Latest / Bible Chat Devotional / April 26 - The Right Way Up
Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 26th.
- 0:11The right way up. Sometimes the world feels upside
- 0:14down. Doing the right thing may go
- 0:17unnoticed, while dishonesty seems to get rewarded.
- 0:20People may celebrate shortcuts, pride, or selfishness and it can
- 0:24make you wonder if righteousness really matters.
- 0:28Proverbs chapter 14 verses 34 to 35 says righteousness exalts a
- 0:33nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
- 0:36God is reminding us that right living is never meaningless.
- 0:41It shapes people, families, communities, and even nations.
- 0:45Romans chapter 10 verse 13 says everyone who calls on the name
- 0:48of the Lord will be saved. That is the mercy of God wide
- 0:52open. No one is too far away to call
- 0:55on Him. No one is too broken to be
- 0:57heard. Then Romans Chapter 11 verse 36
- 1:00says, For from him and through him and to Him are all things.
- 1:05To him be glory forever. Everything begins with God, is
- 1:09sustained by God, and is meant to point back to God.
- 1:12That means your life has purpose.
- 1:14Your choices are not random. Your honesty, compassion,
- 1:19obedience, and courage matter because they can reflect God's
- 1:22glory in a confused world. Living God's way may not always
- 1:27make you popular, but it will make your life aligned with what
- 1:30is true. You do not have to fix the whole
- 1:32world today, but you can live rightly where God has placed
- 1:36you. You can call on Him when you are
- 1:38weak. You can use your words, gifts,
- 1:41friendships, and decisions to honor Him.
- 1:43The world may feel upside down, but God's way turns your heart
- 1:46right side up. Let's pray.
- 1:49Heavenly Father, thank you that everyone who calls on you can be
- 1:52saved. Help me live in a way that
- 1:55honors You and reflects Your righteousness.
- 1:57Use my choices, words and gifts for Your glory.
- 2:01Give me courage to do what is right even when it is not easy.
- 2:05In Jesus name, Amen. What if you could rise up and

- 3:08Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 3:10Bible reading plan. Proverbs chapter 14, verses 34
- 3:16to 35 World English Bible. Righteousness exalts a nation,
- 3:21but sin is a disgrace to any people.
- 3:24The King's favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but
- 3:27his wrath is toward one who causes shame.
- 3:30Romans chapters 10 to 11 World English Bible brothers.
- 3:35My heart's desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they
- 3:39may be saved. For I testify about them that
- 3:42they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
- 3:46For being ignorant of God's righteousness and seeking to
- 3:49establish their own righteousness, they didn't
- 3:51subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
- 3:55For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to
- 3:58everyone who believes. For Moses writes about the
- 4:02righteousness of the law. The one who does them will live
- 4:04by them. But the righteousness which is
- 4:07of faith says this, Don't say in your heart who will ascend into
- 4:11heaven, that is to bring Christ down, or who will descend into
- 4:15the abyss, that is to bring Christ up from the dead.
- 4:18But what does it say? The word is near you in your
- 4:22mouth and in your heart. That is the Word of Faith which
- 4:25we preach, that if you will confess with your mouth that
- 4:28Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him
- 4:31from the dead, you will be saved.
- 4:35For with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and
- 4:38with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation.
- 4:42For the Scripture says, whoever believes in him will not be
- 4:46disappointed. For there is no distinction
- 4:48between Jew and Greek. For the same Lord is Lord of
- 4:51all, and is rich to all who call on him.
- 4:54For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.
- 4:58How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed?
- 5:01How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard?
- 5:05How will they hear without a preacher?
- 5:07And how will they preach, unless they are sent as it is written?
- 5:11How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news
- 5:14of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things.
- 5:17But they didn't all listen to the glad news, for Isaiah says,
- 5:21Lord, who has believed our report.
- 5:23So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
- 5:27But I say, didn't they hear? Yes, most certainly their sound
- 5:31went out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the
- 5:34world. But I ask, didn't Israel know
- 5:37first? Moses says, I will provoke you
- 5:40to jealousy with that which is no nation.
- 5:43I will make you angry with a nation void of understanding.
- 5:46Isaiah is very bold and says I was found by those who didn't
- 5:50seek me. I was revealed to those who
- 5:53didn't ask for me. But about Israel he says all day
- 5:56long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary
- 5:59people. I asked then did God reject his
- 6:02people? May it never be, for I also am
- 6:06an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of
- 6:09Benjamin. God didn't reject his people
- 6:12whom he fork knew. Or don't you know what the
- 6:14Scripture says about Elijah, how he pleads with God against
- 6:18Israel? Lord, they have killed your
- 6:20prophets, they have broken down your altars.
- 6:23I am left alone and they seek my life.
- 6:25But how does God answer him? I have reserved for myself 7000
- 6:30men who have not bowed the need to bail.
- 6:33Even so too, at this present time also there is a remnant
- 6:37according to the election of grace.
- 6:39And if by grace then it is no longer of works, otherwise grace
- 6:43is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no
- 6:46longer grace, otherwise work is no longer work.
- 6:49What then? That which Israel seeks for that
- 6:53he didn't obtain. But the chosen ones obtained it,
- 6:56and the rest were hardened according as it is written.
- 7:00God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should
- 7:02not see, and ears that they should not hear.
- 7:05To this very day. David says, Let their table be
- 7:08made a snare, a trap, a stumbling block, and a
- 7:12retribution to them. Let their eyes be darkened, that
- 7:16they may not see. Always keep their backs bent.
- 7:19I asked. Then did they stumble that they
- 7:20might fall? May it never be.
- 7:23But by their fall salvation has come to the Gentiles to provoke
- 7:27them to jealousy. Now if their fall is the riches
- 7:31of the world, and their lost the riches of the Gentiles, how much
- 7:34more their fullness. For I speak to you who are
- 7:37Gentiles, since then, as I am an apostle to Gentiles, I glorify
- 7:42my ministry, if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those
- 7:46who are my flesh, and may save some of them.
- 7:50For if the rejection of them is the reconciling of the world,
- 7:53what would their acceptance be but life from the dead?
- 7:56If the first fruit is holy, so is the lump.
- 8:00If the root is holy, so are the branches.
- 8:03But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a
- 8:06wild olive, were grafted in among them, and became partaker
- 8:10with them of the root and of the richness of the olive tree,
- 8:14don't boast over the branches. But if you boast, remember that
- 8:18it is not you who support the root, but the root supports you.
- 8:23You will say then branches were broken off, that I might be
- 8:26grafted in. True, by their unbelief they
- 8:29were broken off. And you stand by your faith.
- 8:32Don't be conceited but fear. For if God didn't spare the
- 8:35natural branches, neither will He spare you.
- 8:38See then, the goodness and severity of God toward those who
- 8:42fell severity, but toward you goodness.
- 8:44If you continue in His goodness, otherwise you also will be cut
- 8:48off. They also, if they don't
- 8:51continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able
- 8:54to graft them in again. For if you were cut out of that
- 8:58which is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary
- 9:02to nature into a good olive tree, how much more will these,
- 9:06which are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive
- 9:10tree? For I don't desire you to be
- 9:13ignorant brothers of this mystery, so that you won't be
- 9:16wise in your own conceits that a partial hardening has happened
- 9:20to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
- 9:24And so all Israel will be saved, even as it is written.
- 9:29There will come out of Zion the Deliverer, and He will turn away
- 9:32ungodliness from Jacob. This is my covenant with them,
- 9:36when I will take away their sins.
- 9:38Concerning the good news, they are enemies for your sake, but
- 9:41concerning the election, they are beloved for the Father's
- 9:44sake. For the gifts and the calling of
- 9:47God are irrevocable. For as you in time past were
- 9:51disobedient to God, but now have obtained mercy by their
- 9:54disobedience, Even so these also have now been disobedient, that
- 9:59by the mercy shown to you they may also obtain mercy.
- 10:03For God has bound all to disobedience, that He might have
- 10:06mercy on all. O the depth of the riches, both
- 10:09of the wisdom and the knowledge of God.
- 10:12How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past
- 10:15tracing out? For who has known the mind of
- 10:18the Lord, or who has been His counselor, or who has first
- 10:22given to him? And it will be repaid to him
- 10:24again. For of him and through him and
- 10:26to him are all things. To him be the glory forever.
- 10:29Amen. Thanks for joining us on Bible
