- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balanced Life Chiropractic, and we have doctor Harley with us. Hello,
- 0:04Speaker 1: doctor Harley. How's it going, John, It's going fantastic. Last
- 0:07Speaker 1: week we talked kind of about the broad strokes of
- 0:10Speaker 1: here's what chiropractic is. Now, let's talk a little more
- 0:13Speaker 1: about balanced life chiropractic, because then I walk in, You've
- 0:16Speaker 1: got a very specific layout, and you designed the layout
- 0:19Speaker 1: for this space so that you did it on purpose.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Didn't you. Yeah, I mean I can't take all the
- 0:23Speaker 2: credit for myself. I was part of a network of
- 0:26Speaker 2: student doctors and doctors around the country that they all
- 0:29Speaker 2: kind of shared best practice procedures and what they really
- 0:33Speaker 2: liked in their offices, so you kind of got to
- 0:35Speaker 2: pick and choose. I shadowed a lot of chiropractic offices
- 0:38Speaker 2: while I was in chiropractic school, just kind of deciding
- 0:40Speaker 2: what I liked. And you know, the office is set
- 0:43Speaker 2: up in a way that makes it good for like
- 0:45Speaker 2: office flow, you know, moving new patients through the exam
- 0:48Speaker 2: rooms and X rays into the adjusting room, or with
- 0:51Speaker 2: our type of adjusting, it's a little bit faster than
- 0:54Speaker 2: you know, we're not thirty minute blocks every single time,
- 0:57Speaker 2: so I've never booked out, you know, weeks out because
- 0:59Speaker 2: that timeslot's really busy, so we're able to move a
- 1:02Speaker 2: little faster between patients. I joke sometimes kind of like
- 1:05Speaker 2: a NASCAR pit stop. Yeah, you know, we're doing a
- 1:07Speaker 2: lot of work in a quick time, but then your
- 1:10Speaker 2: body is taking all that information to work on healing
- 1:14Speaker 2: and helping itself, because at the end of the day,
- 1:16Speaker 2: that's really what we as chiropractors are doing, is helping
- 1:19Speaker 2: how your body helps itself, how it's healing, and you know,
- 1:22Speaker 2: sometimes it just gets bogged down and needs that extra
- 1:25Speaker 2: little boost to get through whatever's going on.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And one of the things that I really like is
- 1:30Speaker 1: speaking of you were talking about NASCAR. We'll kind of
- 1:33Speaker 1: keep along those. There are also is like some diagnostic
- 1:36Speaker 1: checkups along the way, so you'll you'll have a chance
- 1:39Speaker 1: to utilize technology on the other side of the hall
- 1:41Speaker 1: over here in room A, B, and C. And I
- 1:44Speaker 1: think that that's really fascinating too, because it gives us
- 1:46Speaker 1: a chance to see kind of the progress of how
- 1:49Speaker 1: things are going.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's one thing for you as the patient to
- 1:52Speaker 2: tell me, I've got all this stuff going on. You know,
- 1:55Speaker 2: I feel like my issue is coming from here. By
- 1:58Speaker 2: using this technology, we can actually kind of pinpoint a
- 2:00Speaker 2: little bit more where the problem is stemming from. Sometimes
- 2:03Speaker 2: where your pain is at is not exactly where the
- 2:06Speaker 2: cause of the problem is. I was thinking of kind
- 2:08Speaker 2: of our spine like a bunch of guys on a
- 2:09Speaker 2: job site. If you have one guy slacking off, he's
- 2:12Speaker 2: probably not making a lot of noise. He doesn't want
- 2:14Speaker 2: you to pay attention to him. But everyone else is
- 2:16Speaker 2: complaining and they're mad because they're having to work harder. Yeah,
- 2:18Speaker 2: so if we just chase where you know, the pain
- 2:21Speaker 2: is at, we might miss really where the underlying issue.
- 2:24Speaker 2: So we have a nerve scan that looks at where
- 2:27Speaker 2: your body's holding your stress at or where that nerve
- 2:29Speaker 2: irritation and inflammation is. And the other one is the
- 2:32Speaker 2: muscle assessments. We can see how active or underactive.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Your muscles are.
- 2:36Speaker 2: So if you are going to the chiropractor, pt, massage, stretching,
- 2:39Speaker 2: extra all these things, they're like, it's not getting any
- 2:42Speaker 2: better or it just keeps coming back. Oh, maybe that's
- 2:45Speaker 2: not really what the cause of the problem is. You know,
- 2:47Speaker 2: we can see that those muscles are overworking and just
- 2:49Speaker 2: pulling things right back to what they like.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And then one of the things in the back, there's
- 2:54Speaker 1: also X rays back there, and that has been kind
- 2:56Speaker 1: of fascinating to watch over the course of time because
- 2:59Speaker 1: that gets see, you know, the curvature of my spine
- 3:01Speaker 1: and the way my head is held. And then we'll
- 3:04Speaker 1: see the next one and you're like, look at the
- 3:05Speaker 1: difference that that's made from chiropractic care. So I think
- 3:08Speaker 1: that's really cool to be able to visually see that
- 3:10Speaker 1: with my own eyes.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Right, you know, we're supposed to have some curvatures along
- 3:14Speaker 2: our spine and our day to day lifestyle, we lose
- 3:18Speaker 2: a lot of those because we have poor posture or
- 3:21Speaker 2: you know, we had a fall or an injury and
- 3:23Speaker 2: so we're compensating. So we can see that from a
- 3:25Speaker 2: structural standpoint, how's that affecting your actual spine or the
- 3:28Speaker 2: dispass or your hips, and all of that information together
- 3:33Speaker 2: it really gives us a bigger picture of what is
- 3:35Speaker 2: going on and also what's it going to take to
- 3:37Speaker 2: work on correcting these issues, because sometimes those structural components
- 3:41Speaker 2: have been there for a long time that it's going
- 3:43Speaker 2: to take more time to work on, you know, undoing
- 3:46Speaker 2: the damage that's been done.
- 3:47Speaker 1: If somebody listening is going, hey, I would like to
- 3:50Speaker 1: check this process out for myself. What is the best
- 3:52Speaker 1: way for them to reach out to you? To book
