- 0:04Speaker 1: Yo.
- 0:04Speaker 2: So before we turned the mics on, we was talking
- 0:07Speaker 2: about playing online and stuff, and you spoke about something
- 0:11Speaker 2: that we've been talking about lately, having the discord friends. Yeah,
- 0:16Speaker 2: basically like the people you meet gaming and stuff like.
- 0:19Speaker 2: That's kind of like a crazy thing for people like
- 0:21Speaker 2: us because we came up in the era when it
- 0:23Speaker 2: was like a big, big mistake to make friends online,
- 0:26Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like they was always telling
- 0:28Speaker 2: you with some like forty year old white dude, you don't.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Know who you know what I mean, banging with you
- 0:33Speaker 3: didn't know who it was.
- 0:35Speaker 4: No facts.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I was like back in the day when it was
- 0:37Speaker 2: just like the screen name, no profile, pick nothing, you
- 0:40Speaker 2: sudden catch predator, no facts. That was that was a
- 0:45Speaker 2: wild time online. It was like it was when the
- 0:47Speaker 2: Internet first came out.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Was literally the wild West.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Bro. I used to be in chat rooms and Aol
- 0:52Speaker 3: chat rooms thinking I was talking to shorties and I'm
- 0:56Speaker 3: like thirteen, fourteen years old thinking I was, and I
- 0:59Speaker 3: was like all in love with these girls. And after
- 1:01Speaker 3: I know, you know, I'm a little bit older than
- 1:04Speaker 3: you know. No, no, no, you could laugh. You know, it's
- 1:07Speaker 3: a bit I'm a big old school But now that
- 1:10Speaker 3: I see how it's been exposed. I'm like, yo, who
- 1:15Speaker 3: was I talking to back then?
- 1:16Speaker 4: Non fact?
- 1:17Speaker 2: And everybody has that one friend like that they made
- 1:21Speaker 2: online that they was in touch with them for a
- 1:24Speaker 2: long time and maybe you fell out or whatever that
- 1:26Speaker 2: we randomly think about, you know what I mean, You're like, dang,
- 1:28Speaker 2: like I wonder what happened to that person?
- 1:30Speaker 3: You know what I mean? I had a few of those, yeah, Bro.
- 1:33Speaker 2: The version of that that I had was I used
- 1:36Speaker 2: to be in like a rap battle thing online where
- 1:41Speaker 2: you would like battle and like upload the tracks on soundclick.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You remember sound click soundclick back in the day, bro,
- 1:48Speaker 2: And you used to just have people vote and then
- 1:50Speaker 2: that's how you would do like the tournaments. So it
- 1:52Speaker 2: was like rappers that I knew that would enter those
- 1:54Speaker 2: tournaments too, you.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Know what I mean, I wonder what was going in, Bro.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I was going in and I was like one of them,
- 1:59Speaker 4: like like fake New York, super tough rappers. Bro.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I was like thirteen years old. I was killing straight
- 2:05Speaker 2: out and went fourth. Nah facts, Bro, I was the
- 2:08Speaker 2: biggest murder. I was like thirteen, like barely had any hair.
- 2:15Speaker 3: That's crazy. Like again, you know, like we talked about
- 2:19Speaker 3: it like I grew up making music, That's why I
- 2:21Speaker 3: love music so much. And we would just producing music
- 2:24Speaker 3: and we used to rap about having guns and then
- 2:28Speaker 3: my boy would be like, you don't even have any guns,
- 2:31Speaker 3: and I was like, I know, but it's like what
- 2:33Speaker 3: everybody's rapping.
- 2:34Speaker 4: About, right, That's it.
- 2:37Speaker 2: That's what always happens though, Right like when you first start,
- 2:39Speaker 2: you always just go right to like the stuff that
- 2:42Speaker 2: you already hear, you know what I mean, And then
- 2:44Speaker 2: like you kind of start going away from it as
- 2:46Speaker 2: you like start discovering your own style and like even
- 2:49Speaker 2: like hearing yourself, how dumb you sound saying certain things?
- 2:52Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Like like you was mentioning earlier,
- 2:55Speaker 2: like just being in the gym as far as like recording,
- 2:58Speaker 2: you know what I meant?
- 3:00Speaker 5: For sure, you got anything you do. You gotta have consistency,
- 3:05Speaker 5: just every day just putting in work.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Facts. But looking back as when you started your content
- 3:12Speaker 3: and what you were rapping about when you started versus
- 3:14Speaker 3: what you are expressing now, what was it change? Like?
- 3:18Speaker 3: What what drew to that change?
- 3:21Speaker 1: I feel like I wasn't when I first started rapping.
- 3:23Speaker 5: I wasn't like rapping about some nonsense that I didn't
- 3:28Speaker 5: have no idea about. It was more on some kind
- 3:31Speaker 5: of like what I was saying earlier off camera.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It was like.
- 3:33Speaker 5: As far as knowing what song structure is and knowing
- 3:38Speaker 5: that going there and make a record, because we come
- 3:41Speaker 5: from the era, just like whether you wrapped or not,
- 3:44Speaker 5: you with your homeboys smoking gas or something, or in
- 3:48Speaker 5: a circle in the garage or outside on the block
- 3:50Speaker 5: or something. You get high enough, everybody outside going to
- 3:54Speaker 5: turn into a rapper, you know what I'm saying. Everybody
- 3:56Speaker 5: jay Z growing up. You know, I grew up having
- 3:59Speaker 5: uncles who get drunk as hell. Next thing, you know,
- 4:01Speaker 5: they too freestyle.
- 4:02Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 4:03Speaker 2: It's funny because it always started like that. And then
- 4:05Speaker 2: when y'all actually like get like a little stick mic,
- 4:08Speaker 2: you know, something like that that blue everybody go inside.
- 4:12Speaker 2: You start seeing who starts leaving the room because they're like,
- 4:15Speaker 2: all right, it was cool when we was outside, you know,
- 4:17Speaker 2: but now that we're inside and actually got to do it,
- 4:19Speaker 2: it ain't cool no more. And then the group gets
- 4:21Speaker 2: smaller and smaller, and it becomes.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Like two or three dudes.
- 4:24Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying that.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I was actually forced to rap really because.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Like really I always had music in my blood because
- 4:32Speaker 5: I've been playing the drums since I was like probably
- 4:35Speaker 5: like my mom and dad gave me a drum set.
- 4:37Speaker 5: I was like eighteen months almost two years old. So
- 4:40Speaker 5: when I was like five six seven years old, I
- 4:42Speaker 5: played a church. You know, you know you're granted your
- 4:45Speaker 5: mom take you to church nine am. Shit, I'm a
- 4:47Speaker 5: little five year old on the drum at the nine
- 4:49Speaker 5: am service. So and it's funny because it's crazy that
- 4:53Speaker 5: church that I grew up going to is starting to
- 4:55Speaker 5: play drums at the past of that church. His son
- 4:59Speaker 5: is like this big Instagram like viral sensation. He like
- 5:04Speaker 5: he's a preacher, and you know what I'm saying, he
- 5:06Speaker 5: goes around the world. So I don't know, Like I said,
- 5:08Speaker 5: I don't feel like nothing is coincidence.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Life be full circle.
- 5:12Speaker 2: No facts, it always comes together, especially like kind of
- 5:16Speaker 2: like you were saying, Joe, like when you make that transition,
- 5:19Speaker 2: like it's not just a random thing or like you
- 5:22Speaker 2: can necessarily pinpoint it. Sometimes it's just like as you
- 5:25Speaker 2: keep going through the music stuff, like jac was saying earlier,
- 5:29Speaker 2: like and I felt him when he was saying it,
- 5:31Speaker 2: because like when you do the music thing, especially when
- 5:33Speaker 2: you're in it for music, you go in think and
- 5:36Speaker 2: everybody's just on the up and though you know what
- 5:38Speaker 2: I mean, like you think you take people at face value, like, oh,
- 5:42Speaker 2: you say you're gonna do this?
- 5:43Speaker 1: Okay?
- 5:43Speaker 4: Cool.
- 5:44Speaker 3: And one of the points that I want to make
- 5:46Speaker 3: out there, that I want to make here is one
- 5:48Speaker 3: thing and that I know about you. It's all these
- 5:51Speaker 3: glamorous options and opportunities. It's not something you're drawn to
- 5:57Speaker 3: because you already know and you look at something and
- 6:01Speaker 3: it's like, okay.
- 6:03Speaker 4: With the music.
- 6:04Speaker 2: It'd be funny seeing what people react to as far
- 6:07Speaker 2: as like what they think is you doing your thing
- 6:10Speaker 2: versus what is actually you doing your thing?
- 6:13Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Like, as you kind of get deeper into it and
- 6:16Speaker 2: you see, Okay, this is how people actually make money
- 6:19Speaker 2: at this, This is how people actually grow.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Once you figure that out and you kind.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Of see like dang, like what people think is the
- 6:26Speaker 2: part that is like the win or whatever. It don't
- 6:29Speaker 2: be that, it always be something else.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, because.
- 6:32Speaker 5: Most people you'll find out you'll learn, Like like I
- 6:35Speaker 5: said earlier, like when you get into something like this,
- 6:38Speaker 5: like you get into it because the love of it,
- 6:40Speaker 5: and at the same time, when you know you love
- 6:43Speaker 5: something and you could possibly help change your family, friends
- 6:46Speaker 5: and everybody loves trajectory in life. It's like, I'm not
- 6:49Speaker 5: trying to be one of those forty year old forty
- 6:52Speaker 5: five year old nine to five workers every day of
- 6:54Speaker 5: where he got to go home and get drunk at
- 6:56Speaker 5: the bar because he miserable and he make all the
- 6:58Speaker 5: money in the world, but he's not happy with his life.
- 7:01Speaker 5: He's mad, got a wife at home bitching and complaining.
- 7:05Speaker 5: He don't like his job, he don't like his boss,
- 7:08Speaker 5: he don't eat, or he might be the boss and
- 7:10Speaker 5: don't like what he's doing.
- 7:11Speaker 1: He's just doing it because you have to. I'm not
- 7:13Speaker 1: gonna die and be that.
- 7:15Speaker 5: I'm gonna die doing what I love to do and
- 7:18Speaker 5: that I know I can make, I can make, I
- 7:21Speaker 5: can make something happen with I'm I'm not the type
- 7:23Speaker 5: of person that see that's why I clash with like
- 7:26Speaker 5: my father, like he was the man that can go
- 7:29Speaker 5: and build you a house and a home with his hands.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Like I give credit to people like my brother A. J.
- 7:35Speaker 5: All the time, like boy, you good boy, you know
- 7:37Speaker 5: how to you know how to fix this?
- 7:38Speaker 1: Do that?
- 7:39Speaker 3: Do that?
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'll be like, boy, that's the type of ship my
- 7:40Speaker 1: dad wanted me to do.
- 7:42Speaker 5: But it's like I know what I'm capable of and
- 7:46Speaker 5: what I'm not capable of. So when I know or
- 7:48Speaker 5: feel like I know, that's just not me, I won't
- 7:51Speaker 5: even try it. I'm not the type of person that
- 7:53Speaker 5: will try put any effort of time into.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Anything that I know. I don't think I can do that,
- 7:59Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But that's what I'm That's what I was kind of
- 8:03Speaker 3: alluding to. It's like the realization exactly, your realization, your
- 8:08Speaker 3: realization when you see that situation, you're like, this is
- 8:12Speaker 3: exactly what I do.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Are you in there?
- 8:14Speaker 5: We all in this to get paid eventually take care
- 8:16Speaker 5: of our family. But it's like I tell AJ all
- 8:19Speaker 5: the time. If my kids, my mother, my brothers, and
- 8:21Speaker 5: said all my girl.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Everybody was cool, I would do music for free.
- 8:26Speaker 5: But the thing is when you got a village and
- 8:27Speaker 5: people you got to take care of, Like my girl
- 8:30Speaker 5: won't even let me be comfortable doing music.
- 8:33Speaker 1: She fucking around having the light bill duer. This going
- 8:36Speaker 1: on and.
- 8:38Speaker 5: She's like, I don't give a funk about no music,
- 8:40Speaker 5: and they believe in me wholeheartedly. They don't help me
- 8:43Speaker 5: pay for studio time videos. This Woo woo spent our
- 8:47Speaker 5: last But then when you got real life going on
- 8:50Speaker 5: and you got everything else around you going on, you're
- 8:53Speaker 5: gonna see you like, are you in this ship because
- 8:55Speaker 5: you want to live the lifestyle?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Or you in this because you really love the music?
- 8:58Speaker 3: Do you think that's a big part of music today
- 9:01Speaker 3: is there's a lot of artists that don't have that realization.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I think, like kind of off of what you're saying, Like,
- 9:09Speaker 2: I just think like there's artists that like they're on
- 9:12Speaker 2: that line or like they fall on either side of
- 9:15Speaker 2: the line of like are you taking this serious or not?
- 9:17Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Because another thing we was
- 9:19Speaker 2: talking about earlier was like collaborating this stuff, you know
- 9:22Speaker 2: what I mean. Like sometimes you're like, yo, like you
- 9:25Speaker 2: should want to work with more artists and stuff, and
- 9:27Speaker 2: it's like you be trying, you know what I mean,
- 9:30Speaker 2: But it's like when you're really putting in the work
- 9:32Speaker 2: and you know, like cause the thing that I always
- 9:35Speaker 2: find funny, bro is when people try to tell you
- 9:37Speaker 2: like they got X, Y, and Z going on, Like
- 9:39Speaker 2: if everybody don't got stuff going on, you know what
- 9:42Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like, yeah, they think they got different a
- 9:47Speaker 2: different set of problems or something.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It's like, bro, we ahole time. They sitting there next
- 9:50Speaker 1: to you better than me, but you're here with me.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, that makes sense.
- 9:55Speaker 3: That has bro it's like.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You're trying to figure it out, just like I am, exactly.
- 10:00Speaker 3: And it's like, bro, like if y'all wanted to, I
- 10:03Speaker 3: wouldn't be there, exactly.
- 10:04Speaker 4: You can be too cool to try to figure it out.
- 10:06Speaker 5: And if you if you wasn't on the same level, man,
- 10:09Speaker 5: you felt like you was really See, you can act
- 10:11Speaker 5: like you bigger than us, but you know deep down
- 10:13Speaker 5: in your heart you're not, because if that was the case,
- 10:15Speaker 5: you wouldn't even answer a phone call right now, you
- 10:18Speaker 5: see what I'm saying. So it's like that, But that's
- 10:21Speaker 5: just life. And I had to learn to stop taking
- 10:23Speaker 5: that type stuff, especially in the business where nobody's gonna
- 10:27Speaker 5: take you serious until.
- 10:28Speaker 1: They have to take you serious facts, you know what
- 10:30Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 10:30Speaker 5: And some people are blessed enough to have the dessertment
- 10:34Speaker 5: and have the vision to see what you see, but
- 10:36Speaker 5: everybody don't. It's like I say, he didn't put that
- 10:39Speaker 5: in there, He put it in you, so he can't
- 10:41Speaker 5: expect for them to see it.
- 10:42Speaker 2: No facts, I'll be feeling like another thing that's like
- 10:46Speaker 2: super special that people be having sometimes that they waste
- 10:49Speaker 2: is the like just the magnetism where people just want
- 10:53Speaker 2: to support them. Like you know how sometimes you meet
- 10:55Speaker 2: certain people that they just got that like thing about
- 10:58Speaker 2: them that no matter what they do, always succeeds because
- 11:01Speaker 2: people are always down to support them. And when you
- 11:03Speaker 2: see people like that kind of like not living up
- 11:07Speaker 2: to what they really could be doing, it's like, oh man, bro,
- 11:10Speaker 2: like you got the people in your corner. All you
- 11:11Speaker 2: got to do is the work, you know what I mean?
- 11:13Speaker 2: Like people be the other way around. They got it
- 11:15Speaker 2: work and they get the people in their corner, you know.
- 11:17Speaker 5: But don't get it twisted too though, because I've been
- 11:20Speaker 5: there and still, like I said, learning as I grow know,
- 11:23Speaker 5: because I know I'm not the only hungry, thirsty artists
- 11:27Speaker 5: that really want this shit facts. And it's like I
- 11:30Speaker 5: like to say, it's like with my granny, my oggenity,
- 11:32Speaker 5: same thing make you laugh, make you cry, keep saying
- 11:34Speaker 5: good morning, You're telling them to come, whether good or bad.
- 11:37Speaker 5: And I know a lot of time in life it's information.
- 11:41Speaker 5: A lot of people don't have the knowledge. It ain't
- 11:43Speaker 5: not because they don't want to do it. They're not serious,
- 11:46Speaker 5: they don't want to invest in theirselves, they don't know
- 11:49Speaker 5: the information. They don't have the knowledge, and then everybody
- 11:52Speaker 5: that's around them that who maybe can help them, they
- 11:55Speaker 5: don't either have the knowledge for real, for real.
- 11:57Speaker 4: So that's a good question.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Then, like, so what do you think is the thing
- 12:01Speaker 2: that's borrowing them from like taking that step to try
- 12:04Speaker 2: to figure it out because they're afraid.
- 12:08Speaker 3: That's too afraid of what.
- 12:11Speaker 5: It's not that you would be afraid too if you
- 12:14Speaker 5: had to go jump in a pond full of crocodile sharks,
- 12:17Speaker 5: snakes and rats and killers, robbers and perverts, and you
- 12:21Speaker 5: had to figure out how to maneuver through all of
- 12:23Speaker 5: that and do what you love and still balance your
- 12:26Speaker 5: at home life. If you're a real person, If you're
- 12:29Speaker 5: a real person trying to balance a real life and
- 12:34Speaker 5: a pond full of snakes and rats and sharks, it's
- 12:38Speaker 5: not easy, especially when you really came in this for
- 12:40Speaker 5: the love of it. You didn't come in here thinking, oh, like,
- 12:43Speaker 5: oh yeah, what can I go get over from over here?
- 12:46Speaker 1: He's like, damn, that's what it takes to make music.
- 12:48Speaker 5: If I'm a person who came up like me, I
- 12:51Speaker 5: didn't have nobody in my family that did music. No
- 12:53Speaker 5: did that ever went and like, I got a cousin
- 12:58Speaker 5: who pursued and still pursuing and acting played a couple
- 13:01Speaker 5: of background scenes in movies. You know, I got I
- 13:04Speaker 5: got some family members that did something with their life.
- 13:06Speaker 5: But when you don't have when you don't come from that,
- 13:09Speaker 5: and you don't grow from that and have anybody, what
- 13:11Speaker 5: does everybody always talk about in life, no matter what
- 13:13Speaker 5: business you're in, they had a what a mentor?
- 13:16Speaker 1: Oh how'd you get all? My mentor came and told
- 13:18Speaker 1: me and taught me this.
- 13:19Speaker 5: And if you don't have nobody a father or uncle,
- 13:23Speaker 5: a mom or anybody connected to something, and you just
- 13:26Speaker 5: jumping into something for the first time, you gonna make
- 13:28Speaker 5: a thousand and one mistakes, especially when you jump into
- 13:32Speaker 5: something that's full of people that just want to use
- 13:34Speaker 5: abuse and get over. This ain't no game that's like,
- 13:39Speaker 5: you gotta find your your your people that vibe with you,
- 13:42Speaker 5: connect with you, and that love you and want to.
- 13:44Speaker 3: But how do you how do you trust that like
- 13:47Speaker 3: they're genuine?
- 13:48Speaker 1: Though only time will tell.
- 13:50Speaker 5: But the thing is, everybody don't have the space, the time,
- 13:53Speaker 5: the mentor the financials to take these risks.
- 13:57Speaker 1: That's why.
- 13:58Speaker 3: So you take the risk.
- 14:00Speaker 5: You take the risk, but everybody ain't worth the risk.
- 14:02Speaker 5: You got to pick and choose. It's just like when
- 14:03Speaker 5: you pick your wife, or your girl, or your your friend. Everybody,
- 14:08Speaker 5: you're gonna have problems with everybody, everybody. It's about who
- 14:13Speaker 5: you willing to take risks with and who you willing
- 14:17Speaker 5: to fight through things with and get past things. If
- 14:20Speaker 5: that was the case, everybody would be married for thirty years,
- 14:22Speaker 5: everybody would be friends for thirty years, everybody would be
- 14:24Speaker 5: business partners for years. That's not the case. It's about
- 14:27Speaker 5: who is worth fighting for in your life.
- 14:29Speaker 2: And everybody ain't worth the risk, and everybody want to
- 14:31Speaker 2: take exactly But it's experienced that teaches you.
- 14:35Speaker 5: You got to take a bunch of else and last
- 14:37Speaker 5: experience that teaches you that no facts you do. I'm
- 14:39Speaker 5: not saying that, but everybody don't have the the the uncle, father,
- 14:45Speaker 5: mother that can that has time and financial freedom.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Like I did this. This is what happened. This is
- 14:51Speaker 3: what happens.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Learn books take you all to practice every day back
- 14:57Speaker 5: in all day we had to catch a ride or
- 15:00Speaker 5: the bike to practice because our mom and dad was
- 15:02Speaker 5: at work.
- 15:03Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying.
- 15:04Speaker 3: They didn't have the chance to drop us off.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Most of our parents are trying to survive, not invest
- 15:09Speaker 5: money into your dreaming goal.
- 15:11Speaker 1: They can't even afford that to keep lights and all
- 15:15Speaker 1: that every week.
- 15:16Speaker 5: So you think all everybody who's made it to where
- 15:19Speaker 5: we're trying to hit to had one hundred thousand dollars
- 15:21Speaker 5: to invest.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Facts dudes, rappers.
- 15:24Speaker 5: All of these dude that come from these so called
- 15:25Speaker 5: hoods and ghettos, and everybody got this. Oh I was
- 15:28Speaker 5: trapping before I made it. Oh I don't even like music.
- 15:32Speaker 5: I just had to do it for If you was
- 15:33Speaker 5: trapping and made all this money before music, if you
- 15:35Speaker 5: don't like music, why the fuck are you doing me?
- 15:38Speaker 5: You see what I'm trying to say.
- 15:39Speaker 4: That's what I was saying earlier too. With the people.
- 15:42Speaker 2: People think a certain thing is the success, but they
- 15:44Speaker 2: don't really know, Like they don't know somebody got five
- 15:47Speaker 2: hundred thousand dollars on this run of music that they're doing.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That they're just putting.
- 15:52Speaker 1: You don't know that Nigga came up off a settlement
- 15:53Speaker 1: because he got in.
- 15:54Speaker 3: A car accident exactly.
- 15:55Speaker 1: You don't know he got the neighborhood drug dealer putting the.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Bag up from it's possiblee a lot of.
- 16:00Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying.
- 16:01Speaker 5: You don't know people's story into they want you to
- 16:03Speaker 5: know exactly, and unless it's public.
- 16:06Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying, So we can all say anything.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And I get it.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Everybody has trust issues, everybody has trauma, scars, PTSD.
- 16:14Speaker 3: So it's good. It's good to the personal. What drives you.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Then doing what I know I can achieve, what I
- 16:23Speaker 5: love to do, what I won't wake up miserable doing,
- 16:26Speaker 5: and that I can help change my family's life. That's
- 16:29Speaker 5: what drives me. I can't sleep without thinking about it.
- 16:32Speaker 5: I can't eat without thinking about it. You see what
- 16:33Speaker 5: I'm trying to say. Even when I've one had moments
- 16:35Speaker 5: where I want to quit and say, fuck this fake
- 16:37Speaker 5: ass shit. I don't want to do this shit my heart,
- 16:39Speaker 5: my body, my mind, my soul, won't let me.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It just won't let me.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Can we ask you the same question?
- 16:47Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of like a little bit of what he's
- 16:49Speaker 2: saying too, Like I've always been the type that I
- 16:52Speaker 2: just can't like put my fate in somebody else's hands,
- 16:56Speaker 2: like with a regular type of job or like.
- 16:59Speaker 5: And it's not even I've been a regular because my
- 17:01Speaker 5: parents had regular jobs that fed me, put roof over
- 17:04Speaker 5: the head lights, bills, clothes enough, we had enough.
- 17:07Speaker 1: We didn't have everything, but we had enough.
- 17:09Speaker 5: My people sacrifice so I can go to school with
- 17:11Speaker 5: white people, so I can live in this area and
- 17:14Speaker 5: move away from where my family is from. I'm not
- 17:16Speaker 5: even from Florida. My dad and mom had strife in
- 17:21Speaker 5: their marriage because my mom would have made more money
- 17:25Speaker 5: living where we're from than moving here. My dad didn't
- 17:27Speaker 5: want me to grow up where I'm from and die
- 17:29Speaker 5: or go be in prison for the rest of my
- 17:31Speaker 5: life there, so he rather.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Said in Florida.
- 17:34Speaker 1: You see what I'm trying to say. So it ain't
- 17:36Speaker 1: it ain't even all about that. It's just people.
- 17:39Speaker 5: People only want to be real and realistic and realism
- 17:43Speaker 5: when it's beneficial and it was for somebody they love
- 17:46Speaker 5: or fuk with no.
- 17:47Speaker 3: But I mean, what drives you to keep wanting to
- 17:49Speaker 3: be an artist?
- 17:50Speaker 1: Because I love it?
- 17:51Speaker 5: It ain't nothing, it ain't there no deep this all
- 17:53Speaker 5: it's nothing deep like that.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I really love this ship.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Music first. That that that is it's.
- 18:02Speaker 1: It ain't really nothing.
- 18:03Speaker 3: More, that's it. That's all I'm asking is just for
- 18:06Speaker 3: the love of it.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I don't see myself doing nothing else.
- 18:08Speaker 3: That's it. That's that's that's the response. Yeah, And that's
- 18:11Speaker 3: all I want to know. Same thing for you is
- 18:14Speaker 3: the drive.
- 18:15Speaker 2: For me, it's always like just trying to like do
- 18:17Speaker 2: what I feel like it is a perfect song, which
- 18:19Speaker 2: is just that's what I'm chasing, you know what I mean,
- 18:22Speaker 2: Like just keep making music, keep making music. It's perfective
- 18:25Speaker 2: where it's like you got that one song that you're like, man,
- 18:27Speaker 2: every element.
- 18:28Speaker 5: It ain't even about even just the music aspect for me,
- 18:30Speaker 5: because I tell Aja all the time when i'm when
- 18:33Speaker 5: it's able to happen, I want, I'm I'm an artist artist.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I'm hey, bro you've got.
- 18:38Speaker 5: A video idea you need you want to Oh, let
- 18:40Speaker 5: me come and help you direct it, put it together.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Hey broh, you got a song? Oh hell yeah? Let's collapse.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Let's do I want to be. I'm that type of person.
- 18:48Speaker 5: I'm I'm, I'm It's deeper from me, the joy in
- 18:50Speaker 5: the field that I get just talking about it and
- 18:52Speaker 5: doing it.
- 18:53Speaker 1: It's just like like, if it.
- 18:55Speaker 5: Was up to me, I would trap this dude in
- 18:59Speaker 5: the studio twenty four seven and he would never be
- 19:01Speaker 5: able to leave.
- 19:02Speaker 1: But we would both have to women like, girl, calm down,
- 19:07Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying.
- 19:09Speaker 5: But when you have a village and people back to
- 19:11Speaker 5: that that support you, man too, and what you got
- 19:14Speaker 5: the love of it, and they see your passionate drive, Like.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Like, I know, I got people in my corner that
- 19:19Speaker 1: believe in me.
- 19:20Speaker 3: I can relate. I'm not an artist, but I have
- 19:23Speaker 3: a love for music. I just have a love for
- 19:26Speaker 3: music and the way it's made and the way it
- 19:28Speaker 3: sounds and the way it makes you feel. And that's
- 19:31Speaker 3: why I just like being involved with it. I don't
- 19:34Speaker 3: even know. I mean, you're DJ though, so it's like yeah,
- 19:36Speaker 3: but you know, I don't even get nothing out of it,
- 19:40Speaker 3: but I know what the feeling of playing good music
- 19:44Speaker 3: does to people.
- 19:46Speaker 5: But see as a listener and as a creator, it's
- 19:48Speaker 5: a little different too, because that's why you earlier what
- 19:51Speaker 5: you were saying about how you start off it's ten
- 19:54Speaker 5: fifteen homies, then it's eight, then it's five, then it's two.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Then it's just you be.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Because if I didn't fall in love and I didn't
- 20:03Speaker 5: love the actual.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Process, yeah exactly, I would have quit.
- 20:07Speaker 5: So long ago, just the process of me and AJ
- 20:11Speaker 5: going in the studio record and working on the song,
- 20:13Speaker 5: going to figure out a video idea of creating us
- 20:16Speaker 5: being in that energy. Margaret, It's like when we as
- 20:19Speaker 5: kids on the basketball court or something, your mama and
- 20:21Speaker 5: daddy had to tell you to get your ass in
- 20:22Speaker 5: the house, come eat.
- 20:24Speaker 1: It's that ship.
- 20:24Speaker 5: You gotta drag me out the studio and say, hey, JC,
- 20:26Speaker 5: go get something to eat.
- 20:28Speaker 2: And you know, like in the beginning too, like you
- 20:29Speaker 2: would always invite like a home mee like.
- 20:31Speaker 1: For sessions just don't get me stack and they.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Would just come one time and they would never come back, like, oh,
- 20:36Speaker 2: this is what really going on? They think it's like
- 20:38Speaker 2: in the movies, you know that everybody's popping bottles. The
- 20:41Speaker 2: song is recorded in one take. We all high five,
- 20:44Speaker 2: and that's what Drake said.
- 20:45Speaker 5: He said, I stopped he said, I'm picking through some
- 20:47Speaker 5: shit like that, not verbatim, like about allowing people to
- 20:51Speaker 5: come record women in the studio because most people you
- 20:54Speaker 5: bring to the studio, they think it's gonna be a
- 20:56Speaker 5: game winner every night. Yeah, and that's not how it goes,
- 21:00Speaker 5: you see what I'm saying. So that's not really how
- 21:02Speaker 5: it goes. And I talked to j about that type
- 21:05Speaker 5: of shit. We talk about that all the time, and
- 21:07Speaker 5: it's like every night ain't gonna be a successful night.
- 21:12Speaker 5: I used to we talk about I used to pride myself,
- 21:14Speaker 5: me and all Lomans used to pride myself and going
- 21:16Speaker 5: to the studio. If we're in there for two, three,
- 21:18Speaker 5: four hours, I need to at least do it did
- 21:21Speaker 5: three folks.
- 21:22Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying. Pride myself rushing hurrying up
- 21:26Speaker 1: these days.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Bro Ever, since I've been taking my time going to
- 21:30Speaker 5: the studio, laying down, it might just be faux balls.
- 21:33Speaker 1: It might just be a melody with no words.
- 21:35Speaker 2: It's funny too, because, like them first, the first few sessions,
- 21:38Speaker 2: you're almost like trying to convince the engineer you're nice,
- 21:41Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Like when you transition from like let Holmes.
- 21:45Speaker 5: It's not even trying to convince it that you're nice.
- 21:46Speaker 5: You on some shiit like you ain't because I done
- 21:49Speaker 5: got cringe being in the.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Studio with other pew and other artists.
- 21:53Speaker 4: But that's what I'm saying.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Like when you go there, you're like, noah, nah, I
- 21:57Speaker 2: want to I want them to think I'm a real artist.
- 21:59Speaker 1: You know what I mean exactly.
- 22:01Speaker 2: It's funny, man Like, just like you're saying, like the
- 22:03Speaker 2: progression you go through, like in the beginning, you're trying
- 22:05Speaker 2: to make like five songs in one session. Then like
- 22:08Speaker 2: you fast forward ten years later and you might be
- 22:11Speaker 2: super happy that you came up with a dope melody
- 22:13Speaker 2: that session and taking my you're like, dangn bro, this
- 22:16Speaker 2: melody is insane. I can't wait to finish it. Like
- 22:18Speaker 2: you can't even think of about success like that when
- 22:19Speaker 2: you first start.
- 22:21Speaker 5: I'm honest, ever since I've been recording like that, just
- 22:24Speaker 5: taking my time, not rushing when I don't feel it,
- 22:26Speaker 5: and because I'm not in here just making up fairy
- 22:29Speaker 5: tales all of my music. A lot of the times,
- 22:31Speaker 5: I'm trying to get better at that because some people
- 22:34Speaker 5: in your life they'll try to like they can't tell
- 22:37Speaker 5: the difference from the two, you know.
- 22:38Speaker 1: What I'm saying.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Yeah, So it's like I pride myself on being a
- 22:42Speaker 5: realist and being a human being, a real person and artists,
- 22:47Speaker 5: not just all a willy nilly shit. So it's like
- 22:50Speaker 5: I can't even record every day if I wanted to,
- 22:53Speaker 5: because I need to continue to live, continue to thrive,
- 22:57Speaker 5: to continue to go through adversity, continue to all that.
- 23:00Speaker 5: So when I feel it, I feel it, I'll lay
- 23:02Speaker 5: it down. I might just got these eight bars, all right.
- 23:04Speaker 5: AJ will come back to it later. And then ever
- 23:08Speaker 5: since I started recording like that, in the last two years,
- 23:11Speaker 5: we've been making some of the best music that we've
- 23:14Speaker 5: ever made.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Nah. Facts, it's definitely like all those That's the thing
- 23:18Speaker 2: that people don't understand about, like doing the failures and
- 23:21Speaker 2: going through the grind, Like that's how you learn how
- 23:23Speaker 2: to do the good stuff, because like you're getting the
- 23:24Speaker 2: wax stuff out the way, Like, bro, oh, I.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Did it like this.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I used to have to get fronted.
- 23:30Speaker 5: Bro, I don't spend so much money trying to do
- 23:32Speaker 5: this shit I'm talking about. I'm at Plush with my
- 23:33Speaker 5: brother AJ and them, Uncle Mike lu All of them.
- 23:37Speaker 5: I'm at missed it be everybody, uncle might be we all.
- 23:41Speaker 5: I'm at the studio seven days a week. To the
- 23:43Speaker 5: point where I started going broke. I'm talking about arguing
- 23:46Speaker 5: with my girl this da aj I come up there,
- 23:50Speaker 5: aj let me do two three hours front me an hour.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I pay him the rest days later. Some shit like that.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I ain't just started like yesterday. It's just yesterday.
- 23:58Speaker 5: When I started, I didn't know none of the business,
- 24:02Speaker 5: and they know everything. Like dude, I just got my
- 24:05Speaker 5: LLC for my music going on two years now. Facts
- 24:08Speaker 5: like it took me ten years just to learn, like
- 24:11Speaker 5: simple ship, like what a mechanical licensese is? What is
- 24:14Speaker 5: a sound exchange? And you see what I'm trying to say.
- 24:17Speaker 5: You had to spend thousands of dollars hours time taking ls.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Everybody not with that.
- 24:26Speaker 3: That That's the point that I made earlier. It's like
- 24:30Speaker 3: you meet an artist and they have no fucking idea
- 24:33Speaker 3: about any of that, and you're like.
- 24:34Speaker 2: All right, Yeah, it's something that we always talk about
- 24:37Speaker 2: here too, Like bro, you're gonna have to You're gonna
- 24:40Speaker 2: have to pay that tax or get them ten thousand hours.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Either way like that. If you don't.
- 24:44Speaker 2: If you don't go to college, whatever whatever route you're
- 24:47Speaker 2: gonna take, you're still gonna have to sacrifice.
- 24:50Speaker 4: And you're still gonna come out.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Of sacrificing money, time or energy, and it's gonna be
- 24:55Speaker 5: all of them and the older I get front.
- 25:00Speaker 1: We all thought it was about money.
- 25:02Speaker 3: But you can't do anything for free.
- 25:03Speaker 1: The time and the energy.
- 25:05Speaker 3: But you can't. But also you can't do it, you know,
- 25:08Speaker 3: and you.
- 25:09Speaker 5: Can't you can't keep doing you especially can't do nothing
- 25:11Speaker 5: for free forever too.
- 25:12Speaker 2: That is something because like I was talking jobs, got internship,
- 25:16Speaker 2: I was talking with my father in law the other
- 25:17Speaker 2: day and this goes perfectly with the music things. It
- 25:20Speaker 2: is music too, like just about how like when you
- 25:23Speaker 2: when people say you can't make music like they used to, Like,
- 25:27Speaker 2: it's true, bro, Like you're not going to get twelve
- 25:29Speaker 2: guys that are just down to do the music just
- 25:32Speaker 2: for fun and see what happens, because dog like the
- 25:35Speaker 2: way the way the economy is not the way things
- 25:37Speaker 2: are way.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Never that was never happening, That's all.
- 25:42Speaker 5: And I don't want to get too deep on hair
- 25:43Speaker 5: because I'm still trying to make it.
- 25:45Speaker 2: But I'm just even saying like from back in the
- 25:47Speaker 2: day to people that they actually had to play the instruments.
- 25:50Speaker 2: You feel what I'm saying, like you had to get
- 25:52Speaker 2: a band again, that's not the artist fault.
- 25:54Speaker 5: What it is is it's not even that's none of
- 25:57Speaker 5: our fault. That's the that's the culture, and that's the
- 25:59Speaker 5: support orders the fans because follow me now, your favorite
- 26:03Speaker 5: artists probably still should have been hot today, but because
- 26:07Speaker 5: he doesn't get on ato w eights and this type
- 26:09Speaker 5: of melody or beat.
- 26:11Speaker 1: It's not hard with artists.
- 26:13Speaker 5: We try to do what we love to do, but
- 26:15Speaker 5: we're also conformed into what the gatekeepers, the bloggers, the fans.
- 26:23Speaker 5: It's like you come in, Oh, this is different.
- 26:26Speaker 1: We never heard this. They get used to it.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Were tired of hearing the same shit. You do something different.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Oh we want that old you.
- 26:34Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying.
- 26:35Speaker 5: It's like what Drake said again, it's like, you don't
- 26:37Speaker 5: miss the music I used to make. You missed the
- 26:39Speaker 5: times and moments you was going through the memories, the
- 26:42Speaker 5: memories from that music. You see what I'm saying. So
- 26:44Speaker 5: as an artist, you can't win. You ain't gonna make
- 26:46Speaker 5: everybody happy. So that's why I'm just gonna make music
- 26:49Speaker 5: that I like and that I want to make, and
- 26:51Speaker 5: don't put me in a box because I'm.
- 26:53Speaker 3: A human people who enjoy it.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I'm a human.
- 26:57Speaker 5: I have all emotions, so I make sure all them
- 26:59Speaker 5: emotions on a rap song.
- 27:01Speaker 1: So don't put me in a box. You're human too.
- 27:03Speaker 5: Some days you happy, some days you said, some days
- 27:05Speaker 5: you're angry, some days you're mad, some days you excited, some.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Days you weary. I feel that way too as an artist.
- 27:12Speaker 1: So don't put me in.
- 27:12Speaker 5: The box and say, oh, you should just make this
- 27:14Speaker 5: kind of song. You should just make that.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Especially when you're still on to come up to It's
- 27:19Speaker 2: like if if you ain't there yet, like try different stuff,
- 27:24Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like there'd be so many
- 27:26Speaker 2: people that are just so stuck, like nah, this is
- 27:28Speaker 2: like it's like, bro.
- 27:29Speaker 4: It's not working.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I mean, at least hasn't you know, made any movement
- 27:34Speaker 2: the way you feel it should have.
- 27:35Speaker 4: So you know, said, I rough.
- 27:37Speaker 5: For thirteen years before I made my first dollar, So
- 27:39Speaker 5: why can't you Ain't nobody bigger than.
- 27:41Speaker 3: The program in fact, but there's a lot of careers
- 27:45Speaker 3: like that where people like like you said, they locked
- 27:46Speaker 3: themselves in the box.
- 27:47Speaker 1: He ain't making it with them. They're thirty.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Once they try to branch out of that, it's like,
- 27:52Speaker 3: oh no, no, that's not what we fuck with you
- 27:55Speaker 3: exactly with you.
- 27:56Speaker 1: It's the fans, yeah, support it, it's not the artist.
- 27:59Speaker 2: That's the cool thing about nowadays though, that like you
- 28:02Speaker 2: can just have different pockets of fans because different different people,
- 28:05Speaker 2: even different countries, like different stuff, you know what I mean.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Like there's certain songs that I have that like they
- 28:11Speaker 2: just get mad played like in random places that I'm like,
- 28:13Speaker 2: what the heck can they say.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Them Europeans appreciate us in our music more.
- 28:18Speaker 1: That's what facts I.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Feel like, just as they say, oh it is this
- 28:21Speaker 3: guy's top ten in the Netherlands right now.
- 28:24Speaker 5: See that's crazy. You can't even get support in your
- 28:27Speaker 5: own cities, you know what I'm saying.
- 28:28Speaker 1: So it's like facts.
- 28:29Speaker 2: But even even though I'd be like, bro, it's just
- 28:32Speaker 2: it's not they vibe, you know what I'm saying, Like.
- 28:33Speaker 1: The world bigger than the same exactly exactly.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Bro.
- 28:36Speaker 2: That's why, like a lot of artists, I feel get
- 28:39Speaker 2: stuck into like just thinking about the city and like
- 28:42Speaker 2: they want their best friends to like their music.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It's like, bro, if your best friend they don't even
- 28:46Speaker 1: know music.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Yeah, like, who cares?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Bro?
- 28:48Speaker 4: Like if the two.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Guys around you don't like your music, and that really
- 28:51Speaker 2: affects you, I don't know what to tell you.
- 28:55Speaker 5: They don't like your music, you probably don't like it
- 28:56Speaker 5: neither before they don't like it.
- 28:58Speaker 2: But even like sometimes they don't even like that kind
- 29:01Speaker 2: of music, you know what I'm saying. Like even like
- 29:02Speaker 2: some people don't listen to music, you know what I mean, artists.
- 29:07Speaker 5: I may not do country music, but I know what
- 29:09Speaker 5: country music is supposed to sound like and what sounds
- 29:11Speaker 5: good or not. Yeah, but most people are like that,
- 29:14Speaker 5: and most people. You gotta think about it. We come
- 29:16Speaker 5: up in a time that's so judgmental. You got to
- 29:18Speaker 5: think about it back in all day when we were younger,
- 29:22Speaker 5: like you could you people Now today's can social media.
- 29:25Speaker 5: Everybody's open with it. Back then, you had to hide
- 29:27Speaker 5: that you love Jesus. You had to hide that you
- 29:30Speaker 5: went to church. I was I was fifteen sixteen in
- 29:33Speaker 5: high school high and that I played the drums.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I didn't want people to know I know drums, you
- 29:37Speaker 1: se I'm saying, we was young, dumb. Yeah, fact, you
- 29:39Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So we just live in the.
- 29:41Speaker 5: World where it's just like, ah, everybody wants to be
- 29:43Speaker 5: too cool. Everybody cool, and it be people that ain't cool,
- 29:47Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Like, so you just gotta do what you love to do.
- 29:51Speaker 2: That's why being an artist is so dope, because like
- 29:53Speaker 2: you're really like trying stuff in front of everybody, bro,
- 29:56Speaker 2: and sometimes it's just be super whack.
- 29:58Speaker 1: That they were scared to be trial but they're judge you.
- 30:00Speaker 4: On no fact.
- 30:01Speaker 2: They'll talk about it all day, but they'll never even
- 30:04Speaker 2: try to do one thing like that, you know what
- 30:05Speaker 2: I mean. But it's like, man, like you said, bro,
- 30:09Speaker 2: you don't worry about that. It's bigger than the city.
- 30:11Speaker 2: There's everybody out there that you're trying to reach.
- 30:13Speaker 5: Because I love my city. It's just it's just a
- 30:15Speaker 5: part of the game, like everybody has to go through it.
- 30:17Speaker 5: Nobody's bigger than the program, I think, And.
- 30:20Speaker 3: That's why I take people what.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Not to take personal, what to and not take personally, And.
- 30:24Speaker 3: That's why people move to the cities where you have
- 30:26Speaker 3: more opportunity like Atlanta, La, New York.
- 30:29Speaker 5: Nobody ever gets love from where they're from, like that
- 30:33Speaker 5: we know that.
- 30:34Speaker 2: In fact, even the people that be from those places,
- 30:36Speaker 2: they be saying that they didn't take off until X,
- 30:39Speaker 2: Y and Z or somewhere else or something like nobody's
- 30:41Speaker 2: bigger than the program. I think that dj MV was
- 30:45Speaker 2: saying he broke. I think Juvenile in New York and
- 30:49Speaker 2: like really started getting the records hot in New York,
- 30:52Speaker 2: and that was like a big thing for Juvenile to
- 30:54Speaker 2: like blow up, and you would you wouldn't think like
- 30:57Speaker 2: New York, like they're playing Juvenile, But it's.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Get what you're trying to say.
- 31:00Speaker 5: But Juvenile is a different situation because juveniles from New Orleans,
- 31:05Speaker 5: my my, my, I got family from New Orleans, my
- 31:07Speaker 5: father's side.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Juvenile was already like buzzing and big as hell and
- 31:13Speaker 1: that region, you know what I'm saying. So before America.
- 31:18Speaker 2: He was like he had the region, but once he got.
- 31:23Speaker 4: What I'm saying for sure for sure, and it's like
- 31:25Speaker 4: it's just it's a weird connection.
- 31:27Speaker 2: But even like you were saying before, like if it's
- 31:29Speaker 2: something dope, it's going to be dope.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Like it don't matter where it's from.
- 31:32Speaker 3: It that's it.
- 31:33Speaker 1: That's the problem with social media.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Everybody's too busy comparing their story and they situation to
- 31:37Speaker 5: the next.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Social media has everybody feeling like that.
- 31:40Speaker 3: You think it's over saturated at this point, social media
- 31:42Speaker 3: and artists.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Everything's oversaturated because I can say, uh, cooking with Kayas
- 31:47Speaker 5: are oversaturated or workout enthusiasm.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I'm okay.
- 31:52Speaker 5: I love to see everybody chasing their dream. That's what
- 31:55Speaker 5: it is about. It's not about that.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Even the podcast game, everybody says it's oversaturated. Everybody say,
- 32:01Speaker 2: don't put a tax on podcast mics, you know what,
- 32:04Speaker 2: that's the joke going around.
- 32:05Speaker 1: The only reason why people and I.
- 32:07Speaker 5: Mean oversaturated, the only reason why it's why to say
- 32:10Speaker 5: it's oversaturated because now more than ever when they say
- 32:13Speaker 5: it's like one hundred and fifty thousand songs uploaded the
- 32:16Speaker 5: Spotify day.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Facts.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Back then, you couldn't do something like that, you know
- 32:20Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 32:21Speaker 2: And that's kind of what I was saying before with
- 32:22Speaker 2: the band, like you needed a band to even get
- 32:25Speaker 2: to that point, to even get to record some music,
- 32:28Speaker 2: like now like we don't even need that.
- 32:30Speaker 5: Well, these days, it's more like popularity because and back
- 32:33Speaker 5: in the nineties, you could go see Bobby Brown and
- 32:35Speaker 5: those guys or boys to manage something, go sing to
- 32:39Speaker 5: an A and R manager on the corner in their
- 32:41Speaker 5: neighborhood and get a record deal like that because it
- 32:44Speaker 5: was more of a talent over popularity thing.
- 32:46Speaker 1: So now it's more popularity over.
- 32:48Speaker 5: Talent yea facts, So that's why you have it's oversaturated.
- 32:53Speaker 3: That following.
- 32:54Speaker 1: It gives you the bunch of boyshit ass music.
- 32:57Speaker 3: It's like Big Sean. Big Sean got his break wrapping
- 32:59Speaker 3: to Kanye and elevated. It didn't matter how many followers
- 33:02Speaker 3: he had.
- 33:02Speaker 1: That's just all uh, that's this new age stuff. But
- 33:06Speaker 1: keep into the policy of that.
- 33:07Speaker 5: But what what I'm saying is that's the reason why
- 33:09Speaker 5: it says oversaturated is because everybody is. Back then you
- 33:12Speaker 5: couldn't just access it accessible as easy as it is today.
- 33:15Speaker 5: So it's like everybody can do it.
- 33:18Speaker 3: That's why labels and people who could offer these people deals,
- 33:22Speaker 3: they want to know you have a following, Yeah, and
- 33:24Speaker 3: that gives you leverage over your skills.
- 33:27Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's just it. Ain't that ain't You don't
- 33:31Speaker 5: even got to be wrapping. You could be painting houses
- 33:34Speaker 5: and we could talk about all of the ship that
- 33:37Speaker 5: goes into every business for days. But it's just I
- 33:40Speaker 5: know one thing, consistency and keep going to believe it
- 33:43Speaker 5: in yourself.
- 33:45Speaker 3: At the end of the day.
- 33:45Speaker 2: That's that's really all it is. Bro, Like you're not
- 33:47Speaker 2: going to hit a home run until you go to
- 33:49Speaker 2: the plate.
- 33:50Speaker 1: It's like, oh, you you miss as many shots you
- 33:53Speaker 1: don't take.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Michael Scott, Wayne Gretzky.
- 34:00Speaker 2: But yeah, man, before before we wrap up, man, I
- 34:04Speaker 2: know you just dropped your project. Definitely wants you to
- 34:07Speaker 2: shout out the name of the project. I want you
- 34:11Speaker 2: to kind of like describe the vibe, like however you
- 34:14Speaker 2: feel the best way to describe it as you know
- 34:16Speaker 2: what I mean, Like if it's if it's with colors,
- 34:21Speaker 2: if it's with with scenery, if it's with smells, whatever.
- 34:24Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Like like, we got our
- 34:26Speaker 2: homie mic back there, and he always he always sees
- 34:29Speaker 2: music and colors, you know what I mean.
- 34:31Speaker 5: That's that's that's one of that's one of my bros
- 34:33Speaker 5: who I started this shit with. Yeah, yeah, you mentioned
- 34:35Speaker 5: aj I met all of these guys around the same time. Man,
- 34:38Speaker 5: I'm like, I said, I didn't this is just not
- 34:42Speaker 5: like overnight, you know what I'm saying. And like I said,
- 34:45Speaker 5: a lot of people that I know that's been doing
- 34:46Speaker 5: this got ten fifteen years on me.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I know dudes who's doing big things. Now. I went
- 34:51Speaker 1: to school with he was rapping when I was in
- 34:53Speaker 1: eleventh grade. You feel me?
- 34:55Speaker 5: So my thing is, bro, if you love it, if
- 34:58Speaker 5: you put the time, man, you put the craft you
- 35:00Speaker 5: believe in, and you work at it, get better.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Just go do it.
- 35:04Speaker 3: You got some bangers though, I'm not gonna lie.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Just time in the gym project. It's Lost and Found.
- 35:12Speaker 1: It's I believe it's eight songs.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Is there a motivation behind it? Is there like a
- 35:17Speaker 3: story behind it?
- 35:18Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 35:18Speaker 5: Basically, Uh, the song is called I got a song
- 35:24Speaker 5: on there called when I'm Around AKA like lost and Found.
- 35:28Speaker 1: So it's analogy.
- 35:29Speaker 5: It's just an analogy like my heart being fucked up
- 35:33Speaker 5: and lost, you know what I'm saying, and just going
- 35:35Speaker 5: through all of these trial and errors and emotional feelings
- 35:38Speaker 5: and family and friendship, and you know that's all it's really,
- 35:43Speaker 5: you know, you know, it's just me giving so much
- 35:46Speaker 5: of myself because when you give so much of yourself
- 35:49Speaker 5: to people, it could eventually have you, you know, lost
- 35:52Speaker 5: and stuck in like, uh damn, what am I doing wrong?
- 35:55Speaker 5: Or what am I not doing right? And you you know,
- 35:58Speaker 5: mental illness is the big thing.
- 36:00Speaker 2: You could definitely lose yourself trying to satisfy a whole
- 36:02Speaker 2: bunch of different people and not really to.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Do friends, family, your kids, your mother, your brother, your sister, whoever.
- 36:10Speaker 5: Because especially when you like in a position I'm in,
- 36:13Speaker 5: I'm like the next I'm like the leader now that
- 36:15Speaker 5: my dad is dead and gone, and you know what
- 36:17Speaker 5: I'm saying, It's like I'm the person that everybody, even
- 36:21Speaker 5: my mother, who she's a big dog, but she still
- 36:24Speaker 5: looked to.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Me, and it's like, you know what I'm saying.
- 36:26Speaker 5: So I'm playing a role that it come with a
- 36:28Speaker 5: lot of pressure, and you're trying to do all of
- 36:30Speaker 5: this shit you put that in your music. Yeah, And
- 36:33Speaker 5: I'm really just getting started. I'm still I've been getting
- 36:36Speaker 5: better and learning more and more. I've got so slick
- 36:39Speaker 5: at knowing how to make music talking about something but
- 36:43Speaker 5: really talking about nothing.
- 36:44Speaker 3: There's a motion in it. I can hear what I'm saying,
- 36:46Speaker 3: I can hear the motion.
- 36:46Speaker 5: So I'm really just getting started on really telling my
- 36:49Speaker 5: story because I've for a while I had to learn
- 36:52Speaker 5: how to do that because, like I told you the beginning,
- 36:53Speaker 5: I'm still I'm still to this day learning song structure
- 36:57Speaker 5: and all of that. And like I said earlier, my
- 36:59Speaker 5: boy and AJ is the two people that helped me
- 37:03Speaker 5: learn a lot of that shit. Like half the time
- 37:05Speaker 5: I go into booth, I don't have no structure. I
- 37:07Speaker 5: just got a bunch of words or a bunch of melodies.
- 37:09Speaker 5: I going to do my thing, lu or AJ going
- 37:12Speaker 5: in to a bitch and structure it up for us.
- 37:14Speaker 5: We structure it up together. Now we got the song.
- 37:16Speaker 5: You see what I'm saying. And I work better doing
- 37:18Speaker 5: it like that, because if I go in there trying
- 37:19Speaker 5: to force it like, oh this is the hook, this
- 37:22Speaker 5: is that Now I'm gonna be fucked up and recording
- 37:27Speaker 5: even though I thrive and a lot of us artists,
- 37:29Speaker 5: we thrive through strife and agony and shit, and we
- 37:34Speaker 5: wouldn't have nothing to talk about without it. Like you
- 37:37Speaker 5: need that type of stuff sometimes to push you through
- 37:40Speaker 5: and get better, and it helps even with the creative part.
- 37:44Speaker 1: So it's just like.
- 37:44Speaker 3: What's big is that you know that makes a difference
- 37:47Speaker 3: it do, so you know, you're making a big difference
- 37:49Speaker 3: in how that song comes across and makes people feel.
- 37:52Speaker 5: Because it's I know everybody's going through that same shit
- 37:55Speaker 5: because every see that's the thing too. Before we get
- 37:57Speaker 5: out of here, it's like, uh, people will not fuck
- 38:01Speaker 5: with your music because they don't relate to you or
- 38:03Speaker 5: can't relate to it. But then you'll go in there
- 38:05Speaker 5: and see a square ass motherfucker on the internet jamm
- 38:10Speaker 5: into when Future said mask off, fucking mask off Moley
- 38:12Speaker 5: Purser set.
- 38:13Speaker 1: You've never taken none of those drugs in your life.
- 38:15Speaker 5: You've never been involved in none of that but you
- 38:17Speaker 5: And that's okay, nothing wrong with that. You can vibe
- 38:20Speaker 5: to music that shit that you've never done or lived
- 38:22Speaker 5: or been through. When you are up and coming artists independent,
- 38:27Speaker 5: it's like that shit is highlighted even more and it's like,
- 38:29Speaker 5: wait a minute, you can actually relate to what I'm
- 38:32Speaker 5: talking about. You ain't never shot no damn by that.
- 38:35Speaker 5: You see what I'm trying to say. So it just
- 38:38Speaker 5: all comes with time, and it's just about I'm the
- 38:41Speaker 5: only trying to make music that my kids can listen to,
- 38:44Speaker 5: and they kids and my granny can listen to I'm
- 38:46Speaker 5: even working on that making music without cussing and shit.
- 38:49Speaker 5: So my and I just cussed right there.
- 38:53Speaker 1: My granny, My granny and Anti.
- 38:55Speaker 5: They real church going and they like, baby, I love
- 38:58Speaker 5: your music, but can you make something out all let
- 39:00Speaker 5: cussing in it?
- 39:01Speaker 1: So I'm trying to get better at.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Hey, big, that's what Big Girl was known for. It
- 39:04Speaker 3: but sometimes you came three verses without saying a cuss
- 39:08Speaker 3: and big.
- 39:09Speaker 1: But certain things you gotta cuss.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Big l was big.
- 39:18Speaker 1: It's certain ship.
- 39:19Speaker 5: If I tell you, if Ludi Chris would have said,
- 39:22Speaker 5: if Ludacris would have said move woman, get out the way,
- 39:26Speaker 5: get out the way. Women, get out the way, you
- 39:29Speaker 5: would be like, what the fuck is this? In fact,
- 39:31Speaker 5: but when he said move bitch, get out the way,
- 39:34Speaker 5: get out, it's a whole different emotion because that's what
- 39:39Speaker 5: music is. You want to Just because you ain't never
- 39:43Speaker 5: shot nobody in their head don't mean you ain't wake
- 39:46Speaker 5: up and the bitch pissed you off, and you may
- 39:48Speaker 5: you want to shoot their ass in the head.
- 39:49Speaker 1: You got that. Instead of you shooting them in the head,
- 39:51Speaker 1: you go make a rap.
- 39:52Speaker 5: Song about how you want to blow their motherfucking skelly
- 39:54Speaker 5: back so you don't go to jail. See where artists
- 39:56Speaker 5: were painters Picasso put me in no box.
- 39:59Speaker 1: You don't even live like that. But you want to
- 40:01Speaker 1: talk about what he rapping about with he living or not?
- 40:05Speaker 1: Shut up?
- 40:05Speaker 2: Now people are super funny. Dope, Yeah, people super funny
- 40:09Speaker 2: with that. They be saying stuff and they don't even
- 40:11Speaker 2: know what they're saying. Is like, Bro, you're just talking
- 40:14Speaker 2: just to talk. You like it, Bro, you don't gotta
- 40:17Speaker 2: you don't gotta just I used to.
- 40:18Speaker 5: Think I had to hide that. I like a country
- 40:20Speaker 5: song or a gospel song. I love listening to fred Hammock.
- 40:25Speaker 5: Whenever I'm going through a rough day or feeling something,
- 40:27Speaker 5: I turned that fred hammt on. That's what I learned
- 40:29Speaker 5: to play the drums to church music when we come
- 40:33Speaker 5: in there. And we in this area of time where
- 40:35Speaker 5: people got to hide who they are, what they like.
- 40:38Speaker 5: But now it's becoming more open. I will say that,
- 40:41Speaker 5: but it's like, damn, be yourself and to.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Kind of wrap it up. You was asking earlier about motivation,
- 40:46Speaker 2: and that's one of them. Motivations too. Like music is
- 40:50Speaker 2: like a sacred thing, bro, Especially like the songs that
- 40:53Speaker 2: make you feel that way, that like you go to
- 40:55Speaker 2: for certain feelings or like when they come on, like
- 40:58Speaker 2: you even get a smell of something, you know what
- 40:59Speaker 2: I mean, And like for you as an artist to
- 41:02Speaker 2: be that for somebody else is like a super dope
- 41:06Speaker 2: like thing to think about, Like, dang bro, like I
- 41:08Speaker 2: made a piece of art that makes somebody feel like
- 41:11Speaker 2: for example, like for me, one of these songs for
- 41:13Speaker 2: me is DMX Slipping Bro. Like that's that was like
- 41:17Speaker 2: one of the realist songs, Like it still lives and
- 41:19Speaker 2: every time it comes on. I can't say it's funny.
- 41:22Speaker 5: Because I don't think me and DMX are nowhere near
- 41:26Speaker 5: the same type of artists.
- 41:27Speaker 1: But it's funny.
- 41:28Speaker 5: I be telling everybody that's the type of artist I
- 41:31Speaker 5: want to be because a DMX show. You can go
- 41:34Speaker 5: to a DMX show, you could laugh, you could cry,
- 41:37Speaker 5: turn up, talk shit, feel every emotion, and then motherfucker
- 41:42Speaker 5: pray for you.
- 41:43Speaker 4: You don't even got to be a DMX fan.
- 41:44Speaker 5: Like it's ain't even about his music, it's about everything
- 41:48Speaker 5: else that's arounding it.
- 41:49Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying.
- 41:50Speaker 5: Fact, So it's like you go to DMX, you're gonna
- 41:53Speaker 5: turn off like you want to whoop in the gas.
- 41:55Speaker 5: I feel like you want to fuck a bad you
- 41:57Speaker 5: know what I'm saying. I feel like you want to
- 41:58Speaker 5: go get some money. I feel like you want get
- 42:00Speaker 5: a pit bull. I feel like you want to pray
- 42:02Speaker 5: to God cry. You're gonna feel That's the type of
- 42:04Speaker 5: artist I dream to be like, because do it make.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Sure real.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Controversy, but there's still an artist.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we all got something fucked up about us.
- 42:16Speaker 5: I bet you if we put all of y'all's life
- 42:18Speaker 5: in closet ship but on broad stage too, you'll be like,
- 42:23Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. You might you might think
- 42:27Speaker 5: him being a robber is a bad thing. Your grandy
- 42:29Speaker 5: might think you smoking weed is a bad thing. Having
- 42:31Speaker 5: sex without windlock is a bad thing. So we can
- 42:34Speaker 5: all got something. We could be judged for it, just
- 42:36Speaker 5: depending who the one doing the judging. Facts, even though
- 42:39Speaker 5: God is the only one that you know.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Yeah, facts, man, that's the perfect way to go out, yo.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Before we wrap though, just give him the project again.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Yo.
- 42:49Speaker 2: So I'm definitely gonna say, let me pull up the
- 42:52Speaker 2: track list here because I don't remember it off to
- 42:55Speaker 2: the top of my head.
- 42:56Speaker 4: I know the one true.
- 42:59Speaker 2: True color in parentheses actually, so I remember that part.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I like that True Colors joint, the color blind one
- 43:05Speaker 2: that don't love Me, don't love Me. It's probably my
- 43:07Speaker 2: favorite one for sure, and I think it was things
- 43:10Speaker 2: you do also. But yeah, me and AJ was bumping
- 43:14Speaker 2: the last time we was here, and you definitely got
- 43:16Speaker 2: some bangers on there.
- 43:17Speaker 5: Oh yeah, they're gonna have to go tap into the
- 43:19Speaker 5: catalog eventually. I got some shit, y'all. Can't see him
- 43:22Speaker 5: with my boy uncle Mike and the cut we meet,
- 43:25Speaker 5: hear him Luther Cash and that's another thing before we
- 43:28Speaker 5: got prided myself on that too. That's why another thing
- 43:30Speaker 5: that I felt so like, I hurt little ass boy
- 43:33Speaker 5: and shit when I was because I was naive to
- 43:34Speaker 5: this music business. Like I prided myself on that for years,
- 43:38Speaker 5: fucking with the same people, working with the same because
- 43:41Speaker 5: that was the dream that they fed us.
- 43:43Speaker 1: I made it with the niggas I started with.
- 43:45Speaker 4: I mad.
- 43:45Speaker 5: Then you find out you know everybody, you know, it's
- 43:50Speaker 5: just but I really like they, Like I said, the
- 43:54Speaker 5: album Lost and Found eight songs, you know what I'm saying.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Structure.
- 44:00Speaker 5: I was looking at my catalogy AJ the other day.
- 44:02Speaker 5: I was like, damn, I didn't even plan that, but
- 44:04Speaker 5: in my shit is said, we don't drop something every
- 44:06Speaker 5: two years since twenty eighteen, and I'm like, I'm trying
- 44:10Speaker 5: to break that this year.
- 44:11Speaker 1: So I got to drop another album this year. So
- 44:14Speaker 1: hopefully that's the goal.
- 44:15Speaker 5: You can get that done. That should be on the way.
- 44:16Speaker 5: That's called FLAW. It's an acronym for favor love awareness.
- 44:20Speaker 5: And when most of the song's already done, they're just
- 44:23Speaker 5: not they still like in mixing process, but that'll be
- 44:25Speaker 5: laid down the line. But yeah, that that lost and
- 44:27Speaker 5: found eight songs in Man tap in Everywhere, and uh,
- 44:33Speaker 5: you know, by the time y'all see this interview, it's
- 44:35Speaker 5: already out.
- 44:36Speaker 1: So go send that to your friend, to your friend,
- 44:38Speaker 1: to your friend.
