39this person says that, you know, the Bible says that you know
- 10:43wants you to die the decisions made, there's no salvation after that. Actually,
- 10:48no, no, the Bible doesn't say that. Your false Bible says
- 10:52that. Your fake Bible, the Bible with Martin Luther changed the words of
- 10:56Jesus to match his own false doctrine and cut out whole books of the Bible
- 11:01that he didn't agree with. And actually, your false Bible doesn't even say
- 11:05that. That's Protestant doctrine that isn't grounded in biblical teaching. There's nothing in
- 11:11the Bible that says that whatsoever, not a single thing. Meanwhile, not
- 11:18only does a real Bible say that we should pray for the dead, but
- 11:24the Church that God gave his authority has constantly taught for over two thousand years
- 11:33that Christians have a duty to pray for the dead and the reality of purgatory,
- 11:37and that the decision is not made at the blink of an eye.
- 11:39At the moment you die, you will most likely have to spend some time
- 11:46in purgatory. You don't immediately just go to heaven or Hell. I mean,
- 11:52if you're a Satan worshiper, you probably do. You know, if
- 11:54you're a saint, you probably do. So. If you're like decidedly in
- 11:58one camp or the other, probably do. But for the ninety nine percent
- 12:01of us in the middle that are neither as good as we should be as
- 12:07Christians, nor purely evil or absolutely rejecting of God, we'll get to spend
- 12:16some time in purgatory, and the prayers of the Church militant, the Church
- 12:22on Earth, the Living united with the Church triumphant, the Church in Earth
- 12:28in Heaven, I mean Church in Heaven are very efficacious for the soul's in
- 12:35purgatory. You know, you can, honestly you can believe that because one
- 12:43the Bible says it, and two the Church, the only legitimate Christian church,
- 12:48teaches it. If you choose to believe the false doctrines of Protestantism,
- 12:56most of which are you know, only about fifty years old. I mean,
- 13:01yeah, you'll say. The foundational doctrines were with Martin Luther and they
- 13:05influenced the Anglican Church. Sure, Martin Luther actually prayed to the Blessed Virgin
- 13:13Mary. He had a great respect and veneration for the Mother of God.
- 13:18Does your Baptist church do that? No, your Baptist Church rejects actually one
- 13:24of the main tenants of Lutheran Protestantism, and so it is now modern Lutheranism.
- 13:28They rejected what their founder teached because it has no foundation and no basis
- 13:35in legitimate Christian doctrine, and no biblical evidence to support it. Sorry,
- 13:43but I'll say seventy five percent of Protestant doctrine in the tens of thousands of
- 13:50Protestant denominations, all of whom disagree with each other, is completely made up.
- 13:56And everything they think they hate about the Etholic Church is completely biblical and
- 14:03is taught with the authority that Christ gave his church, that he gave to
- 14:07no other person on the face of the earth, no other institution, only
- 14:15to his apostles and their successors those they would ordain, and to the church
- 14:20that he founded while he was living on this earth before the Crucifixion, when
- 14:26he said to Peter, your name is no longer Simon Barjona. They are
- 14:30Peter, which means the Rock, and upun this rock I found my church
- 14:33and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. But let me just
- 14:39pause it another point, if I could, how filled with hatred do you
- 14:46have to be when someone has just asked for prayers for a deceased friend and
- 14:54hundreds of people are expressing their sympathies and condolences. To get on there and
- 15:01try to insult a person that is that's not a sign of zeal for your
- 15:13religion. Uh, Christianity is love. As Christians, we can give condolences
- 15:22and prayers and support to non Christians, to Muslims, to Jews, to
- 15:30Hindus, to atheists, because you know that's what Jesus would do. Okay.
- 15:37Love is the cardinal virtue. The greatest of these is love. And
- 15:43you're going to go on a forum where someone's grieving and other people are offering
- 15:48your support, and you're going to assault their religion and themselves and the person
- 15:52that they're grieving for that is not Christian. That is demonic possession. If
- 16:03you hate the Catholic Church so much that you would do something like that,
- 16:08you're probably going to hell. And I said a prayer for that person because
- 16:15I am actually a Christian now on too, Father Sparago, Father Sparago starts
- 16:26with the history of creation. This is actually sub chapter number five in the
- 16:30Apostles Creed. We say God created heaven and earth. Well, boy,
- 16:33are we going to get into that? We are instructed by the writer of
- 16:37the Book of Genesis and the story of Creation. The account given of the
- 16:44creation in the Book of Genesis is not a fable, but is founded on
- 16:47the truth. The sacred writer was enlightened by the Holy Ghost and his words
- 16:52are part of the Word of God. Perhaps God gave him a vision of
- 16:56the course of creation. The story is an exact agreement with the conclusions of
- 17:00natural history. All investigations into the crust of the earth show that organic life
- 17:07was developed in an order set forth in genesish once again I have to ask
- 17:12you to excuse my raspy voicees get an old. In the beginning zo point
- 17:18one, God created the spiritual and material universe in the beginning I in the
- 17:23beginning of time, and there was nothing else existing except God. Time began
- 17:29with the world, so that before the creation there was no time. Holy
- 17:33scripture does not tell us when the world was created. The world may have
- 17:37existed for millions of years before the creation of man. Oddly enough, there
- 17:41are many Baptist and Pentecostals out there that'll swear to you that the world is
- 17:45only ten thousand years old. You know, scientists can go find dinosaur bones
- 17:49that are millions of years old, day tony, they even exist. Yeah,
- 17:53what are you going to do? I mean, you cannot put sense
- 17:57in some people's brains. The fact that it takes millions of years for the
- 18:06light of some of the heavenly bodies to reach the earth seems to show this
- 18:10to have been the case. Created i e. Made of nothing. How
- 18:14God produced the materials out of which the world was made we do not know.
- 18:18Instead of the spiritual and the material world, Saint Paul says things visible
- 18:22and invisible. The words of Genesis are in the beginning. God created the
- 18:29heaven and earth. The heaven does not mean the star mismangled sky, the
- 18:33creation of which is narrated subsequently, it means the abode of the angels and
- 18:37saints. The material world is called the earth because the earth is for men
- 18:42the most important part of the material world. The first words of the Bible,
- 18:48God created Heaven are intended to remind man of his last end and future
- 18:53destiny. The spiritual world consists of angels and the heaven where they dwelt.
- 19:00The angels are called the morning stars in job because they were created before the
- 19:06material world and in the morning of the universe. Hell was not created at
- 19:10the beginning of the universe, but la a later period. This is reference
- 19:14to Matthew thirty four and forty one, after the fall of the rebel angels.
- 19:18The material world includes all things which are found in the visible universe.
- 19:22Men are a union of spirit and body, and were created later point two.
- 19:27The material world was at first without form, without inhabitants, without light.
- 19:32God first created the material elements out of which the world was formed.
- 19:37Natural philosophy tells us that the world existed first of all in a form of
- 19:41a vast, massive vapor, and that this vast mask gradually was condensed under
- 19:45the influence of an intense heat and to the material universe. This is perfectly
- 19:52in accordance with the account of the creation given in Genesis. Point three.
- 19:56God gave the material universe in its present form in the course of six days.
- 20:03Point three. God gave to the material universe its present form in this
- 20:07course of six days. These days are probably long periods of time consisting of
- 20:11many thousands of years. For the seventh day, the day of rest,
- 20:15lasts until the end of the world. Is that interesting? We are still
- 20:18in the seventh day. Moreover, four of the days were already elapsed before
- 20:25the sun was formed, and therefore they cannot have been the days as we
- 20:29now understand the world as we now understand the word. The word day is
- 20:33chosen because of the week of creation was to be a sort of pattern of
- 20:37our present week. On the first day, God made light. We readly
- 20:41in Genesis, God said, let there be light, and there was light.
- 20:44The expression let there be denotes that something came into existence which did not
- 20:48exist before. This was the luminous matter which is now gathered in the sun.
- 20:53It is not dependent on the sun, but the sun on it.
- 20:57The gaseest matter was at first informed i e had had no forces. God
- 21:02imparted to it the law of gravitation, by means of which the various particles
- 21:07of matter were set into motion and drawn together, and thus were condensed gradually
- 21:11into a solid mass. By the process of warmth, and at last fire
- 21:15were developed. On the first day, fire, the main source of light,
- 21:19was produced by the movement given into the gasseut particles, and the existing
- 21:23vapor was condisceed into masses endowed with fire and light. On the second day,
- 21:30God made the firmament. The words of Genesis are. God said,
- 21:33let there be a firmament made amidst the waters, and let it divide the
- 21:37waters from the waters. And God called the firmament Heaven. On this day
- 21:41there was a separation, arrangement, and establishment of the created masses, which
- 21:45were divided into parts according to their constitution and magnitude, parted from one another,
- 21:51and arranged in various places that God had destined for them. This planting
- 21:56of the various worlds and their places in space constituted the firmament, which God
- 22:02called Heaven, in which the Sun and moon and stars pursue the course that
- 22:06was allotted to each. This firmament is the material heaven, as opposed to
- 22:10the spiritual heaven, which is identical with the celestial paradise. The Earth on
- 22:15which we live was one of the condensed masses, which took its place among
- 22:19the other heavenly bodies. God at the same time divide off off the planets
- 22:23and moved around. God at the same time divide off the planets that moved
- 22:29around the Sun, which forms the center of their system. From the fixed
- 22:33stars. On the third day, God made the dry land and the plants.
- 22:38Here, the sacred Writer concerns himself more especially with our Earth. The
- 22:42Earth, which was originally a fire ball of gas. Fiery ball of gas
- 22:47gradually lost its heat and cooled down. In the midst of space. The
- 22:51great masses of mitst mist divide themselves into the sea and the land. The
- 22:56solid elements were drawn together and formed the crust of the Earth Earth, through
- 23:00which the water forced itself from within. Thus were made the various oceans or
- 23:04seas. And by this upheaval, the surface of the Earth as it exists
- 23:08at present was gradually formed, with its continents and islands, its mountains and
- 23:12valleys. Under the influence of the warmth of the earth, the moist surface
- 23:18was now ready for the development of organic life. This did not arise out
- 23:22of nothing, like the original primary matter. It was already implanted in the
- 23:26Earth by Almighty God, and was evolved the fare from as soon as circumstances
- 23:32favorable to its development presented themselves. No organic life can arise from mere inorganic
- 23:37matter. No possible combination of mere inorganic elements can ever produce any kind of
- 23:44organic life. It's a very valid point that many people miss when they're talking
- 23:48about evolution and the origin of the species and such. The original germs out
- 23:55of which life arose were already existing in the vapor cloud out of which the
- 23:59Earth was formed, but were not able to develop themselves under the conditions of
- 24:03extreme heat and cold. They remained as undeveloped germs until the more moderate temperature
- 24:08enabled them to produce plants and trees under the influence of warmth and moisture.
- 24:14On the fourth day, God made the sun, moon and stars. On
- 24:17the fourth day of creation, the Earth, which had been involved in darkness
- 24:21by the thick mists that surrounded it as long as it had not fully cooled
- 24:26down, began to have a clearer atmosphere, and only a few clouds floated
- 24:30over its surface instead of a dense vapor that it had encircled it. The
- 24:33shining bodies in the heaven became visible when the Sun begin to exercise an influence
- 24:38upon the Earth and produce the alterations of day and night and the various seasons
- 24:44of the year. The sun had previously provided a feeble power of radiation,
- 24:48but during this fourth period it assumed its present form. We did not know
- 24:53whether there exists living beings on any of the stars. If there are such,
- 24:57they must be of a very different nature. Sure of our own.
- 25:00We know that in the Moon there is no atmosphere, no fire, no
- 25:03water, no sound, no rain, no wind, no vegetation in a
- 25:07long night of three hundred and fifty hours. No, it's that interesting.
- 25:10Even in the eighteen nineties, what do the Catholic Church say. We accept
- 25:18the scientific aspects of evolution of life forms changing over time, we don't believe
- 25:22that's the origin of the species. Same thing it teaches now. And we
- 25:26don't know if there's life on other planets, and it's really of no concern
- 25:30to us. So you know, everybody gets all worked up over aliens and
- 25:36such, and I'm just like, yeah, whatever, I mean, if
- 25:37they're there, they've been there as least as long as we've been here,
- 25:41and they haven't bothered us yet. They're probably not going to bother us in
- 25:44the future. Whatever. You know, if there's intelligent life on another planet
- 25:51that worships the same God we do, if it's intelligent, and if it's
- 25:56as stupid as many the human beings are, then it can be just as
- 26:03confused. On the fifth day, God made the fishes and the birds.
- 26:07On the sixth day God made the animals, and last of all men.
- 26:11The animals were next made in order to proclaim the power of their creator by
- 26:15their number, variety, greatness, and strength and cleverness, and also to
- 26:19serve man, to nourish him, to clothe him, and to labor for
- 26:22his benefit. You see, man is the crown of creation. As the
- 26:26Church used to more boldly teach, all in nature serves man. Man does
- 26:32not serve nature, something we seem to have forgotten. Man was produced.
- 26:38Let's see, Man was produced, the last of all the animals, and
- 26:41surpass them in all dignity and the possession of reason and free will. Man
- 26:47is the crown of God's creation. God prepared the world for his reception that
- 26:49he might enter and take possession of it as a king takes possession of his
- 26:53kingdom. The world would not have been complete without Man. All else was
- 26:57made for his sake. In all the rest of the work of creation,
- 27:02God simply said, let it be. But before he created man, he
- 27:06is represented to taking counsel with himself. This is to show the importance and
- 27:11the dignity of man. On the seventh day, God rested from all his
- 27:15work that he had done. God's rest consists in this that on the seventh
- 27:19day he brought nothing more into existence. It was the working out without any
- 27:23further creative action on the part of God, of the order that he had
- 27:26established. The fact that God rested does not mean that he ceased from working.
- 27:30As a reference to John five point seventeen, God must continue to work
- 27:34in the world, else it would cease to exist. As God rested after
- 27:38his work, so we shall rest in him when our work is done.
- 27:42From the story of Creation, we learned that God made the world after a
- 27:45fixed plan. God in creation proceeds from the lower to the higher. He
- 27:51first made all things that were necessary for what would afterwards come into life.
- 27:55E g. He made first the plants and then the animals, and needed
- 27:57them for food. The first three days he separated the various parts of the
- 28:02world from each other. In the three following days he developed an adorned creation.
- 28:07The first three days correspond to the three last, for on the first
- 28:11he made light and on the fourth luminous bodies. On the second he separated
- 28:15water and air from each other, And on the fifth he filled the water
- 28:19and fishes, and the air with birds. He filled the water with fishes,
- 28:23in the air with birds. On the third he made the dry land.
- 28:26On the six he filled with animals. From the account of creation,
- 28:30we also learned that the world is not eternal. The Heathen thought the world
- 28:33sprung from the accidental occurrence of a number of eternal atoms. But the present
- 28:38wonderful order could not possibly have arisen by chance, And the atoms are all
- 28:44dependent on one another, and therefore could not be eternal. The atoms,
- 28:48too, could never have put themselves into motion. Others thought that the material
- 28:52of the world were eternal, and that God simply arranged them. Others imagined
- 28:56that the world was developed out of the divine essence. See that's a pantheist
- 29:00way of looking at things. But this would not But this would make the
- 29:06world invisible. But this would make the world indivisible and unchangeable. And we
- 29:10know that that is not so. God is indeed everywhere, But the world
- 29:14is not God. It is something different from him, and separated from his
- 29:18being. From what and from what end has God created the world one,
- 29:23God the world. God made the world have nothing simply because it pleased him
- 29:27to make it. Man can only make anything out of pre existing materials.
- 29:32God made the materials. Men have to employ implements, They have to labor
- 29:36and require a certain time to produce their work. God spoke and the world
- 29:40was made. He did not even need to speak. All that was needed
- 29:42was that he should will what he desired to be done. All that God
- 29:47created was very good. God himself committed his own works in Genesis one thirty
- 29:52one. The world was very good because it in no way diverged from the
- 29:56divine idea, but was in perfect accord with it. God praised his own
- 30:00works because no one could praise him sufficiently. Because no one else could praise
- 30:06them sufficiently. We also should praise God in his works, as the three
- 30:10young men in the Fiery Furnace at Babylon. Evil is evil because creature make
- 30:15creatures make a bad use of their free will. Nothing that exists can be
- 30:18bad in itself, but everything must at least be in some way good.
- 30:25As an herbalist, that's something I have to emphasize to people very often.
- 30:30Every plant that God made is good. There's no evil plant. We just
- 30:33have to know how to properly use it. And the true same is true
- 30:37of everything. Point two. God was moved to make the world by his
- 30:41great goodness. His object was to make his reasonable creatures happy. As a
- 30:47good father shows pictures to his children to please him and make them love him.
- 30:51So God has manifested his works to his reasonable creatures to make them happy
- 30:56and earn their love. God made all earthly things for good, some for
- 31:00the support of men, such as plants and animals, some for their instruction,
- 31:03some for their enjoyment, and some for trials, as such as sickness
- 31:07and suffering. All things that I see upon the earth, says Saint Augustine,
- 31:12proclaim that thou hast made them from love of me, and call upon
- 31:17me to love thee. God did not need the world, He made it
- 31:19for our sakes. Zero point three. The end of creation is necessarily to
- 31:25proclaim to men the glory of God. In every work, we have to
- 31:29distinguish between the end of the maker and the work, i e. That
- 31:32which moved the artificier to make the work, and the end of the work
- 31:37itself, i e. That for which work was destined In a clock.
- 31:40The end of the maker of the clock is his own profit. The end
- 31:42of the clock is to indicate time in the world. The motive of the
- 31:47artificer is God's great goodness. The end of the work is God's glory and
- 31:52the happiness of his reasonable creatures. The motive of the countless number and variety
- 31:56of living and lifeless beings, and the innumerable number of the stars is that
- 32:01angels and men may know and admire the majesty of God. The end and
- 32:07object to the existence of angels and men, or that they may unseasoningly behold
- 32:09and praise God. Says Saint Augustine, thou hast made us for thyself,
- 32:15O God, And how unquiet is our hearts so long as it finds not
- 32:20its rest in thee. Even the devils are compared to contribute, in spite
- 32:23of themselves, to the glory of God. For by their punishment they show
- 32:28us how holy and just God is. And God employs him also for the
- 32:31perfection of his elect through resistance to their temptations. Even the lost in hell
- 32:37manifests the justice and holiness of God and his hatred of sin. God has
- 32:42made all things for himself. The wicked also for the evil days from Proverbs.
- 32:46Yet God did not make the world with a view to any increase in
- 32:50his glory, For God is infinitely happy in himself and has no need of
- 32:54anything or anyone outside of himself. Since we are made from the glory of
- 32:59God, we should in all our works have the intention of honoring God.
- 33:01Saint Paul instructs us that whether we eat or drink, or whatever we do
- 33:06we should do, we should do all to the glory of God. Nothing
- 33:09is easier than to give glory to God. Since we can direct our most
- 33:13minute actions toward this end. When we wake in the morning and oftentimes during
- 33:17the day, we should renew this intention. I guess we'll wrap it up
- 33:24there. That's another big, very very involved subject. I want to listen
- 33:32to this one twice. There's a lot done back there. I mean,
- 33:36in many ways, this is how the creation provides evidence of the Creator and
- 33:43the divine order of all that is. And to deny, to just assume
- 33:49that all this came about by chance is impossible. I mean, there's harmony,
- 33:54such harmony in everything. But anyway, in the world of Saint Padre
- 34:00Pio, pray, hope, and don't worry. I maybe you'll get a
- 34:04hot drink and I will talk to you all tomorrow, hopefully be a little
- 34:08more improved by then. Have a good one.
