- 0:00happy monday hunter and election it's kelly siegel and welcome to the hard reset today's reset is about something most people don't talk about but everyone who grows will face identity lag that uncomfortable space where you've outgrown your old self but the world hasn't caught up yet it's uncomfortable trust me and they're done that here's what it looks like
- 0:23You quit drinking, but your old friends still invite you to the bar. You start a business, but your family keeps calling it cute or a hobby. You start working out, but people still see you as the lazy one. That's the identity lag. You're evolving faster than other people's perception of you. Let me tell you.
- 0:43From personal experience, it's frustrating as hell. You feel like you're living two lives. The old identity people won't let go of and the new one you're building. Here's the truth. Identity lag is normal. Growth always outpaces recognition. Don't let it discourage you. It's proof you're leveling up.
- 1:05But this is where a lot of people get stuck. They shrink back to the old identity because it's easier. They stop pushing because they want others to catch up. They don't like the feeling of facing so much resistance. Believe me, keep going. Stop waiting for people to recognize your new self. Keep becoming it. Eventually,
- 1:27The right people will see it or they won't and they will disappear, which is good. But that's their lag, not yours. Your job is to keep stacking proof, building confidence, showing up, keep living as the person you know you're becoming until the actions are undeniable and the results speak for themselves. It's harder than life and you will be happier than life. And here's your hard reset.
- 1:56Don't let identity lag drag you backwards. Be patient with people who can't see the new you, but don't slow down for them. Keep becoming, keep moving, keep growing. The world will catch up when it's ready. Tomorrow, we're talking with Michael Aaron Flicker, the man who helps CEOs use behavioral science to unlock explosive growth.
