- 0:05Speaker 1: Now, look, I know it's been a while, but you've
- 0:10Speaker 1: really let yourself go.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Let me.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm pretty we might be able to get visuals of this,
- 0:19Speaker 1: but if I can give you a bit of a
- 0:22Speaker 1: description of what Paul's wearing, I'm going to put it on. Yeah,
- 0:31Speaker 1: he's got his creamy white arms out. He has well
- 0:36Speaker 1: I want to say it's like the old school blue
- 0:38Speaker 1: singlet slash wife beater, but it more looks like with
- 0:41Speaker 1: those man tits, it looks like Donna's crop top. Literally
- 0:47Speaker 1: have a nipple hanging out the side of your arm.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I'm like, when did you get whoopy Goldberg tits?
- 0:56Speaker 2: I do have an explanation. So firstly, you've got to
- 1:01Speaker 2: driving a land cruise a seventies series, so obviously. But secondly,
- 1:06Speaker 2: I actually had to have some surgery on my chest.
- 1:08Speaker 1: So did you get light perception.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Reast reduction about It's still fun though.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah, trust me, from this point you've still got lots
- 1:25Speaker 1: left our fine bags. Yeah right, okay, anyway, good break,
- 1:35Speaker 1: good good times. Yeah, things were good. Things have had
- 1:38Speaker 1: a good break went all round. Jesus bloody clocked up
- 1:41Speaker 1: the Cays on the c barrow our back.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah, did you do some nice sort of hiking. And
- 1:48Speaker 2: what else does siverery drivers do?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Well?
- 1:50Speaker 2: We cut some stuff with scissors.
- 1:57Speaker 1: My road trip, Missy Higgins got to run the.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Playlist bet repeat.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah, the rebeat and Sisters is good. I don't believe
- 2:09Speaker 1: lack dancing. I know there's any or whatever.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It's your economy been Like, I'm interested because my father
- 2:16Speaker 2: and Laura told him to get an outpack and he
- 2:18Speaker 2: got the non turbo. But I'm curious to know where
- 2:21Speaker 2: you're sitting. They do a bit of towering and stuff
- 2:23Speaker 2: like that.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Okay, interesting point you bring that up, because when I
- 2:26Speaker 1: did the when I had the test the car, the
- 2:31Speaker 1: fuel economy fuel economy was sitting in about ten liters per
- 2:35Speaker 1: hundred k's. So this now, given I hadn't done really
- 2:41Speaker 1: much highway driving before this road trip, so the first
- 2:44Speaker 1: three thousand k's have been getting to work them back,
- 2:47Speaker 1: which is about twelve k's. So I was averaging no
- 2:50Speaker 1: shit like seventeen leaders per hundred k's and then yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 1: and then when I was filling up, it was like
- 2:58Speaker 1: it was saying I was getting I was getting. You
- 3:00Speaker 1: know how it tells you how many CA's you'll get
- 3:02Speaker 1: from a full tank. It was saying like two hundred
- 3:04Speaker 1: and eighty, and then I think it was yeah, and
- 3:07Speaker 1: then it rounded up to like maybe I think it
- 3:08Speaker 1: got to about three point twenty at one point, and
- 3:11Speaker 1: so I rang up my guy down there and actually
- 3:15Speaker 1: I rang up super U and he's like, oh, yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 1: do you have a bit of a lead foot. I'm like, mate,
- 3:20Speaker 1: if I took this to fucking colder park, I couldn't
- 3:24Speaker 1: get up to seventeen liters.
- 3:26Speaker 3: So that's true, Yeah, that's true, or yeah, you should
- 3:30Speaker 3: bring it in. I was like, oh fuck, I can't
- 3:31Speaker 3: be fucked. I cannot be fucked bring in this car.
- 3:34Speaker 3: And I don't have the time this time of the year.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I thought to myself, I'm planning this road trip. I'm
- 3:38Speaker 3: doing a lot of k's in it. Hopefully it's going
- 3:40Speaker 3: to go down by then anyway, and you know, you
- 3:42Speaker 3: do the kind of reset on it and stuff like that.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I managed to get it down to about after a
- 3:50Speaker 1: lot of highway driving, about eight liters.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I think's pretty good.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Well, it was still like eight point something, let's say
- 3:58Speaker 1: eight point five, right, I've been back for like a
- 4:02Speaker 1: week or two, and it's crept up to about ten something,
- 4:06Speaker 1: but it doesn't seem right because at first I thought
- 4:09Speaker 1: I reckon, they'd calibrated it wrong. Almost. I was like,
- 4:11Speaker 1: it's almost like this thing's doing it in miles instead
- 4:13Speaker 1: of kilometers. It was so weird, but it was yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 1: it was shitouse, it was shocking. They were just like, yeah,
- 4:20Speaker 1: bring it in, bring it in. Actually, you know, one
- 4:22Speaker 1: thing did happen to me. I was out in a
- 4:24Speaker 1: place called crowdy Head. I bet it was yeah, and
- 4:30Speaker 1: head is not that great in Crowdy Head, I can
- 4:32Speaker 1: tell you right now. But so, it was a reasonably
- 4:35Speaker 1: hot day. It was like thirty degrees and I unlocked
- 4:39Speaker 1: the car. The electronics sort of unlocked it and stuff,
- 4:43Speaker 1: so it sort of let me in, but the car
- 4:44Speaker 1: wouldn't start, and I was like, what the what the fuck?
- 4:48Speaker 1: And it wouldn't start, and so after I was just like,
- 4:50Speaker 1: this isn't happening at all. So I took the secret
- 4:54Speaker 1: emergency key thing out of the clip, I unlocked it
- 4:57Speaker 1: like that and sort of reset it because it wouldn't
- 4:59Speaker 1: even turn and the electrics off. And I called Siparu
- 5:02Speaker 1: and they're like, yeah, it was. It was pretty hot.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It was like thirty degrees I'm like, mate, your car's
- 5:08Speaker 1: literally fucking called outback. It's thirty degrees mate, it ain't
- 5:14Speaker 1: that hot. So yeah, believe it's sort of like bring
- 5:17Speaker 1: it in, bring it in. But look otherwise it's fun.
- 5:20Speaker 2: It sounds great.
- 5:20Speaker 1: It sounds great. Half, No, I I generally like it.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It's look teething issues, mate's teething issues.
- 5:26Speaker 2: But it sounds very annoying.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Did your father in law have problems with it?
- 5:31Speaker 2: No, they've had no dramas with theirs. There is non turbo.
- 5:36Speaker 2: They do a favorit of towing and stuff, so there
- 5:38Speaker 2: has been perfectly fine. And they've got no idea how
- 5:40Speaker 2: to use any of the features. So from that point
- 5:43Speaker 2: of view, it's been all good.
- 5:44Speaker 1: But did you say features You mean the Apple gar play.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Literally, he didn't know it had it until I showed
- 5:51Speaker 2: him the other week, and he's had the car for
- 5:53Speaker 2: like two years.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's a wireless too.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Look, the fuel economy is a bit odd, the heating
- 5:59Speaker 1: thing is a bit strange. I'll get them checked out
- 6:02Speaker 1: and I'll keep you updated. But look, I have to
- 6:04Speaker 1: say as a highway car, it's still one of the best. Like,
- 6:06Speaker 1: it's such a great highway car. The adaptive cruise control
- 6:10Speaker 1: is amazing on it. We went up to Port mcquarie,
- 6:13Speaker 1: fuck and hell, I know you bought your Ranger from
- 6:16Speaker 1: that joint, but Port mcquarie and I got a few
- 6:19Speaker 1: listeners of this show comment going, oh, how bloody goods
- 6:22Speaker 1: Port mcquarie, Paul mcquarie is like a giant retirement village
- 6:28Speaker 1: for fat old people. It's a craze for fat old
- 6:32Speaker 1: people and everyone goes at this really annoying slow speed.
- 6:38Speaker 1: It's like it's sort of not quite slow enough to
- 6:42Speaker 1: toot and get out of the way, but it's almost,
- 6:44Speaker 1: but it's very much a speed where it's like can
- 6:46Speaker 1: we can we get a move on?
- 6:48Speaker 2: It's you. I don't like your city slickers around there, Champion.
- 6:53Speaker 4: No ungine too much of a Harry and Port mcquarie.
- 7:00Speaker 5: I like, but no, you know, the thing I thought
- 7:03Speaker 5: was strange about Port mcquarie, the RSL was great that
- 7:07Speaker 5: there's like a little cafe on the water as well,
- 7:10Speaker 5: which is really nice too.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Are you talking about are you talking about Settlement city?
- 7:15Speaker 1: You're talking about Yeah, you're talking about Panthers only the
- 7:17Speaker 1: one and there's a there's a little bar sort of
- 7:20Speaker 1: thing on the right, Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds about right. But I thought it was
- 7:24Speaker 2: odd because there's like a lot of petrol stations, a
- 7:27Speaker 2: lot of car dealerships for a city that's really not
- 7:30Speaker 2: that big. I just it baffles me how there is
- 7:33Speaker 2: so much economic activity. So they must have all just
- 7:37Speaker 2: had a lot of disposable income that they're spending money on.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But I don't know, it's just really fascinating to me.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I think it's very much of a hub of what's
- 7:45Speaker 1: around it too, because if you kind of look at
- 7:47Speaker 1: anywhere from say Tari and then you go north of
- 7:50Speaker 1: Port mcquarie, which would be fucking who knows, it sort
- 7:54Speaker 1: of feels like a bit of a oh maybe because
- 7:56Speaker 1: it coughs harbor, I don't know, but it feels like
- 7:58Speaker 1: a bit of a hub catching yeah, between everything in between.
- 8:03Speaker 1: So yeah, you're right though, you'll get like the big
- 8:05Speaker 1: Bunnings and you'll get all the car dealerships. And I
- 8:09Speaker 1: spent New Year's Eve there too.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Wow did your party like it was nineteen eighty six? Yeah?
- 8:15Speaker 1: My resolution was do not have New Year's Eve here again?
- 8:22Speaker 1: But yeah, did you go away?
- 8:25Speaker 2: No? No, not really.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I feel like with that singler when I say did
- 8:30Speaker 1: you go away? It's like talking about prison time.
- 8:35Speaker 2: It was just six months, you know. Yeah, so it
- 8:40Speaker 2: was fine.
- 8:41Speaker 1: You did appear on a list next to Trevor and
- 8:44Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein.
- 8:47Speaker 2: So I did have a fine fifty over Christmas. And
- 8:51Speaker 2: it's somewhat limited where I could go because it was
- 8:54Speaker 2: the long wheelbase and at six point three or four
- 8:56Speaker 2: meters long. It's sort of not as to annoy a
- 9:01Speaker 2: lot of people because every time I parked it, I
- 9:04Speaker 2: would be in someone's way, and often they were some
- 9:07Speaker 2: woke sort of Tesla driver that would take issue with
- 9:11Speaker 2: me driving that thing. But yeah, it kind of limited,
- 9:14Speaker 2: but for a long distance drive it was so great.
- 9:17Speaker 2: So did a lot of longer distance highway driving. And
- 9:20Speaker 2: I can see why Americans love them. They find fifty
- 9:22Speaker 2: is the best selling car in the States. And it's
- 9:25Speaker 2: not hard to see ryan.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Beast of a looking car, such a base like it's
- 9:30Speaker 1: got such a great presence about it. It's kit it
- 9:32Speaker 1: out well too, like that can't be ignored. I reckon
- 9:35Speaker 1: for a long time Americans are really sucked when it
- 9:37Speaker 1: comes to interior, but that cars kit it out really
- 9:39Speaker 1: well tech wise too.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they do a really good job with them. There's
- 9:42Speaker 2: a whole step of interesting stuff they've got on them,
- 9:44Speaker 2: but forward, I just don't know how they managed to
- 9:48Speaker 2: get doing this. But they had just stop selling them,
- 9:50Speaker 2: stop delivering them because there was a remanufacturing issue. So
- 9:54Speaker 2: basically the turbo hose was collapsing on itself and causing
- 9:58Speaker 2: the engine to go into limp mo. Then they just
- 10:00Speaker 2: had to stop delivering them. All these customers that were
- 10:02Speaker 2: expecting them just before Chrissy, we're told, nah, he could
- 10:07Speaker 2: come back later. So I know two guys that canceled
- 10:10Speaker 2: their orders, like, nah, fuck it, I'm not going to
- 10:12Speaker 2: wait any longer. I'll just go buy something else. So
- 10:15Speaker 2: I'm curious to if anyone's listening to this. If you
- 10:18Speaker 2: had fifty on order, have you kept the order based
- 10:22Speaker 2: on them sort of fucking everyone around, or are you
- 10:25Speaker 2: sort of looking for something else.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I wonder what the wait times are like on those now.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Well, yeah, exactly, so initially there was there was a
- 10:33Speaker 2: lot of white time, But I really don't know what
- 10:35Speaker 2: the situation is if they've started deliveries again, and if
- 10:38Speaker 2: they haven't, the wait time is just going to keep
- 10:40Speaker 2: growing because no one's actually getting any of their cars,
- 10:43Speaker 2: So I don't even know if they have a solution
- 10:45Speaker 2: to the problem. So, yeah, it's a it's a bloody
- 10:47Speaker 2: weird one.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Talk about a bloody weird one. He did a bloody
- 10:50Speaker 1: weird road trip with what's his name, Joe Achilles. Yes,
- 10:55Speaker 1: are you guys fucking what? I only brief it just
- 11:01Speaker 1: it was just a little fleing fling.
- 11:03Speaker 2: No, we did a road trip and it was it
- 11:06Speaker 2: was good fun and we meant to do a podcast
- 11:09Speaker 2: episode with with Joe and I think recall you were
- 11:12Speaker 2: a little sick, had the sniffles.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I had. I had the social media martis rest
- 11:22Speaker 1: in peace with Anyway, enough of that, Sorry for our
- 11:26Speaker 1: social activity is a bit low for for the next
- 11:28Speaker 1: couple of weeks anyway, not the point. Yeah, No, we
- 11:31Speaker 1: were supposed to do a little cute little episode with him.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Maybe we can get him on the zoom sometimes when
- 11:36Speaker 1: we're all together. Let's put him on the list, let's
- 11:38Speaker 1: put him on the guest list. Just before you get
- 11:41Speaker 1: into this, I think it's if you're going to do
- 11:44Speaker 1: a road trip, i'd say do it in style, especially
- 11:47Speaker 1: because the Melbourne to Sydney sitting to Melbourne trip, there's
- 11:51Speaker 1: some there's some great scenery and there's some good toilet stops,
- 11:54Speaker 1: but my point is do it in a in a
- 11:56Speaker 1: luxury car, like did you have that? Was it the
- 11:58Speaker 1: seven series?
- 11:59Speaker 2: It was the seven series. But I just want to
- 12:01Speaker 2: challenge your toilet stops because on the New South Wales side,
- 12:04Speaker 2: the toilets are all like long drops, which I think
- 12:07Speaker 2: is disgusting for a major highway. It's not like you're driving,
- 12:12Speaker 2: so if you need to pull over, drop it's when
- 12:16Speaker 2: you climb.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Is that a little like a little position that you
- 12:19Speaker 1: and did that? I'll tell you is what I've got
- 12:23Speaker 1: a long drop?
- 12:26Speaker 2: So it's it's when you need to go to the toilet.
- 12:29Speaker 2: You pull over and you can see the cubicle. It's
- 12:32Speaker 2: up on stairs and as you approach it, you have
- 12:35Speaker 2: this horrific smell and you're like, I wonder what that is.
- 12:38Speaker 2: You get inside the little cubicle, open the toilet lid
- 12:40Speaker 2: and it's just a hole that goes down to a
- 12:45Speaker 2: pile of shit and urine and that's the toilet. And
- 12:49Speaker 2: it's like, surely we are a little more civilized than
- 12:51Speaker 2: this on a major freeway.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Why didn't you go to a macasin or something?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Like that, I don't know where they are. I'm just driving.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I need to go to the toilet. I thought I'll
- 12:59Speaker 2: pull over, which I've done in Victoria there's actual toilets. Anyway,
- 13:02Speaker 2: one of them had a glory hold.
- 13:03Speaker 1: That I was did you pull over in that sieglet
- 13:08Speaker 1: You would have got planed right out.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But seriously, one of the cubicles. We'll get to the
- 13:13Speaker 2: road trip in a second. I'm sort of sitting there
- 13:15Speaker 2: looking at the cubicle. I'm like, what is that in
- 13:17Speaker 2: the wall? And it was a whole bunch of toilet
- 13:19Speaker 2: paper in a hole and I'm like, that is so.
- 13:23Speaker 2: And then I walked around to the next cubicle and
- 13:26Speaker 2: the hole went through to the other cubicle. I'm like, oh,
- 13:28Speaker 2: I see what this is. Anyway, so we did a
- 13:34Speaker 2: road trip from Melbourne to Sydney and the theory the
- 13:38Speaker 2: hypothesis was is it cheaper, specifically for a road trip
- 13:43Speaker 2: to drive a petrol car or an electric car? And
- 13:46Speaker 2: we did this at the end of last year because
- 13:49Speaker 2: we wanted to publish it with Christmas coming up and
- 13:52Speaker 2: everyone doing road trips if they had an electric car,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I wanted to show them what is the best thing
- 13:56Speaker 2: to do. So anyway, we picked the seven Series because
- 14:01Speaker 2: they sell a seven Series in petrol and also full electric,
- 14:05Speaker 2: so we wanted to have the same car as opposed
- 14:07Speaker 2: to just different cars. And of course we wanted to
- 14:11Speaker 2: not be bored to death, so I thought picked something nice.
- 14:14Speaker 2: So anyway, we left Hawthorne in Victoria. Both cars were
- 14:18Speaker 2: at one hundred percent and we wanted to drive to Tarcata,
- 14:21Speaker 2: which is the halfway point between Melbourne and Sydney, and
- 14:24Speaker 2: that's four hundred and fifty k's away.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Now, the car showed, can I just quickly pause you
- 14:29Speaker 1: there when you started that little road trip of yours?
- 14:32Speaker 1: And you so you started with a full charge and
- 14:36Speaker 1: did did Joe what you like to call, brim his tank?
- 14:42Speaker 2: He did? Now, right right to the to the rim.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. You've got to fucking stop saying. Oh, anyway,
- 14:48Speaker 1: so we brim the tank like you're something special. I've
- 14:51Speaker 1: thought about it. When I was filling up. I think
- 14:53Speaker 1: I was in Tarkata or try Fucker or wherever the
- 14:57Speaker 1: fuck I was. I'm like, you just fill it. Most
- 15:02Speaker 1: people fill it up till it clicks a couple of times.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Now, maybe you want a.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Little bit of extra juice and check a little bit
- 15:08Speaker 1: like why the tank.
- 15:12Speaker 2: No, it's when you bring it. You need to bring
- 15:15Speaker 2: the fuel until it is about to overflow, because if
- 15:19Speaker 2: you go to the first click, the clicking in the
- 15:22Speaker 2: hose is basically air coming back up the hose, and
- 15:25Speaker 2: when it's a texted it stops the flow. So you
- 15:28Speaker 2: can depending on density and how full your tank is,
- 15:32Speaker 2: it might click early. So you need to have a
- 15:34Speaker 2: visual indicator of where the fuel is, so that is
- 15:36Speaker 2: called brimming it. So anyway, we bringed a bit and
- 15:42Speaker 2: so tar cutters four hundred and fifty ks away and
- 15:45Speaker 2: the electric VMW showed the driving range of five and
- 15:49Speaker 2: fifty seven or something, and I thought, my drums will
- 15:51Speaker 2: piss it in. So anyway, we're driving along, and while
- 15:55Speaker 2: we're driving, we'll stopped for a rebreak at.
- 15:56Speaker 1: The place with the.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Whole and I've got a text message from one of
- 16:03Speaker 2: the girls at the office and she goes, oh, have
- 16:04Speaker 2: you had any issues with charging because the Optus networks down.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I'm like, it's been charged yet, but I assume it'll
- 16:11Speaker 2: be okay, and she goes, no, that EV network is down,
- 16:13Speaker 2: and that was the charger we needed to use in Tarcata,
- 16:16Speaker 2: and we were still about one hundred and fifty k's
- 16:18Speaker 2: from Tarkata. So I'm like, well, let's just keep going
- 16:20Speaker 2: and we'll see what happens when we get there. Anyway,
- 16:22Speaker 2: as we're getting closer, my range is like dropping rapidly,
- 16:26Speaker 2: and we get to Tarkata with two percent of battery
- 16:29Speaker 2: range left, and so the car had lost twenty percent
- 16:33Speaker 2: of its range effectively because it was going five hundred
- 16:36Speaker 2: and fifty to start with. And thankfully that charger was
- 16:39Speaker 2: working despite it being on the on the EV network.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And just just for those playing at home who want
- 16:45Speaker 2: a bit of a technical explanation about why an EV
- 16:48Speaker 2: does that. Basically, when you charge it to full, it
- 16:52Speaker 2: says it has a computer inside that says, well, my
- 16:55Speaker 2: program deficiency allows me to do five hundred and fifty
- 16:59Speaker 2: kilometers if it's driven within a typical drive and a
- 17:03Speaker 2: typical driver is how they certify these vehicles for their
- 17:06Speaker 2: driving range. So when you're driving on the freeway, there's
- 17:09Speaker 2: no real chance for region or a limited chance for
- 17:12Speaker 2: a region. In addition to that, there's an elevation change
- 17:15Speaker 2: between Melbourne and Tarkata, so you are predominantly driving uphill,
- 17:19Speaker 2: so effectively, instead of being in and around the city
- 17:21Speaker 2: where you're slowing down and speeding up, you're just driving uphill.
- 17:24Speaker 2: You're just using energy. So that is where you get
- 17:27Speaker 2: that energy reduction. But the good thing is that when
- 17:30Speaker 2: you get to Suton Forests down towards Sydney, it's predominantly
- 17:34Speaker 2: downhill because you're going from an elevation of six hundred
- 17:36Speaker 2: meters to zero and basically we're able to put twenty
- 17:39Speaker 2: kilo eight hours of energy back into the battery during
- 17:42Speaker 2: those descents. So it's got a long story short. We
- 17:46Speaker 2: got to Sydney, we brimmed the car again right up
- 17:50Speaker 2: to the rim, and basically found that it was cheaper
- 17:54Speaker 2: to do the road trip in a petrol car that
- 17:57Speaker 2: ended up costing almost twenty dollars less, and that was
- 18:00Speaker 2: ninety eight rong unleaded put into the BMW and fuel
- 18:04Speaker 2: was expensive as well as two dollars ten at the time.
- 18:07Speaker 2: And also it was a six minute phil as opposed
- 18:10Speaker 2: to two hours and eight minutes of sitting there charging.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So does that surprise you, Uh no, not really, it's
- 18:17Speaker 1: I mean I've sort of said it before, I think
- 18:19Speaker 1: anyone and fuck it go back and listen to any
- 18:22Speaker 1: of our John Kudogan episodes because he puts it brilliantly.
- 18:25Speaker 1: But if you think for one second, like one you're
- 18:30Speaker 1: buying an EV to save the planet and fucking reduce
- 18:32Speaker 1: your carbon foot prints and whatever, you're just not cheaper
- 18:35Speaker 1: running costs and all that sort of thing. I think
- 18:37Speaker 1: time and time again this is unless you have a
- 18:41Speaker 1: way to charge your car at home, you know, off
- 18:44Speaker 1: peak and all that sort of stuff, I think that's
- 18:45Speaker 1: probably the better way to do it. But oh, with Solar,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I think were I've always said, I think we're EV
- 18:49Speaker 1: stand right now in twenty twenty four are a commuter
- 18:52Speaker 1: car their grades to sort of commute around cities and
- 18:55Speaker 1: stuff like that. I would not want to do a
- 18:58Speaker 1: road trip in an EV, Like yeah, it's.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I'm totally with you on that, and look to be.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we're not there yet, Like you've just kind of
- 19:07Speaker 1: proved a point, like we're definitely not there yet where
- 19:09Speaker 1: we need to be in terms of like charging infrastructure,
- 19:13Speaker 1: Like the fuck A network went down and that was
- 19:17Speaker 1: putting things into disarray, do you know what I mean?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Like yeah, and look, the flip side is, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 2: if you're driving in and around the city, have solar
- 19:26Speaker 2: at home, and EV will always be cheaper than a
- 19:29Speaker 2: petrol car to run in those circumstances. And I think
- 19:33Speaker 2: that with the network going down, if you went to
- 19:34Speaker 2: a petrol station, you would have been able to put
- 19:36Speaker 2: fuel in your car, but you wouldn't have been able
- 19:38Speaker 2: to pay with their post and all that sort of stuff.
- 19:40Speaker 2: But you still could have paid with cash, which you
- 19:42Speaker 2: couldn't do at an EB charger. But the other thing
- 19:45Speaker 2: is that the charge right since we filmed this have
- 19:49Speaker 2: gone up by almost forty percent depending on what speed
- 19:52Speaker 2: you choose. And then I mean it is just going
- 19:56Speaker 2: In the history of electricity prices, they have never gone down.
- 19:59Speaker 2: And so anyone that thinks that when we move to
- 20:02Speaker 2: renewables and all this sort of stuff that electricity will
- 20:04Speaker 2: become cheaper, I mean they are absolutely kidding themselves. And
- 20:08Speaker 2: that's the case. It means you're charging it's going to
- 20:10Speaker 2: become more expensive. And then in addition to that, the
- 20:12Speaker 2: government currently takes forty five forty seven cents per letter
- 20:16Speaker 2: from petrol excise. So the second act disappears and we're
- 20:20Speaker 2: all driving around in evs. Guess who they're going to
- 20:22Speaker 2: come and start taxing, and that is everyone. So just
- 20:26Speaker 2: because you charge it at home, that I'm going to
- 20:28Speaker 2: let you get away with that. So yeah, look, I
- 20:31Speaker 2: think that it is an interesting one. What I did
- 20:33Speaker 2: find though, is that people get very triggered by this.
- 20:37Speaker 2: You either had the people that are just like, yeah,
- 20:39Speaker 2: I fucking told you evs are just shit. Everyone I
- 20:43Speaker 2: told you. So then you had the flip side, which
- 20:46Speaker 2: was people who love evs who were telling us about
- 20:49Speaker 2: everything we did wrong or everything they thought we did wrong,
- 20:53Speaker 2: to the point where some of the stuff was just fanciful.
- 20:56Speaker 2: They were like, oh, you should have stopped here, here, here,
- 20:58Speaker 2: and here, and it would have been cheap. And I'm like, yeah,
- 21:00Speaker 2: but I already wasted two hours and eight minutes charging
- 21:04Speaker 2: You want me to hour waste even more time going
- 21:06Speaker 2: off the freeway and going into some town because there's
- 21:09Speaker 2: some charger next to our hotel somewhere. Yeah, there's just
- 21:13Speaker 2: a lot of Yeah.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Also, this is a fucking simple road trip. This isn't
- 21:18Speaker 1: like some strategy plan where I'm trying to that'st find
- 21:21Speaker 1: clues like, yeah, we're not a road trip level for
- 21:24Speaker 1: this sort of stuff. Yet we're just not.
- 21:26Speaker 2: No, And look as an EV owner. When it came
- 21:28Speaker 2: to Christmas time, I had the fin fifty. I chose
- 21:32Speaker 2: to drive that everywhere we went because there is no
- 21:34Speaker 2: way I want to get stuck in a queue with
- 21:36Speaker 2: other people waiting to charge and all that sort of nonsense.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Even if I didn't have the Finn fifty, I would
- 21:41Speaker 2: have driven my Raptor. There's no way I would drive
- 21:43Speaker 2: an electric car during busy peak periods on longer road trips,
- 21:48Speaker 2: because it is just a recipe for disaster. That's what
- 21:51Speaker 2: my thought.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Hey, you know what did you find it to be
- 21:53Speaker 1: a smoother ride like? Because obviously it's an EV. I've
- 21:55Speaker 1: always said that evs and luxury cars just go together
- 22:00Speaker 1: so well, And to me, I reckon, that's at the moment,
- 22:02Speaker 1: at this point in time, that's where the EV market
- 22:05Speaker 1: is excelling. Is a luxury car game?
- 22:07Speaker 2: Well, look not really. I mean the seven was lovely.
- 22:10Speaker 2: It was really nice to drive. It was like thirty degrees.
- 22:12Speaker 2: We had the pulled seats running, air conditioner was cranked,
- 22:15Speaker 2: so it was all fine. But Joe and the seventh boardy,
- 22:18Speaker 2: I mean it's the same car. It weighs six hundred
- 22:21Speaker 2: kilos less, so the riders typically better, and he ended
- 22:24Speaker 2: up using something like six leaders per one hundred ks,
- 22:27Speaker 2: which is nothing. And I mean if you switch out
- 22:30Speaker 2: his car for a Wrap four hybrid which uses two
- 22:32Speaker 2: leaders per one hundred less and can run on ninety
- 22:35Speaker 2: one run fuel as well, it would be even cheaper. Still,
- 22:39Speaker 2: So I think that as a road trip vehicle, it's
- 22:42Speaker 2: just a it's a no brainer. You know what you
- 22:44Speaker 2: would have thought when yd brought the three and they
- 22:47Speaker 2: had issues with a tether point in the center seat
- 22:51Speaker 2: in the second row and they had to stop sail
- 22:53Speaker 2: and fix it. Wouldn't you at that point have gone, Okay,
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'm bringing a car into Australia. I'm going to triple
- 23:00Speaker 2: check that there is a place where I can hook
- 23:02Speaker 2: my kid up to in the middle of the second row,
- 23:05Speaker 2: because it is a rule, and someone has just been
- 23:07Speaker 2: dicked for this. Matt memo didn't get through the wizards
- 23:11Speaker 2: at Tesla because the Model three is now no longer
- 23:15Speaker 2: on sale and can no longer be delivered to customers,
- 23:18Speaker 2: and the customers that do have a car now have
- 23:20Speaker 2: doubts over whether they could actually keep driving it because
- 23:23Speaker 2: they had this exact same issue.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how they overcome this.
- 23:27Speaker 1: So basically what's happened is Tesla have had to pause
- 23:30Speaker 1: sales in Australia because their center Child's restraint to the
- 23:36Speaker 1: point has not been installed. They've got the two end ones,
- 23:40Speaker 1: but compliance in Australia says you need to have the
- 23:43Speaker 1: middle one if you've got the middle seat. Now byd
- 23:47Speaker 1: did this go about eighteen months ago and had to
- 23:50Speaker 1: stop the sales, as you said, of the A three,
- 23:53Speaker 1: but they managed to kind of clean that up fairly well.
- 23:57Speaker 2: So did some really good crime coms on that as well.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Say that again, you guys did some really good crisis
- 24:04Speaker 2: comms on that at Big ID as well.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, thank you. Sorry, Hang on, what's that
- 24:10Speaker 1: Emperor Mao take him out? Yes, sir, I just want
- 24:13Speaker 1: to say so, I am here with the Alliance, Yes,
- 24:18Speaker 1: locked into the regime. I'll take him out. That's the anthem,
- 24:25Speaker 1: isn't It's.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Not an inspected gadget.
- 24:33Speaker 1: The Emperor Mao is just like on a big throne,
- 24:36Speaker 1: like I'll get you next time, Marrik, next time. Yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 1: The compliance thing is fucking how what are you doing?
- 24:46Speaker 1: You're the most popular, well known EV company on the planet.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Everybody knows who you are. You think your boys down
- 24:54Speaker 1: at the Compliance Division would kind of check when they're
- 24:58Speaker 1: launching the new thing in to Australia.
- 25:01Speaker 2: You know, you know what as well? I reckon someone
- 25:03Speaker 2: at the Department of it's the Department of hold on,
- 25:08Speaker 2: let me read this out because I thought it was
- 25:10Speaker 2: the funniest thing in the world. It is the Department
- 25:13Speaker 2: of Department. No, no, it was the Department of Transport
- 25:19Speaker 2: and Planning. Apparently it's on the Department of Transport, Agriculture
- 25:23Speaker 2: Planning and corn Flags or whatever it is. But someone
- 25:26Speaker 2: they would have gone, Okay, I have nothing to do
- 25:28Speaker 2: every day, and they would have seen this come in
- 25:31Speaker 2: and gone, oh my god, we have hit them other load.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I cannot wait to stop saleon this. They must just
- 25:37Speaker 2: sit there and go please, just don't have a top
- 25:40Speaker 2: ten point in the middle.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Jeffrey, Jeffrey, you're not going to believe what you fucking
- 25:45Speaker 4: happened to you Teshler have made a big old cock up.
- 25:51Speaker 4: I can't wait to fucking talk to the boys about
- 25:55Speaker 4: this one.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Yes, no, I am.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I'm getting to getting only bit of a stiffy over it.
- 26:01Speaker 4: I haven't seen you in forty years It's like seeing
- 26:04Speaker 4: an old friend yish madey tishla fucked up. Oh Jesus,
- 26:10Speaker 4: I was thinking, my bloody blow dust.
- 26:13Speaker 1: That's how I imagine driver's sex will have. Guys wonder where
- 26:18Speaker 1: that kupra took him over the holidays.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Yeah, he loves defending that thing as well, which is good.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Yeah, loves it. Hey, listen, Chinese ev brand Zeka are
- 26:27Speaker 1: coming to Australia. These guys are owned by well of
- 26:31Speaker 1: the same people who own Volvo and Pollstar and is it?
- 26:35Speaker 1: Is it the Geley group?
- 26:36Speaker 2: Right?
- 26:37Speaker 1: I was thinking when this news article came across my desk,
- 26:40Speaker 1: this is just totally sidetracked. I once wrote a bit
- 26:43Speaker 1: of copy for Geely Technically, yeah, I write a radio
- 26:47Speaker 1: ad for Proton, Remember Proton?
- 26:52Speaker 2: Was it the jump Buck Satria?
- 26:54Speaker 1: Oh my god, the jump I think it could have
- 26:56Speaker 1: been the jump Buck or was there like a Proton
- 26:58Speaker 1: three or something? That jumbuck was there, fucking ute, wasn't it?
- 27:02Speaker 2: That's it?
- 27:03Speaker 1: Yeah? I felt like there was like a Proton three
- 27:06Speaker 1: or something. I don't know what it was, but I
- 27:08Speaker 1: remember Geely also own Loaders. Yeah, I've got a feeling
- 27:13Speaker 1: it was. I was riding it because some of the
- 27:19Speaker 1: chassis or some of the parts were designed by loaders.
- 27:22Speaker 1: In this Proton something.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Like engineered by loaders that had a badge on it.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that was their big claim to fame. Anyway, Zeka
- 27:33Speaker 1: coming to Australia. What do you make of these cars?
- 27:35Speaker 1: By the way, Well, I saw.
- 27:36Speaker 2: One at Munich Airport last year and we were driving
- 27:42Speaker 2: in and I'm like, what the fuck is that? And
- 27:45Speaker 2: it was the stupidly fast sedan thing that has a
- 27:50Speaker 2: very inspired design from the Nis and GTR concert and
- 27:56Speaker 2: it looked absolutely unreal and I started googling it. I'm like,
- 28:00Speaker 2: holy crap, thisstening looks amazing. So they really are just
- 28:04Speaker 2: all about this radical design and just having a look
- 28:08Speaker 2: at what Volvo is doing with the X ninety and
- 28:10Speaker 2: X thirty. I just think that whole group and what
- 28:13Speaker 2: they're working on at the moment is just really fascinating.
- 28:16Speaker 2: So I think it is pretty cool they're coming to Australia.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I just love that we're getting so much variety now
- 28:22Speaker 2: in terms of what's on sale in Australia. It means
- 28:24Speaker 2: you don't have to just settle for the same thing
- 28:26Speaker 2: that everyone else has. So yeah, I think it's pretty cool.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I can't wait to see them here and take one
- 28:32Speaker 2: for a spin.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I agree. I think I'm looking forward to these actually,
- 28:36Speaker 1: because competition is always a great thing. It brings prices down,
- 28:40Speaker 1: it's good for the consumer, the more for us to choose,
- 28:43Speaker 1: and a lot of people like go Jesus bloody Chinese cash.
- 28:47Speaker 1: But I mean, these guys are bringing what looks to
- 28:50Speaker 1: be an awesome I think it's I'm looking.
- 28:52Speaker 5: At the.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Zero zero one. I think it is kind of looks
- 28:56Speaker 1: like a plot. I don't know, it looks mad, though
- 28:58Speaker 1: it looks so good.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, Yeah, I agree. I am excited for
- 29:03Speaker 2: their arrival.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Okay, so everyone would remember a month ago that viral
- 29:07Speaker 1: footage that went around. I think it was originally by
- 29:09Speaker 1: car Well on YouTube, but the footage of the cyber
- 29:13Speaker 1: truck taking on a nine to eleven in a drag
- 29:15Speaker 1: race quarter mile. Not only did the cyber truck win,
- 29:19Speaker 1: but it revealed that it was actually winning whilst towig
- 29:25Speaker 1: another nine to eleven. There's an Instagram at account Court
- 29:29Speaker 1: and believe it or not, I follow them. I think
- 29:31Speaker 1: you'd think it's just something nerdy Pavelai would follow, but
- 29:33Speaker 1: it's called Engineering explained, they've busted them, right, they've busted
- 29:37Speaker 1: this to be a little bit of I guess a
- 29:39Speaker 1: little bit of hohoha, a little bit of showbiz magic.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah. So Jason of Engineering explained he actually runs a
- 29:45Speaker 2: YouTube channel and he's famous for standing in front of
- 29:49Speaker 2: a whiteboard and just explaining stuff in layman's terms, and
- 29:54Speaker 2: he decided to tackle the issue with the cyber truck
- 29:56Speaker 2: on the nine to eleven because I did see that
- 29:58Speaker 2: footage as well. I was a little just confused by
- 30:02Speaker 2: it all there, and when Elon Musk claimed that the
- 30:05Speaker 2: cyber truck was quicker across the quarter mile than a
- 30:08Speaker 2: nine to eleven while also towing a nine to eleven,
- 30:11Speaker 2: I thought, my spidy senses are tingling, because there's a
- 30:16Speaker 2: number of issues with this. A cyber truck across the
- 30:18Speaker 2: quarter mile is moving at a rapid pace if it's
- 30:21Speaker 2: as fast as a nine to eleven, Therefore it needs
- 30:25Speaker 2: to have a trailer with tires that are speed rated,
- 30:29Speaker 2: and towing a car at that speed is just a
- 30:31Speaker 2: stupid idea. So that those things were alarm bells to me.
- 30:35Speaker 2: And also they didn't reveal which nine to eleven it was,
- 30:38Speaker 2: so Anyway, Jason basically debunked this whole thing and discovered
- 30:42Speaker 2: that in the video, they only raced across the eighth mile,
- 30:46Speaker 2: So quarter mile is four hundred and two ish meters,
- 30:50Speaker 2: the eighth mile is half that distant. Then, when he
- 30:53Speaker 2: delved a little further, he discovered that even if Tesla
- 30:57Speaker 2: used the slowest Porsche on sale, which is the Carrera
- 31:02Speaker 2: T manual, that the cyber truck, yeah, the cyber truck
- 31:07Speaker 2: towing something and then towing a car as well, could
- 31:11Speaker 2: still not be faster than the nine to eleven. And
- 31:14Speaker 2: he basically laid it all out in perfect terms. And
- 31:19Speaker 2: the lead engineer for the cyber truck saw this video
- 31:22Speaker 2: and decided to reply in ad is two cents. And
- 31:26Speaker 2: what he revealed, which I just think is totally ridiculous.
- 31:31Speaker 2: He revealed that they only filmed it across the eighth mile,
- 31:34Speaker 2: which we know. He also then revealed the reason they
- 31:38Speaker 2: did into the quarter mile is because the trailer had
- 31:41Speaker 2: tires that were only speed rated to eighty miles an hour,
- 31:44Speaker 2: which is not fast enough to do anything of interest.
- 31:48Speaker 2: And further to that, he said they simulated the quarter
- 31:52Speaker 2: mile and that it would beat the nine to eleven. Now,
- 31:55Speaker 2: there's a few issues with this, so they never actually
- 31:58Speaker 2: did it, So simulating it is just nonsense, and then
- 32:02Speaker 2: claiming it's faster when you never actually tested it is
- 32:05Speaker 2: just stupid.
- 32:07Speaker 1: One's cool. The secondary the other ones called actual practice.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Yeah, the second part is that being a manual transmission
- 32:14Speaker 2: video that requires a driver that is expertly skilled in
- 32:20Speaker 2: shifting gears fast in that specific car to achieve the
- 32:23Speaker 2: optimum time. Now, if you're making a video where you're
- 32:26Speaker 2: claiming you're faster than this other car, you have a
- 32:29Speaker 2: vested interest in the driver of that car being just
- 32:32Speaker 2: a little bit shit. So I mean, why would you
- 32:36Speaker 2: not just pick a PDK nine to eleven where all
- 32:39Speaker 2: you have to do is press the brake and press
- 32:40Speaker 2: the throttle and everything else just happens. And the reason
- 32:43Speaker 2: is it would not be quicker. So they've absolutely ripped
- 32:47Speaker 2: it apart, and the engineer then self incriminated himself by
- 32:51Speaker 2: basically admiting they never actually tested it.
- 32:54Speaker 1: This kind of falls back to my theory of I
- 32:56Speaker 1: think the people who love this car, who love the
- 32:58Speaker 1: cyber truck, do not give a shit. I mean, the
- 33:01Speaker 1: fact is it's done its purpose, whether it was a
- 33:04Speaker 1: quarter mile or like a half quarter mile whatever it
- 33:08Speaker 1: is an eighth mile.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Onn't what was it an eighth past that class to make.
- 33:14Speaker 1: You it's kind of irrelevant because the whole shot of
- 33:20Speaker 1: it is, it is what it is. It's sort of
- 33:22Speaker 1: honest to an extent. But yes, the whole quarter mile, Oh,
- 33:26Speaker 1: we simulated it and it fucking still works and it
- 33:30Speaker 1: would beat the nine to eleven. That's ridiculous. That's you
- 33:33Speaker 1: kind of enclaim. That's basically a hypothesis versus practice. That's ridiculous.
- 33:38Speaker 2: It's really fast as it is. It's like it is
- 33:42Speaker 2: the acceleration figures for that vehicle already out of this world.
- 33:47Speaker 2: So why would you then go and make up this
- 33:49Speaker 2: shit that you know isn't true and then just play
- 33:54Speaker 2: it like it's just so stupid.
- 33:56Speaker 1: On the I think it's marketing. We're in a visual world.
- 33:59Speaker 1: People like aren't in consumers of this, Like, fuck, do
- 34:03Speaker 1: you know who drives a cyber truck? Farrell? Farrell drives
- 34:07Speaker 1: a cyber truck. He's his super producery. He was part
- 34:11Speaker 1: of a thing called the Neptunes. He's quite a famous
- 34:14Speaker 1: muso and he's also now like the head creative director
- 34:17Speaker 1: of like Gucci or something like that. So that's your
- 34:21Speaker 1: audience of a truck is someone like Pharrell. They just
- 34:25Speaker 1: want their friends to go check out my car. It
- 34:28Speaker 1: can beat a nine to eleven until a nine to eleven,
- 34:32Speaker 1: even though it's not really true, true, it's showbiz true.
- 34:37Speaker 1: That's enough for an influencer. Do you know what I mean?
- 34:40Speaker 1: That would just I'll just flick their hair and carry on.
- 34:44Speaker 1: But interesting one to kind of go, guys, you've just
- 34:48Speaker 1: been shot on and sort of that engineer probably should
- 34:53Speaker 1: have just shut his mouth a little bit. By the way,
- 34:56Speaker 1: do you know should we just finish out with a
- 34:58Speaker 1: couple of question to you from the gram?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, let's do it.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Let's go. Okay, these will be rapid fire questions, so
- 35:05Speaker 1: let's not think too hard about it. Should be easy
- 35:07Speaker 1: for me.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Ah.
- 35:09Speaker 1: This one's from Marty Party. Do you think petrol vehicles
- 35:13Speaker 1: kept installed in good nick would be lucrative in twenty
- 35:16Speaker 1: or thirty years as an investment? Are I mean? Yes,
- 35:21Speaker 1: obviously it depends of what car, right, But yes, yes, depends.
- 35:25Speaker 2: On the car. But I will definitely have some in storage.
- 35:28Speaker 1: This one is from Mitchell sup Brother falcon Or Commodore
- 35:32Speaker 1: and why I'm going to say Commodore, I don't know.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I feel like I've got a greater affiliation with a
- 35:42Speaker 1: Commodore the great Australian car, right, I mean they look better,
- 35:50Speaker 1: they drive faster.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Gushing, So it depends on the era. For me, there
- 35:57Speaker 2: were some eras where falcon were better than Commodorees and
- 36:01Speaker 2: vice versus. It really depends. I do only have HSV's
- 36:06Speaker 2: at the moment, but I will look to change that
- 36:09Speaker 2: in the near future.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I still reckon that XU six is an amazing forward.
- 36:13Speaker 2: By the way, x six tuber or the six.
- 36:15Speaker 1: How is Donna's New Year? Let's throw that to Pavla.
- 36:19Speaker 1: That was from Liam. How was how was Donna's New Year?
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah, sweaty, that's no fireworks? All right?
- 36:31Speaker 1: Am I ever a pair of lee We'll go out
- 36:33Speaker 1: with a bang doll on. You know it's weird. Started
- 36:38Speaker 1: off this episode saying Paul's on the zoom with the
- 36:42Speaker 1: blue wife beater singleer where his man boobs look like
- 36:45Speaker 1: Donna's croup top. So obviously where you are there would
- 36:49Speaker 1: have been a window. So the sun has gone down,
- 36:51Speaker 1: so all I can basically see is you're faded over time.
- 36:54Speaker 1: There's like all I can see is like this big
- 36:57Speaker 1: Croatian cheesy smile and those creamy kind of arms that
- 37:00Speaker 1: haven't seen the light of day in a long time.
- 37:03Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, I can barely see that pair.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Of duns have just come out. Don't worry that safety's on.
- 37:09Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Someone called doctor Chris Brown. Those swans are sick. What
- 37:15Speaker 1: is that under your arm? Is that Donald's vagina? Anyway,
- 37:18Speaker 1: It's actually so this whole episode you've gently faded out.
- 37:21Speaker 1: It's like an episode of Law and Order. I'm just
- 37:23Speaker 1: waiting for it to go for executive produce a dig wolf.
- 37:27Speaker 2: It's a metaphor for this episode.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Yes, this question comes from Doug. Should we import Oh,
- 37:35Speaker 1: should we import the larder nivar again?
- 37:38Speaker 2: Yeah? I reckon. I'm just sick of I don't know,
- 37:41Speaker 2: just especially with all this Hindraus stuff that's happened since
- 37:44Speaker 2: our last episode. And we'll talk about that in the
- 37:46Speaker 2: next episode. I just am sick of people being told
- 37:51Speaker 2: that they can and can't do it. And the reason
- 37:53Speaker 2: it won't get improported is there'll be some safety idiot
- 37:57Speaker 2: that just says you can't have it. It'll be the
- 37:58Speaker 2: same safety idiot that's off the sale on that Tesla. Yeah,
- 38:01Speaker 2: it'll be some stupid rules someone put in place, you
- 38:04Speaker 2: know anyway, But yes, I think they should, but they won't.
- 38:07Speaker 1: From Henry, give your thoughts on the new Gi Yarus.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I like the Gi Yrris. I don't know. I'm guessing
- 38:13Speaker 1: he's talking about the one that's out right now.
- 38:15Speaker 2: I added an automatic transmission, and okay, yeah, I think
- 38:19Speaker 2: the interior looks a bit stupid, but I am very
- 38:22Speaker 2: keen to drive it because of the seating position which
- 38:25Speaker 2: is lower. And I'm very keen to see what that
- 38:27Speaker 2: auto transmission is like as well, because maybe it was
- 38:31Speaker 2: it was fine, but just an auto in that, if
- 38:34Speaker 2: it's good, should actually really give it a bit of
- 38:37Speaker 2: a reinvigoration.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm keen to drive it. I like to see.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I love the manual in it. Personally. I think it's good.
- 38:43Speaker 1: The prices are coming down on those those og Gi
- 38:47Speaker 1: yarisis as well, which is good to see. I'm worried
- 38:50Speaker 1: because I feel like this will be like when they
- 38:54Speaker 1: just stuck the auto in the Golfer and there was
- 38:57Speaker 1: no manual. It's just like this one comes from Oh,
- 39:01Speaker 1: This comes from a regular listener intrigues coop. When's the ah,
- 39:08Speaker 1: this is a good one. When's the new line of
- 39:09Speaker 1: merch coming out?
- 39:11Speaker 2: I did see a little tease.
- 39:14Speaker 1: On your Yeah spoiler it is out and we'll talk
- 39:18Speaker 1: about that in a second. And are we getting are
- 39:21Speaker 1: we getting GTA style merch as well? Where we can
- 39:25Speaker 1: organize that, we can get into that. We'll talk about it.
- 39:28Speaker 2: There is there you enjoy your creativity there? I was
- 39:31Speaker 2: quite thank you.
- 39:31Speaker 1: You can tell I was too much of a fractionary
- 39:35Speaker 1: bo mcquarie. This one again comes from in tree coup.
- 39:40Speaker 1: What's the best card to buy? Unto sixty thousand dollars
- 39:44Speaker 1: that you see being a future collector car? So I
- 39:47Speaker 1: don't know if this is new or old. Actually he
- 39:50Speaker 1: does say new or old, So maybe we can do
- 39:52Speaker 1: one of each. Let me see sixty thousand dollars old,
- 39:56Speaker 1: I mean I would still go fuck, they've got their problems,
- 40:00Speaker 1: but I'll still go a nine nine to six. I
- 40:02Speaker 1: reckon you could get under sixty thousand dollars.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Yes, I'd be going down the path of if we're
- 40:08Speaker 2: talking new. We just spoke about it for the gr yars.
- 40:11Speaker 2: I reckon that car in ten or fifteen years time
- 40:14Speaker 2: will be the most bizarre thing to have on the
- 40:17Speaker 2: road and it will be cool withst car to have
- 40:19Speaker 2: on the road.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Do you reckon? You could get the new Type R
- 40:23Speaker 1: that's probably.
- 40:23Speaker 2: About seventeen three grand.
- 40:25Speaker 1: You cough up an extra ten grand and that'll be
- 40:27Speaker 1: a fucking classic, or I may just do that, give
- 40:29Speaker 1: the Type R. So look, merch's out, Merch's here. We've
- 40:33Speaker 1: got a lot of it, So big ups to Gus
- 40:36Speaker 1: from Machines Plus for that legend. We are going to
- 40:39Speaker 1: announce something in the next episode. We've got a few
- 40:41Speaker 1: things to announce actually coming up, some exciting stuff for
- 40:45Speaker 1: everybody plan this year. And yeah, two big things which
- 40:49Speaker 1: we will announce next episode. In the meantime, if you
- 40:54Speaker 1: haven't subscribed to this podcast, if you haven't shared it
- 40:58Speaker 1: with your fucking mar or your mechanic or people in
- 41:03Speaker 1: the know or whoever, please do and give it a
- 41:05Speaker 1: five star rating and leave a little silly comment so
- 41:09Speaker 1: Pavel gets a chuckle and that would be amazing.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Yeah, bloody, And then contact at the Drivers Show dot

- 41:40Speaker 1: you game enough to put that on your own brand,
- 41:43Speaker 1: actually better not Joanna Greggs on it a dribble bib
- 41:48Speaker 1: she already does.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Well. Thank you around for listening. Hopefully we'll have our
- 41:54Speaker 2: next episode out sooner than the rather extended that over Christmas.
