- 1:26I'll take Gentry for the block, please, yes, exactly, Hopefully hopefully
- 1:37at the end, hopefully at the end, you pick the right key and
- 1:41you win the Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra Cutlass. You didn't just have the car.
- 1:49You have the golden reel cutlets Sierra. You you like you totally went there
- 1:53with that. That is commitment. I feel like Dan has watched a lot
- 1:57of game shows in his life. Yeah, I got to feel about that.
- 2:02Yeah, I know. Yeah, I don't know. Did I I
- 2:07heard that that Dan, you might not actually be with us today because of
- 2:14a space injury. Yeah, my zero gmc barrow training. We had an
- 2:23accident. Yeah I got Yeah, I got a spin kick to the chin
- 2:30last week, and uh it did not It did not feel good. Uh,
- 2:35my jaw is not aligning the way it's supposed to ump. So I
- 2:42have I have a little case of the tmj um, which is if it
- 2:47doesn't feel good, does not feel good, especially since it'll go it'll go
- 2:52back. And what's that? Oh I was gonna say, yeah, tmj
- 2:55It'd been battling that for like twenty years. Believe me, I get it.
- 3:00Yeah, you gotta read it right. Put them in a body bag.
- 3:08Yeah, I was gonna ask for those I did not win the LD
- 3:15Valley Sorry, well maybe sorry. I got I got, I got second
- 3:22place, and and then my teacher broke my trophy in the parking lot.
- 3:30But but yeah, no, I'm okay. It's just it's more uncomfortable than
- 3:34painful. Yeah, right now, because it'll go, it'll go back where
- 3:37it's supposed to be. And I'm like, all right, cool, this
- 3:38is all over. And like an hour later, I'll close I'll close my
- 3:42mouth. I'm like, nope, that's not how you're supposed to go.
- 3:45Yeah. Yeah, my my job will pop so loud that it can be
- 3:49heard across the room. Oh geez, yeah see, and mine doesn't pop.
- 3:53See at least when if it pops, I'll know it happened. This
- 3:58is just like a surprise. Some mornings that wake up, everything's good.
- 4:00Some mornings I wake up, I'm like, oh, nope, can't shoot
- 4:04today. You have but showing makes it better. You got the little dental
- 4:09guard thing. Yeah, I was wearing that when I got kicked in the
- 4:13face. No no, no, I mean when you wear when you sleep.
- 4:19You got kicks so hard. Chad got knocked off the podcast. That's
- 4:27pretty good. And Chad is in his basement, you know, in Kansas
- 4:31City, and he's just like right now, he's like Scott Bowders his home
- 4:43right now, going. So if it gets just a little bit worse,
- 4:46he won't be able to talk. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 4:49He's thinking about he's thinking about the Gentry Daniel Scott show right going forward.
- 4:58He's got like a there I can eliminate them. Oh man, boy,
- 5:06have we got a lot to talk about today? Yeah, there's a lot.
- 5:12Okay, let's get to the news, all right. So there's a
- 5:20there's a little bit of a convention going on right now in Vegas, and
- 5:25so that's where the majority of the news coming out of. Yeah. Uh,
- 5:29there's not a lot of news coming out of it, because I would
- 5:31imagine because of the strikes. So they're not announcing new things or anything like
- 5:35that. But but we are getting some stuff. So our first news story
- 5:40comes to us from trekmovie dot com and the headline is Terry Farrell joints to
- 5:45Boldly Go road trip documentary documenting and visiting Star Trek locations. So right now
- 5:54there's a go fund me for this project. They are trying to just go
- 5:58to different Star Trek places like the Vascus Rocks and a few others and just
- 6:04kind of talk about the history of the show there and in those locations and
- 6:09what they mean. They're trying to raise looks like one hundred thousand dollars.
- 6:15So far they have raised about twenty six thousand on their Kickstarter, So and
- 6:19they've still got some time. And yeah, I imagine that we cover the
- 6:24costs and Terry's fees and all that. I gotta tell you, this sounds
- 6:28like a way for someone to get a free paid vacation. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:36I mean there is that aspect of it. Scott says he's biding his
- 6:41time waiting chat is knocked out. Is he's still wrong? Yeah? So,
- 6:48um, this was announced at the convention. It's just since they're there,
- 6:54they're kind of talking about it a little bit, and it is a
- 6:56project they can talk about. So and they probably somebody's probably got a booth
- 7:00with info on it for the Kickstarter and that guy I'm sure, I'm sure.
- 7:04Yeah. So I imagine after this weekend that that a kickstarter money will
- 7:09go up or maybe that is how it much has gone up. I don't,
- 7:12you know. We'll keep an eye on it. But yeah, so
- 7:15the plan is to make this, um you know, it doesn't say win,
- 7:20so I guess as soon as the campaign ramps up, which is September
- 7:25fifth, so that'll be coming up soon and then um, and then they'll
- 7:31try to do their show. Yeah. So here's a question. Okay,
- 7:36So, um, if you're shooting a documentary, uh, I mean,
- 7:46are there writers for a documentary and if so, are they part of the
- 7:50Screenwriters Guild or is it something different for like news writers and and on the
- 7:56same on the same note, Um, you know, if you appear in
- 8:01a documentary as yourself, are you acting and if so, does that fall
- 8:05under the guidelines of the screen Actors Guild. So I actually know the answers
- 8:09of these because I've done documentaries. Guess there are writers to documentaries because even
- 8:16though it's an event that you're covering, you have to select what clips you're
- 8:20showing and how to present that story. So it's not writing in a traditional
- 8:24screenwriting sense. It's more like producing and laying it all out together and all
- 8:28that. As far as if you're on there and you're you know, talking,
- 8:35they consider that presenting if you're the host, because you'll probably do have
- 8:39lines that you need to read because you're setting up the next clips and all
- 8:43that. There are fees for that. You can be in SAGGED as a
- 8:48presenter. Right. That's like how game show hosts can be on there and
- 8:52award hosts and all that. But, um, it depends on the documentary.
- 8:56It depends on who's funding it, how they're going about it. Most
- 9:00documentaries are independently funded, so they don't really fall under any of these.
- 9:03But if like Warner Brothers was going to do one, like they do one
- 9:07for the next Batman movie, they're doing their little mini doc, Yeah,
- 9:11then there's all the fees and all that union stuff attaches to that. I
- 9:16also was listening to NPR and they were talking about the strike and they actually
- 9:20said that they are they are part of SAG, but they are not the
- 9:24news folks or a different division or a different part of SAgs, so they
- 9:28don't fall under the strike. So yeah, so news is considered different from
- 9:33documentaries. So yeah, that's a whole Yeah, that's a whole other thing.
- 9:39Yeah, it's pretty pretty specific. But yeah, so they're trying to
- 9:45make this documentary. We'll see what happens. Cool our next news story.
- 9:48Probably the biggest thing to come out of the convention STLV this weekend, there
- 9:52was a clip from season two of Prodigy. It was a click clip where
- 9:58the characters finally get to meet the real Janeway and they actually get to meet
- 10:05the hologram doctor. So Robert Ricardo is back, and it's like a thirty
- 10:09second clip. They have not posted it online yet. This does not mean
- 10:13that it's coming back to Paramount. Plus they were very adamant about that.
- 10:18They're still going to try to find a new home and but they released But
- 10:22yeah, they finally get to meet Janeway and she kills all of them,
- 10:26yes, yeah this time, but she shoves them all the transporter first,
- 10:31yes, makes makes them into one person, so she could do it with
- 10:35a single blow. Yeah, got mine, Scott, that's funny. Check
- 10:41cast deep Space Mine, Oh my Lord in tarn and save Prodigy. Yeah,
- 10:48you know, next time I see Scott, I'm I'm gonna make sure
- 10:50I sit with my back against the wall, you know, Yeah, no
- 10:54kidding, know where all the exits are? Yeah? Yeah, awareness here,
- 11:00Dan, I got your drink. Now that that's okay, I already
- 11:03got one. Thank you, though, appreciate it. And our last news
- 11:07story um comes to us from Twitter or X. I don't know what the
- 11:13hell I'd call this thing anymore. But Terry Mattalis released an alternate clip of
- 11:20Shaw's death scene in Picard. So it's pretty much the same thing except for
- 11:26one extra line. So I'm gonna play it for you guys. You guys
- 11:28can check it out. I missed all that. I didn't get most of
- 11:46it, Okay. Um, so he just says more, you know,
- 11:50like like he said before, and then he the only thing that's different is
- 11:54he says, don't touch my stuff seven of nine. Uh yeah stuff.
- 12:03Yeah, okay, so that's that's the big difference. But that's all the
- 12:07news stories. Cool, okay, Cool. Well let's say we're going to
- 12:13main topic. Yeah. Fine, Well, now I always want that song
- 12:22to go on for longer. That's that's the goal with them. Yeah,
- 12:24it's a reoccurring theme here, that's right. Imagine people listening wanted to go
- 12:31on longer when I'm mostly do so this this was an interesting, uh episode
- 12:43of Star Trek. I honestly, I would love to hear, just like
- 12:48each one of us, give two minutes on your thoughts on this episode.
- 12:54They we'll get into well we talk about the plot, what happened, all
- 12:56that stuff, but just just give me like a minute or two of what
- 13:00your reaction was. Well, let me give the let me give the long
- 13:03line kind of what how Paramount has described this episode. Subspace Rhapsody is the
- 13:09name of the episode, episode two zero nine. An accident with an experimental
- 13:13quantum probability field causes everyone on the USS Enterprise to break out uncontrollably into song.
- 13:20But the real danger is that the field is expanding and beginning to impact
- 13:24other ships, allies and enemies alike. So pretty fair summation of what was
- 13:31happening. Um, who wants to go first? Talk about their Okay,
- 13:39I'll go first, Okay, go first. So I got done with the
- 13:46episode, huh and thought, Okay, that was cute, that was unique.
- 13:54Don't ever do it again. And I kind of I've kind of really
- 14:01had to marinate on this because I don't think I have ever ever had a
- 14:07Star Trek episode that I had such mixed emotions about. Okay, because it
- 14:16was extremely well done for what they were doing, for doing a musical.
- 14:22I mean, they had an Oscar winning choreographer, they had actual they had
- 14:30two folks who are part of a music group. They came in, they
- 14:33wrote the song, they wrote the lyrics. They did an incredibly good job
- 14:39doing what they did. It did not feel like Trek because we don't do
- 14:46musicals in track right now we do I'm hoping we don't ever again. I
- 14:56mean, I don't know. I, like I said, I have really
- 14:58mixed feelings about it. One hand, super clever, brilliantly done. These
- 15:05people can sing, they can dance, who knew? There were lots of
- 15:09little funny parts in it. But then there were also parts that were just
- 15:13dragging. Um when they did um, when Spot did his solo song,
- 15:20his solve for X or solve for Y and I'm the X Yeah, and
- 15:26then Hurra does a song immediately after that, I was like, Okay,
- 15:31this is now. Now it's dragging. This is going on too long.
- 15:35Of course, the whole premise for why this was happening in the first place
- 15:37was kind of yeah, they found a reason that yeah, shaky at best.
- 15:45The actors clearly had a good time doing this. They you know,
- 15:50nobody held back anything. Um, I don't know. There were, like
- 15:56I said, there were parts that were clever. There were parts that were
- 16:00really just oh my word, okay, next, let's go, let's go.
- 16:06Um. But like I said, I just I have such mixed feelings
- 16:10about it. So what did you guys think? Um? So I'm not
- 16:15a musical fan, right right. I think for what it is, I
- 16:21think it went really well. The first song of all the songs was my
- 16:25favorite. Yeah, yes, I like that too. Yeah, I think
- 16:29that was the best song. Um. But yeah, man, there was
- 16:32maybe two three too many songs for me. Yeah. I think it needed
- 16:36to be more like a Disney musical where there's a there is four more talking.
- 16:41Yes, that's a that's a good analogy, yeah, than than what
- 16:45this was, which was a Broadway musical where yes, every ten seconds is
- 16:49another song. Absolutely could see this being performed on a stage. Yeah yeah,
- 16:56and I wonder if that's the goal, you know, that that could
- 17:00be a thing that then they could take to conventions or travel around the country
- 17:04or whatever. So, um, I know that soundtrack is on Spotify right
- 17:10now. Yeah yeah yeah, and people are loving it so that's great.
- 17:14Uh. The reaction I've seen online has been mostly positive. There have been
- 17:19some people who vehemently hate it. Um, but it seems to be those
- 17:23that are negative have been like, yeah, it's not for me, but
- 17:26whatever, like it. It's fine? Um yeah, Dan, what would
- 17:32you think? Um? So I watched it twice, which if you if
- 17:38you've listened to this show before. You know that. Um, I only
- 17:45watch them twice when I when I enjoy them. Oh, I did enjoy
- 17:48it, okay, Um, I did not expect that I was. It
- 17:53was exciting to watch because it's different. It was fun to watch because it's
- 17:59different. It's funny because it's different, and we're seeing these characters. We're
- 18:04seeing these characters that we that we know and love in a new and interesting
- 18:10and humorous situation. Um. When I watched the show at home and there's
- 18:15other people in the house, I wear headphones, I don't you know.
- 18:18I like to turn it up. I like to hear everything and not have
- 18:22to not have to compete with what else is going on in the house.
- 18:26And I could see my wife. We live in a split level house,
- 18:30so if I'm laying on the couch watching the show, I could see up
- 18:33the up the stairwell into the kitchen. And I caught her looking at me
- 18:38a couple of times like what is he laughing at? And and you know,
- 18:44I brought her down and and played some of it for her so that
- 18:47she could, uh, she could laugh about it. Um. That being
- 18:52said, there are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours of Star Trek,
- 18:59and I'm glad only one hour of it is a musical. That, um
- 19:07exactly, it's exactly the right amount of ratio of musical to non musical for
- 19:11for Star Trek, it was it was new, it's something they've never done
- 19:17before. Now they've done it, we've experienced it. We can appreciate it
- 19:22for what it is. But I don't want to. I don't want this
- 19:26to be a thing where, you know, every season, now halfway through
- 19:30the season, it's it's the musical episode, you know. I don't I
- 19:34don't want that. Yeah, um, yeah, I'm I'm glad that they
- 19:41made and I think I talked about this last week that I hope they do
- 19:44it this way. They made the fact that they're singing and they're in a
- 19:48musical. They made it part of the story, not not just hey,
- 19:52we're gonna shot an episode of It would have been very easy to say,
- 19:53we're gonna shoot an episode of Star Trek, but it's a musical, and
- 19:57they just never talk about the fact that these people are singing on the bridge.
- 20:03I like that they that they made it part of the part of the
- 20:07show. If they were going to do another one of these. I would
- 20:11like it to be uh lower decks. I don't want to see Yeah,
- 20:18I just said that. He's absolutely absolutely okay. I'm not reading. Yeah,
- 20:22I'm not reading as as I'm talking. I can't walk and shoot gum
- 20:25um. And it would be very easy they were you know, the portal
- 20:30thing from two weeks before could have still been open and part of that energy
- 20:34followed them through or whatever they could. They could, they could, they
- 20:37could figure it out. Um. My favorite song again is probably the first
- 20:45one, okay, And the reason I like it is because it was still
- 20:52Star Trek. They were still doing and saying Star Trek things. They were
- 20:59just they were just doing it to music. Yeah, you know, the
- 21:03intermix chamber and containment field are stable. I'll get to the warp corps and
- 21:07assess it state when I'm able. And they put that to me, and
- 21:12that's exactly what they would stay, what they would say in that in that
- 21:15situation, and everyone's apologizing to each other back and forth, and that is
- 21:22so Star Trek. Give me a reading on such and such. I apologize,
- 21:25Captain, But you know, the blahblity blah blah blah blah blah is
- 21:27out of whack, I'll get back to you check with tactical and yeah,
- 21:33so you know when Lan comes in and gives her tactical assessment of the ship,
- 21:40and the rhyming and the cadence was just perfect. But she wasn't saying
- 21:45anything differently than what she would normally say or might normally say. And I
- 21:53it was just it was amusing to me to think about, Okay, you've
- 21:57got your star Trek right at this table, and you've got the um musical
- 22:06consultants that they brought in for the episode, right, And I imagine them
- 22:10sitting there and putting their heads together and say, okay, we have to
- 22:12talk about the intermix chamber and the shield polarity and the warp corep matter antimatter
- 22:18ratio and here make it rhyme, and they have to write a song about
- 22:23it. And I find the process that they must have gone through. I
- 22:27found that interesting. I also enjoyed how they when they threw to Ortegas,
- 22:36she musically said I'm Ortegas and I fly the ship. Yeah. Yeah,
- 22:41she didn't use those words, but they kept with that theme right of her
- 22:47saying that episode after episode. So I enjoyed that. Yeah, I think
- 22:52you're right, because that status report song did focus on bringing Star Trek into
- 22:56the musical. Yes, it's opposed to the character emotions that made it the
- 23:02more entertaining song, because I'm here for Star Trek, right, So yeah,
- 23:07Ortegas, Ortegas is at the helm, the pilot's seat is my realm.
- 23:12I'm Ortegas and I fly the ship. Yeah, and Uhura who said
- 23:18I keep us connected? So yes, yes, we're we're We're just defining
- 23:22everybody's roles here, I guess. So I'm curious if folks um will will
- 23:29tell us what they think that their favorite song was, now what we had?
- 23:32By the way, did you notice if you did not skip the credits
- 23:34at the beginning or the opening, if you didn't skip it, they sang
- 23:38that too at the very very beginning, and then of course they did it
- 23:41at the end as well. Yeah, that was That was like a barbershop
- 23:48quartet version of the incoming of the of the opening credits. And while and
- 23:55while I liked it, what I would have preferred, you know, the
- 24:00original TS theme song has lyrics that were never used on the show. I
- 24:07would have loved for them to use it actually actually perform that that song and
- 24:12sing those sing those lyrics. So I think it was kind of a missed
- 24:17opportunity there. And I did stay for the credits at the end to see
- 24:19if maybe they did it at the end, and they didn't. Yeah.
- 24:23But so the song status Report, Connect to Your Truth? How would that
- 24:30feel? Private conversation, which was kind of funny. Ye, keeping secrets,
- 24:37I'm ready, I'm the X, keep us connected and then we are
- 24:41one. So of all of those, I'm curious as to folks as to
- 24:45which one they think was was the best of all of the songs. And
- 24:48Dan obviously likes the Connected. I guess it was Status Report. That's Status
- 24:53Report. Yep. Yeah, mine was I'm Ready. I really like that
- 24:57one. Okay, Okay, Yeah, when when Standards of Purpose came on,
- 25:02I was like, oh, okay, maybe this won't be so bad.
- 25:03And then ye others happened. Like I didn't hate them, but I
- 25:07was just like, Okay, this is just not for me and it's fine.
- 25:11But but I also liked how they were still they were still their own
- 25:17characters. Y Yeah, so that was yeah. Lan was singing. Lan
- 25:23was singing, Uh, security detects, No threats will do a personal overhaul,
- 25:29no decks unchecked. All tactical functions are steady, phaser banks, deflect,
- 25:33the shields all at the ready. But as she was saying it,
- 25:37she was saying it like like she was yelling it to the captain as if
- 25:41they're they're in a firefight the same way, you know, like if consoles
- 25:45were exploding around them. That's how she would be yelling it across the bridge,
- 25:48and that's how she sang it too. I also I also liked how
- 25:56um again they made it part of the story and and this pocket universe that
- 26:02they're in had its own set of rules, um or, this pocket reality
- 26:07had its own set of rules. So when Bettel hails the ship and she
- 26:15starts singing and the music, the music is coming from the other ship,
- 26:19and this thing that's happening is originating on the other ship, uh Ln knows
- 26:26enough to walk across the bridge and terminate the transmission and that and that stops
- 26:33the that stops the musical number. Just as Pike is doing the double the
- 26:37double pull down fist dropped to his knees. Yeah, and then it stands
- 26:44up like what was they doing this? So I liked how okay the song
- 26:49is happening over there. She's not part of the song. It's a it's
- 26:53a it's a private conversation, was the name of it. Was the name
- 26:57of the song. It's a private conversation between um Pike and Patel Patel.
- 27:03And so because of that, she's not affected by the phenomenon, and she's
- 27:08outside of it and can just walk across the room and shut it off.
- 27:12Yeah. So I like I like how they you know, it had its
- 27:15own rules. Well, and I like that they made this singing a threat
- 27:19right because they were, Yes, they were expelling information that they shouldn't have
- 27:23been. Yes, and so that gave it at least context and a reason
- 27:27why we need to stop this, you know. Yeah, so that was
- 27:30cool. What was your Daniel, What was your favorite song? Oh?
- 27:36The first one? Status Report, Status Report. Although I did like when
- 27:38the Klingons like, yeah, the auto tune rap with the yeah and then
- 27:47I've heard that the that the Klingon captain was Hartack. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:55I did not know that. That's great. I like how if you I'm
- 27:59sorry, go ahead, No, I was just saying he's not good.
- 28:02I like how their uniforms seemed to be a blend between the TS movie slash
- 28:10uh tng cling on uniforms and the uniforms we saw in TS, The Golden,
- 28:18the Golden and Brown. They also kind of resembled the Discovery. We
- 28:22actually no, it was Mirror Universe, wasn't it. Who wasn't it u
- 28:27Georgoe's folks who were always wearing the black and the gold. Yeah, yeah,
- 28:32I was gonna say it was very reminiscent of that. Yeah, yeah,
- 28:36yeah. I also like at the end, you know, the spot
- 28:41is monitoring the the whatever they had to they had to get the get the
- 28:48equalizer up to up to eleven. Yeah. Yeah, they had to turn
- 28:52it up to eleven, and he's, you know, he's at his station
- 28:56and he's monitoring it, and it's, oh, it's only ten. It's
- 28:57got to go to eleven. I'm gonna have to dance to save the Enterprise.
- 29:03And he just runs over and yeah, gets his sass up and joins
- 29:08the congoline and saves the ship. I also enjoyed how you know, the
- 29:14ships were dancing at the end, the ships were dancing and then pyrotechnics,
- 29:22which is how a musical ends. Everyone all the props, everything from the
- 29:26whole show is back on the stage. It's all moving around of that boom.
- 29:30There's pyrotechnics and everyone bows. Sounds like you've been to a few musicals
- 29:41in your life. I've been to a fu I don't know. Yeah,
- 29:47handful. I mean you're in the region for that, So just say Hamilton
- 29:52you'll be safe. Yeah, I've never seen Hamiltons. I have and I've
- 29:56seen it live and I saw it on the movie on Disney or whatever.
- 30:02You have to see it live. Yeah, it's just it is spectacular live.
- 30:07But that's a different thing. So ty Tice is the anomaly explained the
- 30:14singing, but you know, it doesn't explain the dancing. Um. When
- 30:19you sing, you just you dance. That just happens. That's a thing
- 30:22that happens. Helping, that's right. You know, you start tapping your
- 30:26toe and you know, if you're at a concert and it's a it's a
- 30:33standing concert, you dance. It just happens. It's not something you decide
- 30:37to do. Yeah, just watch the clips from the Taylor Swift concert.
- 30:40Everywhere right now, you're under dancing. If you're at a concert and you're
- 30:45you're standing the entire time, you're under fifty okay, yeah, I just
- 30:49tell you, yeah, that's true. I'm wondering though, if the Klingons
- 30:53all committed uh, if they all killed themselves after that, just to prevent
- 30:59dishonor to their house, so it's never spoken of again. Yes, yeah,
- 31:06yeah, that is not something we discussed with outsiders. Here says Dan
- 31:14was now dancing. He has face of the heart. It's been a long
- 31:19road mm hm oh boy. Yeah, we'll check. Looking a little gentry
- 31:32today. He is, he's got he's got a case of the gentries.
- 31:36Hold on, I'll hold on. Let we h. I'll get to uh,
- 31:40I'll get to feedback as he does. I get the chord right here,
- 31:42right, Yeah, So I do want to thank I do want to
- 31:48thank them for something's um unless I missed it, I don't think we saw
- 31:53um my least favorite engineer lady singing right one or two? She she just
- 32:00had one or two lines. Yeah. I don't think I could handle.
- 32:04I don't think I could handle like a two minute ballot of her singing about
- 32:08antiques or something. You should have seen it in my time. Oh God,
- 32:15I can't stand her. I just can't. I just can't. I
- 32:21think for her with character development. They have got to get her out of
- 32:29the airlock, right. You know, I like her, I just we
- 32:32need to see her expertise. All every time I see her, she's walking
- 32:37around and I'm like, can we get her to you know, show that
- 32:40you've got some incredible expertise. And that's why you're in this position, not
- 32:44just because you know, you wanted to get off the star base. Um,
- 32:47but I feel like she's a placeholder and that there's something that is definitely
- 32:53coming in terms of who's going to be, you know, the new mister
- 32:57Scott or something like that. Yeah, maybe mister Scott will be the new
- 33:00mister Scott. Hopefully down with that. Yeah, it's prett Scott Bowders will
- 33:07be the new mister Scott. There you go, t Scott, can you
- 33:10can? That's right? Um. So they gave us a little clue as
- 33:17to where we are in the timeline now too. I caught that too.
- 33:23Carol Marcus is is in the picture and pregnant with David and uh that's the
- 33:31thing. May he rest in peace? Oh my favorite line, my favorite
- 33:37line? What's that? So they have the first musical number they go to
- 33:40commercial that come back. They're in the ready room, and Pike says,
- 33:45well, that happened, Yeah, yes happened. I love that. I
- 33:53love that. I'm surprised we did not get a a cooking song with him.
- 34:02I bet there was a giant board with all right, what songs can
- 34:06we do? Yeah, and that was probably on there. Yeah, the
- 34:10paprika and only a table spoon, just the helm, so we don't collide
- 34:17with that moon. Nice Daniel, take it, No, I got I'm
- 34:27not part of this. Hard stop were done. We crashed into the moon.
- 34:38Remember that time that Dan and Gentry were freestyle singing? Yeah, that's
- 34:45right, that was funny. H Yeah. By way, one of my
- 34:51least favorite characters of all on from from the Original Trek is David Um.
- 34:59You remember from Cohn Start two now, actually it was start check three is
- 35:05where he was killed, wasn't it. Yeah? Yeah yeah, I couldn't
- 35:08stand that guy. I don't know why. I was just like, you're
- 35:12such a whiner, you're not a You're not Kirk in any way, shape
- 35:15or form. Yeah, bat left, I'll take care of this problem for
- 35:20you. Geez. Anyway, it's like we got to kill someone gonna be
- 35:28Kirk's son. Okay, Wow, that was pretty good. Can you can
- 35:35you scream? Run for it, Marty, It's the Libyans, Run Marty,
- 35:40It's the Libyans. Pretty good. You never know what you're gonna get
- 35:50on this show. Now. We did also get a preview for next week's
- 35:54episode. I didn't say that. Yeah, it was on the Will Wheaton
- 36:00Show. Um, well that's why. Yeah, that's why. The preview
- 36:04is pretty intense. Definitely the Gorner coming back and yeah, so it's gonna
- 36:10be intense. Sounds like, uh yeah, I don't know who predicted it,
- 36:14but it sounds like Captain our Pike's girlfriend is in danger and so they're
- 36:17gonna need to save her. So yeah, yeah, and then he'll swear
- 36:22off of Romance forever probably I don't know, or she'll die like some people
- 36:29predicting. You know, they've they've done a good job at making the Gorn
- 36:35dark. Yeah. Yeah, so we've only seen um like baby Gorn,
- 36:43right, we haven't seen a full grown correct correct Kirk? Okay, tie,
- 36:51I agree. It was answer Mount's voice on his singing was a little
- 36:54a little weird. I think they had other people singing and these guys were
- 37:00some of them. Yeah, that that could not sing well, ln,
- 37:06we know she has her own singing career, so correct. Yeah, and
- 37:09then um chapel if that was her voice, Holy cow. Yeah I like
- 37:17that a lot. But yeah, because stage left to perform their own musical
- 37:24number. So one of my favorite, one of my favorite Star Trek cosplays.
- 37:30I think I've I've mentioned this before, but about ten or fifteen years
- 37:34ago, I was at STLV and there was a dude wearing the white sequin
- 37:39bell bottom, high collar Elvis jumpsuit, but he was also wearing the Gordon
- 37:45mask and it was perfect. It was the most vegasy Star Trek thing you've
- 37:54ever seen. I love it. I love it. I'm gonna try and
- 37:59find a picture and I'll put it up. What about this guy? They're
- 38:02coming on Elvis colling on with with the dazzled bath. Yes, rid Stones
- 38:12all over it. That's nice. Yes, nice. Well, let's let's
- 38:19get to feedback. I think that's pretty much all we've got to say about
- 38:21the the show. So hey, so yeah, we've got some feedback.
- 38:37Um, I do have a packed lid review, so really, yes,
- 38:46and we actually have a visual component to it. So let's let's play it,
- 38:53ladies and gentlemen, it is my sincere pleasure to present to you Star
- 39:00season two, episode nine, Subspace Rhapsody, a peck led review. But
- 39:07why live long and prosper and we'll see you out there. Yeah, the
- 39:21back list did not enjoy that. Oh that that caught me off guard.
- 39:28Yeah. Yeah, I was trying to get the pictured animate, but all
- 39:32I can do is the baseball. So there we go. That was that
- 39:37was God. Yeah, I'm gonna be saying that for next week. Good
- 39:45job, Scott Mercy. So I sent you that picture of the corn as
- 39:50the Elvis. Oh okay, Elvis or whatever. Yeah, let me put
- 39:54that up. I'll look at that. Yeah, wow, that's very good.
- 40:06Yeah, I like that that the lady Gordon is wearing shoes and he's
- 40:09not. Yeah, he's got green feet. That's right. Yeah, that's
- 40:14that's a choice. You know, Tie just brought up Tye and Wolf just
- 40:20made a comment that I think is a pretty good, um, a pretty
- 40:24good point that even if this wasn't your cup of tea, and you know,
- 40:29and this this, you know, you're like, Okay, they did
- 40:30it. I'm glad they did it. Don't do it again. That's how
- 40:32I felt. Um it was ten percent of the season. Yeah, And
- 40:39someone else had mentioned earlier that if this had been like one, you know,
- 40:43we had another eight to go, you'd be like, okay, you
- 40:46move on. We got one left. Yeah, and that's it. And
- 40:52I didn't even when I realized that the other day that there was only one
- 40:55episode left, I was just like, oh crap. Now, thankfully Lower
- 40:59Dex is coming in. But yeah, and you know, just stop filming,
- 41:04by the way, because of the strike for season three on Stranger World.
- 41:08Yeah, yeah, I don't think they were filming yet. Um,
- 41:12but yeah, it's everything is halted. Something I think I read actually said
- 41:16that they had started filming three and that they had stopped because of the strike.
- 41:22So oh yeah, it could be. Could be. I mean they
- 41:25stopped midway through the Deadpool movie. So I'm sorry Daniel Dan and I interrupted
- 41:30you. Yeah. No, I was just gonna say, um, talking
- 41:34about this is this is ten percent of the season and we only have,
- 41:37you know, we have a finite number of episodes. It just reminds me
- 41:39of back in the day when you watch your you tune in to watch your
- 41:44favorite sitcom and quickly realize that it's there's only one character from the show on
- 41:51it and he goes to visit a different family and it's a backdoor, backdoor
- 41:54pilot for a different show, you know, and you're like, oh,
- 42:00we wasted an episode, wasted an episode on this backdoor pilot that's not gonna
- 42:04get picked up. And every time you rewatch the series going forward, it's
- 42:08that awkward episode midway between season seven where Arnold Arnold goes and visits another family
- 42:15and he's in the first five minutes, in the last five minutes, and
- 42:17it's not an episode of different strokes, it's something else. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:23Alejandra, I think you're right, But I think we're gonna They're gonna
- 42:27do a cliffhanger for sure. Oh yeah. If the Gorn attackles resolve within
- 42:31forty five minutes of the show, yeah, the cliffhanger could be you know,
- 42:37Patel, is she dead or not? M Yeah yeah, Um,
- 42:42all right, we got some people on the line, so let's bring in
- 42:45Bathlet boy be there. Let's back, all right, nice, I'll knew
- 42:59it. Oh that was awesome, I think, yeah, I mean I
- 43:05would watch I watched I admit I watched Lee, I watched Pitch Perfect,
- 43:07all those but this was truly a Broadway Stole musical, even the music,
- 43:13because all those other songs, they're just doing covers of you know, rock
- 43:15songs and classic songs and stuff like that. But when the Clingops came one,
- 43:21I was expecting like a cling On opera and really deep low voice and
- 43:28yeah, and they just broke out into the K pop and I just I
- 43:30just lost it. I would just I think that was part of part of
- 43:37the anomaly, is that the people are doing things that they wouldn't normally do
- 43:42because they're in this pocket universe and Clingon's probably walk around the ship all day
- 43:45singing cling on opera. They don't do auto tune boy band rape, right,
- 43:52And that was their dishonor is that what are we doing here? Ka
- 43:55pop now has a new meeting in my head? That was all over the
- 44:00week. Yeah, Ywood that they explained it though, I mean it was
- 44:07part of the anomaly, right. I was like, Oh, we're in
- 44:10a musical thing. We had to follow the musical rules. And I thought
- 44:15it was actually interesting when I thought about Chapel and when you go back to
- 44:21watch the old series now and you see how Chapel looked at Spot and he
- 44:27had no emotion, he had nothing to return, and after seeing the way
- 44:30they explained this episode, how much how I guess hurt he was from that.
- 44:35Yeah, I can see it now and it's like, Wow, added
- 44:37way more depth to characters back then, and if anything, I think that's
- 44:43probably the best thing they've done with the series, is adding to stuff.
- 44:47I mean, I know they changed a bunch of things and redid things,
- 44:51but to add to that depth, yeah, I think that was probably my
- 44:54favorite part. So yeah, yeah, I think they did definitely did a
- 45:00good job with Spock with that relationship specifically. Now, the song was the
- 45:06song. It was interesting for x Um or Salve for y and I'm the
- 45:12x Um. It was nice to see that level of depth, but you
- 45:15almost Ethan Peck. You could almost see him physically change from that. You
- 45:23know, I might smile every once in a while to Nope, it's it's
- 45:28logic. From this point forward, he almost like this drawing end of himself.
- 45:34Hm um. There was a lot of people online talking about how technically
- 45:40this wasn't the first musical in Star Trek because they were saying all the past
- 45:46musical performances in other episodes, right whenever Riker would play or Vic would play.
- 45:52I don't agree with that. Yeah, yeah, that's that's not the
- 45:58same thing. Yeah, I think those are perform is not a musical.
- 46:00So yeah, yeah, this was a true musical. I mean yeah.
- 46:04The style of song they used, Yeah, well written songs, I mean
- 46:07I was impressed. Very well written. Yeah, the songs are very well
- 46:10written, clever, and they kept them, and they kept them star Trek
- 46:15e Yeah, you know if they kept introducing elements that we immediately would recognize.
- 46:21There's a part in one of the songs excuse me where they say to
- 46:24protect the mission our prime directive and you hear Spock overlaying the lyrics and say,
- 46:32not exactly, because that's not our prime directive. Our prime directive is
- 46:37not to interfere with lesser species, and YadA, YadA, YadA. So
- 46:43they kept interjecting bits of Star Trek that we would recognize. So this season
- 46:49we've had two very silly episodes, right, We've had the crossover and we've
- 46:52had this. Should they have spaced that out and maybe one of them have
- 46:57been in season three and only have like one big silly episode per season.
- 47:02Yeah, I think folks would have tolerated it. Better. Yeah if they,
- 47:08But um, it's a previous episode, the War one that was so
- 47:14that was such a War one. Yeah, you kind of almost forgot about
- 47:20the crossover. Which which one was that remind me last week last week where
- 47:23everybody had PTSD from the War with Chapel. Oh yes, yeah, yeah,
- 47:29yeah. No. I think they did that on purpose to break it
- 47:31up a bit. Otherwise you'd have people saying, you know, what are
- 47:36they doing to this show? It's it's it's not serious anymore. So I
- 47:39think they definitely did that on purpose. But if that was smart, they
- 47:45would they would take the show on the road and have a tour of this
- 47:49episode for like a Broadway tour, all the plays and have the music,
- 47:53the actor, a bunch of different actors playing the part. And I would
- 47:59I'd probably go to just because it's the Star Trek thing. I'll watch anything
- 48:05Star Trek except the animated series. I wouldn't be surprised, Terry if that
- 48:10happens. I would not be surprised. Uh Wolf says, do you guys
- 48:15originally think this was meant for Discovery? I do not. I do not.
- 48:21Um, I don't think people care about those characters enough to sit through
- 48:28uh them singing about stuff Avengers the musical. There you go. Yeah,
- 48:35I could do this all day. They said they only sing when they have
- 48:38their emotions, so every single line and disco would have been singing. Yeah.
- 48:44Have been minutes of Michael Burnham sing yeah the whole time crying. Yeah,
- 48:51exactly, all right? Anything else you want to bring up? Taron
- 48:55before we out next year? STLV next year because I oh yeah, yeah,
- 49:02yeah, I fear you guys. So next year, for sure,
- 49:07Yeah, it'll be nice because the strike will be over and everything will be
- 49:12no strike, no COVID, you know. Yeah, I'm sure there'll be
- 49:15an earthquake or something that will prevent us from getting out California. Right,
- 49:22Yeah, we'll finally get those aliens. We'll finally get you know, Godzilla,
- 49:24something something, all right, the aliens are. The aliens are here.
- 49:30Did I watched I watched c SPAN last week? Right, that's right.
- 49:37I can't tell you about them, yeah, all right. And then
- 49:40we also got Chaz Biz well, damn, and he's got he's got a
- 49:50dog run around in the back ground. Yep, he's barky today. I
- 49:53don't know why. Yeah, gotta give him. What do you think is
- 49:59he sing? Is that what it is? Yeah, he's tried to east
- 50:00try to contribute to the musical nature of it. The other Hold on mutiny
- 50:06real quick. I'm gonna give him some bones. Okay, hold on,
- 50:12hold on, Yeah, he's not turned on. I turned on the Universal
- 50:15Translator. What he was saying is my name is Fido. I'm at the
- 50:19Helm. I chased the house. It's our guys talent, right yeah,
- 50:34wo man. So Scott Scott put something up about um Chicago twenty twenty four.
- 50:40There is there is there a thing? Or is it that his house?
- 50:45I think it says I actually I would actually prefer to go to Chicago
- 50:53over Vegas. Yeah actually, yeah, it's atually. I don't know if
- 51:01you know. But so they did the convention at the Rio. Yeah,
- 51:06huh have you ever been to the Rio? Yeah? I was there.
- 51:10I was there for a convention about well they've been doing it there about ten
- 51:15years. So yeah, not not not the not the best on the strip.
- 51:19Yeah, from the images I've seen it, it's yeah, I don't
- 51:22think it's even on the strip if I remember correct, that's that's that's off
- 51:24the strip. It's off the strip. Yeah, I say Penn and Teller
- 51:29there so that it was walking by. I'm sorry, no, I saw
- 51:35the shot was funny, man, it was funny that just one know,
- 51:38Chaz, it's your dog, Okay, is it still a live I have
- 51:42family here and they're walking around and disturbing them. So it's my fam my
- 51:47dogs are Maybe we pick a different city than it would, just do our
- 51:51thing where we just go to like to a comic book convention, like something
- 51:55that's got a little bit of everything. Sure, I'm fine, just find
- 52:00something preferably but before May, because I have a delta credit. Yeah all
- 52:07right, well let so seriously, seriously, if we find something, you
- 52:12know, I wouldn't mind that. Yeah, I wouldn't either. Yeah,
- 52:15okay, cool, Jamine. Would you think of the episode? Uh?
- 52:22Yeah, that's what I thought of it. It happened, It happened.
- 52:29It took me to watchings, so I stayed up like to watch it,
- 52:31and then I was like, I think I'll go to bed now. So
- 52:36get a fever dream, which was your favorite song, the one where they
- 52:42turned the song off on Pike starts sing grand and then the lin just walks
- 52:50over and shuts the communication off. So that was great and then auto tune
- 52:55clingons. Never thought I would see that in my life. I never thought
- 53:02auto team. Why did you let him in? You know what's funny?
- 53:10So I was taking notes during I knew I was gonna be a guest hosting,
- 53:15So I was taking notes during the show while I was watching it.
- 53:17Yeah, and I wrote a thing and here towards the beginning of the show
- 53:22it said, oh, my word, the last thing anything anyone wants is
- 53:25singing Klingons. And then we get to the end and what do we have?
- 53:29Singing clings? Right all right? Right by the way. How many
- 53:32times did they slip Heisenberg compensator in there? I don't know. I'll I
- 53:38gonna say, is the worst engineer in Star Trek history suggested to sing into
- 53:43the stinking thing? So it's all her fault. So if you didn't like
- 53:46the episode, ke Bears got the comment of the day, yea a Chasma's
- 53:52house to save the dog? Love it, Dan's resistingly urge you put it.
- 54:06Let's get to the dog. Now, let's save the dog. I
- 54:10gave him a bone and then they're like, starts sparking, don't get so
- 54:15that's another Yeah, that's funny, But now, now, Dan, remember
- 54:22next time wax off and you would have saved you, like, yeah,
- 54:32if you okay, yeah off. So what you said the first time means
- 54:38another thing. Yeah that was yeah. Well I like kars. I've learned
- 54:45it's from Karate Kids. So remember Dan, wax off? Thanks, PG
- 54:57thir. Let's keep it, PG thir. It's like it's PEG. You
- 55:00watched the movie. There's nothing dirty on those movies. What are the other
- 55:09Dan's gonna bring the hand drums next time, he's gonna go. You didn't
- 55:17watch Karate Kit two, Karate Kit three, and then all of Cooper Kai
- 55:22and the next Karate made and the next yeah yeah, and then the Jackie
- 55:28Chan that knows kung fu not karate. So, by the way, I
- 55:34saw the I saw the Ninja Turtle movie this weekend with my Jackie. Jackie
- 55:38Chan was the voice of Splinter, which was pretty interesting. Was it?
- 55:44Is it worth saying? I had fun with it? My son and his
- 55:49friend loved it. Yeah, okay, what about you? I Um,
- 55:52I enjoyed it. I uh, you know, I'm on the hustle relaxeres
- 56:00for my for my job, and it makes it makes me so tired.
- 56:06And I did I did. I nodded off for just just just just a
- 56:14microsecond. It was it was one, you know, it was one of
- 56:15these when your snork wakes you up right. Yeah, that's my wife.
- 56:24Every movie I'd be like, you're snoring. I'm always nudging her, you
- 56:30know. I So about twenty years ago, I was on a date and
- 56:37I was dating this girl and we went to the movies and she fell asleep
- 56:43during the movie. But she fell asleep like this, her head, her
- 56:50head was back tilted to the side, mouth wide open. I could see
- 56:53her tonsils and I looked at her and I and I thought to myself,
- 56:59I can't do it. Do I want to do? I want to see
- 57:01that every morning for the rest of her So he starts with popcorn over on
- 57:07the side to see how many he can get in there. So, uh,
- 57:12you know, we stayed for the rest of the movie and I told
- 57:15her it's not you, it's me. And that was the seats like set
- 57:20in the front road or something diver there. Could you imagine she wakes up
- 57:24after the movie, she's only one in the theater. I'm gone and I
- 57:29just gotta find a ride hole And you were her ride anyway, real quick.
- 57:40Dangit? Didsee didse Barbie? Oh? Yeah? With my daughter?
- 57:46Okay, it was okay, Yeah, I'll preach you some some part my
- 57:52son I have not yet. My son saw Oppenheimer. My son is eighteen,
- 57:58and he thought it was fantasic, pastic. Yeah. Yeah. So
- 58:02I just don't know if I can sit for three hours in a movie theater,
- 58:06I go to a movie theater that serves alcohol, and you can do
- 58:07it, you know, but I'll definitely fall asleep. I know. My
- 58:19wife fell asleep through that one. And then she's like it's too long.
- 58:22I was like, yeah, I know, it's too long, but it's
- 58:23good. It's really good. So definitely check it out. But all I
- 58:28gotta say is no more musical episodes for Star Trek. Yeah, I agree
- 58:34they did, because I don't know. I just I like musicals, but
- 58:40I don't like this to be a musical. And I think what did worked
- 58:45better is the Lower Deck It's episode. Then that would have been more like
- 58:50South Park when they do their musicals. Yes, it could have been really
- 58:52really funny that way, because that could have been a little dirty year and
- 58:58yeah, it would have worked. Yeah, and goof here, it would
- 59:00have made more sense for that show than this than some pattern that I don't
- 59:06know how to communicate with. And then all of a sudden they start singing
- 59:08to it and it goes off the rails. I'll tell you this, those
- 59:13Spotify numbers jump really high. Lower deck will have a musical episode as well.
- 59:16Yes, yeah, I think you're right. Yeah, and supposedly it's
- 59:22doing really well on Spotify, so yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll see
- 59:24if people like their musicals except to me. So all right, ja,
- 59:30well thanks for being on. Okay, well, thank you guys. Bye,
- 59:36all right? Um anything else? Uh t Bear says. So if
- 59:45Scott, Gentry and Chaz are the next next gin Bridge crew, does that
- 59:50make the rest of his lower deckers? Yes, yes, I like it.
- 59:53I like it all right, as opposed to upper deckers, which is
- 59:59a completely different, different thing. Oh no, god, sorry, Well
- 1:00:07on that note. On that note, yeah, everybody can go google what
- 1:00:14that means very quickly. Um. If anyone has suggestions on what might be
- 1:00:20a good event for folks to meet up at, oh yes, I would
- 1:00:24love to hear it in like the discord group Facebook, especially the Facebook group,
- 1:00:30um something like that, because I'd love to start looking to see if
- 1:00:34there's something we can get before. Don't forget about calling in to actually talk
- 1:00:42to Chad, the real Chad. Who's got that phone number, handy it's
- 1:00:46eight one six to eight seven zero four four eight eight one six to eight
- 1:00:51seven zero four for eight. Operators are not standing by. It's a voicemailbox,
- 1:00:55but we want to hear from you, so give us a call and
- 1:00:58we'll play it on the show. And also the coffee count uh is one.

- 1:01:07because you can also donate to the show there. Yeah, awesome, Well,
