- 0:48Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's Word with notes, quotes,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and stories, along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:03Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:20Speaker 1: for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:27Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:33Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now, here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Does it take an earthquake to wake us? Are you
- 1:41Speaker 2: a heavy sleeper? Some men are very light sleepers, but
- 1:46Speaker 2: many sleep like a rock. Women, on the other hand,
- 1:49Speaker 2: have an intuitive sense that allows them to hear the
- 1:53Speaker 2: slightest unfamiliar sound or even a baby's breathing regarding spiritual things,
- 2:00Speaker 2: Women are very easily led by their feelings and emotion.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Men are much more logical in their approach to things
- 2:08Speaker 2: of the spirit. In the Book of Acts, we read
- 2:11Speaker 2: about a man who almost slept through an earthquake. But
- 2:15Speaker 2: before we look at this account, let's review some interesting statistics.
- 2:21Speaker 2: You know, when one hundred children get saved, three of
- 2:24Speaker 2: them will probably lead their family to Christ. When one
- 2:29Speaker 2: hundred women get saved, seventeen of them will lead their
- 2:33Speaker 2: lost husband and family to Christ. But when one hundred
- 2:38Speaker 2: men get saved, ninety three of them will lead their
- 2:43Speaker 2: entire household to Christ. Now, let's look at the Book
- 2:47Speaker 2: of Acts, Acts, chapter sixteen and verses twenty five through
- 2:53Speaker 2: thirty four. We're going to read thirty two through thirty
- 2:59Speaker 2: four as a reference for the life application in Sight
- 3:05Speaker 2: for today's reflection. Then they spoke the message of the
- 3:09Speaker 2: Lord to him, along with everyone in his house. He
- 3:14Speaker 2: took them the same hour of the night and washed
- 3:17Speaker 2: their wounds right away. He and all his family were baptized.
- 3:22Speaker 2: He brought them up into his house, set a meal
- 3:26Speaker 2: before them, and rejoiced because he had believed God with
- 3:31Speaker 2: his entire household and that's from Acts, chapter sixteen, verses
- 3:38Speaker 2: thirty two through thirty four, taken from the Holmes Christian
- 3:44Speaker 2: Standard Bible version. The apostle Paul and his disciples Silas
- 3:49Speaker 2: had been put in the Roman prison in Philippi for
- 3:53Speaker 2: ministering under the power of the Holy Spirit at midnight.
- 3:58Speaker 2: While changed to the prison walls, they were singing praises
- 4:02Speaker 2: to the Lord Jesus. They were beaten, abused, and imprisoned
- 4:07Speaker 2: for preaching and demonstrating the Gospel. The prison also held
- 4:11Speaker 2: many other prisoners. Suddenly, an earthquake shook the very foundation
- 4:17Speaker 2: of the prison. The chains fell off, the doors open,
- 4:22Speaker 2: and they could have walked out. The Philippian jailer had
- 4:26Speaker 2: been awakened, and when he saw the prison doors were open,
- 4:30Speaker 2: he drew his own sword to take his life rather
- 4:33Speaker 2: than suffer the torture of the Romans. Paul called out
- 4:38Speaker 2: to him not to harm himself, for no one had
- 4:42Speaker 2: left the prison. This was such a powerful witness that
- 4:47Speaker 2: the jailer escorted them out of prison and asked, what
- 4:52Speaker 2: must I do to be saved. To this question, they answered,
- 4:57Speaker 2: believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be say
- 5:01Speaker 2: you and your entire household.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 5:08Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 5:10Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard Ka. You can hear
- 5:13Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as
- 5:16Speaker 1: Richard's entire archive at Talknetwork Radio dot com. We would
- 5:21Speaker 1: like to acknowledge our theme song, how Great Is Thy Faithfulness,
- 5:25Speaker 1: from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album unless otherwise.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian Standard Bible,
- 5:33Speaker 1: which is published by Homan Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Additional resources used for Reflections on the Word with Richard
- 5:41Speaker 1: Kay include Great Is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread
- 5:45Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again here is Richard
- 5:49Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 5:53Speaker 2: God is so interested in our witness for Him that
- 5:56Speaker 2: he gives his promise to believers everywhere. If you have
- 6:01Speaker 2: lost loved ones, stand on God's promise for their salvation.
- 6:06Speaker 2: If it takes an earthquake to wake us, May the
- 6:09Speaker 2: power of God be demonstrated in and through our household.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 6:19Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
- 6:22Speaker 1: Richard k or Richard and the entire team. This is
- 6:25Speaker 1: Chuck Christie saying thanks for listening to this edition of
- 6:28Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word.
