- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks Mike laying first two games out of the break,
- 0:03Speaker 1: I know, not the results that you wanted. Take us
- 0:06Speaker 1: back to those six periods in Dallas in Saint Louis
- 0:08Speaker 1: and just you your thoughts on the team's effort to performance.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't like it. You know, it's not even
- 0:14Speaker 2: so much the.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Results, as I've talked over the you know, maybe even
- 0:19Speaker 3: over the situation in December when we weren't doing very well.
- 0:23Speaker 3: I liked our game, we just weren't winning. But this
- 0:26Speaker 3: wasn't even close for me. You know, too many lost battles,
- 0:30Speaker 3: too many lost puck battles, not quick enough to close
- 0:33Speaker 3: in the d zone.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Everything from our hockey team stems off of.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Our D zone and our defensive play, and so when
- 0:39Speaker 3: we don't have that in check, then it's pretty hard
- 0:42Speaker 3: to create any offense.
- 0:44Speaker 1: It's hard to maybe blame that on the break because
- 0:46Speaker 1: Dallas and Saint Louis also had the long break, they
- 0:48Speaker 1: had the practice time as well. What can you attribute
- 0:51Speaker 1: those struggles to these first two games back.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Well, you know, I guess for me it you know, again,
- 1:00Speaker 3: like I said, it did it did have you know,
- 1:04Speaker 3: the other teams did have the same break as we did.
- 1:08Speaker 3: But if you're looking at it from just internally and
- 1:11Speaker 3: in our position, in our perspective, the break didn't do
- 1:14Speaker 3: us any favors. We were playing real well going into
- 1:17Speaker 3: the break and now we haven't played welcome around the break.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But you know that's just an excuse.
- 1:22Speaker 3: We've got to be better, and you know these last
- 1:24Speaker 3: two games are these last two games a little bit
- 1:26Speaker 3: of adversity for us, and hopefully we can learn from
- 1:29Speaker 3: it and move on.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And a big picture, Look, you're still fourth in the division,
- 1:32Speaker 1: you're still in a wildcard spot going into the game
- 1:35Speaker 1: here tonight. Can you relay that message to the team.
- 1:38Speaker 1: How do you use that to kind of say, hey,
- 1:40Speaker 1: we're okay, it's it's only two games. Is it only
- 1:42Speaker 1: two games? And we can start fresh here with a
- 1:45Speaker 1: six game homestand.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, you don't have any choice.
- 1:47Speaker 3: And you know, if it's it's funny, like you know,
- 1:51Speaker 3: the mind works in mysterious ways. You know, had we
- 1:55Speaker 3: won our last two games and been in the same
- 1:58Speaker 3: standings position as we are today, we'd be really excited
- 2:03Speaker 3: about that. So we're in the same position no matter what.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Let's get excited about tonight's game and the game's coming
- 2:13Speaker 3: up here in the next twenty four games, starting one game.
- 2:15Speaker 2: At a time.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Vince Dunn's got his six hundredth NHL game here tonight.
- 2:19Speaker 1: What have you liked about his game now that you've
- 2:21Speaker 1: gotten to coach him for you know, three quarters of
- 2:23Speaker 1: a season, and what type of player? What does he
- 2:26Speaker 1: bring to this roster that makes him so effective?
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I've liked a lot about his game that I
- 2:30Speaker 3: didn't really know. I didn't know a lot about his
- 2:32Speaker 3: game coming in here, poise with a pock skill. He's
- 2:37Speaker 3: done a really good job on the power play this
- 2:39Speaker 3: year for us, you know, and physical, physical sticks up
- 2:44Speaker 3: for his teammates, will fight. There's just a lot of
- 2:47Speaker 3: good aspects and attributes to Vince Dunn's game.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Looking at Vancouver here tonight, they're a team that is
- 2:53Speaker 1: not having the season that they would like, but still
- 2:55Speaker 1: have some dangerous pieces and I know they're looking to
- 2:57Speaker 1: make a big push in the second half to turn
- 3:00Speaker 1: their fortunes around. What about the Canucks makes this game
- 3:03Speaker 1: challenging this evening?
- 3:04Speaker 2: Well, they've got skill.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I mean you look at their speed and their skill,
- 3:08Speaker 3: you know, and for right now anyway, and you can
- 3:09Speaker 3: just say for right now, they keep winning. Who knows,
- 3:11Speaker 3: they may, you know, they find a way back into
- 3:13Speaker 3: the race whatever, But for right now, there's not a
- 3:16Speaker 3: whole lot to.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Lose for them at the moment.
- 3:18Speaker 3: They're playing loose, you know, and they've got skilled Peterson
- 3:22Speaker 3: Debrace you know, Iron it's a good player. Besser can
- 3:25Speaker 3: score goals. You know, there's a lot of talent there,
- 3:29Speaker 3: you know, and they played a very good hockey game
- 3:32Speaker 3: their last time out against Winnipeg. You know, this is
- 3:35Speaker 3: going to be as as all of them are.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I can say that.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I'll just I'll just be a broken record here at
- 3:40Speaker 3: the end of every one of these interviews.
- 3:42Speaker 2: It's going to be a tough game for us.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I assume a good start, I assume strong special teams
- 3:47Speaker 1: play are going to be key to success tonight. What
- 3:49Speaker 1: else are you looking for from your group to get
- 3:51Speaker 1: back in the wing column?
- 3:52Speaker 2: Compete.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I want to make sure that you know, regardless of
- 3:57Speaker 3: what happens, and that's kind of been our motto all
- 4:00Speaker 3: year long.
- 4:01Speaker 2: You know, if you compete and you.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Do the right thing is you're gonna put yourself in
- 4:04Speaker 3: the winning category more than you're gonna put yourself in
- 4:07Speaker 3: the losing category overall, but we didn't compete hard enough.
- 4:11Speaker 3: For whatever reason. We got to get back to that
