  SPEAKER_04: Thank you very much.
• 0:55
  SPEAKER_04: We appreciate you.
• 0:56
SPEAKER_04: Um let's start, shall we, with uh our story of the week.
• 1:02
SPEAKER_04: Uh we get our stories from uh Automotive News.
• 1:06
SPEAKER_04: Once the crown jewel of German automaking, Porsche, has gone from profit powerhouse to crisis case in just two years.
• 1:16
SPEAKER_04: Porsche's warning on September 19th that its profits margin will reach 2% at most this year after the company upended its EV strategy at a cost of$2.1 billion, shows the depth of the automaker's troubles.
• 1:32
SPEAKER_04: As a manufacturer with an entirely European production base, Porsche is heavily exposed to global trade friction.
• 1:39
SPEAKER_04: Vehicles exported to the U.S.
• 1:41
SPEAKER_04: from its home base in Germany now face a 15% tariff, costing the company hundreds of millions of dollars this year alone.
• 1:48
SPEAKER_04: China, once a growth engine for Porsche, has become a drag.
• 1:53
SPEAKER_04: Luxury sales cratered amid the country's real estate crisis.
• 1:56
  SPEAKER_04: I didn't know they had one.
• 1:58
SPEAKER_04: Porsche's sales in China fell 21% during the third quarter, dragging down the brand's global shipments, which declined 5.7%.
• 2:07
SPEAKER_04: And Porsche's woes have been compounded by persistent supply chain issues, which all of the manufacturers are now dealing with.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_04: Slumping volumes and tighter bank lending have left many suppliers struggling to stay afloat, forcing Porsche to intervene financially in some cases.
• 2:23
SPEAKER_04: For example, Porsche had to take over battery supplier Varta to secure sells for its upcoming hybrid 9-11.
• 2:33
SPEAKER_04: Porsche's hard bet on electrification has failed.
• 2:37
SPEAKER_04: The brand aimed to make 80% of its sales fully electric by 2030.
• 2:42
SPEAKER_04: But the expected demand for electric cars is not materialized.
• 2:46
SPEAKER_04: Sports car buyers remain hesitant because of steep depreciation of EVs.
• 2:51
SPEAKER_04: A TyCAN, electric sedan, sees its worth tumble just after 12 months, while the iconic 911 keeps its value even after a decade.
• 3:03
SPEAKER_04: Porsche's decision to make its new Macon SUV electric only has misfired.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_04: The Macon Electric is struggling to gain traction.
• 3:11
SPEAKER_04: New combustion-powered Macon is being developed, but it could be 2028 before it comes into market.
• 3:18
SPEAKER_04: This is just bad news.
• 3:19
SPEAKER_04: An even bigger hole is forming with the 718, which is a mix between a Boxter and a Cayman.
• 3:25
SPEAKER_04: The combustion powered models will be discontinued this year, but battery electrics are unlikely to launch before 2027 because of battery supply issues.
• 3:35
SPEAKER_04: And the list just keeps on going.
• 4:07
SPEAKER_04: And uh with apparently the real estate market in China, which is the first I've heard of it, um that with the real estate market crashing in China, apparently uh there's not as much money spendable burning money.
• 4:21
SPEAKER_03: Cash that kind of money, yeah.
• 4:24
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 4:24
SPEAKER_04: Have you ever driven a Porsche?
• 4:26
  SPEAKER_04: No.
• 4:27
  SPEAKER_04: I wrote him one.
• 4:29
SPEAKER_04: Back when they came out with the cayenne, the big SUV, uh, it was in a press fleet, our press fleet, and I got a chance to drive it for a week.
• 4:39
SPEAKER_04: There's nothing else like it.
• 4:40
SPEAKER_04: It doesn't drive like anything, you can't compare it to anything, it doesn't compare to a BMW.
• 4:46
SPEAKER_04: This is above and beyond all of that.
• 4:49
SPEAKER_04: So I haven't had one since, but I can tell you, and based on our recalls that we have, you never hear of a Porsche being recalled.
• 5:00
  SPEAKER_02: That's true.
• 5:00
  SPEAKER_02: Every now and then.
• 5:01
SPEAKER_04: And every once in a while.
• 5:02
  SPEAKER_04: But it's rare.
• 5:03
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and it isn't it mainly the electric that the quality of the vehicles is number one and has been number one forever.
• 5:10
  SPEAKER_04: So there is that.
• 5:11
SPEAKER_04: Okay, got a couple of recalls to tell you about.
• 5:13
SPEAKER_04: This is you, this is you, Jeff.
• 5:15
SPEAKER_04: Continental Tire Americas is recalling certain continental terrain contact, cross contact, cross contact RX, conto seal, and general grabber HTS tires.
• 5:27
SPEAKER_04: Um, they've been produced using the wrong rubber compound, causing the tread to detach.
• 5:33
SPEAKER_04: A tire tread detachment can result in a tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
• 5:39
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's not good.
• 5:39
  SPEAKER_04: That's why it's important to register.
• 5:41
SPEAKER_04: Stellantis is recalling 62,900 vehicles due to an issue with the rear view camera image display.
• 5:47
SPEAKER_04: That this goes on and on.
• 5:48
SPEAKER_04: It's almost like an airbag, and it goes across all manufacturers.
• 5:51
SPEAKER_04: Uh Alpha Romeo, Julius, Stelvio, all of that.
• 5:55
SPEAKER_04: Um we cannot leave out Ford.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_04: No! Uh they're recalling some of its vehicles, um camera issue as well as a seatbelt issue in Ford Mustangs.
• 6:07
SPEAKER_04: Total Ford recalls this week 625,000.
• 6:11
SPEAKER_04: I don't have any more recalls because why?
• 6:14
SPEAKER_04: Because the government has shut down, and part of the shutdown is NHTSA.
• 6:18
  SPEAKER_04: NHTSA.
• 6:19
SPEAKER_04: And so they did not send me this week's recall.
• 6:23
SPEAKER_03: So that's good for Ford.
• 6:25
SPEAKER_03: It is good for Ford.
• 6:28
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's it.
• 6:29
SPEAKER_04: So the the goal is for you to go to safercar.gov, put in your VIN number, and it will tell you whether or not your car is being recalled.
• 6:38
SPEAKER_04: Just thought I'd throw that out there.
• 6:39
  SPEAKER_03: Oh.
• 6:41
  SPEAKER_04: All right.
• 6:41
SPEAKER_04: Um, let's do the sold cars roundup, shall we?
• 6:45
  SPEAKER_04: Okay.
• 6:45
SPEAKER_04: Give them a second to wind it up.
• 6:48
SPEAKER_04: Is that okay with you, Mars?
• 6:49
  SPEAKER_03: Yes, sir.
• 6:49
SPEAKER_03: I just gotta get out of here.
• 6:51
  SPEAKER_03: Here's your thing.
• 6:52
SPEAKER_04: Oh, I know, but I gotta get to the Well anyway, while they're fiddling with the car itself, you have your mind to a C1 Corvette.
• 7:02
SPEAKER_04: This particular one is a 1954, which is the first original model year, although some of them were built in 53.
• 7:10
SPEAKER_04: 1954 Chevrolet Corvette, convertible as they all were.
• 7:15
SPEAKER_04: White, classic white with the red interior, and it probably has that really ugly beige top, and uh, whatever.
• 7:22
SPEAKER_04: Uh guess what that car sold for?
• 7:24
SPEAKER_04: Now this looks like at least it looks like it's an original with the wide whites and the hubcaps and all that.
• 7:30
  SPEAKER_01: 225.
• 7:32
  SPEAKER_01: 225,000.
• 7:33
SPEAKER_04: Well, I didn't say that it was, you know, serial number 01.
• 7:36
SPEAKER_04: Well, even though you're gonna go you're gonna go for a quarter of a million.
• 7:39
  SPEAKER_02: I'm going quarter mil.
• 7:40
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 7:41
  SPEAKER_02: Mr.
• 7:41
SPEAKER_02: Margi, have you got a money to burn today?
• 7:44
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, uh, yeah, Mr.
• 7:45
  SPEAKER_03: Heitzman.
• 7:46
  SPEAKER_03: Yes.
• 7:46
SPEAKER_03: He's rolling in here at about 25,000, a little bit less than what Jeff was saying.
• 7:51
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, 250.
• 7:53
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 7:53
  SPEAKER_03: 250, 100,000.
• 7:54
  SPEAKER_02: 250.
• 7:55
SPEAKER_02: Is it it's 25,000, is what Jeff said.
• 7:59
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what Heitzman says.
• 8:00
SPEAKER_04: See, would you like to guess?
• 8:01
  SPEAKER_04: 65.
• 8:02
  SPEAKER_04: 65.
• 8:03
SPEAKER_04: How about 69,300 David Wall?
• 8:06
  SPEAKER_04: 69,330.
• 8:06
SPEAKER_04: I was gonna buy several of them, is what it was.
• 8:08
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, good luck on that.
• 8:10
  SPEAKER_04: That's what it was.
• 8:10
SPEAKER_04: There aren't that many the survivors.
• 8:12
SPEAKER_04: Um next up, uh 1988 Chevrolet Corvette.
• 8:19
SPEAKER_04: Now, this is the first model, a C5, C5.
• 8:27
  SPEAKER_04: No, C4.
• 8:28
  SPEAKER_04: No, no.
• 8:29
  SPEAKER_04: No, no, C3, no.
• 8:30
  SPEAKER_04: See this is a C4, 1988 Chevrolet Corvette.
• 8:34
SPEAKER_04: Um it looks clean, it looks stock, that's all I can tell you.
• 8:38
SPEAKER_04: What do you think that car sold for?
• 8:40
  SPEAKER_04: 17.
• 8:42
  unknown: 25.
• 8:43
  SPEAKER_04: David says 25.
• 8:46
  SPEAKER_04: Mr.
• 8:47
SPEAKER_04: Mars, uh, do we have any other?
• 8:48
  SPEAKER_04: Mr.
• 8:49
  SPEAKER_03: Eisman says$39,000.
• 8:50
SPEAKER_04: $39,000 for an 88 Chevrolet Corvette, red in in color.
• 8:55
SPEAKER_04: Jeff, did you want to?
• 8:57
  SPEAKER_04: 17.
• 8:57
  SPEAKER_04: 17?
• 8:58
  SPEAKER_04: 17.
• 8:58
  SPEAKER_04: It sold for$7,400.
• 9:00
  SPEAKER_03: Okay.
• 9:03
  SPEAKER_03: So here you're hanging on$7,400.
• 9:06
SPEAKER_04: You're you're you keep hanging with your Infinity and all that stuff.
• 9:09
SPEAKER_04: You did you need to get you a classic?
• 9:11
  SPEAKER_04: Like a Porsche.
• 9:12
  SPEAKER_04: Or a Corvette.
• 9:14
  SPEAKER_04: Whatever.
• 9:15
SPEAKER_04: Okay, this is for you, Jeffrey.
• 9:17
  SPEAKER_04: Uh oh.
• 9:18
  SPEAKER_04: A 1972 Chevy Nova.
• 9:20
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, baby.
• 9:20
  SPEAKER_04: I had a two-door, dark blue.
• 9:23
  SPEAKER_04: Um, it's not stock.
• 9:25
SPEAKER_04: Um, it doesn't have an emblem in the front of it, and it's got custom wheels on it.
• 9:30
SPEAKER_04: It is a uh it's not a convertible, so it would be$4,000,$4,000.
• 9:36
  SPEAKER_02: $4,000.
• 9:36
  SPEAKER_02: Four grand.
• 9:37
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 9:38
SPEAKER_02: You would you like to guess on that?
• 9:40
  unknown: $10,000.
• 9:41
  SPEAKER_04: $10,000.
• 9:42
SPEAKER_04: And you're gonna get it.
• 9:44
  SPEAKER_04: What did Mr.
• 9:45
  SPEAKER_04: Heitzman say?
• 9:46
  SPEAKER_03: Well, uh, I think he's stalling.
• 9:48
  SPEAKER_03: You stole$27,000.
• 9:50
  SPEAKER_03: $27,000.
• 9:51
  SPEAKER_04: The car sold for$40,950.
• 9:55
SPEAKER_04: It must be nice, yeah.
• 9:56
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, there it is.
• 9:57
  SPEAKER_01: When I sold mine, uh$1,500.
• 10:00
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.

  SPEAKER_04: Oh, well, 77.
• 10:04
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
• 10:04
SPEAKER_01: And you know what he did?

  SPEAKER_04: Did he really?
• 10:07
  SPEAKER_01: Two weeks later, yeah.
• 10:08
  SPEAKER_04: Oh no.

SPEAKER_04: Okay, this is for you, Mars.
• 10:12
  SPEAKER_04: Yeeha! A 1950 Plymouth Deluxe four-door sedan.
• 10:19
  SPEAKER_03: That's what I need.
• 10:21
SPEAKER_04: That's exactly what you need.
• 10:22
SPEAKER_04: We're gonna make that into the in-wheel time machine.
• 10:25
  SPEAKER_04: You know what?
• 10:25
SPEAKER_04: I'll bet it doesn't have an exhaust leak or broken uh exhaust exhaust thing like your truck does.
• 10:30
SPEAKER_03: Exhaust bolt manifold, exhaust manifold bolts.
• 10:33
SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, whatever it is.
• 10:34
SPEAKER_03: Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.
• 10:36
  SPEAKER_02: And I mean it's getting louder.

SPEAKER_04: This particular car sold for$8,500.
• 11:18
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, see.
• 11:20
SPEAKER_04: That's why you want to bring uh bring these cars up because you can afford to get into the Hot Rod Tour of Texas.
• 11:26
  SPEAKER_04: That'd be a great road cruise.
• 11:27
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, it would be.
• 11:30
  SPEAKER_04: It's probably got a three-speed on the tree.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_04: I'd have to take it to El Abody Shop and fix it up for him.
• 11:35
SPEAKER_04: He's not gonna deal with that.
• 11:36
SPEAKER_04: All right, next up is a 1996 Chevy Silverado.

SPEAKER_04: Now, I'm gonna tell you right up that this is a four by four, it's got what he says here is a four by four bed.
• 11:49
SPEAKER_04: We call it a step side.
• 11:52

• 11:59
SPEAKER_04: But that guy just gave you a hit.
• 12:01
  SPEAKER_04: A 1996 Chevy Silverado 1500.

SPEAKER_03: I think he's gonna be the closest.
• 12:18
  SPEAKER_04: I think he's you're right, because it sold for$26,250.
• 12:22
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a very popular body, right?

• 12:59
SPEAKER_03: You know, the later model Bronco.
• 13:00

• 13:24
SPEAKER_04: Speaking of which, how about a 1970 International Harvester Scout?
• 13:31
  SPEAKER_04: Silver.

SPEAKER_01: It started Thursday, and they had uh some of the lower end cars.
• 14:23
SPEAKER_01: There was a uh Maybach, uh 20-year-old Maybach that went for like eight grand.
• 14:29
SPEAKER_01: Well, it had 50,000 miles on it.
• 14:32
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly right.
• 14:33
SPEAKER_01: And uh some of the lower end stuff was going pretty pretty cheap.
• 14:35
  SPEAKER_04: Uh this is a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7.
• 14:39
SPEAKER_04: Now, an XR7 is the hopped up one, okay?
• 14:42
  SPEAKER_04: There it is.
• 14:43
  SPEAKER_04: White in color.
• 14:45
  SPEAKER_04: Okay.
• 14:46
SPEAKER_04: Um what do you think there, Jeffrey?
• 14:49
  SPEAKER_04: I'm thinking uh 27.
• 14:51
  SPEAKER_04: 27?
• 14:53
SPEAKER_04: And uh and one of our online guests, what do they what do they say?
• 14:59
  SPEAKER_03: Uh he's still thinking.
• 15:01
SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, I don't have time to wait.
• 15:04
  SPEAKER_04: 17.17 and 27.
• 15:06
  SPEAKER_04: 27.
• 15:07
  SPEAKER_03: Heitzman said 11,000.
• 15:08
  SPEAKER_04: 9,750.
• 15:10
  SPEAKER_04: There you go, Jeff.
• 15:11
SPEAKER_04: Heitzman, you can buy again.
• 15:12
SPEAKER_04: So that's our solar card.
• 15:14
  SPEAKER_04: He's delaying because he's Googling them.
• 15:16
  SPEAKER_04: Probably for you, Jeffrey.
• 15:18
  SPEAKER_04: Probably is.
• 15:19
  SPEAKER_04: Anyway.
• 15:20
SPEAKER_04: All right, uh, we're gonna take a quick break coming up, a review of the Toyota Forerunner, which is all new for this year, plus Jeff's motor minute, when the inwheel time car talk show continues right after this break.
• 15:45
  SPEAKER_04: Did you find it?
• 15:46
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I got it, I got it right.
• 15:49
SPEAKER_03: I lose my mouse and it's I we're gonna have to get it to something.
• 15:53
SPEAKER_03: No, but I can't see it on the screen.
• 15:57
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, where's the mouse?
• 15:58
  SPEAKER_03: There it is.
• 16:06
SPEAKER_04: I hope you're making notes of all of this stuff, Mr.
• 16:09
SPEAKER_04: Morris, so we don't have to go through this next time.
• 16:12
SPEAKER_04: Because there is going to be a Christmas version of tailpipes and tacos.
• 16:18
  SPEAKER_04: Are you okay?
• 16:22
SPEAKER_04: Tailpipes and tacos in December sometime.
• 16:28
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
• 16:29
SPEAKER_04: Either that or brighten it up.
• 16:31
SPEAKER_04: Have you thought about that?
• 16:35
SPEAKER_03: I don't know that that would do it because I've got such a strong reflection of me in the white shirt.
• 16:39
SPEAKER_03: Everything kind of blends in.
• 16:40
  SPEAKER_03: Okay.
• 16:42
  SPEAKER_03: 30 seconds.
• 16:44
SPEAKER_03: The only thing is we gotta make sure they know that we can't.
• 16:47
SPEAKER_03: I already told Chase we cannot do December the 6th.
• 16:51
SPEAKER_04: Well, you need to tell him again.
• 16:54
  SPEAKER_04: What's December the 6th?
• 16:55
  SPEAKER_03: Gulf Coast Auto Shield.
• 16:56
SPEAKER_03: And that's gonna be our last one unless he starts coming up with some money.
• 17:00
  SPEAKER_03: Okay.
• 17:11
SPEAKER_03: But it's getting pretty close to Christmas there.
• 17:20
SPEAKER_03: All right, and we're back.
• 17:22
SPEAKER_04: Hey, we invite you to join us for the live NWL Time Car Talk Show every Saturday, 10 to noon central on nwheeltime.com, YouTube, and Facebook.
• 17:30
  SPEAKER_04: Get one today.
• 17:31
  SPEAKER_04: It's free.
• 17:32
SPEAKER_04: And don't forget 30-minute podcasts of our shows from your favorite podcast store.
• 17:36
SPEAKER_04: Time now for this hour's car review.
• 17:38
  SPEAKER_04: I had a chance to drive the 2025 Toyota 4Runner.
• 17:42
SPEAKER_04: Final assembly location Taharan, Aichi, Japan.
• 17:47
  SPEAKER_04: All right.
• 17:48
  SPEAKER_04: Available trim levels.
• 17:50
SPEAKER_04: There are nine of them, including variants of the TRD, which has the most of them.
• 17:56
SPEAKER_04: SR5, Limited, Platinum, and Trail Hunter, which is a new trim level.
• 18:02
SPEAKER_04: Four-wheel drive limited is what I had.
• 18:05
SPEAKER_04: This is a standard SUV, in other words, body on frame.
• 18:08
SPEAKER_04: And we will gonna call this a mid-size SUV.
• 18:13
  SPEAKER_04: Seats 5.
• 18:14
SPEAKER_04: Now, it can come with a third row, which this one did.
• 18:18
  SPEAKER_04: I don't know why.
• 18:20
SPEAKER_04: They've squeezed it back there, but I guess somebody wants it.
• 18:23
SPEAKER_04: This is the sixth generation.
• 18:25
SPEAKER_04: Uh, but that third row, by the way, is gonna cost you$1,500 extra.
• 18:29
SPEAKER_04: Third generation, all new for 2025.
• 18:32
SPEAKER_04: The new skin on it still retains the forerunner look, but it's more muscular, a little more edgy than the older model.
• 18:41
SPEAKER_04: Three-part grille includes a skid plate down low in the version that I had.
• 18:47
SPEAKER_04: Bigger wheel options add a sophisticated street look to this.
• 18:51
SPEAKER_04: Modern taillights book in the large tailgate with a sunshade over the rear window.
• 18:57
SPEAKER_04: What I liked about it, the new look was 16 years in the making, and we hope that you enjoy it, and so do they.
• 19:03
  SPEAKER_04: What could use improvement?
• 19:05
SPEAKER_04: There are too many trim levels.
• 19:08
SPEAKER_04: I think that they need to whack some of those away.
• 19:11
SPEAKER_04: Uh, it's just too many.
• 19:12
SPEAKER_04: And I understand why they do it, because they bundle all of these things together and they come up with all the trim levels, but it's too confusing.
• 19:20
SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, is it worth it?
• 19:21
  SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
• 19:22
SPEAKER_04: Because the problem is when you have this particular trim level, then you say, but I want that.
• 19:27
  SPEAKER_04: Well, that's extra.
• 19:29
SPEAKER_04: Now, if you want, you can have that and that with a bunch of other stuff for the next trim level.
• 19:34
SPEAKER_04: And it just keeps on going and going and going.
• 19:36
  SPEAKER_04: That's just my opinion.
• 19:38
  SPEAKER_04: Interior highlights?
• 19:40
SPEAKER_04: Uh homework is needed for its multi-function four-wheel drive system.
• 19:45
  SPEAKER_04: I didn't try it.
• 19:46
SPEAKER_04: Uh, it has lots of adjustments.
• 19:49
SPEAKER_04: Listen, this is an off-road vehicle, and let's not forget that.
• 19:52
  SPEAKER_04: Who takes them off-road?
• 19:54
SPEAKER_04: No one that I know that owns one.
• 19:56
SPEAKER_04: My son-in-law owns one, and he's never been off-road with it.
• 20:00
SPEAKER_04: Phone charger is up underneath the dash in front of the console.
• 20:05
SPEAKER_04: I figured that this is a perfect place for it.
• 20:07
  SPEAKER_04: It's kind of a no-man's lad up there.
• 20:09
SPEAKER_04: You just kind of slide the thing up there.
• 20:10
SPEAKER_04: It's got an automatic charger, the whole nine yards.
• 20:13
  SPEAKER_04: It's perfect.
• 20:13
SPEAKER_04: Uh, upper trims get classy leather appointments, and I mean nice looking.
• 20:18
SPEAKER_04: Uh, optional huge infotainment screen that I had, it's a bump up from the standard one, and even the seven incher that I think that uh is on the standard uh forerunner, that uh it's plenty big, but if you want a great big one like a Tesla, well, you can get it.
• 20:36
  SPEAKER_04: Um easy operation, however.
• 20:39
SPEAKER_04: Uh cargo room, adequate without the third row up, needless to say.
• 20:43
SPEAKER_04: What I liked about it?
• 20:45
SPEAKER_04: The ruggedness, the ruggedness of the interior really stands out.
• 20:50
SPEAKER_04: So you're not gonna, it's not a sissy mobile.
• 20:53
SPEAKER_04: Okay, you're buying an off-rotor, it's gonna look like an off-rotor on the inside.
• 20:58
SPEAKER_04: Uh third row is a no-go for me.
• 21:01
  SPEAKER_04: Engine, no more V6, 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 278 horsepower, it's fine.
• 21:10
SPEAKER_04: 317 pound feet of torque, eight-speed automatic transmission, it'll tow three tons.
• 21:15
  SPEAKER_04: Wow.
• 21:16
SPEAKER_04: So you know it's got to be stout, right?
• 21:19
SPEAKER_04: Uh mileage ratings, 20 in the city, 24 in the highway, 21 for it combined.
• 21:25
  SPEAKER_04: I got 20 over 437 miles.
• 21:28
  SPEAKER_04: What I liked?
• 21:29
SPEAKER_04: The turbo four works well.
• 21:31
SPEAKER_04: And I'm not a huge fan, generally speaking, of turbocharged four cylinders, but this one does work well.
• 21:36
SPEAKER_04: Well, it's Toyota, what do you think?
• 21:38
  SPEAKER_04: Peppy.
• 21:38
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 21:39
  SPEAKER_04: Uh ride and handling.
• 21:40
SPEAKER_04: What I liked about it, it's a nice cross between on and off-road compliance.
• 21:45
SPEAKER_04: Uh, what could use improvement?
• 21:47
  SPEAKER_04: Optional air ride suspension.
• 21:48
SPEAKER_04: If you're going to get one of those high-end ones, hey, let's go all the way.
• 21:51
  SPEAKER_04: Right.
• 21:52
SPEAKER_04: Let's do it on air ride.
• 21:53
  SPEAKER_04: Base trim price,$57.4.
• 21:55
  SPEAKER_04: That's base trim price,$57.4.
• 21:58
SPEAKER_04: Price is tested$62,625, but you can get in one, the two-wheel drive model, no bells and whistles,$41,270.
• 22:07
SPEAKER_04: Competitors, the Jeep Wranglers, starts at$32,095.
• 22:11
SPEAKER_04: Fort Bronco,$38,995, which is probably its closest competitor.
• 22:17
SPEAKER_04: And the Chevy Tahoe, because GM does not have anything really that competes in this class.
• 22:23
  SPEAKER_04: Uh the Chevy Tahoe,$58.50.
• 22:27
SPEAKER_04: There is no midsize from GM.
• 22:29
SPEAKER_01: Then then they go up from there drastically.
• 22:31
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 22:32
SPEAKER_04: And that's my review of the 2025 all new from the ground up Toyota for Runner.
• 22:38
SPEAKER_04: And they're probably selling a Google amount of them.
• 22:41
  SPEAKER_04: I'm sure.
• 22:42
SPEAKER_04: Because once you get in one of those things, it's really hard to get out of because they're they're nice and, you know, but nobody takes a million mode that I know of anyway.
• 22:49
SPEAKER_04: Um, hey, just ahead, uh, we've got uh the motor minute, and we're also gonna have news headlines.
• 22:57
SPEAKER_04: It's all coming up here on the N-wheel time button.
• 22:59
SPEAKER_04: You've waited all summer, and it's finally here.
• 23:01
SPEAKER_04: The Tailpipes and Tacos Fall 25 Cruise In Car Show.

• 24:35
SPEAKER_04: And don't forget 30-minute podcasts of our shows from your favorite podcast provider.
• 24:39
SPEAKER_04: Time now for Jeff's Motor Minute.
• 24:41
  SPEAKER_01: There you go.
• 24:41
SPEAKER_01: NASCAR's urge to cancel his offensive new slogan.
• 24:44
  SPEAKER_01: What?
• 24:45
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 24:45
SPEAKER_01: Looking to alter its public image amidst the struggling with continuously failing TV viewership.
• 24:50
SPEAKER_01: NASCAR is set to embark on a rebrand for 2026.
• 24:54
SPEAKER_01: Having linked up with a new creative agency partner in what's called 72 and Sunny earlier this year, NASCAR pushed to define itself as a working class American brand.
• 25:04
SPEAKER_01: This intention is to help NASCAR uh bring back and be in touch with its roots amongst the ever faithful blue-collar French fan base that uh the organization is accustomed to.
• 25:15
SPEAKER_01: The hell yeah, tagline is the upcoming season as per the sports.
• 25:19
  SPEAKER_01: Are you serious?
• 25:20
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 25:21
SPEAKER_01: Unfortunately for NASCAR, before it's even had the opportunity to officially roll it out, it's already facing fierce backlash from a conservative group called One Million Moms, which is part of the American Family Association.
• 25:32
SPEAKER_01: In a scathing post which labeled the tagline offensive, uh NASCAR, a new brand spot called Hell Yeah, is the biggest oxymoron there is.
• 25:41
SPEAKER_01: There is nothing, yeah, about hell since it's a place for torment and anguish.
• 25:45
SPEAKER_01: So they're going up against it.
• 25:47
SPEAKER_01: NASCAR, you're you're not paying attention to your fan base.
• 25:50
SPEAKER_01: That is a marketing company.
• 25:52
SPEAKER_01: It's a marketing company for the company.
• 25:53
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 25:54
SPEAKER_04: Ask that marketing company how well they did uh with uh uh Cracker Barrel.
• 25:59
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well there's more of the it goes on and on.
• 26:01
SPEAKER_01: Uh so it's they're they're gonna introduce it next year, and good luck to them.
• 26:05
  SPEAKER_01: They're losing, they're losing me.
• 26:07
SPEAKER_01: They lost me in the world.
• 26:08
SPEAKER_01: They lost me a long time ago.
• 26:09
  SPEAKER_03: Because of that?
• 26:10
  SPEAKER_03: No.
• 26:10
  SPEAKER_03: No, okay, okay.
• 26:12
  SPEAKER_03: A lot of things.
• 26:13
SPEAKER_01: You gotta pay the TV, subscribe to watch a race that isn't really a race because they give everybody a trophy.
• 26:18
SPEAKER_04: And then they've got then they got these cocky young drivers up there that think they own the world.
• 26:22
SPEAKER_04: I could care less about it.
• 26:23
SPEAKER_01: They need to learn how to come back there and give them a whooping.
• 26:26
  SPEAKER_01: That's it.
• 26:26
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
• 26:27
SPEAKER_01: You heard that from me.
• 26:29
SPEAKER_04: Um this is too long.
• 26:32
SPEAKER_04: It's it's just bit basically a bashing of battery electric, which I've done enough of today.
• 26:37
SPEAKER_04: That's in the third hour.
• 26:39
SPEAKER_04: Fallout from a fire at an aluminum supplier in New York a month ago, is hitting Detroit, where Ford Motor Company and Stellanis and their suppliers face production disruptions.
• 26:47
SPEAKER_04: Warren Truck, truck, Warren Truck, where Stallanis builds the Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Wagoneer Grand Wagoneer, is being idled for three weeks because of a parts shortage.
• 26:57
SPEAKER_04: The shortage is emanating from the September 16th fire at the Novellus Aluminum Factory in Oswego, New York.
• 27:05
SPEAKER_04: Um Ford indicated to suppliers that it plans to build around 530 pickups per day in Dearborn until October 27th, down 55% from typical levels, according to an analysis of supplier releases, which Ford issues to dictate the flow of just-in-time parts to its assembly plants.
• 27:24
SPEAKER_04: Novellus, which counts Ford as its top customer, is not expected to reopen its hot mill plant until the first quarter of next year at the earliest.
• 27:34
SPEAKER_04: Uh staring down what analysts say could be a one billion dollar profit hit.
• 27:40
  SPEAKER_04: Wow.
• 27:40
SPEAKER_04: Ford is scrambling to source aluminum elsewhere to feed its pickup profit machine.
• 27:45
  SPEAKER_04: That's not good.
• 27:48
SPEAKER_04: All of these, all of these things that are happening at the end.
• 27:50
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because that's not a hit on their their resources.
• 27:54
SPEAKER_03: I mean, their income, that is profits what they're saying.
• 27:56
SPEAKER_04: Houston Automobile Dealers Association, its board of directors, proud to announce the promotion of Rochelle Salinas to president of the Houston Auto Show, one of the largest annual events at NRG Center.
