- TB: Question out of nowhere Sydney, are you ready? Sydney: Yep, I'm ready. TB: What's one job you think you would be surprisingly good at, even though you have absolutely no experience or training doing it? Sydney: A zookeeper! TB: Ha ha ha. Sydney: I've always wanted to be a zookeeper. I have no, TB: Okay. Sydney: I'm so bad at science. I'm so bad at all that stuff, but I think I could just be the best. So. TB: Don't you kinda need some experience like as a vet or something? I mean, don't you have to Sydney: Yeah, probably. TB: learn to figure out what's wrong with these animals? Sydney: Most likely, but I could just be one of the vets that gives them some food and just like hangs out with them. TB: Okay, but just because you've watched We Bought a Zoo eighteen billion times, I don't know if that qualifies you to be a zookeeper. Sydney: I don't know, that's my pick. I think I would be good at it. TB: That's that's not that's not bad. I think one job I could do, I want to be a professional wrestling referee. What do you think? You think I could do it? Yeah. Yeah, I think I think I could I think I could pull that off. And then when Sydney: I could actually see you doing that, like wearing the shirt and everything. I think you could. You just like get down. TB: when there's the big ref bump spot and the ref goes flying and it has to lay there for two hours, sold. I would sell the hell out of that. Sydney: Yeah, I think you should apply. TB: are they taking applications? I don't know. Sydney: I don't know how you even apply for that. TB: As I was doing as I'm doing my daily job search, I never see WWE referee Sydney: Yeah. TB: come up in the in the search the search options. But hey, maybe I should take that into consideration. Let's start the show. All right. What is up, friends? We are back with another episode of the Three T's tables, tailgates, and top loaders. I'm your host, T B, here yet again with Sydney. How you doing this week? Sydney: I'm good. I'm ready for the weekend. It's only Tuesday. TB: What is going on in sunny Jacksonville, Florida? Sydney: We just wrapped up the championship game for waves. So that means the wave season has come and gone. So now we're looking ahead to hockey. It's just TB: So Sydney: another season. TB: So is this considered minor league women's basketball? Is that accurate or no? Sydney: Well, so we're trying to get affiliated with the WNBA, but we don't have TB: Okay. Sydney: enough teams yet. So we only have four teams and we're growing each year. But once we have enough teams, we want to have a team for every WNBA team. TB: Yeah, that that would be that would be awesome. So how did the first season go overall? What did you do you think it was a success? Sydney: Yeah, I would say it was a success. I wasn't really sure what to expect. I'm really not a basketball fan. It's TB: Yeah. Sydney: just not a sport that I really love or gravitate towards, but I was very pleasantly surprised. We have a lot of really good talent. I think out of the four teams we had four girls that got WNBA contracts, which is really cool. So just cool to see that, you know. We can develop players and have them set up and they can kind of go about their way. And actually the fans in Jacksonville are really, really psyched about it. So it's just cool to find a new fan base and passionate people in that regard. So it was a lot of fun. TB: No, that's awesome. And speaking of fans, I saw the photos from the championship game. Probably one of the largest, biggest fans of them all, Shaquille O'Neal was front and center, front row for this title game. Sydney: Yeah, yeah, he was there. It was really awesome to see in person. He was wearing these really crazy pants. They're like yellow and black. TB: But I saw, I saw. Sydney: But he's a cool guy. He's one of our, you know, big investors of the league. So was cool to see him there. And he said in an interview that the women are playing better than the men, which was pretty sick. So it was just cool to have him there and people were TB: That's yeah. Sydney: psyched about it. TB: No, that that that's really good. Glad to hear it was a success. Now, how much time do you have before hockey starts up? Sydney: We will start hockey on October 16th. So about a month and a half. TB: So just around the corner, a month and a half. Okay. All right. exciting times because football's just about to start. Thank goodness. it's time to talk some Buffalo Bills football. Are you ready? Bill's Mafia, I was at the stadium last Thursday for the third and final preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And your boy finally got there. He finally got to tour this this puppy and It was it was crazy. It's crazy, almost surreal experience. So what do you want to know? Because I'm I'm ready to talk about this. This thing, this thing is Sydney: Yeah. TB: crazy. Sydney: So I know you sent a few photos, which from what I saw, looked absolutely insane. Like TB: Yeah. Sydney: it looked like AI. Like the photo that you sent of the stadium being far away, it was like unreal, just so aesthetically pleasing. was just very, very cool to see. So I guess where do I want to start? How are the buffaloes? TB: Well, you want okay, we'll start with the bison, the bison statues. Everyone was worried about this prior to their arrival, shall we say. And Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: I didn't know physically where they were going to be located in re in regards to, you know, the the stadium. And they're they're a good bit away. not terribly far, but you have to walk a ways away from the stadium to get to these things. It's a very cool little area. fence surrounds kind of like two-thirds of it. And on the fence is all these plaques that they're gonna eventually completely fill in. But it's Buffalo Bills greats throughout history with their numbers and a picture and a story. And then in the center of this is none other than the three bison statues. Absolutely awesome. You know, the big daddy, the mama, and the baby. I mean, just amazing. There are so many people there trying to get photos of these things. everyone was worried that these things weren't gonna be big enough, but I got news for you. These things are absolutely ginormous. And what's even better is w we were there for the night game and when we were leaving, these things were lit up in blue. I I think they were tame compared to what we're gonna see once the season starts. I here's one thing I will say. I do think the Bills are holding a lot back. Until the start of the season. I don't think they want to show all their cards just yet. So I think some of the presentation stuff was a little toned down. And then once the season starts in in two weeks, I think we're gonna see all the bells and whistles come out. So yeah, the bison are awesome. They they got this right. Everyone was worried about it, but they absolutely succeeded. So great, great opening question. But one thing I didn't know when we got home, there's this pathway. Like a walking trail. Have you heard of this? Sydney: No. TB: There's a walking trail that almost has these stops along the way that as you walk by certain things, it triggers some sort of sound effect that has to do with Buffalo, either the Bills or the City or something. I'm not sure. It walks all the way around the stadium. It's at like a one point six mile loop that's almost like a historical Bills trail thing. I'm like, that would have been awesome. I would have loved to have done that. I didn't even know Sydney: Yeah. TB: about it until we got all the way home. But next time I'm gonna we'll we'll see. Maybe you don't wanna do that after you've been tailgating for a couple hours. Maybe it's something you take the family on an off day. But yeah, there's definitely Sydney: Yeah. TB: it's there's definitely some cool stuff there. Sydney: So one thing that I saw on a video on social media was that in on the concourse there is a giant foldable table like in the... Did you see that? Do you know what I'm talking about? TB: Yes, yes, we did. So when we finally got inside the stadium, we decided to walk the whole concourse. We didn't even go to our seats yet. We just wanted to tour and walk as much as we could. Cause we got there. I would say we got to the the parking area around 4 30. And by the time we got into the stadium, it was probably 5 15 ish. And they gave this was for a seven o'clock kickoff. So we got into through the gates. probably around 515, 530, and we just started walking. And first thing, the concourse is so much better, so much bigger, so much wider, so much more room to move. You were not on top of each other. You remember the games. It's like you're shoulder to shoulder with 500 other people and you can't, you can't even move. Here everything is spread out and you have to go like exploring. It's crazy. But yes, this broken table to your point, Representative of Bill's Mafia and Tailgates every Sunday and every home game, people breaking tables. And this is definitely a high point to go see. People were standing under it with their families and getting pictures and all kinds of things. It took us a whole loop to realize that had we just gone the other direction, it was I don't know, fifty yards from where our our section was. So, but instead we did Sydney: really? TB: we did the whole loop and found it at the very end. But yeah, definitely Sydney: Okay. TB: a cool, cool thing to see. There's also a section that looks like the Peace Bridge that goes over into Canada. so some really cool references. But yeah, I mean, I don't know how many questions you have, but we'll we'll we'll walk through this. But yeah, the the table spot, definitely cool. Sydney: Okay, so as for our seats itself, you know, we moved over, like a few rows, we moved like down a few rows or something. TB: Yeah. Yeah. So in the in old high mark, we were in roughly I think I want to say like row twenty-three, twenty-four. I I can never remember because we we we've moved a a couple times up and down, but we were right around like the five, five to ten yard line. Here we moved back to row twenty eight. So we moved higher up, a few rows back off the field and we're right on the ten yard line. But I gotta tell you. The seats are absolutely amazing. Like I love them. I love being a little higher because now you can see everything from the other end of the field. It's it's it's sick. It's just awesome. Like I gotta tell you, when we finally get to the seats, I'm just kind of taking it all in and looking around like a wide eyed school kid who, you know, on their first day of school, like this is insane. And then when the teams line up. And they're doing the Star Spangled Banner. it was a little emotional because you gotta understand something. When I was a kid for almost 30, 40 years, there was talk that we didn't know if this team was gonna be here long term. There was always talk of the team being sold and it was gonna be moved. And there was really never a long-term plan as far as building a new stadium. That only materialized within the last, you know, 10 years or so. So to be in there, to actually be in there after decades and decades of wondering and you know, worrying, to be in there, to to be in our seats and to see this place, it was surreal. And it was kind of it was kind of an emotional moment. I I'm I'm not gonna lie. So definitely awesome. But yeah, the seats, Mike was not. was not lying when he said that they were they were good seats. I I'm extremely happy with with our seats. Sydney: Yeah, that's awesome. So you don't think there's gonna be any visual issues with, you think they're better overall from the previous year. TB: personally, like on a like for our exact area and seats, absolutely they're they're they're fantastic. Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: They're fantastic. And I you know, look, we're there for the third preseason game. Honestly, outside of the the Mar Hamlin interception, I can't tell you a single thing that happened in this game because I was so distracted. I didn't really watch or absorb. any of the actual football content and I know that probably makes me a terrible Bills fan, but I was so in awe of my surroundings and of what was act like to be in this place after so long, I couldn't focus on the game. I don't know. Is that weird? Sydney: No, not at all. And I think it's almost overwhelming probably how many things there are to see. So I'm excited to get in there and I think I want to get there pretty early so that we can, you know, just take a look around and just take in everything. But what did TB: Yeah, I Sydney: you think of like the comfortability of the seats? I because I know that there are less seats in this building than there were in the last building. So TB: Right. Sydney: there should be more room overall. TB: Yeah, there's 10,000 less seats. you definitely have probably at least another inch and a half to two inches of legroom before the seat in front of you. So old high mark, you're sitting down and your knees are in the row in front of you. And I'm Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: a pretty big guy. I'm six, six, two. I had no issue sitting down. My knees were nowhere close to the the seat in front of me. Our cup holders are back. How awesome is that? They're not completely broken off. Hopefully these last for, you know, fifteen, twenty years. We shall see. but yeah, you I don't feel like I'm in the person's lap next to me. there was a gentleman to my left. He was a a good sized guy and I there was no problem whatsoever. So yeah, as far as the comfort, awesome. No problem at all. Easy to walk in and out of the rows, up and down. Everything was great. No problem. Sydney: So when we're in our snowsuits, we'll have no problems. TB: Yeah, I mean I think I think it's gonna be fine. I really, I really do. I think it's gonna be fine. Sydney: Yeah. TB: and then can I talk on the the the TV screens? This was the this was the big issue. Sydney: yeah, that's a good point. TB: Look, the screens are not an issue, people. If if you have a problem with these screens, you gotta get a life. I'm sorry. I'm gonna piss people off by saying that. There is nothing wrong with these screens. I'm while I'm looking at the screens, they are so crystal clear. Crystal clear. I mean, it it was it was awesome. But the size of the screens, I mean, so we're we're at the end zone that has the bigger screen. So if you look to your left, that's the closer screen. The thing, in my opinion, is plenty big enough. And then the one all the way to the other end, it's a lot wider. And it's a little more narrow or shorter. I don't know, however you want to say it. But even that, look, I I I'm not going to a game to watch the screens for three hours. I want to see what the replay looks like to make sure the refs get the calls and boo them if they don't. And and with the the clarity on these puppies, awesome. But real quick, I will talk about one of the negatives. And this was a glaring thing. I have I have two glaring negatives. The first is the sound system. The sound system was whack. It was not good. They need to get this fixed. Now obviously it's very difficult to test the sound system when the stadium is empty versus when it's filled with 61,000 people. Whatever they gotta do, they gotta get it right because it was very soft. It was very muffled. I know they spent a ton of money in this sound system. You gotta figure it out. And you and and maybe that's something that we don't really see fine tuned until a couple more games, a couple more weeks into the season. But that that was whack. That was just terrible. and then my second complaint where the hell are the bathrooms? It was like playing a game of hide and seek. So we find our seats, which was super easy, and the women's room. So lucky for you, lucky for Jamie, the women's room is literally right behind the stairs to where our section is. I mean, you you come out and you walk four feet and you're in the women's bathroom. The men's bathroom, I'm I had to ask somebody. I'm like, could you tell me where the men's bathroom is? They're hidden. So the thing about this stadium, which is very I don't wanna say weird. I don't wanna it it's just interesting. It's like playing a game of hide and seek. You're walking the concourses and you really have no idea where anything is because there's not a lot of good labeling. So you're you're walking, you're walking, and then all of a sudden there's like a cut and you can't really tell what's over there. So you go down and explore, and this is where this is, or this is where that is. this is where the chicken parm station is, and it's and it's back tucked back off the main concourse. So you're not, which is good and bad, right? Because you're not standing in the concourse creating a line, creating some sa some sort of congestion. So I I I understand why they did it. It's just, it's gonna take a while to get an idea of where everything is. yeah, it took me forever to figure out where the men's room was. And then when I finally found it, the door on the inside didn't open until 30 minutes before the kickoff. So the only way you could access that bathroom was from the other side of the restroom, which is on the opposite side of the ticket entrance. So had you not entered the stadium yet, you could have used that restroom. But if it was, longer than 30 minutes. If I'm inside, I had to find somewhere else to go. So it was very weird. And those are some of the things I'm like, this is this is a little crazy to me. So, and then we were looking for just a regular bar. Well, these are Sydney: Yeah. TB: tucked in different sections and kind of hidden. And it's if you want to just go exploring, you're you're gonna find some some things you're not gonna expect, but Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: which is kind of cool. We did walk up to the 400s. We took the escalators all the way up top. One thing that is awesome, once you get up there, there's if you're on the right side of the stadium, there's a section that you can look out of the stadium, and the view points all the way back to Buffalo. And they actually have one of those viewfinders there that you can look through and it zooms in, Sydney: Yeah. TB: which I thought is a really, a really cool feature. But people were up there taking pictures, looking back at the city. That was a really cool added. feature. I I did appreciate that. And then we walked into where the seating area starts in the 400s and we're we're able to look out over the stadium and it was just so impressive. So just really cool. Obviously there's so many things we we still didn't see and I'm excited to kind of uncover those as the season seasons go on because I'm sure we won't we won't even see everything everything this year. But that's kind of my Sydney: Yeah, for sure. TB: Kind of my take on it. But other than the bathrooms and the sound system, I had no complaints. Sydney: Is there anything that impressed you or stood out to you that you maybe didn't expect or you haven't seen on social media yet? TB: that's yeah, actually we left. when we left, I turned around because it was I honestly we left right at halftime because we were staying Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: a ways away and we had like a two over a two hour drive to get back to the hotel. So when we left it was dark and I turned around to look at the stadium and night games in this place. Are gonna be amazing because I sent I think I sent you the picture of the stadium at night. And if you hit the one side, it says High Mark Stadium and underneath it it has the Bill's logo. It doesn't have the logo on the other side. So you have to be on the side facing the old High Mark. And that looks so amazing. That's probably one of the my favorite pic pictures from the trip, the way that place looks. So yeah, I can't wait. And the the brightness inside, I don't know if you remember night games at the old place. There weren't many lights. It was literally in the corners, the tops of the corners. This place is gonna be lit up like a Christmas tree. And there's gonna be no doubt. It's gonna be so bright. It's gonna be awesome. I I I can't wait for that freaking opener. So yeah, I would say that just the way it looks at night, I wasn't prepared for it. Sydney: Yeah, I'm excited to even see it on TV. Because TB: Yeah. Sydney: I know obviously I'm not able to go until November, but just that alone, like I'm excited to see it. I'm excited to see them play in it. And hopefully they get the audio right for when I'm there in November for Mr. Brightside. So that's all I'm saying. But yeah, I'm TB: Yeah. Sydney: just so psyched. TB: Yeah, I I just think the presentation overall is gonna be so much more than what any anyone experienced for game one, game three of the preseason. I I think they're gonna pull out, roll out the right carpet and it's gonna be fantastic. So yeah. people need to stop complaining. That's all I gotta say. It was an awesome experience. Even though I was only there for a half, I Like I said, this was a reconnaissance mission. This was a fact-finding mission. This wasn't me going to watch a football game. This was this was me there to take in the this emotional experience. And that's exactly what it was. It was a very Sydney: Yeah. TB: emotional experience. I will say that once you do find the bar, the the drinks are a little pricey. But I tried Sydney: Right. TB: a a brand new drink. It's called a fourth and bourbon because I wanted the souvenir cup. Which I got and it cost me like thirty-five bucks. So yikes. But bourbon mixed with lemonade, who knew I would like that because I don't like lemonade, but I was like, let's go. And yeah, it was it was delicious. So highly recommend the f the fourth and bourbon Sydney: They gotta pay for that stadium somehow. So $30 beer or $30 drinks, I feel like that's to be expected. I feel like that's pretty standard actually. No matter if TB: Yeah. Sydney: you go to like a minor league game, you're paying like a bunch of money for a beer. So. TB: I I will say, I and I think Mike talked about this, the options are amazing. There's so many options. There's so many options if you are engaging in alcoholic beverages. I mean, if you're a beer drinker, you can literally find anything you want. They have so many beer options. It's crazy. So my hat's off. I think they did a fantastic job. our seats are blue, by the way. the first six. I wanna say six or seven seats in our row are all blue. Totally random. I have yet to figure out what the pattern is. I don't know if we'll ever figure it out, but hey, it's cool. I'm totally happy with it. It is weird looking straight up from the seat because he he brought this point up too. The the edge of the overhang is right, right over us. So yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting to see what happens when when the rain's dumping down. But but yeah, it it was a great time. Great time. Sydney: Yeah, I'm so excited to get in there and see it for myself, but I'm sure that was pretty cool to see. So I'm just excited for the season. I'm excited. TB: It was cool. I know. I am I am ready to go. Thank God. So we'll we'll move on. Thank goodness preseason is over. like I said, the they finished up against the Steelers. They won at the last second or right at the end of the game. So they finished undefeated. Not that it matters. They cut the roster down to fifty three. It is set for now. Anything, let let's just zoom the camera out. Did you take away anything from the preseason? At all. Okay. Anything any Sydney: I didn't watch a single game. Seriously. TB: about news or cuts or any I mean, what what is it that you wanna hit as far as like what we found out in the preseason, if anything? Sydney: Yeah, I mean, I looked at the cuts briefly and nothing really surprised me. I don't think like there was no one that was cut that I was like, my gosh, like why were they cut? I don't know. Like I guess if you're watching like injury updates that could be valuable to know going into the season. But other than that, I mean, it is what it is to me. Like if we lost all three of those games, I don't think I would be worried. I'm happy that we won. TB: Yeah. Sydney: Again, I don't think that it has a lot of, you know, it just is what it is. So, TB: Yeah. Sydney: you know, you could win all these games and these teams that you're playing against are playing their fourth stringers. Like you just never TB: Yeah. Sydney: know. So I'm just happy to see that no major injuries came of preseason. I think that's the number one thing that I, you know, I don't want to see injuries and just progress. But I mean, how much can you really tell from starters only playing a few plays a game. You just can't tell anything. TB: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, y you you cross your fingers, you hope you make it through. Obviously, there's teams that lost significant players just from a few plays, a few, you know, series, what have you, or training camp injuries, and you never want to see that. But I think we came Sydney: Yeah. TB: away relatively unfazed by the injury bug, thank goodness. there weren't really too many surprises to your point about the roster cuts. I think everyone was worried about the wide receiver room. Well, we kept DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Josh Palmer, and Skylar Bell. Those were our five. we kept an extra tight end. So Latu made the cut. Whether he's on the team in two weeks for the opener, we shall see. No fullback on the team this year. That that was a big talking point, but I'm like, whatever. Jackson, I could see Sydney: It's okay. TB: I could see Jackson Hawes doing the same exact job that the fullback used to do. And then the big thing is we didn't have a designated punt returner, kick returner. Well, we we fixed that today because or yesterday. I can't even remember what what freaking day of the week it is. Because we already signed two guys to the practice squad. We brought back Shaq Thompson, who had a great year for us linebacker last year. yeah, if I'm in his shoes. I don't want to go to training camp either. I will gladly sign on with the team after all that nonsense is over. And we just signed Greg Dortch. Did you hear this? So he is out of Arizona, the the Cardinals. he was a punt returner, kick returner, pretty, pretty good guy. he's actually very short. I think he's like five, four ish. And he's from Rochester. Yeah. He's he's a short dude, born and raised in Rochester. and he's he's gonna probably be our opening day kick returner. So yeah, I'm hey, let's go. If you're from Rochester, bring it on. So welcome Sydney: alright. TB: to the squad. Sydney: Yeah, yeah. mean, bring them all. Who cares? TB: But I I'm happy to see that that Shaq Thompson signed. I think there's some question marks at linebacker and I think he's a solid player. can we finally talk regular season? I I know next week. I I think what I want to do next week, 'cause that'll be the start of the season, we'll we'll do like our big prediction show and kind of go through the whole year and what we think's gonna happen and kind of do a whole look around the league and whatnot. But This week I thought, hey, let's just take a a look at who we think are the biggest threats to this team, whether you want to talk division, conference, league. So I sent you a task of coming up with your top five threats to the Buffalo Bills this year. Did you complete your assignment for the week? Sydney: Yes, I did. TB: All right. So how do you want to do this? You want to go from five to one and just go back and forth and we compare them and and discuss? Sydney: Five being the worst. TB: Yeah. Sydney: Okay, yeah, we can do that. TB: Well, worst or least, you know, of the five. Yeah, yeah, you know what I mean. So why don't you start? Sydney: Least threat, yeah, yeah, right. Yes. TB: Who's your number five threat to the Buffalo Bills this year? Sydney: So I think that you're not going to agree with me. I think a lot of people aren't going to agree with me. TB: that's I hope I hope we don't. Sydney: I put the Kansas City Chiefs at number five TB: Okay. Sydney: and I put more of an underdog team above them. I think that the Chiefs, obviously they dealt with Patrick Mahomes. He tore his ACL last year, which was unfortunate. So they did, because of that, take a step back. But the Chiefs have been our kryptonite, and I think that they are a team that no matter... they have a good roster or maybe a not so good roster, I think that we always need to be careful of them because I think that Patrick Mahomes is good. Whether we like him or not, he is always going to be a threat. So I put him at number five and I did my research. They are plus 1800 with a 5.3 % chance to win the Super Bowl. TB: Okay, so you have them at plus eighteen hundred. Sydney: Yes. TB: Okay, because I looked this morning and and and obviously different sites have different odds. So I would I pulled this from ESPN. They have the fifth best odds to win the Super Bowl. I have them at plus sixteen hundred. So only Sydney: Okay. TB: they only have four teams with better odds to win the Super Bowl than the Kansas City Chiefs. Look, I'm not saying I agree with it, but to your point, If you're ranking f five to one, you you nailed it because that's their fifth fifth team as far as odds to win the Super Bowl. I appreciate your pick. they're not on my list. I'm just gonna say that. Sydney: Okay. TB: So my number five, and I kind of went a little abstract with my my top five because you know me, I like to think outside the box. I I went number five, I got the Rams. I know they're not in the division. I know they're not even in the conference. The Rams are probably going to make the Super Bowl. So look, they play in LA this year. I think that's gonna be a nightmare of a game. they're not gonna win 17 games. And quite possibly if I if I had to pick a loss right now without going any further in the show. I would probably pick a loss to the Rams. I am they just signed probably one of the greatest pass rushers of all time, Aaron Donald. He came out of retirement and now he's joining in Miles Garrett. Are you kidding me? I don't want to see that. I'm in fear of JA's life, and that's a that's a I am going to lose sleep over that game. So and they have a high powered offense. led by a pretty darn good quarterback who just won the MVP. The Rams scare the crap out of me. And if you look at the Super Bowl odds, everybody agrees because they are plus 500 to win the Super Bowl, the number one team currently listed. So that's what I have at five. I know we will see them probably twice if the Bills go to the Super Bowl. So I think it's what week is a week six something? I don't know. I I should have had this pulled up, but I'll look it up while you tell me you're in number four. Sydney: I can't believe with everything that you just said that you put the number five, but we'll get to that in a little bit. TB: Okay, okay. Sydney: I think for this is my most underrated pick in the list. TB: Okay. Sydney: I don't think that a single person is going to agree with me on this, but I went a little. This is just honestly what I think and I think Jacksonville could be a really big threat this year, honestly. I don't think anyone's talking about them. They TB: Homer Sydney: were very good last year. They have a very good coach. If Trevor Lawrence has his head screwed on right, they're gonna be a very good team this year. No one is talking about them at all. TB: Do you think they should be talking about them? Sydney: Yes. TB: Because every time it comes down to it, T Law does what T Law does, and he turns Sydney: Okay. TB: the the the turtle's head goes back in the shell and Sydney: I guess we'll see, but that playoff game, was there to see it in person in Jacksonville. The first playoff game of the season, we played Buffalo or we played Jacksonville and that was a pretty damn good game. They were competitive. Absolutely. So. TB: Didn't the Bills kinda pull away with it? Sydney: towards the end in the last quarter, but the whole entire game up until that point was very close. I knew you're gonna TB: Okay. Sydney: have this reaction and I think a lot of other people also are gonna have that reaction, so that's fine. You can say what you want. TB: Here here's the thing. Trevor Lawrence, I've been hearing the Trevor Lawrence love. How long has this dude been in the league now? What year is this for him? Six, seven, Sydney: Maybe five. TB: five? It's just like he's awesome. He's awesome. He's awesome. He's awesome. And we hype him up, hype him up, hype him up. And then he's given a chance to shine, and he never shines. So it's like at some point, the boy has to stop crying, Wolf. We can't keep going back to the well with the T Law love. I I get it, but. Sydney: I don't know. I don't agree with that. TB: Hey, prove it. Prove me wrong, Trevor, prove me wrong. Sydney: I don't think Trevor Lawrence has talked about at all. don't see, I don't think he is nearly as good as, you know, a lot of other quarterbacks in the league. I don't even think he's top 10, but I think he has a very good team this year. Had a very good team last year. So all I'm saying is TB: Okay, I I hear you. Sydney: they're going to be competitive and I think they're going to win their division. So I think we TB: Fair enough. Sydney: could very well be in the lot in the same position we were in last year. Anyway, they're plus 3000. They're a huge underdog. Three 3.2 % chance. TB: Wow, I'm shocked it's that. I'm shocked it's that high. That's crazy. Sydney: Yeah. TB: Plus three thousand? Sydney: I mean, that just goes to show what I'm saying. I don't think a lot of people are thinking about them. I'm just saying. I do think that it can be a very competitive team and a team to watch out for, for sure. TB: All I know is they play the Patriots this year, and I hope Trevor Lawrence is the best quarterback on the planet for that game. So there you go. So okay. I Sydney: Just for see. TB: I see your number four. And real quick, I looked it up. The Bills play at the Rams, week five, October twelfth. It's at night. So this is this is the marquee matchup for that week. 815 Sydney: Yeah. TB: at SoFi. Get your popcorn ready. That game is gonna be insane. And I probably will Not get any sleep after it. So maybe I won't be at work the next day. But anyway, my number four, and this team is tied with Buffalo for the best Super Bowl odds coming in after the Rams. It's none other than the Baltimore Ravens. I think the best decision they made was switching coaches. And it we we could be telling a very similar story about the Bills. Who knows? Again, they're they're going to have to to show it, but I think. Jesse Minter coming in there and changing the mentality of the Ravens, changing the narrative a little bit. I know historically Lamar has not played that great against the Bills, and we've been able to contain him and shut him down for the most part. Derrick Henry is still extremely scary. no matter how old the guy is, he can still run you over like a tank. And one of the things that has always scared me is our run. run defense. So and I think they have some good, some good young weapons. I think Zay Flowers is on the up and up as far as he's going to keep getting better each and every year. And if Lamar could stay healthy, I know that's a big if, but if he could stay healthy and stay on the field, he's still one of the top, what do you want to say, five quarterbacks in the league? Sydney: Yeah, for sure. TB: So I definitely think that the Ravens are if they stay healthy, they are definitely one of the top five threats to the Bills this year. What do you think about that pick? Sydney: I don't have the Ravens on my list and I, was a team that I was debating putting on here, but to me they are such an iffy team and I think they are so reliant on whether Lamar is off or on, which is, you know, that's the case for a lot of teams and I just, they didn't impress me last year. They weren't great. They took a major step back. I don't know. I, I, they're just a big question mark for me. So I didn't put them on the list. TB: Well, historically, the Ravens have always been a defense first team and they got away from that and the defense has kind of slipped. And that's exactly why I think they brought Minter in to give this defense a new identity, to give them more of a fire. And look, in my opinion, they have one of the best, if not the best, safety in the league. And Kyle Hamilton. This dude is awesome. I love watching him play. I love the the the passion he plays with. He is their leader on that side of the ball. And I think that that defense is going to be redefined. And if they can, you know, slide into the top ten of overall team defense and Lamar stays healthy, I think that's a that's a tough team to beat. So who you got for number three? Sydney: I have the Patriots for number three. I'm not gonna really elaborate too much on that. I think that for the division, it's gonna be between us and them. We don't have to worry about the Jets or Miami. We don't really have to elaborate. I mean, we know they're good. I don't know how good they're going to be this year. Again, I do think that they're a question mark. Just because I think a lot of the success that they had last year was dependent on their schedule. They're gonna have a lot tougher of a schedule this year. So I think we're really gonna get a clearer picture of how good Drake may actually is. So I don't know, I didn't put them towards the top. I put them right there in the middle. I think that them being in our division, it could go either way. That's just how it is. So even if they do take a step back, those games are still gonna be tough. So. TB: Yeah. Yeah. So last week we did a segment where I had you tell me how I did at the card show and I showed you a bunch of cards. And that segment was called Good Pick or Nah. Well, I'm gonna bring that back for your Patriot selection and say, nah, get out of here with that nonsense. I don't wanna hear it. I'm not scared of the Patriots. I don't even have them on my list. They're not in my top five. They're not in my top 10. They're not in my top 15. They're not in my top 30. Get the hell out of here with your nonsense. I don't want to hear about the stupid Patriots. I think the hype was completely overblown. Okay, Drake May, he's amazing. Everyone said he's the best quarterback that ever lived. After what? I think inflated, super easy, ridiculous schedule. And then he showed his true colors in the playoffs and played like absolute garbage when it mattered the most. So I'm expecting that. Drake May to to come out. Maybe he's Trevor Lawrence two point We shall see. I hope so. that that's what I hope for the next twenty twenty years of of Drake May. Maybe he doesn't play that long 'cause that that'd be crazy. But yeah. I think their coach is a total clown. I hate them with with every ounce of my being. so yeah, that's that's how I feel about Your Patriots pick. No, I in honesty, Sydney: Fair enough. TB: in honesty, I I understand where you're coming from. I just don't have them on my list. I and you're probably gonna laugh at me on this one, but for my third third pick, the Cincinnati Bengals plus 1800 to win the Super Bowl, which brings them right around 10, the 10th best odds. Look, their defense was atrocious. They spent the entire offseason revamping the defense. They spent money on the defense and they have the two of the best what top ten wide receivers in the league and a top five quarterback in the league. If Joe Burrow stays on the field, this offense has never had a problem scoring points. I I don't want to see the Bengals in the playoffs. let me ask you a question. the game is on the line to go to the Super Bowl against Matt Stafford and the Rams. Do you want to play the Bengals or the Patriots? Sydney: I wanna play the Patriots for sure. TB: Exactly. I would be much more afraid to pay to play Joe Burrow than Drake May any day of the week. So that's kind of the way Sydney: Right. TB: the way I looked at it. Sydney: Well, and that's why I have the Bengals at number two. TB: let's go, okay, okay. Sydney: So from what I looked at, it had the Bengals at plus 2000 with a 4.8 TB: Okay, yeah, relatively close. Sydney: % chance. But I agree with everything you say. mean, T Higgins, amazing. Jamar Chase, amazing. Joe Burrow is Joe Burrow. I mean, TB: Yep. Sydney: what else can you say? I think it really depends on Joe Burrow's healthiness and their defense. Their defense, like you mentioned, was literally awful, which is why Joe Burrow got injured. So he looks and seems to be like he's doing fine. Hopefully his turf toe does not get re-agorated. Well, actually, let me not say that, but I don't know. I think they're very scary. I mean... Their offense is just insane. So do I want to see them? No, absolutely not. TB: so Bengals come in at number two for you. So this is where our things get a little abstract for me. I didn't actually pick a team for number two. I picked the schedule as one of the top five threats to the Buffalo Bills this year. I mean, come on, let's just listen to this. And we talked about this a couple weeks ago. At Houston, opener against Detroit. the Chargers come to town with, you know. Mr. Capri and a new ram a revamped offen offense led by Herbert, then the Patriots, then at the Rams. We finally catch a break with the Raiders, but then we play the Ravens, the Vikings. We catch a break with with back to back against the Jets and Dolphins, but then Kansas City Patriots, Packers, Bears, Broncos. Are you kidding me? I don't know. I don't know. It's going to be tough to find 13 wins and 14 wins. Are we are we hoping every year we hope for the number one seed? Is that even something we should be discussing? Because if some of these teams are as good as advertised, it's going to be a heck of a challenging year for the Bills. And that's with the second toughest schedule. The Patriots lucked out again. If you compare the Patriots schedule this year to the Bills schedule, the Bills have the tougher schedule. And they were the two seed. So more Patriot luck falls on them. Congratulations. Just makes me sick. But anyway, that's who I have. What do you think of that one? Is that is that crazy? Am I am I crazy? Sydney: I'm just sitting here wondering who your number one is. I don't know. I think I had a guess, but I'm not really sure. I'm, TB: Okay, all right. Sydney: I don't know. I was so shocked. Okay. Well, my number one is the Rams. And I'm TB: Okay. All right. Sydney: really shocked that you put them at five because they have the best team in the entire league on paper. and they're very scary. I think Stafford is very good and he has a lot of wisdom because he's a little older. TB: Yeah. Yeah. Sydney: But something that me and Mike were talking about last night is they do have the best team on paper, but the good thing about the NFL is that it doesn't always work that way. And there are always things that will happen that you don't expect. And that's exactly why I put the Jaguars on this list. There's always going to be at least one team that you don't see coming that is going to be great. For example, last season, I don't know if anyone thought that the Colts were going to be as good as they were. And I think we're going to see something similar this year. I think the Jaguars could be one of those teams. I could, I think it could be the Cowboys, the Bucks, the Lions. I mean, there's so many possibilities. There's so TB: Yeah. Sydney: many good teams, but there's always those middle tier teams like the Bucks, the Cowboys, the Panthers. I think they're one of those teams could really emerge into a team that no one really saw coming. So yes, the Rams do have the most insane team on paper, but that's not TB: Yeah. Sydney: how it works 100 % of the time. So I don't know, we'll see. I think that's what makes the NFL so interesting is that you're gonna be surprised at multiple points throughout the season. So I think they're gonna be good, that doesn't mean everything. TB: No, I I I understand why you put at number one. And I think the reason I put at five was because the only time we will play them that absolutely matters would be the Super Bowl. Cause you know the weight of a non conference game doesn't really mean as much as going against the powerhouses in the AFC. So yes, we play them week five, but the only other time we would play them then would be the Super Bowl. so I want to give them their due, give them their respect, but that's when That's why I had them at number five. But my number one, so take a guess. Who who do you what do you think I have at number one? Sydney: the chargers. TB: The Chargers. You think I'm all in on McDaniel and his capri pants? Sydney: I don't know, that's the only guess. Either that or the Broncos, I don't know. TB: I don't have either. I have the Buffalo Bills themselves are the top five threat to the Buffalo Sydney: Ugh, so is a trick question. TB: Bills. Look, look, enough is enough. We can't we can't keep doing this. I don't want to hear no more excuses. We we've the it it's time. It is time to go. I don't want to hear nothing. The the offense needs to come out firing. every year we seem to lose back to back dumb games. We can't do that anymore. There's no margin for error in this schedule. The schedule came in as the top four threat. We control our own destiny, right? I don't want to barely squeak in. I don't want to have to win the last six games of the season like we had to do before. I don't want any of that. Come out firing. Come out four and two at least in your first six games before you get a little bit of a a break, a little bit of a breather. And then go win the games you're supposed to win. I think we're favored in pretty much all but like one game this season. You kind of gotta control your own destiny, but you gotta go attack it. Go attack the season. I don't want to hear no more excuses, no dumb losses. Don't and then, like I I said last week, if there's a trade that needs to be made, go make the trade. Put yourself in the position to help yourself out. We need we need that one seed. I I know that the task is probably more difficult than ever this year, but Enough is enough. Let's go. Let's open the stadium with by by taking this thing to the house. Am I crazy? Sydney: Yeah, you can't, we can't keep using these excuses. I mean, it's gonna be tough regardless. It's gonna be tough every year. Their teams are just gonna get better and better. Talent is gonna keep getting better. That's just how it is. So yeah, I agree. TB: Offensively, we have no excuse. We have the best player on the planet. We have one of the best running backs on the planet. We have probably the best offensive line in the game as far as running running is concerned. We just brought in DJ Moore. When he's on the field, we've talked about this so many times. Dalton Kincaid is a game changer. If all those things can actually work in cohesion, this offense should be unstoppable. I don't want to hear any more excuses. Like it's time to go. Sydney: Yeah, you said it perfectly. mean, it just is what it is. Put up or shut up at this point. I'm like, well, let's just go frickin' win it. TB: Exactly. And they're like I said, they're tied for second with the Ravens coming in at plus a thousand as far as Super Bowl odds. So yeah, they're they're right behind the Rams. So anyway, I thought that would be a fun segment. You got anything else to talk about as far as the top five threats? Sydney: Nah, I don't care about them. Let's just go win like I said. TB: So let's roll the Super Bowl odds into another topic I kind of wanted to bring up we haven't really mentioned before, sports betting. What are your thoughts, first of all, before we dive into this topic, what are your thoughts on sports betting overall? Sydney: I mean, it's so broad. So it's tough. I've sports bet before. I think it can be fun. I personally TB: Mm. Sydney: am not a person that likes to just throw away my money because I don't know. Like I like to put money on a bet that's gonna win me a lot of money and usually those are the ones that don't hit. So that's TB: Yeah. Sydney: just, that's just my thing about it. But Mike, he loves it and TB: Okay. Sydney: he finds it to make sports more interesting. And he uses it to get into sports that he maybe doesn't have as much interest in. For example, baseball. He's not a big baseball guy, but he's been putting together a lot of like home run bets. And it's TB: Okay. Sydney: just something that he like He likes the research in it and know looking up the stats and stuff like that So it's more of like a hobby thing for him and he doesn't you know throw any crazy amounts of money It's like five to ten dollars and he does a really good job at you know Not being crazy about it, but there are people that I think are a little excessive You know throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars on things That's where I think you know if you have the money more power to you, but like obviously the average person I I don't know that's great but I think if you go about it in the right way it TB: Yeah. Sydney: can be fun. I'll do it from time to time but more so it kind of just frustrates me but that's just my personality. TB: Do you think no, I understand. And I didn't even think about how it could potentially draw you into other sports that you might not be as aware of or as up to speed with that that's a good point. kind of kind of using it to to grab your attention and dive deeper into games that you might not necessarily know about. So I I appreciate that. But do you think it could ever make you a worse fan? Sydney: for sure and I don't think this applies to me personally because anytime I bet I always bet on other teams or I bet on Positive things to happen if I'm were to bet on the bills and I'm not betting on Josh Allen to have a bad game I'm not you know, I'm always betting on James Cook's gonna get a touchdown or whatever TB: Yeah. Sydney: and I don't think that I The way that I have done it has made me a worst fan But I can see how it would get to a point with other people that maybe it would cause them to be a worst fan TB: So you've never put yourself in a situation where you've had to root against the great Josh Allen to have a bad game because you simply wanted to win a bet. Sydney: No, I just, can't bring myself to do that. Like, I want my team to win. I don't really want to bet on them unless it's positive, like I said. TB: Does betting against your favorite team violate some sort of fan code, in your opinion? Sydney: I feel like it does a little bit. I don't TB: Yeah. Sydney: know. But in my opinion, if I'm a true fan of someone, I'm not going to want a bad thing to happen to my, I don't know. It's just, like I said, it's so broad that I don't know. It just really depends on your personality a lot of the time. But for me, I care more about getting a win at the end of the day than, you know, winning some money. But. TB: Yeah, I don't I don't think I could ever do it. I don't think I could ever bet against the Bills. I think that would cause me such anxiety and like torment. It's almost like you're creating bad karma for your fandom. And that's look, I we we've got enough bad karma. Like the last thing I Sydney: Yeah. TB: want is to add more to that pile. So I I could never do it. but do you think so you say you make You make bets on players to score touchdowns or do certain things. So those are called player props. Am I getting that right? Have you Sydney: Great. TB: have have these player props trained people? Not necessarily you, but have they trained people to care more about what individuals do versus the whole overall game and who actually wins? Sydney: Yeah, for sure. think that, especially when you're doing part ways, I think that that can definitely have an effect because you're picking most of the time, different players from different teams. I don't know. It's just a sticky situation. just. It's not really my thing. Maybe Mike is like a better person to talk about this with, but me personally, I'm not betting against any of our players. I'll do it all for other teams. Like I don't, I don't care. TB: Right. Sydney: But for our team personally, it's just not really my thing. TB: I mean, these are conversations, and it also kind of carries over into the fantasy realm that we talked about a couple of weeks ago. But these are conversations I hear at the actual game while it's being played. People get pissed if Josh throws it to a specific receiver or if somebody catches a touchdown. Like if Jackson Hawes catches a touchdown versus Dawson Knox or James Cook doesn't get the ball on the one yard line. People are actually mad. And meanwhile, everyone's, you know, supposed to be celebrating a tutty. And I was like, damn it, the blah blah blah didn't score. And I was like, dude, like, come on, man. I don't know. I Sydney: Yeah. TB: I understand fantasy's huge, especially fantasy football. I get it. People want to win their league and they have investments in the matchup and all that stuff. But especially being in the stadium, you're not, I'm not saying you're rooting against your team, but you are not happy when some sort of positive outcome happens. That That can be a little weird to me. I don't know. Sydney: Yeah, I think when you bring fantasy football into it, can be a little bit tricky because, you know, most likely if you don't have James Cook on your team, someone else is going to have James Cook on their team. And if you're going against someone who has James Cook and James Cook's having a really good game, it can, you know, it can hurt a little bit because that's, TB: Ha ha. Sydney: you know, that's just natural. But I mean, at the end of the day, fantasy is fantasy. I want my team to win the real game in real life. TB: Yeah. Sydney: But yeah, I can understand where people might get little bit frustrated, but at end of the day, it's a real life win. TB: Yeah, if if I'm playing against James Cook in a fantasy week and he goes for two hundred and three tutties and we destroy the Patriots, I'm s so glad I got smoked f in my fantasy league. And I will take that ten Sydney: Right. Exactly. TB: tim ten times out of ten. So can do you think do you Sydney: Yeah, it's tough. It is what it is. TB: think even like a small wager on a game can enhance or detract from the overall game experience. Sydney: I feel like it could, like I said, I think it has a lot to do with your mindset and how much you're actually invested. But for me personally, if I have a bet going on the game that I'm watching in person and if I have $100 on James Cook to score a touchdown and Ray Davis runs it in, then maybe that deters my experience. But. I'm not gonna put myself in that position just because I don't wanna feel that way. I wanna actually enjoy the game for what it is in real life. But like I said, I think it just depends on who you talk to. TB: Yeah, it's it's tough, especially when it comes to your own team and your own players that you're rooting for. Yeah, I don't know. I I often wonder Sydney: stuff. TB: when did actually watching the game stop being enough for people? We gotta add in all this extra crap. Nobody can just go Sydney: I think... Yeah. TB: and pay attention to the game. That's why they're flashing you know, fanDuel and DraftKing codes and and parlays and this and that. I mean, they're on these jumbotrons. They are they're showing the fantasy stats. So they're showing the betting side in in the presentation of a NFL game. And and look, I I'm not naive to the fact that the money is completely insane. the amount of money that is exchanging hands on a s regular Sunday afternoon, I can't even fathom. So I I'm Sydney: Yeah. TB: not Stupid. But like it's on every screen. The fantasy implications. The the dr the betting implications. When when did it when did actually watching the game become almost like ho hum, boring. Sydney: Yeah, I think it has to do with it's an adrenaline rush at the end of the day like I'm I mean I'm TB: Okay. Sydney: sure you've won a bet at the Before I've won a bet before I've won a huge bet probably three years ago and it was like a nine leg parlay that I literally TB: wow. Sydney: hit out of nowhere and it was just crazy like it really is just a crazy adrenaline rush and I can see why it is something that people chase because it does You know make things more interesting at the end of the day. But it is crazy how big it has gotten. And I guess TB: Yeah. Sydney: I didn't realize within the past few years, like how big, especially within the sports world, you can really bet on anything. You can bet on so many things. It's crazy. But even at my job, like I work for a minor league team and we had to sign a contract that we weren't allowed to bet on anything NHL related because it's affiliated. TB: wow. Sydney: So that's how crazy it is. Like even though you know we're a smaller team we're still affiliated with the NHL so I can't have anything to do with betting on the NHL. So TB: Okay. Sydney: it is just like it's cool in a way because I think it's really interesting but it is just crazy how much it's really just taken over. TB: I mean, you gave me a great idea for a a a new segment in the future. Parlay out of nowhere. We we Sydney: That's interesting. I like that. TB: we we pick like every week we pick, I don't know, six, eight teams and just create this massive parlay and hope we hit. Sydney: Yeah, I like it. TB: And that that's how we f we fund the the three T's podcast. Sydney: It's just a cool hobby. Like I think for a lot of people that don't put you know thousands into it it does you know make things more interesting and I don't know if especially for like we were watching tennis last time we're watching the US Open and Mike was betting on it because TB: Yeah. Sydney: it's tennis like you can literally bet on anything and it's crazy. So TB: Yeah, yeah. Sydney: I don't know. I think for some people it can mean something completely different but It is kind of cool. Like I'll throw a bet here and there, but it's just fun for me. TB: And I kinda wanted to take this topic into the other the other tease of the program, but before we do, do you think fantasy football is a form of gambling? Sydney: In a way, yes, but at the same time I don't because I mean, I think fantasy football is more of a fun thing at the end of the day. For some people, they take it, you know, super, super serious and have tons of money on it and you win a lot of if you win your league. for me, I don't look at it that way just because on my team personally, I'm picking good players, but I'm also picking players that I like. I'm trying to get all the Bills players I can, but that obviously is impossible. TB: Yeah. Sydney: So if I can't get a Bills player, does that mean I'm gambling on the Bills? I don't know. It just depends. TB: Are side note, are you ready for the draft Friday? Sydney: Yeah, I am. I also have a draft today at eight. So TB: eight o'clock? Sydney: yeah, but it's nothing crazy. It's just, I have like four leagues this year. So it's going to be a lot to TB: Holy cow. Well what pick do you have on Friday? Sydney: four. TB: Lucky lucky. Good for you. You got you got you gonna Sydney: pick four. TB: you gonna give the listeners a a tease of who you're going with in the first round? Sydney: I don't know. think it depends on who's there just because it's our family league and it's not like a normal league. You know, TB: Yeah. Sydney: in other leagues, it's probably going to be Gibbs, then Bijon, then Puka, or, you JSN. In our league, it's not going to go that way. And Josh Allen could go at number one. So, you know, Gibbs could still be there at number four. We don't know. So it's just TB: Yeah, yeah, he could. He could. Sydney: very unpredictable. So I'm going to keep my cards close to my chest and I'm not going to say that. TB: Well, fair enough. All these players will be long gone by the time T B gets on the clock, because I don't pick till Sydney: Yeah TB: eleven. I'll be half asleep at this point and I won't know anybody available at twelve. I will, but I'll be disappointed. But Sydney: Yeah, you'll get, you'll be fine. TB: we're gonna segue right into hobby talk because I kind of want to continue this conversation and and bring it into the world of card collecting. Do you think card collecting in a in certain aspects is gambling? Sydney: To me, no, but I know that there are people that are out there to make money. So in that aspect, I think it could be considered. It's just so difficult. In my opinion, I don't think so. TB: I think if you're a regular general collector, I think you're safe. But I think that the Sydney: Yeah. TB: addictive properties are there and the building blocks could quickly lead. And I've I've been guilty of this. You you buy a box and you just start tearing things open, hoping to hit that chase. And then next thing you know, you want to buy another box because you didn't hit something, and then you want to buy another box and another box. And it's I get the adrenaline. adrenaline rush. It's very similar to going to Vegas and and throwing money on roulette or on the craps. And it's just like, no, no, no, Sydney: Yeah, exactly. TB: no. I didn't win, but but I'm gonna win this, this hand, or I'm gonna win this roll, or I'm Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: gonna win this spin. I'm gonna, I'm gonna open this pack and it's gonna make I'm gonna make all my money back. So you can start spiral spiraling out of control so quickly. So I think that that is a very dangerous side to the Sydney: Yeah. TB: hobby. Hobby side of of card collecting. And it's something that I don't think people talk about enough, especially when it comes to some of these breakers and how you can buy into spots and you literally watch people who aren't even in the same room as you open packs for you and then hope that they send you the cards or whatever from hundreds and hundreds of dollars you're you're dropping down. It it's it's exactly gambling because you're just hoping something hits. And half the time you're not even getting anything in return. Have you heard of something called a digital repack? Sydney: No. TB: You were recently out in Vegas, right? This was a couple weeks ago. Did you happen Sydney: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TB: to ever see these big machines with televisions on them? And they probably said something like arena club or a courtyard or something. It was basically a huge vending machine. Have you have you seen any of these? Sydney: think so. TB: So what these are are they machines that host these digital repacks and what exactly that is. So a company basically assembles a pool of physical graded cards. So we've talked about graded cards before. You get a card, you send it to a company, they put it in a slab, and it gets a grade, like a nine, a 10, blah, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, these companies collect them and they put them in different categories, whether it's sports or football, and then the sports are broken up into football, baseball, basketball, etc. They'll take Pokemon cards and that'll be a category over here or whatever the case may be. So you go in. So say I go up to one of these booths or I do it online and now they have apps for all this stuff, which is even incredibly scary. And you go, okay, I want to roll the dice on the football. And you hit football, and then all these price tiers come up. You can buy in for as little as $25, $50, $100, up to like right? And it tells you what the potential pulls are for that price point and for that sport. So let's say a hundred dollar football card, the best thing you can pull is a Josh Allen, blah, blah, blah. It doesn't matter. Okay. and those are your chase cards. Now, if you hit that, obviously the chase cards, the value of that is going to be worth more than what your initial buy-in, that initial hundred dollars was. And so let's say. You you put your hundred in, you pick football, you you it they do this whole production. So it's this real flashy, like you know, snazzy thing. And then it reveals to you what card you got. Obviously, the card is not physically in your hand if you're on the computer or you're on an app, but if you're at the Vegas booth of physical live booth, you can actually get the card out of this vending machine. If you're on the app or the the website, What the company will instantly do is tell you what they're willing to buy that exact card back from you right then and there. So say that Josh Allen card has a value of 500 and you spent a hundred bucks to win it, right? You won the chase and it's like a 500. The company will then say, Well, we'll pay you right now 450 bucks for that card. It's usually a slightly lower percentage from what the current market value is. So I don't know whether it's 75-80% of the market value. So if we're using 500 and the the offer's probably going to be between around like 425, 450. And then right then and there, you could choose to sell it back to them, never having held the card in your hand, or keep it and put it in like your online vault, if you will. So you could create an account and you basically can store the card in this online location if at any point. You want to have the card sent to you. You just basically click it, click a button, and then the company will ship you the card and you can actually have the physical card. That's if you win the chase card. But a lot of times, the value of these cards isn't worth your initial hundred dollars or fifty dollars or whatever the case may be. So you put in 50, same scenario. I'm sorry, you put in 100, same scenario. You hit the button, snazzy production, and it's a card. Let's say it's a a Dawson Knox and this I'm I'm using this as an extreme example, but that card's only worth fifty bucks. And so then they give you an offer on the spot and they're like, Well, we'll pay you thirty five dollars for this card right now. And then you can sell it or keep it. Same deal. Can you see a problem with this? First of all, before I go on this tirade anymore. Sydney: Yeah, I mean, it's just like normal gambling, like just in a different form. And you're in Vegas, so there's degenerates everywhere who are willing to pay thousands of dollars for stuff like this. So, yeah, I can see how it's definitely a problem and someone's probably gonna get screwed. But yet again, it's Vegas, so I mean, I'm not shocked by this at all. TB: Well, I'm only giving you the Vegas example because that's where I've physically seen, or that's where I've seen the actual physical machines. Sydney: Yeah. TB: But these companies are mostly online and through the app. And I would actually prefer the Vegas style because there I can get the card physically in my hands, should I choose to keep it. If I pull out my phone and go to a company called like Arena Club, and I'm Sydney: Yeah. TB: dumping hundreds and hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. And I just see a digital version of the card. How is this not the same thing as the roulette wheel? Sydney: Yeah, it is the same thing, in my opinion. TB: And the problem is the buyback option is instant. And they're like, you have no time to even think about it. You're like, Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: this is what we'll buy it for you right now. You're like, buy it back? I don't even own the thing yet. It's literally not even in my possession. It's Sydney: Yeah. TB: it's flashing on my phone. Sydney: Right. TB: I don't know. I feel like we've reached dangerous territory. I'm not saying I will never try it, just to kind of see what the whole experience is like at a lower price point. But man, if I dump a hundred into this, it could quickly escalate because you're trying to chase your money. If if that first Sydney: Yeah. TB: one doesn't hit, or or worst case, sometimes if that first one does hit and then you're just chasing that. that that adrenaline rush over and over again, I don't know. That's it's crazy to me. At least when I go buy a box, a physical box, and I open them myself, physically opening them, if I don't hit anything, at least now I have a stack of cards. And most people aren't happy Sydney: Right. TB: with those cards, but if you're a real collector, hopefully you're buying stuff that you're gonna like anyway. And whether or not you hit one of those quote unquote bless you, quote unquote Sydney: Sorry. TB: chase cards is kind of not the point. But I don't know, it's Sydney: Great. TB: it's it's a little crazy to me. And I think some of these companies are feeding off of this gambling mentality because that's exactly what this stuff is. Sydney: Yeah, I think it's a huge area for companies to make a lot of money. And a lot of companies are profiting on that now. I think especially with the partnerships side of things getting so big. These companies just have so much money to spend and they're profiting so much. So. I think just being conscious with, you know, the things that you're spending your money on is just the bottom line. TB: Yeah. Sydney: Like, yeah, it's okay to have hobbies and do things like that, but you can kind of get screwed. But hey, if that's your thing, then that's your thing. Everybody has their own hobbies, so it just can get a TB: Yeah. Yeah. No. Sydney: little sticky. TB: You're right. And I'm not gonna get on my soapbox and say that we shouldn't ever be doing this, but it can easily some sometimes I think companies prey on people's weakness. And this you Sydney: Yeah. Yeah. TB: g you gotta be you gotta be real careful because it can get you you can be down that river with no paddle real, real quick. So Sydney: absolutely. I know. TB: let's hold off on the PSA discussion until maybe another time. 'Cause I know we're running long already and I kinda wanted to roll into the wrestling topic that we had. real quick, can you ever see a world where betting on wrestling would be allowed, knowing that as we talked about before, Sydney: No, TB: it's it's scripted. Sydney: no, absolutely not. Just because there's already been so many issues with insider information, people TB: Yeah. Sydney: betting on themselves, people paying their families or friends to bet on them for specific things. I just I don't foresee that ever becoming a reality. I hope it's not a reality because then I feel like we've definitely steered very, very far off the path. TB: Yeah. Sydney: But yeah, that's just my opinion. I don't think it'll ever become a thing. TB: Do you think gambling would make wrestling more fun or make it more of a complete chaotic mess? Sydney: I think a chaotic mess. TB: Really? Sydney: just don't want to see, like I don't want to see things that are being bet on that's already scripted. You know what I mean? TB: Yeah. Yeah. Sydney: I just think that that just gets way too messy. And you never know. TB: What I do think is fun. Yeah, well, yeah, yeah, you do. That's true. What I do think is fun Sydney: Yeah. TB: is for like the big shows, they put out odds strictly for entertainment purposes only. They put out odds. Sydney: How is that real though? TB: Well, it's just for fun. So it's talking points. And maybe we like when Sydney: Yeah. TB: we do big like previews for stuff, we c we can talk about what the odds are. Obviously, you can't bet on any of this stuff, but it's at least fun Sydney: Right. TB: to kind of to kind of see. But what I think would actually be really cool, and I would love for someone to implement this is to do a fantasy wrestling league. I I I think I Sydney: That would be fun. TB: think that would be cool. Now, obviously, you would have to spread it out over a much longer period of time, but let's say you go Sydney: Yeah, very. TB: a whole calendar year from like January to January 1st to December 31st, you get 10 people. random draft and here you Sydney: Thank TB: go. Here's your squad. And whatever happens during the next year, whoever Sydney: Yeah. TB: has the most points. You you get certain points for match wins and for title victories and things. I think that could be cool. Sydney: Just do it over like a year span, like 365 calendar year. TB: Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. 'Cause it's really hard to Sydney: See who's still invested by the end. TB: I don't know. Sydney: Because I feel like I do baseball and I just, by the end of it, I'm like, meh. I don't care anymore, you know? I don't know, maybe that's just me. TB: Yeah. Yeah, but the problem with wrestling the problem with a fantasy wrestling league is there's really no season. Sydney: That's the problem. Yeah, I don't know. TB: So you could you would actually have to start it, let's say you start it the day after WrestleMania and it runs all the way up to the Super Bowl and the last game the last thing of this of the league season, league year would be WrestleMania. That's the way you would do it. Sydney: Okay, that makes sense. I think honestly that's, that might be something I would do. Meh, I don't know. I'm TB: There you go, let's let's create it. Sydney: surprised that hasn't been created yet, honestly. TB: Maybe it has. I've just I've never I've never seen it, but I think I think somebody Sydney: Yeah. TB: should create it. But anyway, I wanted to talk to you about wrestling factions. First of all, do you know what I say? Do you know what I mean when I say wrestling factions? Sydney: Yeah, it's essentially like a group of people TB: Okay. Sydney: who have like a similar storyline in that wrestle together as a team. I have a list. TB: Can you think of any off the top of your head? You have a list. You can't prepare. Let's go. Sydney: Obviously, number one, we have the shield. I think that's TB: My favorite. Sydney: probably one of the most notorious. This one was popular a couple years ago. The New Day with TB: Yep. Sydney: Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Biggie Langston. TB: Right, right. Sydney: Then the Wyatt family. And that was a good one. And then TB: Okay, one of my personal faves. I love yeah. Sydney: a very, very notable faction. the three man band. TB: my gosh. The three Sydney: you TB: man band. Wow, that is a that's that's a poll right there. Blast from the past. Can you name the members of the three man band? Sydney: Yeah, Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, and General Hall. TB: So good. That's that is awesome. That's awesome. And who is your favorite? Who Sydney: I need to get a kick out of that. TB: is your favorite member of the three-man band? Sydney: use later. TB: absolutely. Don't forget, he's got kids if you remember his famous t-shirt. That's that's fantastic. So what do you Sydney: my god, so funny. TB: think a wrestling faction needs to be good, to be entertaining, to be lasting? What do you think they need? Sydney: I think that they need to have a strong theme and I think, TB: Okay. Sydney: you know, minus the three man band, I'll just take that one out, but the Wyatt family had such a strong theme, like they're creepy, you know, like it was just very creepy crawly, like very, you know what I mean, that kind of vibe. And then you have the shield. TB: I'm surprised you didn't mention your boys your boy evolution, Randy Orton with Triple H and Ric Flair and Batista. Are you wow? It's probably before your time, right? Was it before you watched? Yeah, obviously Sydney: No, I... Nah. That wasn't one that I was like super familiar with. Yeah. For sure. For sure. TB: there's like a long I mean, we could spend an hour talking about the f the the greatest factions in wrestling, but we're this is kind of Sydney: Yeah. TB: a quick a quick conversation, but didn't mean to cut you off. Go ahead. Sydney: No, that's okay. But yeah, like the shield, they all wore like the bulletproof vests and it was like the all black attire and they came out through the crowd and it was like very tough and mysterious and just TB: Right. Sydney: very, you know, strong. I mean, I don't really know how to describe their theme, but they had one. I don't know how you would describe that, but, and then going to the Kofi Kingston and Biggie and TB: Yeah. Sydney: Xavier Woods, it was very whimsical almost. I don't know. It was just very like positive TB: That's a great word. Yeah. Fun. It was fun. Sydney: and fun and very funky and just like different and TB: Yeah. Sydney: completely different from the others. So I think for them to have a good theme and The theme has to match the personalities of the people within the faction. I think that was 100 % 100 % true for the Wyatt family. They all had the look. They TB: Yeah. Sydney: all, you know, went along perfectly with the theme and then the shield. mean, they fit it perfectly as well. And then, you know, Kofi Kingston and Biggie, like they were just so fun. So fun to watch. They were great on the mic. They had funny jokes, you know, you're about to laugh when they come on the screen. So I think, TB: Yeah, they yeah, absolutely. Sydney: I mean, it all just has to fit. And we talked about this a few weeks ago, when it doesn't fit, it's not gonna work. TB: Right. Sydney: And when something works really well, it'll come to life. TB: And it's amazing that you mentioned just polar opposites as far as style and attitude and fun factor, if you will. There was nothing fun about the Wyatt factor, the Wyatt family, Sydney: No. TB: because they were like, I don't want to say demonic. I don't think that's the right word, but they were they were like spooky. They were the mysterious, they Sydney: No. Yeah, yeah, spooky. TB: w they were a Like Swamp Family essentially is what how they debuted, you know, and and it was just totally different. They were grungy and dirty and wore these weird masks. And then you compare them to the the the new day, and they were talking about the power of positivity. And when they first debuted, wow, I mean, they're that even that kind of changed as they came along. They when they first came Sydney: Yeah. TB: out, they were like a gospel singing group. It was very weird. Sydney: Yeah. TB: They would come out to a choir singing them to the ring. It was very strange. And that quickly evolved into, you know, the more colorful, flashy stuff with the unicorn horns and all kinds of weird stuff and the the booty O's cereal and all kinds of Sydney: Yeah. TB: kinds of things. Like so much fun. So much fun. Sydney: That's so funny. TB: Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt family weren't really doing really fun segments. Sydney: No. TB: But their promos and just ridiculous spo Sydney: So good. TB: spooky stuff. People were trying to like decipher what the hell he's talking about half the time. So yeah, to your point, they both can be good, but in completely separate worlds. So yeah, Sydney: Yeah, absolutely. TB: I love it. Do you think a faction needs to have specific personalities or styles, or can they be all different? what what do you think about that? Sydney: Yeah, I think that there always has to be a quote unquote leader. And TB: Right. Sydney: I think we saw that in the shield. Obviously, Roman was the leader of the of the shield. TB: You think so? Sydney: I think so for a little bit, at least for the majority of the time. TB: Okay. That would be debatable, I think. And Sydney: Hmm. TB: and we'll get to it in a second when I we talk about some of the other like positions in the faction. I think Roman was the powerhouse or the muscle. I think Seth Sydney: Okay. And yeah. TB: I think Seth was a leader. Sydney: I mean, maybe TB: It's debatable. Sydney: it's up for interpretation. TB: I yeah, definitely. Sydney: But I think there are always, regardless of who it is, think there always has to be, each person has to have a TB: Yes. Sydney: And they all have to be completely different to bring something to the team. And I think that when you don't have a clear lead, well, a lot of the time with these factions, they... they split up and they usually go against each other at some point. Maybe that's not always the case, but I don't know. It's just interesting because you kind of see that the power, they start to have like a power issue. TB: Always. Sydney: Yeah, it is just always so similar, but in different fonts, essentially. It's like. TB: Which is why it's great. And which is why you you want a good faction to be so successful at the beginning, because then you're trying to figure out, okay, who's gonna turn on who and what's how's this power dynamic gonna shift over the next weeks and months and years potentially? Sydney: Yeah, right. TB: So you have your leader, who else is a clearly defined character in a in a good faction? Can you think of any other category, if you will? Because I have four that I came up with. Sydney: Okay. TB: And obviously every faction, every faction doesn't have four. But I came up with four. Like in a perfect world, a faction should be, in my opinion, should be like four people. But I mean, obviously the shield, my favorite, didn't have a fourth. But I and and some of these you could kind of combine. But to your point, we'll go with number one has to be the leader. My number two, there has to be the muscle guy. So he doesn't have to be the best talker, but he's got to be the guy. That literally everyone you're facing has to has to get through to get to the leader. Does that make sense? Sydney: Yeah, I guess I was thinking someone who kind of takes like the grunt of the work. Like he's kind of like the bodyguard or like not, I guess, I don't know. Like someone who's kind of like, TB: Yeah, yeah. No, bodyguard's a good point. Sydney: he kind of like has to do whatever the leader says. TB: Okay. Okay. But he's usually the guy that's like everyone doesn't want to fight because he's the quote unquote strongest or toughest or whatever. But yeah, I like the Sydney: Yeah. Yeah. TB: bodyguard's a good way, a good way to put it. My other one Sydney: Yeah. TB: that I came up with, the future star. So maybe it's the young Randy Orton in in the in the group. Maybe it's the trying to think of another example. We'll get to it in a minute. what what do you think about that one? Sydney: The Drew McIntyre. TB: The the Drew McIntyre, the the the the up and comer. The guy no one thinks is gonna be worth anything anytime soon. But the guy that the Sydney: Yeah. TB: leader so the guy that the leader takes under his wing. Does that make sense? Sydney: Okay, yeah, for sure. Yeah, I see that. TB: Is that is that a valid categorization or no? Sydney: No, I agree. I think that that, yeah, for sure. That makes sense. Yeah. TB: And some of these are interchangeable, and sometimes you could combine them, combine them like two into one. But then I have one more category, and that's the wild card. And that's kind Sydney: Okay, yeah. TB: of the Dean Ambrose role. He's just, you don't know what he's gonna do. He's kind of the Sydney: Yeah. Yeah. Okay. TB: hot head. He could fly off the handle. He could side with the Sydney: Yeah. TB: with the bodyguard. He could side with the leader. You don't know. He, but he's like the loose cannon. I think I think every faction needs like a loose cannon. Sydney: Yeah, I definitely agree. Like the wild card, the villain. TB: Yeah. Sydney: I don't know why, but I'm thinking of the show Outer Banks because there's like a group of them. TB: Okay. Yeah, yeah. Sydney: Have you ever watched that show? So there's like a group of them TB: No. Sydney: and they literally each have their own role. That's just what I'm thinking of. I don't know. But yeah, that makes sense. TB: Okay. Is this come on before or after Dog with a blog? Sydney: this is recent. This is recent. Come on. TB: man, I don't know. That's kind of that's kind of the personalities or or or characters I came up with. If I was designing Sydney: Okay. TB: my perfect faction, that that's who I would want. How many do you think is too many? Sydney: I'd say anything over four is probably too many. TB: Yeah, it's and it's tough because I don't I know you don't watch a lot, but the bloodline, Roman Reigns, the bloodline, over Sydney: Yeah. TB: the last four years, my gosh, it's been this Samoan and that Samoan coming out of the woodwork, and it's the Usos and it's Tamatanga and Tala Langa and blah blah blah blah and this guy and that Sydney: You're like, who are they? TB: guy and solo Sokoa joins and Jacob Fatu and it's like okay, are we gonna have the entire Samoan tree on the show, it got completely out of hand. So I think it it can quickly spiral out of control. Sydney: Yeah, for sure. TB: how do you know when it's a good time to to to break up the faction? Sydney: I think when that emerging star kind of starts to show its head a little bit and you're like, okay, well maybe they weren't the leader before, but they can be pretty good on their own. And I think that when that kind of starts to come to life, like I think the shield kind of applies in every example here. Like each one of them specifically Roman Reigns, they just kind of emerged as their own person. And it's like, TB: Yeah. Sydney: okay, well, maybe this storyline doesn't make sense as much as it did before as a group, but instead the three of them individually can kind of grow into their own character. And like, like that didn't work for the three band band. They kind of just TB: Yeah. Sydney: disbanded after that. And that just was what it was. But I think for the most part, when you kind of see that star kind of like come to life is when you're like, okay, like maybe it's time to break them up. TB: No, the Shield is, I mean, they went on individually to be three of the biggest stars in wrestling in in the Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: whole profession professional wrestling. I mean, obviously Dean Ambrose left, became John Moxley at AEW, became one of their biggest stars and was their champion for the longest time. Still one of their top players. Roman Sydney: Yeah. TB: Reigns held the belt forever and and created Sydney: Yeah. TB: this ridiculous bloodline. And then Seth Rollins is just Seth Rollins. Like he is Sydney: Yeah. TB: Probably one of the my favorite of all time. But so so now the last task we have is building your best faction from scratch. Can you assemble one? Are you able to do this? Sydney: Yeah, so mine's kind of funny. TB: Okay. Sydney: So I'm putting kind of two groups together. TB: All right. Sydney: So I said, Randy Orton. TB: Okay. Sydney: Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins TB: Okay. Dang. Sydney: as the snipers. TB: Okay. Sydney: And their manager is Vicky Guerrero. TB: Excuse me man. Sydney: it's funny. TB: Who's gonna talk? They all can't talk. This show's gonna be man. Sydney: No one's gonna talk, it's gonna be Vicky. She's the voice. TB: Yeah, I know. Well she's a super annoying voice. All right. So who Sydney: you TB: who's what role in this faction that you assembled? Sydney: So this faction isn't gonna last very long because they're all just so... They're all just like so, you know, ego driven, I guess you could say. They all hate each other and they all want to be the leader of the group. So TB: They all hate hate each other already? Yeah. Sydney: this is not gonna last very long TB: Yeah. Sydney: and they'll probably end up just like beating each other up like each match. But it is what it is. They're the snipers. TB: I I mean, it would sell a lot of T shirts. That that's pretty good. Sydney: Yeah. TB: that that's pretty solid. So I assembled a four-member faction. And you gotta bear with me because for my leader, and I I assigned them one of the four roles we just talked about. My leader, I went with Cody Rhodes. Not because I like Cody Rhodes, but because of what's going to happen to Cody Rhodes as we tell this story. So Cody Rhodes is the leader and the current centerpiece who thinks the world revolves around him and everything's about him. so yeah, that's easy to see how we could get from point A to point B very quickly. B, my future star, I added Obafemi to this. We talked about him a couple of weeks ago. Sydney: Okay, I knew you were gonna do that. Yeah. TB: I think that's that's plug and play, right? Because the story Sydney: Yeah. TB: is already developing for him to kind of turn into I think your future star with any future star, the goal is to make them the eventual leader. Right, that should be what and and to you what you just talked about a few minutes ago, getting them ready to sink or swim on their own and getting them to to be able to shine once they're out from under the leader's wings. So I think that's why I picked Obafemi. For my muscle, Sydney: Mm-hmm. TB: don't laugh at me, but for the muscle of this group, I picked Rhea Ripley. Sydney: Really? Okay. TB: Yeah. I want Rhea Ripley to be the muscle of this group. She's not one that's just gonna stand in the back all silent because her influence in wrestling is on par with Cody right now. I think she's Sydney: Yeah. TB: just as popular as he is, and she's not gonna tolerate his nonsense. and she's just kind of sitting back waiting to just crush cats. And I think people will underestimate her and she'll just pounce. And then wildcard, I I stuck with. My example from earlier, I want to bring Dean Ambrose back and add him to this group and have him be like this Loki. If you go, if we're going with like the Avengers, have Sydney: Mmm, okay. TB: him be this low-key kind of chaos creator Sydney: Yeah. TB: and just constantly be bouncing between the other three members of the group and just causing complete random chaos. And I Sydney: Yeah. TB: I want to see this story evolve and Dean Ambrose is just going from person to person. Specifically Oba planting doubts in his mind and and having Cody constantly like looking over his shoulder, thinking like the group's gonna take him out. And then eventually it all leads to his downfall. And Oba becomes the new leader and they all just beat the hell out of Cody Rhodes. That's kind of where I don't know. We'll work on the details later, but that's that's that's what I came up with. But I love the snipers. Sydney: That's pretty solid. TB: I love the snipers led by Vicky Guerrero. That's a blast from the past. I love the three the the three man band. I almost said the three T's. I love the three man band reference. That was Sydney: Yes. TB: great. That was great. yeah, fantastic, fantastic talk on factions. You got you got anything else you want to hit? Sydney: No, I think that's all for that. TB: Man, that that was that was a lot of fun. So I like trying to come Sydney: Yeah. TB: up with totally random stuff and you took it to another level with the three man band. So well, well done. but yeah, we are Sydney: Thank you.
