- Lucas: So, Episode 111. We've done quite a bit in the park already — directions, nature, playground stuff. Luna: Yeah, we have! But today feels different. I've been wanting to learn how to describe specific things I see, like trees and flowers. Lucas: Perfect timing. Let's start with two basic words: 'el árbol' and 'la flor'. El árbol means 'the tree'. La flor means 'the flower'. Luna: El árbol, la flor. Okay, el árbol sounds strong, la flor sounds delicate. Lucas: Good instincts. Repeat after me: el árbol. Luna: El árbol. Lucas: La flor. Luna: La flor. Got it. Lucas: Now let's describe them. 'El árbol es alto' — the tree is tall. 'Alto' means tall. Luna: El árbol es alto. That's nice. What about a short tree? How would I say 'the tree is short'? Lucas: You'd say 'El árbol es bajo'. Bajo means short. But today let's focus on alto. So, El árbol es alto. Luna: El árbol es alto. El árbol es alto. Okay, I think I've got it. Lucas: Now for a flower: 'La flor es bonita' — the flower is pretty. Bonita means pretty. Luna: La flor es bonita. Oh, that's easy. Bonita reminds me of 'bonito'. Lucas: Exactly. Same word, just feminine for flor. So La flor es bonita. Luna: La flor es bonita. I love that. Lucas: Let's put them together in a sentence. 'Hay muchas flores' — there are many flowers. Flores is the plural of flor. Luna: Hay muchas flores. So 'many flowers' is muchas flores? Lucas: Yes. And if you want to say 'I like this tree', you say 'Me gusta este árbol'. Este means 'this'. Luna: Me gusta este árbol. That's useful. Can I say 'Me gusta esta flor' for flower? Lucas: Exactly. 'Esta' for feminine words. So 'Me gusta esta flor'. Great catch. Luna: Okay, let me try a full sentence. Hay muchas flores bonitas en el parque. Lucas: That's perfect! 'There are many pretty flowers in the park.' You're a natural. Luna: Thanks! You know, it's funny — when I actually use these phrases in real life, it makes me feel more connected to the place. Lucas: That's exactly why we make these episodes. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Spanish, it's because we focus on real, usable language. Luna: Yeah, it's a small gesture that helps us keep doing this. So, back to the park — I want to practice describing more trees. Lucas: Sure! Let's try: 'Me gusta este árbol alto.' I like this tall tree. Luna: Me gusta este árbol alto. And for a flower: 'Me gusta esta flor bonita.' Lucas: Perfect. Now imagine you're walking in the park and you see a big tree. What do you say? Luna: El árbol es alto. And maybe 'Hay muchas flores.' Lucas: Exactly. Let's do a quick review. Repeat after me: el árbol. Luna: El árbol. Lucas: La flor. Luna: La flor. Lucas: El árbol es alto. Luna: El árbol es alto. Lucas: La flor es bonita. Luna: La flor es bonita. Lucas: Hay muchas flores. Luna: Hay muchas flores. Lucas: Me gusta este árbol. Luna: Me gusta este árbol. That felt good. I think I can actually use these next time I go for a walk. Lucas: That's the goal. Practice these phrases and you'll be describing nature in Spanish in no time. Thanks for joining us on Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Luna: See you next time! Practice those trees and flowers.
