- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody welcome to episode 54 of cheesy popcorn.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Chris Miles of Coast, the long side, and of our, also your co-host.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: And on today's episode, we're going to talk about our favorite Western TV shows of all time.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: And we've got a review of Avengers Endgame on-core, if I remember correctly.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: Which one?
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: Avengers and Game On-Core.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_03]: Re-release, I call it.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: Re-released.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and I have a special surprise for you, uh-oh.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: is a TV series that I think you all are going to want to watch it's either number one or number two on Netflix right now.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: Of course it's pretty good but we'll talk about it in just a second.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: First let's talk about the shows that are coming out this weekend.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have your homework done?
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: Do you want to go back and forth or where are you at with all of that?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_03]: We can go back and forth.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_03]: I have three I think are coming out this week but for some reason I
- 1:49[SPEAKER_02]: So is any of your three the social reckoning treasure trekkers or other mommy those two and Street Fighter three Street Fighter doesn't come out this weekend.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it said it did and the preview I just saw no it does not know no, okay
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: But I will find out when Street Fighter comes out because I think it's in the next couple of weeks.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: So which one do you have?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: Because I mentioned three.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: I said, so other, other mommy.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_03]: OK. Social reckoning.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_03]: What do I have those two then?
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: I said, why don't you go with other mommy?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to go to.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_03]: other money.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to see it.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_03]: It looks really strange.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_03]: What's interesting is they brought back Karen Allen who had that a lot of comedic rose back in the day put a pause in that street fighter official comes out October 16th.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: So you're a week early.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, okay.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: So I wasn't too far off.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_03]: No, but you're early, but other mommy is the synopsis is a little girl who starts talking to a figure that comes out of her closet that she calls her other mommy and then a bunch of stuff happens to her and the family and it's enough for me.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_03]: And I would like to say about it.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: He did not do his homework, ladies and gentlemen.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_03]: You did not want to do it that it's just another.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: You don't even have the director, you don't have anything.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't think the director was wrong.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's directed by Rob Savage, produced by Blum House and Atomic Monster.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it starts Jessica Chastain and is a Dicken-Dikon-Lachman.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: Where's all that happened?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_03]: The only name I recognized was Karen Allen.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: Jessica Chastain, you don't even recognize that name.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like really popular actors right now.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_03]: She must be in movies.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_03]: I don't watch.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: Well, okay.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to go with the one that you didn't have.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: Treasure Tracker's, which is an animated film.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: I want to take tune with to that.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's an adaptation of a popular children's TV series.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: And it serves kind of like as the origin story of that.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's about a 12 year old adopted monkey.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: uh... who's navigating through middle school it's kind of a crazy thing but you know about the monkey a twelve-year-old adopted monkey okay about adapted adopted adopted yes twelve years old that's kind of old for a monkey to be adopted isn't it all you know who knows can we not ruin a good story with facts to say wow what's that in monkey years i don't know what i'm not a monkey in other a you
- 4:41[SPEAKER_03]: Well, we were at one time.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: No, we were not.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_03]: If you believe, no solution.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: No, we were not.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: OK. All right.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then there's some world domination going on here with cats and rodents.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a typical cat and mouse game.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_02]: See what we did there.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's some magic map stuff in it.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, I don't know, unlocking some superpowers or, you know, anyway, the whole thing is about being kind and empathetic to others.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: That's really what it boils down to.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: OK.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: John Demojo's in it, Alan Cummings in it, Craig Opus, OIPS, I've never heard of him.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, that comes out this weekend as well, and then you had one more social reckoning, which looks really good.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_03]: It's by the same guy he was just on.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_03]: on the Daily Show last night, and I'm blanking on his name, but he also did social network.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: And this is a, he said it's not a sequel, but it's sort of connected, it's the story of Facebook with Jeremy Allen and Bill Burr are in it.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_03]: And Bill Burr is a very popular,
- 5:53[SPEAKER_03]: kind of edgy comedian and he's been in a few movies that I've seen and he's doing a real good job.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_03]: So in the previews that I saw he looks like he does a really good job in this one.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm interested to see it because it's it's really about a a whistleblower who comes out against the whole Facebook thing.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_03]: So it should be interesting considering the times that we're in.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_03]: So I'd go see that.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so that's a good way to see another Facebook movie.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: Right, that's exactly why I don't want to see it because I'm like the other one that was a social network.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think this one is a little deeper and showed more of the dark side.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Luke.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, all right, and as I've got a couple others, we've got one that's coming out on Apple TV this weekend and also Netflix.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: We'll start off with Netflix because I saw this when heavily advertised on Netflix over the course of the week while I was watching a show.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: which I'm actually going to review in a little bit.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's a crime thriller drama.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's called animals.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: It starts Ben Affleck alongside Kerry Washington, Steve Yoon, and Julian Anderson.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: So it's got some interesting, interesting cast of characters there.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: And it's about a high profile,
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: uh... who's basically kidnapped uh... and the politician is wife was uh... frankly scramble to raise the ransom money force in them in the dark choices that uh... basically threatened them to dismantle their entire lives
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like scandal and all those other crime filler drama TV's movie shows wrapped up into one.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: It looks kind of interesting.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see the chemistry between Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington myself.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to see how Jillian Anderson plays in all of this as well too.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: So that could be interesting.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: Also, if you're looking for a high octane action and a high octane action comedy, try to say that three times fast.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: Matchbox the movie.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's coming out on Apple TV.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's directed by Sam Hardgrave.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: It stars John Cena, Jessica Beal, Sam Richardson, and Diana Guera.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: And of course, it's inspired by the legendary Mattel die cast cars.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: It basically falls a group of kids, childhood friends, if you will, whose lives are basically turned upside down when they're old ring leader.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: uh... serve resurfaces and reveals that he's a deep cover c.i.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_03]: operative who accidentally dragged them all into a massive global trotting conspiracy to track down a stolen nuclear warhead isn't that sort of like the movie with the rock and uh... what movie is it not like and uh... and the little guy uh... what's a little comics name i can't think with name uh... the little guy the little comic wow he's calling for a guy's probably his shortest me or shorter cabin
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin something.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, Kevin Hart.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there you go.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he just had a a roast on Netflix.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin Hart, too.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually pretty funny.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: The roast of Kevin Hart.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_03]: But like John Cena, so, but it sounds similar to that.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: What movie does that not sound similar like?
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's like the
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: the high-octane action-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity-dromity
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: If you got Apple TV, you'll be able to watch it if not, you're probably going to skip it anyway.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: So there you go.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: But we like to always include a decent variety of things because not everyone can get out to the movie theaters as well.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of movie theaters, let's talk about what's on the list.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: you went and saw Avengers Endgame on course.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: So how was that extra two minutes of footage at the end of the movie?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_03]: I did go see it and we're going to have a guest.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_03]: I guess what do we call it?
- 9:55[SPEAKER_03]: Rapper?
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: A guest?
- 9:57[SPEAKER_03]: A guest?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: A guest?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: A guest?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_03]: Critique?
- 10:01[SPEAKER_03]: I, here's what I thought.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_03]: This is one of those movies that's easy to watch over and over again.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_03]: It really is.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_03]: There's not a dull moment in this movie.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, watching it today was like watching it for the first time again.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_03]: Great cinematography, great effects, great directing.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, everything about this movie is terrific, including the little cameo by Stan Lee, which I love that they keep putting in these things.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: There's one odd thing that I know they don't do that anymore.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_03]: Well, they did for Endgame.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was one of the last ones.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: Here's an odd thing I noticed at the beginning of the movie when they go to the planet to find Thanos.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_03]: It appears like his left hand is all scorched, presumably from the glove, but everywhere else in the movie, the glove is right handed.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not sure how white it, white it and somebody catch that.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_03]: When he's in his little place cooking, you could clearly see his left hand is very damaged, similar to the hawk when he put it on.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm wondering if anybody else caught that.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: Spoiler alert, other than that, it was terrific.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_03]: Again, it was terrific again.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_03]: as far as the additional footage.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_03]: Apparently, if you don't see it in IMAX, you only get two.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_03]: We're in IMAX, you get three or four, but we'll find that about that in a little bit.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_03]: The first added scene is short and sweet, but incredibly effective.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's a great teaser.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_03]: The second one,
- 11:57[SPEAKER_03]: I'm already looking forward to doomsday to begin with.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_03]: The second clip didn't really add to that.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_03]: In any way, didn't add to my curiosity.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_03]: At least not as much as the first one did.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: The first tiny little add-on was great.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_03]: So, I give the rerelease a 9.5 because you can't go wrong seeing this movie at a theater again.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_03]: You probably seen it a hundred times on TV, but seen it at a theater where it was quite fun again.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_03]: So there you go.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_03]: Now, you can start yours, and I will call our guests.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: Now, see, this is where you were supposed to be ready to go.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm ready.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: So we could go and do all of this all together.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: So why don't I just give him a call and we'll head through this.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: Because here's what I'm going to say about endgame and whether or not you need to see it.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: If you're hardcore Marvel fan, probably, if you're not a hardcore Marvel fan, you can actually find the footage of both clips, the two minute and the four minute out on the web right now and save yourself.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's out there.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_03]: You just got to dive a little bit and welcome to Cheesy Popcorn once again.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_03]: Hello.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_03]: Hello, can you hear me?
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_03]: Why did my review went just in to see how yours lines up with mine?
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I, I, the, are we talking about the post kind of scenes correct?
- 13:29[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the whole movie, you could talk about the movie and I gave the
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: and game will always be the pinnacle of Marvel, but that means that they've made.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't wait to see how they think Tuesday is going to top this.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: But I would like to say that the first post-credits scene was Steve Peckie, Peckie, sorry, and Loki.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: I was expecting that.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: because there's no way that Loki would let his most of us crumble after Loki season two.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: What I wasn't expecting is for the most of us to actually collapse while he was just visiting Steven Peggy for a little bit, and that next post credits scene with the TBA.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, we don't want to get too much away because people still haven't seen it.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: Well, then why are you even revealing the post credit teams?
- 14:30[SPEAKER_03]: I could just say, you know, what you thought that it make you more want to see the doomsday or were you still were you?
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: I always wanted to see doomsday.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: The post credit seems just kind of like in a book when you have the, they call it the first sentence or the hook sentence.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's basically what the post credit seems good for me.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I mean, how they were so well connected to to Tom Holland's new Spider-Man movie and the other X-Men movies that we're going to get after Tuesday and all the movies that kind of built up to it.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: And another thing that I'm very, very proud about that Marvel did is how they shifted from King.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: Joe, Joe, in such a short period of time after the actor did some bad stuff.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: True.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_03]: So what did you, uh, what would you give this reboot?
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, again, the movie that I would, the movie rating just based on the movie, I would give it a solid eight and a half because it was like the pinnacle Marvel, but now they're doing doomsday with most of your verses and bringing that classic so they're definitely going to beat and game, but with the post credit scenes, the new ones and not just leaving it blank, I say it's has to be at least a nine in the house.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, that's what I gave it, nine and a half.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, great minds think alike.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_03]: I guess so, so that would be you and Chris.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_03]: All right, I know you were having dinner, so we don't want to keep you from that.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_03]: We just wanted to get you two years quick as possible.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wanted Chris things.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_03]: What, a Christian said, he saw something else.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_03]: So you can get angry at him like you did with me for not seeing Toy Story Five.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we need you to come in and replace Chris.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_03]: That sounds like a no.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: I sound like if I'm replacing anybody soon, it's going to be the one who needs hearing aids.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: And on that note,
- 16:50[SPEAKER_03]: You go back and have your supper, and thank you very much for joining us again, Tino.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, Mom, for letting you do this with us.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, when you're the fun time.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, always.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_03]: Love you.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Love you, bye.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_03]: Say bye to Chris.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: Bye, Chris.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: Goodbye, Tino.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks again for your awesome reviews.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: And you better watch Avengers and Game on Corps.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: I've already seen the four minutes.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's available online.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's true.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you could have told me that team on save me three hours.
- 17:24[UNKNOWN]: Oh, no.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: No, I went there for the later showing with my mom and my uncle.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: Three hours there in.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, can you see the eye max version or did you see the standard version?
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: We went to go see it in a screen called Screen X, where there's three screens.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, cool.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: One in your front, one on your left, one on your right.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: And basically for the most intense scenes at the end fighting scene, you have three screens projecting one scene, and your platform will catch every side.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_03]: Interesting.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see the the regular screen that I want to see it on because it's cheaper Only had the two clips didn't have the third or fourth one What yep Hey Sounds like you got to get back to eating buddy All right, bye.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_03]: Bye.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_03]: Bye.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_03]: I love you.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Bye, Chris.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_03]: Bye.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_03]: Bye.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_03]: Bye.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Bye.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: See you all next week.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: Bye
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you again, Teno, for your amazing review.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's an interesting way to see the movie.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: That might actually make me go see endgame in the movie theaters now.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: Now that I know that there's a way to see it on three different screens and watch it from your peripheral.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: That sounds interesting.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: I want to look into that.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: However, and I'm just going to be honest with everybody.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: I never intended to go see this at all, on-core, because I was like, it's going to be four minutes of video that's going to come at the end of the movie.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to have to sit through endgame all the way through just to get to the end of this and I'm like and some shwuck Sorry, I shouldn't say like that, but somebody's going to record it and put it up on the internet and they have and it's all over the place So you can see everything you want to see which leads into it Interesting to say interesting to hear him say that he was intrigued by the whole multiverse Explosion thing because that's what doomsday is all about
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: So it is interesting to see that, and then of course it's interesting to know what they're going to do with all of this because obviously the next big Avengers movie is going to be secret wars, which is why Spider-Man ended the way that it ended, but I'm not going to go any further than that.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_02]: So there you go, that's it.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: So all around a decent review of Avengers and game on core and if that's your cup of tea, that's your cup of tea.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I know you can take my mobile card away from me.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, why do I need to go to the theaters to see four minutes worth of stuff that I got to sit through a three hour movie just to see?
- 19:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, again, I don't.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of the movies that it's a movie that you can watch again and again.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_03]: And if you can see it a couple times in the theater, it just makes it that much better, I think.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't I don't disagree and I saw in game when it came out in the movie theaters I brought my I think that was the last actual Marvel movie I took my son to Because at that point he was a teenager and he was like dead.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_02]: I want to go see these movies with my friends So I think that was the last Marvel movie that we saw together so
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it would have made me cry if I saw it.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: We did it because of that anyway.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: So since we shifted gears and we started talking about TV shows, I have started to realize that maybe what we should be reviewing are TV shows that are available to the public, as they come out and stuff like that.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I shifted gears, number one because we had a little bit of a personal situation happened over the last couple of weeks.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: And that is what has kept us away from the microphones but also because of that situation and then some other things going on I didn't actually get to see a heart of the beast.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's still in movie theaters.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: We might go see it this weekend, but we've got a busy weekend as well too, so I'm not 100% sure.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: But what I can do is I can stream stuff at home.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: which is what a lot of people do.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: And on October 1st, a very interesting limited series came out on Netflix.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's called East of Eden.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I saw that.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to know the location on which is a seven episode historical drama.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's basically a fresh adaptation of John Steinbeck's classic 1952 novel.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_03]: Of course.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's created and co-showrun by Zoe Kazan.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: who, uh, interesting little side note of information, uh, Zoe Kazan is, uh, I lost it where did it go?
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: She's like the granddaughter of, uh, the Kazan that directed the original east of Eden with James Dean.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, and if she's not the granddaughter, she's, uh, somehow related, but that was the whole thing, and I was like, wow, that's, that's kind of cool.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that is so, so Kazars grand.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: uh... dotter yeah so okay our sorry so because our grandfather directed it the original nineteen fifty five version so uh... little bit of a comparison there it is a seven episode limited series on netflix all seven episodes are available now uh... and it's so good you could literally binge watch it
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: There are some parts where it gets a little bit slow, you know, but I mean, that happens sometimes especially when you're talking about a multi-generational saga of a family, the trash family and the Hamilton families in the Salinas Valley.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: It basically focuses a lot on the perspective of the story's complex antihiro, Kathy Ames, and the reason why I bring up Kathy Ames is because since you talked about Endgame and you were talking about Marvel, I was like, how cool is this that we have a actress who played
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: in a Marvel movie, a couple Marvel movies, actually.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: And now she's in this one.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm talking, of course, about Florence Pugh.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: Oh.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: She plays Kathy Ants.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Critically acclaimed by a lot of people about her portrayal of this role and everything.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_02]: To sum out the rest of the cast, Christopher Abbott is in there, Mike Faced.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: Hoon Lee is in there as well.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: He also gets a lot of critical, yeah.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_02]: I knew you were gonna do that.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: He's gotten a lot of critical acclaim for his portrayal of Lee, as well, too.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: It did debut on the No.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: 1 spot in Netflix, and it's basically set across like the late 19th century.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: It covers like World War I, and then narrative follows like a fiercely independent woman who drives basically a permanent wedge between two brothers, and it ignites a sprawling biblical allegory, kind of marrying the story of Cain and Abel, across generations.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: Very well done, very well written.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's something I think that you need to see, to watch and to give yourself some time to go through all.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to watch them all in a row, but definitely for sure actually take a look at a critics, praising it across the board, a TV guide, IGN as well, all say that it's a handsomely produced, streamed equivalent of a page, Turner, and even even like
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: the regular community, even on Reddit, somebody said the East of Eden was phenomenal.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: I devoured the whole thing in one sitting, the acting, the re-enactment of the novel, the setting, the music, the actors, all perfect.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: So there you go.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: I am going and Ron Tomatoes, it's got 88% Ron Tomatoes.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: So it's very highly acclaimed.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: I am going to give it a 9 because it is that good and I'm actually going to watch it as you watch I watched all 7 all 7 episodes since October 1 very good.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: It is now October the 8th so it's been out for 8 years right exactly there you go
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: So check it out, East of Eden.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: It is a limited series available on Netflix.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: It'll probably be there for a while, but definitely want to check it out.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: And then maybe you want to check out East of Eden with James Dean, because it's also part of this story.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_02]: If you will as well, too.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: So there you go, folks.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: A couple of great reviews of some great stuff to check out.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: And of course, as we always do here on the show.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's time to go to my favorite part of the show where we talk about in this case our favorite TV Westerns and God knows you are gonna have a list of at least 25 million.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_03]: I have 3700.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_03]: I have four.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_03]: What's one is current in there?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_03]: The others are not.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yellowstone, I bet you.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_03]: I don't see Yellowstone as a Western.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_03]: I see it more as a modern day
- 25:52[SPEAKER_03]: political rancher kind of movie.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_03]: My first one is Gunsmoke, which is the pinnacle of... You know, I mean, you're going to predict which ones I think you're going to do.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: Gunsmoke was one of them.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're going to do the riflemen.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're going to do a have gunwheel travel.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: You're probably going to do a banana and those are your four.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: But you're probably also going to, you said a new one.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_03]: Gunsmoke and Bonanza, you were correct.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_03]: There we go.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: Not have got a little travel.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_03]: They were good, but I'm bringing it down to the best.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_03]: And then modern day Western TV series tombstone, which I thought was pretty well done.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_03]: And then I'm going to throw an odd one in there.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_03]: because Dennis Weaver, if you remember Dennis Weaver, was the original deputy in Gunsmoke, and then he got his own series called McCloud, where he was detected from, I wanna say, Arizona or Texas, and he gets sent to New York.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: And he writes a horse around, and he solves all these crimes that these New York guys can't solve, and a very cowboy-ish kind of way.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm throwing that one in there too.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: I did.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: That was one of those TV shows that I was forced to watch because that was what we would do.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I enjoyed the McLeod.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_03]: I like Dennis Weaver.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_03]: It was very good.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: McLeod was pretty decent.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was interesting.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't ever get over the fact that there was a horse being ridden through downtown New York, but that's beside the point.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_03]: I thought that's what kind of made the show clever.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_02]: So your newest one was tombstone.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: And when did tombstone come out?
- 27:44[SPEAKER_03]: I know it's not new.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's not it's not new.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: There we go.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: So that's how you threw me off because you said new and I was like, oh, he's going Yellowstone.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: No, I see Yellowstone as a western.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: How do you not see Yellowstone as a western?
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: It is a calm.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: It is a current western.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: And everyone
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and then that's your problem.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: relationship between the landman and his wife or ex-wife or whatever.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: I can't remember exact.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think she's his ex-wife And then they like get them back get back together and there's like this whole like drama thing that goes on And it's kind of funny in a weird sort of twist and said it twisted and sedic-twisted and wow Okay, we're just gonna let that one go.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also gonna pick deadwood That was a TV series that I actually watched one of the few
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go for a show that most people are probably not going to say it's a western, but little harsh on the prairie.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know, you're nodding over there like me, not a western.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'm going to pick a TV mini series because I was forced to watch this one as well.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_02]: And the only reason why I actually enjoyed it was because the guy that was in it was in battle star galactica and so I'm going to pick lonesome dove.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: The mini-series from back in like I think 1989 or whatever.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, wasn't what is his name or Lauren Green wasn't Lauren Green I thought Lauren Green was a devolves in a two, but I Lauren Green is one one.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: I remember I like Lauren Green as well So there it's okay last but not least and I know you're not gonna say this is a Western But I think it is just because of the way that it was set Dr. Quinn medicine woman
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's a question.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'll give you that.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a different take on a question.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, totally different take.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not the whole like, have gone will travel.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: No, is the card of the man.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, one of that in our life was another government would an early early young Steve McQueen and did the wagon train just keep wagon training?
- 30:02[SPEAKER_03]: Why can't train was okay to have some interesting stories?
- 30:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's where Clint Eastwood got his start for those of you who don't know, you know, everybody thinks Clint Eastwood got his start in dirty hairy movies, but it wasn't there.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't say dirty hairy.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: I would say he was a good bat in the ugly before he was dirty hairy.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: And then last but not least, only because every time I and probably my generation thinks of Western TV, we're probably going to bring up Walker Texas Ranger.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_03]: Which one?
- 30:36[SPEAKER_03]: Walker Texas Ranger.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: With good old Chuck Norris.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: Because he was a badass.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_03]: So I guess.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: There you go, there's the list folks.
