- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So I got a meme sent to me by one of my friends and it was
- 0:34very funny, made me laugh and I thought, this is a perfect topic
- 0:37for a podcast. This little meme, it was Eagles
- 0:42do not take flight lessons from chickens.
- 0:46And I thought that was so awesome And she said you are my
- 0:49eagle and you live with the chickens.
- 0:52And I started laughing and I thought, Oh my gosh, this is too
- 0:55funny. How many times in your life are
- 0:58you having the thoughts of Eagles where you want to soar,
- 1:02you want to come and create something completely different?
- 1:04You want to just go to a different level.
- 1:06You want to be regal. You want to get out there.
- 1:08You want to be fantastic, compelling.
- 1:10You want everyone to look at you like you are just the bomb and
- 1:15you know you're acting as such and.
- 1:19All of a sudden a chicken shows up and says, hey, maybe you
- 1:23should do a little less. Maybe you shouldn't push
- 1:25yourself that hard. Maybe you should play it safe.
- 1:27Maybe you should do this. You know, I love my chickens
- 1:32with all my heart, but the truth is they can never soar like an
- 1:35eagle. They are fully flight winged.
- 1:38They have everything they can to fly, and they do fly, but they
- 1:42have to do it while they're running.
- 1:44Or they can fly down from something.
- 1:46They're not very good at flying up to things they can.
- 1:49But when they go up at night, they actually climb the ladders
- 1:52and they do their little things like that.
- 1:54And some of them are better than others.
- 1:56They can fly up at the most. They really usually fly up is
- 1:58about 6 feet, and they are not soaring like that.
- 2:03They are. You know, doing their chicken
- 2:06things. And when you think of the eagle
- 2:09and the chicken in terms of humans, how many times have you
- 2:12been in the middle of creating your eagle dream and a chicken
- 2:15shows up and says to you, well, I don't know.
- 2:18I don't know if you should do that.
- 2:19I don't know how that's going to work.
- 2:20I don't know what you're going to do.
- 2:22And I've had those moments with people that I'm, you know, very
- 2:26close to. And I've had those moments where
- 2:29my own mother has said to me, well, if you want to do it, I
- 2:32mean. I don't know how it's going to
- 2:34turn out. And she's said things that were
- 2:37less than encouraging. And then I've had the moments
- 2:40where, you know, I've had the eagle encouragement, somebody
- 2:44being the wind beneath my wings, so to speak.
- 2:46And what's so fascinating about this concept of paying attention
- 2:51to it like that is recognizing who you want to be going into
- 2:55it. Are you showing up like the
- 2:57eagle or you showing up like the chicken?
- 2:59Are you showing up like somebody who's filling somebody else up,
- 3:04or are you showing up like somebody who's being that person
- 3:07that's depleting them even? You know, more important is when
- 3:12you want to be the eagle, the the people that you're
- 3:16surrounding yourself with, are they lifting you up?
- 3:18Are they allowing you to soar or are they pulling you back down
- 3:22to being, you know, on that level of the chicken?
- 3:25You know, hiding out and not making things happen.
- 3:29I think when you start to recognize this in your own
- 3:33behavior and in yourself and how you can control these things,
- 3:38you can decide what they mean. You can decide what it looks
- 3:41like. It is astoundingly clear to me
- 3:45that our reactions to all of it, whatever happens on the outside,
- 3:50happens. But our reactions to it are what
- 3:52allows us to take on that role. Of either being the eagle or the
- 3:58chicken. It's not what they say.
- 4:00Those are just words. You don't have to buy into them.
- 4:02It's how we react. That's the big thing and.
- 4:07Controlling our reaction. Defining our reaction.
- 4:09I'm just controlling it. But defining our reactions.
- 4:13Making ourselves think of the difference.
- 4:16Who do I choose to be right now? What do I want to put my
- 4:20attention and intention into? Could not be more important.
- 4:25And so often we get into this place where we listen to other
- 4:30people. And I'll tell you, the older I
- 4:33get, the more I realize that. There are a few people that I
- 4:38listen to. I'm just being very frank about
- 4:40that. I have a very tight circle of
- 4:43people that I listen to and that I read.
- 4:46I have always looking to grow, always looking to learn more.
- 4:51But I am very careful about the energy I take in because it is
- 4:55guarded and I do not want to allow anything to poison that
- 5:00for me. And I choose to soar out like an
- 5:03eagle. I've got to choose to hang out
- 5:05with that. I've got to choose to have that
- 5:07energy. That's the place I'm tapping
- 5:09into. And when you think about how
- 5:12high an eagle can fly, there aren't a lot of birds that can
- 5:14join them up there. They don't really fly down low
- 5:17where all the rest of them are. So I'm going to challenge you to
- 5:20pick your path of an eagle, pick what you're choosing, be smart
- 5:24and don't fly with the chickens. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:29you have a very blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:32Go sore. Bye.
