- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey Lucas, I've been thinking about the park episodes we've done. Lucas: Oh, me too. We've covered swings, slides, climbing frames... but there's one spot we haven't touched. Luna: Let me guess — the sandbox? Lucas: Exactly! In Spanish, sandbox is "el arenero." Let's say it together: el arenero. Luna: El arenero. That's nice. Lucas: And what do you need for the sandbox? A bucket — "el cubo" — and a shovel — "la pala." Luna: El cubo and la pala. Got it. Lucas: Great. Now, if you want to make a sandcastle, you say "hacer un castillo de arena." Let's break it down: hacer — to make, un castillo — a castle, de arena — of sand. Luna: Hacer un castillo de arena. That's a mouthful, but I love it. Lucas: You'll get it with practice. So imagine you're at the park with a friend. You have a bucket and a shovel. You say, "Vamos a hacer un castillo de arena." Let's try that. Luna: Vamos a hacer un castillo de arena. Lucas: Perfect! "Vamos" means "let's go" or "we're going to." So you're inviting your friend to build a sandcastle together. Luna: And what if I need to ask for the bucket? Like, "Where is the bucket?" Lucas: Good question. That would be "¿Dónde está el cubo?" Dónde — where, está — is, el cubo — the bucket. Luna: ¿Dónde está el cubo? That sounds useful. Lucas: Absolutely. And if you find it, you can say "Aquí está la pala" — here is the shovel. Luna: Aquí está la pala. Nice. Lucas: Now, let's practice a little scene. You're at the sandbox with your friend. You have the bucket. What do you say? Luna: Umm... "Vamos a hacer un castillo de arena"? Lucas: Yes! And your friend says, "Sí, vamos!" Then you need the shovel, so you ask... Luna: ¿Dónde está la pala? Lucas: Exactly! And your friend says, "Aquí está." Here it is. Luna: That's a good little conversation. I can picture it. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with your Spanish, and you'd like to support the show so we can keep it ad-free, you can buy us a coffee. It's at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps us keep making episodes like this one. We really appreciate it. Lucas: So back to the sandbox. I'm going to make a sandcastle with the bucket and shovel. Luna: Voy a hacer un castillo de arena con el cubo y la pala. That's a lot of words, but I can do it. Lucas: You did it! 'Voy a' means 'I'm going to.' So you're saying 'I'm going to make a sandcastle with the bucket and shovel.' Luna: Nice. So I can use 'voy a' for other things too, right? Lucas: Yes, exactly. 'Voy a comer' — I'm going to eat. 'Voy a jugar' — I'm going to play. But let's stay focused on the sandbox for now. Luna: Okay, okay. So, 'Voy a hacer un castillo de arena.' I love how that sounds. Lucas: Me too. Now, let's do a quick review. I'll say the English, and you say the Spanish. Ready? Luna: Ready! Lucas: Sandbox. Luna: El arenero. Lucas: Bucket. Luna: El cubo. Lucas: Shovel. Luna: La pala. Lucas: To make a sandcastle. Luna: Hacer un castillo de arena. Lucas: Perfect! And one more: 'Let's make a sandcastle.' Luna: Vamos a hacer un castillo de arena. Lucas: You nailed it, Luna. That's all for today's episode. Practice these phrases, and next time you're at a park, you can impress your friends with your Spanish. Luna: Thanks, Lucas! And thanks to all our listeners. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn Spanish with Fexingo!
