- 0:00Speaker 1: WKBN.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Well, Heidi Ho, it's the middle of June already. Welcome
- 0:04Speaker 2: to Monday, June 15th. What a pleasant day it is today.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Just perfect. I mean, it is just terrific outside. It's
- 0:12Speaker 2: 66 degrees. I mean, this is just comfortable weather. I
- 0:16Speaker 2: know there's people that I'm so glad that it's 66.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Just so comfortable out there. Anyway, nice to be with
- 0:24Speaker 2: you here on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. Be with you right
- 0:27Speaker 2: up until the Rockport Wealth Truth in Investing program tonight.
- 0:31Speaker 2: At 6, so between 3 and 6, we conversate. As always, 330-729-9977, 330-729-9977.
- 0:40Speaker 2: We'll get you through to us on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Let's see, from the email, it says, I can't wait
- 0:48Speaker 2: to hear you talk about how amazing the UFC event was.
- 0:52Speaker 2: All right, I can't talk about it because I didn't
- 0:57Speaker 2: watch it. Now, I did see a snippet when the
- 1:01Speaker 2: guy insulted Michelle Obama, so I can't talk about how
- 1:06Speaker 2: amazing the UFC event was because I didn't watch it.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Didn't watch it. Didn't have an interest in it.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I saw one clip where one of the wrestlers, or
- 1:16Speaker 2: one of the fighters, I should say, insulted the former
- 1:18Speaker 2: First Lady, and I didn't think that was appropriate, but
- 1:23Speaker 2: that's my thoughts.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I mean, what are yours? Run it up the flagpole.
- 1:26Speaker 3: See if anybody salutes. You're on the air. Ted the Conservative.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Ronald, how are you doing today?
- 1:32Speaker 3: Well, I'm doing well, Ted the Conservative. So what do
- 1:35Speaker 3: you make of my..
- 1:36Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 1:37Speaker 6: So much to talk about.
- 1:38Speaker 4: I don't know if we have enough time.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Well, you're talking.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I'm listening to NewsRadio 570. Oh, that's the jingle.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Never mind.
- 1:45Speaker 5: That's okay.
- 1:46Speaker 4: We'll get Baba Ganesha on later to sing it for you.
- 1:49Speaker 7: I got to..
- 1:50Speaker 5: First things first.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Did J.J. drop off the teeth?
- 1:56Speaker 3: Did he do what?
- 1:59Speaker 7: J.J.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Made a wager last week. He said if this thing
- 2:01Speaker 4: gets done by Sunday, you had to buy him some
- 2:04Speaker 4: candy bars, and he was going to drop off some
- 2:06Speaker 4: Milo's tea.
- 2:09Speaker 3: But it's not a done deal. It's not signed yet.
- 2:12Speaker 4: It has been signed digitally. It's just been on the
- 2:16Speaker 4: news again that they signed it with a digital signature.
- 2:19Speaker 4: And they're meeting for a, what would you call it,
- 2:23Speaker 4: a picture option. to say, look what we did.
- 2:29Speaker 2: The last thing I happened to read was Trump didn't
- 2:32Speaker 2: even say if Trump was going to attend.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Trump's not attending.
- 2:36Speaker 4: It's just a photo op they're doing. The deal's been signed.
- 2:39Speaker 4: It's even been advertised on Fox News as of just
- 2:41Speaker 4: two minutes ago, running a banner at the bottom of
- 2:44Speaker 4: the screen that the deal's been signed. They had signed
- 2:47Speaker 4: it digitally. Digitally, if that's the word. They did a
- 2:50Speaker 4: digital signature on it. And they're basically having a big
- 2:53Speaker 4: photo op and a big get-together to say, look what
- 2:55Speaker 4: we did.
- 2:57Speaker 3: So what do you make of it? Well, don't do.
- 3:01Speaker 4: That, because I do want to talk about MMA and
- 3:03Speaker 4: other things.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Listen, we will, but I mean, I haven't heard any
- 3:08Speaker 3: of the details of it.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Well, I haven't either. However, we know what the goal
- 3:14Speaker 4: of Donald Trump was, and that was that they would
- 3:17Speaker 4: never have a nuclear deal, and they know that going in.
- 3:21Speaker 4: You know, I had the last listening to our buddy
- 3:25Speaker 4: Fifth Avenue last week, He was very upset about all this. And,
- 3:30Speaker 4: you know, the funny thing is, they keep talking about
- 3:32Speaker 4: Obama's JCPOA deal with Iran. And all that did was
- 3:38Speaker 4: delay the inevitable. It still gave them a pathway to
- 3:42Speaker 4: having a nuclear program. It didn't stop them. It slowed
- 3:45Speaker 4: them down. Donald Trump's agreement does not allow them to
- 3:50Speaker 4: keep any of their enriched material. We've destroyed their factories.
- 3:53Speaker 4: We've destroyed them From a military standpoint. So I think
- 3:59Speaker 4: the objectives have been met. Now, obviously, they need to
- 4:02Speaker 4: get down to negotiating how they're going to get this stuff.
- 4:05Speaker 6: Out of there.
- 4:05Speaker 4: That's all that's left, really.
- 4:10Speaker 7: You're talking about trying to get it out of where
- 4:12Speaker 7: the bunker.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Buster went, correct?
- 4:13Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Why do you have to dig down and get it out?
- 4:24Speaker 3: Why don't you just leave it there? I mean, it's
- 4:26Speaker 3: buried in a..
- 4:26Speaker 7: That's a good question.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't have an answer, but that's
- 4:29Speaker 4: a good idea.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I mean, so it seems to me... I mean, it
- 4:33Speaker 2: seems to me... I go back to my original statement.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It seems to me that the bunker buster actually worked. So,
- 4:39Speaker 2: I mean, so now what? Now, supposedly, you've got to
- 4:42Speaker 2: dig through this rubble, which would be just a massive
- 4:48Speaker 2: expense and chore to get down in there, to get
- 4:51Speaker 2: the dust... I mean, that seems ridiculous to me.
- 4:56Speaker 5: You know, you could be right, Ron.
- 4:57Speaker 4: I'm not saying you're not wrong.
- 4:59Speaker 3: I would like to know.
- 5:00Speaker 4: The whole idea of the second excursion was because they
- 5:04Speaker 4: saw activity through satellite images that they were trying to
- 5:08Speaker 4: put the pieces together after that first bombing. And they
- 5:11Speaker 4: went in and made sure that they could never put
- 5:12Speaker 4: the pieces together. I want to deal with reality. We
- 5:16Speaker 4: know that there's, I've seen on Fox News, the deal's
- 5:19Speaker 4: been signed. They're going to have a little photo op.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Donald Trump has said today, I heard him say it,
- 5:24Speaker 4: that the G7, he will not be there signing because
- 5:27Speaker 4: it's basically just a photo op.
- 5:29Speaker 5: It's done.
- 5:31Speaker 4: I remember when this excursion started. And You had me
- 5:36Speaker 4: and a guy.
- 5:36Speaker 3: From Florida on. But hang on a second. Hang on
- 5:40Speaker 3: a second before you go celebrating. Let's hear what the..
- 5:43Speaker 4: I'm not celebrating. I'm just saying it's going how I
- 5:45Speaker 4: thought it was.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Okay, just... No celebration.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Make sure to be clear. There's no celebration.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Right.
- 5:50Speaker 7: The job's not done.
- 5:51Speaker 6: Right.
- 5:52Speaker 9: Let's see what..
- 5:52Speaker 4: Things are going just how I thought they were.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Let's see what the details of the deal are. I
- 5:57Speaker 2: was listening to..
- 5:58Speaker 3: Who was commenting?
- 5:59Speaker 2: Was it Obama or somebody that was making a comment
- 6:03Speaker 2: that says... that he doesn't believe that the deal that
- 6:07Speaker 2: will be reached will be any different than the deal
- 6:10Speaker 2: that was there initially and maybe not as good. So
- 6:15Speaker 2: I'll be curious to see who's right or who's wrong
- 6:17Speaker 2: on this.
- 6:18Speaker 4: I don't know what's any good about the Obama deal
- 6:21Speaker 4: because he still gave them a pass to a nuclear program.
- 6:23Speaker 4: They didn't shut down their program. They made them delay
- 6:27Speaker 4: it by 10 years. That's why we have all this
- 6:29Speaker 4: enriched and rich.
- 6:30Speaker 8: Right.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I mean, it's hard for me to say if this
- 6:32Speaker 2: is good or bad because all the details that you
- 6:35Speaker 2: hear are all speculation.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Well, they're going to get their whatever.
- 6:38Speaker 2: $ 24 billion back at a certain point in time once
- 6:43Speaker 2: all of this stuff is verified. Who knows if that's
- 6:47Speaker 2: accurate or not, some of the details that you hear.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Just like your program will listen for weeks, if not months,
- 6:55Speaker 4: Everyone who knew nothing about this situation, including you and I,
- 6:59Speaker 4: thought they knew everything. All I did was make an
- 7:02Speaker 4: educated guess, knowing the parties involved and the military power
- 7:07Speaker 4: being used, that it would end up just how it's
- 7:10Speaker 4: ending up. We're not going to see oil at $ 200
- 7:14Speaker 4: a barrel. It's down to, what, a little over $ 70
- 7:16Speaker 4: a barrel. Stock market's soaring again. Iran will not have
- 7:21Speaker 4: a nuclear weapon, unlike the JCPOA deal with Obama. It's
- 7:25Speaker 4: going just how I thought it would. Do you think
- 7:28Speaker 4: Trump is going to do this, state a very clear objective? Now,
- 7:35Speaker 4: some of this stuff is irrelevant, but the big objective
- 7:38Speaker 4: was no nuclear weapon. He feels comfortable. He's got a
- 7:46Speaker 4: plan in place for that. They signed off on it,
- 7:49Speaker 4: and we'll see what happens. Like you said, In my opinion,
- 7:53Speaker 4: I think they will never stop trying to acquire a
- 7:55Speaker 4: nuclear weapon. But we're not giving them a path to
- 7:58Speaker 4: do it, unlike Obama. Obama just said, hey, let's slow
- 8:01Speaker 4: this down for 10 years.
- 8:03Speaker 5: That's a very total.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Let's slow it down for 10 years. Didn't stop him.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Trump has made it very clear. You cannot have a weapon,
- 8:13Speaker 4: and I'm going to stop you from trying to make one,
- 8:15Speaker 4: and he did. Two different things. Now, the money, everyone's
- 8:19Speaker 4: going to say, oh, he's sending them money. He said
- 8:21Speaker 4: he wouldn't send them money. We're not sending them money.
- 8:24Speaker 4: When this excursion started in the Strait of America, as
- 8:29Speaker 4: part of the stranglehold, in addition to our military, we
- 8:33Speaker 4: froze all their assets. So just as we're going to
- 8:37Speaker 4: open the Strait of America, we're going to allow them
- 8:39Speaker 4: to use their ports, we're going to unfreeze their assets.
- 8:42Speaker 4: We're not giving them money. We're not doing anything to
- 8:44Speaker 4: benefit them. We're not giving them American tax dollars. And
- 8:48Speaker 4: when Obama sent them money, it's because we had that
- 8:51Speaker 4: money in our possession because we basically took it from them.
- 8:56Speaker 2: I am somewhat concerned that Iran's view of the agreement
- 8:59Speaker 2: seems different than what the American negotiating team is claiming.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Under our law, any nuclear deal with Iran will be
- 9:04Speaker 2: sent to Congress for review. Lindsey Graham, I'm just reading
- 9:07Speaker 2: his statement.
- 9:08Speaker 3: That's all.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Right, right, right. And I understand that Congress has got
- 9:13Speaker 4: to do something with approval. I just saw that on
- 9:16Speaker 4: Fox News, too. So I don't know. You and I
- 9:20Speaker 4: don't know what's going to happen. No one does. But
- 9:23Speaker 4: it's going exactly how I thought it would go.
- 9:27Speaker 10: How's that?
- 9:31Speaker 3: As I say, time..
- 9:32Speaker 4: We're not going to see 9% inflation, as we did
- 9:35Speaker 4: with Joe Biden. We're not going to see oil prices,
- 9:38Speaker 4: as some said, up to $ 200 a barrel. I mean,
- 9:42Speaker 4: that's happening. Let's deal with facts. Let's deal with reality.
- 9:46Speaker 4: We know there's only so much we know, but that's
- 9:48Speaker 4: what we know to be factual. Tomorrow there may change.
- 9:51Speaker 4: I think too often the people that know the least
- 9:54Speaker 4: think they know the most. They have opinions that are like,
- 9:57Speaker 4: you know what, everyone has.
- 9:58Speaker 6: One.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Well, the stock market is way up today.
- 10:02Speaker 4: I think it's going well.
- 10:03Speaker 2: The Dow is up, what, 619. S & P is
- 10:05Speaker 2: up 131. NASDAQ is up 756. And the NASDAQ 100
- 10:08Speaker 2: is up 901. The Russell is up 2400. So everything
- 10:19Speaker 2: on the market is way up.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Dow jumped 600 points to a record with rally gaining
- 10:26Speaker 2: steam after Trump signs Iran deal memorandum.
- 10:29Speaker 4: It has been signed, as I told you.
- 10:33Speaker 3: SpaceX IP.
- 10:33Speaker 4: JJ, if you're listening, Ron Veer till what, 6, 6.30, whatever, 7?
- 10:38Speaker 4: You got a little bit of time to get that
- 10:39Speaker 4: going on Milo's CF there.
- 10:42Speaker 2: SpaceX IPO raises total of $ 85. 7 billion as underwriters exercise
- 10:49Speaker 2: green shoe over allotment option, whatever that is.
- 10:55Speaker 4: It's funny, Ron, how all these economic geniuses that we've
- 11:00Speaker 4: heard so much about in the last couple months appear
- 11:04Speaker 4: to be wrong again. All these experts. Remember when they
- 11:06Speaker 4: told us that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation?
- 11:10Speaker 6: Yes.
- 11:11Speaker 4: I've got to be honest, I think he fell into
- 11:13Speaker 4: some of that trap again.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Oh, I never fell in a trap. Not the Russian part,
- 11:18Speaker 3: but the economic..
- 11:20Speaker 2: Oh, make no mistake. Let me give you my assessment
- 11:24Speaker 2: of it because I listened to yours. My assessment is
- 11:29Speaker 2: Trump had to reach an agreement. I'm curious what the
- 11:32Speaker 2: details of this agreement are. And I'm fine with whatever
- 11:35Speaker 2: the details are because I want this thing to be over.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I mean, the following questions that I would want to know,
- 11:41Speaker 2: will they have a tariff to go through the strait?
- 11:44Speaker 2: That's just... a question off the bat. Uh, number two, when,
- 11:50Speaker 2: when does some money get released back to them? Um,
- 11:54Speaker 2: I would just would like to see the details of
- 11:58Speaker 2: it just to see what it's all about. I would,
- 12:02Speaker 2: I would say this to you. I believe Trump's back
- 12:04Speaker 2: was up against the wall. Uh, I do have a
- 12:07Speaker 2: little bit different take than you. I think his back
- 12:09Speaker 2: was up against the wall and time was not on
- 12:11Speaker 2: his side. He had, he had to reach an agreement, uh,
- 12:17Speaker 2: because of where we are as far as oil supply
- 12:20Speaker 2: and the economy and inflation. I think his back is
- 12:23Speaker 2: very much up against the wall. When you say about
- 12:27Speaker 2: his agenda, remember when Trump said there's nothing acceptable? The
- 12:32Speaker 2: agenda kept changing, but their unconditional surrender, I remember him
- 12:35Speaker 2: saying that, their unconditional surrender. Well, there hasn't really been
- 12:39Speaker 2: an unconditional surrender in that sense.
- 12:43Speaker 8: So..
- 12:44Speaker 3: It's hard for me to be positive.
- 12:46Speaker 4: A lot of that un-surrender, that's just who he is
- 12:50Speaker 4: trying to negotiate.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Okay, so then we can say, until we know what
- 12:55Speaker 2: the agreement is, we can't use the excuse, well, that's
- 12:58Speaker 2: just how he negotiates. All I'm saying to you is...
- 13:01Speaker 2: We have an agreement. Right, I want to know what
- 13:05Speaker 2: the agreement is. Believe me when I tell you.
- 13:07Speaker 5: I don't know what else we know other than that.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Listen, I am pleased that this thing is..
- 13:13Speaker 2: Potentially is over and we can move on, that the
- 13:16Speaker 2: strait is open, that we can get back to business
- 13:19Speaker 2: as usual. I mean, I'm very pleased if that materializes.
- 13:28Speaker 2: And I think, and it seems to me it's going
- 13:30Speaker 2: in that direction. Israel can always screw this up, but
- 13:34Speaker 2: we can go, well, we'll see.
- 13:37Speaker 4: That's another part of it. Because I think, now we
- 13:42Speaker 4: may disagree on this one, I don't understand all of
- 13:47Speaker 4: this Israel bullying. I'll call it that. Everyone's beating up
- 13:50Speaker 4: on Israel. And let me explain myself before you respond.
- 13:55Speaker 4: So Trump has been blasting Israel every time they respond
- 14:00Speaker 4: to Hezbollah. Now, Hezbollah is bombing Israel at the request
- 14:06Speaker 4: of the IRG. So on one hand, you've got these people...
- 14:12Speaker 4: in Iran trying to negotiate a peace deal. And on
- 14:16Speaker 4: the other hand, you've got these people in Iran telling
- 14:18Speaker 4: Hezbollah to keep bombing Israel. And we expect Israel to
- 14:22Speaker 4: just sit there because Donald Trump told them to sit
- 14:26Speaker 4: there and not respond. So I would ask you this.
- 14:29Speaker 4: What if we were being bombed through Russian proxies from Cuba?
- 14:36Speaker 5: Okay?
- 14:37Speaker 3: And Stand by. Stand by. A few more minutes with
- 14:41Speaker 3: Ted the Conservative.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Rich, your pharmacist coming up and more right after this.
- 14:46Speaker 9: 570 WKBN.
- 14:48Speaker 2: All right, Ron. Verb 325 in the afternoon. So all
- 14:51Speaker 2: I'm saying is let's wait. How do I say this?
- 14:55Speaker 2: I would like this thing to be over, period, and
- 15:00Speaker 2: ended and focus on the economy. oil prices, and all
- 15:06Speaker 2: of this other stuff. I hope everything works out to
- 15:09Speaker 2: America's best interest and to Trump's best interest, because that's
- 15:12Speaker 2: my best interest.
- 15:14Speaker 3: So it's hard.
- 15:16Speaker 2: For me to say one way or the other until
- 15:18Speaker 2: I would know all the details of what has taken place.
- 15:24Speaker 4: I give you an eye, Captain, but I'll add, it's
- 15:28Speaker 4: going in the right direction, isn't it?
- 15:30Speaker 3: It appears to be at this point in time. It
- 15:33Speaker 3: appears to be.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Now, Israel, real quick, and then you ran some up
- 15:37Speaker 4: the flagpole. I've got to tell you.
- 15:39Speaker 3: And it's got to go.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Imagine we're taking incoming fire from Iranian proxies in Cuba.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Bombs are coming, hitting in Florida.
- 15:48Speaker 3: I don't want to do hypotheticals. Listen, I think I
- 15:52Speaker 3: don't want to get into that because Trump has said
- 15:54Speaker 3: to Trump has said to Israel himself, you guys are
- 15:56Speaker 3: going to screw this up if you don't knock it off.
- 15:59Speaker 3: So is there a wedge now between Trump and Netanyahu?
- 16:03Speaker 3: I don't know the answer to that either.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I think Trump is wrong telling Israel not to do that.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Well, apparently that's part of reaching the agreements. I mean,
- 16:11Speaker 2: here's my philosophy. Let Israel fight its situation. America should
- 16:17Speaker 2: not be involved in it in any way.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Agreed completely.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Period. I'm giving you too many eyes.
- 16:24Speaker 2: No, I mean, listen. Here's my question. Will the Strait
- 16:28Speaker 2: be opened up just as it was before this event happened?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Will there be tolls? What conditions are there for them
- 16:35Speaker 2: getting their money back? And it's just confusing right now
- 16:38Speaker 2: because there's two different sides to this story that are
- 16:41Speaker 2: coming out. And I understand, and I don't disagree with
- 16:45Speaker 2: Congress and Schumer, actually, that say, what are the details
- 16:48Speaker 2: of this agreement? Because you do have people in positions
- 16:51Speaker 2: of power saying, and they have every right to know, too,
- 16:54Speaker 2: what is this deal? Trump was asked that today.
- 16:57Speaker 4: And he thinks that by Friday all the documents should
- 17:00Speaker 4: be released to the public.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Well, good, because, I mean, it seems to me that..
- 17:04Speaker 4: I'm not hiding anything. That's why I said there's a lot..
- 17:06Speaker 2: I know, but it's hard to make it say one
- 17:09Speaker 2: way or the other if you don't know the details.
- 17:11Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Well, we know that the deal's been signed.
- 17:15Speaker 2: And then I would go one step further. We've spent
- 17:19Speaker 2: enough time on it. I mean, until you have the details.
- 17:23Speaker 4: You wanted to run something up the flagpole last night.
- 17:26Speaker 4: You and I had mixed feelings. We were both against
- 17:29Speaker 4: it going in. I was wrong. That was the most
- 17:33Speaker 4: patriotic thing I've ever seen. And let me explain. Unlike
- 17:38Speaker 4: Biden and Obama, who had the gay pride events or
- 17:40Speaker 4: BLM events, and we saw transgender dancing with their genitals exposed,
- 17:46Speaker 4: what last night was about was honoring the men and
- 17:48Speaker 4: women in our military along with first responders. In between
- 17:52Speaker 4: all of the videos and displays of violence honoring all
- 17:59Speaker 4: of our former people who died serving our country. They
- 18:03Speaker 4: had some boxing match fighting, UFC fights in between. That's
- 18:07Speaker 4: how I took it. There were speeches from Reagan. There
- 18:10Speaker 4: were speeches from former presidents that were played. It was
- 18:12Speaker 4: just the most... Amazing thing I've seen. And I didn't
- 18:16Speaker 4: want to shut it off. But at midnight, I was
- 18:18Speaker 4: so tired. And I'm so glad I stayed up to
- 18:21Speaker 4: watch the last play.
- 18:22Speaker 9: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 18:23Speaker 2: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Ron, 335, you're on the air.
- 18:30Speaker 5: Ron, good afternoon, sir.
- 18:32Speaker 3: It's Rich, a pharmacist, yes.
- 18:35Speaker 5: I pretty much agree with everything Ted said, to be
- 18:38Speaker 5: perfectly honest with you. This isn't a victory dance or
- 18:41Speaker 5: a victory lap or anything like that. I think... A
- 18:43Speaker 5: lot could still go wrong with this. I agree with
- 18:47Speaker 5: what he said about Israel. I don't understand why people
- 18:52Speaker 5: are mad at them when they're not the ones that
- 18:55Speaker 5: are getting, you know, they're not the aggressor there. Stop
- 19:00Speaker 5: and think, why is Iran so worried about Lebanon that's hundreds,
- 19:04Speaker 5: if not thousands of miles from its country? Why are
- 19:07Speaker 5: they worried about that? Why are they insisting that Israel
- 19:12Speaker 5: get out of Lebanon? That has nothing to do with Iran.
- 19:15Speaker 5: It's because that's their proxy. They've got their little, you know,
- 19:18Speaker 5: army over there that is very effective at lobbing missiles
- 19:23Speaker 5: into Israel, which no other country in the world would tolerate.
- 19:26Speaker 5: If Cuba was lobbing or Mexico was or Canada was
- 19:28Speaker 5: lobbing missiles into this country, we'd annihilate them. And no American, well,
- 19:34Speaker 5: I don't know, with the left anymore, you probably would
- 19:36Speaker 5: have Americans saying we shouldn't do it. but no real
- 19:39Speaker 5: americans would we would disagree with that decision but i
- 19:43Speaker 5: had a good look gives me pause is i was
- 19:46Speaker 5: just reading an article jd jd vance said uh... they've
- 19:50Speaker 5: agreed that they will not pursue a nuclear weapon. That's
- 19:53Speaker 5: a big difference from they're going to give up what
- 19:57Speaker 5: they have. Now, it also said that in the next
- 20:00Speaker 5: 24 to 48 hours, that's when the terms of the
- 20:02Speaker 5: deal will come out. So if they caved on getting...
- 20:07Speaker 5: what Trump refers to as the dust, the highly enriched uranium,
- 20:11Speaker 5: if they caved on that, that's a big concession on
- 20:15Speaker 5: our part. It's probably not in our interest. On the
- 20:20Speaker 5: other hand, I'm at the point now where once this
- 20:23Speaker 5: is over, bring everybody home. Let's just get out of
- 20:27Speaker 5: there and let those countries, in the future, if there's
- 20:30Speaker 5: anything going on, let them all figure it out amongst themselves.
- 20:32Speaker 5: I'm tired of being the world policeman. That includes Korea, Japan,
- 20:36Speaker 5: and especially Europe. If we learn nothing else from this
- 20:40Speaker 5: three-month endeavor that we've been in, we were shown very
- 20:45Speaker 5: explicitly who our friends are and who our friends aren't.
- 20:49Speaker 5: Because we don't really need the oil that comes over
- 20:53Speaker 5: from the Middle East. We don't import that much of
- 20:55Speaker 5: it from them. Well, you're right that we need oil
- 20:59Speaker 5: from other countries.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Mainly we get most of it from Canada. Yeah, exactly.
- 21:06Speaker 5: So we don't really need the oil over there. Who
- 21:08Speaker 5: does need it?
- 21:09Speaker 7: Asia needs it.
- 21:10Speaker 5: And Europe needs it. Did either one of those regions
- 21:14Speaker 5: lift a finger to support us, even in trying to
- 21:17Speaker 5: get the industry open, putting pressure on Iran, putting pressure
- 21:20Speaker 5: on the Chinese to put pressure on Iran? None of them.
- 21:23Speaker 5: All they did was yell and scream and cry, but
- 21:26Speaker 5: none of them, these supposed allies and friends of the
- 21:28Speaker 5: United States, none of them lifted a finger to help us.
- 21:32Speaker 5: which doesn't surprise me at all because since World War II,
- 21:36Speaker 5: we've been used by these countries. I think G2 and
- 21:39Speaker 5: I were talking about that, and I agree with them
- 21:41Speaker 5: on that 100%. I'm tired of being the patsy for
- 21:46Speaker 5: these countries. You're just signing blank checks that they use.
- 21:50Speaker 5: We're defending Europe. It's time for these people to start
- 21:54Speaker 5: paying their own freight. So that would be my biggest
- 21:58Speaker 5: takeaway from it. Once this stabilizes over there, which God
- 22:01Speaker 5: willing it will, It's time to start building Fortress America
- 22:05Speaker 5: and disengaging from a lot of the rest of the
- 22:08Speaker 5: world because we're not appreciated. We're not, you know, it's
- 22:13Speaker 5: not the, when we need them, they're, you know, when
- 22:17Speaker 5: they need us, we're there. When we need them, they're not.
- 22:21Speaker 5: And who needs a fair weather friend? So I think
- 22:23Speaker 5: it's time for us to just start disengaging and build
- 22:26Speaker 5: Fortress America and call it a day.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Did you watch the big celebration? I didn't watch any
- 22:32Speaker 2: of it. I thought I got an interesting email in
- 22:35Speaker 2: response to what Ted had to say. And it says,
- 22:39Speaker 2: in response to Ted, there's a lot more to America
- 22:41Speaker 2: than cops, firemen, and soldiers, when he said it was
- 22:44Speaker 2: saluting that. And I agree with that. I mean, I
- 22:47Speaker 2: think we take our average citizens for granted. I mean,
- 22:52Speaker 2: there are other– I agree with what the emailer is saying.
- 22:59Speaker 5: What celebration?
- 22:59Speaker 10: The U.S.
- 23:00Speaker 5: Debt fight that was last night?
- 23:01Speaker 3: Yeah, apparently there was some... I didn't watch any of it.
- 23:06Speaker 5: If you honor the cops, the troops, I mean, I'm
- 23:08Speaker 5: not going to complain about that. By all means, honor them.
- 23:11Speaker 5: I didn't watch it. I think that sport is barbaric.
- 23:14Speaker 5: I think the fact that it was on the lawn
- 23:16Speaker 5: at the White House is idiotic.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but see, they try to justify it. They try
- 23:24Speaker 2: to justify it. I agree with you from my perspective.
- 23:27Speaker 2: But they say, well, Biden had that whole transgender thing. Well,
- 23:31Speaker 2: I think that was wrong, too.
- 23:32Speaker 3: What do they say?
- 23:33Speaker 2: Two wrongs don't make a right. That whole transgender thing
- 23:35Speaker 2: was wrong in this deal that they had last night.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I did not watch it. I mean, I just didn't have—
- 23:43Speaker 2: any desire to watch it. I was just doing other things.
- 23:46Speaker 2: So I didn't make the time to go watch it,
- 23:48Speaker 2: but I did see the clip. And I do think
- 23:51Speaker 2: it is it to me, it is in poor taste.
- 23:54Speaker 2: You have, I forget what are these fighters that made
- 23:58Speaker 2: the comment about Michelle Obama being a man. And I
- 24:02Speaker 2: just think that kind of stuff is just inappropriate. I mean, listen,
- 24:06Speaker 2: whether you like Obama or not, he was the president
- 24:08Speaker 2: and she was the first lady show some damn respect.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Well, yeah, and that's where I part ways with, you know,
- 24:15Speaker 5: I love most of Trump's policies. I think he's probably
- 24:19Speaker 5: one of the best policy-driven presidents of my lifetime, if
- 24:23Speaker 5: not the best. Probably even better than Reagan. That said,
- 24:27Speaker 5: he is not without his shortcomings. Most of, you know,
- 24:31Speaker 5: first and foremost, you know, that hole beneath his nose
- 24:34Speaker 5: that he can't keep shut most of the time. And
- 24:37Speaker 5: that's the... And what I understood, his biggest flaw, and
- 24:42Speaker 5: I like to look at things from a historical perspective,
- 24:44Speaker 5: and I think 15, 20, 30 years from now I'll
- 24:47Speaker 5: be dead, but if I were to live to see it,
- 24:50Speaker 5: the biggest criticism you'll have of Trump by historians, other
- 24:54Speaker 5: than the left-leaning ones who do what they do now,
- 24:57Speaker 5: is that he never has been able to rise to
- 25:00Speaker 5: the office. That's probably my biggest criticism of him. Act presidential.
- 25:08Speaker 5: You know, you don't need to sit there and tweet
- 25:11Speaker 5: everything and come up with these good name-calling and sit there.
- 25:15Speaker 5: He's in love with himself. I mean, he's definitely a
- 25:17Speaker 5: narcissist because everything he does is great and fantastic and wonderful.
- 25:22Speaker 5: Normal people don't talk like that. You and I don't
- 25:24Speaker 5: talk like that. You don't talk like that. You don't
- 25:26Speaker 5: sit here, oh, I've got the greatest talk show on Earth.
- 25:29Speaker 5: It's just ridiculous to sit there and self-promote yourself all
- 25:32Speaker 5: the time like that. Maybe his dad didn't love him
- 25:36Speaker 5: enough as a child.
- 25:37Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 25:38Speaker 5: I don't understand it. But that said, from a policy standpoint,
- 25:42Speaker 5: he's still the best president. I vote for him 100
- 25:44Speaker 5: times as president because of that. You know, I think what,
- 25:50Speaker 5: and I told you at the beginning of this, I
- 25:53Speaker 5: know you opposed it. I don't necessarily think it had
- 25:57Speaker 5: to be done. But I think if you can defang
- 26:01Speaker 5: and neutralize or even just, get them to quit being
- 26:06Speaker 5: bad actors in the Middle East, if you kind of
- 26:08Speaker 5: neuter Iran, that's a good thing for the world over
- 26:12Speaker 5: the next couple of decades. Because they're a bad actor.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Probably the worst actor in the world. North Korea is
- 26:20Speaker 5: not even that. North Korea just basically keeps to themselves.
- 26:23Speaker 5: They're not exporting stuff around the world. Iran, you look
- 26:27Speaker 5: at the wars that we fought in the Middle East,
- 26:29Speaker 5: especially Gulf II, Their proxies over there, their versions of
- 26:33Speaker 5: Hezbollah in Iraq, they sponsored a lot of that. They
- 26:37Speaker 5: led to the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands, of
- 26:40Speaker 5: Americans with all those roadside bombs and stuff like that.
- 26:43Speaker 5: So they're not a good government. I mean, we've got
- 26:47Speaker 5: legitimate beefs with them and what they're doing. And the
- 26:50Speaker 5: rest of the Middle East. You know, those other countries
- 26:53Speaker 5: didn't do anything, and he hit the other Arab countries.
- 26:57Speaker 11: Right.
- 26:59Speaker 5: I think it's good that we're at a strategic pause
- 27:01Speaker 5: on that. I was just reading a Wall Street Journal
- 27:03Speaker 5: article or a Fox article, I can't remember, and it
- 27:06Speaker 5: was an op-ed, and it basically said where we're at
- 27:09Speaker 5: right now is a strategic pause. This isn't a victory.
- 27:12Speaker 5: Neither side can claim victory at all. But the fighting
- 27:16Speaker 5: has stopped. Hopefully it stays stopped, and we can reach
- 27:19Speaker 5: a detente with them that stops them from being aggressive,
- 27:24Speaker 5: bad actors. And from this point on, as far as
- 27:27Speaker 5: I'm concerned, like I said, Time to pack our bags
- 27:29Speaker 5: and come home.
- 27:32Speaker 3: All right. Well said. Thank you, Rich. Appreciate it. Well said.
- 27:35Speaker 3: All right. You're on the air. I thought you'd take
- 27:37Speaker 3: care as well. Wait a second here. Let me do this.
- 27:40Speaker 3: You're on the air.
- 27:41Speaker 4: Hi there.
- 27:42Speaker 6: You almost cut me off.
- 27:44Speaker 5: I know.
- 27:45Speaker 6: Did you do that on purpose or what?
- 27:47Speaker 3: Yes. It was a secret mission of mine.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Well, okay. I don't... Everybody wants to... everybody wants to
- 28:00Speaker 6: agree with Trump, but them bad people over there in
- 28:03Speaker 6: the Middle East, and that's including Israel, are never, ever,
- 28:07Speaker 6: ever going to stop fighting. And that's a fact. I mean,
- 28:12Speaker 6: you talk about critical thinking and woke, well, if it
- 28:16Speaker 6: hadn't been for critical thinking and woke, we would have
- 28:20Speaker 6: never had the Boston Tea Party. Same thing with the
- 28:23Speaker 6: Revolutionary War. Same thing with The Civil War. But the
- 28:31Speaker 6: thing that gets me is when you read what him
- 28:35Speaker 6: and his group have done as far as getting rid
- 28:38Speaker 6: of anybody that is black, indigenous Indian, women, and LBGT,
- 28:47Speaker 6: they have gone out of their way to get rid
- 28:48Speaker 6: of those people who served in the military for us.
- 28:55Speaker 6: And I don't understand why people think that he has
- 28:58Speaker 6: done so good, measurably, when he's jacked up the cotton-picking
- 29:05Speaker 6: debt that we owe so high. If he was such
- 29:09Speaker 6: a businessman, why didn't he cut that back? No, he
- 29:12Speaker 6: added more to it. He did it his first time.
- 29:16Speaker 6: And the way he talks and the way he carries on,
- 29:21Speaker 6: there is no point in history... that anybody cannot move
- 29:25Speaker 6: out without thinking about it. If they were just to
- 29:28Speaker 6: listen and sit back and not know it was Trump,
- 29:31Speaker 6: they'd say, who the hell is that? Why in the
- 29:33Speaker 6: world would all these countries throughout the world step up
- 29:36Speaker 6: to help us when he went after them? with the tariffs?
- 29:41Speaker 6: And the tariffs are going to come and bite us
- 29:43Speaker 6: in the next five to ten years. Because people are
- 29:46Speaker 6: going to realize, we don't need America. We can go
- 29:50Speaker 6: to China. And China's over there licking its chops saying, yeah,
- 29:54Speaker 6: I'll buy from you, but it ain't going to be
- 29:56Speaker 6: the same price because America's out. And that's what China
- 30:01Speaker 6: was waiting for. And they got it. They are going
- 30:04Speaker 6: to take the world. They're not going to take the
- 30:06Speaker 6: world by war. They're going to take it by economics,
- 30:09Speaker 6: which is what Ronald Reagan said Japan was trying to do.
- 30:12Speaker 6: I just, I can't. And it just irritates me when
- 30:18Speaker 6: people start talking about this thing woke for the past
- 30:22Speaker 6: seven years. Then if you think about it a little
- 30:25Speaker 6: bit longer, Trump's been screaming about it. rigged elections for
- 30:31Speaker 6: how many years now? Two years prior to going in
- 30:37Speaker 6: after Obama, then the whole time through the four years,
- 30:41Speaker 6: then after he lost the next election, he kept screaming,
- 30:47Speaker 6: it's rigged, it's rigged, and he keeps on doing it.
- 30:49Speaker 6: It got to the point where that was the big
- 30:52Speaker 6: flag for the conservative Republicans to say that they couldn't
- 30:57Speaker 6: have their way And if you didn't vote with them,
- 31:02Speaker 6: you were considered a rhino. And you know what happened
- 31:05Speaker 6: in this state when they pulled that. Somebody called up
- 31:08Speaker 6: and talked to the guy that was usually in the morning,
- 31:12Speaker 6: telling him exactly what was going on. And then they
- 31:16Speaker 6: shut up. This Republican doesn't understand why people cannot see
- 31:25Speaker 6: what is truly going on here. We've got a crime
- 31:28Speaker 6: family that's in the White House right now making hundreds
- 31:32Speaker 6: of millions of dollars a year. So, so far. And
- 31:35Speaker 6: they're going to keep on doing it.
- 31:38Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 31:39Speaker 6: But that's what this Republican sees. He's not doing anything
- 31:42Speaker 6: for me.
- 31:43Speaker 12: I'm too old now.
- 31:45Speaker 6: You're too old now.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 31:49Speaker 6: Okay.
- 31:49Speaker 5: Yes, sir.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Knock it off with the too old crap.
- 31:53Speaker 6: Okay.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
- 31:57Speaker 6: I'm sorry, but it's the truth.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Just when I was starting to feel good about myself today,
- 32:03Speaker 2: you slapped me right down.
- 32:05Speaker 12: You're only as old as you.
- 32:07Speaker 6: Think you are.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Yeah, but now I think I'm much older based on
- 32:10Speaker 2: your comments. Hey, listen, he benefited stuff. Keep in mind,
- 32:15Speaker 2: if you're on Social Security, well, it doesn't even matter
- 32:18Speaker 2: if you're on Social Security. If you're over 65, you
- 32:20Speaker 2: got a significant tax deduction as a result of Trump.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Believe me when I tell you, you save significantly on it.
- 32:28Speaker 2: There's things that... that he has done that you've benefited
- 32:32Speaker 2: from as far as tax cuts are concerned and allowing
- 32:35Speaker 2: you to keep more of your money.
- 32:37Speaker 6: I don't know about that because when I looked at mine,
- 32:40Speaker 6: I couldn't see it.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Well, it's there.
- 32:42Speaker 2: And then you also take a look at some of
- 32:44Speaker 2: the things that are going on with prescription drugs and
- 32:46Speaker 2: the costs that you can save that he's doing there
- 32:50Speaker 2: as well.
- 32:51Speaker 6: Let's corporate agree with the minute he walks out, TrumpMed
- 32:55Speaker 6: is gone.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Well, let's hope it isn't.
- 32:59Speaker 6: Well, I hope so, too, but we ought to go
- 33:01Speaker 6: back there and have Social Security or Medicare or Medicare
- 33:05Speaker 6: should walk in there and start negotiating prices.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 33:10Speaker 12: Huh?
- 33:11Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 33:13Speaker 6: I mean, it's just, I don't understand. I look at
- 33:17Speaker 6: this and I'm so scared for my grandkids and my
- 33:21Speaker 6: great-grandkids of what they're going to have to pay for.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Oh, if you're saying that, I would agree with you.
- 33:27Speaker 2: If you're saying you're concerned for your children and your
- 33:29Speaker 2: grandchildren because of the debt and deficit of this country,
- 33:33Speaker 2: how it continues to grow, how we continue to spend
- 33:36Speaker 2: more money than we take in, how the interest takes
- 33:39Speaker 2: up so much of our tax dollars, how there seems
- 33:41Speaker 2: to be zero interest in solving this problem, and we
- 33:44Speaker 2: pass that burden on to future generations, they have every
- 33:48Speaker 2: right to be pissed about that. I'm in total... Total
- 33:51Speaker 2: agreement with you there. I mean, if you're saying, am
- 33:54Speaker 2: I concerned about the future for our younger generations? And
- 33:58Speaker 2: my answer to that would be yes, when it comes
- 34:00Speaker 2: to the debt and deficit of the country. And also
- 34:02Speaker 2: my answer to that would be yes, when it comes
- 34:04Speaker 2: to the cost of health care, which is already off
- 34:06Speaker 2: the charts.
- 34:07Speaker 3: And where can that be going?
- 34:08Speaker 2: And also it would be saying the burden of taxes
- 34:12Speaker 2: that people will face as a result of it. I'm
- 34:16Speaker 2: concerned about all of those things. And then you throw
- 34:19Speaker 2: in AI on top of it. There's four major things
- 34:22Speaker 2: I'm concerned with with the younger generation, which would include
- 34:26Speaker 2: my own adult children. I mean, I think they should
- 34:29Speaker 2: be OK for the most part. But I'm genuinely concerned
- 34:33Speaker 2: based on those things. Debt and deficit of the country.
- 34:36Speaker 2: the amount of taxes that people are going to have
- 34:39Speaker 2: to be charged on this, the cost of health care,
- 34:44Speaker 2: and the AI situation is of grave concern to me
- 34:48Speaker 2: for younger generations.
- 34:51Speaker 3: I'm with you there.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Stand by for me. If you've got more to say,
- 34:53Speaker 2: just hang in there for a minute. I'll be right
- 34:55Speaker 2: back with them after this.
- 34:56Speaker 13: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 35:02Speaker 2: So I think you make some legitimate points when you
- 35:04Speaker 2: say you're concerned about what's ahead for future generations, because
- 35:07Speaker 2: I would totally agree with you. But like I said,
- 35:11Speaker 2: I throw AI in as well, and what effects that
- 35:13Speaker 2: could have.
- 35:15Speaker 6: You know, are you done? Yeah. Okay, this gerrymandering stuff
- 35:20Speaker 6: going on, United States people are lazy. They don't want
- 35:25Speaker 6: to get out and vote. In places like California, they
- 35:28Speaker 6: did the ballot because it's easier to do the ballot-ing thing.
- 35:32Speaker 6: I've been doing the ballot-ing thing since Obama because I
- 35:35Speaker 6: didn't want to stand in line for a half hour,
- 35:38Speaker 6: 45 minutes to vote. So I've been doing it that way,
- 35:42Speaker 6: like I said.
- 35:43Speaker 3: What do you mean? You go down to the Board
- 35:44Speaker 3: of Elections to vote?
- 35:46Speaker 6: No, I did that twice, and I had to stand
- 35:49Speaker 6: in line for a half an hour. I said, I
- 35:52Speaker 6: ain't doing this nonsense anymore. I ain't wasting my time.
- 35:55Speaker 6: When I can have them sent for me, then I
- 35:56Speaker 6: can do it at my leisure, at my house.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Yeah, but how we do it in Ohio as far
- 36:01Speaker 2: as mailing ballots is much different than in California. In California,
- 36:04Speaker 2: they're mailing everyone a ballot. And that's not right. You
- 36:09Speaker 2: could be dead. You could move.
- 36:10Speaker 3: You don't know who's voting that ballot.
- 36:12Speaker 2: We do it in a much better fashion here in
- 36:14Speaker 2: the state of Ohio. It's way different how we do
- 36:17Speaker 2: it here. than they do in California. I've got to
- 36:19Speaker 2: get you to stand by again. I'll wrap up my
- 36:21Speaker 2: conversation with you and get to more calls that have
- 36:23Speaker 2: been patient right after the break at 4. I'll ask
- 36:25Speaker 2: him to stand by. Ron Ferb from the Kingdom of Mahoney.
- 36:32Speaker 14: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen.
- 36:35Speaker 15: In the French Alps, President Trump is meeting with world
- 36:37Speaker 15: leaders for the start of the G7 summit. Earlier, the
- 36:40Speaker 15: president told reporters he thinks terms of a deal between
- 36:43Speaker 15: the U.S. and Iran will be finalized later this week.
- 36:45Speaker 3: The deal's on the side.
- 36:47Speaker 16: And the strain is already partially opened. As you know,
- 36:50Speaker 16: they're doing a little hunting for a couple of mines
- 36:54Speaker 16: that they've already found. But it's essentially ships are starting
- 36:59Speaker 16: to go out now on Friday.
- 37:01Speaker 3: It'll be completely open.
- 37:02Speaker 11: The U.S.
- 37:03Speaker 15: Navy today issuing a maritime advisory to ships saying the U.S.
- 37:06Speaker 15: blockade of Iranian ports will remain in effect until an
- 37:09Speaker 15: agreement is formally complete. Prices for a barrel of crude
- 37:13Speaker 15: began to drop today on word of a deal and
- 37:15Speaker 15: in the U.S. gas prices also dipping below $ 4 a gallon.
- 37:19Speaker 15: California's Governor Gavin Newsom in a social media post on
- 37:22Speaker 15: X says the Justice Department has launched an investigation into
- 37:26Speaker 15: him and his wife. He didn't specify why. ABC's Alex
- 37:29Speaker 15: Mallon has more on the possible probe.
- 37:32Speaker 17: Is looking into Gavin Newsom's wife's taxes. It's really unclear
- 37:37Speaker 17: whether prosecutors have amassed any evidence that would suggest they
- 37:40Speaker 17: are going to seek an indictment against Gavin Newsom or
- 37:44Speaker 17: his wife. They've been trying to speak and subpoena people
- 37:47Speaker 17: close to him, close to his wife, to dredge up
- 37:49Speaker 17: in his words information that would lead them to potentially
- 37:52Speaker 17: seek charges. And he is framing this as a campaign
- 37:55Speaker 17: of retribution by President Trump.
- 37:56Speaker 15: In Southern California, officials at Edwards Air Force Base in
- 37:59Speaker 15: a social media post announced emergency personnel are responding to
- 38:03Speaker 15: a B-52 crash that happened shortly after takeoff this morning.
- 38:06Speaker 15: The air base, located nearly two hours northeast of Los Angeles,
- 38:11Speaker 15: the Air Force and NASA conduct test flights of new
- 38:13Speaker 15: and developmental aircraft there. In Missouri, federal investigators beginning to
- 38:17Speaker 15: collect evidence at the scene of the deadly skydiving plane
- 38:20Speaker 15: crash Sunday. Outside Kansas City, the pilot, along with 11 skydivers,
- 38:24Speaker 15: were killed when the plane went down shortly after takeoff.
- 38:28Speaker 15: You're listening to ABC News.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I mean, just perfect weather-wise, 67 degrees, nice breeze out there,
- 38:37Speaker 2: low humidity. Good to be with you here this afternoon.
- 38:40Speaker 2: I want to finish my conversation with this caller. I
- 38:43Speaker 2: do agree with the points that he made prior to...
- 38:48Speaker 2: The four o'clock news break when he said he feels
- 38:52Speaker 2: concerned about the younger generation and what we're leaving him.
- 38:56Speaker 3: So I'll give you an aye-aye, Captain, on that. But
- 38:58Speaker 3: go ahead with what you were going to say.
- 39:00Speaker 6: We can get rid of gerrymandering. Americans are lazy. Just
- 39:05Speaker 6: downright lazy. But I'm going to tell you an incident
- 39:09Speaker 6: that happened.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Okay, okay. Wait a second. You were talking about voting.
- 39:13Speaker 3: That's right.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I mean, there's a big difference on how we do
- 39:16Speaker 2: that voting in Ohio versus California. The reality is the
- 39:20Speaker 2: California system is cause for concern. Jimmy Carter said it,
- 39:25Speaker 2: and it's a fact. Mail-in balloting is... can be ripe
- 39:30Speaker 2: with fraud. If you're mailing everybody a ballot, which is
- 39:34Speaker 2: what they're doing in California and some other states, I repeat,
- 39:38Speaker 2: you don't know if they're dead. You don't know if
- 39:39Speaker 2: they moved. You don't know who's voting that ballot. And
- 39:44Speaker 2: it's just... You don't know if they're going down saying
- 39:46Speaker 2: to some homeless guy, give you 10 bucks, which is
- 39:49Speaker 2: reported if you vote this way. Some of it doesn't
- 39:53Speaker 2: give you confidence and security in your voting system. How
- 39:56Speaker 2: we do it in Ohio is much better and much
- 39:58Speaker 2: more secure, how they do it in Florida. I'm just
- 40:01Speaker 2: a dead set against, I'm concerned, I would say this
- 40:05Speaker 2: to you, that we're getting some things that should not
- 40:07Speaker 2: be political that are becoming political. We're starting to see
- 40:11Speaker 2: that too much as far as judges are concerned.
- 40:13Speaker 3: And the judiciary. I've said this before.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I grew up thinking a judge is a judge, and
- 40:18Speaker 2: they pretty much were for most of my life. It
- 40:21Speaker 2: really didn't matter who you put in that seat. They
- 40:23Speaker 2: were supposed to sit there and hear the case and
- 40:25Speaker 2: hear the evidence and render a verdict based on their
- 40:29Speaker 2: knowledge and understanding of the law and the Constitution. And
- 40:33Speaker 2: that's pretty much how it was most of my life until,
- 40:35Speaker 2: what would you say, the last 15 years or so,
- 40:39Speaker 2: when all of a sudden it became so political with
- 40:42Speaker 2: a lot of these judges. You would see that they
- 40:44Speaker 2: would bring their personal views in, whether liberal or conservative.
- 40:48Speaker 2: When it came to rendering their decision or some of
- 40:52Speaker 2: the nonsense that you would see these judges decisions that
- 40:55Speaker 2: they would be making based on a person's politics or
- 40:58Speaker 2: their skin color, whether they were lenient sentences or too
- 41:02Speaker 2: strict sentences. So the judicial system got too political. And
- 41:07Speaker 2: I'm afraid voting and you lose confidence in it. You
- 41:10Speaker 2: lose confidence in a judicial system because of the politics involved.
- 41:14Speaker 2: You lose confidence in the judicial system when you see
- 41:17Speaker 2: the politics involved in the Supreme Court. I'm going to
- 41:19Speaker 2: make sure it's a black female, not the best legal
- 41:22Speaker 2: minds in the country that should be on the Supreme Court.
- 41:25Speaker 2: That troubles me a great deal, just as it troubles
- 41:28Speaker 2: me to say I'm losing confidence in our election system
- 41:32Speaker 2: when you have people that say you shouldn't have to
- 41:34Speaker 2: show an ID when you go and vote, or you
- 41:38Speaker 2: shouldn't be more secure on who gets a mail-out ballot.
- 41:42Speaker 2: We should have the utmost confidence in that system. I
- 41:45Speaker 2: leave you with that, but go ahead.
- 41:47Speaker 6: Oh, I have never had any problem with the rules
- 41:53Speaker 6: of voting here in the state of Ohio. I have
- 41:56Speaker 6: never had any problems. We want to see this. It
- 41:59Speaker 6: used to be you could take down your rent, your gas, electric,
- 42:03Speaker 6: and then if you didn't have a driver's license or
- 42:06Speaker 6: you didn't have an Ohio card. But showing the driver's license,
- 42:10Speaker 6: you get it. My granddaughter did. I begged her and
- 42:13Speaker 6: begged her and begged her when she got to the
- 42:14Speaker 6: age of vote. Go down and vote. Oh, I don't
- 42:18Speaker 6: have the time, Grandpa. Well, please, please. She went down,
- 42:21Speaker 6: did all the paperwork, called me up, said, well, Grandpa,
- 42:24Speaker 6: I did what you did. And I asked them for
- 42:26Speaker 6: a mail-in ballot, but it was too early. Time came
- 42:29Speaker 6: for the mail-in ballot. I called her up and said,
- 42:31Speaker 6: call in for your ballot. She called in for her ballot,
- 42:34Speaker 6: and they said it was eliminated. And I'm going, what?
- 42:41Speaker 3: Listen, I don't know what her particular situation is.
- 42:44Speaker 2: I've got to tell you, you and I grew up
- 42:46Speaker 2: at a time which wasn't that big a deal when
- 42:49Speaker 2: you went and voted on one particular day. I mean,
- 42:53Speaker 2: you had from 6 in the morning until 7 at night.
- 42:58Speaker 2: I mean, it wasn't that big a deal to go vote,
- 43:01Speaker 2: in my opinion, at all.
- 43:03Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 43:05Speaker 6: I understand. But a lot of times when that came up,
- 43:08Speaker 6: at 6 o'clock in the morning, I was pretty much
- 43:11Speaker 6: on my way out the door to go to work.
- 43:13Speaker 6: And by the time I got back home, I was
- 43:16Speaker 6: just so glad to be home. That sort of deal.
- 43:19Speaker 6: That's how I turned into a send-me-the-ballot sort of person.
- 43:26Speaker 6: And I understand what you're saying, but the people in
- 43:30Speaker 6: America are just plain lazy. We can get rid of
- 43:33Speaker 6: all that stuff by just people coming out and voting.
- 43:36Speaker 6: I mean, so far, with always jacking up our debt,
- 43:43Speaker 6: the conservative Republicans, along with some of those knucklehead Democrats
- 43:47Speaker 6: that went along with it in the past, every one
- 43:50Speaker 6: of them boneheads should have been voted out. In the
- 43:55Speaker 6: state of Ohio, I mean, take a look at the
- 43:56Speaker 6: mess we're in now because nobody was paying attention. We
- 44:00Speaker 6: should just vote them people out. Okay, so it leaves
- 44:03Speaker 6: a bad taste in your mouth for you because you
- 44:07Speaker 6: may only have a choice to vote for a Democrat.
- 44:11Speaker 6: And I can fully understand this. Now, this next governor election,
- 44:15Speaker 6: I wouldn't vote for Ram Slam. I'm sorry, I don't
- 44:18Speaker 6: mean to mess up his name. But he does not
- 44:22Speaker 6: understand the culture of it. He doesn't understand being an American.
- 44:29Speaker 6: And why would we trust somebody that went to an
- 44:34Speaker 6: elite school where he was treated in that manner, thinking
- 44:40Speaker 6: that he knew what was right and everybody else knew
- 44:42Speaker 6: what was wrong?
- 44:43Speaker 18: He doesn't.
- 44:46Speaker 6: He doesn't know what to do to get up every morning.
- 44:49Speaker 6: five or six days a week at seven or six
- 44:52Speaker 6: or five to go to work and then work all
- 44:54Speaker 6: day and come back home and wonder if he's going
- 44:57Speaker 6: to be able to make enough money to pay his bills.
- 45:00Speaker 6: He's never had that problem. And he never will have
- 45:05Speaker 6: that problem. The same thing with Trump. He never had
- 45:07Speaker 6: that problem. He never worried about it. He could have
- 45:11Speaker 6: cared less. I'm just saying that this kind of nonsense
- 45:15Speaker 6: is on and on and on, and I compute Because
- 45:19Speaker 6: since Reagan, how many Republican presidents, how many Republican Congress,
- 45:25Speaker 6: and look at us now, my God. They've taken so
- 45:30Speaker 6: much money out of the Social Security interest fund, they
- 45:35Speaker 6: can't seem to figure a way to do it. Well, yes,
- 45:37Speaker 6: there is. Take some of them tax breaks off, and
- 45:41Speaker 6: if they find a person who did not do their
- 45:43Speaker 6: taxes right, You've got to pay the taxes, you've got
- 45:47Speaker 6: to pay the fine, and you've got to pay the interest.
- 45:49Speaker 6: You take all that money, and you put it right
- 45:52Speaker 6: back into all of it, every single penny, and put
- 45:56Speaker 6: it right back into Social Security, and it'll help some,
- 45:59Speaker 6: but not enough, but at least help some, and take
- 46:02Speaker 6: away some of them tax breaks. Because all it did
- 46:06Speaker 6: was lead the state of Ohio deeper into debt because
- 46:09Speaker 6: of it.
- 46:13Speaker 2: So you won't vote for Vivek? I should say you'll
- 46:17Speaker 2: vote for Amy Acton?
- 46:20Speaker 6: Yes, because what I've seen so far, and I'll look
- 46:22Speaker 6: it up and someday I'll call you and I'll tell
- 46:25Speaker 6: you what I've totally found out about her. But I'm
- 46:29Speaker 6: not going to let some guy that's a millionaire because
- 46:31Speaker 6: his mom and dad helped him be a millionaire tell
- 46:34Speaker 6: me that I'm wrong and that he's right. He has
- 46:38Speaker 6: no idea because his concept is Elite, I'm right and
- 46:43Speaker 6: you're wrong.
- 46:44Speaker 3: I hear you.
- 46:45Speaker 1: All right, thank you.
- 46:46Speaker 6: Hey, you want to know something else?
- 46:48Speaker 3: What's that?
- 46:49Speaker 6: Today was such a beautiful day. Take my fishing pole out,
- 46:54Speaker 6: put a kite on the end of it, and let
- 46:55Speaker 6: it go.
- 46:59Speaker 3: Well, I'm glad that you did that, okay? Have a
- 47:04Speaker 3: good day. I was going to make a joke, but
- 47:06Speaker 3: I couldn't do it. It's probably not appropriate. You're on
- 47:08Speaker 3: the air.
- 47:08Speaker 11: Ron?
- 47:10Speaker 6: Ron?
- 47:11Speaker 3: Oh, jeez.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I am feeling so patriotic today.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Well, I bring that out in people. I absolutely bring
- 47:20Speaker 3: that out in people.
- 47:21Speaker 19: Well, I'm not so sure that it was from you.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Oh, I see.
- 47:25Speaker 19: Well, I mean, he didn't make.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Me unpatriotic, but I don't know if you're the reason
- 47:29Speaker 1: that I'm so enthusiastic today. Can you imagine why I'm
- 47:35Speaker 1: so enthusiastic? And don't, I mean, you might not have
- 47:38Speaker 1: watched it, but there's zero chance you didn't see the clips.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Right, I saw the clips. I did not watch it.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Did you see that formation, that super delta formation with
- 47:48Speaker 1: the blue angels and the thunderbirds?
- 47:50Speaker 3: Well, that's always outstanding when I go to the air show, yeah.
- 47:55Speaker 1: It was unbelievable. That was the best event. I don't
- 48:00Speaker 1: know how you ever taught that. For the 250th. birthday
- 48:05Speaker 1: of this country. It was so unbelievably impressive. The flags,
- 48:11Speaker 1: the fact that they had that Marine band was outstanding.
- 48:15Speaker 1: They were unbelievable. The walkout songs of these fighters were
- 48:20Speaker 1: the military members singing them, not like music playing. They
- 48:25Speaker 1: were singing them. The escorts of these fighters coming out
- 48:29Speaker 1: were people, retired military heroes and first responders. It was unbelievable.
- 48:40Speaker 19: I'll never forget it.
- 48:41Speaker 1: We'll never have anything like that again. It shattered every record.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Every record for views.
- 48:47Speaker 19: It was above and beyond what they even expected.
- 48:49Speaker 1: And the UFC paid for it with paramount.
- 48:55Speaker 19: It was unbelievable.
- 48:56Speaker 1: You should all watch it. Free admission for the troops,
- 49:01Speaker 1: their families. Um, the, the, the background with the white
- 49:05Speaker 1: house and the fireworks afterwards with.
- 49:07Speaker 19: Those that for me, oh my God, it was, it was,
- 49:09Speaker 19: it was unbelievable.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I didn't go to bed till one 30.
- 49:13Speaker 3: My God. No wonder you're so cranky. You didn't get
- 49:16Speaker 3: enough sleep.
- 49:17Speaker 4: It was so bad.
- 49:19Speaker 1: People crying about that, they were wrong. It was so classy. Yeah,
- 49:24Speaker 1: that one fighter, he's not my favorite. I don't like
- 49:27Speaker 1: that guy. I think he's just, you know.
- 49:30Speaker 19: The reason why I don't like him isn't because of
- 49:31Speaker 19: what he said.
- 49:32Speaker 1: About Michelle Obama, but he's always a nutbag.
- 49:35Speaker 3: Okay, so see, this is why I can say I
- 49:40Speaker 3: respect the boss lady.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Because, see, this is what I respect. Because you watched it,
- 49:45Speaker 2: you enjoyed it. Now, I did not see it. And
- 49:47Speaker 2: I respect your opinion, just as I do Ted the Conservative.
- 49:50Speaker 2: He said it was great. And he got tired after
- 49:53Speaker 2: a period of time, too. But he said it was great.
- 49:56Speaker 2: But this is what I respect about you. You said
- 49:58Speaker 2: the thing that is true. In that type of situation...
- 50:02Speaker 2: show respect for, I don't care whether you like Obama
- 50:05Speaker 2: and his wife or not, but don't, don't be on a,
- 50:08Speaker 2: on that grounds and insult his wife.
- 50:10Speaker 3: I mean, it's just wrong.
- 50:12Speaker 19: That guy, he's an idiot. He's always an idiot.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Even Dana White, Dana White's not a fan of him either.
- 50:17Speaker 1: I mean, everybody knows he's just a goofball. He's an
- 50:20Speaker 1: amazing fighter, but he's trying to, I think he's trying to,
- 50:23Speaker 1: he almost makes it like, um, WWE. And this is
- 50:28Speaker 1: absolutely not, uh, wwe which is more of a a
- 50:33Speaker 1: show i can't even stand wwe but people enjoyed that
- 50:37Speaker 1: but i mean i couldn't have thought of a better
- 50:40Speaker 1: way to celebrate the entire world was watching this event well.
- 50:45Speaker 3: I wasn't i i wasn't watching i know you missed
- 50:48Speaker 3: i don't know what time what time.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Did you tune in You got to see, I watched
- 50:53Speaker 1: the entire from the first 15 minutes ahead of time.
- 50:56Speaker 3: When did it start?
- 50:57Speaker 1: You got to see the inside of the White House.
- 50:59Speaker 1: These fighters walked the halls in awe, escorted by ex-military
- 51:06Speaker 1: heroes and first responders.
- 51:08Speaker 19: It was a view of the White House that you've
- 51:10Speaker 19: never seen. It was, I'm going to even tell you,
- 51:12Speaker 19: I'll never, I won't.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Stop talking about this for years. It was so unbelievable.
- 51:16Speaker 1: You couldn't even have done a better event. It was
- 51:21Speaker 1: so well done. Trump, I bet, is smiling from ear
- 51:24Speaker 1: to ear. This Iran deal. And that night, he's got
- 51:30Speaker 1: to be walking on cloud nine right now. And the
- 51:33Speaker 1: gas and oil, what was it, $ 85 a barrel or
- 51:36Speaker 1: $ 80 something?
- 51:37Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 51:38Speaker 1: I saw it quickly on Flash on the screen. I mean,
- 51:42Speaker 1: you know, he rallied. He's rallying right now. So we
- 51:46Speaker 1: just got to hope that everything continues to go in
- 51:49Speaker 1: the right direction.
- 51:50Speaker 19: We don't know what was in that Iran deal.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Not one person knows what was in it because they
- 51:54Speaker 1: haven't released all the details. We just have the highlights.
- 51:57Speaker 1: So we're all, you know, we got to, we're hoping that,
- 52:00Speaker 1: but to me, he's had a, A hell of a
- 52:03Speaker 1: couple days here, and I don't understand it is what
- 52:06Speaker 1: I don't understand. I don't understand it. This is not
- 52:09Speaker 1: something that's in my line of expertise, but I don't
- 52:12Speaker 1: understand how these barrels of oil go from one place
- 52:14Speaker 1: to another and for no apparent reason, and everybody's.
- 52:17Speaker 19: Going to get on here and tell me all the
- 52:19Speaker 19: reasons why, and none of them make sense because.
- 52:21Speaker 1: They don't hold true. Yeah.
- 52:24Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 52:25Speaker 7: I don't know how it dropped so fast.
- 52:26Speaker 1: How did it drop so fast?
- 52:28Speaker 3: I don't understand.
- 52:29Speaker 6: Stand by.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Stand by. Stand by. I've got to calm her down.
- 52:32Speaker 2: It's the boss lady. She's out of control. Back with
- 52:35Speaker 2: her in a minute.
- 52:39Speaker 9: 570 WKBN.
- 52:40Speaker 3: We're on Verb News Radio 570 WKBN. Onward we go.
- 52:45Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just trying to calm you down. You're
- 52:47Speaker 2: on such a high today. I don't want you. I
- 52:50Speaker 2: don't want you like. I don't want you overheating or whatever.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I mean, you know, having some. some meltdown or something
- 52:57Speaker 2: like that i mean it's just so what so what
- 52:59Speaker 2: time did this start i don't even know what time
- 53:01Speaker 2: did this show start.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Uh eight o'clock it was a little late because of
- 53:04Speaker 1: uh rain or her weather um it was outside i
- 53:08Speaker 1: mean that's like they said you should i there was
- 53:10Speaker 1: some commentating about how these title fights should have never
- 53:13Speaker 1: been out i mean you should not even have one
- 53:15Speaker 1: outside because those mats get real slippery and.
- 53:18Speaker 19: It was incredible they had a little bit.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Sweating and everything.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Do you enjoy watching those fights?
- 53:28Speaker 1: I absolutely love it because I'm a big wrestling fan.
- 53:31Speaker 1: You know my Kids wrestled. My son still wrestles in college.
- 53:35Speaker 1: My husband coached wrestling for years.
- 53:40Speaker 7: We love it.
- 53:40Speaker 1: We're just big wrestling fans.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I think I said this once, maybe to you, maybe
- 53:46Speaker 2: not to you. I can remember getting in high school
- 53:50Speaker 2: gym class back in the day. You had a segment
- 53:53Speaker 2: where you had to wrestle in your weight class in gym.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Wrestling is exhausting. Yeah, I mean, if you wrestle someone,
- 54:02Speaker 2: it zaps all the strength and energy out of your
- 54:05Speaker 2: body for that short period of time in gym class
- 54:09Speaker 2: to where the next period, whatever class it was that
- 54:11Speaker 2: you had to go to next, you were physically drained
- 54:14Speaker 2: and exhausted. I mean, wrestling is just an intense sport.
- 54:19Speaker 2: It's hard.
- 54:20Speaker 1: It's intense. It's extreme conditioning, heated rooms, explosiveness. You've got endurance, flexibility, strength,
- 54:29Speaker 1: mental toughness. I mean, you've got weight management.
- 54:32Speaker 3: I mean, all of that.
- 54:33Speaker 1: It's the toughest of the toughest.
- 54:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and you're giving it all you have against... Your opponents.
- 54:39Speaker 19: I mean, it's... And there's no place to hide, Ron.
- 54:42Speaker 1: That's why I love it.
- 54:43Speaker 6: Right.
- 54:43Speaker 7: It exposes.
- 54:44Speaker 3: Well, for me, there was. It's a humbler.
- 54:46Speaker 2: For me, there was. Right on my back was where
- 54:48Speaker 2: I could hide. As the referee said, one, two, three.
- 54:53Speaker 3: Okay.
- 54:54Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 54:55Speaker 3: But you know what?
- 54:57Speaker 1: In a country where we have demasculinized men, this was
- 55:02Speaker 1: such a, oh, my God, to see. The physicality, the toughness.
- 55:06Speaker 1: I loved it.
- 55:07Speaker 9: Would have.
- 55:08Speaker 1: And I know you don't like the truth too wrong,
- 55:10Speaker 1: so make a right. I'm with you. But sometimes you
- 55:12Speaker 1: feel still worth a mention. We went from rainbow flag
- 55:17Speaker 1: columns and twirling.
- 55:19Speaker 6: Yes.
- 55:20Speaker 1: I don't even know what you call it, too. The physicality. Oh,
- 55:23Speaker 1: my God. Ron, you've got to watch it.
- 55:26Speaker 19: Anybody who disagrees with me, they're insane.
- 55:29Speaker 3: We call it as it is.
- 55:31Speaker 2: Any man that disagrees with you in your eyes, boss lady,
- 55:36Speaker 2: in your Italian eyes is a wimp.
- 55:39Speaker 7: Wimp, a wimp, stuff it up.
- 55:41Speaker 1: I get that. You know, and Rich said it's a
- 55:43Speaker 1: little barbaric.
- 55:44Speaker 19: I mean, I get that. It's a little tough. It's
- 55:47Speaker 19: a little tough.
- 55:48Speaker 1: But, you know, I was just telling my husband, we
- 55:50Speaker 1: were talking about it last night, and they have fewer injuries,
- 55:53Speaker 1: I guess, according.
- 55:54Speaker 19: To my husband.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I don't know what, you know, there's no fatalities than boxing.
- 56:00Speaker 1: It just looks more rough. Because it's mixed martial arts.
- 56:04Speaker 1: What's the difference between boxing and mixed martial arts? You've
- 56:09Speaker 1: got jiu-jitsu, you've.
- 56:10Speaker 19: Got wrestling, grappling, all of that.
- 56:12Speaker 1: It's all the physicality, and those gloves are like nothing.
- 56:16Speaker 1: But nobody's getting killed.
- 56:20Speaker 2: Yeah, on the financial show, John Arnold, he does that
- 56:24Speaker 2: jiu-jitsu stuff. And I'm telling you, even in training classes
- 56:28Speaker 2: that they go to and learn it.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:30Speaker 3: I mean, they kick the crap.
- 56:32Speaker 18: Out of you.
- 56:33Speaker 2: I mean, it is intense, man. I mean, when you
- 56:37Speaker 2: go there, it's not just all practice. Then there's these
- 56:40Speaker 2: matches where when you leave, you learn a lesson.
- 56:45Speaker 3: Let's put it that way.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Never say, I think John Earl once told me, never say, oh, okay,
- 56:51Speaker 2: this guy's a wimp. I'm going to get him because
- 56:53Speaker 2: if he's a guy that knows jujitsu, man, he'll kick
- 56:56Speaker 2: your ass.
- 56:56Speaker 1: I would even say wrestling. I'd say wrestling, even over boxing.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Because you just don't want to.
- 57:05Speaker 18: You could box.
- 57:05Speaker 1: That's great. Because you're going to get taken straight to
- 57:08Speaker 1: the ground and pounded on.
- 57:09Speaker 19: So hopefully you can fight off your back. Because if
- 57:12Speaker 19: you can't, you're in trouble.
- 57:15Speaker 10: I love it.
- 57:16Speaker 12: I love it.
- 57:16Speaker 3: The one and only Boss Lady. Thank you, Boss Lady.
- 57:19Speaker 4: All right. We'll be back.
- 57:22Speaker 9: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 57:25Speaker 3: Back to it. News Radio 570 WKVN. You're on the air.
- 57:28Speaker 12: Yes, hi Ron, how you doing?
- 57:30Speaker 3: Good.
- 57:32Speaker 12: The caller a couple callers ago was pessimistic on everything.
- 57:36Speaker 12: I'm pretty optimistic today after listening to an interview with
- 57:41Speaker 12: Ron Barron on the morning stock show where he purchased
- 57:47Speaker 12: 1 billion SpaceX shares and he lifted his total purchase
- 57:54Speaker 12: to 25 billion, but he is so... I don't know
- 57:57Speaker 12: if you know who Ron Barron is. He's the billionaire philanthropist.
- 58:02Speaker 12: He runs the Barron Mutual Funds. And he is very
- 58:07Speaker 12: optimistic on the country, and specifically because we have people
- 58:12Speaker 12: like Elon Musk who are changing everything for the better.
- 58:17Speaker 6: And..
- 58:20Speaker 12: He said he's so far ahead of everyone else. He's
- 58:24Speaker 12: 10 to 15 years ahead of everybody else. And he
- 58:32Speaker 12: gave a lot of positive points on the news. You
- 58:35Speaker 12: asked me last Friday, would you buy SpaceX? And I said, no,
- 58:38Speaker 12: I don't buy IPOs. And today it was up to,
- 58:42Speaker 12: I think it hit 192 today. It was up like 20%. 20%.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Okay, just back up for me a bit. So you
- 58:50Speaker 2: saw this guy on what was this guy's name?
- 58:53Speaker 12: Ron Barron. He's an 82-year-old. He's like Warren Buffett. He's
- 58:58Speaker 12: not as rich as Warren Buffett, but they have the
- 59:01Speaker 12: same philosophy. He's an old-timer, buy, hold, don't sell, don't
- 59:06Speaker 12: day trade, but hedge your stocks. He runs the baron
- 59:10Speaker 12: funds and uh... he gave uh... his insight into the
- 59:16Speaker 12: stock and what musk is doing and it's fascinating but uh...
- 59:21Speaker 12: he runs the baron capital that's the name of the
- 59:24Speaker 12: company but uh... he's not as rich as buffett But
- 59:29Speaker 12: he's very optimistic on the country going forward and the
- 59:33Speaker 12: stock market. But we're going to have a pullback or
- 59:38Speaker 12: a correction, but it's not going to be... I think
- 59:41Speaker 12: near term we're fine. I think it's going to be
- 59:43Speaker 12: six months out. I'm going to get away from Trump
- 59:48Speaker 12: and politics. But I was happy what happened. I was
- 59:51Speaker 12: happy with the deal. I was happy that oil was
- 59:55Speaker 12: coming down. That was one of the hurdles for the market,
- 1:00:00Speaker 12: the price of oil. And the IPO of SpaceX is over.
- 1:00:05Speaker 12: That was another big thing to digest for the market.
- 1:00:09Speaker 12: Now we'll see what happens. The third piece is the
- 1:00:12Speaker 12: Fed's comments next week. We'll see what happens. And on oil,
- 1:00:17Speaker 12: I wish you'd have Mr. Leiden call in and explain
- 1:00:20Speaker 12: to everybody. He used to call once in a while.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: So you're saying..
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: Just so I'm digesting this correctly, because you're a smart guy,
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: you're saying that you're comfortable with buying SpaceX, right?
- 1:00:38Speaker 12: No, just the opposite. I wouldn't buy SpaceX. The ordinary
- 1:00:42Speaker 12: person shouldn't buy an individual stock. 99% of the people
- 1:00:47Speaker 12: just buy a mutual fund or have an expert, have
- 1:00:50Speaker 12: a pro do it for you. What I'm going to
- 1:00:53Speaker 12: do is I'm waiting tomorrow for the options to open
- 1:00:56Speaker 12: so I can look at the options chain tomorrow morning,
- 1:00:59Speaker 12: and then I'll make my determination what I'm going to
- 1:01:02Speaker 12: do with SpaceX with options. What's going to happen with SpaceX,
- 1:01:07Speaker 12: you're okay from now until the lockup expires, which will
- 1:01:12Speaker 12: be six months out, when all of the insiders that
- 1:01:15Speaker 12: bought at the IPO price of $ 135 a share will
- 1:01:20Speaker 12: be allowed to sell their shares. Right now, they're prohibited
- 1:01:24Speaker 12: from selling their shares. They have to hold them for
- 1:01:26Speaker 12: a six-month period. So once that lockup hits, you're going
- 1:01:30Speaker 12: to release a massive supply of SpaceX, and it's going
- 1:01:35Speaker 12: to be very volatile. The price could drop down. But
- 1:01:39Speaker 12: what I'm going to be doing is doing monthly options
- 1:01:42Speaker 12: on it for the next two to three or four months,
- 1:01:47Speaker 12: not buying the stock itself, just selling the options. cash-secured
- 1:01:52Speaker 12: put options on it and get paid to buy the
- 1:01:55Speaker 12: stock if it does hit that premium or strike price.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure this all out. I mean, so
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: there's huge... Just help me with what I'm not grasping here.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: SpaceX and Elon Musk and SpaceX has a huge following.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: So there's huge demand for that stock from the IPO, right?
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: I mean, there's huge demand. Everybody wants it at whatever
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: the price was, what, $ 130?
- 1:02:20Speaker 12: It opened at $ 150 yesterday.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Okay, but everyone wants it and... And so they want
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: to get a piece of it. Some people even say
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: it will merge with Tesla.
- 1:02:33Speaker 12: It's going to merge with Tesla in a year. It's
- 1:02:36Speaker 12: like a 90% probability.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Oh, okay. So if you wanted to buy it today,
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: how much would it cost today?
- 1:02:44Speaker 12: Well, you can buy it right now. In the aftermarket,
- 1:02:48Speaker 12: if you're qualified to buy in the aftermarket, you can
- 1:02:51Speaker 12: trade from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: Well, forget the aftermarket. For regular people, what would they
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: have to pay to buy it?
- 1:02:57Speaker 12: $ 192.
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: 50.
- 1:02:58Speaker 12: And in after hours, it's up another $ 0.
- 1:03:01Speaker 8: 94 to $ 193.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: 44.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:03:01Speaker 12: Now, just bear with me with your expertise.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: So do you think, I'm just asking you, because you're
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: a smart guy. So do you think it's worth buying
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: tomorrow on a regular market at $ 195?
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: $ 195.
- 1:03:23Speaker 12: I don't know. Don't have a crystal ball, and I'm
- 1:03:25Speaker 12: not a day trader.
- 1:03:26Speaker 18: I'm an old..
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Okay, but I'm not asking about day trading.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: I'm saying, do you think if you could buy it
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: for $ 195, it's worth buying and holding and not trading
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: it off six months from now or a year from
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: now or two years from now?
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: I mean, perhaps sitting on it for years.
- 1:03:44Speaker 12: Well, here's what I would do, and there are no
- 1:03:47Speaker 12: analyst price targets out. You know what I do every morning, Ron?
- 1:03:51Speaker 12: I get up at 8 o'clock and I check the market.
- 1:03:53Speaker 12: I check the options chains. But the most important thing
- 1:03:56Speaker 12: I do, I follow probably 30 or 40 brokerage firms, analysts,
- 1:04:03Speaker 12: that give price targets on all the stocks I hold.
- 1:04:07Speaker 12: It's a company like Oppenheimer, Barclays, Bernstein, Canaccord, Morgan Stanley,
- 1:04:13Speaker 12: Goldman Sachs, Piper Sandler. I keep a notebook and a
- 1:04:18Speaker 12: ledger every day. Upgrade, downgrades on price targets with the,
- 1:04:22Speaker 12: you know, I don't have time and I don't have
- 1:04:26Speaker 12: the expertise to go through the financials of every market.
- 1:04:30Speaker 12: But I rely on these analysts that are hired by
- 1:04:34Speaker 12: these firms to do it. And usually these guys are
- 1:04:36Speaker 12: pretty good. And what I do, I throw out the
- 1:04:40Speaker 12: top 5% and the bottom 5%. I take an average
- 1:04:44Speaker 12: of the price target for the stock. And then I
- 1:04:48Speaker 12: go to the options chains and I see what the
- 1:04:51Speaker 12: options guys are saying the price of the stock is
- 1:04:54Speaker 12: going to be worth in a month, three months, four months.
- 1:04:58Speaker 12: And that's how I make my determination. So SpaceX, I
- 1:05:01Speaker 12: don't know. I'm waiting for an analyst to come out
- 1:05:05Speaker 12: and give its target. But what I'm really interested in
- 1:05:08Speaker 12: is the options chains tomorrow morning. That'll give you an
- 1:05:13Speaker 12: indication of what they think. But companies like I mean,
- 1:05:18Speaker 12: I got.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: To tell you this. I mean, just in a conversation,
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: I'm surprised. I mean, I don't know even if you,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: I don't even know if I should say this, but
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: you've made huge amounts of money in the stock market.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: You're just a regular guy, but you made just a
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: phenomenal amount of money with your brain power.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: And so I say to you, I'm surprised. I thought
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: for certain.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: You would be trying to buy SpaceX as soon as
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: you could just to sit on it for a year
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: or two or whatever.
- 1:05:53Speaker 12: I'll wait. I keep my powder dry, and I wait
- 1:05:57Speaker 12: for information and news that gives me an insight. And
- 1:06:01Speaker 12: like I say, I will buy it on a pullback.
- 1:06:04Speaker 12: I mean, this morning it opened at 171, but it
- 1:06:07Speaker 12: pulled back to 168 about an hour later. So you
- 1:06:13Speaker 12: could have waited for that little pullback.
- 1:06:15Speaker 11: At uh..
- 1:06:16Speaker 12: Ten o'clock or ten fifteen but uh... never never paid
- 1:06:23Speaker 12: never by iran always try to by the discount and
- 1:06:27Speaker 12: always try to get paid to to buy the stock
- 1:06:31Speaker 12: and that's what i'm going to do with spacex i
- 1:06:33Speaker 12: have a lot of tesla so i'm not worried i
- 1:06:36Speaker 12: have a lot of tesla and i have tesla options
- 1:06:39Speaker 12: and i'm very happy with it and uh... Like I say,
- 1:06:43Speaker 12: I'm happy with what Trump did with the deal, and
- 1:06:46Speaker 12: it seems to calm the market down. You could see
- 1:06:48Speaker 12: how it reacted, and I'm pretty optimistic.
- 1:06:55Speaker 9: On it.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: So you are not going to buy any tomorrow, you
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: don't think, or the next day?
- 1:07:02Speaker 12: No, you know why it's going up so much so fast?
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: Yeah, demand. Everyone's talking about it, and everyone wants to
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: buy it.
- 1:07:10Speaker 12: Well, it's going to be included in the NASDAQ. You
- 1:07:12Speaker 12: have to wait 15 days for an IPO before it's
- 1:07:15Speaker 12: included in the NASDAQ 100. So a lot of these
- 1:07:18Speaker 12: hedge funds and fund managers are buying ahead of that
- 1:07:21Speaker 12: because they're going to have to own SpaceX because it
- 1:07:25Speaker 12: will be in the NASDAQ 100. So they're trying to
- 1:07:28Speaker 12: buy it now before it goes any higher. And then
- 1:07:32Speaker 12: you have the little guy that has the FOMO. the
- 1:07:35Speaker 12: fear of missing out, and it's like a gambling addiction
- 1:07:39Speaker 12: to them. They get caught up in it. Never get
- 1:07:41Speaker 12: caught up in a stock, you know, with all the hype.
- 1:07:46Speaker 12: Just wait, and wait for your opportunities to present themselves.
- 1:07:50Speaker 12: But like I say, that's what I'll do tomorrow. I'll
- 1:07:53Speaker 12: see what the options change, say, tomorrow morning, and I'll
- 1:07:59Speaker 12: make my determination then. But it'll pull back. It's not
- 1:08:02Speaker 12: going to keep, you know... It was priced at $ 135 billion.
- 1:08:09Speaker 12: And that's where Barron bought his. He bought a billion
- 1:08:14Speaker 12: dollars at $ 135 billion. And it raised his total stake
- 1:08:18Speaker 12: now in SpaceX's $ 25 billion.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: Who's Barron? Barron Trump?
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: What's that?
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: Who's Barron? Barron Trump?
- 1:08:26Speaker 12: No, Warren Barron. The head of the Barron Funds, I
- 1:08:29Speaker 12: was telling you about. His reasons were, he said Musk is...
- 1:08:34Speaker 12: 10 to 15 years ahead of everybody as far as
- 1:08:38Speaker 12: making satellites, building rockets, building networks.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Okay, so this Ron Barron that you follow, he bought, what,
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: a million dollars worth?
- 1:08:49Speaker 6: A billion.
- 1:08:50Speaker 12: He bought that on the IPO, the day of the IPO.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: How could he be entitled to buy a billion dollars
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: of stock at the IPO?
- 1:08:59Speaker 20: Because?
- 1:09:00Speaker 12: People that have... Here you go. People that are employees
- 1:09:04Speaker 12: of SpaceX, they have options on the stock. People that
- 1:09:08Speaker 12: are large mutual fund companies... They deal through the brokerage firms.
- 1:09:16Speaker 12: These people, you don't and I don't have access to
- 1:09:19Speaker 12: buying these stocks at the price that it comes out.
- 1:09:23Speaker 12: And it was priced at $ 135.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: But because of his..
- 1:09:29Speaker 12: Because of his connections and his... Yeah, he's one of
- 1:09:34Speaker 12: the guys.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: Okay, so did you say he bought a billion dollars worth?
- 1:09:39Speaker 12: He placed a billion dollar order... And it was filled
- 1:09:43Speaker 12: at $ 135 on the day of the IPO. But SpaceX
- 1:09:49Speaker 12: opened at $ 150. It took so long to open because
- 1:09:52Speaker 12: there was such an imbalance in orders. Originally, Musk was
- 1:09:58Speaker 12: trying to get it. It was priced lower than $ 135.
- 1:10:02Speaker 12: But they agreed on that $ 135 price. But then when
- 1:10:05Speaker 12: it opened, it opened at $ 150. And that's what you
- 1:10:09Speaker 12: could have paid for, not the $ 135, 000, because you're not
- 1:10:12Speaker 12: in the club and we're not billionaires.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I'm not. I don't know about you, but
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: you're close. So, Ian, you didn't buy any at $ 150, 000.
- 1:10:23Speaker 12: I didn't buy any. No, I have no SpaceX whatsoever. Tomorrow,
- 1:10:29Speaker 12: I'll be looking at it tomorrow morning on the options chains,
- 1:10:32Speaker 12: and I'll see if I want to do any options
- 1:10:34Speaker 12: on it. But what I did today... With the deal
- 1:10:38Speaker 12: that Trump made, I was writing covered calls on all
- 1:10:41Speaker 12: of my positions to generate extra dividends or cash on
- 1:10:47Speaker 12: all of my tech holdings because they popped up so much.
- 1:10:50Speaker 12: That's when you write covered calls. And I did one-month
- 1:10:54Speaker 12: contracts on a lot of companies.
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: What are covered calls?
- 1:10:58Speaker 12: All right, if you own, say you own Apple at
- 1:11:01Speaker 12: $ 200 a share, okay? And you want to write a
- 1:11:06Speaker 12: covered call on it. You can sell a contract for
- 1:11:11Speaker 12: a month out and make your strike price $ 250. And
- 1:11:14Speaker 12: for selling that contract, you'll be paid a premium. One
- 1:11:24Speaker 12: contract is equal to an underlying 100 shares of the company.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: Yeah, you're so over my head with that.
- 1:11:31Speaker 12: The thing is, you'll make a lot of money. You
- 1:11:34Speaker 12: can make like $ 1, 000, $ 2, 000 selling one contract on these
- 1:11:39Speaker 12: tech companies. And the more volatile the company is, the
- 1:11:42Speaker 12: higher the premium, but it's another... I don't want to
- 1:11:46Speaker 12: get into it.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: Right, but the market is way up today.
- 1:11:50Speaker 8: So..
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: What do you think is going to happen to the markets?
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: Do you ever foresee it like when you should do
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: wealth preservation, sit on the sidelines in a market like this?
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:10Speaker 12: Oh, yeah. That's what I said. If you follow– I
- 1:12:13Speaker 12: follow an expert, Tom Lee, from Fundstrat, and he's been
- 1:12:17Speaker 12: calling for a correction this year, but he said not
- 1:12:21Speaker 12: near term. He says we're okay, and he– more or
- 1:12:24Speaker 12: less gave the same reasons that this baron was talking
- 1:12:27Speaker 12: about this morning. He said the IPO is over for SpaceX,
- 1:12:31Speaker 12: oil's coming down, looks like there's going to be a
- 1:12:34Speaker 12: resolution in the war if the Israelis don't throw a
- 1:12:38Speaker 12: monkey wrench like they tried to sabotage Trump with attacking Lebanon.
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: On his birthday.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Yeah, those are all good signs, right?
- 1:12:46Speaker 18: Yes, yes.
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: So..
- 1:12:49Speaker 12: Tom Lee, this guy, he's a Chinese analyst who runs Fundstrat.
- 1:12:55Speaker 12: Guy is super smart. I've been following him for over
- 1:12:59Speaker 12: 15 years. He's one of the top people. I mean,
- 1:13:03Speaker 12: he's called everything right. And he sees, you know, good
- 1:13:10Speaker 12: things for the market. We're going to have a little
- 1:13:12Speaker 12: digestion six months out. And then we're going to have the–
- 1:13:17Speaker 12: he's calling for the best two years of all times
- 1:13:21Speaker 12: for the market. And, you know, that made me feel good.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: All right, hang on. Don't go anywhere, all right? Just
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: hang on. I want to pick his brain some more.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: Back in just a minute. Stay tuned.
- 1:13:32Speaker 13: Youngstown's News, Weather, and Talk Station, 570 WKBN.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: All right. So you'll know tomorrow if you buy any SpaceX, right?
- 1:13:45Speaker 12: If I sell any options on SpaceX, I'll know tomorrow morning.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Okay, now I'm just going to try. Do you anticipate
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: that you'll buy any SpaceX stock, period?
- 1:13:58Speaker 12: Oh, yes.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: Yes. Okay, that's what I'm asking.
- 1:14:01Speaker 12: I'll buy SpaceX before it merges, but I won't be paying.
- 1:14:04Speaker 12: I'll be buying it on a pullback, or I'll be
- 1:14:07Speaker 12: paid to buy it through an option.
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: But..
- 1:14:12Speaker 12: That that's boring stuff but but before i go i'd
- 1:14:15Speaker 12: just want to say real quick i don't know if
- 1:14:17Speaker 12: you know who for reads the car he is yes
- 1:14:19Speaker 12: i do okay he was i'd almost fell out of
- 1:14:22Speaker 12: the chair when i saw he was on cnn and
- 1:14:25Speaker 12: he was actually knocking california and gavin newsom he said
- 1:14:32Speaker 12: people can't afford to live in california they have a
- 1:14:35Speaker 12: failed democratic system he said their education system the homelessness
- 1:14:41Speaker 12: high taxes And two million people leaving in over seven years.
- 1:14:46Speaker 12: He just raked the Democrats over the coal. And I
- 1:14:50Speaker 12: can't believe this guy, because he's a left-wing liberal from PBS, CNN,
- 1:14:55Speaker 12: and all the other shows. But it's just showing you
- 1:14:58Speaker 12: how bad. This made me optimistic, too, when I saw
- 1:15:02Speaker 12: this guy, who's a Democrat, criticizing his party.
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: Call me tomorrow.
- 1:15:08Speaker 10: All right?
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: Okay, Ron.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: Appreciate it. Back in a minute.
- 1:15:15Speaker 14: From ABC News, I'm.
- 1:15:18Speaker 21: Lindsay Davis, anchor of Prime Streaming Weeknights on ABC News Live.
- 1:15:22Speaker 21: World leaders are gathering in the French Alps for the
- 1:15:24Speaker 21: G7 summit. It's the first time leaders have met since
- 1:15:27Speaker 21: the start of the U.S.-Iran war. President Trump signaled a
- 1:15:29Speaker 21: peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran could be finalized
- 1:15:32Speaker 21: by the end of the week. The president, while meeting
- 1:15:34Speaker 21: with France's leader, says the deal would extend the ceasefire
- 1:15:37Speaker 21: for 60 days, reopen the Strait of.
- 1:15:38Speaker 14: Hormuz, and talks will begin on Iran's nuclear program.
- 1:15:41Speaker 16: The main thing is that Iran will not have a
- 1:15:43Speaker 16: nuclear weapon. I fully agree to that with strong policing powers.
- 1:15:48Speaker 21: President Trump also spoke about Ukraine and Russia, saying both
- 1:15:51Speaker 21: sides appear ready to end hostilities. Russia carried out a
- 1:15:55Speaker 21: deadly attack in Ukraine's capital. President Zelensky says Russian drones
- 1:15:58Speaker 21: struck an 11th century Christian Orthodox monastery, which is also
- 1:16:02Speaker 21: a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ABC's Tom Sufibird says Russia
- 1:16:06Speaker 21: is claiming without evidence that a U.S.-made Patriot air defense
- 1:16:09Speaker 21: missile was responsible.
- 1:16:10Speaker 22: The simple fact is that Russia fired hundreds of drones
- 1:16:13Speaker 22: at the Ukrainian capital overnight, dozens of missiles. Ukraine certainly
- 1:16:17Speaker 22: did use Patriot interceptors to shoot.
- 1:16:19Speaker 9: Down some of those missiles.
- 1:16:21Speaker 22: But the idea that one of these malfunctioned and hit
- 1:16:24Speaker 22: the cathedral itself is very hard to believe.
- 1:16:26Speaker 21: The New York Knicks are still celebrating after beating the
- 1:16:29Speaker 21: San Antonio Spurs in Game 5, becoming the NBA champs
- 1:16:32Speaker 21: for the first time in more than 50 years. New
- 1:16:35Speaker 21: York City's Mayor Zoran Mamdani announced the Knicks will be honored.
- 1:16:38Speaker 14: With a ticker tape parade this Thursday.
- 1:16:40Speaker 21: Mamdani also addressed pockets of violence and dozens of arrests
- 1:16:43Speaker 21: following the Knicks' win.
- 1:16:44Speaker 10: There were a select number of New Yorkers who celebrated
- 1:16:49Speaker 10: in a way that was frankly unacceptable.
- 1:16:51Speaker 9: It was not celebration, it was an.
- 1:16:52Speaker 10: Excuse, whether it be to attack someone around them or
- 1:16:57Speaker 10: to be violent even towards our police officers.
- 1:16:59Speaker 21: The mayor says the city is taking every precaution to
- 1:17:02Speaker 21: ensure the parade is safe. Crowds will line the famed
- 1:17:04Speaker 21: Canyon of Heroes to celebrate the win and their favorite players.
- 1:17:08Speaker 14: You're listening to ABC News.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: Ron Furp from the Kingdom of Mahoning. Till the financial
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: show tonight at 6 o'clock. Rockport Wealth Truth and Investing Program. Tonight,
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: 6 to 7. On News Radio 570 WKBN. I'll be
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: curious to talk to that guy. That guy I was
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: talking to prior to the break at 5. There's a
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: lot I want to talk to him about. But this
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: SpaceX IPO that came out. And everybody wants a chunk
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: of it at 1.30. And he said, well..
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: You know, the IPO, you could buy it at like $ 150.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: And the demand has got to be so huge. And
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: I don't know that the demand is huge from people
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: that just want to buy it and sell it. I
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: think a lot of people want to buy it and
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: hang on to it because it's Elon Musk, it's SpaceX,
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: and they say it could merge with Tesla and this
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: kind of stuff. And it's one of them that you
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: just say to yourself, this thing could– who knows where
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: this could go? I mean, like anything, a stock market,
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: it's a gamble. But it could– It can make you
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: some significant money maybe. So I'm going to pick his
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: brain on that. That guy tomorrow, I'm going to pick
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: his brain on it more. Believe me when I tell you,
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: he is not a financial guy, professional financial guy. But
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: believe me when I tell you, he is an investor
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: that has made huge amounts of money.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: But when he starts.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: Talking about some of that stuff, it's so far over
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: my head on money. other than buying and selling when
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: you get into the puts and all this kind of stuff.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: That's a whole different realm. But anyway, I'll continue. Hopefully,
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: you call me tomorrow. I want to talk to him
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: more about that and a few other things. It's going
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: to be interesting to see where things are going. I mean,
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: when people are talking about this situation as far as
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: the deal with Trump, we don't know enough of the
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: details yet. Make no mistake about it. I want this
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: thing to conclude. I mean, there's no question in my
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: mind that Trump's back is up against the wall, too.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: And he knows he's got to reach an agreement because
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: we're close to what they call tank bottom as far
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: as their supplies are concerned. If this thing would drag on,
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: we will have big problems as far as inflation and
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: the cost of energy, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel. It can
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: get a whole lot worse. And there's other issues, fertilizer
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: and what have you, with the Strait. So there could
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: be many things that would be of concern if this
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: thing would go on. So nothing pleases me more than
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: if we can reach an agreement, even if it isn't
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: the perfect agreement, if we can reach an agreement to
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: open up the Strait with no tolls and work at
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: resolving this issue. so that we can get back to normal,
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: if you will, and Trump can concentrate more on the
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: American agenda. Let's get inflation in line, affordability, as they say.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Let's get energy prices down. Can you imagine if this
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: whole situation would have never started in Iran, since we
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: saw inflation coming down, and we also happen to see
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: gasoline prices in my neck of the woods here around
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: $ 2. 50 and declining, where we would be financially stable? if
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: this thing ever happened in the first place. As I've
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: said to you numerous times, I was not staying up
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: at night worried about Iran and the nuclear threat. It
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: wasn't on my radar screen. I wasn't worried about it then,
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: not worried about it now. I think the bunker buster
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: did its job. I mean, when they're talking about the dust,
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: whatever the hell they're going on with the dust, it's
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: buried down there. And with our satellite images, I don't
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: think it's much of a concern as far as what
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: they're up to. So as I've said to you before,
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: I think he got involved in this because of Netanyahu,
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: in my opinion. And I certainly would like to see it,
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: them not drag us back into it. I want to
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: see Trump stand tall against that and say, listen, we
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: got to get out in America's best interest and get
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: the straight open, get energy prices down, work on inflation.
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: And if they say they got an agreement that's been what,
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: like digitally signed as, As I understand it, and I
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: guess J.D. Vance will be going for the official signing,
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: and hopefully things will work out.
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: You're on air.
- 1:21:41Speaker 18: I'll believe it when I see it.
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: Well, I can't fault you for that, but let's be
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: more positive than negative. Hopefully that will happen this week
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: when the details.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: Will come out.
- 1:21:53Speaker 7: I've been positive 35 times.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're right about that. So let's see what happens.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: I'm not arguing with you. I want to see it too.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: I'm optimistic more so this time than ever.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Oh, good.
- 1:22:09Speaker 6: I'm glad you are.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: I mean, I would like to see it work out
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: for everybody involved.
- 1:22:16Speaker 12: So would I.
- 1:22:18Speaker 7: But until then, I don't want to.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: In other words, you've been told there's an agreement so
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: many times, you're skeptical this time until... Of course, they
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: say it was digitally signed, J.J., the liberal. They say
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: it was all digitally signed off.
- 1:22:30Speaker 20: What does digitally signed mean?
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: What the hell does that mean?
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: Well, it's like, have you ever done a real estate
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: thing where you docusign, where you electronically sign instead of
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: in person?
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: That's what that means.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: But..
- 1:22:41Speaker 20: I'm... You know, whatever. You know, because I owe you
- 1:22:49Speaker 20: a If it does, I owe you a gallon of..
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: Milo's... Listen to me, JJ.
- 1:22:55Speaker 18: I've got to save my pennies. Yes. I've got to
- 1:22:58Speaker 18: get that..
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: Now, here's how it works, though, because it's $ 4. 20 a gallon.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: It's Milo's unsweet tea, and it's kept in a refrigerated
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: section at Meijer, where I get it. And you've got
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: to keep it refrigerated, because you can't have iced tea
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: getting warm.
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: I mean..
- 1:23:16Speaker 18: It'll be cooler with me, so I'll make sure that
- 1:23:18Speaker 18: I deliver it. It'll be ice cold.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: I tell you what.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, I want you to buy it,
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: and I want you to drink the unsweet tea.
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: All right?
- 1:23:26Speaker 20: No, no, no.
- 1:23:27Speaker 18: I'll just buy it, or I'll send you a money
- 1:23:30Speaker 18: order for $ 4 and some cents so you can buy yourself.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: That's all right.
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: Maybe I'll take, like with Elon Musk in the IPO,
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: I'll take one of the space paintings that you're doing.
- 1:23:41Speaker 18: Yeah, that's right. I just want to say one thing
- 1:23:45Speaker 18: that's kind of off subject a little bit.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: You sound depressed to me today.
- 1:23:51Speaker 18: The other day, you know, I kind of, you know,
- 1:23:54Speaker 18: I opened my mouth about the young man who killed
- 1:23:58Speaker 18: one teenager, killed the other teenager. And I still stand.
- 1:24:02Speaker 19: By my, you know, I believe that was a little bit.
- 1:24:05Speaker 18: Over with the... The sentence, I thought it was, you know,
- 1:24:12Speaker 18: a little bit long. But again, you know, I'm just me.
- 1:24:14Speaker 18: So I really don't have a really a say in it. But,
- 1:24:18Speaker 18: you know, I know that.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: Wait a second. Wait a second.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: This is what this is what drives me crazy with you,
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: because because you you merely said and I'll quote you
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: to you. You said you thought that the 35-year sentence
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: for this young man was too long, that he should
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: get punished and hopefully be rehabilitated to where he realized
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: he was young and dumb and did a stupid thing,
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: to where there's some degree of hope to get out
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: at some point. and maybe live the rest of your
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: life as a law-abiding citizen. And you were attacked for
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: that by people that were saying, yeah, but the other
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: kid will always be dead.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: The other kid will always be dead. I would never
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: want him to see the light of day if it
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: was me because of what he did. But that's really
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: what you said. And I don't think it's a horrific
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: thing to say that you think, okay, perhaps he can
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: be punished and rehabilitated because he's young and old.
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: And we'll realize the real.
- 1:25:18Speaker 18: Thing is, is that I had a I actually thought
- 1:25:20Speaker 18: long and hard because I was thinking to myself, you know,
- 1:25:22Speaker 18: somebody brought to my attention that they came over to
- 1:25:25Speaker 18: my house and they stabbed my son in the chest,
- 1:25:27Speaker 18: my seven year old autistic son in the chest.
- 1:25:30Speaker 7: But how would I feel about that?
- 1:25:32Speaker 18: And my heart was broken.
- 1:25:33Speaker 7: You know that conservative you're listening. You broke my heart.
- 1:25:38Speaker 7: Why would you say that to me?
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: I didn't say that.
- 1:25:42Speaker 7: I don't think there's no excuse for it. Why would
- 1:25:45Speaker 7: you say that to me?
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: I didn't say that to you.
- 1:25:47Speaker 7: No, you didn't say that to me. He said that
- 1:25:50Speaker 7: to me. I have to give you credit because you
- 1:25:53Speaker 7: tried to change the subject, but that idiot continued on it. Now,
- 1:25:58Speaker 7: if I'm attacking him and you want to hang up
- 1:25:59Speaker 7: on me, go right ahead. But that was unnecessary, uncalled for,
- 1:26:04Speaker 7: and he broke my heart. He won't break me, but
- 1:26:07Speaker 7: he broke my heart. And I'm just, I love the
- 1:26:11Speaker 7: things that I've done and said.
- 1:26:12Speaker 18: Just pause for a second.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: I understand your frustration. I don't think the guy... Well,
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: hang on a minute and give me a second. I
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: think the guy was trying to say, I think this
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: is all he was saying. He was only saying, if
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: it was done to your son, would you have that
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: same thought that the guy should get out of prison immediately?
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: Instead of serving his 35 years. That's all he was saying.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: He wasn't trying to be mean-spirited or wishing it on you.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: He was saying, how would anyone feel if that was
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: done to their child? Would they say, oh, it's okay
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: to get out before the 35 years? That's all the
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: caller was saying. Don't take it so personal.
- 1:26:50Speaker 18: You guys can spin.
- 1:26:51Speaker 7: It any way you want.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: Well, that's how it is.
- 1:26:53Speaker 18: If I would have said that, you would never let
- 1:26:56Speaker 18: me call back again.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: No, no. Listen, I think you're taking it.
- 1:27:02Speaker 7: I've been suing over that for three days. Three days
- 1:27:05Speaker 7: I've been suing over that.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: Well, stop suing.
- 1:27:07Speaker 18: That really made me change my mind because I thought
- 1:27:10Speaker 18: about coming over and stabbing my son in his heart.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Well, that's what the caller was trying to say. If
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: that happened to your child, would you be saying that
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: he should get out before the 35 years are done?
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:27:22Speaker 18: Well, that's your... I've been one time threatened before not
- 1:27:26Speaker 18: to ever call back again. And I went against my word. But,
- 1:27:30Speaker 18: you know, just sit there and... Don't let that guy..
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: Don't let that... Don't let that person get under your skin.
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: Don't let that get under your skin.
- 1:27:42Speaker 7: It's always me.
- 1:27:43Speaker 18: It's always me that's too sensitive.
- 1:27:45Speaker 7: It's always me.
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: It's always me.
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: You're letting him get the best of you. You're letting
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: him get the best of you. Don't do that.
- 1:27:53Speaker 7: Don't do the best of me. That won't.
- 1:27:56Speaker 18: I just thought that was, you know, maybe that is
- 1:27:59Speaker 18: the kind of, you know, I'll tell you, that just
- 1:28:02Speaker 18: proves the example of how it's now my fault. Instead
- 1:28:06Speaker 18: of correcting him, it was my fault. And I just
- 1:28:09Speaker 18: find that just irreprehensible. And, you know, I don't wish
- 1:28:13Speaker 18: that upon anybody.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: I don't think he was wishing it upon you. I
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: don't think he was wishing it upon you. He was
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: just trying to use..
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: Okay, well, there you go.
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: You're on the air.
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: You're on the air.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: Ron!
- 1:28:32Speaker 23: Yeah, nine. They go away nine games. I still think
- 1:28:35Speaker 23: they're going to be okay. They're doing good.
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: Our guardians. The guardians. Yes, yes, yes.
- 1:28:42Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:28:43Speaker 6: Now. What?
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: The Spurs. Now, Dick from Dayton, my official sports prognosticator.
- 1:28:51Speaker 19: Yes.
- 1:28:51Speaker 11: Yes.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: We're the only program that keeps you as a sports prognosticator,
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: even when you get a whole season wrong. We don't
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: bail on you like others would and say, he's no good,
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: we're done with him. We're loyal around here. We keep
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: you on board. My official sports prognosticator, you must admit,
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: I mean, when New York... And folks, I don't know
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: what there is about winning a basketball finale that makes
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: people go out and the mayhem that they caused..
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: Almost like a riot in New York. This is uncalled for.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: I mean, I don't get it when your team wins
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: and you decide to go on out and basically have
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: civil disobedience and create a riot like stuff. I don't
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: go for that at all.
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: And I'm sure my sports prognosticator, the legendary Dick from Dayton,
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: does not support that.
- 1:29:44Speaker 19: Nope.
- 1:29:45Speaker 6: Nope. That was bad.
- 1:29:46Speaker 23: Yeah, I agree with you, but Yeah, I'm just thinking, too,
- 1:29:50Speaker 23: and I wish they would quit talking in Cleveland about
- 1:29:53Speaker 23: who's going to be the quarterback. They keep on every
- 1:29:57Speaker 23: day about that, and Miles Garrett, and let it go.
- 1:30:01Speaker 23: Let them have a season, for God's sake.
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: I'm going to go on a long shot for quarterback.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: You know who I think is going to get it?
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: Who, Sanders?
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: Brian Seip.
- 1:30:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:30:13Speaker 23: Hey, you know who I would vote for, remember? He
- 1:30:16Speaker 23: was one of the best from your town. I like
- 1:30:19Speaker 23: Bernie Kosar. He was good.
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: Bernie's been through it, though, man. He has definitely been
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: through it. It's a damn shame. It really is.
- 1:30:29Speaker 7: It is.
- 1:30:29Speaker 23: He's a great guy.
- 1:30:30Speaker 7: Well, have a good day.
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: Thank you. It's Dick from Dayton. You're on the air.
- 1:30:35Speaker 8: You going to let me talk today without screaming at
- 1:30:38Speaker 8: me and cutting me off?
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: I don't know. It depends if you rile me up.
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: Did you buy SpaceX?
- 1:30:47Speaker 8: No, I did not. I began my career at an
- 1:30:53Speaker 8: investment banking firm. We took companies public every month. We
- 1:30:59Speaker 8: did an IPO every month. And the way it worked
- 1:31:02Speaker 8: is we would offer our best clients, the one that
- 1:31:07Speaker 8: did the most trading for us, at pre-IPO prices. Like
- 1:31:12Speaker 8: that guy was saying, SpaceX went public at $ 150 a share,
- 1:31:18Speaker 8: but a brokerage firm, their best clients, however many shares
- 1:31:23Speaker 8: they were allocated, they would offer it to them for
- 1:31:27Speaker 8: $ 135 a share. So when SpaceX went public at $ 150,
- 1:31:28Speaker 8: they automatically had a $ 15 a share profit. SpaceX went
- 1:31:39Speaker 8: up to $ 164. 95 at the end of trading Friday.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:31:46Speaker 8: And it closed at $ 192. 50 a share today, almost a 25% profit.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Right, but I mean, do you wish you would have bought?
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: Stand by, stand by, stand by. Okay, Fort Lauderdale, Frank,
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: back with him. On NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 1:32:04Speaker 9: Stay with us. 570 WKBN.
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: And you're Fearless Leader on Verb 524, NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: It's 68 degrees. Where is Fort Lauderdale? Fort Lauderdale. Not you.
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: Frank?
- 1:32:19Speaker 5: That's not you.
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: Fort Lauderdale. You're not Fort Lauderdale. Fort Lauderdale.
- 1:32:28Speaker 8: Yeah, it's me.
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: All right, so do you wish you would have bought SpaceX?
- 1:32:34Speaker 8: Well, I tried to buy it Friday, but I was
- 1:32:38Speaker 8: waiting for a pullback and never pulled back.
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: Now, did you buy any today?
- 1:32:45Speaker 8: No, same thing.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: You couldn't get it?
- 1:32:51Speaker 8: Well, I couldn't get it at the pre-IPO, so I
- 1:32:54Speaker 8: had to wait for it to go public in order
- 1:32:56Speaker 8: to buy it. But let me say one thing. The
- 1:33:00Speaker 8: general investing public has speculative fever. Anthropic and Sam Altman's
- 1:33:09Speaker 8: OpenAI are scheduled to go public next month. And I
- 1:33:14Speaker 8: remember the dot-com bubble. Same thing. There were companies that
- 1:33:19Speaker 8: went public that had nothing to do with technology. They
- 1:33:23Speaker 8: would just say, RonVerba.com. And people would buy it without
- 1:33:29Speaker 8: even knowing what the hell the company did.
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: I'm sure there's a lot of that with Elon Musk
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: and SpaceX, just because it's Elon Musk.
- 1:33:38Speaker 8: Well, I'm glad you mentioned that, because that other gentleman
- 1:33:42Speaker 8: says he owns Tesla and he's happy. But let me
- 1:33:47Speaker 8: say this first. When I was a private equity broker,
- 1:33:51Speaker 8: my firm offered SpaceX shares to accredited investors.
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: Now..
- 1:33:57Speaker 8: And accredited investors, they had to prove that they made
- 1:34:02Speaker 8: at least $ 250, 000 a year or had a net worth
- 1:34:06Speaker 8: of $ 1 million in order to buy private equity shares.
- 1:34:11Speaker 8: And some brokerage firms like Fidelity, you have to buy
- 1:34:15Speaker 8: a minimum of $ 250, 000 worth of a private equity company
- 1:34:19Speaker 8: like SpaceX. Now, the pre-IPO... had a $ 1. 75 trillion target
- 1:34:31Speaker 8: valuation for SpaceX, the largest in history. Now let's compare
- 1:34:36Speaker 8: that to NVIDIA's current market cap of $ 4. 28 trillion. SpaceX, Ron,
- 1:34:44Speaker 8: is losing $ 5 billion a year. Most people with pension plans, 401ks,
- 1:34:52Speaker 8: and IRAs are now invested in in a highly speculative
- 1:34:57Speaker 8: stock called spacex in musk is saying he's considering merging
- 1:35:03Speaker 8: spacex with uh... tesla yeah another money loser now i'll
- 1:35:08Speaker 8: give musk a lot of credit a brilliant brilliant investor
- 1:35:14Speaker 8: musk obviously thinks the market is speaking in may soon
- 1:35:18Speaker 8: crash so he went public to get the maximum amount
- 1:35:22Speaker 8: of money from a global investment public And a lot
- 1:35:26Speaker 8: of people don't know, Ron, SpaceX is really a three-company
- 1:35:30Speaker 8: conglomerate that includes Starlink and XAI. Now, last year, these
- 1:35:38Speaker 8: three companies combined reported a total loss of $ 5 billion
- 1:35:43Speaker 8: on revenues of $ 18. 5 billion and must have succeeded in
- 1:35:49Speaker 8: getting the Dow Jones, the S & P 500, and
- 1:35:51Speaker 8: NASDAQ to abandon their investor protection safeguards and allow his
- 1:36:00Speaker 8: company to be included in their indices one week after
- 1:36:04Speaker 8: going public. Because, like, these S & P index funds..
- 1:36:09Speaker 6: Oh, hang on.
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: Stand by for a second. Back with Frank and more
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: NewsRadio 570 WKVN.
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: And Ron Verb with you till 6.
- 1:36:17Speaker 14: By Estella's Pharma.
- 1:36:18Speaker 9: NewsRadio 570 WKVN.
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: And from NewsRadio 570 WKVN, let me go back to you, Frank.
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: So are you going to buy it or not?
- 1:36:28Speaker 8: I told you I was going to buy it Friday,
- 1:36:32Speaker 8: but it never pulled back. It just kept going... up-and-up-and-up
- 1:36:36Speaker 8: how about tomorrow.
- 1:36:39Speaker 16: Uh..
- 1:36:39Speaker 8: No not now that it's uh... went from a hundred
- 1:36:43Speaker 8: and fifty dollars a shared almost two hundred dollars a
- 1:36:46Speaker 8: share i will not buy it in fact if i
- 1:36:49Speaker 8: did anything i would short sell it and bet on
- 1:36:53Speaker 8: it going down what.
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: About long-term no it could it could be a big
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: moneymaker long-term it really could don't you think.
- 1:37:00Speaker 8: No i i i don't argue run I'm serious. Space run. Long-term,
- 1:37:08Speaker 8: you think it could make money?
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: Yes. Yes.
- 1:37:12Speaker 8: Space?
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: Yes. If it merges with Tesla, I think it could.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: I mean, I think a lot of these people that
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: are buying it are buying it to hang on to
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: it long-term. I don't think they're interested in selling it. Granted,
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: some of the big guys are, but I think a
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: lot of people are buying it to sit on it
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: for years. I think they're thinking it can be like
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: an Amazon.
- 1:37:33Speaker 8: Well, don't take this personally, but I think that's why
- 1:37:37Speaker 8: Musk decided to take SpaceX public, because gullible investors like
- 1:37:43Speaker 8: yourself are rushing to buy it.
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:37:48Speaker 8: SpaceX, Ron, SpaceX. is losing $ 5 billion a year.
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: Why would you.
- 1:37:55Speaker 8: Want to buy a stock in a company losing $ 5
- 1:37:59Speaker 8: billion a year?
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: Do you remember when Amazon was losing money for years
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: before it started making money? I bet you wish you
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: would have bought the stock, don't you?
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: Maybe you did. It was a loser.
- 1:38:10Speaker 8: It went public in 19... Look, it took how long
- 1:38:15Speaker 8: before Amazon became popular?
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: I tell you what, I'll pick up this conversation with
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: you tomorrow. I've got business I've got to take care of.
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: I'll get back to you.
- 1:38:25Speaker 8: Real quick, Amazon, 15 years before it started becoming profitable.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: I've got to pay my respects here. Look at who's
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: in my studio with me, and I say this, and
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: I told this to my secret guest. You callers, you're
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: going to have to just stand by. I don't know
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: if I'll have time for you. This is my secret,
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: secret special guest sitting in that chair over there, which
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: I was talking to you on the phone the other day.
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: Was I not?
- 1:38:57Speaker 11: You were.
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: And I said to her, and I won't identify her
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: just yet. And I said, I'm going to tell you
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: all a story. I'm going to tell you all a
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: story that took place. And I want you to hear it,
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: each and every one of you to hear it. Because
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: this is how, as I said to her, one person died.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: changes someone's life. Now, this goes back to 1984.
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: Yes. Oh, come on. Yes, this goes back to 1984.
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: I'm going, was it 84? I think it was. I've
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: been here, what, 41 years. So I was working at
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: WHBC Radio in Canton. And a young woman.
- 1:39:49Speaker 11: I was four years old at the time.
- 1:39:51Speaker 18: Okay, yes.
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: I'm sure you were just a teenager at the time.
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: A young teenager at the time left our station. I
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: was at WHBC in Canton and came to work for WKVN, right?
- 1:40:03Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: And she came up here to work for WKVN. And
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: Pete Gabriel at the time, God rest his soul. And
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: I had the opportunity, I say this to all of you,
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: every time I saw Pete, Later in life, as he
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: was having some health issues, I thanked him. I thanked
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: him for what he did for me and how he
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: really changed my life, really, and took a chance on me.
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: I caused him a lot of headaches, believe me.
- 1:40:35Speaker 11: I believe that.
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: I wasn't asking for your confirmation. Okay.
- 1:40:42Speaker 11: So your listeners are.
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: Saying, yes, yes. Listen, just be TV people.
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: Now here's it.
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: So anyway, Pete Gabriel hired at the time, Dan Ryan
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: to come over to this radio station. And that was
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: a big snag because he was big at another radio
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: station in town, but he convinced Dan to come over
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: to this radio station.
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: And then Pete said, was.
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: Looking for a talk show guy to do 7 to
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: 11 at night. 7 to 11 at night. So Pete
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: Gabriel was talking at this time to my special guest
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: who came from WHBC and started working up here in
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: radio and television at WKBN.
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: And she said, I got a guy. Yes, she said.
- 1:41:35Speaker 11: Do I have a guy for you?
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: She said, now this is a true story. That's what
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: she said. I know a guy. I know a guy.
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: And it's because of her that I've been sitting here
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: for 41 years. It is truly because of her. Because
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: if she didn't say something to Pete Gabriel... And then
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: Pete listened to her because she's very convincing, very authoritative.
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: Pete listened to her and said, really? Tell me about
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: this guy. And she's blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: then Pete started listening to the show. At that time,
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: I was doing in Canton on WHBC.
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: It was on at night.
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: And so then he called me. Then he said, I'm
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: interested in having you come on up here and talking
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: to you about a job opening that we have here
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: from 7 to 11 at night.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: And I said, really?
- 1:42:29Speaker 16: Really?
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: And I said, well, how did you know about this
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: or how did this come about? And he said, Carolyn Pursuity,
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: who joined our staff, radio and TV staff from WHBC,
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: came up and said, I know a guy. I know
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: a guy. And and so I said, oh, OK, I'll
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: come up and see you. And I was perfectly happy,
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: happy and can't make no mistake. Perfectly happy.
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: So.
- 1:42:59Speaker 2: I called Carolyn Persutti, and I remember this better than
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: she does. And I said, Carolyn, I got to go
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: up where you work and talk to Pete Gabriel. He's
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: a great guy and all this kind of stuff. And
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: Carolyn said, I said, well, how do you get there?
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: Meaning to WKBN.
- 1:43:14Speaker 11: Because we didn't have GPS back in 84.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: Yes, when you were just a young child.
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: And she said, listen, you get on the freeway. And
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: you drive straight till you get off on South Avenue.
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: This is exactly what you told me.
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: And I says, let me get this. Let me get
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: this straight. That's what she said. This is easy. You
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: get on South. You get on a freeway. You drive.
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: You get off on South Avenue. You come up South
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: Avenue and you see WKBN right. It'll be right in
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: front of you. That's before I moved to these nice
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: studios here.
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: And I said, OK.
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: And so then I drove up and I came up
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: here and I looked at this place and I thought, wow,
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: this is really something. And then I went in and
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: I met with Pete Gabriel and he talked to me,
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: did my interview. And there's a guy at the time
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: named Brian Lamb. I remember his name, not the one
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: on C-SPAN. It was a consultant. I don't know if
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: you remember him. And so then Pete says, well, I'm
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: going to offer you this job. And I says, oh, okay.
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: And so then you had to go in and meet J.D. Williamson.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: Do you remember him? I mean, no one was hired
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: until you went to J.D. Williamson's office and sat down
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: with J.D., And I can remember J.D.
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: Williamson.
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: This is like it's yesterday to me, not to Carolyn,
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: because she was so young.
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: When you're that young, you forget this stuff. You forget things, absolutely.
- 1:44:30Speaker 11: But you do remember the owners.
- 1:44:32Speaker 19: Yes.
- 1:44:32Speaker 11: They were wonderful.
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: He was wonderful. So I went in, I sat in J.D.
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: 's office with Pete. And you remember Pete had to be, what,
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: six foot four or whatever? Pete was an intimidating figure
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: to me, Pete Gabriel. Very intimidating. He was a big,
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: tall guy.
- 1:44:45Speaker 11: But a teddy bear at heart.
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: And he had this big, baritone radio voice.
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: And I felt like, standing next to him, I felt
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: like a midget.
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: I really did. And it was like, oh, my God.
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: And so then Pete walks me into JD's office, and
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: I sit down. And then Pete says, call me, JD,
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: when you're done. I'll come and get him. And I thought,
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: what the hell is this?
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: So then JD talks to me about a number of things,
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: and we work some things out. And then he says
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: to me, I'll never forget he says this. He says, Verb,
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: I want you to know something. Nothing's forever. That is
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: what he said in my initial interview. Nothing is forever.
- 1:45:23Speaker 11: And look, 41 years later, this is almost forever.
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: So when J.D.
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: Williamson and his family sold the radio station and they
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: had a little get-together for that, I said, well, J.D.,
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: nothing's forever, and I'm going to miss you. Yeah, but
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: he sold and he left and we'll be celebrating a
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: hundred year anniversary of this radio station in September.
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: Now think about this. And I've been on it for
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: 41 years. That's a long time. So if it, so
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: I said to this wonderful human being here, I said,
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: if it wasn't for you, Carolyn Pursuity, if it wasn't
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: for you, None of this would have happened.
- 1:46:08Speaker 11: You'd still be in Canton.
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: I probably still would be in Canton.
- 1:46:12Speaker 11: I got to tell you. Now, two things.
- 1:46:15Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:46:16Speaker 11: Somebody will open the door for you or you will
- 1:46:18Speaker 11: open the door for someone else. Then it's totally up
- 1:46:21Speaker 11: to them. Your talent carried you. I stepped back then
- 1:46:24Speaker 11: and I said, go, go shine. And you did.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: And here you are. But nothing would have happened if
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: it wasn't for you talking to Pete.
- 1:46:32Speaker 11: And that's so important for people to know. You have
- 1:46:36Speaker 11: to recommend the people that you enjoy working with and
- 1:46:40Speaker 11: that are competent and that go 110% out of their
- 1:46:43Speaker 11: way to do a good job.
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: So then you were at KBN and then you went
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: to FMJ. Then you left for some TV jobs everywhere
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: else in the country.
- 1:46:53Speaker 11: Richmond, Baltimore, and then Washington.
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:46:57Speaker 11: Can I tell your listeners one more thing that you
- 1:46:59Speaker 11: may not remember?
- 1:47:00Speaker 9: No, this is, I don't know.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: This is very, depends what it is. This is very
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: important to me because, folks, I want you to know something.
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: I finally had a chance when I talked with Carolyn
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: on the phone the other day. And I says, Carolyn,
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: I want you to know what a difference you've made
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: in my life. And Carolyn says, okay, yeah, right now.
- 1:47:21Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:47:21Speaker 11: I looked at the phone like, wait a.
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: Second, is this Ron Burr? Yeah, yeah. I hadn't seen
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: him in years.
- 1:47:28Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: And I said, yes, I wanted you to know this.
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: And then I know there's a get-together for all of you.
- 1:47:35Speaker 14: Right, right.
- 1:47:36Speaker 11: Which I wish you would have been there.
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: I don't like to be around all you old people.
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: Oh, oh.
- 1:47:42Speaker 11: You know, it was wonderful.
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: It depresses me. It really is.
- 1:47:48Speaker 9: No.
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: So, so they had a reunion and she says, I
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: am coming to town from Washington, D.C.
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: And I says, well, that's going to be wonderful. And
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: so then I saw Carolyn sent me a news clip
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: that they did. And I says, Carolyn Persutti looks the
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: same as she did. If I flash back to WHBC.
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: Time has been good to you.
- 1:48:09Speaker 11: I love you too.
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:48:11Speaker 2: But I mean, you look as good as you did then. Today,
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: life must have been good for you. Whatever vitamins you're taking,
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: let me have a full list. But I want all
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: of you to know something. And I thank all these people.
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: My life wouldn't be what happened to me today if
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: it wasn't for Carolyn Persutti. Carolyn Persutti is what I
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: owe a 41-year career at this radio station to.
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: Her, Pete Gabriel, J.D. Williamson.
- 1:48:37Speaker 11: And we're all asking for part of his salary now
- 1:48:39Speaker 11: that he's invented that.
- 1:48:41Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:48:41Speaker 11: He'll be lining up when he gets the check.
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: And you deserve it. And then you go to J.D.
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: And then, you know, over the years, you know, Williamson
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: sold it to J.Core. And then J.Core sold it to
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: Clear Channel. And Clear Channel became iHeart.
- 1:48:56Speaker 11: And you're the last man standing.
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: I am the last man standing. I'm the last of
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: the Mohicans. Yes.
- 1:49:03Speaker 11: But do you remember? We didn't start out this way,
- 1:49:06Speaker 11: liking each other. I don't know if you remember. So
- 1:49:09Speaker 11: Ron was doing a nighttime at WHBC, and I was
- 1:49:14Speaker 11: the newscaster cutting in at the bottom of the hour,
- 1:49:16Speaker 11: the top of the hour. And one time he introduced
- 1:49:19Speaker 11: me with a term that I had never heard. I
- 1:49:21Speaker 11: was green. I was right out of college. And he said,
- 1:49:23Speaker 11: and here's our crack news reporter, Carolyn Persutti. And I
- 1:49:27Speaker 11: was like, he called me crack. Oh, my gosh. He
- 1:49:31Speaker 11: has the nerve to call me crap.
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: I don't remember this.
- 1:49:34Speaker 11: I was so upset. I ran into the studio after
- 1:49:38Speaker 11: I finished the news and read you the riot act.
- 1:49:40Speaker 11: And you said, Carolyn, crack means a good news reporter.
- 1:49:46Speaker 11: I said, really?
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: Thank God I forgot all of this.
- 1:49:52Speaker 11: Oh, my gosh. I was so angry at you.
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: But you forgave me.
- 1:49:56Speaker 11: I did because then I learned that my vocabulary wasn't
- 1:49:58Speaker 11: as good as yours.
- 1:49:59Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: And she and but but I always think that you
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: as you get older, you should thank the people in
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: your life that make the biggest impacts on your life.
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: And when I think of them, there's there's a Carolyn Pursuit.
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: You would be at the top of the list. Pete
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: Gabriel would be on that list.
- 1:50:16Speaker 9: J.D.
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: Williamson would be on that list. there are many others
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: that would be on that list that I've worked for over,
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: over the years, you know, including my current folks at
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: I heart that have been absolutely wonderful. Nothing lasts forever,
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: but I mean.
- 1:50:31Speaker 11: But think of.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: How it's changed.
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: Oh, it's changed.
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: And if you would have said to me at my
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: age that I would, I always thought, well, I'll finish standby.
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: I'm going to finish this story momentarily. Carolyn Pursuiti, She
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: makes me nervous, folks. I'll be right back.
- 1:50:50Speaker 9: Radio app.
- 1:50:50Speaker 13: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: Okay, Ron Furr back with the woman that brought me
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: to Youngstown, Carolyn Persutti. And I just said to you
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: during the break, you know, that you should remember the
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: people that changed your life.
- 1:51:07Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: Wait a second. Let me turn your mic on.
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:51:09Speaker 11: And for me, I remember Mike Gontner. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:51:12Speaker 11: He hired me at WKBN to do radio, and I
- 1:51:15Speaker 11: worked with him. And then TV at FMJ, though. So
- 1:51:18Speaker 11: this was Vivian. And he taught me so much because
- 1:51:22Speaker 11: I was working right alongside him. We were co-anchoring the news.
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: He's still around today.
- 1:51:26Speaker 11: Yeah, I know. I would love to see him, too.
- 1:51:29Speaker 11: And I remember we were on the air constantly for
- 1:51:31Speaker 11: 21 hours for the Warren tornado.
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:51:34Speaker 11: Remember that?
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: Yes, I do.
- 1:51:35Speaker 11: I learned so much from that man. Yeah, Gary Hansen.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:51:38Speaker 11: Same thing. John Gurdick.
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: Passed away, yeah.
- 1:51:41Speaker 11: Ed Barron. I mean, all names from the past that
- 1:51:44Speaker 11: I'm sure your listeners remember.
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: And Nadine Tom Holden.
- 1:51:47Speaker 11: Oh, Tom Holden, too.
- 1:51:48Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:51:49Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:51:49Speaker 11: Everybody. They all play a role in your career. And
- 1:51:53Speaker 11: you always want to remember to thank them. And you
- 1:51:56Speaker 11: hope you do.
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: Right. And I thought, oh, well, Carolyn's got a good
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: job now. She's at KBN. Now she's at FMJ. But
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: that wasn't enough, right? You said, I got to go elsewhere.
- 1:52:06Speaker 8: I did.
- 1:52:07Speaker 11: My goal was always to work at a top 10 market.
- 1:52:10Speaker 11: And I really wanted New York. That's where I really
- 1:52:13Speaker 11: wanted to end up. But once I got to Washington,
- 1:52:14Speaker 11: I was like, oh. this is pretty cool.
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:52:16Speaker 11: This is where politics is. Oh, I got this. You know,
- 1:52:19Speaker 11: it's like the new starts there.
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: And then like, I would see pictures of you in
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: the white house. How was that? Cool.
- 1:52:24Speaker 11: Yeah. White house course.
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: Did you look around and go, this is, this is amazing.
- 1:52:28Speaker 11: Every day. You can never take that for granted. It's,
- 1:52:32Speaker 11: it's incredible to be able to walk through those gates,
- 1:52:34Speaker 11: no matter who, whom the president is. It doesn't matter.
- 1:52:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: When you say that, it reminds me of another thing.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: There was a guy that, uh, from WHBC that, you know, that, uh,
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: You know a guy? Yeah, I know a guy.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: He was a board up at the time on the program,
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: and his name was Jim Chenevise. And do you remember him?
- 1:52:53Speaker 11: I do.
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: Jim Chenevise was at WHBC, and his brother Fred was
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: a big newscaster somewhere in the country. But Jim Sheneves
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: left WHBC and became a radio news guy for CBS
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: Radio News. Yeah, I would listen to him often. And
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: he retired.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: And the first time I heard him, I was shocked. Like,
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: the first time I heard CBS News come on, this
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: is Jim Sheneves. I thought, Jim Sheneves used to run.
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: The board on a talk show.
- 1:53:19Speaker 11: Look at him.
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: He's so hard. And he's doing the network news. I was, like,
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: really proud of him with that.
- 1:53:26Speaker 11: But CBS News, no more.
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: After 100 years. Isn't that sad?
- 1:53:31Speaker 11: It's very sad. We should never eliminate a network.
- 1:53:34Speaker 6: Never.
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: No.
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: And that's why I get nervous when we're approaching our
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: 100-year anniversary here at WKBN Radio. Are we going to
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: make it?
- 1:53:42Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 1:53:42Speaker 11: Well, it's September, right?
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: Yes. The whole business has changed, hasn't it? Oh, it has.
- 1:53:46Speaker 11: It has.
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: It has.
- 1:53:47Speaker 11: It's just there are so many different biased outlets, which
- 1:53:52Speaker 11: I avoid. And viewers and listeners can't avoid. They're not
- 1:53:56Speaker 11: real sure who's biased and who's not because I think Um,
- 1:54:00Speaker 11: some grew up in an era where you just trusted
- 1:54:02Speaker 11: TV or you just trusted what you, what you read
- 1:54:05Speaker 11: on your computer and you can't, you have to source things.
- 1:54:08Speaker 11: You have to find out the source and you need
- 1:54:10Speaker 11: to know which of these networks are biased. Do you
- 1:54:13Speaker 11: ever think we would ever say that during our lives?
- 1:54:16Speaker 11: Because no network was biased when we were growing up.
- 1:54:18Speaker 11: Nobody was now it's obvious, you know, and people ask me,
- 1:54:22Speaker 11: what should I be listening to? what are the different
- 1:54:26Speaker 11: outlets who are fair? Who's balanced? And I say, well, VOA,
- 1:54:31Speaker 11: when we're on the air, when we're all hired back,
- 1:54:33Speaker 11: and BBC's good, but I say, if you listen to CNN,
- 1:54:37Speaker 11: you've got to listen to Fox. If you're listening to OAN,
- 1:54:41Speaker 11: you've got to listen to MSNOW. You have to balance
- 1:54:44Speaker 11: what you're listening or what you're watching because it's very
- 1:54:48Speaker 11: difficult to find an outlet now, a journalism outlet that
- 1:54:53Speaker 11: is Straight down the line. Very difficult. And that's what's
- 1:54:56Speaker 11: sad about our industry and how it has changed.
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: And that's the way it should. In other words, when
- 1:55:00Speaker 3: I'm listening to you do the news, I shouldn't know
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: if you're liberal or Democrat. It should just be the story.
- 1:55:07Speaker 11: Everyone should be a registered independent like me. I've been
- 1:55:10Speaker 11: a registered independent since I was, you know, old enough
- 1:55:13Speaker 11: to vote, 18. And I've never changed it. I can't
- 1:55:17Speaker 11: be biased in my personal life.
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: And it troubles you that media has become so biased, right?
