- 0:05Speaker 1: The Galaxy's Most Unpredictable Star Trek Podcast. Welcome to Trek Cast,
- 0:25Speaker 1: the Galaxy's most Unpredictable Star Trek podcast. Today, on the show,
- 0:30Speaker 1: we are going to look back at the documentary for
- 0:34Speaker 1: the Love of Spock. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I had never
- 0:41Speaker 1: seen it before. So plus we've got Star Trek News,
- 0:44Speaker 1: your listener feedback, and now our beloved science officer Daniel Reyes.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Oh no, I'm a science officer now, and you're beloved. Okay,
- 0:55Speaker 1: well that yeah, you're our Spock.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Oh I feel like more like the triple because I'm
- 1:02Speaker 2: so short. Oh yeah, I've been How was your week?
- 1:12Speaker 1: Week was? You know, it was a week did some
- 1:15Speaker 1: work and yeah, so.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I hear you there. I've gotta I've got a big
- 1:22Speaker 2: thing going after the show. My one of my screenplays
- 1:26Speaker 2: has been selected by a group out here and they
- 1:29Speaker 2: are going to be performing a table read where they're
- 1:33Speaker 2: gonna be my screenplay. Yeah exciting, Yeah, I'm excited about it.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Also a little bit nervous and uh yeah yeah, so
- 1:43Speaker 2: that that'll be happening today. The The only problem is
- 1:47Speaker 2: I already had one of the actors canceled on me
- 1:49Speaker 2: last minute, so I've been. I've been scrambling to find somebody.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I think we're gonna be okay.
- 1:54Speaker 1: But yeah, well, I mean something like that. You can't
- 2:01Speaker 1: have something like that without having at least one little
- 2:04Speaker 1: hiccup like that.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Oh, there's been a few other ones, but that's the
- 2:06Speaker 2: latest one.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I think that's a good I think that's a good omen. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 2: They say that in filmmaking, like being a producer is
- 2:19Speaker 2: putting out fires, and so that that's what it'll be.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So yeah, well, a good deal. I can't wait to
- 2:26Speaker 1: hear about it. Yeah yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 2: And I'm gonna I'm gonna shoot a video of it too,
- 2:29Speaker 2: just for my own self to like listen to it
- 2:32Speaker 2: back and all that. So yeah, yeah, I'm excited about it.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So that's exciting. Yeah yeah, good deal. Wow.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so let's see. So it's just you and me today.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Dan is unable to make it.
- 2:47Speaker 1: A space mission.
- 2:49Speaker 2: That's right, always is and uh yeah, so we we
- 2:53Speaker 2: will be talking, like you said about the love of Spock.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Uh.
- 2:56Speaker 2: This is a documentary that was pretty much produced hosted
- 3:01Speaker 2: by his son Adam Nimoy. Yeah, so that's pretty cool.
- 3:06Speaker 2: It's a documentary you can find basically just about anywhere.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It's free currently on YouTube to watch. I don't know
- 3:13Speaker 2: if it's in other countries. I know in the US,
- 3:15Speaker 2: but yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, we watched it on YouTube last night.
- 3:20Speaker 2: That's what I watched.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It's said when we when we clicked on and it
- 3:23Speaker 1: said free with commercials. But there wasn't a single commercial.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I had one commercial on mine, like right at the beginning,
- 3:30Speaker 2: and that was the end.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't we might have had it one at
- 3:33Speaker 1: the very beginning, but yeah, there was no interruptions.
- 3:36Speaker 2: So yeah, it was great.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, I look forward to talking about it
- 3:40Speaker 1: for sure.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Oh. Eric Wood says, hello from Indy.
- 3:46Speaker 1: What's up.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Wait, when you say Indie, do you mean Indiana or India?
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure he means Indiana.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Okay, you never know. It's the Internet. We're everywhere.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah. So just as we've met Eric Woods, we've seen
- 4:02Speaker 1: him a couple of times. He was at he was
- 4:05Speaker 1: at Chicago, and then I met up with him last year.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I just didn't want to be presumptuous. You never know.
- 4:19Speaker 2: All right, Yeah, well, should we get to the news.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do it, all right, let's do it Star
- 4:26Speaker 1: Trek News.
- 4:29Speaker 2: All right, So our first news story comes to us
- 4:32Speaker 2: from Radio Times, and we are learning a little bit
- 4:37Speaker 2: more about the potential crossover between Star Trek and Doctor Who.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Apparently a Kiva's Goldman did an interview with Radio Times
- 4:49Speaker 2: where he talked about this, and basically what he went
- 4:53Speaker 2: on to say is that himself and uh Doctor Who
- 4:57Speaker 2: show runner Russell T. Davis have had conversations over the years,
- 5:02Speaker 2: but doing a crossover, so much so that I don't
- 5:05Speaker 2: know if you remember, but last season on Strange New Worlds,
- 5:08Speaker 2: the tartists appeared in the background of an episode and
- 5:12Speaker 2: probably mentioned that she dealt with the Doctor in the past.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So those were easter eggs to seed the crossover. Apparently
- 5:21Speaker 2: Russell T. Davis is totally down to do this, totally
- 5:24Speaker 2: wants to do Doctor Who and a starts at crossover.
- 5:28Speaker 2: But the problem is, you know, getting the two giant
- 5:32Speaker 2: corporations that own them to play nice together, right right, so,
- 5:37Speaker 2: and then to work together and all that. And at
- 5:39Speaker 2: that time, not only was it the BBC they would
- 5:43Speaker 2: have to deal with, but Disney had the broadcast rights
- 5:48Speaker 2: for Doctor Who in the US, so you had to
- 5:51Speaker 2: deal with Disney's lawyers as well. So it was Paramount's lawyers,
- 5:55Speaker 2: Disney's lawyers and BBC's lawyers all working together to try
- 6:00Speaker 2: to make this happen.
- 6:01Speaker 1: And as we all know, I'm sure Paramount's lawyers and
- 6:04Speaker 1: Disney lawyers are famous for getting along well and making
- 6:07Speaker 1: things happen.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sure, I'm sure. So uh it, you know,
- 6:12Speaker 2: ultimately never came to fruition. Keivs Goldsman says, hey, you know,
- 6:17Speaker 2: if the fans want it, that'll that'll move mountains. But
- 6:21Speaker 2: you know, at this point, I don't know if you've
- 6:24Speaker 2: been following the Doctor Who knews, but basically Russell T.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Davis is out. They're basically looking at completely rebooting Doctor
- 6:32Speaker 2: Who because the last season of it just didn't do well.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You don't listen to my Doctor Who podcast?
- 6:38Speaker 2: I don't, I don't, Okay, it must be a different
- 6:41Speaker 2: time in space and different dimensions.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It's a different Yeah, it's a different quantum reality.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Actually, that's that would be it. That's very Doctor Who.
- 6:48Speaker 1: It's a scot that actually has ever seen a Doctor
- 6:51Speaker 1: Who episode? Right?
- 6:52Speaker 2: And where's a giant scarf as a sun e screw driver?
- 6:56Speaker 3: No?
- 6:57Speaker 2: I get it.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I've never seen a single Doctor Who episode, And and
- 7:00Speaker 1: people who are like, you know, I go to comic
- 7:03Speaker 1: cons and stuff, but I'm like, yeah, I like Star
- 7:05Speaker 1: Trek and Star Wars and this and that and the
- 7:07Speaker 1: other thing. Never seen a single Doctor Who episode, And
- 7:09Speaker 1: people are like, what.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yet, you know talker Who? Like, if you like Star Trek,
- 7:15Speaker 2: you would like Doctor Who.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Okay, I've been told this, and I've been told how
- 7:19Speaker 1: I can jump in, you know, basically anytime they change doctors,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I can just jump in at that point. Yeah, it
- 7:26Speaker 1: sounds really cool. It's on my bucket list.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You know, you could start. I don't know if i'd
- 7:34Speaker 2: start with Christopher Christopher Eggleston because he's a little bit goofy,
- 7:39Speaker 2: but for sure David Tennant, if you start with his run,
- 7:42Speaker 2: that's like prime Doctor Who. But yeah, so, so this
- 7:48Speaker 2: probably won't happen, especially with Star Trek in Flux right now,
- 7:52Speaker 2: no news shows in production. It literally could not happen
- 7:55Speaker 2: at this point, but you never know. Maybe down the road. Okay,
- 8:00Speaker 2: I think they've had crossovers in the comic books though.
- 8:03Speaker 1: So I've done a lot of cool crossovers in the
- 8:06Speaker 1: comic books, and I'm still you know, I just I
- 8:09Speaker 1: just found my I was reading a novel and I
- 8:13Speaker 1: stopped reading it because I just I lost track of it,
- 8:16Speaker 1: and I just you know, I just found it again
- 8:19Speaker 1: and it's the Star Trek Next Generation crew and X men.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm about half.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I'm about half. It looks like I was about halfway
- 8:28Speaker 1: through it, and I remember the story just fine. You know,
- 8:29Speaker 1: it's a pretty pretty uh simple, but good story. And
- 8:34Speaker 1: I'm going to pick it back up and once I'm
- 8:36Speaker 1: done with it, I'll give a review. Nice.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, all right. Our next news story comes to
- 8:41Speaker 2: us from pop Verse and uh, you know, now that
- 8:46Speaker 2: things are dying down and Star Trek you know, might
- 8:49Speaker 2: be going on the back burner for a little bit.
- 8:51Speaker 2: It looks like, uh, you know, real feelings are coming
- 8:54Speaker 2: out and Star Trek Starfleet Academy actor blast current paramount
- 8:59Speaker 2: owners for abandoning in the series.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 2: So at a recent convention, the doctor Robert Riccardo was,
- 9:10Speaker 2: you know, basically saying how he really feels. This is
- 9:13Speaker 2: at Space con twenty twenty six, and he says, quote,
- 9:17Speaker 2: I wish we had been given more of a chance
- 9:19Speaker 2: to build an audience. He went on to say our
- 9:23Speaker 2: show was conceived under a prior ownership regime at CBS
- 9:27Speaker 2: Paramount and once the new owners took over, we had
- 9:30Speaker 2: no support. With the release of the show, we didn't
- 9:33Speaker 2: get any ads. You couldn't find us. I had friends
- 9:36Speaker 2: who would say, where is Starfleet Academy and I would say,
- 9:39Speaker 2: it's on Paramount Plus and they say, I have Paramount Plus,
- 9:42Speaker 2: I can't find it, and I thought, well, that's weird.
- 9:46Speaker 2: After the premiere episode, we kind of dropped off the menu. Usually,
- 9:49Speaker 2: if people have a history on Paramount Plus of watching
- 9:52Speaker 2: Star Trek, you would pitch them the new Star Trek show.
- 9:55Speaker 2: But that didn't happen on mine, and I wish we
- 9:58Speaker 2: had gotten more support.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Uh you know, yeah, I'm I don't know what he
- 10:11Speaker 4: means by that, because I I don't know his preferences
- 10:14Speaker 4: on on Paramount Plus and what it would show him.
- 10:17Speaker 2: But I know on mine it would pop up, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 2: a new a new episode dropped, it would say, you know,
- 10:25Speaker 2: it would have the banner when when the new episodes
- 10:27Speaker 2: would dropped. Yeah, but we were reviewing it and we
- 10:30Speaker 2: were watching it every week. So maybe I was like
- 10:33Speaker 2: considered a super user of a.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Sort right for that you were a super fan?
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so that that could have been the case. Uh.
- 10:43Speaker 2: And then we also have the alleged numbers from from
- 10:48Speaker 2: that leaked online that only forty thousand people watched an episode,
- 10:53Speaker 2: you know, each time. Yeah, so that that could be
- 10:56Speaker 2: also why it wasn't bushed. There's just no interest, you know.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, we've beaten this horse quite sure. But yeah,
- 11:10Speaker 1: Starfleet Academy suffered from so many different things. It had
- 11:14Speaker 1: the potential to be. I mean, right off the gate
- 11:17Speaker 1: set in the fifty seven thousandth century, it was a
- 11:22Speaker 1: bad idea.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Oh wait, hold on, if we're going to talk about
- 11:25Speaker 2: Starfleet Academy.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And I feel bad for all the actors
- 11:39Speaker 1: because I don't think we ever, at least for the
- 11:43Speaker 1: most part, we never said ah, it was bad acting.
- 11:46Speaker 1: We never said that. Yeah, And we for the most
- 11:50Speaker 1: part liked all these actors for the most part, liked
- 11:54Speaker 1: all the characters, you know. I mean, I was so
- 11:59Speaker 1: happy to see Robert Riccardo on the show.
- 12:03Speaker 2: He had a great episode.
- 12:04Speaker 1: He did have a really good episode. Yeah. And and
- 12:08Speaker 1: since I had I had just done a Voyager rewatch too,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and so you know that that really kind of kind
- 12:14Speaker 1: of hit home for me. And it had the potential
- 12:18Speaker 1: to be really good. And then I don't know who
- 12:20Speaker 1: screwed it up. I mean, I think we all know
- 12:23Speaker 1: who screwed it up. You know that he who shall
- 12:26Speaker 1: not be named, right, but and everybody knows my disdain
- 12:32Speaker 1: for him. But there was so many you know, it's
- 12:38Speaker 1: it's star Trek is a cake, and there's so many
- 12:41Speaker 1: ingredients to it, and and and Starfleet Academy lacked so
- 12:46Speaker 1: many of those ingredients or some of those ingredients are
- 12:48Speaker 1: just so bad. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. So, yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 1: I feel sorry for Robert Riccardo.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Yeah. And the thing is, like, you can tell the
- 12:58Speaker 2: actors that were in it love the show. I'm sure
- 13:02Speaker 2: I don't doubt that they had a blast making it.
- 13:05Speaker 2: The the guy that plays the Klingon forget his real name,
- 13:09Speaker 2: but he posted on his Instagram just this week that
- 13:14Speaker 2: he was showing the the gift that the what's her
- 13:18Speaker 2: name genesis, that actress, she she gave everyone a Starfleet
- 13:24Speaker 2: Academy yearbook as a goodbye president to the actors and
- 13:30Speaker 2: to the crew. So everybody got their yearbook. Their pictures
- 13:33Speaker 2: were in it, behind the scenes photos of it. I
- 13:35Speaker 2: mean it looks like a yearbook, right, Yeah, Yeah, and
- 13:38Speaker 2: like they all signed each other's yearbook. Like that's cool,
- 13:41Speaker 2: you know, like I think that's neat that they did
- 13:44Speaker 2: that for themselves, you know. Yeah, yeah, I mean clearly
- 13:47Speaker 2: they did love it.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But I don't special victims unit.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, definitely not definitely not you know, maybe an
- 13:56Speaker 2: avid elementary, but you.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Know, right, yeah, yeah, but.
- 14:01Speaker 2: That's I mean, that's a fun little bit. But yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 2: like I just I just wish that love translated better
- 14:07Speaker 2: into stuff that connected more with audiences. Sure, you know,
- 14:12Speaker 2: but it just it just didn't. All right.
- 14:16Speaker 1: It's either that or it did connect with a certain
- 14:18Speaker 1: audience that just didn't connect with us. Yeah, well, because
- 14:22Speaker 1: we are an audience of a certain demographic for sure.
- 14:27Speaker 2: But but if it had succeeded in that route, it
- 14:32Speaker 2: wouldn't be canceled, it wouldn't be you know, things would
- 14:36Speaker 2: not be up in the air right now as they are.
- 14:39Speaker 5: Ye.
- 14:40Speaker 2: So, so it clearly didn't do what is the what
- 14:44Speaker 2: was it was supposed to do.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So didn't grab that modern day saved by the Bell audience.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Well, and then the the other argument argument you can
- 14:53Speaker 2: make is all these franchises are This is something I've
- 14:57Speaker 2: been thinking about all these franchises are saying, we need
- 15:00Speaker 2: to build our audience, we need to grow it, right
- 15:03Speaker 2: from from Star Wars to Masters of the Universe to
- 15:09Speaker 2: you know, Star Trek. I've been trying to Ghostbusters, right,
- 15:14Speaker 2: Ghostbusters keeps swinging at it. But when you look at
- 15:18Speaker 2: the numbers, when you look at what's going on, none
- 15:21Speaker 2: of them are growing their audiences. They have their core
- 15:24Speaker 2: fan base. Everything, every new project that comes out for them,
- 15:28Speaker 2: it's only for that fan base. And and then the
- 15:32Speaker 2: fan base gets mad because whatever comes out feels watered
- 15:35Speaker 2: down to them because it's it's trying to appeal to
- 15:38Speaker 2: other people who don't want it as opposed to what
- 15:42Speaker 2: the fans want. Yeah, I'm trying to think of any
- 15:48Speaker 2: any formerly like the only thing that I can think
- 15:51Speaker 2: of that was formerly a big property then diminished and
- 15:56Speaker 2: then came back. It's either Ninja Turtles because they have
- 16:00Speaker 2: had several waves, or it's wrestling. Those are like the
- 16:04Speaker 2: only two, you know, and and both of those when
- 16:09Speaker 2: I think about, okay, well, what caused them to to
- 16:12Speaker 2: get popular again as opposed to you know, going back down?
- 16:17Speaker 2: And really the only two things I see is that
- 16:21Speaker 2: they get popular again when they go back to basics
- 16:25Speaker 2: and what it is. That was the core essentials of
- 16:28Speaker 2: that franchise. So with wrestling, you know, when they when
- 16:32Speaker 2: they branch out and they try to bring in celebrities
- 16:35Speaker 2: and they try to you know, do goofy matches like
- 16:39Speaker 2: that never works. But when they when they just do
- 16:42Speaker 2: storylines about the title, when they're when they're just focused
- 16:45Speaker 2: on their own product, fans get interested in that, and
- 16:47Speaker 2: then that brings back the popularity, which then brings in
- 16:50Speaker 2: new fans.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Same with the Ninja Turtals. Right when they when they
- 16:54Speaker 2: did you know, the movies were great, but then they
- 16:56Speaker 2: did the third movie, which was let's travel it into
- 16:58Speaker 2: the to the past and let's do all this goofy stuff, right,
- 17:02Speaker 2: so they so they got away of the core of
- 17:04Speaker 2: the Turtles fighting crime and stopping Shredder, right.
- 17:07Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, and then when.
- 17:09Speaker 2: They went back to that in I don't know, like
- 17:11Speaker 2: two thousand and three with that series, it raised the
- 17:14Speaker 2: popularity again. And then the twenty twelve show or whatever
- 17:18Speaker 2: that was for Nickelodeon, like it's done that and then
- 17:22Speaker 2: you know when they go goofy, then it it drops
- 17:25Speaker 2: down the popularity.
- 17:26Speaker 1: So yeah, you mentioned you know, I was trying to
- 17:29Speaker 1: think of a couple of data points just from my
- 17:31Speaker 1: perspective of franchises that, you know, gain new audiences versus
- 17:35Speaker 1: just kind of sustaining the audiences they already have their
- 17:37Speaker 1: fan base. And I was thinking about Star Wars and
- 17:41Speaker 1: my kids. Yeah, and they just became Star Wars fans
- 17:45Speaker 1: when they were sort of old enough to understand what
- 17:48Speaker 1: Star Wars is. Right, that's because Star Wars is Star Wars.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Then I was thinking about because they're Star Wars fans,
- 17:54Speaker 1: if I ask either one of my kids, are you
- 17:55Speaker 1: a fan of Star Wars? Yeah, I'm a fan of
- 17:57Speaker 1: Star Wars. They constantly quote it, you know, it's it's
- 17:59Speaker 1: sort of out there. Then I thought about Ghostbusters, and
- 18:03Speaker 1: I'm like, we all I love Ghostbusters. You know, yeah,
- 18:07Speaker 1: everybody loves Ghostbusters. Dan is obviously a huge fan of Ghostbusters, right,
- 18:13Speaker 1: And so we saw the new movies as a family,
- 18:16Speaker 1: and my kids like the new movies. Okay, but I
- 18:22Speaker 1: don't hear them quoting Ghostbusters. And if you ask them,
- 18:25Speaker 1: are you a Ghostbusters fan? It's like, yeah, I mean
- 18:29Speaker 1: I like it. I wouldn't call myself a fan. They
- 18:32Speaker 1: don't have any Ghostbusters Memoria Billia. They don't quote Ghostbusters.
- 18:36Speaker 1: They do Star Wars. So I don't know if it's
- 18:39Speaker 1: just because Star Wars is such a much larger franchise
- 18:42Speaker 1: and it's just out there more. I mean, it's not
- 18:46Speaker 1: like we can say they're doing something right, because over
- 18:48Speaker 1: the last five or ten years, Star Wars has made
- 18:51Speaker 1: some pretty monumental mistakes.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yeah. There's a there's a YouTuber I watch three C
- 18:58Speaker 2: Films and he was talking about Ghostbusters, and he said
- 19:01Speaker 2: that he strongly believes that Ghostbusters was never supposed to
- 19:06Speaker 2: be a franchise. That it was just a fun, goofy
- 19:08Speaker 2: movie and it was so big and so interesting with
- 19:12Speaker 2: its lore that they were like, oh shit, we got
- 19:14Speaker 2: to do more of these, I guess.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, yeah, build those Ecto one toys and
- 19:20Speaker 1: slimer toys, you know, yeah, because you as a company,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you have to capitalize on.
- 19:26Speaker 2: It, right, right, absolutely, But that they was never designed
- 19:29Speaker 2: to do that. It was just to just be like,
- 19:31Speaker 2: let's do this fun ghost movie just for you know,
- 19:34Speaker 2: just hang out with our buddies and do it. And
- 19:35Speaker 2: then oh no, it's way more popular than we thought
- 19:38Speaker 2: it wouldn't be. Oh no, yeah, which I can kind
- 19:43Speaker 2: of see it like the way it's laid out, you know.
- 19:45Speaker 2: So all right, let's get to our last news story.
- 19:50Speaker 2: This tends to us from Red Shirts Always Die. And
- 19:55Speaker 2: I don't know if you know this, but this week
- 19:59Speaker 2: was an interesting development for us to find out we
- 20:01Speaker 2: now have Captain Batman. A Star Trek actor Yeah, has
- 20:06Speaker 2: been cast to play Batman in the upcoming Nightfall animated film.
- 20:13Speaker 2: This follows the famous Nightfall storyline where Batman gets his
- 20:18Speaker 2: back broken by Bain and someone else takes over the
- 20:23Speaker 2: mantle of Batman. Yeah, so Captain Pike himself Anson Mount
- 20:30Speaker 2: will be the voice of Batman.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Love. Yeah.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw the trailer part of it. Yeah, yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: I think he does a good job. Other actors within
- 20:44Speaker 2: this is Michael Mando. He will be Bain's voice. Michael
- 20:49Speaker 2: Mando plays a scorpion in the Spider Man movies.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Oh okay, yeah, he was.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Also in Upbreaking Bad, so I think he's a good
- 20:58Speaker 2: fit for Bain. Yeah. And then, uh, we's just named
- 21:03Speaker 2: David del Smaalshen something like that, played Polka dot Man
- 21:07Speaker 2: in Suicide Squad. He's gonna be Riddler so okay, yeah, yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 2: I could see that too. I could see him playing
- 21:16Speaker 2: Riddler for real too.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah. I was just thinking that, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 2: So I don't know when this movie comes out. I
- 21:25Speaker 2: can't I don't know if the the article says, but
- 21:30Speaker 2: this will be what's interesting about this Nightfall movie is
- 21:33Speaker 2: the the graphic novels. There's like three big graphic novels.
- 21:37Speaker 2: It's a big storyline, and so for the movie, they're
- 21:40Speaker 2: doing that too. It'll be three movies. Okay, so this
- 21:43Speaker 2: is a trilogy, so we'll get at least three. Captain
- 21:47Speaker 2: Batman's within se yeah.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Yeah, they sort of did the storyline for Dark Knight
- 21:53Speaker 1: Rises kind of.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they touched on it. They broke his back, and
- 21:59Speaker 2: you know, it's a pretty good storyline. I don't know
- 22:03Speaker 2: if you've ever read it, but.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I haven't read I haven't read many graphic novels, so yeah,
- 22:08Speaker 1: but I'm familiar with it just because it's sort of
- 22:11Speaker 1: out there.
- 22:12Speaker 2: They they turned it into an actual novel, and I
- 22:15Speaker 2: know that there's an audiobook of it. Took the whole storyline.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Ye know, you like audio books.
- 22:21Speaker 1: So that's why I do like audio books.
- 22:25Speaker 2: All Right, Well that's all the news. It's been pretty
- 22:29Speaker 2: pretty slow going this past couple of weeks.
- 22:32Speaker 1: But yeah, no, uh no, Paramount Plus drama.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I'm not yet, you know, give it time. It's still
- 22:39Speaker 2: got to proceed.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Where do we know where we're at with that?
- 22:44Speaker 2: So last we knew last in well this merger ever
- 22:47Speaker 2: happened struggles. You know, the d o J gave their
- 22:53Speaker 2: okay or I think it's the DJ. They had to
- 22:55Speaker 2: prove it, but they said it's cool. But they still
- 22:58Speaker 2: have to go through the EU and a couple other
- 23:01Speaker 2: international regulatory commissions because it's not just the US government
- 23:05Speaker 2: that gives it's blessing, and it's because it's an international conglomerate.
- 23:09Speaker 2: It's like all these players. Yeah, so so they still
- 23:13Speaker 2: have a few more. I know that there's a there's
- 23:15Speaker 2: a deadline I want to say, like last quarter of
- 23:18Speaker 2: the year that if the if it doesn't go through,
- 23:22Speaker 2: then Paramount has to pay Warner Brothers for every quarter
- 23:26Speaker 2: that it doesn't happen.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 23:30Speaker 2: So that's funny.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I've been hearing a lot of online chatter about boycotting
- 23:36Speaker 1: Paramount Plus and you know there's a lot of politics
- 23:40Speaker 1: behind that too.
- 23:41Speaker 2: That too.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Yeah, you know that the owners of Paramount Plus or
- 23:45Speaker 1: lean a certain way politically, and a lot of people
- 23:47Speaker 1: don't like that. And right, and it's like, I mean,
- 23:52Speaker 1: I just want to watch my shows.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I know, I don't.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I don't care about the left or the right or
- 23:58Speaker 1: any of that stuff. I just want to watch my shows. Yeah,
- 24:01Speaker 1: I want to think about who I'm supporting while I'm
- 24:03Speaker 1: watching the shows, either. I just want to watch my shows. Right,
- 24:07Speaker 1: So you know, I don't want politics to get in
- 24:10Speaker 1: the way of my entertainment. That's that's a separate part
- 24:14Speaker 1: of my life. That's a separate part of everybody's life.
- 24:16Speaker 1: There's there's entertainment in one part of your brain, and
- 24:19Speaker 1: then there's religion in one part, and then there's politics
- 24:22Speaker 1: in another. And I want my entertainment to be way
- 24:25Speaker 1: over here in in this part of my brain, okay,
- 24:30Speaker 1: And I want it to be separate. I just want
- 24:33Speaker 1: to be entertained. I just want to watch my damn shows.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I think as somebody like me who's trying to make
- 24:40Speaker 2: it in Hollywood, I don't like that there's going to
- 24:42Speaker 2: be less opportunities because there's less you know, companies that
- 24:48Speaker 2: I really don't like. But I don't like to start
- 24:54Speaker 2: another studio from scratch. Is so difficult, in so much money,
- 24:59Speaker 2: in so much you know, resources, that it's it's not
- 25:03Speaker 2: viable or not easily viable, right, So right, that's the
- 25:10Speaker 2: tough thing, man. I I don't know. I'm not happy
- 25:15Speaker 2: about the merger, but it's gonna happen one way or
- 25:16Speaker 2: the other. And that's just what it is.
- 25:19Speaker 1: So well, here's to you making it big in Hollywood.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Some someday that you know, people will be saying your
- 25:26Speaker 1: name next to like Vince Gilligans.
- 25:28Speaker 2: And and and then I can revive Eke the Cat.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, there you go, Eke the Cat.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yes, yes, something nobody talks about.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Someday. It's going to be a pretty big deal when
- 25:40Speaker 1: I tell people, Yeah, I'm friends with Daniel ray Is.
- 25:43Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Hopefully we used to do a podcast together. Already stopped
- 25:48Speaker 1: doing the podcast once you get started producing those big
- 25:52Speaker 1: giant Blockbuster.
- 25:53Speaker 2: TV just started making those Eat the Cat movies, right,
- 25:56Speaker 2: these gritty reboot of Eke the Cat.
- 25:59Speaker 1: You you will remember us, won't you.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I can either promise nor deny.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Yeah, man, you used to be cool, Daniel.
- 26:13Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. I'm sorry, I can't hear you
- 26:16Speaker 2: from my yacht. What was that?
- 26:22Speaker 1: Well, hopefully you'll you'll fly Dan and I in sometime.
- 26:24Speaker 2: There you go, there you go. All right, let's get
- 26:27Speaker 2: to the main topic. Because we speaking of Hollywood. We
- 26:30Speaker 2: have got a Hollywood story to talk about. So fine, well,
- 26:33Speaker 2: now come out, Oh, Jasmins says, do a crossover episode?
- 26:42Speaker 2: Do you want to crossover of Eke the Cat and Ghostbusters?
- 26:44Speaker 2: What crossovers do you want? I need? I need details
- 26:51Speaker 2: there right right? Yeah, all right, so we are talking
- 26:55Speaker 2: for the love of Spock. This film came out and is.
- 26:59Speaker 1: In the house.
- 27:00Speaker 2: There you go say, yeah, this came out in twenty sixteen,
- 27:05Speaker 2: just after the death of Leonard Nimoy. He died the
- 27:09Speaker 2: year before. In twenty fifteen. This was it released in theaters.
- 27:15Speaker 2: I don't even remember.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I honestly don't know. I yeah, I don't remember either. Yeah,
- 27:24Speaker 1: usually these I mean, I don't know, do these crowdfunded?
- 27:27Speaker 2: There was a minimal US release in theaters, but it
- 27:31Speaker 2: was also on VOD day and date. So that means
- 27:34Speaker 2: you can watch it in the theaters or watch it
- 27:36Speaker 2: at home. Okay, yeah, so okay, so yes, that answers
- 27:40Speaker 2: that question. Yeah. There was also like a Blu ray.
- 27:44Speaker 2: You can buy a DVD, but yeah, it's it's basically
- 27:48Speaker 2: free on YouTube right now. And uh yeah, it was
- 27:52Speaker 2: done by Adam Nimoy, the son of Leonard Nimoy. Spot
- 27:57Speaker 2: m h and it was uh uh, I don't know,
- 28:01Speaker 2: what did you think of it?
- 28:02Speaker 1: I liked it, Okay, I did like it. It after
- 28:08Speaker 1: the so this was originally just going to be a
- 28:11Speaker 1: documentary about Spock correct the character and right, and after
- 28:18Speaker 1: the death of Leonard Nimoy, they decided Adam Nimoy decided
- 28:23Speaker 1: that it should also be a documentary about Leonard Nimoy
- 28:28Speaker 1: the actor. And I, yeah, I liked it. I don't
- 28:34Speaker 1: watch a ton of documentaries, but I you know, I
- 28:38Speaker 1: like the subject matter. There's a couple of things that
- 28:40Speaker 1: that struck me on this documentary.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Number one, they had a ton of celebrity guest interviews.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I mean yeah, they they had showrunners from like, you know,
- 28:58Speaker 1: Big Bang Theory. They star Trek actors, I mean they
- 29:02Speaker 1: called in a lot of big name I mean Neil
- 29:04Speaker 1: deGrasse Tyson was on it. So yeah, I really I
- 29:11Speaker 1: really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed it. What were your
- 29:13Speaker 1: thoughts on it we collect.
- 29:15Speaker 2: I you know, it's really funny watching it. I was
- 29:21Speaker 2: struck with this to me felt more than anything more
- 29:26Speaker 2: than you know, hey, look at how cool my dad
- 29:29Speaker 2: was and or look how cool Star Spock was. To me,
- 29:34Speaker 2: it felt like a son who had a tough time
- 29:40Speaker 2: with his dad and now that his dad is gone,
- 29:43Speaker 2: he's working through that and and he he does love
- 29:48Speaker 2: his dad, but it wasn't always that way between them, right,
- 29:54Speaker 2: And like I I could feel that throughout the whole
- 29:57Speaker 2: thing because they bring it up quite a bit, right
- 30:00Speaker 2: that that they had tough times. They went times where
- 30:03Speaker 2: they were estranged from each other and not talking and
- 30:10Speaker 2: that's rough, right, like that, that's not ideal for anyone.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Oh this, Yeah, this documentary is definitely a therapy session
- 30:16Speaker 1: for Adam Neber. Yeah, very much.
- 30:18Speaker 2: So that's what it felt like, you know. But that said,
- 30:26Speaker 2: I thought that was so interesting too, and to put
- 30:29Speaker 2: yourself out there like that and be so vulnerable, you know.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. My other thought about the documentary is
- 30:38Speaker 1: I was thinking, because I think they've done I mean,
- 30:43Speaker 1: I have a book called I Am Spock mm hmm,
- 30:47Speaker 1: and I I also read I Am Not Spock, which
- 30:50Speaker 1: came out before that. That's why I wrote my my
- 30:55Speaker 1: my name is I am Scott, I am Spock ye
- 30:59Speaker 1: and I and I read I am Spock and and
- 31:01Speaker 1: it was basically letter Nimoy's love letter to Spock, just
- 31:07Speaker 1: like this documentary was sort of Adam Niemoy's love letter
- 31:12Speaker 1: to his dad. Yeah, but also you know, it was
- 31:16Speaker 1: a therapy session for Adam Nimoy. My other thought was
- 31:21Speaker 1: who else would you make a documentary about?
- 31:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that that's the spot I thought.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, you don't see people making documentaries about
- 31:33Speaker 1: William Shatner or Brent Spiner.
- 31:36Speaker 2: No, well, William Shatner makes documentaries about himself.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Well, yeah, documentary makes documentaries about himself all the time.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Nobody watched them when he talks about him. You don't
- 31:44Speaker 1: see documentaries about Wharf. You don't see documentaries about Chacota
- 31:50Speaker 1: or you know, you see documentaries about Voyager. You see
- 31:54Speaker 1: documents about D Space nine.
- 31:56Speaker 2: There's the George one coming out.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Is there? Okay, there's one, Yeah, there's Alu one coming up.
- 32:02Speaker 1: But my thought was the character of Spock most represent
- 32:08Speaker 1: If you were to say star trek h, Spock is
- 32:12Speaker 1: the one that comes to mind. Oh, Spock is the
- 32:15Speaker 1: one that that sort of represents if you were just
- 32:20Speaker 1: if you were to just pick one character, one actor,
- 32:23Speaker 1: it would be Spock to represent in in almost all
- 32:27Speaker 1: all things. I mean, he he's a little bit alien,
- 32:30Speaker 1: so he represents that part of Star Trek, but he's
- 32:32Speaker 1: half human, so he kind of pulls you in and
- 32:34Speaker 1: and it makes it relatable. You know, he's probably the
- 32:39Speaker 1: of all characters in all of Star Trek lore, he's
- 32:42Speaker 1: got to be the most iconic because when people, you know,
- 32:46Speaker 1: go to conventions, when when we sign off from the show,
- 32:48Speaker 1: what do we do? We do this? Yeah, it's it's
- 32:55Speaker 1: and it's from a television series, honestly is not. It's
- 32:57Speaker 1: not my favorite Star Trek series. Yeah, yeah, but it's
- 33:01Speaker 1: the most iconic, and Spock, I think is the most
- 33:05Speaker 1: iconic Star Trek character of all time. Mm hmmm. So
- 33:09Speaker 1: that's yeah, that's sort of what I took away from
- 33:10Speaker 1: the documentary.
- 33:12Speaker 2: You know, similar to what you were saying. What I
- 33:14Speaker 2: thought was, it's so fascinating to me that of all
- 33:20Speaker 2: the franchises out there, you're not seeing documentaries about Mark Hamill, Right,
- 33:26Speaker 2: you don't. You don't get you know, documentaries about mcgiver, right,
- 33:31Speaker 2: or you know, but but Star Trek people are so
- 33:37Speaker 2: into it that there are, you know, the documentaries about
- 33:40Speaker 2: the shows. You know, there's the Captain's documentary that's just
- 33:43Speaker 2: about the captains, right, which is like mini docs of
- 33:46Speaker 2: each of each one. But to do this that so
- 33:51Speaker 2: singularly focused on one character, you know that that's kind
- 33:57Speaker 2: of amazing that this franchise inspires that much love. Absolutely,
- 34:02Speaker 2: you know, you don't get that from anything else. So
- 34:08Speaker 2: I don't know what that says about the fan base.
- 34:10Speaker 2: I mean that they're rabinous and want more, clearly.
- 34:14Speaker 1: But.
- 34:16Speaker 2: It's just it's so interesting.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I was just gonna go through a few
- 34:23Speaker 1: of the people that were on this documentary we had, yeah,
- 34:28Speaker 1: go for it. William Shatner was there, obviously, Zacharo Quinto,
- 34:32Speaker 1: Zachary Quintro was in it. It was interesting to see
- 34:39Speaker 1: because this came out ten years ago, so we didn't
- 34:41Speaker 1: have like, you know, Discovery and Strange New Worlds yet.
- 34:45Speaker 1: But it was interesting to see the dynamic between Zachary
- 34:49Speaker 1: Quinto and Leonard Nimoy, you know, and it brought back
- 34:54Speaker 1: fond memories of of when they brought leon Nimoy into
- 34:57Speaker 1: the JJ verse.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Yeah, Chris Pine was in it, Jim Parsons was in it,
- 35:03Speaker 1: Walter Koenig, Zoe's Oldanna, Simon Peg, Carl Urban, Mayan Baileck,
- 35:09Speaker 1: Jason Alexander. I was thrilled to see like Nick Meyer,
- 35:16Speaker 1: he's an old Star Trek director and producer, and yeah
- 35:19Speaker 1: he wrote the fourth movie. Yeah. Uh just uh oh
- 35:25Speaker 1: DC Fontana, Yeah, it was interesting to see her. And
- 35:31Speaker 1: she had to go by d. C. Fontana and not
- 35:34Speaker 1: her given name, which is Dorothy, because obviously women are
- 35:39Speaker 1: can't write for Star Trek. You know, we all know that.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I'm sure that's gonna become a SoundBite. But yeah, uh
- 35:50Speaker 1: Angelina Joelee wasn't it Uh yeah, Johnny.
- 35:54Speaker 2: As a clip. It's not like they interviewed her.
- 35:57Speaker 1: No, well she it was. It was a clip from
- 36:00Speaker 1: when she was on an old John Stewart show. Think
- 36:06Speaker 1: was it the Daily Show? It was, yeah, it was really,
- 36:09Speaker 1: but it was John Stewart when when John Stewart had
- 36:13Speaker 1: all non gray hair.
- 36:16Speaker 2: That's right, that's right, maybe his first year of the
- 36:19Speaker 2: Daily Show.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and there was an interview they mentioned Star Trek,
- 36:23Speaker 1: I mean just this huge phenomenon. Well, she I think
- 36:25Speaker 1: she mentioned spocking it. Yeah, yeah, so many, so many
- 36:32Speaker 1: people Steve Gutenberg, Yeah, from some past uh interviews.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Yeah, because because Leonard Nimoy directed Three Men in a
- 36:42Speaker 2: Baby Yep.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Yep, Yeah, there's some there's some big, big names of
- 36:48Speaker 1: people who you know, sort of showed up in in
- 36:52Speaker 1: like past footage and things like that. But yeah, cultural phenomenon, yeah.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Yeah, for you know. I I really liked the documentary.
- 37:05Speaker 2: I thought it was really well done. I don't know
- 37:08Speaker 2: what I would change or do any different, but I don't.
- 37:16Speaker 2: I think it came out at the right time for it,
- 37:19Speaker 2: especially right after his death. But it would be interesting
- 37:23Speaker 2: to see now the two the two spots we have
- 37:29Speaker 2: reflecting on on him a little bit more. I don't
- 37:31Speaker 2: know if a documentary or like, I don't I don't
- 37:35Speaker 2: think there's enough for a documentary with that, but it
- 37:37Speaker 2: would be cool, Like I don't know, maybe a comic
- 37:39Speaker 2: con pandle between the two of them talking about it. Yeah,
- 37:44Speaker 2: that would be.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Not Walter pack.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Ethan pack Yeah, it's Walter.
- 37:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 37:56Speaker 1: If it's a guy from Ghostbusters.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Oh, that's right, that's right.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I got Ghostbusters on the braid that's right.
- 38:03Speaker 2: That's right. I will say this that the documentary made
- 38:09Speaker 2: me realize one thing, daddy's helped you feel good.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Yeah, they definitely were some daddy issues of that. Another
- 38:23Speaker 1: thing too, this, especially towards the end, it was a
- 38:27Speaker 1: tear jerker. Yeah, it was a tear jerker. Yeah. I
- 38:31Speaker 1: found myself wiping away a tear every once in a while.
- 38:37Speaker 1: And they you know, they did that, uh huh the
- 38:40Speaker 1: burning Man scene. Yeah yeah, yeah, I you're into this,
- 38:50Speaker 1: into this landscape, but I I hadn't seen the cinematography
- 38:55Speaker 1: of the burning Man scene, of the music and the
- 38:59Speaker 1: fire and and the pictures in in in the fire
- 39:03Speaker 1: that were slowly.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I liked that. I mean it was simple, you know,
- 39:09Speaker 1: and the and the lizard. Part of my brain was
- 39:11Speaker 1: just like yeah, you know, I I just I liked it.
- 39:17Speaker 1: It made me.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Cry, and uh, it's very artistic.
- 39:20Speaker 1: It was, Yeah, I thought so too, coming from again,
- 39:24Speaker 1: coming from somebody who's not an artist or you know,
- 39:27Speaker 1: isn't part of that landscape. But I thought it was
- 39:31Speaker 1: very well done and uh yeah, well shot and uh yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 1: they did a good job. I mean, if they were
- 39:37Speaker 1: going for a jerking a tear out of you they succeeded.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Yeah, very well done.
- 39:48Speaker 1: But and they played they they played that clip more
- 39:52Speaker 1: than once of of Spock dying in Star Trek two. Yeah,
- 39:57Speaker 1: that's always. That's always. I mean, if you want to
- 39:59Speaker 1: get a grown man to cry, any sci fi fan
- 40:03Speaker 1: that's a grown man, you want to get him cry,
- 40:05Speaker 1: you play that scene, oh for sure and subsequent funeral
- 40:10Speaker 1: for sure.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Yeah. I do like that.
- 40:12Speaker 1: That.
- 40:13Speaker 2: That was how they got him to come back is
- 40:15Speaker 2: they're like, hey, we'll kill you off and give you
- 40:17Speaker 2: will kill you. We'll give you the best dest scene ever.
- 40:20Speaker 2: And he's like okay.
- 40:21Speaker 1: He's like okay. Then they gave him that sort of
- 40:24Speaker 1: out scene with the remember and Doctor McCoy and they're like, hey,
- 40:29Speaker 1: you want to come back and do Star Trek three.
- 40:30Speaker 2: He's like yeah, sure, yeah, I like money, Sure I'll direct.
- 40:36Speaker 1: And then they're like okay, well and then you know,
- 40:40Speaker 1: they they talked about how they wanted to do Star
- 40:44Speaker 1: Trek four and he's like, well, yeah, but see last time,
- 40:49Speaker 1: you guys really you know you want to control over
- 40:52Speaker 1: this and you were babysitting me on that and they're
- 40:55Speaker 1: like okay, this franchise has made a ton of money.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Go ahead and just do whatever you want.
- 41:00Speaker 2: And he's like, Okay, you like the goofiest Star Trek
- 41:04Speaker 2: movie to do.
- 41:05Speaker 1: You can do anything you want. He's like, we're traveling
- 41:09Speaker 1: back in time and we're looking for whales.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Yep.
- 41:15Speaker 1: And everybody was like huh and let her Nie Boy
- 41:17Speaker 1: must have been like, hey, they said I could do it.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, we're gonna test it.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought it was great, you know. And and
- 41:26Speaker 1: on paper, honestly, that movie should not have that movie
- 41:31Speaker 1: box office, Bob, nobody should. Everybody should remember that movie
- 41:36Speaker 1: the way we remember Star Trek five. But it's one
- 41:41Speaker 1: of the most beloved Star Trek movies of all time.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a lot of.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Star Trek four. As non Star Trek fans call it,
- 41:49Speaker 1: it's Start Trick four, the one with the whales.
- 41:52Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. Yeah, well yeah, no, I like
- 41:58Speaker 2: the documentary. I thought it was a lot of fun.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I'm I'm glad we watched it, you know. Yeah, so, oh,
- 42:06Speaker 2: look at this Monoma nominem review the Visitor from DS nine.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Please it's the best issue.
- 42:14Speaker 1: I I would not be opposed.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm me either either.
- 42:19Speaker 1: I would not be opposed.
- 42:20Speaker 2: We've got to come up with some from the show.
- 42:22Speaker 1: I think that yeah, even you know, because before Strange
- 42:27Speaker 1: New Worlds comes out, and even after Strange Worlds, I
- 42:30Speaker 1: think fans are liking these little one off episode reviews.
- 42:36Speaker 1: So if I'm wrong, let me know. But if you
- 42:38Speaker 1: guys want to see more episode reviews to fill in
- 42:41Speaker 1: when we don't have New Trek, you know, just some popular,
- 42:46Speaker 1: you know, one off episodes. Obviously, we're not going to
- 42:48Speaker 1: go through each series and do like a you know,
- 42:51Speaker 1: an episodic review of each series, just because there aren't
- 42:54Speaker 1: enough podcast days in the in the year. But right, yeah,
- 42:59Speaker 1: if you guys want to see us do more, just
- 43:02Speaker 1: you know, single episode reviews of like you know, fan
- 43:06Speaker 1: fan favorite episodes, let us know.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we have ideas, but yeah, that would
- 43:11Speaker 2: be great's much as specific episodes that you want to see.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Yeah, the visitor is a great idea.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Yeah, the visitor will be great. Well let's uh if
- 43:21Speaker 2: you want to cry that's true. Well, let's get to
- 43:25Speaker 2: uh to listener feedback. We got Jacob waiting to come on,
- 43:28Speaker 2: so okay, let's do that listener feedback before we get
- 43:37Speaker 2: to Jacob, just to let everyone know we are on
- 43:40Speaker 2: social media at trek cast TG. We're on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter,
- 43:46Speaker 2: x whatever you want to call it, TikTok, Instagram. We're
- 43:49Speaker 2: all over there. Also, we have a voicemail line. You
- 43:53Speaker 2: can leave us a voicemail at five seven zero six
- 43:55Speaker 2: six one zero zero zero one. That's five seven zero
- 43:59Speaker 2: six six one one zero zero zero one. Nobody is
- 44:02Speaker 2: picking up the phone. You just leave a voicemail.
- 44:05Speaker 1: So you don't want me to answer.
- 44:07Speaker 2: I mean you can if you want to. I don't
- 44:10Speaker 2: know how you're gonna answer virtual phone, but you know.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Trek asks to Scott.
- 44:15Speaker 2: There you go, There you go.
- 44:17Speaker 1: No, nobody's gonna answer to leave a voicemail, and I
- 44:19Speaker 1: haven't had a voicemail a little while, so please somebody
- 44:22Speaker 1: call that number and leave us a voicemail and just
- 44:24Speaker 1: tell us about what you think about anything, current state
- 44:28Speaker 1: of current star Trek. Yeah, you know, what you think
- 44:32Speaker 1: about my hair? Anything you want? Okay, anything you want.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Right, that's right, all right. We got Jacob on the line,
- 44:40Speaker 2: first time caller, so let's bring him in there. He is, Hey,
- 44:44Speaker 2: there's Jacob.
- 44:44Speaker 5: How are you doing day, Good morning guys, first time.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Good morning Jacob.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Yeah, did you watch the the Spot documentary.
- 44:53Speaker 5: No, I haven't. I haven't had a chance to, but
- 44:55Speaker 5: it's it's on my list.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Okay, definitely, yeah.
- 44:58Speaker 5: Yeah, and then watching The Enterprise.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Oh you've been watching Enterprise? Okay?
- 45:04Speaker 5: Yes, one of my favorite series.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Yeah, one of my favorite characters. Yeah, what's work the rewatch?
- 45:11Speaker 1: Uh?
- 45:12Speaker 5: Not many good shows coming out here lately. It is
- 45:15Speaker 5: just a lot of good old shows I've been wanting
- 45:17Speaker 5: to rewatch.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I watched.
- 45:19Speaker 5: We watched it like four or five times already.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Okay, okay, do you have a favorite character on Enterprise?
- 45:25Speaker 3: Uh?
- 45:28Speaker 5: Paul definitely had character built up.
- 45:29Speaker 2: I loved Paul.
- 45:31Speaker 5: Everybody didn't like her first because of the Balkans and everything,
- 45:33Speaker 5: and then eventually she became a really good character, especially
- 45:37Speaker 5: when the Herd trip got together.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, okay, I was gonna say that is one
- 45:42Speaker 1: of my all time favorite Star Trek characters.
- 45:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:45Speaker 1: I like him.
- 45:47Speaker 5: I wish we saw more of him.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yep, me too. And I I've been in
- 45:52Speaker 1: the camp that says I think this alive.
- 45:57Speaker 5: We didn't this clone dive.
- 46:00Speaker 1: His clone clone did die, but at the very end
- 46:03Speaker 1: of the series spoiler alert, when he he goes into
- 46:10Speaker 1: the chamber what do they call the chambers and star Trek,
- 46:14Speaker 1: the medical chambers whatever. We don't see anything after that.
- 46:19Speaker 1: The last thing that happens is he goes into that
- 46:21Speaker 1: bio chamber and he kind of has a little grin
- 46:23Speaker 1: on his face, like everything's gonna be okay. They never
- 46:26Speaker 1: have a funeral, they never say he died. There is
- 46:28Speaker 1: no dialogue stating what happened to him.
- 46:30Speaker 5: So yeah, they really they really should have done a
- 46:33Speaker 5: better fourth season. I really hope Scott back comes back
- 46:36Speaker 5: and continues the story.
- 46:38Speaker 2: I mean that's the rumor. So we'll see.
- 46:42Speaker 5: And with the aging nowadays, they can make him live
- 46:44Speaker 5: on forever.
- 46:45Speaker 2: That's true, just the c. Gus Archer.
- 46:49Speaker 5: Yeah, the way all predicted it's gonna happen on the
- 46:52Speaker 5: season two of Starky Academy.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Oh if we more. The actors have been saying that
- 47:01Speaker 2: it's gonna be more of the same. I think it's
- 47:04Speaker 2: gonna be a lot of angry people on the internet.
- 47:09Speaker 5: No doubt there.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Yeah. I think it's interesting to me that they said
- 47:14Speaker 2: that there's no big bad or am I thinking of
- 47:17Speaker 2: strange new worlds?
- 47:19Speaker 5: I'm thinking they'll probably have rushed ending everybody's gonna hate
- 47:23Speaker 5: the ending, but everybody hates to show anyway, So no harm,
- 47:26Speaker 5: no foul.
- 47:26Speaker 2: I haven't feeling they'll leave. I think they're gonna leave
- 47:30Speaker 2: an ending where it is like over but you could
- 47:34Speaker 2: do more right, hoping that they could. Yeah, something like that.
- 47:38Speaker 5: So now, I'm not really a huge stan of Doctor Who,
- 47:41Speaker 5: but a star Trek Doctor Who would be a great
- 47:43Speaker 5: cross crossover.
- 47:44Speaker 2: I think it's a good way to bring in new
- 47:46Speaker 2: fans for both.
- 47:47Speaker 5: So yes, I guess I've never seen an episode of
- 47:50Speaker 5: Doctor Who, but I've seen clips and pieces.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fun. It's fun. I like Doctor Who's so yeah.
- 48:00Speaker 1: So, Jacob, how how long have you been listening to
- 48:02Speaker 1: treck Cast?
- 48:03Speaker 5: I've been listening to you. I got my job about
- 48:06Speaker 5: a year and a half ago. I was stumbling through
- 48:08Speaker 5: different podcasts with about about a year now.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Oh nice, Okay, okay, nice.
- 48:13Speaker 5: I'm from North Carolina.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Okay, okay, that's what I was gonna ask. Next is
- 48:17Speaker 2: where you're from?
- 48:19Speaker 5: A good old North Carolina.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Let's see there you go.
- 48:22Speaker 1: So you don't know how I got the job here,
- 48:24Speaker 1: how I kidnapped and enslaved one of the one of
- 48:27Speaker 1: the previous co hosts, and Chad and uh he's now
- 48:31Speaker 1: locked my iou the first.
- 48:33Speaker 5: I went back as far back as two thousand and
- 48:35Speaker 5: eight just to see who is somebody else host? That's like, wow, big,
- 48:42Speaker 5: big difference in like twenty years almost.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, if you go even further back, yeah, yeah,
- 48:48Speaker 2: yeah for sure.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Wait wait talking about start, I don't even leave. Yeah
- 48:54Speaker 1: two thousand and eight, so it's been almost twenty.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I used to be channel.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Oh yeah, goodness. You know, Daniel, if if you and
- 49:04Speaker 1: I and Dan hold out for another two years, we'll
- 49:08Speaker 1: have to have a big twentieth like hoopla.
- 49:12Speaker 2: That's crazy to think about.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Yeah, well, the time taking a meet up? Yeah maybe
- 49:19Speaker 1: if we're if we're around in two years, yeah, we
- 49:21Speaker 1: could do a meetup.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:24Speaker 5: They have Star Trek conventions in North Carolina. They have
- 49:26Speaker 5: they have Galaxy con They have Star Trek conventions Charlotte.
- 49:29Speaker 1: North Carolina. No, yeah, I love the Carolina everywhere, beautiful country.
- 49:35Speaker 1: I never did.
- 49:36Speaker 5: I've never been to the convention myself, but I've been.
- 49:37Speaker 5: I've been. I've been dying to go to one.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Oh they're fun, they're fun.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Yeah. We've been to a couple of conventions in Chicago.
- 49:45Speaker 1: And uh, back in twenty twenty two, I met up
- 49:47Speaker 1: with the this is before I was a host. I
- 49:50Speaker 1: met up with the Trek cast guys in Chicago and
- 49:52Speaker 1: we had a great time.
- 49:54Speaker 2: That was crazy.
- 49:56Speaker 5: Love I love I love the one. I love conventions, man,
- 49:59Speaker 5: I was checking go to one.
- 50:01Speaker 2: You should go. There are a lot of fun.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely go and well Dan and Daniel went to
- 50:06Speaker 1: a Trek convention. What a year or two ago? Two
- 50:08Speaker 1: years ago? In two years ago, New York.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 50:14Speaker 1: We'll have to start making some initial planning for a
- 50:18Speaker 1: twenty twenty eight yeah, get together somewhere something. Do you
- 50:23Speaker 1: think two years is enough time to save up? And
- 50:26Speaker 1: how do we feel about.
- 50:26Speaker 5: What the puppet episode coming out?
- 50:30Speaker 2: Uh, it's yeah. I just I hope it's good. I
- 50:37Speaker 2: really do.
- 50:38Speaker 5: But it would be a great way to bring shatter
- 50:41Speaker 5: us puppet.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Yeah. I would almost prefer now, yeah, I would almost
- 50:52Speaker 2: prefer if there was like a puppet species, like that's
- 50:55Speaker 2: just how they are, you know, that could be.
- 50:58Speaker 5: Good one yeah, all some kind of acid making them
- 51:01Speaker 5: think their own puppets?
- 51:02Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Why not? Yeah?
- 51:07Speaker 5: A planet?
- 51:09Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 51:10Speaker 5: Have you do him be the host?
- 51:12Speaker 2: Yeah? You land there and all of a sudden, you're
- 51:14Speaker 2: liking the muppets. You're the one human and they're all
- 51:16Speaker 2: just running around.
- 51:18Speaker 1: You should have them do it.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's something I think that'd be hilarious.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Trick.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Yeah, today's a way message is brought to you by
- 51:30Speaker 2: the letter C in the number.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 51:34Speaker 5: That is awesome.
- 51:39Speaker 2: But all right, well thanks for being on, Jacob. Anything
- 51:43Speaker 2: else you want to say before we go?
- 51:45Speaker 5: Uh live balk and prosper Doug all.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Right, yeah, thanks man, Yeah, thanks for being on. We
- 51:50Speaker 1: appreciate it.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Take care of thank you, thank you bye.
- 51:55Speaker 1: All right.
- 51:56Speaker 2: We also have Chasms on the line. So, uh, I've
- 52:00Speaker 2: been getting the tour of his houses. He's running around.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Bring him up.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Yeah, there he is, there's Chas Biz. How you doing man, Hey, Hey,
- 52:11Speaker 2: did you did you watch this spot documentary?
- 52:15Speaker 3: The Spot?
- 52:16Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 52:17Speaker 1: Yeah, well here you Oh he doesn't hear us? Oh no,
- 52:22Speaker 1: I like the bewildered look out of his face though.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I know, look at that. I'm gonna I'm gonna take
- 52:28Speaker 2: him out until he figures it out.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Till he figures it out.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but we heard him. I don't know what's going
- 52:35Speaker 2: on there. Yeah, he heard Jacob. He's like, somebody's taking
- 52:39Speaker 2: my spot. I gotta go, right yeah.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Yeah, oh my goodness, yeah yeah, the the Muppet, the Puppet.
- 52:51Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, apparently there's a rumor that they're
- 52:58Speaker 2: going for this is the sixtieth anniversary of Star Trek,
- 53:03Speaker 2: and so they will be doing an episode about con
- 53:06Speaker 2: in season four the Strange New Worlds allegedly, okay, and
- 53:12Speaker 2: that they're gonna.
- 53:12Speaker 1: They already featured him in Strange New Worlds ones.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Yeah, well in an alternate showed.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Him as a little kid, right, okay.
- 53:22Speaker 2: So okay, let's see chats pop up, So let's see.
- 53:25Speaker 2: Can you hear us?
- 53:26Speaker 1: Yeah? I can hear you?
- 53:27Speaker 3: Now that's weird.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Okay, that was weird.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Yeah maybe I had to pop up or something because
- 53:31Speaker 3: I'm using the phone.
- 53:32Speaker 2: So okay, that is totally weird. Stream Yard is weird
- 53:36Speaker 2: sometimes though, So.
- 53:38Speaker 3: Oh I hear everybody every podcast I over here, everybody
- 53:41Speaker 3: hates stream Yards. Yeah, pretty much the only one.
- 53:44Speaker 2: So it pretty much is. Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 53:51Speaker 3: Well, I had a roof for today, so I had
- 53:54Speaker 3: to he had to inspect my roof because my ceiling
- 53:58Speaker 3: fans leaking. Oh yeah, just installed a ceiling fan and
- 54:02Speaker 3: it's leaking water.
- 54:04Speaker 1: So wow, yeah, that's not supposed to happen.
- 54:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't know it was supposed to have a
- 54:11Speaker 3: water feature with it.
- 54:12Speaker 1: So right, you just want to shop?
- 54:19Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 54:22Speaker 2: Wow. So did you watch the spot Talk?
- 54:25Speaker 1: Uh?
- 54:26Speaker 3: Several years ago. I watched it, and you know, it
- 54:29Speaker 3: was a great you know documentary. Yeah, and you know,
- 54:33Speaker 3: just to think if you had to grow up to
- 54:35Speaker 3: be uh, I don't know a child, you know, of
- 54:40Speaker 3: an actor, a famous actor would be hard, Yeah, because
- 54:45Speaker 3: you see so many of them. They have issues, like
- 54:48Speaker 3: a ton of issues, and you know, recently, you know
- 54:53Speaker 3: they're either doing drugs or doing other stuff.
- 54:55Speaker 2: You know, they're I feel like that's not as prevalent as.
- 54:59Speaker 1: It used to be.
- 55:00Speaker 3: I don't know, I think it's I mean, I think
- 55:03Speaker 3: there's like a Rob Reiner's kid, so.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think it's like anything, right, you can
- 55:10Speaker 2: found outliers. But with the amount of like the amount
- 55:14Speaker 2: of shows that are out there, the amount of shows
- 55:15Speaker 2: with kids out there, I think percentage wise it's less
- 55:19Speaker 2: and less Like Disney has so many shows with kids, right,
- 55:24Speaker 2: and you really don't hear a lot about a lot
- 55:27Speaker 2: of those kids having problems. Yes, there's a few, but
- 55:32Speaker 2: it's really minimal compared to what it used to be. Yeah,
- 55:36Speaker 2: So I don't I don't know.
- 55:38Speaker 3: But I don't know if they're just pumping with drugs
- 55:41Speaker 3: in the eighties or what.
- 55:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, or just the pressures on them
- 55:46Speaker 2: they didn't like take into consideration on the kids. I
- 55:49Speaker 2: don't know.
- 55:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I know it's sad what you're saying, but you know. Yeah,
- 55:54Speaker 3: but name way, he was a lawyer.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Right yeah, Adam Nimway. Yeah, yeah, so I became an attorney.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:03Speaker 3: I just think how hard that is is to become
- 56:04Speaker 3: an attorney. So, I mean, yeah, pretty big.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:09Speaker 3: And then he married Terry Ferrell, which is pretty badass.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Right right, But of course.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I was thinking about that because I met Terry Ferrell.
- 56:19Speaker 1: I'm wondering because they got divorced in twenty twenty two.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Mm hmm I met I'm I met Terry Ferrell maybe
- 56:26Speaker 1: two years later, Okay, So yeah, just it just made
- 56:32Speaker 1: reminded me that that I had met Adam Ney Mooyes
- 56:35Speaker 1: ex wife.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go, there you go. So if.
- 56:42Speaker 3: Vulcan and a trill got together, like a trill vulcan,
- 56:48Speaker 3: that'd be a pretty interesting mixture right there.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder had that of life experience.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Yeah, well, and the Trill would have so many emotions,
- 57:00Speaker 2: right because of so many lifetimes. Yes, and then how
- 57:03Speaker 2: would the vulcan handle that?
- 57:06Speaker 3: Yes, trying to impress those good question. That's a good combo.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Because, like I can understand, you can suppress your own
- 57:14Speaker 2: internal right emotions, but you're that's the emotions is another
- 57:19Speaker 2: creature within you.
- 57:22Speaker 1: That can He would be a great episode of Star
- 57:24Speaker 1: Trek where like spot like straight, it would be a
- 57:28Speaker 1: great episode of Stranger Worlds where they they find this
- 57:30Speaker 1: new species and you know, trill and I know they
- 57:34Speaker 1: kind of did this in the next generation, but they
- 57:37Speaker 1: have to find a compatible host for this, uh, for
- 57:40Speaker 1: a symbia and and and Spock is the only one
- 57:43Speaker 1: on the ship and he gets the slug and he
- 57:47Speaker 1: has to deal with all that stuff that you guys
- 57:49Speaker 1: were just talking about.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and you do like they just have to get here,
- 57:53Speaker 2: you know, from here to here, so it's only a
- 57:55Speaker 2: temporary thing.
- 57:56Speaker 1: So kind of cool. Yeah, And to watch Spock go
- 58:00Speaker 1: through the gambit of all these different personalities and have
- 58:03Speaker 1: to deal with all the emotions.
- 58:05Speaker 2: I feel like what I would do is though, is
- 58:08Speaker 2: like if you put the symbiud within him and the
- 58:10Speaker 2: emotions start taking over, I would make Spocks slowly become
- 58:14Speaker 2: a Romulin, like he starts seeing their point of view.
- 58:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and that way you could see what what
- 58:21Speaker 2: Spock's logic with the Romulin like cunning, what happens with that?
- 58:26Speaker 1: Yeah? And I just thought you could do a follow
- 58:29Speaker 1: up episode dealing with the trill that gets the symbion
- 58:36Speaker 1: that was in the Spock. Yeah, and how there's some
- 58:40Speaker 1: interesting side effects of having a vulcan host with all
- 58:45Speaker 1: the you know that kind of thing.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Well, if you if you did, if you did the
- 58:50Speaker 2: bit like Okay, So, so Spock is turning Romulin or
- 58:53Speaker 2: at least leaning that that way philosophically, and then he's
- 58:58Speaker 2: trying to do like, let's say, mutiny because now he
- 59:00Speaker 2: doesn't want to get over to the other place because
- 59:02Speaker 2: now he likes being the bad guy, right, and so yeah,
- 59:07Speaker 2: he's trying to do a mutiny. He's trying to take over.
- 59:09Speaker 2: They finally stop him, They finally you know, get them,
- 59:12Speaker 2: you know, they fix them, right, they take it out
- 59:15Speaker 2: of him. So then when the new host has that,
- 59:18Speaker 2: the new host is like dead on, like I want
- 59:21Speaker 2: to get revenge, I want that enterprise I want right,
- 59:25Speaker 2: like like the venomsymb it almost right.
- 59:28Speaker 3: So are you saying this is going to be an
- 59:30Speaker 3: evil trill?
- 59:31Speaker 2: Maybe the evil trill and it's because it got corrupted
- 59:34Speaker 2: by the Vulcan.
- 59:36Speaker 3: Because there was one, you know, jad Zy had the
- 59:38Speaker 3: one evil one.
- 59:40Speaker 2: Right right, yep, yeah, yeah, And then you could say
- 59:45Speaker 2: that it was you know, oh, typically when there's an
- 59:48Speaker 2: evil one, it kind of wears itself out after the
- 59:50Speaker 2: next life because you know it doesn't have the influence.
- 59:53Speaker 2: But you know, you could say because of the Vulcan mind,
- 59:56Speaker 2: it's so it imprinted so hard on the SIMI it
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: that it's forever corrupted, you know, something like that.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: These are Yeah, I'm loving the ideas.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Yeah, the ideas, but we won't get them.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: We won't get them. I have so many ideas coalescing
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: in my head right now about the ideas that we have.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: We need to do something for twenty twenty eight. We
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: need to go to a comic con. We need to
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: do a panel, a trek cast panel and and go
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: over some wouldn't.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: That be which would you go to do the con?
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: So we'd either have to do something. I mean, it
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: would have to coincide, right, It would be nice to
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: do it people whole distant, right, you know, New York
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: makes sense, Chicago makes sense, the West Coast makes sense
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: for Daniel. I'm sure we could talk about it and
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: see what what's sort of on the docket. And I mean,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: I think two years is enough time to sort of
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: plan and and save up and you know, for a
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: for a little weekend trip. And I was just I'll
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: just throw this out there.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: I've always wanted to go to Miami.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: Go to Miami. Okay, yeah, and go to Miami if
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: you want eye candy and good food.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: That's what I mean. Yeah, I want to dress this podcast.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: This podcast is all over the place. What a story
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I was gonna tell a couple of weeks ago is
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: my son was I forgot if he was getting his
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: haircut or he was. He was at some place and
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: the conversation between him and whoever he was the business
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: he was dealing with went to uh sci fi and
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: they said, yeah, I like Star Wars and I like
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Star Trek. And my son's like, oh you like Star Trek. Yeah,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: He's like, uh, do you do you listen to podcasts.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: He's like, oh, yeah, do you know trek Cast? Oh yeah,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: I listened to trek Cast. Oh my dad's Scott, no kidding.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, like six Degrees of Separation. My son ran
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: into a trek Cast fan. Yeah, crazy, Like how crazy
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: is that?
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: Well, you guys just got a new listener too, you
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: know yeah, I mean yeah, he went back all the
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: way to two thousand and eight.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: That's crazy. Yeah.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Right, he saw the transition of when you guys took over.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: So he's like, this show is pretty cool. And then
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: it's like, what happened?
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Yeah, what happened.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm hoping anybody listens now doesn't go back to
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: the archives, because you know, there was a time that
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I wasn't a co host and the show was good,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: and then I came on. You know, Daniel are pretty
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: much just kind of dragging me along. But and I
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: appreciate that.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, it's good, it's good. All right.
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: Now, Scott, you've actually you've done your research, so I
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: definitely tell you you've gotten really good.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: So yeah, well, thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like you take those pointers from Chad.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he goes down to the basement. He goes,
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: all right, tell me what to do now, right exactly?
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you just make a childless duld episodes of wrestling
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: Ball on the League.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure he he wants his bread and water.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: All right. Well we've been on for the hour.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, all right, Well, thanks everybody for being here

- 1:03:46Speaker 1: For me, figure it out.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: We'll figure there.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: There is the Supergirl movie, but oh yeah, I want
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: to go see it now.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: The reviews have not been kind, although I heard the
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Rotten Tomato audience score is right hovering right around, like
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: so okay, I mean I'm gonna go do it. I'm
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: gonna go watch it.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Just yeah, I wat Yeah.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: It's the same reason why I watched Star Sleet Academy.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: It's because I'm a huge Star Trek fan.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: So I'm just right, you know, man, it's sad that
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Masters of the Universe bombed, yeah, because that was actually
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: a fun movie.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: So yeah, it was.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: I liked it. I had a lot of fun. I
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: think it's gonna.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, when it's all there on video on demand.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: It's like once it goes to streaming, I think a
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: lot of people pick up and like, oh, we missed
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: that on a good movie.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: So yeah, okay, all right, Well thanks everybody for listening,
