• 1:04
Speaker 1: Well, and if you find yourself kind of reverting back to the old ways, the old religions, the way you once walked the way to get past, that is, to find yourself meditating through God's Word day and night, remember the wisdom of God is not hiding from us, it's hidden for us inside God's Word.
• 1:23
Speaker 1: Right, you want knowledge?
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: Go to school.
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: You want wisdom?
• 1:26
Speaker 1: Get on your knees.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: Somebody once said right, you want knowledge, go to school.
• 1:29
Speaker 1: You want wisdom, get on your knees.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: Somebody once said so.
• 1:34
Speaker 1: You get on your knees, you open up God's word and you ask God to enlighten, to speak.
• 1:36
Speaker 1: We go through his word, but is his word going through us?
• 1:38
Speaker 1: We need to pause and have that Selah moment so that we will not.
• 1:42
Speaker 1: We cannot be the same.
• 1:43
Speaker 1: We cannot go back to Egypt, to the way things used to be in the yesteryear and today is a new day.
• 1:50
Speaker 1: We are found meditating day and night, day night, day night, until it becomes muscle memory, regurgitating scripture.
• 1:59
Speaker 1: You know it's been said and, ray, you've said it once before as well.
• 2:02
Speaker 1: Right, if you want to recognize a counterfeit, well, then you just need to know what the true bill looks like.
• 2:07
Speaker 1: Well, the same is true here.
• 2:08
Speaker 1: You may not know a lot about Hinduism.
• 2:10
Speaker 1: You don't need to necessarily know a lot about Hinduism when you know the real thing.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: So you can counter it with scripture, which is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword.
• 2:20
Speaker 2: It doesn't return void and it accomplishes what God wants it to accomplish raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright metal kettles and what is it?
• 2:39
Speaker 2: I used to love that warm, woolly mittens.
• 2:40
Speaker 2: What do you know?
• 2:41
Speaker 4: the punch line of that ray.
• 2:41
Speaker 4: I don't know if you have a punch.
• 2:42
Speaker 2: These are a few of my favorite things sound of music.
• 2:46
Speaker 2: I'll tell you, guys, things become your favorite when you no longer have them.
• 2:51
Speaker 2: And I'll tell you what one of my most favorite things on the planet is now Air conditioning.
• 2:59
Speaker 4: Oh yes, Do you not have it?
• 3:00
Speaker 4: You know who invented air conditioning.
• 3:03
Speaker 2: No, but I love him or her or it, no one really.
• 3:07
Speaker 4: We should be worshiping, not worshiping.
• 3:08
Speaker 4: We should be worshiping, not worshiping.
• 3:10
Speaker 4: We should be so thankful to that guy.
• 3:11
Speaker 2: Can you clip that?
• 3:12
  Speaker 2: Yeah, clip that.
• 3:13
Speaker 2: We should be worshiping you.
• 3:16
Speaker 4: Seriously, I'm so thankful for it.
• 3:19
Speaker 3: Especially coming back from Europe, where they don't believe in air conditioning or ice or deodorant.
• 3:23
Speaker 3: Thank you, there goes all our European listeners.
• 3:27
Speaker 2: No, our air conditioning blew up or burned out or something and we didn't have it for about a week.
• 3:35
Speaker 2: And you, just you start to like the things you don't think about.
• 3:39
Speaker 2: You know, and because you know we just in the summer, we've always got it going and it just like, yeah, it's just gone.
• 3:48
Speaker 4: It was just utter the whole of life like flush toilets.
• 3:50
Speaker 4: There's showers that we take for granted.
• 3:53
Speaker 4: I mean, I have a shower and think back like 2,000 years ago.
• 3:56
Speaker 4: This would be what a pharaoh would have, with like 1,000 servants or heating up the water to make sure it was water.
• 4:01
Speaker 4: We just take it for granted.
• 4:03
Speaker 2: I know I was thinking of that Like seriously.
• 4:09
Speaker 2: What are some of the things that it hits you like after a?
• 4:11
Speaker 2: While oh my goodness, I can't believe I have this.
• 4:12
  Speaker 2: You know brush.
• 4:13
Speaker 2: I wish you'd use it chickens chickens oh they'd have chickens 2 000 years ago.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: Everything always goes back to chickens air conditioning was invented by willis haviland carrier in 1902.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: He's an american engineer.
• 4:26
Speaker 2: I love him Cool, Cool.
• 4:29
Speaker 2: Hey, I still don't understand how it works.
• 4:33
Speaker 2: And then I mean I'm just saying like.
• 4:35
Speaker 4: Isn't it like a refrigerator, sort of your whole house becomes a refrigerator.
• 4:40
Speaker 2: But it's obviously anti, not anti-freeze.
• 4:43
Speaker 2: It's coolant refrigeration, whatever they call it Refrigerant, just let it go.
• 4:47
Speaker 2: No, no, no refrigeration, whatever they call it Refrigerant.
• 4:49
Speaker 4: Just let it go.
• 4:52
Speaker 2: No, no, no, there's another name for it Affectionism, freon, is it Freon?
• 4:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, that'll do Something like that.
• 4:57
  Speaker 2: Anyway.
• 4:57
Speaker 2: But how is it that it doesn't run out, unless there's a leak?
• 5:02
Speaker 2: I mean they just put the refrigerant in.
• 5:04
Speaker 4: You keep the door shut so it doesn't run out.
• 5:06
Speaker 2: But it keeps working is what.
• 5:09
Speaker 3: I'm saying it's not like a chemical, and then it's used up and then it's gone.
• 5:13
Speaker 3: It's just like this tiny little miracle happening over and over again.
• 5:15
  Speaker 2: Totally it probably.
• 5:17
Speaker 2: I mean, if you brought an air conditioning system back in biblical days, they would probably worship it.
• 5:21
Speaker 4: People in Alaska have just tuned out.
• 5:23
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 5:25
Speaker 2: Yeah then heaters right as well, but those things like shoes I was thinking about shoes, you know, I just don't.
• 5:37
Speaker 2: I don't even like think how blessed I am that I have these things that are manufactured to where I don't get sores and my feet are protected.
• 5:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, sneakers for $12 at Walmart just incredible.
• 5:44
Speaker 4: Is that what you get, Ray?
• 5:45
Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, you buy one, you get one free.
• 5:50
Speaker 3: That's how they get you huh.
• 5:51
Speaker 2: That would be a great ploy.
• 5:53
Speaker 2: Wait, was it you that said that?
• 5:54
  Speaker 4: someplace did no.
• 5:55
Speaker 4: Last I went to Walmart with Sue.

• 6:04
Speaker 4: They were women's sneakers.
• 6:10
  Speaker 2: I had.
• 6:11
Speaker 2: They were women's sneakers.
• 6:12
Speaker 2: I had to put them back.
• 6:12
  Speaker 2: No ray.
• 6:13
Speaker 2: What is it with?
• 6:13
Speaker 4: you women's bikes, women's sneakers, don't spread it.

• 6:46
  Speaker 2: But you?
• 6:46
  Speaker 2: Don't like baseball.
• 6:47
Speaker 2: I hate it with a passion.
• 6:49
Speaker 2: I loathe it, I detest it, but the food was good.
• 6:53
Speaker 3: They had a box.
• 6:54
Speaker 2: It was a ministry that was doing just blessing people and Dwayne was going and he took me with him, so they had like a suite.

• 7:20
Speaker 2: When we first hired a member, we hired him on and it was like day one.
• 7:23
Speaker 2: Oh yes, you're like, let's go to the park and film AZ and I fighting Star Wars.

• 7:42
Speaker 2: Remember Arab Jew Wars?
• 7:44
  Speaker 4: Oh, that's right.
• 7:44
Speaker 4: And then we had you witness to a guy who was 6'8".
• 7:47
  Speaker 4: Yeah, or 6'11".
• 7:48
Speaker 4: It went into my mind of how he picked you up, yeah, yeah.
• 7:51
Speaker 2: Anyway, Dwayne revived something in my life of talking about conveniences that we love.
• 7:57
Speaker 2: Do you remember those mints that we used to get?
• 7:59
Speaker 2: Wait, when he was around back in the day, they were Listerine strips.
• 8:02
Speaker 2: Oh, I remember those.
• 8:04
Speaker 3: It's like a mint, but it's this thing that dissolves on you?
• 8:06
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 8:06
  Speaker 3: I remember those.
• 8:08
Speaker 4: They still sell those.
• 8:08
Speaker 4: They do, I was shocked.
• 8:10
Speaker 2: I mean, these are like 15, 20 years ago.
• 8:12
Speaker 2: Get them at livingwaterscom we should.
• 8:14
Speaker 2: They've got a tract on it, that's right, but yeah, just breath mints, which is why I'm glad they exist, because of you guys.
• 8:25
Speaker 4: And Adam fell, so did his breath.
• 8:26
Speaker 2: Yeah Was it, job said.
• 8:27
Speaker 2: My breath is loathsome to my wife, that's why she said curse God and die.
• 8:31
Speaker 2: We finally figured it out Mrs Job what?
• 8:36
Speaker 4: was your problem, Mrs Hi honey.
• 8:40
Speaker 2: But we are blessed.
• 8:41
Speaker 2: You know, there's times I reminisce, like not reminisce, but I look at like Little House on the Prairie and I think, oh, it would have been so cool to live back then.
• 8:49
Speaker 3: No, no, it wouldn't have.
• 8:50
Speaker 2: No, it's all glamorized.
• 8:52
Speaker 2: But even going to Africa, you're going and people are pumping water.
• 8:57
Speaker 2: Remember Mark, in Uganda?
• 8:58
Speaker 2: The women are going, the women do it, they go to the well and they're pumping water Guys in America pump iron every day Carrying it on their head.
• 9:05
Speaker 1: Remember when you and Ray had water from Jacob's well?
• 9:09
Speaker 4: Oh, that was wonderful Jacob's.
• 9:12
Speaker 2: Well, and we weren't no.
• 9:14
Speaker 1: You guys both really got sick.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, that was really really awful.
• 9:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, friends, time for a cool, classy comment.
• 9:22
Speaker 2: This is from Nadja I believe that's how it's pronounced N-A-D-J-A, and the subject line says deepest gratitude for the life-changing impact of your podcast and Ray Dear.
• 9:38
Speaker 1: What does that mean?
• 9:39
Speaker 1: And Ray Singled you out, kind of an appendage on there.
• 9:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, oh and Ray, that's actually what it says.
• 9:43
Speaker 2: Dear Ray, Mark, Oscar and Easy, I wanted to express my profound gratitude for the incredible impact your podcast has had on my life and the life of my nine-year-old son.
• 9:53
Speaker 2: Although I grew up in a Christian home, I never truly understood or believed that there was a God until recently, constantly digging for proof.
• 10:00
Speaker 2: About two years ago, I began my journey as a new Christian after I came across Ray's YouTube clips.
• 10:05
Speaker 2: However, it wasn't until my sister encouraged me to listen to your family program that my faith truly began to blossom.
• 10:11
Speaker 2: She knew that humor is a great way to capture my attention and my son's too, so we started tuning in during our long daily school commute.
• 10:19
Speaker 2: Easy, your Impression of an Arab is our favorite.
• 10:21
Speaker 2: We can't stop replaying it along with Alan.
• 10:24
Speaker 1: Alan, let's do this one real live, give the impression of the Arab.
• 10:29
  Speaker 2: How are you?
• 10:29
Speaker 2: Don't stop making our bellies hurt with laughter.
• 10:32
Speaker 2: The transformation we've experienced in the last six months has been nothing short of miraculous.
• 10:36
Speaker 2: The epiphanies and insights I've gained from listening to your podcast have completely turned my life around.
• 10:42
Speaker 2: I finally have a deep sense of hope and purpose.
• 10:45
  Speaker 2: Wow, stop it.
• 10:47
Speaker 4: So you're going to cry.
• 10:49
Speaker 2: I said no, no, I'm good, I'm good and I can't thank you enough for that.
• 10:55
Speaker 2: I share your podcast with everyone who will listen, because the encouragement and wisdom you offer have made such a difference in our lives.
• 11:02
Speaker 2: From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
• 11:04
Speaker 2: I pray for you and your families daily, grateful for the immense blessing you've been to us.
• 11:09
Speaker 4: One of my favorite parts of the podcast is you bawling?
• 11:12
Speaker 2: Man why, and then she said PS yep right right, yep right.
• 11:18
Speaker 2: She did too, didn't she?
• 11:19
  Speaker 2: She did.
• 11:20
Speaker 2: My son and I have made this intro our code language laugh out loud.
• 11:24
Speaker 2: With heartfelt thanks and warmest regards.
• 11:26
Speaker 2: Nadja Bourmatov Wow, yeah, thank you.
• 11:30
Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
• 11:32
Speaker 2: You know the reason why it hits me is because we're just idiots.
• 11:34
Speaker 2: Basically, we don't know what we're doing, and God touches people.
• 11:40
Speaker 2: So thank you so much for that and God bless you.
• 11:44
Speaker 2: And a shout out to Naomi Nubia and her husband, who just gave Mark cards for us all.
• 11:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, they were in attendance when I taught over at Mission Bible Church.
• 11:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, pastor Tony Wood Right, what a great teacher, great man of God Phenomenal.
• 12:00
Speaker 1: My son, Nathaniel, attends the church and it's absolutely amazing.
• 12:04
Speaker 1: So I had taught there.
• 12:06
Speaker 1: The only thing I should have taught on was the evils of having three services, because that's what he has you ever get to the third service and you're wondering did I share this yet?
• 12:15
Speaker 1: And you're like 30 seconds in.
• 12:16
Speaker 4: I had five once, Mark.
• 12:18
Speaker 4: It was two on a set and I had three.
• 12:19
Speaker 4: Oh, that's so hard.
• 12:21
Speaker 2: Well, and I've spoken at Tony's church too and on top of us.
• 12:29
Speaker 4: it's very common that in the third service your brain plays tricks on you.
• 12:31
Speaker 4: Oh, big time, you think, did I say this in the first service?
• 12:33
  Speaker 2: It's like a blank.
• 12:33
Speaker 2: You're standing in the same spot, looking in the same direction, saying the same thing.
• 12:38
Speaker 4: Oh, I find the hardest part is using the same human, knowing the musical people behind you have heard it twice before.
• 12:44
Speaker 2: And the sound guy.
• 12:44
Speaker 4: Yeah, and the sound guy.
• 12:45
Speaker 4: You see him just rolling his eyes.
• 12:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, tony's a blessing.
• 12:50
Speaker 2: What's funny is that, as you were at his church, he came to our church to get rid.
• 12:53
  Speaker 3: Oh, that's cool.
• 12:54
Speaker 2: He was on vacation so he came with his family and that was really really good.
• 12:58
Speaker 2: But yeah, shout out to Naomi Nubia and her husband Thank you guys for the cards and they listen to the podcast.
• 13:05
Speaker 3: They listen to the podcast.
• 13:05
  Speaker 3: Yeah, handwritten card.
• 13:06
Speaker 3: That was really cool.
• 13:07
  Speaker 4: All those counts.
• 13:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, those ones and she drew a little picture of a coffee mug on mine, yeah.
• 13:12
  Speaker 2: Sweet, yeah, mine.
• 13:14
Speaker 2: It isn't easy being wheezy, of course.
• 13:16
  Speaker 2: All right, friends.
• 13:18
Speaker 2: Another radically revolutionary resource.
• 13:20
Speaker 2: This podcast is brought to you by the Bible's four gospels.
• 13:24
Speaker 2: How to find everlasting life is the sub there.
• 13:27
Speaker 2: Gospels how to Find Everlasting Life is the sub there.
• 13:28
Speaker 2: But, ray, I love this.
• 13:30
Speaker 2: It's all four Gospels.
• 13:32
Speaker 2: You wrote the four Gospels, yeah.
• 13:34
Speaker 4: Ray tell us yes, it's Ray, ray, ray and Ray, it's the four.
• 13:36
Speaker 2: Gospels the Gospel According to Ray, but we put this together a while ago, and there's also a Gospel presentation in there too, and you get all four Gospels in one.
• 13:47
Speaker 2: We gave a million of them away too.
• 13:49
Speaker 4: No, that was the.
• 13:50
  Speaker 3: Gospel of John.
• 13:50
Speaker 3: That was the Gospel of John.
• 13:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're giving Ray ideas, oh yeah.
• 13:57
  Speaker 2: All right, friends.
• 13:58
  Speaker 2: Here we go.
• 13:59
Speaker 2: Today we are dealing with understanding.
• 14:03
Speaker 2: You missed something, oh oh, don't forget the.
• 14:06
Speaker 2: Living Waters, study Bible, all that Living Waters.
• 14:09
  Speaker 2: I have a study Bible.
• 14:09
Speaker 2: All that Living Waters.
• 14:10
Speaker 2: Yeah fitting, because today we are talking about a religion that hails from India.
• 14:17
Speaker 4: I don't know how you guys could do an Indian accent.
• 14:19
Speaker 2: I wasn't trying to, you weren't no, I just Race be crushing.
• 14:22
Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
• 14:23
  Speaker 2: Never gets old.
• 14:27
Speaker 4: So yeah, today we're talking about hinduism.
• 14:31
Speaker 2: Yes, and on that note, friends, believe it or not, we have a hindi youtube channel.
• 14:37
Speaker 2: That's right, a hindi youtube channel that we want to see live and explode.
• 14:43
Speaker 2: Yes, um, we started it in faith and in terms of thinking okay, lord, here we go, because Hindi is spoken by a lot of people, millions and millions, millions and millions of people, billions.
• 14:56
Speaker 2: And so we started it and we took some of our top videos and dubbed them into Hindi, which means it's not just subtitles, but it's actually voices.
• 15:06
Speaker 2: In Hindi, you have a character, it's like voice acting in a sense.
• 15:09
Speaker 2: Ray did his own.
• 15:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, so if you live in India and you've got key people that can help us get the word out that we have Living Waters in Hindi, please let us know.
• 15:19
  Speaker 2: Contact the ministry.
• 15:20
  Speaker 2: Yeah, podcastlivingwaterscom.
• 15:21
Speaker 2: Write to us and let us know, because we'd love someone to plug in for the channel to grow.
• 15:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, so Hinduism guys.
• 15:30
Speaker 2: You know, hinduism has kind of come a little more to the front burner in more recent days because of a popular figure in the political world here in the US, vivek Ramaswamy, a very well-spoken and articulate, young, dynamic politician.
• 15:48
Speaker 2: He was running for president, and so it kind of brought it more into the forefront of, hey, what is this Hinduism thing about?
• 15:55
Speaker 2: But it has been around, obviously, for a very long time.
• 15:59
Speaker 2: One of the interesting things about Vivek Ramaswamy is one of the pillars in his platform was that we need to get back to God.
• 16:08
Speaker 2: Pillars in his platform was that, you know, we need to get back to god, and I always found it interesting because he would.
• 16:14
Speaker 2: He would position in such a way where, where you, you people would think, oh, he must be a christian.
• 16:17
Speaker 2: As if, though, he's talking about the same god.
• 16:19
Speaker 2: But hinduism doesn't just have a different god, it has so is he hindu different gods.
• 16:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, is that what I said?
• 16:26
Speaker 1: no, no, that's what you said.
• 16:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, not roundabout way, ray was yours to hear yeah.
• 16:31
  Speaker 1: Understanding Hinduism.
• 16:34
Speaker 1: I thought it was how to handle criticism, so I think I prepared for a different.
• 16:38
Speaker 3: I'm kidding, I was going to say I thought we were doing how to perform the Heimlich.
• 16:47
Speaker 1: Show us mouth, toto-mouth on Ray.
• 16:50
Speaker 2: No, I so yeah, so uh.
• 16:55
Speaker 2: So what so uh?
• 16:56
  Speaker 3: Hinduism.
• 16:57
Speaker 3: Haven't thought about it yet.
• 16:58
  Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 16:58
Speaker 2: So what I want to do is I kind of want to get into the different kind of aspects of Hinduism.
• 17:05
Speaker 2: Christianitycom had a really good article on kind of laying out the five main things that Christians need to know and understand about Hinduism, and then I want to just discuss those and then look at those things from a Christian and biblical perspective.
• 17:18
  Speaker 2: Great.
• 17:18
Speaker 2: So Hinduism, let's kind of start off first on its scriptures and its's it's uh religious writings.
• 17:26
Speaker 2: Of course you have the vidas, you have the what are called the uh upanishads, through the uh uh agamas and the puranas.
• 17:35
Speaker 2: Those are kind of like their.
• 17:36
Speaker 2: Their main uh sacred piranhas are really efficient.
• 17:41
Speaker 3: I love the pearl I knew that was coming I read those all the time.
• 17:45
  Speaker 2: It's funny.
• 17:45
Speaker 2: I look over and I see the smirk.
• 17:46
Speaker 2: I'm like all right, here we go, here comes a piranha joke any second here.
• 17:50
Speaker 2: Um, then you know, they've got their epics, the Bhagavad Gita, and then the law books and other philosophical and denominational texts and stuff like that.
• 18:04
Speaker 2: But you know, the thing about Hinduism is it's so open that it's kind of like this fluid system where anything can be incorporated.
• 18:12
Speaker 2: Oh, that's good and that's good, and we'll take this and we'll take that, and there's so much associated with it and related to it.
• 18:21
Speaker 2: Ray, have you witnessed too many Hindus in your time?
• 18:25
  Speaker 4: Yes and no.
• 18:25
Speaker 4: And the reason I say that is because Hinduism started flourishing in the 60s with the Beatles.
• 18:32
Speaker 4: Suddenly, the Beatles became interested in Eastern religions and it got very trendy.
• 18:37
Speaker 4: Especially, they were provoked by George Harrison, who stirred them up.
• 18:40
Speaker 4: They went over to India, spent some time there until their guru that they so respected started chasing the girls that were chasing the Beatles and it fell to pieces.
• 18:48
Speaker 4: They got disillusioned, except for George Harrison.
• 18:50
Speaker 4: But they put out a lot of songs, especially what was called the White Album, which was huge, and they were all about Hinduism, reincarnation.
• 18:57
Speaker 4: So those who are listening today might say what do I need to know about Hinduism?
• 19:01
Speaker 4: Well, you need to know a lot, because so many of today's people believe in reincarnation, which finds its roots in Hinduism, that as you come back again and again and again, it's a downward, hopeless spiral.
• 19:10
Speaker 4: There's nothing hopeful about it and we need to know how to address it.
• 19:16
Speaker 4: And the way to address it is very simple.
• 19:17
Speaker 4: Firstly, you can get into an argument about, if you want, with people about reincarnation, but just ask them who's in charge of giving out the bodies, and they haven't got a clue.
• 19:25
Speaker 4: What were they in the last life?
• 19:26
  Speaker 4: They haven't got a clue.
• 19:27
Speaker 4: What are they going to come back in the next life?
• 19:28
Speaker 4: Well, they usually say a lion or something like that, not a cockroach.
• 19:33
Speaker 4: But Hinduism makes no rhyme.
• 19:34
Speaker 4: There's no rhyme, no reason.
• 19:36
Speaker 4: There are only two things in life that are sure death and judgment.
• 19:40
Speaker 4: It's appointed a man once to die.
• 19:43
Speaker 4: We've got an appointment to keep.
• 19:44
Speaker 4: You can get out of a dentist appointment, but you'll never get out of the appointment with death.
• 19:48
Speaker 4: It's appointed a man once to die and after this, the judgment.
• 19:51
Speaker 4: So that's what's going to happen when people die.
• 19:56
Speaker 4: You're not going to come back as a lion or a turkey or a frog or a butterfly.
• 19:58
Speaker 4: You're going to stand before God in judgment.
• 20:00
Speaker 4: And that's what you have to say to people who believe in reincarnation.
• 20:04
Speaker 2: Just cut to the chase.
• 20:05
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you do get that a lot Like.
• 20:07
Speaker 2: I mean, you may not have someone saying I'm a Hindu, but they'll draw from one of their tenets and they'll say, oh, I believe in reincarnation and I've always found that interesting.
• 20:16
Speaker 2: We'll talk about that a little more in a bit but that you know, people are unwilling to believe in certain doctrines within Christianity for different reasons, but yet they'll adopt something they have absolutely zero like observance of and even, yeah, the whole system of it.
• 20:34
Speaker 2: How does this work?
• 20:35
Speaker 2: How about you Mark?
• 20:36
Speaker 2: Many encounters with Hindus?
• 20:41
Speaker 1: No, but I mean, I did go to high school with somebody who is a Hindu and she kind of disowned me after on Facebook, blocked me when I was just trying to simply share truth.
• 20:51
Speaker 1: Remember, from the Hinduistic perspective, the Vedas.
• 20:53
Speaker 1: It says that truth is mysterious or elusive, it's hard to find.
• 20:56
Speaker 1: And then Christianity it comes along and it's very emphatic.
• 20:59
Speaker 1: Right Scripture is true.
• 21:01
Speaker 1: Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
• 21:03
Speaker 1: Nobody comes to the Father except through him.
• 21:05
Speaker 1: So I can see how it's very offensive.
• 21:07
Speaker 1: But no, I have not come across a lot of Hindus.
• 21:10
Speaker 1: In the same way I have not come across a lot of Muslims here in Southern California.
• 21:14
Speaker 1: Now that tide, I would imagine, is going to begin to change, as Muslims are semi-taken over the world, if you will.
• 21:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think to Ray's point too.
• 21:23
Speaker 2: We need to be versed in this and understand it, because of not necessarily that someone's claiming to be Hindu, but because of the philosophies that have crept into people's thinking.
• 21:33
Speaker 4: It's so attractive because there's no real mention of sin.
• 21:36
  Speaker 4: It's all based on self-righteousness, self-purification.
• 21:40
Speaker 4: You keep getting purer and purer and purer until you get nirvana.
• 21:43
Speaker 4: Is that what we're?
• 21:44
Speaker 2: here for yeah to reach nirvana.
• 21:45
Speaker 3: It's funny that you're asking starting to ask that question because I shared the gospel with a Hindu woman on my flight home yesterday.
• 21:52
Speaker 3: Really, and I honestly, when I shared it, I completely forgot that we were even going to be talking about or not yesterday, sunday, my flight home Sunday, I completely forgot that we were going to be talking about Hinduism on the podcast this week.
• 22:05
Speaker 3: But yeah, she sat right next to me, middle aisle, and I got to share the gospel with her Something that's interesting about sharing the gospel with Hindus I've also.
• 22:13
Speaker 3: The last time I shared the gospel with a Hindu person was a neighbor about five doors down from us.
• 22:15
Speaker 3: But something that's interesting about sharing the gospel with Hindu people is that there's a lot of agreeability.
• 22:22
Speaker 3: So, you know, the Hindu people tend to understand some sort of need for salvation.
• 22:31
Speaker 3: They're open to accepting the teachings of Jesus, because most Hindus revere Jesus, but they revere him as one of many gods.
• 22:41
Speaker 3: And that's where the challenge is.
• 22:43
Speaker 3: Is that when you'll talk about needing salvation, yeah, I'm in.
• 22:46
Speaker 3: When you talk about sin, yeah, I understand, I need grace.
• 22:48
  Speaker 3: Jesus is Lord.
• 22:50
Speaker 3: Great Jesus died for your sins.
• 22:52
Speaker 3: Wonderful, like that's all easy for them to understand, to get to comprehend.
• 22:58
Speaker 3: But that just adds Jesus in their mind to a list of other gods that they revere.
• 23:04
Speaker 3: Because, to a Hindu person, if you're looking to grow your business, you worship and pray to the God of wealth.
• 23:12
Speaker 3: If you're worried about your children's health, you worship and you pray to the God of health.
• 23:19
Speaker 3: If you, et cetera, et cetera, on and on.
• 23:21
Speaker 3: It goes, and so Jesus just fits into a slot of other gods, and I think, in order to push past that in a meaningful way, I think that we need to focus on three things in a conversation when it comes to Hindu people, I think.
• 23:35
Speaker 3: One, the doctrine of creation, to emphasize the reality that we worship that there's a creator-creature distinction, because in their worldview, gods are created.
• 23:49
Speaker 3: There's no creator-creature distinction where, in the Christian scriptures, according to God, he is the creator of all things, he is the alpha and omega, and so we don't worship something that has been created, we worship the creator.
• 24:07
Speaker 3: The second thing you need to focus on is not just that Jesus saves, but the Lordship of Christ, that Jesus is not just your savior, but he is the Lord of Lords, the King of King and the capital G God of lowercase g gods.
• 24:23
Speaker 3: And then, finally, I think, to focus on repentance and to focus it on like listen, to be part of this saving work of Christ.
• 24:34
Speaker 3: He calls you to repent from worshiping false gods.
• 24:40
Speaker 3: That's what you were talking about, mark.
• 24:41
Speaker 3: That's a demand of Christ, the one true God, that you put away the worship of other gods.
• 24:48
Speaker 3: And I, for this woman that I talked to you on the flight, I use the story of Hosea and Gomer because I think it's a great example of of helping people understand why.
• 24:59
Speaker 3: Why do I have to worship one true God?
• 25:02
Speaker 3: And I know I'm kind of going along here, but let me just hit it real quickly.
• 25:04
Speaker 3: In that story of Hosea and Gomer, it's, it's, it's God going to Hosea, his prophet, and he tells him I want you to go into the land and marry this prostitute, gomer.
• 25:14
Speaker 3: And so he does.
• 25:21
Speaker 3: You have to imagine what it was like for a prophet, someone who is probably pursuing purity with his whole life.
• 25:24
Speaker 3: You imagine like the homeschool kid that never kissed, that never dated, and then Jesus goes to him, is like, hey, marry a prostitute?
• 25:30
  Speaker 3: Like that's intimidating.
• 25:31
Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
• 25:32
Speaker 3: But the prophet obeys, he trusts the Lord, he marries the prostitute.
• 25:36
Speaker 3: They have three children together, and then she leaves him to go back into prostitution.
• 25:41
Speaker 3: Imagine the devastation, right?
• 25:44
Speaker 3: He's a single father now and God goes to Hosea and he says I want you to go back into the city.
• 25:50
Speaker 3: I want you to find her, gomer.
• 25:52
  Speaker 3: And he does.
• 25:53
Speaker 3: And he finds her and he says I want you to buy her back.
• 25:56
Speaker 3: And what the story says is that he buys her back for pennies on the dollar, which is the scripture's way of telling us that no one else saw value and worth in this woman anymore, because she was sold back into prostitution.
• 26:10
Speaker 3: And he brings her home, he cleans her up, he sings this beautiful song to her, saying that you are going to be mine.
• 26:17
Speaker 3: And then God goes to him and he says Hosea, this is what it's like when my people worship other gods.
• 26:23
Speaker 3: They are my bride who turn from me, but I am not done with them.
• 26:26
Speaker 3: They are my bride who turn from me, but I am not done with them.
• 26:28
Speaker 3: I am going to go buy them back, but not for pennies on the dollar, but with my life.
• 26:34
Speaker 3: And of course he's referring to or he's it's a typology towards Christ, and so I think when we share the gospel with a Hindu person, that story really has the potential for helping them understand why Christ isn't just Savior but Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
• 26:52
Speaker 1: Oscar, I would imagine that somebody listening to your story of sharing the gospel with a Hindu on a plane is very intimidating, right, and one of the greatest fears we have is, or the difficulties we have is that first approach, that first step outside of our comfort zone to engage in conversation.
• 27:10
Speaker 1: What did you do?
• 27:11
Speaker 1: What did you do to?
• 27:13
Speaker 1: Did you know she was a Hindu?
• 27:14
Speaker 1: I mean from the beginning did you have the idea?
• 27:16
Speaker 1: You did All right.
• 27:17
Speaker 1: So how did you broach the?
• 27:18
  Speaker 3: conversation.
• 27:18
Speaker 3: Yeah Well, I was reading a book called Kingdom and Covenant.
• 27:24
Speaker 3: It's a Christian book and so I got it out.
• 27:27
Speaker 3: And she got her book out and it was just like a fiction book.
• 27:29
Speaker 3: And I asked her what she was reading and then I was just like, oh, here's what I'm reading.
• 27:33
Speaker 3: It's this book on the Bible.
• 27:35
  Speaker 3: Are you Hindu?
• 27:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, I am.
• 27:38
Speaker 3: Oh, what do you think about Jesus?
• 27:40
Speaker 3: I asked for her opinion because everybody loves to share their opinion.
• 27:44
Speaker 3: So, rather than starting with let me tell you about Jesus, I basically said you tell me about Jesus.
• 27:50
Speaker 3: And that was the starting point of the conversation.
• 27:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, Very good, that's really good, Oscar.
• 27:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know, this kind of leads into one of those five things that, like I said, Christianitycom highlights.
• 28:02
Speaker 2: You know, Hinduism doesn't have a single set of rules that govern it.
• 28:07
Speaker 2: It's really like a compilation of a bunch of different, diverse beliefs.
• 28:12
Speaker 2: There's no single founder of Hinduism.
• 28:16
Speaker 2: It's kind of a compilation, sort of a hodgepodge, of a bunch of different views that came from the East, really a fusion of different philosophies and traditions and things like that.
• 28:28
Speaker 2: But they and of course we talked about their scriptures they have what's called kind of a henotheistic approach to worshiping God, and that's that they worship what they would say is a single God, that's Brahman, but they recognize that there's other gods, so this is like the main God.
• 28:50
Speaker 2: There's other gods, and they recognize that there's other gods, so this is like the main god.
• 28:53
Speaker 2: There's other gods and they can take on different forms and manifestations, but they're all manifestations of Brahman's universal spirit.
• 28:58
Speaker 2: So within that, and when you get into all these kind of borrowing type of approach to different beliefs, you get this sort of relativistic perspective on truth.
• 29:14
Speaker 2: Truth is relative and there's no such thing as absolute truth.
• 29:17
Speaker 2: But, Mark, that would be a contradiction to their own faith.
• 29:23
Speaker 2: I mean, there are Hindus we know about in India that are persecuting Christians.
• 29:26
Speaker 2: There was a campaign I heard about not long ago.
• 29:29
Speaker 2: That was it was come back home where they were telling Hindus that had converted to other religions to come back home.
• 29:34
Speaker 2: That wouldn't exist if they truly believe that truth is is relative and there's no absolute truth.
• 29:41
Speaker 1: That's exactly exactly right.
• 29:42
Speaker 1: In Rig Vita, 10.129.7, it says who really knows?
• 29:48
Speaker 1: Who will hear proclaim it?
• 29:50
Speaker 1: Whence was it produced?
• 29:52
Speaker 1: Whence is the creation?
• 29:53
Speaker 1: The point is, they have no idea.
• 29:57
Speaker 1: There is no firm foundation for the reality of truth.
• 30:02
Speaker 1: Remember, in the Vedas it says that truth is mysterious, it's hard to find it's elusive.
• 30:07
Speaker 1: In the Vedas it says that truth is mysterious, it's hard to find it's elusive.
• 30:10
Speaker 1: And because of that, you cannot look down on somebody else.
• 30:12
Speaker 1: What their truth is.
• 30:13
Speaker 1: Now, when you begin to have a Christian worldview with a Christian foundation, they will snub their nose at you when it gets down to it.
• 30:21
  Speaker 1: Why?
• 30:21
Speaker 1: Because we innately know that there is a truth, that eternity is written inside of our hearts.
• 30:26
Speaker 1: It is highly demonic, it is very spiritual and the enemy will rear his ugly head in any way imaginable when Christians begin to speak up.
• 30:39
Speaker 1: Right, so, yeah, there is a source of truth and they can't claim that there is truth and they come up against those who do say there is an absolute truth.
• 30:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, Ray 1.8 billion followers.
• 30:52
Speaker 2: And that's Islam 1.1 billion followers in Hinduism.
• 30:57
  Speaker 4: I've got 1.2, so it's gone up a little bit.
• 30:59
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a new converse yeah, islam has 1.8,.
• 31:04
  Speaker 2: Christianity that's a broad term 2.3.
• 31:07
  Speaker 2: Hinduism 1.1 billion.
• 31:09
Speaker 2: That's a lot of people, and one of the other things that's highlighted that people need to understand is that Hinduism is believed to be one of the oldest religions on the planet.
• 31:19
Speaker 2: It's believed to have dated back about 4,000 years.
• 31:22
Speaker 2: But, ray, one of the problems in that, I think, by way of perception, is people think well, if it's old, it must be new.
• 31:31
Speaker 4: If it's old it must be new.
• 31:32
  Speaker 2: Ray loves that.
• 31:32
Speaker 2: If it's old, it must be true.
• 31:35
  Speaker 4: That's really good.
• 31:36
  Speaker 4: Thank you AZ.
• 31:37
Speaker 2: Yeah right, I'm new AZ.
• 31:39
Speaker 2: If it's old, it must be true.
• 31:42
Speaker 2: But that's not true, in that I've talked about that sort of thing with people on the streets before.
• 31:50
Speaker 2: In fact, we had a video that went pretty big with that Ghostbusters girl that I talked to, who's basically telling me that her philosophy is older than Christianity.
• 31:59
Speaker 2: So it must be true.
• 32:00
Speaker 2: But, ray, this goes back to Babel, it goes back to Nimrod, it goes back to pagan religions that sprouted after the fall of man.
• 32:09
Speaker 2: So Satan's old and these theories that he gave people don't make them true, as we're talking about it.
• 32:17
Speaker 4: I thought how can I say this nicely?
• 32:18
Speaker 4: But Scripture says rather, the things that the Gentiles sacrifice to, they sacrifice to demons and not to God.
• 32:24
Speaker 4: So these religions and you can see how demonic they are by their idols they're not exactly nice-looking idols, they're always ugly-looking dudes.
• 32:31
Speaker 4: It's all established in sacrificial self-righteousness.
• 32:36
Speaker 4: They go about to establish their own righteousness, being ignorant of the righteousness which is of God.
• 32:41
Speaker 4: And all religion seems to trace itself back to man's quest for immortality, his fear of death.
• 32:47
Speaker 4: And that's what I like to address so often.
• 32:50
Speaker 4: And I had a delightful experience yesterday at a local college.
• 32:53
Speaker 4: I can tell if a witnessing session is going to go or not.
• 32:58
Speaker 4: Go by the answer to this question that I ask people.
• 33:01
  Speaker 4: It happened yesterday.
• 33:02
Speaker 4: I said to this guy what happens when people die, and he says I become worm food.
• 33:06
Speaker 4: I thought, okay, that's normal for a guy like this to say something like.
• 33:10
Speaker 4: That's the way they handle it.
• 33:11
Speaker 4: And then I said are you scared of dying?
• 33:13
Speaker 4: And he burst into tears Whoa, Absolutely.
• 33:16
Speaker 4: Broke down and said I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm terrified of dying.
• 33:21
Speaker 4: And to me it was delightful in the sense that when a guy says no, when you're dead, you're dead.
• 33:26
Speaker 4: I think I've got a proud guy here right in front of me.
• 33:28
Speaker 4: This isn't going to go well.
• 33:29
Speaker 4: He's not going to acknowledge his sins, he won't understand the cross because of that, but I'm going to do it anyway, because I've been told to preach the gospel to every creature.
• 33:36
Speaker 4: So this guy spent, I think, over 20 minutes with him and it was exhausting witnessing because he was caught up in a demonic realm.
• 33:45
Speaker 4: There was such an intense battle going on, but it really epitomized the fact that God's written eternity on the hearts of every human being and Hindus, buddhists, muslims hearts of every human being, and hindus, buddhists, muslims, all of them are crying out because their fear of death.
• 34:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, um, I've just finished a a very interesting video on richard dawkins, who's about to die.
• 34:03
Speaker 4: He's 84 or something like that, and he's talking about his own death and he's going to have one more tour of the us.
• 34:09
Speaker 4: It's his swan song, which is what it's what you do before a final curtain, and I had him talking to Dennett, daniel Dennett, a very respected atheist who had just recovered from a serious illness, and he was talking about God, much to the horror of Dawkins.
• 34:28
Speaker 2: Really, yeah it's a wonderful video Like talking about his views changing.
• 34:33
Speaker 4: You can tell they're changing, wow, by what he says and, dawkins, you can see him freaking out and he jumps in and corrects him and it's very moving.
• 34:42
Speaker 4: I was so moved when I got it but it really epitomized that everybody has this fear of death until you come to the cross, when you can actually handle it through faith and trust in Jesus.
• 34:51
Speaker 4: Until that time, you're like a man at night going to jump out of a plane without a parachute and it's breathtakingly horrific and that's what should cause us to send missionaries to India and I think all you guys should go.
• 35:01
Speaker 4: We've done that right.
• 35:04
Speaker 4: Yeah, we did that.
• 35:05
Speaker 4: It was so neat to get back to the US, but, yeah, my heart breaks for every person that's blinded by demonic religions such as Hinduism and Islam and all the isms.
• 35:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's so true.
• 35:20
Speaker 2: And you know I mentioned before that they have many different gods within Hinduism, millions, tens of millions, and you know their main ones would be Brahma, vishnu, shiva, and then all these other manifestations of them, and then you see how it ends up like morphing right.
• 35:44
Speaker 2: Then you have what Romans talks about, and that's the worship of the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever, amen.
• 35:51
Speaker 2: I mean, I've talked before about how there's this one temple dedicated to rats, and people are sitting there, rats are crawling all over them and they're feeding the rats before they eat.
• 36:02
Speaker 2: Monkeys are like big time.
• 36:05
Speaker 2: They're a big time problem in India.
• 36:06
  Speaker 2: They're derelicts.
• 36:07
Speaker 2: They steal from people, they break into homes and cars.
• 36:12
Speaker 2: Can you eat rat meat into homes and cars, can you?
• 36:15
  Speaker 4: eat rat meat.
• 36:16
Speaker 4: Oh, Oscar's saying yes, have you tried it.
• 36:18
Speaker 3: No, I've never tried it, but people eat rat meat, seriously so there's a McDonald's in.
• 36:24
Speaker 2: India rat meat, oh man, but yeah.
• 36:26
Speaker 2: And then you see the cows right.
• 36:28
Speaker 2: They'll say we don't worship the cows, but we honor and revere them.
• 36:32
Speaker 2: But boy do they ever in practice right?
• 36:35
Speaker 2: I mean, there's people starving and cows are walking around and, mark, that's kind of how things devolve you move away from worshiping the true creator and you end up worshiping the creation.
• 36:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that's Romans 1, right, we don't give honor and credit and honor to God, so we give honor and credit to the man in the mirror and to those around us who we think have succeeded.
• 37:01
Speaker 1: Right, that is the issue.
• 37:03
Speaker 1: That is the problem.
• 37:04
Speaker 1: We are infatuated with the man in the mirror.
• 37:07
Speaker 1: The only time I want to Easy loves the man in the mirror.
• 37:09
Speaker 2: Oh, he loves the mirror.
• 37:11
Speaker 1: It's been said, the only time I want to stop talking about me is when I can hear you talk about me.
• 37:17
Speaker 4: Is that original Matt?
• 37:18
Speaker 1: I don't know where it came from.
• 37:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, Me Rer, me Rer.
• 37:22
Speaker 2: It should be spelled differently.
• 37:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, I was at the Long Beach Church Retreat Our friends there in Long Beach.
• 37:33
Speaker 2: Middle Eastern friends, yeah.
• 37:35
Speaker 3: And a young lady came up to me.
• 37:37
Speaker 3: She was recently converted from Hinduism to Christianity and she told me I was talking it was right after a sermon where I was talking about the reality that we often look to God and we impose or imprint upon his character the character of either former beliefs or even parents.
• 37:56
Speaker 3: So, you know, if we have an absent, abusive father, we tend to think of God maybe not as abusive, but absent, distant, ready to be angry with us.
• 38:04
Speaker 3: If we come from a former religion, you know I've talked to converted Muslims who often think of God as also distant, and so we were talking about sort of.
• 38:16
Speaker 3: She came to me and was like man.
• 38:17
Speaker 3: When you said that, I realized that I often think about God still from this Hindu perspective, which is that he's not available, not involved, aloof, too busy for me, rather than the beauty of what the gospel tells us, which is that he is a heavenly father who knows every hair on our head, that is sovereignly involved in every aspect of our lives, that through the cross he means to have a relationship with us, that this is relational love that God is offering and participating in with his children, and that to her in that moment was just like this aha moment.
• 39:02
Speaker 3: And so not only are we offering the gospel to our Hindu friends, I think we're also helping them understand the magnificent glory of God and the way in which he has loved us.
• 39:18
Speaker 3: To the person who's hesitant to talk to their Hindu neighbor, what better news, what better thing to talk about than to invite them into knowing God?
• 39:31
Speaker 1: Well, and if you find yourself kind of reverting back to the old ways, the old religions, the way you once walked the way to get past, that is to find yourself meditating through God's word day and night, remember the wisdom of God is not hiding from us, it's hidden for us inside God's word.
• 39:51
Speaker 1: Right, you want knowledge?
• 39:52
  Speaker 1: Go to school.
• 39:53
Speaker 1: You want wisdom, get on your knees.
• 39:54
Speaker 1: Somebody once said so you get on your knees, you open up God's word and you ask God to enlighten, to speak.
• 40:02
Speaker 1: We go through his word, but is his word going through us?
• 40:04
Speaker 1: We need to pause and have that Selah moment so that we will not.
• 40:09
Speaker 1: We cannot be the same.
• 40:11
Speaker 1: We cannot go back to Egypt, to the way things used to be in the yesteryear and today is a new day.
• 40:18
Speaker 1: We are found meditating day and night, day night, day night, until it becomes muscle memory, regurgitating scripture.
• 40:26
Speaker 1: You know it's been said and, ray, you've said it once before as well if you want to recognize a counterfeit, well then you just need to know what the true bill looks like.
• 40:34
Speaker 1: Well, the same is true here.
• 40:36
Speaker 1: You may not know a lot about Hinduism.
• 40:38
Speaker 1: You don't need to necessarily know a lot about Hinduism when you know the real thing.
• 40:43
Speaker 1: So you can counter it with scripture, which is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, it doesn't return void and it accomplishes what God wants it to accomplish.
• 40:51
Speaker 2: Oh, I love that and I think too kind of drawing out the contrast.
• 40:57
Speaker 2: When I think of Hinduism, the word amorphous comes to mind, which is like, without shape, without any form to it, and it's like it's very nebulous.
• 41:10
  Speaker 4: It's so nebulous.
• 41:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just very open-ended and like, ah, it's so much uncertainty in it.
• 41:15
Speaker 2: When you demonstrate the contrast yeah, it's just very open-ended and like, ah, it's so much uncertainty in it.
• 41:18
Speaker 2: When you demonstrate the contrast of the solid foundation, the certainty.
• 41:20
Speaker 2: Christ spoke with authority.
• 41:22
Speaker 2: You know, it wasn't all these.
• 41:24
Speaker 2: I am the way, the truth and the life you know.
• 41:27
Speaker 2: And then you know all that we've been given in the foundation of our faith.
• 41:35
Speaker 4: Well, you know, ez, when you listen to anybody speak, there's a lot of ums and buts.
• 41:38
Speaker 4: Jesus, there's none of that.
• 41:39
  Speaker 4: I love it.
• 41:39
  Speaker 4: Absolute authority.
• 41:40
Speaker 4: And I was just saying to Sue last night we're going through John 17, where Jesus is praying the intimate prayer between him and God that nobody else had access to.
• 41:48
Speaker 4: So which disciple was doing shorthand and taking down every single word?
• 41:53
Speaker 4: Because there's over 400 words in that one prayer?
• 41:55
Speaker 4: Wow, and we've got every single word.
• 41:57
Speaker 4: He said because the Holy Spirit gave it to him.
• 41:59
  Speaker 4: Amen, that's good.
• 42:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's what Scripture tells us, right?
• 42:03
Speaker 2: He spoke like no man spoke.
• 42:06
Speaker 4: Oh, don't you love it when the Pharisees send out temple guards to arrest him?
• 42:10
Speaker 4: And they came back and said never a man spoke like this.
• 42:13
Speaker 4: I know, oh, it's so powerful, yeah.
• 42:14
Speaker 4: And they came back and said never a man spoke like this, I know, oh, it's so painful, yeah, and then what did it say?
• 42:18
Speaker 2: He spoke from authority, not like the scribes and others.
• 42:22
Speaker 2: And, ray, oftentimes when we're engaging with people on the streets here, it's just American idolatry, in the sense of they've made idols out of things that would not be perceived as idols.
• 42:34
Speaker 2: It's my car, it's my job, it's my husband or wife or whatever, but this is like in Hinduism.
• 42:40
Speaker 2: You have idolatry proper.
• 42:42
Speaker 2: And my question to you is because here's what I've always thought and we've said that we look in the Old Testament, children of Israel worshiping idols again like how stupid.
• 43:00
Speaker 2: It's a piece of wood, it's a piece of metal, it's gold, silver, whatever, but don't you think that there?
• 43:03
Speaker 2: is a real power behind these deities, because they're demonic because there's demonic uh, you know what are you smiling at?
• 43:07
Speaker 2: Can I answer yes, oh boy, yep, yep, that's true, it's demonic.
• 43:09
  Speaker 2: Thank you all.
• 43:10
Speaker 2: Right, moving right along, um, so the final thing here is dealing with the caste system within Hinduism.
• 43:20
Speaker 2: That a lot of people don't really think about and that's because, you know, back in like 1950, they sort of outlawed the caste system in India, but that is huge.
• 43:31
Speaker 4: Could you explain what it is, because I never knew what it was until it was explained to me.
• 43:36
Speaker 2: When you break an arm, you put on a cast in the system.
• 43:40
Speaker 2: Oh, that's really good.
• 43:42
  Speaker 4: Thanks, Mark.
• 43:42
Speaker 2: No, but the cast system is really part and parcel with reincarnation and karma.
• 43:50
Speaker 2: That basically you know, that's a whole cycle of birth and rebirth and all that.
• 43:53
Speaker 2: And, like you said, Ray, and we have to highlight this to make sure people understand it the ultimate goal of salvation within Hinduism is to exit that process of rebirth to where you become one Very Gnostic yeah, you become one with Brahman or whatever.
• 44:06
Speaker 2: But so that's where the casteism comes in.
• 44:10
Speaker 2: If you're born into a certain family and you can only really have this sort of career because your family is cursed because of the karma or whatever, and then if you're born into a richer family, that means that you did well.
• 44:24
Speaker 2: So you have basically four different ones.
• 44:28
Speaker 2: You've got the priestly and the educated class, Then you have the protectors or like the sort of you know more skilled workers.
• 44:39
Speaker 2: Then you've got those that are just doing the menial jobs and you've got merchants and they go down.
• 44:43
Speaker 2: Then you have the Dalits, who are like outside of the caste system, that are, like they're called, the untouchables, and the stories I've heard of that.
• 44:55
Speaker 4: It's just heartbreaking remember we had a hindu woman who was very colorful, language wise, oh yeah.
• 45:01
Speaker 4: And one of our neighbors came to our house once and I had a big picture of rachel when she was 17.
• 45:05
Speaker 4: She went to india and the picture was her standing next to these other obviously hindus and their dresses and that.
• 45:13
Speaker 4: And when this lady looked at the picture she just said because that was the cast, this time Rachel was mingling with the unclean.
• 45:21
Speaker 4: I couldn't believe the way, her reaction.
• 45:23
Speaker 4: But it's so against God's law which says love your neighbor as yourself.
• 45:27
Speaker 4: And in Hinduism if you get run over by a truck, they'll leave you there because you deserved it, and you just keep getting run over by the truck.
• 45:33
Speaker 2: You don't want to interrupt karma?
• 45:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, it's like, hey, don't mess with that, then you're going to get it for breaking the caste system.
• 45:42
Speaker 2: But, oscar, I'd love you to speak to the contrast between that and what Jesus taught and what scripture touches on in terms of there's neither Jew nor Greek male nor female.
• 45:53
Speaker 2: I mean the equality that's found because of-.
• 45:56
  Speaker 3: Absolutely.
• 45:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that's one of the beautiful things that Christianity has given the world.
• 46:01
Speaker 3: And, whether I love to tell people, whether you realize it or not, if you advocate, if you're not a believer, you're not a Christian, but you advocate for equality and justice, you are advocating from a Christian perspective and because what I'm referring to, what you're talking about, is being image bearers of God, the reality that every single one of us are created in God's image and therefore, because of that, we are due dignity and respect.
• 46:27
Speaker 3: Outside of that worldview of image bearers, you don't have equality.
• 46:32
Speaker 3: Outside of that you've got you know.
• 46:34
Speaker 3: You can look at atheism or you can look at evolution, which is survival of the fittest right.
• 46:41
Speaker 3: Like, if you look at evolution, you would say, well, the strong will survive and the weak will fail.
• 46:46
Speaker 3: Or one of the things I like to say if you went to Socrates, who died 500 years before Jesus, and you said to Socrates, hey, everybody is created equally, socrates would be like, no, they're not.
• 46:58
Speaker 3: Men are bigger than women.
• 47:00
Speaker 3: The strong are stronger than the weak.
• 47:02
Speaker 3: The rich are richer than the poor.
• 47:03
Speaker 3: The powerful are more powerful than the less powerful.
• 47:06
Speaker 3: There's clearly no in his mind.
• 47:09
Speaker 3: There's clearly no way that we are all created equally, and Socrates, in that moment, basically represents the rest of the world or the worldviews that are available to us.
• 47:21
Speaker 3: It's not until Jesus comes on the scene, elevates women, demands respect for children and tells us the scriptures tell us that every single one of us are created equal.
• 47:33
Speaker 3: What makes you worth dignity and respect, it's not how smart you are, it's not how rich you are, it's not what you believe in, it's not how you vote, it's not the sex you are.
• 47:42
Speaker 3: What makes you worthy of dignity and respect is the fact that you bear the image of God.
• 47:50
Speaker 3: And when you respect somebody in the caste system, when I respect my neighbor, when you respect somebody in the caste system, when I respect my neighbor, ultimately what I'm doing is honoring the image, qualities that they maintain of my Lord and Savior, amen.
• 48:04
Speaker 2: And that, again, to me, is another standout sort of highlight regarding the validity of Christianity, like who stands up in the midst of a system that is just so full of inequity, if you would if that's the word I can use or inequality, and totally turns the whole thing around in an instant.
• 48:27
Speaker 2: It's not like in some societies you'll see things progressively change, but it was like no, no, because this is the truth.
• 48:34
Speaker 2: Let me highlight the truth and let me highlight it as the one who made you.
• 48:39
Speaker 3: Jesus flipped the world upside down, oh man praise God.
• 48:43
Speaker 2: It stirs your soul when you think of the lostness that some people are in.
• 48:47
Speaker 2: It breaks your heart, but then it makes you grateful that we're in the truth, the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints, you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.
• 48:58
Speaker 2: And when you have been delivered from the bondage not just of sin but also of lies and deception, and you see it, it's like the scales have fallen from your eyes and you're like whoa, everything changes.
• 49:15
Speaker 2: And so praise God for the truth that we're in.
• 49:18
Speaker 2: Friends, we hope you've been encouraged today.
• 49:20
