1:39
Speaker 3: We've got several things in the news we want to
1:41
Speaker 3: get to. There are some there's breaking news. As you
1:43
Speaker 3: just heard Jeff talking about it. There was a person
1:46
Speaker 3: killed in what appears to be an accidental shooting at
1:49
Speaker 3: the Sheets location over on the mccorkill Avenue and in
1:54
Speaker 3: Knaus City, and we're still gathering information on that. It
1:57
Speaker 3: appears that someone was a lady was on the parking
2:02
Speaker 3: lot and that someone had got a gun and we're
2:05
Speaker 3: pumping gas and somehow the gun on lodged and shot
2:09
Speaker 3: came on lodge and shot the woman and she was killed.
2:12
Speaker 3: Police say in their early early discussions about this that
2:16
Speaker 3: the two people did not know each other, that it
2:19
Speaker 3: was just just a random thing. Very very sad at Djeve.
2:22
Speaker 3: We'll have more in that coming up as part of
2:23
Speaker 3: the news a little bit later on. Plus, as always,

2:38
Speaker 3: Beam from one of our sponsors of the show here,
2:40
Speaker 3: Jute Security Systems. Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show.
2:45
Speaker 5: Hey, thanks for having me.
2:46
Speaker 6: Thank you for being here.
2:47
Speaker 3: I know that we were supposed to be in studio
2:50
Speaker 3: this morning, but if it's anything like it was when
2:52
Speaker 3: I was driving in Josh, people somehow when it rains,
2:57
Speaker 3: forget how to drive between Tays Valley and here. This morning,
3:03
Speaker 3: at around seven, I leave my house. A little bit
3:05
Speaker 3: after seven, I saw three accidents, all of them one
3:10
Speaker 3: car accidents, and it all looked like people were going
3:13
Speaker 3: a little too fast.
3:15
Speaker 7: Yep, it was.
3:17
Speaker 5: I'm pulling into the studio now, so just just missing
3:20
Speaker 5: a little bit here but I'll be happy to.
3:22
Speaker 3: Call in here, all right sor right, well, we'll just
3:24
Speaker 3: keep you out there so we don't have to break
3:26
Speaker 3: things up that didn't come in a visit with us.
3:28
Speaker 6: After that.
3:29
Speaker 3: For those who may not know, and you've been on
3:31
Speaker 3: the show in the past, tell us exactly what Jute
3:33
Speaker 3: Security Systems is.
3:35
Speaker 5: Jute is a whole home and business security and automation business.
3:40
Speaker 5: So we do video security, automation, pretty much anything that
3:44
Speaker 5: goes with that type of thing.
3:46
Speaker 3: And what amazes me when I have you on the
3:49
Speaker 3: show to talk about this is the technology and how
3:51
Speaker 3: much it's changed over the years. I mean, you know it,
3:55
Speaker 3: gone are the days we had these big, bulky cameras
3:57
Speaker 3: that look like you're, you know, doing the six o'clock
4:00
Speaker 3: news or something. Because everything is small. Everything is connected
4:06
Speaker 3: to your phone or your smart device.
4:07
Speaker 6: Talk about that.
4:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, So it's ever changing, is very discreete. Now you
4:13
Speaker 5: can get cameras that are very hidden. So we partner
4:17
Speaker 5: with the nation's largest security provider, Alarm dot Com, and
4:21
Speaker 5: they're always innovating new products. Really excited about some of
4:25
Speaker 5: the new things that they've had come out in the
4:26
Speaker 5: past a little bit here, So yeah, always change and
4:30
Speaker 5: always moving forward.
4:31
Speaker 3: And and we'll get you the contact information a little
4:34
Speaker 3: bit later on. But if people are interested, what's the
4:37
Speaker 3: consultation process? I'm thinking about getting this from my home,
4:41
Speaker 3: give you guys a call or hook up with you
4:43
Speaker 3: online or whatever, you come to the house. What goes
4:46
Speaker 3: into that consultation?
4:48
Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's a free and home consultation. And I
4:51
Speaker 5: always tell people that I definitely listen to you, that
4:53
Speaker 5: you are the boss on this, that I can give
4:56
Speaker 5: you my professional opinion on what I think is best
4:59
Speaker 5: in your home. But ultimately, you know the home best.
5:01
Speaker 5: You know, that's where you live, or the business that's
5:04
Speaker 5: where you live, that's where you work. So you tell
5:06
Speaker 5: me what makes you feel comfortable and then we'll kind
5:08
Speaker 5: of go from there.
5:09
Speaker 3: And when you talk about doing residential end businesses too,
5:13
Speaker 3: I mean, you know, we got folks listen to us
5:15
Speaker 3: that have a business that employees you know, two or
5:17
Speaker 3: three people, and businesses that employee hundreds.
5:20
Speaker 6: Is there anything too big for you, guys?
5:22
Speaker 5: No, no, no, that we can definitely do anything. And the
5:26
Speaker 5: smallest you one as well. So there's there's definitely varying
5:28
Speaker 5: packages that would suit your needs best. We don't try
5:31
Speaker 5: to bulk you into something bigger than you need or
5:33
Speaker 5: smaller than you need.
5:34
Speaker 3: So talking with Josh Beem of Jute to security Systems,
5:37
Speaker 3: to Dave Allance showing five eighty Live is brought to
5:39
Speaker 3: you apart by Hustan's Pizza or this month you can
5:41
Speaker 3: get a large et inch Pemperoni pizza and in order
5:43
Speaker 3: of centam invites only twenty ninety nine eat and pick
5:46
Speaker 3: up or get delivery by going to Huston's Pizza dot com.
5:48
Speaker 3: All right, So, thinking about getting a security system for
5:51
Speaker 3: maybe somebody that's a little tech technology challenge. That would
5:55
Speaker 3: probably be me, but I'm talking about here, but maybe
5:58
Speaker 3: you know a parent or grandparent or whatever. Talk about
6:01
Speaker 3: how you can work with folks that aren't totally comfortable
6:05
Speaker 3: with the technology aspect of it.
6:08
Speaker 5: So, I mean, Dave, I know you personally. I can
6:10
Speaker 5: tell that you would struggle with a little bit of technology,
6:13
Speaker 5: but even you could run our system. I always joke
6:16
Speaker 5: and say that my parents are the least techy people
6:18
Speaker 5: I know, and I hook them up with the system
6:20
Speaker 5: and they run it perfectly. Alarm dot Com is very,
6:23
Speaker 5: very user friendly and one of the nice things about
6:26
Speaker 5: working with a smaller business like to you is that
6:29
Speaker 5: we are absolutely happy to come and install the system.
6:32
Speaker 5: And then also anytime you need help with run it
6:35
Speaker 5: or have any questions, you can text, call me directly,
6:38
Speaker 5: or I can come out into your home and help
6:40
Speaker 5: you figure out what you need to do with it.
6:41
Speaker 3: And we talk about putting these apps on your phone
6:43
Speaker 3: and things of that nature. How exactly does that work?
6:46
Speaker 3: What can I see from my phone? If I have jute.
6:50
Speaker 5: You can see everything that you have set up in
6:52
Speaker 5: your home since the Alarm dot Com partner app, and
6:55
Speaker 5: you would have if you have a security system, you
6:58
Speaker 5: would have be able to tell you what's armed or
7:01
Speaker 5: disarmed when when somebody's coming in the doors. Things like that.
7:05
Speaker 5: You can have a video tab for if you have cameras,
7:08
Speaker 5: different automation features as well, turning on lights, having schedules
7:11
Speaker 5: for your lights or thermostat or different things like that
7:15
Speaker 5: as well.
7:15
Speaker 3: I think that's interesting that it's because we think about
7:18
Speaker 3: security systems and that's the way we advertise for you guys.
7:21
Speaker 3: But it's about more than just that. Like you said,
7:23
Speaker 3: just the ability to turn lights on and things of
7:25
Speaker 3: that nature.
7:26
Speaker 5: Absolutely well, that all goes into security as well as
7:29
Speaker 5: you know, so you're going to be out of town
7:31
Speaker 5: for a couple of days or a week or whatever,
7:34
Speaker 5: you want to be able to have the lights going
7:36
Speaker 5: on and off in case somebody you know hopefully is
7:39
Speaker 5: not But if somebody was watching your house and you know,
7:42
Speaker 5: being able to see the lights are coming on and
7:45
Speaker 5: make it look like somebody's still there.
7:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, I would, And I would think there's a big
7:48
Speaker 3: safety issue in this as well. It's not just about
7:51
Speaker 3: keeping the bad guys out. I mean, that's a big
7:52
Speaker 3: part of it, but I would think it's also that
7:56
Speaker 3: you know, there's a safety aspect here too, as far
7:59
Speaker 3: as you're with health and well being in the house.
8:02
Speaker 5: Absolutely yeah.
8:03
Speaker 3: I mean, you know, if you got an older parent,
8:05
Speaker 3: this may be they may not want you spying on them.
8:08
Speaker 3: I'm not gonna lie to you, but but I mean,
8:10
Speaker 3: you know, we've all got, you know, those in our
8:13
Speaker 3: family that aren't as young as they used to be.
8:16
Speaker 3: And again, I think it's a safety issue. I mean,
8:20
Speaker 3: you definitely could do a lot with that.
8:22
Speaker 5: Absolutely.
8:23
Speaker 7: Yeah.
8:23
Speaker 5: You can share logins with your app, So say that
8:27
Speaker 5: you did have somebody that was elderly in your family
8:29
Speaker 5: and wanted to get some cameras put in the house
8:32
Speaker 5: or outside of the house, or whatever whatever suited you.
8:35
Speaker 5: You could absolutely have a log in to be able
8:37
Speaker 5: to see what's going on in the whole thing.
8:39
Speaker 3: And it is kind of good timing to have you
8:42
Speaker 3: on the show now because now that the unofficial kickoff
8:45
Speaker 3: the summer's happened with Memorial Day, people are starting to
8:48
Speaker 3: plan vacations and things of that nature. So it may
8:50
Speaker 3: be a good opportunity because there's nothing, there's no worse
8:55
Speaker 3: feeling in the world and knowing that you're, you know,
8:57
Speaker 3: eight hundred miles away and worrying about your home. Absolutely,
9:02
Speaker 3: and so you could you know, obviously you can. You
9:04
Speaker 3: can do a lot toward that, and you can monitor
9:07
Speaker 3: your home while you're at the beach or wherever you
9:10
Speaker 3: may be. I'm gonna go back to commercial properties just
9:13
Speaker 3: for a moment.
9:13
Speaker 6: Are you at liberty? Are you liberty to talk.
9:15
Speaker 3: About some of the customers that you've had as far
9:19
Speaker 3: as businesses go, Sure.
9:21
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think one that we would have
9:25
Speaker 5: pretty good permission to be able to talk about, as
9:28
Speaker 5: Sleepy Hollow Golf Course over an hurricane. We helped them
9:31
Speaker 5: a couple months ago to be able to completely redo
9:34
Speaker 5: their camera system that was outdated, take over this existing
9:38
Speaker 5: security system that they had and modify it a little
9:41
Speaker 5: bit to bring it up to what it needed to be.
9:42
Speaker 5: But yeah, they've been a wonderful client and absolutely happy
9:46
Speaker 5: to help, even even somebody as big as their size.
9:49
Speaker 5: I think they brought on close to thirty cameras onto
9:52
Speaker 5: their account so.
9:54
Speaker 3: Well, I mean, and I think that's that's great that
9:56
Speaker 3: you can do as you know, as few as one
9:58
Speaker 3: or two cameras so you can do third.
10:00
Speaker 6: I mean, I think I think it's pretty good.
10:02
Speaker 3: And you've got a lot of a lot of residential
10:05
Speaker 3: and commercial customers as well. Talking to Josh Beam of
10:09
Speaker 3: Jute give us the website phone number, however, people can
10:14
Speaker 3: contact you, so.

13:51
Speaker 3: Yes, that's what I was telling the folks before the
13:54

13:57
Speaker 3: My Little Live Thing for the Dirty Birds as if
13:59

14:02
Speaker 3: because last night to me and my mind is Sunday.
14:05
Speaker 3: But they actually were off Monday. But they are back
14:08

14:09
Speaker 3: those days if you had yesterday off that you're gonna
14:13
Speaker 3: go around thinking it's Tuesday all day. Hey, let's talk
14:15
Speaker 3: big beautiful bill. You're right about it this morning wv
14:19
Speaker 3: Metronews dot com. It was passed by the US House
14:22
Speaker 3: last week. Now it heads to the Senate where it
14:24
Speaker 3: could based some changes. Senator Shelley Moore capital so she's
14:28
Speaker 3: excited about it, and overall she's in support of the bill.
14:32
Speaker 6: Overall.
14:33
Speaker 3: I think her quote was, it's not the way and
14:35
Speaker 3: necessarily I would have written it, but and I'm kind
14:38
Speaker 3: of paraphrasing what she said there, but overall she seems
14:41
Speaker 3: to be okay with it.
14:42
Speaker 6: What say you?
14:45
Speaker 7: Well, so she is one of one hundred and the
14:49
Speaker 7: Republican margin is not as thin as it was in
14:53
Speaker 7: the House of Representatives. But some of her colleagues are
14:56
Speaker 7: already making noise about changes, among them Rand Paul the
15:01
Speaker 7: Republican from Kentucky, Ron Johnson, Republican from Wisconsin, and they
15:07
Speaker 7: would like to see the bill cut more to not
15:12
Speaker 7: have as big an impact on the national debt. The
15:17
Speaker 7: Congressional Budget Office estimates it's going to add almost four
15:20
Speaker 7: trillion dollars to the federal government's debt that is already
15:25
Speaker 7: at thirty six point two trillion dollars. So, you know,
15:30
Speaker 7: I think it's going to depend when it comes to
15:32
Speaker 7: Capitol how much influence these other guys have. The main
15:36
Speaker 7: area is that there could be some changes, maybe tightening
15:41
Speaker 7: down Medicaid requirements even more, and then snap benefits, the
15:47
Speaker 7: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program. That's another area where some of
15:52
Speaker 7: Senator Capito's Republican colleagues may want even tighter cuts.
15:59
Speaker 6: How much did you say it was going to add
16:01
Speaker 6: to the national debt?
16:04
Speaker 7: This is according to the Congressional Budget Office.
16:07
Speaker 6: Which is a nonpartisan office.
16:08
Speaker 7: By the way, Yeah, three point eight trillion, and the
16:12
Speaker 7: national debt is already at thirty six point two trillion.
16:15
Speaker 3: I mean, I guess this is where and I'm not
16:16
Speaker 3: asking you to editorialize here, I will editorialize this is
16:19
Speaker 3: where I have an issue with this. I mean, Republicans
16:21
Speaker 3: are supposed to all be about, you know, keeping the debt,
16:26
Speaker 3: trying to get it a little bit lower, and this
16:29
Speaker 3: does the exact opposite. This adds more and more to
16:32
Speaker 3: the debt. I mean, regardless of the content of it.
16:34
Speaker 3: You can argue that all day. I'm just talking about
16:36
Speaker 3: the dollars and cents of it.
16:38
Speaker 6: Here.
16:38
Speaker 3: It adds a whole bunch of the national debt that's
16:41
Speaker 3: not very Republican like.
16:44
Speaker 7: It is significant on the debt, and the reasons are
16:50
Speaker 7: the extension of the Trump tax cuts, plus some other
16:53
Speaker 7: tax cuts like the ones on tips, and then there
17:00
Speaker 7: are billions of dollars that go toward border security, which
17:04
Speaker 7: you know, it doesn't sound bad on the whole, but
17:06
Speaker 7: a lot of that money goes toward incarceration facilities. So
17:11
Speaker 7: there is still significant, significant blend of spending and extensions
17:18
Speaker 7: of tax cuts in this bill that are calculated to
17:21
Speaker 7: add up to three point eight trillion. It's a thousand
17:25
Speaker 7: page bill, which you know typically is unwieldy anyway, So
17:30
Speaker 7: when we project, oh, there may be changes in the Senate,
17:33
Speaker 7: there are a lot of opportunities for change in a
17:35
Speaker 7: thousand page bill. But one of the things that I
17:38
Speaker 7: think you're going to hear about as time goes by
17:40
Speaker 7: is the potential effects of this bill as a US
17:44
Speaker 7: debt bomb coming at the same time as you know,
17:48
Speaker 7: the tariffs and the price pressures that were already starting
17:51
Speaker 7: to feel talking.
17:52
Speaker 3: To again with Brad mclahanny and Brad, there are obviously
17:55
Speaker 3: some people very concerned and you mentioned earlier about possible
17:58
Speaker 3: Medicaid cuts. You have your story quotes from Kelly Allen,
18:01
Speaker 3: no relation of the West Virginia Center on Budget and
18:05
Speaker 3: Policy think tank, and she was on talk line last
18:07
Speaker 3: week and she pointed, as you said, to that nonpartisan
18:10
Speaker 3: study by the Congressional Budget Office that says ten point
18:13
Speaker 3: three million people would lose their Medicaid coverage in the
18:16
Speaker 3: coming years and kind of paraphrasing or kind of not
18:20
Speaker 3: to put words in Kelly Allen's mouth, but the math
18:22
Speaker 3: doesn't math according to those folks.
18:25
Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, and there's this public debate about whether
18:29
Speaker 7: what's happening with Medicaid is cuts. Nevertheless, even though this
18:34
Speaker 7: bill is projected to result in a significant amount trillions
18:39
Speaker 7: of dollars of increased debt, some of the quote unquote
18:44
Speaker 7: savings in the bill comes from Medicaid, and that means
18:49
Speaker 7: that people would come off the Medicaid rolls under this bill.
18:53
Speaker 7: A lot of it is under the category of work requirements.
18:56
Speaker 7: They're not particularly significant worker quotvironments. The question that's out
19:02
Speaker 7: there in public debate is whether it's really work requirements
19:07
Speaker 7: or whether it's paperwork requirements, and you know which some
19:11
Speaker 7: people lose potential benefits just by you know, making the
19:16
Speaker 7: paperwork error, not noticing that they needed to complete something,
19:19
Speaker 7: forgetting slip my mind, wind up without any medical coverage.
19:23
Speaker 7: So that's the debate I think that you're going to
19:24
Speaker 7: continue to hear also over the next couple of weeks.
19:28
Speaker 3: But Dave Allen showing five video line brought to you

19:40
Speaker 3: from more details switching gears here, I understand the Governor
19:43
Speaker 3: is going to be speaking in Welsh today, Is that right?
19:47
Speaker 7: Oh, that's my answer for what else you're watching? Yeah,
19:49
Speaker 7: but he is speaking in Welsh today noon, as is
19:54
Speaker 7: the governor's way of operating. There's been no information offered
20:00
Speaker 7: beyond the location and the time and the particular individual
20:04
Speaker 7: who is Governor Patrick Morrissey. But you would think, I mean,
20:08
Speaker 7: Welch got hit hard by the flooding earlier this year
20:12
Speaker 7: and continues to try to recover from it, and so
20:16
Speaker 7: it certainly seems like a logical topic would be flood
20:20
Speaker 7: recovery looking forward.
20:21
Speaker 3: I mean, I would think that if he's going to,
20:23
Speaker 3: you know, make the trip down to Welch, that it
20:26
Speaker 3: I mean, that's just not someplace that they chose at
20:28
Speaker 3: random for another announcement. I mean, who knows when you're
20:31
Speaker 3: talking about politicians, But I mean I would think it
20:34
Speaker 3: would be, like you, it would be somehow related to
20:36
Speaker 3: the flooding that they went through, right.
20:39
Speaker 7: I can't imagine that it wouldn't be.
20:41
Speaker 15: And but.
20:44
Speaker 7: You know, the criticism has been that the outside forces
20:49
Speaker 7: have been slow to help the people of Welsh, that
20:52
Speaker 7: they have largely had to get by on their own.
20:55
Speaker 7: That they've been slow to receive federal relief flow to
20:59
Speaker 7: receive state relief. And I don't know how the governor
21:03
Speaker 7: addresses that. I mean, it seems like it should be
21:06
Speaker 7: some sort of announcement or statement looking forward to greater
21:11
Speaker 7: help help us on the way. But again, these these
21:15
Speaker 7: announcements from the governor his staff are just absolutely bare bones.
21:19
Speaker 7: It's the governor will be at this place at this time.
21:23
Speaker 7: Tune in.
21:25
Speaker 3: Well, I'm going to have you on the Metro News

22:56

22:58
Speaker 3: Republicans have added to the debt just as much, if
23:00

23:05
Speaker 3: is just that, a gimmick, a farce, a lie that's
23:08

23:13
Speaker 3: I will say, regardless of how you feel about this
23:17
Speaker 3: particular this bill, the Big Beautiful Bill, there are tax cuts,
23:24
Speaker 3: which that's a very Republican thing, and nobody wants to
23:27
Speaker 3: pay a lot of taxes. I don't I would appreciate
23:30
Speaker 3: tax cuts, but when you're having that much money onto

25:01

25:07
Speaker 3: my fifth anniversary here at WVRC Media, Charleston, when I
25:11
Speaker 3: started doing this show May twenty. Just think about what
25:17
Speaker 3: was going on then. We were battling COVID At the time,
25:20
Speaker 3: everybody was wearing masks. Our building was effectively shut down
25:23
Speaker 3: except for the news department and other other folks. We
25:29
Speaker 3: were watching the campaign between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
25:34
Speaker 3: It seems like forever ago, and I was asked by
25:37
Speaker 3: Joe Parsons and Dale Cooper to take over for Danny Jones.
25:41
Speaker 3: No easy task in and of itself. I mean I tried.
25:45
Speaker 3: I tried not to do the Danny Jones show, but
25:47
Speaker 3: to make it my own. And the bottom line is
25:51
Speaker 3: I'm still having fun doing this five years later, actually
25:54
Speaker 3: thirty seven years in the radio business overall. And I've
25:57
Speaker 3: said this before, even on its worst day, doing radio
26:01
Speaker 3: is better. Is better than most jobs. I get to
26:04
Speaker 3: come in here daily and talk to you, sometimes serious stuff,
26:08
Speaker 3: sometimes arguing politics, and sometimes just telling you what's going
26:11
Speaker 3: on in the community. And I will say that my
26:16
Speaker 3: role here has expanded since twenty twenty. Instead of just
26:20
Speaker 3: being a part time job for me doing the show
26:22
Speaker 3: and then leaving, it's not a full time gig for me.
26:25
Speaker 3: With the Metro News midday show, with Amanda Baron and

Speaker 3: is truly a pleasure to work for this company. We
26:41
Speaker 3: are a West Virginia owned and operated company, and that
26:44
Speaker 3: really means something. And I've been lucky because, unlike a
26:48
Speaker 3: lot of my federal broadcasters, I really haven't worked in
26:52
Speaker 3: my career for any bad companies. I began my career
26:57
Speaker 3: on a small am radio station, Logan, when I was
27:00
Speaker 3: a senior in high school, and after college I worked
27:03
Speaker 3: for a group in Ohio before I went back to
27:05
Speaker 3: Logan and spent twenty years at WVW with Logan Broadcasting Corporation,
27:10
Speaker 3: spent four years working with another group here in Charleston,
27:15
Speaker 3: all all great companies. I have been lucky for sure,
27:19
Speaker 3: especially when some of my co workers tell me horror
27:22
Speaker 3: stories the places.
27:23
Speaker 6: That they work.
27:24
Speaker 3: This is simply put folks, A great group of people here,

33:08
Speaker 3: people getting fired up over the big beautiful bill today,
33:11
Speaker 3: I want to talk about about green Power for a moment.
33:15
Speaker 3: Jeff Jenkins with the lead story this morning at wv
33:18
Speaker 3: metronews dot com. The layoffs are coming. More than a
33:23
Speaker 3: dozen workers were told via email on Friday that they
33:28
Speaker 3: were being laid off. Now the company confirmed the layoffs
33:31
Speaker 3: to Metro News on Monday. And it's interesting the way
33:37
Speaker 3: the whole thing went down because first, well, let me
33:40
Speaker 3: back up. The story really first broke during a meeting
33:45
Speaker 3: of the Bridge Valley Board of Governors. Now the workers
33:48
Speaker 3: train at Bridge Valley and many of the workers got
33:54
Speaker 3: the email, I understand while while in class.
33:58
Speaker 6: Yeah, end of.
34:00
Speaker 3: A long weekend. Hope you have a safe weekend. Oh,
34:02
Speaker 3: by the way, don't have a job. The president of
34:07
Speaker 3: Green Power, Brendan Riley, is blaming at least in part, tariffs.
34:13
Speaker 3: Now I I we interviewed mister Riley on Metro News
34:19
Speaker 3: midday I don't I'm wanna say I'm doubting him because
34:24
Speaker 3: I don't know, but it it seems like the company
34:27
Speaker 3: was having issues before the tariffs. I mean that's the
34:30
Speaker 3: way I remember it anyway. So but that'll that'll all
34:33
Speaker 3: come out. We're not sure at this point just how
34:38
Speaker 3: many workers are going to be impacted. The top officials,
34:44
Speaker 3: as I said, We're on Metro News midday last month
34:46
Speaker 3: and they told us that the company had fewer than
34:49
Speaker 3: fewer than one hundred workers. Now, when the first announcements
34:55
Speaker 3: about the jobs were made, they and they meaning state officials,
35:02
Speaker 3: had hoped to have had as many as nine hundred
35:04
Speaker 3: workers there. And if you go to the website and
35:07
Speaker 3: you look at Jeff Jenkins's story, there you'll see now
35:11
Speaker 3: Senator at that time, Governor Jim Justice setting behind one
35:16
Speaker 3: of the green power buses. Now, you know, I'm not
35:20
Speaker 3: saying I'm not gonna I'm not a forecast send this
35:22
Speaker 3: thing is completely dead in the water, but it's it
35:27
Speaker 3: doesn't look good at least at this point, with all
35:29
Speaker 3: of these people losing their jobs. And again, they were
35:33
Speaker 3: expected to have as many as as nine hundred workers
35:36
Speaker 3: there at peak, and they got nowhere near that, not
35:39
Speaker 3: saying that they can't rebound and have that many at
35:43
Speaker 3: some point, they just don't have that many right now.

35:52
Speaker 3: Three zero four nine three five five zero zero eight,
35:55
Speaker 3: also on the website this morning, kind of a really
35:58
Speaker 3: sad story about they called her America because sweetheart Mary
36:00
Speaker 3: Lou Rettin who was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Of
36:05
Speaker 3: course she's had a bunch of health issues. You'll call me,
36:08
Speaker 3: recall the GoFundMe thing for her, and really really a
36:14
Speaker 3: sad story that happened like earlier this month, I think,
36:18
Speaker 3: up in the Fairmont area, which is obviously where she's from.
36:21
Speaker 6: So we got the story.
36:22
Speaker 3: Oh, they're not going to spend a whole lot of
36:23
Speaker 3: time talking about that this morning, but it is a
36:26
Speaker 3: it is a sad story as it pretend, because I
36:28
Speaker 3: remember the eighty four Olympics and I still remember the
36:33
Speaker 3: cover of Sports Illustrated and she had that big beaming
36:36
Speaker 3: smile and I think the head the wording on the
36:40
Speaker 3: on the page was only you Mary Lou and I
36:44
Speaker 3: mean then she went on to the wheediest commercials and
36:46
Speaker 3: so on and so forth. Then she kind of dropped
36:48
Speaker 3: out of site for a while. But sad story, and
36:51
Speaker 3: hopefully she can get things together. J. C. Penny at
36:57
Speaker 3: the Town Center is no more. It was the last
37:00
Speaker 3: anchor store at the mall and had been there for
37:04
Speaker 3: forty two years.
37:05
Speaker 6: Now your call.
37:06
Speaker 3: They announced back in January that they would be closing
37:10
Speaker 3: this month. And and you know you've heard me say
37:14
Speaker 3: this before for people that say, you know, shopping malls
37:16
Speaker 3: are a thing of the past, everybody orders online. No, now,
37:20
Speaker 3: that's I would urge you to take a trip to
37:23
Speaker 3: Barbersville and go to the Huntington Mall if you think
37:25
Speaker 3: that's true. There are other malls. I mean, look, we'll
37:27
Speaker 3: look at South Ridge, look at the shops that Trace Fork.
37:30
Speaker 6: It's just the Town Center is terrible.
37:38
Speaker 3: And I don't know if it's the current owners. It's
37:40
Speaker 3: not the city's fault. I don't know what the I
37:44
Speaker 3: don't know what the answer is. I mean, even you
37:48
Speaker 3: talk to people that own businesses in downtown Charleston, they'll
37:52
Speaker 3: tell you their business is great right now, and it
37:54
Speaker 3: picked up a whole lot with the bike event in Charleston.
37:58
Speaker 3: So you can't blame it all just being am all downtown.
38:01
Speaker 3: I think that, And I don't pretend to understand the
38:05
Speaker 3: whole group, and I don't pretend to understand what their
38:07
Speaker 3: business model is. It seems and doing some reading on them,
38:09
Speaker 3: we've talked about it in the show in the past
38:10
Speaker 3: that they kind of have a history of this of
38:12
Speaker 3: buying these malls and then not doing a heck of
38:14
Speaker 3: a lot with them, and so the stores just keep
38:16
Speaker 3: going out and out and out, and again the five
38:19
Speaker 3: dollars parking raising it to five dollars certainly didn't help
38:22
Speaker 3: any but seeing JC Penny go away, because again, that
38:26
Speaker 3: was one of the anchor stores if you remember forty
38:28
Speaker 3: two years it was in business. Now JC Penny, for
38:31
Speaker 3: their part, is closing a lot of stores around the country.
38:34
Speaker 3: This was I think the only one here that is closing.
38:41
Speaker 3: But anyway, it's sad. It's sad to see what the
38:45
Speaker 3: town center has become. Cat Skelton has the story posted
38:48
Speaker 3: about it at wv metronews dot com. Says, Dave, President
38:55
Speaker 3: Trump has done so much to make this country stronger
38:58
Speaker 3: and it's working to bring peace in the world greatest
39:00
Speaker 3: president I have seen during my lifetime as a Texter.
39:06
Speaker 3: Texas Dave trying to figure out one thing Trump has
39:09
Speaker 3: done for West Virginia since January twentieth. I hope your
39:12
Speaker 3: listeners can help me with this. Just one thing to
39:15
Speaker 3: actually benefit West Virginia and her people.
39:19
Speaker 6: One thing.
39:20
Speaker 3: Okay, So for the texture that said President Trump has
39:22
Speaker 3: done so much make the country stronger, You've been challenged,
39:27
Speaker 3: not you personally, by the other Texter to come up
39:30
Speaker 3: with one thing for West Virginia that's been done. I've
39:35
Speaker 3: got warring textures here, but you know there are there
39:42
Speaker 3: are questions, and the president gives us more to think
39:45
Speaker 3: about every day. And to the person that said that
39:48
Speaker 3: the president the greatest president during their lifetime, Hey you
39:54

Speaker 3: going to be appearing on HBO's Hard Knocks, which I
40:27
Speaker 3: love that show no matter what the team is, and
40:29
Speaker 3: the Cowboys I think were the first team that were
40:31
Speaker 3: focused in putting focus on Hard Knocks, and now they're
40:34
Speaker 3: going to be back again, so I'll get to see

Speaker 3: President Trump has secured the border, which has saved our

44:56

44:58
Speaker 6: Just to name a few.
44:59
Speaker 3: Open your eyes sens a text. Did you happen to
45:05
Speaker 3: see the president's message on truth Social about Memorial Day?
45:13
Speaker 6: Oh h, it was a mute.
45:17
Speaker 3: He referred to the scum that he says spent the
45:23
Speaker 3: last four years trying to destroy our country. He went
45:27
Speaker 3: on to hammer the Biden administration's handling of the southern
45:31
Speaker 3: border and slammed the judges who have ruled against his administration. So,
45:38
Speaker 3: in case you didn't see the post, it said happy
45:45
Speaker 3: Memorial Days. Okay, Editor's note, it is in very poor
45:48
Speaker 3: poor taste to say happy Memorial Day. There's no such
45:50
Speaker 3: thing as a happy Memorial Day. It's also in poor
45:53
Speaker 3: taste to write in all caps and to have countless
45:57
Speaker 3: you know, typos. But here we are continuing Happy Memorial
46:02
Speaker 3: Day to all, including the scum that spent the last
46:05
Speaker 3: four years trying to destroy our country through warped radical
46:09
Speaker 3: left minds, who allowed twenty one million people to illegally
46:13
Speaker 3: enter our country, many of them being criminals and the
46:17
Speaker 3: mentally insane, through an open border that only an incompetent
46:21
Speaker 3: president would approve and through judges who are on a
46:24
Speaker 3: mission to keep murderers, drug dealers, rapists, gang members, and
46:28
Speaker 3: release prisoners from all over the world in our country
46:32
Speaker 3: so they can rob, murder and rape again, et cetera,
46:37
Speaker 3: et cetera.
46:38
Speaker 13: Like I.
46:41
Speaker 3: Is it just me that kind of misses presidents being
46:46
Speaker 3: Republican or Democrat, who just on Memorial Day observed Memorial
46:51
Speaker 3: Day for what it is, the time to remember those
46:54
Speaker 3: that are no longer with us because they died in
46:56
Speaker 3: defense of this country.
46:58
Speaker 6: I mean, is that is that just me?
47:00
Speaker 2: Uh?
47:01
Speaker 3: And I know there are a lot of maga folks
47:04
Speaker 3: absolutely love everything that Donald Trump says or or does,
47:09
Speaker 3: and that's that's fine, that you're right, But I just
47:12
Speaker 3: of all the days, of all the days to post
47:16
Speaker 3: something like that Memorial Day written and again typo's all caps.
47:23
Speaker 3: There's no just thing as happy Memorial Day, you get,
47:27
Speaker 3: you get my point on that.
47:28
Speaker 6: I just think I just think that, Yeah, you know.
47:33
Speaker 3: What I think, Texas Dave, last I checked, Virginia was
47:38
Speaker 3: a woman's name. It's not West Virgil All right, there
47:43
Speaker 3: you go, There you go, says been with you since
47:47
Speaker 3: you were a Trump supporter. You've come full circle. Well,
47:51
Speaker 3: you know, I I think I've told you my story
47:54
Speaker 3: of Donald Trump before. I did vote for the guy
47:57
Speaker 3: twice twenty sixteen and twenty two, and I thought he
48:01
Speaker 3: was going to be I thought it was going to
48:04
Speaker 3: be different. And uh I had I had Buyer's remorse.
48:10
Speaker 3: That's and and I don't like the fact that the
48:12
Speaker 3: Republican Party is now the Trump Party. It's the Maga Party.
48:16
Speaker 3: And I feel that there's no there's no place in
48:20
Speaker 3: the Republican Party for for people like me. Uh hey, Dave,
48:27
Speaker 3: what part of Trump's statement do you disagree with? It's
48:31
Speaker 3: not so much about disagreeing with the statement, it's the
48:34
Speaker 3: timing on Memorial Day. That's my issue. Look, if you
48:39
Speaker 3: want to release it today, release it today, that's fine,
48:42
Speaker 3: but not on Memorial Day. Man, do better, do better.
48:45
Speaker 3: That's not what Memorial Day is for. And I don't
48:48
Speaker 3: really like presidents referring to people as scum, you know,
48:51
Speaker 3: But that's that's that's the Internet, that's where we are now.
48:54
Speaker 3: And uh then President Trump is the is the perfect
48:58
Speaker 3: president for the times day we live in now. And
49:01
Speaker 3: I will say that because that's what we want. We
49:03
Speaker 3: want the Jerry springerization of America. That's what we want
49:07
Speaker 3: now while while we're racking up record debts, which is
49:13
Speaker 3: something that Republicans supposedly are against, but not him. Hey, Dave,
49:19
Speaker 3: your show has turned into local biz infomercials and Trump mashing.
49:22
Speaker 6: Do better, do Better? DJ Meadows is here?
49:26
Speaker 14: Do better?
49:27
Speaker 13: If I had a dollar for every time I was
49:29
Speaker 13: told to do bettery, five bucks, you do, you would
49:33
Speaker 13: do better?
49:33
Speaker 6: I would do better. You agree with what I said?
49:36
Speaker 6: I don't want to put it.
49:37
Speaker 3: I don't want to make you uncomfortable here, But do
49:40
Speaker 3: you you agree with what I said that there's really
49:43
Speaker 3: not a place in the Republican Party for guys like
49:46
Speaker 3: us anymore. No, because there's not, because I guess we're rying.
49:51
Speaker 3: The Republican Party has become the party of populism. It's
49:54
Speaker 3: become the party of short term thinking. It's become a
49:56
Speaker 3: party of less market solutions when it used to be
49:59
Speaker 3: about market solutions.
50:02
Speaker 6: I mean, you're a numbers guy.
50:04
Speaker 3: How does somebody that's a Republican, a conservative add that
50:07
Speaker 3: much or support something adds that much money to the
50:10
Speaker 3: national debt?
50:10
Speaker 6: I don't think they do, right.
50:13
Speaker 13: I mean, look, and I got bashed, not bashed, I
50:17
Speaker 13: was challenged on social media over the weekend. I don't
50:21
Speaker 13: care what it is you have to cut something. We're
50:26
Speaker 13: steaming toward the cliff. We can't keep doing this. We
50:29
Speaker 13: can't keep spending seven trillion dollars a year and only
50:33
Speaker 13: taking five trillion dollars in the math don't math Sarcastically,
50:37
Speaker 13: I said, okay, tell you what, whatever the median income
50:40
Speaker 13: is now in this country, anything above that, tax at
50:43
Speaker 13: one hundred percent, because that's the only way you keep
50:44
Speaker 13: doing what you're doing, which obviously is not reasonable. So
50:48
Speaker 13: if you want to continue on the course that we're on,
50:50
Speaker 13: the only way to do it is have an unreasonable
50:52
Speaker 13: rate of taxation that kills our economy.
50:54
Speaker 6: What do you want to do?
50:55
Speaker 3: Take your pick, Tex says, get mad all you want.
50:58
Speaker 3: But Trump is not wrong in his post. Again, it
51:02
Speaker 3: really wasn't the post. It was that it was on
51:04
Speaker 3: Memorial Day, a solemn day. That's what really got me.
51:07
Speaker 3: By the way, in regards to Happy Memorial Day, you
51:10
Speaker 3: should tell KWS not to play Kenny Chesney anymore, because
51:13
Speaker 3: on one of those promos yesterday he said the same consistencies.
51:16
Speaker 3: All I asked, well, I can't do anything about KWS
51:19
Speaker 3: although I do work there from time to time.
51:20
Speaker 6: But I'll bring it up.
51:22
Speaker 13: What happened to argument with civility? It's gone, it's gone.
51:26
Speaker 13: Why do you have to call somebody scum?
51:28
Speaker 6: Yeah, it's gone. Why do you have to do that?
51:30
Speaker 3: But I disagree with a lot of people. I don't
51:33
Speaker 3: call him scum, Tex says TJ. The Republicans have always
51:37
Speaker 3: been about short term thinking.
51:40
Speaker 6: No, no, I don't agree.
51:41
Speaker 3: Not true, Tex, says Carol Miller. And Riley More voted
51:45

51:54
Speaker 6: They voted for it.
51:55
Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean, look, so they're banking on the come.
51:58
Speaker 13: And that's the problem I have with this. I don't
52:01
Speaker 13: disagree that if you create favorable economic circumstances that GDP
52:06
Speaker 13: could grow. I don't disagree with that. However, I don't
52:08
Speaker 13: think you can bank on it within your tax policy.
52:11
Speaker 13: I think you have to realize it and then make
52:13
Speaker 13: a change. That's what Republicans, many of them are doing.
52:15
Speaker 13: They're saying, well, it's going to be great, We're gonna
52:17
Speaker 13: bring in so much more revenue. Maybe we will wait
52:19
Speaker 13: until that happens and then pivot and adjust.
52:22
Speaker 3: All right, what you got on the show today? Sorry,
