- 4:51Speaker 2: fifty first birthday on April the first, and I am
- 4:55Speaker 2: just excited for what God has the store for me
- 4:59Speaker 2: going forward and the year. And like always, everybody that
- 5:02Speaker 2: know me and have been knowing me since I've gotten
- 5:05Speaker 2: really into writing and all the things that I do
- 5:08Speaker 2: across these social media platforms know that every year I
- 5:12Speaker 2: like to produce a piece and it drops on my
- 5:15Speaker 2: birthday to not just celebrate my birthday, but to celebrate
- 5:19Speaker 2: those around me that are doing amazing things. So this year,
- 5:23Speaker 2: I decided to really focus on poetry and allowing those
- 5:29Speaker 2: that are in my circle to let their voices come
- 5:33Speaker 2: forth and let them shine in a space. I was
- 5:37Speaker 2: excited that we Want We when we released on April
- 5:41Speaker 2: the first we released as a number one new release. Exciting,
- 5:46Speaker 2: exciting to do that and to be able to it
- 5:50Speaker 2: was twenty six of us sharing inside of this book.
- 5:53Speaker 2: So I'm excited tonight and I've asked all of the
- 5:57Speaker 2: poets to bring a piece to share. So I'm going
- 6:01Speaker 2: to allow my co hosts to share their pieces, and
- 6:06Speaker 2: then we're gonna start bringing up our guests after they
- 6:09Speaker 2: share their pieces. Ava, if you would go first?
- 6:14Speaker 5: Sure, I think I like the short pom because it
- 6:18Speaker 5: gets you thinking, and it's called the thinking.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Here we go. How do you show up for the world?
- 6:25Speaker 4: Your thoughts, your actions lead you to a place, a
- 6:29Speaker 4: place that is designed for your spirit. How do you
- 6:33Speaker 4: show up for the world? Are your actions con changes?
- 6:37Speaker 4: Do you act as if and your.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Electronic spirit charge the world? Change the world, build someone
- 6:46Speaker 5: else's cuffs? Does your cup run us over to produce
- 6:50Speaker 5: positive change? How do you show up for the world?
- 6:55Speaker 5: Does that action show up for you? Do you show
- 6:58Speaker 5: up for you? That's the future depend on you.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Come on now, look inside of yourself, stand up, stand out?
- 7:07Speaker 4: How did you show up for the world? What you
- 7:11Speaker 4: do every day makes a difference.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Imagine what the world would be like without just one
- 7:17Speaker 5: thing you have brought to it.
- 7:20Speaker 4: There is no destination, only a journey. Show up for
- 7:24Speaker 4: the world. We are waiting.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Wow, we are waiting. Show up for the world because
- 7:36Speaker 2: we are waiting. Man, if they only knew, if they
- 7:40Speaker 2: only knew, that was amazing. A thank you for sharing.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Thank you for sharing. Thank you, Thank you exact. Let's
- 7:49Speaker 2: hear what you got tonight.
- 7:51Speaker 4: If I don't come behind that handle.
- 7:58Speaker 7: You love me?
- 7:59Speaker 4: What's a It was every time in the shadow.
- 8:04Speaker 6: And came out sid You need to get a little
- 8:06Speaker 6: volume of me talking for your prayers with a feather
- 8:10Speaker 6: thought loved in the day. If you set your eyes,
- 8:13Speaker 6: that's been thought when you look at mine? Did you
- 8:15Speaker 6: have to see the peaces of you and every prayer
- 8:18Speaker 6: and every pride I've got up in silent advanding of
- 8:21Speaker 6: your care trying to be the wrong one.
- 8:23Speaker 4: At the world.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Wasn't even fear. I learned how the risers like to
- 8:26Speaker 5: learn alone. If it's my.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Fear at night waiting for your guy in hands to
- 8:31Speaker 4: tell me.
- 8:31Speaker 7: What we are right?
- 8:33Speaker 4: Every every that's the moment.
- 8:35Speaker 5: It was a hut with a word saying, I wonder
- 8:38Speaker 5: if you ever loved me the love of day for
- 8:41Speaker 5: your father, I need to understand from my heart I
- 8:44Speaker 5: hold a little boy for your hands.
- 8:47Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Wow, that's that feast. That's that feast. Wow, that was nice.
- 8:57Speaker 2: That that I like that. We got a few minutes
- 9:05Speaker 2: before I start bringing up my guests. I want y'all
- 9:09Speaker 2: to share with me what this month mean for you
- 9:13Speaker 2: guys as poets, ava.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Gen writing poetry.
- 9:23Speaker 5: Since like the second grade, I folk a little anthology
- 9:26Speaker 5: from school performed like I don't know a month ago.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I don't know where I put it.
- 9:31Speaker 6: But I have it.
- 9:32Speaker 5: So this is like a full circle moment because I
- 9:36Speaker 5: have a published prom in a collegiate handbook, I have
- 9:39Speaker 5: my little anthology from second grade.
- 9:41Speaker 4: And now I'll look to you on.
- 9:42Speaker 5: A number one spot and I hope you're going to
- 9:46Speaker 5: share what happened, what else happened this week with us.
- 9:49Speaker 5: But I feel so honored and blessed for this. It's
- 9:53Speaker 5: just another stepping stone.
- 9:54Speaker 4: In what we do next. And thank you Angela. Is that.
- 10:00Speaker 6: I'll say for me, like this my right hand showing
- 10:03Speaker 6: especially my generation that we have a place, we have
- 10:07Speaker 6: a we have this month to celebrate, will.
- 10:09Speaker 8: Be right with our motions or whatever reveal I would
- 10:13Speaker 8: say for me, I have been acknowledged all across the world,
- 10:18Speaker 8: like this is a moment that we really really starting
- 10:21Speaker 8: to light on police that you know, we have a space.
- 10:25Speaker 6: You know we have more than just the writer. We
- 10:27Speaker 6: have more than just we have this, more than just
- 10:30Speaker 6: you know, the booking words.
- 10:31Speaker 5: You know, I want to say we're not be better
- 10:33Speaker 5: than like the Rapids, but I'm saying that's not right here.
- 10:36Speaker 4: It's really just the show, the show.
- 10:39Speaker 5: The world that we ain't not just playing with what
- 10:41Speaker 5: comes of that words in south so metaphor so that
- 10:44Speaker 5: went just my things for me.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Wow, So I wow. I really thought at one point
- 10:56Speaker 2: that poetry was was was dying out, that people were
- 11:00Speaker 2: really not really into poetry. And then COVID hit and
- 11:04Speaker 2: then I saw a major, major rebirth in poetry. Now
- 11:09Speaker 2: it may have not been so, but in my eyes,
- 11:13Speaker 2: that's what I saw. I saw a major rebirth because
- 11:16Speaker 2: a lot of us were forced to stay home. We
- 11:19Speaker 2: were forced to be and to be in the house,
- 11:24Speaker 2: so we had no choice but to tap into those things.
- 11:28Speaker 2: We had to come up with alternative ways to do
- 11:31Speaker 2: what we do. And I think that was really one
- 11:36Speaker 2: of the turning points in my life because it gave
- 11:39Speaker 2: me a lot of opportunity to really focus on the
- 11:42Speaker 2: things that I wanted to do. I was able to
- 11:43Speaker 2: walk away from a job and to do the things
- 11:47Speaker 2: that I'm doing full time. So it's not just a
- 11:51Speaker 2: a passion, it's not just it's my livelihood. And I
- 11:56Speaker 2: thank God for allowing me to have these gifts and
- 11:59Speaker 2: teal that I'm able to, you know, not just benefit myself,
- 12:04Speaker 2: but I'm able to share it with other people and
- 12:07Speaker 2: to help other people position themselves to align with that
- 12:10Speaker 2: that they've been you know, ordained for. We had the
- 12:13Speaker 2: opportunity and the pleasure to be inside of Times Square
- 12:19Speaker 2: featured on the billboard. We were on every hour of
- 12:22Speaker 2: the hour. You saw us pop up on that screen,
- 12:24Speaker 2: and I tell you it was definitely an amazing time.
- 12:29Speaker 2: A lot of us we never thought that we would
- 12:31Speaker 2: be in in this moment doing the things that we do.
- 12:36Speaker 2: But I am grateful. And our first guest that's coming up,
- 12:41Speaker 2: our guest poet, y'all. She's the youngest poet in our anthology.
- 12:47Speaker 2: At eleven years old. She's already making a name for herself.
- 12:51Speaker 2: She's already doing some amazing things. I tell you when
- 12:55Speaker 2: when she say eleven years old, I'm like thirty four,
- 12:59Speaker 2: thirty five years old, because she definitely has an old
- 13:02Speaker 2: spirit and she definitely it's very intelligent, and she just
- 13:09Speaker 2: keeps doing amazing things. And I'm just so excited that
- 13:14Speaker 2: she allowed her voice to speak. Sometimes we don't even
- 13:18Speaker 2: you know, reference our babies and and and and allow them.
- 13:22Speaker 2: We wait until they get older and want them to
- 13:25Speaker 2: do things. But I'm grateful for the ones that would
- 13:29Speaker 2: push their babies to to chase after their dreams at
- 13:32Speaker 2: such a young age. So, without further ado, I would
- 13:36Speaker 2: like to bring Anaya grimball. Hey Anaya are you there? Yes? Hey, Gara,
- 13:49Speaker 2: how are you good? So you're gonna tell us a
- 13:55Speaker 2: little bit about Anaya.
- 14:03Speaker 4: I don't know. And my favorite.
- 14:08Speaker 9: And I just started kill like.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Writing calm.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Wow, So what what? Why did you decide to get
- 14:20Speaker 2: involved in poetry and and write poetry.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Because some poetry that.
- 14:28Speaker 9: And it inspires me someone to make other people inspired
- 14:35Speaker 9: and try other things that save myself.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Wow. So do you have a piece for us today?
- 14:46Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 14:47Speaker 2: Would you like to share it?
- 14:53Speaker 4: Friendship?
- 14:55Speaker 9: Okay, whenever you feel alone or not so, friends will
- 15:01Speaker 9: come to you to take away with gods. So make
- 15:05Speaker 9: me feel like a friend and turn from upside down.
- 15:08Speaker 9: You can always count on your friends either when they.
- 15:11Speaker 10: Are on this.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Wow. Wow, Now that was nice. That was nice because
- 15:21Speaker 2: to be a friend, it is the word tells us
- 15:25Speaker 2: that we have to we have to be a friend
- 15:28Speaker 2: to find a friend. I think and I'm paraphrasing, y'all,
- 15:30Speaker 2: so don't don't quote me on it, but it's over there.
- 15:32Speaker 2: The Bible speak about friends, y'all. It speaks about friends.
- 15:37Speaker 2: So I am. I love that poem. So snap, Snap
- 15:41Speaker 2: for your girl. What made you want to be a
- 15:46Speaker 2: part of this anathology? What made you want to be
- 15:52Speaker 2: a part of this number one new release anathology?
- 16:03Speaker 4: Especially when this young I would have thought, I would
- 16:07Speaker 4: have never thought.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Wow, and she was on the billboard inside of New
- 16:19Speaker 2: York Times Square. Y'all, I tell you, it is truly
- 16:23Speaker 2: an honor to know you, Anaya and Eva Zach. Do
- 16:31Speaker 2: y'all have anything that y'a would like to say to Anaya?
- 16:35Speaker 6: I I keep on writing, man, I have I have
- 16:43Speaker 6: been the person around your age Feve years old when
- 16:46Speaker 6: I thought of writing.
- 16:48Speaker 4: But tell you, as you keep.
- 16:49Speaker 6: On writing, tell you one day your your writing will come.
- 16:55Speaker 4: It will touch somebody, even though it has.
- 16:57Speaker 5: To cut somebody else today from here, But God, God, Alia,
- 17:01Speaker 5: you look back.
- 17:02Speaker 2: You can be like, yeah I.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Did bad, Yeah, yeah, I'd been bad to that day.
- 17:07Speaker 4: But I keep writing. I am so proud of you,
- 17:10Speaker 4: and you don't know how many people that's wept touched.
- 17:14Speaker 4: What your call profess That means alive now easy thing,
- 17:20Speaker 4: wait and keep doing your job.
- 17:23Speaker 6: I love you, Thank you A yeah, I want yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 6: I wanted to say the same thing.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Encourage you to keep writing.
- 17:34Speaker 5: These are all stepping stones to things that will happen
- 17:37Speaker 5: in your life later, things that you don't even know about,
- 17:40Speaker 5: and you'll be able to pull back on this resource
- 17:43Speaker 5: and see what you can use to help you move
- 17:46Speaker 5: forward as as you move forward in life.
- 17:49Speaker 4: So we're so honored and proud to have you with
- 17:53Speaker 4: us at your age and doing these amazing things.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Amen, Amen, Anaya, We thank you. I know it's probably
- 18:01Speaker 2: past your bedtime, so we thank you for stopping by
- 18:05Speaker 2: and sharing with us, and we want you to know
- 18:07Speaker 2: that we thank you for being a part of this
- 18:10Speaker 2: anthology and allowing your words to speak. Hopefully you have
- 18:13Speaker 2: encouraged someone else your age to do the same, So
- 18:16Speaker 2: we want you to keep reaching for the stars and
- 18:19Speaker 2: keep letting your light shine. You have a good night, sweetie.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Next stuff, we have Cheryl Northern Legrand. I tell you
- 18:33Speaker 2: I kind of pushed this lady. She said, I pushed
- 18:37Speaker 2: her over the cliff, but I kind of pushed her
- 18:40Speaker 2: because she's been a part of several things that I've done.
- 18:43Speaker 2: She never wrote poetry before, and I encouraged her to
- 18:47Speaker 2: write in a series, a couple of series before this,
- 18:51Speaker 2: and I tell you when she began to write, she
- 18:54Speaker 2: can't stop because we got another series that's coming up
- 18:57Speaker 2: and she is definitely a part of it. Without further ado,
- 19:01Speaker 2: we got to bring to the Mike Chryl Northern Love.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Are you.
- 19:15Speaker 2: We are fine?
- 19:19Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 19:21Speaker 2: So if you would please introduce yourself.
- 19:29Speaker 5: And Angel, my beautiful queen. My name is Chel was
- 19:34Speaker 5: in the Grand I'm originally from Jersey. I live in Nightdale,
- 19:38Speaker 5: North Carolina.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Now.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Also I'm a Champions survivor with Loopers and Hawk Failure
- 19:45Speaker 5: over fifteen years. And yes, since Angel, I've been a
- 19:48Speaker 5: several projects, podcasts, and yes, she always pushed me over
- 19:53Speaker 5: the clip, but it's been truly a blessing. It's been
- 19:56Speaker 5: called transformation. So I'm I'm a and I'm grateful that
- 20:02Speaker 5: she finds time to not only push me.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Over the cliff of so many others.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Hey, man, if you would please share a piece with
- 20:10Speaker 2: us tonight.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Yes, this is called remember me. I am a strong
- 20:17Speaker 5: woman with shape that has been transformed in shape through
- 20:22Speaker 5: my cribs and tears and fears, time.
- 20:26Speaker 4: To courage and strength and happiness.
- 20:28Speaker 5: And even in the middle of the storm, when the
- 20:31Speaker 5: wind was blowing and the trees were falling and I
- 20:34Speaker 5: felt weak and was all over the place, I kept
- 20:38Speaker 5: pushing and going and putting on a strong face.
- 20:42Speaker 4: I kept putting on a fall or.
- 20:44Speaker 5: This is why in the middle of any type of situation,
- 20:48Speaker 5: it's easy to me to walk away.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Remember a strong woman.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Wow. Wow, that's that piece, that's that peace. Wow. So
- 21:04Speaker 2: this is National Poetry Awareness one. What made you choose poetry?
- 21:14Speaker 5: Thank you?
- 21:20Speaker 2: That is somebody. Look, I can't control outside they out
- 21:24Speaker 2: there doing they shooting or whatever they're doing. I can't
- 21:28Speaker 2: control that.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Okay, I can't. That's fine, Okay. What made me do poetry?
- 21:42Speaker 5: Because it brings out the er you, It.
- 21:45Speaker 6: Brings out something inside of you. Yes, I'm an author,
- 21:49Speaker 6: but you know it's diversity, it's love, it's exploration, and
- 21:54Speaker 6: it's motivation. So because it's a challenge, one thing I
- 21:57Speaker 6: could tell anyone who's listening, you can't conform or transform
- 22:02Speaker 6: if you're always comfortable.
- 22:04Speaker 4: You always have stuff for me.
- 22:06Speaker 5: I'm fortunately put me into another level because I was
- 22:10Speaker 5: used to just being on a podcast and they had
- 22:13Speaker 5: you any core sense or you know, when you write
- 22:15Speaker 5: a book, you can go over and over, But do
- 22:18Speaker 5: our poetry push me into another level?
- 22:20Speaker 4: You know?
- 22:21Speaker 5: With my mind it transformed me where it said, okay,
- 22:25Speaker 5: guess what you.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Can do this?
- 22:26Speaker 5: And that's what it's all about is stepping out of
- 22:28Speaker 5: your comfort zone so God can use you in different
- 22:32Speaker 5: areas because when we stay comfortable, we go nowhere.
- 22:35Speaker 2: But when we get.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Out of our comfort zone, we can go many places.
- 22:39Speaker 5: And we can help other people and votistate them and
- 22:41Speaker 5: let them know through all things, through clite all things
- 22:44Speaker 5: about them.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Amen. Amen, Well, if you can hang around, we want
- 22:48Speaker 2: you to hang around. After our last guest comes on
- 22:52Speaker 2: and share, we're gonna open up those lines and we're
- 22:54Speaker 2: gonna have conversation with those that are calling in. So
- 22:57Speaker 2: if you want to hang around, please hang out around
- 23:00Speaker 2: and be a part of that conversation tonight. Thank you,
- 23:06Speaker 2: Thank you. Our next poet is Miss Glendoria. Miss Glendora,
- 23:18Speaker 2: are you there?
- 23:20Speaker 4: Yes, I am. Can you hear me?
- 23:22Speaker 2: I can hear you? Now? How are you?
- 23:27Speaker 5: Thank you so much?
- 23:28Speaker 4: Thank you so much for this show. Thank you for
- 23:31Speaker 4: having me on the show.
- 23:32Speaker 5: I am just so honored to be here. And then
- 23:35Speaker 5: happy birthday again to you.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Because you are an awesome woman of God. And so
- 23:41Speaker 4: I'm just thrilled to be here to listen.
- 23:44Speaker 6: All be wonderful people, all be wonderful poets, be correct.
- 23:48Speaker 5: That share their share their points. So it's a pleasure
- 23:54Speaker 5: and I love I love you.
- 23:56Speaker 4: So I love listening to uh everyone, to everyone's work.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I am Ndoria, so it's a boy, and I am
- 24:08Speaker 4: an author.
- 24:09Speaker 5: I'm a boy. I'm a minister for God. I do
- 24:16Speaker 5: all kinds of things. I wear many many hats. Like
- 24:18Speaker 5: I heard someone say earlier. I think it was Abel
- 24:21Speaker 5: who says you wear so many hats. But at any rate,
- 24:25Speaker 5: that's what I do. I'm always doing something. I'm always working,
- 24:29Speaker 5: I'm always writing, and I'm always thinking. I'm the kind
- 24:32Speaker 5: of person who turns the TV off because I have
- 24:36Speaker 5: enough going on in my head that I don't need
- 24:38Speaker 5: to watch TV, if you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 5: So anyway, I'm just so honest to be here. And
- 24:45Speaker 5: I just want to give a shout out to that
- 24:48Speaker 5: bill board that was in New York City Times Queer.
- 24:52Speaker 5: I mean, wow, I always knew I was gonna see
- 24:55Speaker 5: my name in it like one day, and Angela, miss
- 24:57Speaker 5: Queen Angela, you get that for me.
- 25:00Speaker 4: So I am just so excited about that.
- 25:02Speaker 7: God bless you.
- 25:04Speaker 5: I do have a poem here. It's a little different
- 25:06Speaker 5: from the poem that I've heard. I wrote his poem
- 25:11Speaker 5: for well because of my granddaughter. She was a teenager
- 25:17Speaker 5: at the time and I had the responsibility of raising.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Her, so I wrote this poem to her. I was
- 25:26Speaker 4: talking to God in this point, but I was writing
- 25:30Speaker 4: about my granddaughter. So if you guys are ready.
- 25:32Speaker 7: I love to share it with you.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yes, please, yes, okay.
- 25:39Speaker 4: This poem is called a Grandmother's Please.
- 25:44Speaker 5: I'm talking to God. This little girl makes me so sick. Lord,
- 25:50Speaker 5: I raised my children, so what can't I quit? Why
- 25:54Speaker 5: must I be responsible for this child? This little girl
- 25:57Speaker 5: is just too damn wild. All he ever does is
- 26:02Speaker 5: stand about, and whenever she speaks, she's cursing me out.
- 26:06Speaker 5: She's filling and sadly a little misknow it all. But
- 26:10Speaker 5: in times of trouble rest what she calls trying to
- 26:14Speaker 5: reason with her is like reasoning with a bridge. Before
- 26:18Speaker 5: I opened my mouth, snaps me up real quick. She
- 26:22Speaker 5: hurts my feelings feelings and doesn't even care. I just
- 26:26Speaker 5: shake my head and quietly say a prayer. He's always
- 26:30Speaker 5: has an attitude, He's always in some unpleasant moves. Her
- 26:35Speaker 5: counselans is always bad. Ain't nothing wrong, Lord, she just
- 26:40Speaker 5: wants me to feel bad. Why, Lord, what have I
- 26:44Speaker 5: ever done? Does she blame me for the iniquities of
- 26:48Speaker 5: my son? Does she blame me for her abstenity mother
- 26:52Speaker 5: who set her away and kept her brothers? I wonder
- 26:55Speaker 5: what's going on in this child's mind? And why does
- 26:59Speaker 5: she because her Sometimes? Lord, I know you have a
- 27:03Speaker 5: sense of humor and sometimes pray. But to tell you
- 27:06Speaker 5: the truth, I'm old and grave. I don't feel like
- 27:10Speaker 5: no more life. I want to enjoy the rest of
- 27:13Speaker 5: my life. I don't feel like no more tears. I
- 27:17Speaker 5: want you to be happy in my declining years. So
- 27:21Speaker 5: I asked you, Lord, what am I to do? Then
- 27:25Speaker 5: I heard him say, I gave this thout you to
- 27:28Speaker 5: give this child a stable home. To teach this child
- 27:32Speaker 5: rights and wrong, To teach this child what my words say,
- 27:37Speaker 5: To teach this child, to kneel and pray, to teach
- 27:40Speaker 5: this child through her heartbreak, to call on me and
- 27:44Speaker 5: exercise her faith to teach this child. With all else fails.
- 27:48Speaker 5: She has a guy who loves her and one who cares.
- 27:52Speaker 5: Guess I gave this child to you and your old
- 27:55Speaker 5: age because now you're full of grapes and not a rage.
- 28:00Speaker 5: I want to keep this child from the lion.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Stands and away from the christ of tins.
- 28:07Speaker 5: And I know you're the one to give to God God,
- 28:10Speaker 5: So I tell you, Grandma.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Wow, wow, nice, nice, nice nice. I want to thank
- 28:21Speaker 2: you for sharing that peace. Thank you for stopping by

- 29:22Speaker 5: yet I always feel at home. She's always made me
- 29:24Speaker 5: feel a home. I write poetry. I've been writing since

- 29:38Speaker 5: At that young tender age.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Right now, I just believed a new journal.
- 29:45Speaker 11: It is called Life the Vision, and they could playing
- 29:48Speaker 11: because a journal of affirmation and positive quotes, but it

- 35:27Speaker 11: a lion, the strength of a warrior to fight and
- 35:31Speaker 11: stand your ground. You had carried the weights up the
- 35:34Speaker 11: borough on your shoulders, and it was pound to shed
- 35:38Speaker 11: those pounds. The battle may not be may have been
- 35:43Speaker 11: bigger for your blessings, or stronger because you knew there
- 35:49Speaker 11: was a new journey awaiting. Nothing that no one can
- 35:53Speaker 11: obstrust your journeys along the path to ravel.

- 37:56Speaker 2: So if you would just share a little bit about
- 37:59Speaker 2: yourself and your journey to becoming a poet, certainly so I'm.
- 38:07Speaker 5: Taking me the diamond it well, I am. The founds
- 38:14Speaker 5: are raisingly crown. I am a newly certified life coach
- 38:21Speaker 5: and author of the group Sea Stars, and I got.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Into poetry.
- 38:28Speaker 5: During my healing journey. And I was drawn to poetry
- 38:34Speaker 5: because much like healing, it's not linear, so one line
- 38:39Speaker 5: can be told you and so healing is different for
- 38:44Speaker 5: everyone as well. And with poetry you're able to just
- 38:48Speaker 5: sitt your words out in different ways. So that's what
- 38:53Speaker 5: drew me to poetry.
- 38:54Speaker 7: And the clan.
- 38:58Speaker 2: So do you have a piece for us tonight?
- 39:01Speaker 5: I do these things actually come from my books PUPLEI
- 39:06Speaker 5: guards because coordination and it goes. The fire has died
- 39:12Speaker 5: down and the smoke has fed on tears. I am
- 39:16Speaker 5: standing in the place.
- 39:18Speaker 4: That I want so greatly feared. I look at my
- 39:21Speaker 4: hands and I see the scars.
- 39:23Speaker 5: Are still there, but they no longer tell a story
- 39:27Speaker 5: of shame or despair. They are instant gold. They are
- 39:31Speaker 5: tools in my skin. The maples of battles that I
- 39:35Speaker 5: had to win, I am no.
- 39:37Speaker 4: Longer the buildings that was tattered and torn. I am new.
- 39:42Speaker 4: I am the new creator. The queens who's been were born.
- 39:46Speaker 4: The throne was always waiting, but I had to find
- 39:49Speaker 4: my way. I had to line to battles what the
- 39:52Speaker 4: father had to say.
- 39:54Speaker 5: I've traded to ask you for a crown.
- 39:56Speaker 7: That it just right.
- 39:58Speaker 5: I stepped out of the shadow into his marvelous life.
- 40:02Speaker 5: My walk is different now. By hell by hand is
- 40:05Speaker 5: hell high. I no longer have to wonder or ask
- 40:09Speaker 5: the world why I am the guns resigned and sit
- 40:14Speaker 5: free the woman that God has always And so I
- 40:19Speaker 5: sit on my bone.
- 40:20Speaker 4: And I take of faith, be covered in mercy and
- 40:24Speaker 4: driven and grace. So the women still.
- 40:26Speaker 5: Watching through the wares are.
- 40:29Speaker 4: The fire, your scars or your glory.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Your life is your hiding.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Don't you dare?
- 40:35Speaker 5: Lay down?
- 40:36Speaker 4: Don't you dare?
- 40:36Speaker 5: If your beings this is just the place where your
- 40:40Speaker 5: rain begins. The journey is finished to be through your wan.
- 40:45Speaker 5: Look at which the.
- 40:46Speaker 13: Lord I do.

- 41:06Speaker 2: those that are tuned in to calling in and interact
- 41:10Speaker 2: with these amazing poets. And then we're gonna give them

- 41:58Speaker 2: and tell tell it because she I can't tell it
- 42:01Speaker 2: like she can tell it. So come on Monica and

- 42:10Speaker 11: Yes, everyone, my name is Monica Reeese and my pen
- 42:17Speaker 11: name is mon Reeve.
- 42:20Speaker 4: Basically the first three letters my first name and the
- 42:23Speaker 4: verse three of.
- 42:24Speaker 2: My last See how I messed it up.

- 43:03Speaker 11: Thick up anger, issues, hurt you everything. Everything that I
- 43:11Speaker 11: can't say to people, I can write in the pride
- 43:13Speaker 11: of my poetry.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Wow, So you how long have you been on this
- 43:23Speaker 2: journey as a poet?
- 43:28Speaker 4: I started.
- 43:30Speaker 11: I started writing poetry in high school as a result
- 43:34Speaker 11: to a very abusive relationship that I was in and
- 43:39Speaker 11: I needed an outlet and as they were so control
- 43:44Speaker 11: them that I couldn't talk to anyone with that.
- 43:51Speaker 4: So I started to write.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Wow.
- 43:55Speaker 4: And that's when I That's when I got.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Thought, So, do you have a piece for ascenati?
- 44:06Speaker 5: Yes? I do.
- 44:10Speaker 4: It's called Black is.
- 44:14Speaker 11: Black is not just beautiful, Black is intelligence, Black is creativity,
- 44:19Speaker 11: Black is bold, Black is you black as me, Black
- 44:23Speaker 11: is earth, Black is weak.
- 44:27Speaker 4: Black is the darkness that's you need night him.
- 44:30Speaker 12: To tea.
- 44:32Speaker 11: Black is what all people in some way are anothers
- 44:34Speaker 11: pride to be Black is confusing, mixed with peace, mixed
- 44:40Speaker 11: with gloves, mixed with hate, mixed with longevity.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Black is a struggle. Black is a strength. Like it's cold,
- 44:49Speaker 4: like ice like, it's hot black, fire like is what
- 44:52Speaker 4: everyone desires.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Excuse me, Wow, that's nice. That's nice, Monica. I tell
- 45:04Speaker 2: you I have I've been knowing Monica for a little
- 45:09Speaker 2: over what four years now, and I tell you we
- 45:14Speaker 2: have been We have experienced some things together. Loss has
- 45:18Speaker 2: been one of those things. And just being able to,
- 45:23Speaker 2: you know, be there for each other and you know,
- 45:26Speaker 2: utilize our poetry and in different things, because she has
- 45:29Speaker 2: wrote in several anthologies that I've put out, just being
- 45:34Speaker 2: able to release some of the things that sometime we
- 45:38Speaker 2: carry but we don't want to tell the world, so
- 45:43Speaker 2: sometime we just release it in writing. Writing has been
- 45:46Speaker 2: one of those things that have brought me a lot
- 45:48Speaker 2: of comfort because this journey hasn't been easy. But I
- 45:52Speaker 2: thank God that he gave us all an outlet and
- 45:56Speaker 2: the outlet that he's given us a gift and a talent.
- 46:00Speaker 2: It has brought a lot of us together to be
- 46:02Speaker 2: able to share and and to be able to make

- 1:22:23Speaker 2: on tonight. I'm gonna close out with the poem on tonight,
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: and it's entitled Rise Beyond the silence, in the hush
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: of hidden battlefields, beyond the polished smiles, we carry burdens,
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: burdens heavy, hold them, cradle them, walk the miles. Days
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: when hope it's just a whisper, Nights when tears baptized,
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: the sheets silent wars, within the shadows, invisible wounds, repeat
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: the beats. We are stitched with threads of courage, though
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: the world may be overlooked, looking the trembling hands, the tide, laughter,
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: the effort that it looks, the face, the stigma we wear, labels,
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: questions if we are truly seen. Long for spaces grace,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: embracing where our souls can dare to dream. Some days
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: the air feel heavy, thick, as memories claw and fears ignite,
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: But the darkest, wildest valleys, a flicker rises, a flicker
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: of light, community, hands that reach out and whold eyes
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: that soften hearts and see, we are not We are
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: not an island, hold and strattered, but threads of woven tempest.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: Let us speak of wounds and healing removes the shame
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: on cage to fight. The journey's real and hard and holy,
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: and every story shines a light. No more silence, no
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: more pretending that compassion lead the way. For every soul
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: that bruised and bended, may we make a safer day.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: Recovering is not a straight line, but where every step
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: we grow, we rise, we stumble, we rise again more
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: than we come to know. Together we're mighty rivers, flowing
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: stronger side by side and the sea of shared believing.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: There's no shame and none to hide. So let's lift
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: the loss and hurting, build a bridge with open arms.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: For every trial, there is triumph in the community. There
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: is calm, raise awareness, raise each other, Let hope, echo,
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: pure and free, for we are conquerors day by day
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: and strength and love and unity. And that's that peace again.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: I thank you guys for joining us. I will be
