- 0:00Hello everyone and welcome back to the Spy Trader podcast !
- 0:04I am your host , Sunny Sideup , and I am so glad you could join me this morning .
- 0:08It is 6 am on Saturday , June 13th , 2026 , here on the Pacific coast .
- 0:15We have quite a bit to talk about after a wild week on Wall Street , so grab your coffee and let's dive right in .
- 0:21The U.S.
- 0:22stock market just wrapped up a week that started with a lot of nerves but ended with some serious resilience .
- 0:29After a tough selloff early in the month , we saw the S&P 500 , often tracked by the SPY ETF , close Friday at 7,431.46 .
- 0:40That is up about half a percent for the day , but the real story was the massive rally we saw on Thursday .
- 0:47The Nasdaq100 , or the QQQ , was the center of attention because of a historymaking event : the SpaceX IPO .
- 0:56Meanwhile , the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.7 percent on Friday as investors shifted some money into older sectors while oil prices cooled down .
- 1:08Speaking of oil , the energy sector was actually the week's biggest loser .
- 1:13We saw WTI Crude Oil drop to an eightweek low , closing near 85 dollars a barrel .
- 1:20This happened because of reports that the U.S.
- 1:23and Iran might be reaching a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz , which is a major relief for global trade but a hit for energy stocks in the XLE ETF .
- 1:33Over in the tech world , it was a bit of a roller coaster .
- 1:37Chip stocks like Micron saw some big swings , but Intel got a huge boost after Google placed a massive order for 3 million TPUs .
- 1:47And we can't forget the main event : SpaceX.
- 1:49Trading under the ticker SPCX , it opened at 150 dollars and finished Friday at over 160 dollars .
- 1:57That puts the company valuation at more than 2 trillion dollars !
- 2:01It is amazing to see that much demand for highquality aerospace and AI assets .
- 2:06Now , let’s look at why this is happening .
- 2:09We are currently in a tugofwar between strong corporate earnings and persistent inflation .
- 2:15The May inflation data showed that the Consumer Price Index is at 4.2 percent yearoveryear .
- 2:21That is higher than many people like , and it means things are still expensive for families and businesses .
- 2:27Because of this , everyone is watching the Federal Reserve meeting next week .
- 2:31Kevin Warsh is the new chair , and he is expected to be quite hawkish , meaning he might keep interest rates higher for longer to fight that inflation .
- 2:40This has pushed the 10year Treasury yield up to 4.48 percent .
- 2:46So , what does this mean for your portfolio ?
- 2:48My current analysis suggests we are moving from a market where people buy anything that is moving fast to a market where quality really matters .
- 2:56For trading recommendations , I have a few ideas to keep your strategy balanced .
- 3:02First , for core equity , take a look at the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF , or VTI .
- 3:09It gives you broad exposure beyond just the top tech giants .
- 3:13If you still want that growth potential , the Invesco QQQ Trust is still the place to be , especially with companies like CoreWeave joining the index .
- 3:22For those looking for defensive income , the iShares 20 plus Year Treasury Bond ETF , or TLT , is looking interesting .
- 3:31If oil stays low and inflation starts to cool , these longdated bonds might be a great pick at current prices .
- 3:38I also like the Financial Select Sector SPDR , known as XLF .
- 3:44Large banks like Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley stand to benefit from a busy IPO market following the SpaceX success .
- 3:52And finally , if you have a longterm view , keeping an eye on SpaceX itself is a must .
- 3:57It is pricey , but it has a massive lead in satellite internet and space launch .
- 4:02To wrap it up , I would suggest a barbell strategy .
- 4:06Balance that highgrowth excitement from SpaceX or the QQQ with the stability of financials and broad market funds like VTI .
- 4:15This should help you weather any volatility the Fed might bring next week .
- 4:19That is all for this edition of Spy Trader .
- 4:22I am Sunny Sideup , wishing you a wonderful Saturday and a great weekend of rest before the markets open again .
- 4:29See you next time !
