Speaker A: Give a special shout out to my guy, Styles. Everybody wish Styles a happy birthday. All right, you know, my. My what? You know, we in the 40s club. You feel me? We in the 40s club. So all these birthdays, you know, in the future is just. It's precious to us, you know what I'm saying? Now we the new OGs, you know. So do me a favor. Send him a. Y' all, send. Send him all the birthday wishes, the brunch behavior, the poor report, you know what I'm saying? The brunch hour pod. Send him some love. That man has a birthday, all right? Another milestone. Let me kill that noise, you know what I'm saying? And he sparked the idea. He sparked the idea earlier when I spoke to him, you know, we had a little, A little, little, little, little, you know, ping pong, tennis, back and forth in the DMs real quick because I was just, you know, congratulating them on another year around the sun, you know, and he sparked the idea about the younger generation. The. The younger generation versus the, you know, our generation. We talking about TikTok dances versus music video dances. The influencers versus the, the BET MTV personalities, DMs versus AIM, Yahoo messenger, viral songs versus radio hits 106 and park. The playlist versus the mixtapes and burn CDs, sneaker drops versus waiting outside a Foot Locker. Streetwear versus FUBU, Rockaware, Sean John, you name it, et cetera. Y2K fashion versus actual Y2K fashion, all right? Podcast versus talk radio, streaming games versus just sitting around and watching your homeboys play or playing against your boys, you know what I mean? And we ain't too far removed from the online play memes versus yo mama jokes, you know what I'm saying? Group chats versus the three way calls or the, the, the, the, the, the, the chat the party lines and like that.
• 2:36
  Speaker B: Dating.
• 2:36
Speaker A: These got dating apps when we had to go to chat rooms. Black Planet, MySpace, you know what I'm saying? Going viral versus, you know, getting on one of the TV shows on BET or, or mtv. It was a difference. It was a difference, you know what I'm saying? The Younger cat like we used to be, y'. All, that's the thing. And now we get it because once upon a time we was y' all age and we've heard that before because it was an older generation that used to say that to us. The difference is, is, you know, what has, you know, what, what changed, what changed. And the respect that they were looking for from us, now we're looking at, we're looking for that from them. And it's just different because we did have a level of respect for the older generation. We did. You want to know how I know? Because I respect the cats now. You know, 12 Cal is my 10 year senior and that's a cat that I respect. You know, King, King German's older. Older than me as well. It's a lot of cats in this podcast game that's older than me that I respect just a level of respecting. Your, your, your. What would you call them? I don't want to call them elders because they not that old, you know what I'm saying? But these were cats that in their prime, they had a different prime, you know what I'm saying? Like the late 80s, early 90s, that's their spot right there. Mine was the late 90s, early 2000s. And so this is basically, it's not even a battle, you know, and like Styles said and which I've heard a lot of other people say, we don't even like calling these young Castawians, you know what I'm saying? These are just a younger group. I think we are hypocrites though. We are the ones that created these Y ins, we're the ones that created them. Why? Because of the tough moments, the tough upbringing, you was considered blessed to have a two parent household in my era, you know, so if you had that father figure, brother, older brother, dope uncles and stuff like that, that was teaching you the game early on. So you can understand it because now it seems like majority of the younger cats don't respect their history and they think they created shit. And they really didn't though, for the most part, you know, like they don't, it's like they don't do the history of it. And they might think we nagging, but again, I can't even be mad at them because once upon a time we thought the older generation was nagging, you know, ourselves. Why we would sit up there and clown these niggas about how they don't, they don't know how to text, they don't know how to take pictures for online Profiles and when they leave comments, everybody got that auntie that leave a awkward ass comment. You know what I mean? You and you post a fire ass vacation pic or something like that. You want some kicks or something. And then she end up your uncle Larry in the hospital again. Facebook is the one. Facebook is the one community that got everybody in it. You have every generation on Facebook except for the youngest generation. Like my daughter at the age of 10, she not on Facebook. She's not really on any platform right now, period. But if she was able to get on some platforms, the first one would be TikTok. Obviously she does like lemonade. But it's a younger that is it that's catered to the younger for the younger crowd. But we used to laugh at the older crowd because they didn't know how to text. They didn't know about the aims or anything like that. You know, they didn't know how to take pictures or, you know, they as they would ask how do you do this? They should barely. They barely know how to do FaceTime right now. You fast forward. The younger generation is like they're stream. They're making money off of our hobbies. I was talking to a young cat at work. And the reason why I admire him a lot is because he will push and he will challenge my generation. Our way of thinking and the things that we did. And this younger generation, their views towards relationships and marriage is just. To me, it screwed up a little bit. But they also don't have a lot of good examples from their peers. That's another problem. We had great examples from our peers. We had cats that was doing it big. That was around our age. We had. It's a lot of celebrities that grew up around our age. We didn't know that at the time. That was the crazy thing. When you was a celebrity around our age, the age thing never came up. So we didn't know. I didn't know me and Lil Wayne was, you know, around the same age. I think he might be a year older than me, you know, but there was a lot of cats that was in our demographic, you know, on our same tax bracket. But we didn't know that because Hollywood, they do that thing. They didn't you ageless when it, when you, when it comes to Hollywood. So we didn't know that, you know, but we just knew like Crisscross. I grew up listening to Crisscross in the early, in the early 90s. I didn't know them niggas was that much older than me. I think they Was about, I think about two or three years older than me or something like that. I didn't know that back back then. I just thought there was another, you know, another bad creation that we all around the same age. I didn't know that. I just seen another. I just seen another batch of kids and I'm like, these is famous or whatever. We don't see age. We know they young. We know they young. You know, they are kids. But we didn't know that, you know, we was growing up. We grew up with Kobe. We did. Kobe was older than us, though. You know what I'm saying? Kobe, Kobe was older than. By a couple of years, though. I didn't. Me and Joe, like Joe Button. I think Joe Bud is like maybe two years older than me. Two or three years older than me. It's crazy for me to think that, like say that. And I thought, you know, I'm not saying that he looks that much older than me, but he does carry himself that much older than me. So they just looked at stuff different now. You know, supreme was a skater's brand back in the 90s that nobody wore outside of skaters. Nobody. It wasn't. We didn't hype shit.
• 8:54
  Speaker B: We.
• 8:55
Speaker A: We did hype Jordans. We had to stand in line for J's. We did new releases from Nike. Stood in line for mostly J's, mostly J's, but we stood in line for them. They had raffles and like that. And I always. I ain't gonna even lie to you. Standing in line for Jays was a thing. But at some point, I considered it corny, you know what I'm saying? I did. Because now when you fast and it's really corny now, because now when you look at it, it's all hypebeast. You got kids that don't even know who Michael Jordan. They don't even know the damage that Michael Jordan did yet. And still they're paying triple the price for some J's that they don't even know the history of. And that be. The thing is, like, I think every generation, every young generation during that time period is going to have some type of gripe or some type of disrespect towards the older generation. Because the older generation is going to come off as nagging. And we trying to tell y' all a lot of the shit that y' all care about right now y' all not gonna care about and that. And that whole classic line is, man, y' all old niggas is just. You want to get there, though. That's the thing we know. What we're trying to tell you is that eventually it's going to click. If it don't click, you gonna be considered one of those weirdos that, you know, mid-30s, late-30s, early-40s, mid-50s, that's still doing young nigga shit. You gonna be considered a weirdo. Whereas the other ones who eventually end up growing up, maturing and stuff like that, raising a family or even not, you could. You could have no kids and still mature, but you're eventually gonna figure out that a lot of this shit don't really matter. Like, your happiness is gonna alter. It's gonna change. You know, right now, at your age, going out. And honestly, they don't even have a club culture, a lounge culture or anything like that. I think they did highlight the brunches a lot. But we've been doing brunches, you know what I'm saying? But we treated brunches a little bit different. Y'. All. Did we jump on, like, I put it to you like this. There's a lot of stuff that they did that we did back in the day. We just didn't do it as dumb as they did. Yeah, we had our moments. We was ignorant, too. We climbed on couches and shit like that. We didn't busted out windows at restaurants and clubs and stuff like that. We had our stupid moments. But eventually we had to grow up. We did. We knew how important that was. We did a lot of stupid stuff. And I guess we could be considered a hypocrite to say, well, y' all shouldn't do that. But there's something to that, though. Cause it's like y' all don't. It's a lot of. You know how they say, well, sometimes you gotta let them bump their head? Nah, not all of them. Maybe some of them. Yes. Not all. I think universally everybody should have gotten an ass whooping or two just so you can know what discipline is. You know, Some people look at discipline in a different way. Some people don't look not disciplined, but. Well, yeah, discipline too. But some people look at ass whoopings in a different light. Some people consider ass whoopings abuse or whatever. Depends on what type of culture you. You was brought up in. I've gotten ass whoopings before with belts. You know, Hot Wheel tracks, switches out from outside, you know what I'm saying? A couple other things. But nowadays, I think we. Because of the upbringing that we had, we pamper the kids of today, and that's why they turned out to Me, they kind of turned out a little soft and opinionated. And that's probably. To me, that's probably the worst combination right there is soft and opinionated. Like, you got something to say and you soften like. Like dog. Like, I need to know what. Maybe I should have had somebody on here, a part of that demographic, because I want to know what did the younger generation actually improve? You know what I'm saying? Like, can you start a clothing room, clothing brand from your bedroom? Can you make music without a record label? You know, build an audience without television? A lot of them have done that, though, I can admit that. You know what I'm saying? They did learn almost anything from their phone. That's the thing. We grew up without the cell phones. During that time, there was a certain. There was a certain point in time when started to get cell phones, you know, in the early. In the early 90s. In the early 90s, we were big on pagers and, you know, and there were. You couldn't get it.
• 13:36
  Speaker B: It was.
• 13:37
Speaker A: It was different. You know, 12 colleges had an episode about, you know, not being accessible all the time. And back in the day, you weren't really. You weren't, because there was no way to get you unless if you wouldn't at home, then you will have to have my pager number. If I didn't have a pager, you know, and it was. You would have to catch me. You know what I'm saying? Like, payphones is not even a thing anymore. And pay for payphones used to be a lifesaver. They used to be a life saver, boy. Because that was the only way you can, like, instantly get in contact with somebody, maybe because they also had to be near a house phone, you know, or somebody's household. So cell phones change the game. The Internet obviously changed the game. We grew up with the Internet. We've seen. We've seen the evolution of the Internet. We've seen the evolution of the cell phone, We've seen the evolution of video games. And I think that's where the millennial. That's where the millennial argument comes in at. Is that everything that you monetize off of or get popular off of it, it started with us. We feel like some of the shit y' all doing, y' all not doing it right, you know, but at the same time, they have shown the Kaiser knots. They have shown like, bro, we literally are making money off of just sitting in the basement, you know what I'm saying? But we had MySpace, we had texting, you know, What I'm saying, like pagers, rap videos, tattoos was what was popping. Well, yeah, they do tattoos now. They doing. But yeah, but the game is different. Like niggas is. Niggas is being put under to get full body or sleeves. They not even up. They not even conscious. They knowing what's going. We had to sit through that pain, huh? While we were sitting up here and having some of the greatest debates about hip hop, y', all niggas is still arguing for one artist. I think LeBron James and Drake is this. They got this. They had the same career. To me, they. They've shattered records. The whole nine talented, broke records and things like that. And his. Their fair. Their fan base consider him the best of all time. But overall, we know it's still mj. We know Kobe name is still gonna be thrown in there. We know that. We know Jay Z name is gonna be thrown in there. You know what I mean? It's, it's. It's like. It's like there's no longer fans of teams anymore. They're just fans of the actual player and wherever that player goes. And it's changed. And it's nasty to a. To a certain degree, because there's a lot of people that don't respect the sport in general. There's a lot of people that don't respect the culture of hip hop in general. Hip hop is dying. But it's not because of a battle that, you know, Drake and his fans end up losing. It's because we've allowed so much bullshit inside the hip hop game. And now that you really find out that these niggas is not talented at all and they can't put. And I can't even just put it on an artist. The fan bases are trash. They don't even accept music the same way. They don't. They don't even accept it the same. They don't even digest. And it's too much music being pumped out anyway. It used to be a. The fourth quarter used to be a thing. A lot of big artists didn't drop until the fourth quarter. Now is dropping. Chris Brown is dropping projects with 40 songs. Why? But he has to play that. He got to play the algorithm game. He got to play the streaming game. And all of it is just fucking stupid at this point, man, if you think about it. But this is where we at, man. You got young niggas running around Chicago. You know what I'm saying? You got Chicago with the drill rap. Hell, you got New York with the drill rap. I'VE never seen so much gang banging across the country, you know what I mean? In the 90s, I didn't hear about, yo, these bloods and Crips that they got on the East Coast. It still baffles me not saying that it couldn't be true. I mean, we. They had. They had banging in Little Rock. They had these blood. They got bloods in Little Rock, Arkansas,
• 18:19
  Speaker B: which
• 18:21
Speaker A: I ain't gonna lie. A lot of shit I just didn't respect as a person, look, as a pedestrian, as a person that never gang banging his life associated, however you want to call it, kicked it with him, had friends from both sides of the flags, the whole nine. And I had beef with niggas from both, you know, both sides of the flag. And it's like, as a person, that I could go to different neighborhoods. There was no restrictions.
• 18:47
  Speaker B: My bad.
• 18:48
Speaker A: There was no restrictions when it came to me going to different neighborhoods because I didn't have any hood attached to my name. I didn't. It was dangerous. It was a little bit more dangerous for me because I could be standing, you know, whether it was a cousin, brother, or a friend that was attached to certain gangs, you know, it didn't matter if I didn't bang or not. I'm with them, you know, and so I could be. An affiliate is probably one of the most dangerous labels you could have, being an affiliate. Because if they can't get your mans or your brother or your cousin, then they gonna get the. That goes everywhere to draw him in or draw them in. You know what I mean? But it was dangerous going to get some of them girls from the. From the jungle, you know what I'm saying? But I get it, though. I get. I get it. Because, you know, the older crowd, when it came to us, we used to hear a lot of songs, a lot of artists. We, you know, earlier, me and King Germ and Dolomite Dom, we was talking about artists who. Who, you know, redid classic songs. And I said, you know, there were certain songs that was redone that was considered better. But, you know, that didn't stop from the older generation saying, no, nigga, you tripping, nigga. The original version will always be better. Had more soul to it. They had a lot. The shit that came out in the 60s and the 70s and in the 80s, too. It was just. It sounded great. It sounded real good. To the point where when you got to the 90s, you know, bad Boy was good for just taking that whole and just redoing it, you know, and in some Cases it did sound better, but that didn't stop the original version from sounding bad. You know, it sounded great. Sounded great. The music back then sounded great, man, but you don't have that now. You know, you got our old school song. I mean, today's old school songs is, you know, Snoop Dogg. You know what I mean? That's crazy because I remember Snoop's rookie season in 91, 92. I remember his rookie season. He had one of the greatest rookie seasons of all time. Him, Eminem 50. They had great rookie seasons. You know, I think Snoop holds the title. That's neither here nor there, but they had great rookie season. But now to know that their songs are being sampled, crazy, man. It's crazy. Their songs are being sampled as old school songs. And it's like, now being an OG, I can understand what the other OGs was saying. Like, nigga, y' all haven't done nothing new under the sun. And it's true. Every generation is going to have their time to shine where they invented something or capitalize on something. And I think majority of this was capitalized more than invented, you know what I mean? Because they even bringing back baggy clothes. They're bringing back baggy clothes. At one time, at one point, these niggas was doing skinny jeans, which that wasn't a new thing either. It's just that the black culture wasn't doing it. You know, a lot of the skaters and the got the kids was wearing tight clothes, you know, and it's everybody's influence. Hip hop, Hip hop, Hollywood, highly. They influence a lot of the culture out here in the, in this country. You know, I think my generation paid a lot of homage to the generation before us. I think the generation after us, they just trying to pave their own way, but they don't realize. They don't realize that a lot of that they doing came from us. And I don't. I think our generation did a bad job on telling, on trying to tell the niggas, like, nah, this is how we did it. And I think it's a struggle between them knowing that we did it, but saying, no, we could do it better. It's just we haven't figured out what that was. You know, they can say, hey, well, we was considered a generation that took the online gaming or online streaming to the next level. That is true. Because that was technology at the time. The older gen, our older generation wouldn't have. They have no knowledge of the, of the, of the technology that's going on now. At least majority of Them, Some of them have. Yeah, it's some grannies, it's some grannies and some uncs and some, and some, and some. And some grandpas that's on tick tock on Twitter that's killing it. You know what I'm saying? But it's very rare. But they, they got some out there. Then our generation come along and we know a little bit of something because we was doing coding way before that was even a thing. Way before niggas was getting paid for that. How you think we had dope ass Black planet profiles and MySpace profiles, which they're in talks about time. They said Tom is trying to bring back MySpace, that me and my wife was talking about MySpace the other night and she. We both agreed that you got to have a little bit of everything from these other platforms on that MySpace revamp. You want to know why? Because today is, everything is instant. So you got to have a timeline. But the thing is the difference between these platforms and MySpace was MySpace was built off of profiles and messages and alerts where this one is more like instant, instant gratification. We used to wait, we used to, you know, we used to send messages and shit like that. Log off. Not necessarily log off. What some people did actually log off and away messages was a big thing. But what I mean by log off meaning like we used to put the app down, get away from that, go party, go hoop, go chill, then come back to 23 messages and shit like that. It wasn't instant gratification. Sometimes, sometimes you did have that on MySpace, but for the most part we knew that we was gonna send out whatever we was gonna send out and then come back to it. You know what I'm saying? This generation, I don't think they could, I don't think they could do that. You, they, you, they have to have that right then and there. You know, you've seen celebrities, young celebrities on IG Live or even FaceTime arguing with each other. When we used to argue with each other on MySpace, sometimes that shit would be a delay. You might not get that rebuttal until tomorrow, you know, but. And I think MySpace can't go that route. Even though I think the bulk of their, I think the bulk of the people that they're going to be targeting, the demographic will be us. It's going to be, it's going to be the, the, the late, maybe not even the late 30s, but yeah, let's just say the late 30s, maybe all of the 40s, maybe early 50s. That's going to be the Demographic that's going to jump right back on that MySpace train. Yeah. Because the profiles came with music. The profiles came with coding, the profiles came with aim. The profiles came with negative top eight, which started, I think, if I'm not mistaken, started out as the top four, and then the top eight. And then it got. Then it got outrageous after that, because that top eight was very, very. Here's the thing, I think majority of the people in the world. And you know what? Let's not do that. Let's not do that. I'm just going to keep it in the country, in our country, in the US of A. We all insecure to a certain degree. I think we're all insecure, and I think everybody is hypocrites. Everybody. I don't think. I haven't. I haven't met a person who's not a hypocrite. I don't care how much I love you or like you. You are. You. You have a certain level of hypocrisy to you. You do some of it. Some of y' all niggas just don't know it. Y' all just don't know it yet. But to me, which. Everybody's going to use the. You know, I'm just on here for entertainment purposes. I'm on here to pass time. I believe it. I believe. But I don't think that's the only reason. Everybody likes a certain level of attention, and there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with being insecure to a certain degree. There's nothing wrong with being a hypocrite unless you're gonna change it. But a lot of shit is. It's just. It's hard to get away from. It's difficult to get away from. You know what I'm saying? It's difficult for you to argue this for this side when you know you got some things that you benefit from that you're going against. That's just the way of life at this point. At this point. So that's me personally. I believe a lot of us come with a level of hypocrisy, and I think a lot of us still deal with some type of insecurity, no matter how small or big it is. Pause. It's still there. You could be insecure in your work, you could be insecure in your looks. You can be insecure and whatever it is, you know what I'm saying? But it's still there. And it stems from your childhood. At the end of the day, I think this younger generation Full blown insecurity. Oh, everything about it. Them niggas don't know how to argue. Them niggas don't know how to debate. They take everything personal. They soft, they get opinionated, but they can't take, they can't, they can't take criticism like it's crazy, you know what I'm saying? But I do think there's some young cats out there that listen. Like I said, my coworker, he's super solid. And the one thing that I admire is that he come with a certain level of pushing back. But at the same time, when I do make something that makes sense to him, he will acknowledge it, you know, which is very, is very rare when it comes to niggas his age. I think once you get to your 30s, your life is gonna change again. Going back to that two parent household, you didn't necessarily need one. You could have had a, you could have, you know, you could have had a broken home, stay with moms or your dad. But as long as the co parenting was cool, as long as you was getting parent, as long as you was getting some type of, you know, good home cooking. Good home cooking. I'm not just talking about food keeping you straight. When you go out there in them streets, they let you go. King Germs said at the age of five, he was walking to school. His school was a mile and some change away. Same thing with me. Fourth, fifth grade, I'm walking to school and home. I had, I had my own key to the house I was in. In the 4th and 5th gr. I was walking home. I was at home by myself until my mom got home from work, you know what I'm saying? Like, my mom didn't but for. There was a portion of my life between elementary and middle school where my mom and high school where my mom wouldn't get home until after, after 10, 11 o'. Clock. I was watching Monday Night Raw. And there was sometimes where I couldn't watch the very end of it because them headlights would pull up and I had to hurry. I had to be in bed and those dishes had to be done. That kitchen had to be clean. There was times when my mom woke my ass up and said, go wash these motherfucking dishes. I've been at, because I've been at home all day. All day is getting home. I got out of high school, I was getting out at 3:06. That was a dumbass time. But we got out at 3:06 at Fremont. Now whether or not I had basketball practice, I still had time to wash those dishes. And sometimes my ass was, you know, lazy and got my ass in bed. Bunk beds. I slept at the top. I slept at the top. Bunk bed. And a bottom bug bit bunk bed. I don't think about it. My mama woke my ass up and said, go wash the dishes. My ankles are used to always itch too, going in that because I didn't have no damn socks on. Yeah, wash the dishes. When the scene got stopped up, we had to get the big ass gumbo pot and wash the dishes in that bag. Gumbo pot. And then we had the. Flush the. The dirty water down the. The toilet. Just telling y' all how I grew up. Don't. Don't judge me or whatever, but this new generation don't know that everything that goes wrong they want to. Cause they. Yo, I wasn't getting in taxis like that. Have I been inside of a taxi before? Yeah, but it was very, very rare that I got into a taxi, nigga. My public transportation came from the bus, the rtd, the N. The Rough, tough and dangerous, what they call them. Then they switched it to like Metro or some shit like that. Niggas caught the bus going. Catching the bus to the mall. That was. Oh, that was top tier right there. This generation Ubers and now there's a whole generation that's gonna look at Uber as, or Uber Uber Lyft. They going to look at that as some old school shit. Because now, nigga, they got these self driving cars that I seen years ago in Fog in San Francisco. And I've been seeing kids mainly in the richer areas. I've been seeing kids being transported to school and home. I just see kids in the backseat. No adults, no driver. That crazy, man. I mean, things change. But I think a lot of that we grew up on could help these kids nowadays. Especially the way we looked at relationships. You know, dating is different. And we all had our. We all had our different. Like we was really into girls. We was really in going to get numbers. Y' all don't understand. Y' all really don't understand the, the euphoria, the. The excitement, the joy of walking up to a girl, talking, whatever, good talking you. And having the boldness to ask for her number. And then you get it. She writing and she writing. That nigga, she's writing down a house number. Do you know, do you know, like, you know how crazy that is? Because you don't know if she got two parents at home. All right, if she got two parents, niggas even more difficult because guess what this? This is a reality check for you little stupid out there. Eventually you gonna become us. And you going to be teaching your daughters to avoid niggas that you used to hang with. That's the scary part. You gonna grow up, you gonna have daughters, gonna change your whole life. Don't get me wrong, man, you have a boy or two or three, that's cool. But once you have your first daughter and more gonna change your whole life. My nigga don't nothing humble a nigga like a daughter. Cause now you got to raise her like she was an Ali. For real. Layla Ali, my. That's how you go. You gonna want to raise her like that. There's some dads out there that got their daughters in kickboxing. Hey, for you young, if you ever see a woman or a young woman or older woman on her, on her stroll at night or even in the day, it doesn't matter what time it is, but mostly at night, you see her walking up the street, walking at the park, at the beach, and she has a big ass dog with her. Usually that's a sign of she either stays alone or her husband and boyfriend is not around. That dog is not there just for genuine love. That law, that dog is there for protection. And again, you are going to grow up and raise a daughter and teach her to avoid the niggas that used to rip and run the streets with, or you going to raise her to avoid the nigga that you used to be. That's all we trying to tell you. That's why I say special shout out to Styles. Show that man some love. All you young niggas out there, when y' all see Styles walking the streets of New York or wherever he decides to move to, salute that man every chance you see him. Every chance. Because you will, you will wish and a hope that when you fast forward and Your daughter is 18, 19, 20, 30, 35 years old, that she come across a good man. Or when she does come across some niggas, that's ignorant. She knows how to handle herself in that situation. So when y' all out there sit up there trying to clown us as old heads and y' all is old, the shit that y' all listen to, blah blah this, blah blah that. When you got old niggas trying to pull Jada Kiss from out from the dungeon to rap against him. When this Jay Z can put out a couple of freestyles, no songs, no singles, no nothing, and just bring up his catalog from over 30 years ago and sell out stadiums, dog. We try to tell you something, you're going to want to get to where we're at right now. Because at 43, approaching 44 this year, when I see older cats that's 10, 20 years older than me, the first thing is I say is, man, I'm trying to get where you at right now. That means I'm seeing more life. I look at life totally different than I did when I was in my 30s and 20s. And I understand that that's the evolution that you go through. But also, you could listen to some of the shit that we're trying to teach you. Our old niggas trying to teach you to make your journey that much better. You don't have to. You, hey, you ain't got to hit a lot of potholes that we hit along this journey. You don't, you really don't. Put your ego to the side. Keep some of those opinions to yourself and just listen to some of these old niggas. I'm not saying that these niggas got the answers. I'm saying that you need to listen to what they got to say and see if those answers apply to your life. Because some of it might not apply to your life, but listen to their experiences and see what you can gain from that. That's all we trying to say. I remember I was that young, but I wasn't stupid enough to be disrespecting older niggas on the basketball court. I did on the basketball court. I was trying to run circles around them niggas. Every other, every other move, I was crossing them niggas up and trying to embarrass them. But when they started speaking real life shit, nigga, I was listening even if I didn't understand it. I remember I used to go to Santa Monica to go hoop at Memorial, right? And I was one of them cats that used to be like, why niggas always want to play half court, three on three and shit like that? Because they, the older niggas was like, nah, I'm good on that full court. And some of the best 3 on 3 half court basketball games was played inside that gym. Great games up in that. And we didn't realize that the turnaround was quicker, you know what I'm saying? Like, if you play a full court, my nigga, them games are gonna go a little bit longer. And you had other places you can go to, niggas. Westchester was, was the, the Westchester park was infamous for some great runs outside and other places. But in Santa Monica at Memorial, they had some full court Games, not as much, but them. Them half court games was it. And I, you know, when I was younger, I didn't understand it.
• 39:10
  Speaker B: You.
• 39:10
Speaker A: And we also had late night off of Crenshaw in Torrance. I forgot what the cross street was, but in Torrance we had late night. Late night was literally what it. What it was for all y'. All. That. That's not from la. Late night was a open run for us in Torrance. That used to start at like, I don't know, 9, 10, 10 o' clock at night. Good runs too. They used to have two or three court. Some it depend on how many people got there. And you had to have a card they will give you. If you was the first time comer, give them your idea. Used to take a picture of you. They create you a card. You have to keep that card. So when you come in there, they had like a. Like a card book and they used to put you. If you didn't come with a squad, then they used to just put your card in a slot with other niggas and you would have that team. However the slots was filled up, that's what team you would run with. You know what I mean? And they used to play. Sometimes they used to use three chords depending on if it was. If it was cracking that night and they had to use all three chords. But you go from this court to that court to the winner's court and you just hold it down with your five. And then if you lost, you go back, you get your card, you reshuffle, pick another five. And then. That's was always smart to come with. It's no different than playing 2K. And y' all go to the park. Y' all go to the park. Hold on, who's this? That's my wife. My wife is just. Hold on, let me. I'm sorry, y'. All. You gotta respond to the wife. Cause it's. And it's. And it's. And it's sex night too. So I'm not, I'm not trying to mess that up. I'll call you in a minute. God damn it. I didn't text that. I just said, I'll call her back, I'm recording. But yeah, that was late night. Late night basketball. But yeah, no, I used to. I didn't understand why niggas didn't want to play full court. I'm like, man, half court or whatever, half court ended up being fun. But them niggas, first of all, them niggas had a stamina to get back on Defense. And they just knew, like, bro, the games are going to go by a little bit faster if you play threes. You know what I'm saying? And now I understand as an OG and I don't play basketball. I haven't played basketball, like, competitively like that in a long time. I didn't even have the desire to do so. And the last time I played basketball, the last two times, was when my son was playing traveling basketball. He was playing for the Aces out here. And they had practice outside one day. I think it was one day, they had practice outside, and they needed one to basically have a five on five for practice. So I went in, played the five, and they had a. It was a kid. They had a center. His name, I ain't gonna say his name, but he was like six. He was about six, two. I think he's about six, two, six, two. White boy. And boy. That boy was strong. He was strong, but he didn't have everything, but he was strong. And then after that, I went to LA Fitness. I went to LA Fitness one day and play full court. I shot about two air balls. I was tired, bro, getting back on defense. I was tired out. And I. And I played it. Y' all know them jumping bean that just ones that just be running, them Reggie Miller type, them Rip Hamilton type. I hate playing defense against them at that age, you know what I'm saying? So I get it now. I get. I've even played in adult leagues. But I was cool at that time. This was way. This before the pandemic, I think I was. I don't know, the adult league. I was playing in what, 2000? I don't know, maybe somewhere between 2015 and 18. I was in, you know, a couple of adult leagues, and that was cool. You know what I'm saying? My stamina was still there. But I get it now. I get it. It's like, we not built. We not built for that no more. My left knee, you can ask my wife. The way I walk up the stairs, a little different. Feel like it's a tear there, you know, I'm scared to play competitive basketball and flag football. I want flag. I want to. We've won a flag football championship one year in the Tough League. Go look up the Tough League, Tuff League. We won one of the championships. I forgot what our team was called. I got. And I got footage. I got this one picture of me jumping high as hell to catch this ball. Everybody that wasn't at that game sees that picture and says that I didn't catch the ball. It's a still frame, but I end up catching it. No, I was that good. I was that good. But there was one. There was one team where this white boy routed the. The. Let me tell you, there's been two. There's been two situations where we got embarrassed in the basketball league and in the football league. In tough league was this white boy. My God, this was nice. Like, this was picking up like, my God, bro. 12 cow, this king's germ. This was nice. And one of the basketball leagues we played in, I forgot what the league was called. We ended up playing some Crenshaw niggas in that league, too, if y' all remember that one. I forgot what the league was called. I love that league. Anyhow, we played against some white boys. They came in suits, all right? They came. These niggas came in suits. I don't know why they did. I don't know where they came from. We don't know where they was. We don't know if they was coming from work. We don't know if they was coming from a private school.
• 45:12
  Speaker B: We.
• 45:13
Speaker A: We don't know where they was coming from. Was a playoff game. I. I'mma bring my boy Smooth, cuz. Me and Smooth was on that team. I will. I think Bass was on that team. Me and Smooth was on that team. Let me call Smooth right now. I'mma call Smooth right now. He should be out of practice because he gonna tell you. He gonna tell you. Come on, Smooth. You gotta pick up. You gotta pick. You gotta pick up. Hold on, hold on, hold on, y'. All. Because I can't tell a story better than him. I can't. I can't. But I'm gonna see if he pick up.
• 45:53
Speaker B: I gotta go get him a cup.
• 45:55
Speaker A: Hey, Smooth. Hello, Smooth.
• 45:59
  Speaker B: Yeah.
• 46:01
Speaker A: Yes, sir, real quick. You own live on the show right now. I'm not gonna keep you long. But I got a question for you.
• 46:10
Speaker B: Let's talk about it.
• 46:12
Speaker A: Remember that adult league we used to play in?
• 46:14
  Speaker B: Yes, sir.
• 46:16
Speaker A: Remember we had that playoff game against those white boys.
• 46:20
Speaker B: Oh, Scott Skies and them.
• 46:22
Speaker A: Hey, what did they do to us?
• 46:25
Speaker B: Listen, man, they ran off, ran us. They ran that Princeton office on us. Hey. Ran us off. So many picks, them niggas.
• 46:35
Speaker A: And what did they show up in?
• 46:38
Speaker B: Hey, I don't care what they showed in or showed up in. I don't want to see them no more.
• 46:43
Speaker A: Them niggas, remember? Them niggas showed up in suits, man.
• 46:48
Speaker B: Listen, that. That. Them boys was a whole problem.
• 46:51
Speaker A: Hey, them niggas ran that pristine offense and they whooped our ass.
• 46:58
Speaker B: Oh, nah. Wore us out, brother. Whoa. Us out.
• 47:02
Speaker A: I'm telling. This episode is about. This episode is about the. The Y ins versus the ogs. We the new ogs versus the young Y ins of today.
• 47:11
Speaker B: Okay, we didn't. Yeah, yeah.
• 47:13
Speaker A: But I was telling them about how we used to play in adult. Like how when we were younger, we used to get. Not attitudes, but we used to question niggas, like why they didn't want to play full court. Now we understand, because when we got into. When we got into that adult league, dog,
• 47:33
Speaker B: straight up, quiet as cup, man. I got out there and got some run today. You know what happened? Hey, my knee hurt, but Craig, man, my knee hurt.
• 47:47
Speaker A: I was telling the niggas, man, hey, it's hard for me to walk up them stairs and plant on my left leg.
• 47:53
Speaker B: Hey, no, man. Hey, listen, I'm gonna tell you right now, them white boys was a nightmare, man.
• 47:57
Speaker A: Them white boys. Them niggas showed up in suits and we judged them. We just.
• 48:02
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Straight from the office. Scott Skiles and John Paxton in them,
• 48:09
Speaker A: shot 87 from everywhere.
• 48:13
Speaker B: Could not keep up. Could not keep us. And then they got the nerve to say that they missed us.
• 48:19
  Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 48:21
Speaker B: You know, I got word. I ain't got word back because, you know, we switched leagues after that year. Yeah, we switched leads, and then they was like, you know, I got word that they was looking for us.
• 48:35
Speaker A: Yeah, that's disrespectful, too. We. And. And Crenshaw had a team in there, too, remember?
• 48:40
Speaker B: Crenshaw definitely had a team. Yeah, my Crenshaw guys definitely had a. You know, I mean, I was. Royce and my guys.
• 48:48
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, they beat us, too.
• 48:52
Speaker B: Did they get us?
• 48:53
  Speaker A: They got us.
• 48:54
  Speaker B: They got us.
• 48:55
  Speaker A: They got us.
• 48:56
  Speaker B: They got.
• 49:00
Speaker A: They got us. They got us. My. Well, we. We did win in Arch League, though. We got one in Ars League.
• 49:10
Speaker B: Hey, man, you know that. That league was kind of cool, man. We had a random white boy that joined us from a free agent pool.
• 49:17
Speaker A: I remember that. He could shoot, though.
• 49:21
Speaker B: He can shoot it.
• 49:22
Speaker A: Yeah, we got him off the free agency. L. Ross. Yeah, I remember that. I remember that.
• 49:28
Speaker B: He came in as a free agent. He. He did his little thing.
• 49:32
Speaker A: He did. Man, we had. We had a cool little. We had a cool little squad, man. I used to love those runs at. At C City. C. That's good. I don't know. I don't know how much of a help I would be to that squad today.
• 49:49
Speaker B: Oh, no, you know, I can't even picture. I'll tell you the truth. I turned down. I turned down an adult lead.
• 49:56
  Speaker A: That's where I'm at. I wouldn't even. I wouldn't even. I won't even take the veterans minimum. I only. I don't need the money. I don't. I don't need it.
• 50:06
Speaker B: I said. I said, listen, until I lose about 50 pounds, do not approach me with anything with league at the end, would you.
• 50:15
Speaker A: Would you attempt to play in. Cause now we well into. We well into our four. I turned 40. You already turned 44 league.
• 50:22
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, we 40 plus league.
• 50:25
Speaker A: 40 plus. And we've been talking about this since our 30s.
• 50:28
Speaker B: Oh, no, listen, listen, listen. I seen. Is it a plus league or 50 plus league? At, at the New Green Meadows, they got a 50. It's either a 40 or 50 plus. It's a 50 plus lead and they out there going smooth.
• 50:45
Speaker A: I'm not going to Green Meadows.
• 50:48
Speaker B: It's the new Green Medals. Cause you know, they got a new jam.
• 50:51
Speaker A: Yeah, no, I've been. I've been to the new gym.
• 50:53
Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. So you know what I mean, Sunday afternoons, all the OGs be up there. Yeah, they be running. You know who's in that league?
• 51:00
  Speaker A: Who?
• 51:03
Speaker B: One of our high school heroes from and one sick with it.
• 51:06
Speaker A: Sick with it in there.
• 51:08
Speaker B: Stick with it. Is in that league. They got some. They got a couple NBA cats that's in that league.
• 51:13
Speaker A: That's why I'm not in there.
• 51:14
  Speaker B: They running.
• 51:15
Speaker A: That's why I'm running. Because that be the cheat code. Like them. Them be sneaking into all the 40 and 50 and ups. They be sneaking in there. That's why.
• 51:26
Speaker B: I mean, he not. And one of the niggas right now, he not doing that, but he's still getting to it.
• 51:31
Speaker A: Now what league, what league was that, that Tio was playing in? I'm talking about the real. I'm not talking about rto. I'm talking about Terrell Owens.
• 51:40
Speaker B: I think he was playing in the Culver City league.
• 51:42
Speaker A: He was. That's what I'm saying. Be cheating. Be cheating, bro.
• 51:48
Speaker B: So that's the. So he was playing in that league. So they got levels in that league. Yeah, and they have the entertainers. The entertainers league. So they got, they got levels. I think the level that I put us on was a dope. And then they have the adult college and then they have adult entertainers, and then they got a league. They got a league below that too. So we was in the second league. But A.J. watt played in that league too.
• 52:15
Speaker A: I think I remember something about him playing that league, but I knew. I knew to. Was in there. Yeah, it was footage.
• 52:23
  Speaker B: And.
• 52:23
  Speaker A: And remember the.
• 52:25
  Speaker B: The football.
• 52:26
Speaker A: I'm gonna call Dabby. I'm gonna call Dabby next. Matter of fact, thank you for your services tonight, sir. I. I wanna. I wanna. I wanna close this out. I gotta call Dabby about that football league.
• 52:36
  Speaker B: Yes, sir.
• 52:37
  Speaker A: All right.
• 52:39
  Speaker B: All right. Go.
• 52:41
  Speaker A: See, I told y', all, I'm the 12 cow. I don't be lying to y'.
• 52:45
  Speaker B: All. My.
• 52:45
Speaker A: I am not gonna lie to y'. All. I. I was. We got our ass whooped by the. Now I'm about to call Dobby. About to call Dabby right now. I'm gonna tell you about the. The football league that that was in that we played with some celebrities. You own live on my show right now. I got a quick question to ask you.
• 53:12
  Speaker B: Oh, okay.
• 53:13
Speaker A: Remember that. Remember that celebrities football league that we. I play. I think I played one game with y', all, but it was in the Valley.
• 53:22
  Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 53:22
Speaker A: Remember that league, huh? What was the name of that league? Who was in the league as far as, like, actual celebrities?
• 53:37
Speaker B: I think Kevin Hart played a little bit, changed a couple.
• 53:42
Speaker A: Now, the league that we played in and we won the championship, that was the tough league, right?
• 53:49
  Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 53:50
Speaker A: We won the championship in that. In that one.
• 53:53
Speaker B: Yeah. Our first time going out there.
• 53:54
Speaker A: Our first time going out there. But we. And we got. And we got. We got footage too. Well, I don't know if we got any videos, but we definitely do.
• 54:01
  Speaker B: We do.
• 54:02
Speaker A: You got the. We got pictures. But do we got the promo video?
• 54:07
Speaker B: Remember the promo video that might be on Facebook somewhere?
• 54:13
Speaker A: I gotta find that promo video when we line up.
• 54:17
  Speaker B: That was hard.
• 54:22
Speaker A: I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go look for. I'm gonna go look for it. But. But who. But who was the one player that we had problems with in the tough league?
• 54:33
Speaker B: From a different team?
• 54:35
Speaker A: No, from a different team. It was the Asian cat. Hey, this Asian was killing us.
• 54:46
Speaker B: He was giving one of the homies.
• 54:47
Speaker A: He was killing bass.
• 54:48
Speaker B: He was putting them through a blender.
• 54:51
Speaker A: No, but look, the other time, I was telling them that it was. It was. Was it not Bowboy Park? It was a park. It was a park that I used to go with y' all to before I even started playing Flagpole. Cause I got history with y'.
• 55:06
  Speaker B: All.
• 55:08
Speaker A: But I wasn't. I was like. I was like. I was, like in a free agency a lot because you had been playing flag football since you was in college.
• 55:19
  Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
• 55:20
Speaker A: And so I used to just tag along. I used to watch y'. All. And then if y' all needed an extra one, if y' all played on Saturday. Yeah. And let me tell y'. All. I'm tell my listeners. Let me tell y' all how dirty them niggas did me. Them used to put me on the fucking offensive line and on the defensive line. Just tell me to block and rush. I'm a receiver and a db, and these and these used to put me. Do you know y' all think flag football is not a physical sport? A. Yeah, in the trenches. Them. Hey, them that used to rush in, we not. There's no pads. They got in. Sprain a couple of thumbs and bent a couple of fingers. And like, them used to rush so hard to get that quarterback.
• 56:11
  Speaker B: Serious.
• 56:12
Speaker A: But there was. I forgot what park. I forgot what park it was. I could. I can see it in my head, though.
• 56:17
Speaker B: It could have been North Ridge Park.
• 56:19
Speaker A: It could have been North Ridge Park. But I remember we had a game, my nigga, and it was this white boy. This nigga was a DB receiver. That nigga was so fast, I could not hold that. That nigga was routing me. And I see why. N put me on the line. But after that, I'm out of my prime, though. Like, when we won that championship. We won that championship off the strength of the homie. Passed away not too long ago. We dedicated that season to him. You know what I'm saying? But shit, after that, I'm not sure what y' all did after that. Cause that was my last season, wasn't it? I didn't come back after that. The team that we played in the championship was raw.
• 57:15
  Speaker B: Yeah.
• 57:16
Speaker A: And let me. Hey, I got a special message from Greg for Greg. Pass me the ball. That's the one quarterback I did not like because that played favoritism.
• 57:27
  Speaker B: The.
• 57:28
Speaker A: The other one, the white boy. The white boy that looked like Captain America. Oh, yeah, Chris, that was my favorite one. That was my favorite quarterback right there. That's my. That. That was my Tony Romo. Don't talk about my court. That's my quarterback. That's the quarterback I like. Because when I first came out there, that he wasn't biased or nothing like that. But Greg.
• 57:49
Speaker B: Greg. Got to prove yourself, man.
• 57:51
Speaker A: Greg, dog. Hey, Greg. Throw me the rock, Greg. Throw me the rock, nigga. Because the year we won the championship, we lost the player. Remember the first game we played? Somebody tore the Achilles.
• 58:06
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Popped it he thought somebody kicked him.
• 58:10
Speaker A: Shout out to. Yeah, yeah, that looked back.
• 58:14
Speaker B: He was mad. Yeah.
• 58:16
Speaker A: Shout out to Raji.
• 58:18
  Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 58:20
Speaker A: Shout out to Flash.
• 58:21
  Speaker B: Yup.
• 58:22
Speaker A: We had a squad dog. We had a squad man. All right, David, I just wanted to bring you on for that. I don't want to hold you too long. Just, you know, just verify. Just verify. Shout out.
• 58:35
Speaker B: Chico with the. With the celebrity media. I forgot the exact same. But yeah, he had it.
• 58:44
Speaker A: I just know we was in the Valley somewhere. That field was. That was probably the cleanest, nicest field we ever played. Oh, yeah, he had.
• 58:50
Speaker B: He had the turf.
• 58:51
Speaker A: Yeah, that was nice. And we had. I gotta find that photo. I see that photo every so often when we had them stupid ass helmet. Them 1920. We had to have 1920 helmets on that.
• 59:06
  Speaker B: She was. Wow.
• 59:08
Speaker A: No, but, yeah, Shout out, Dobby. Shout out. Appreciate it. I hit you back.
• 59:13
Speaker B: All right, man. Take care.
• 59:16

Shout out to the young cats, hey, when y' all see Styles in the street, say fucking happy birthday. I don't even care. Like, this is in August. So apparently his birthday is in August. If it's not in August, it's late July. I'm sorry, Styles, I just seen the post. But this nigga, is he a Leo? I think he a Leo. You know what I'm saying? I'm a Capricorn. I don't be keeping up with everybody. I'm married to a Virgo. Shout out to my sugar. I'm married to a Virgo and I'm a Capricorn. That's all I keep up with. But I don't care if it's March. You see that, Styles? In the street, you said that. You tell that Happy birthday, OG Happy birthday. Hey, now that. When I. When I get the. Oh, when I get the Unc or when I get the big bro. They random in my hair, you know, not as much in my hair, but in my chin. I got some salt and pepper. The crazy part is there's people that still think like that. I'm. I. I'm. Pick his brain, bro, because you want to get to that point, you know, whether you got kids or not, you still want to be old enough to. To finish out your journey. You want to do that. Like all these memories. I just finished calling two homies, dog. That just took me back down memory lane or whatever. You want to be able to do that. Respect your elders, respect your OGs, respect your UNCs, respect your big bros. You gotta do that. Don't be like 38 special. Now kiss because the, you know, he, he. He's soggy because you know, kissing. Send a. A verse over because he got. He sends him some trash ass beats. Like, just embrace. Just rap. Just rap. Don't go on no podcast bitching and moaning and like that and calling old out. No, you can't do that. Is already solidified. And that's the point of this whole episode. We already did it. No matter what y' all doing, no matter if y' all monetizing off the. That we grew up with, we already did it. We was there from the beginning.

Because y' all don't know what's next. Y' all don't know what's in the future. We trying to tell y' all when y' all get there, y'. All. Y' all could be prepared. We trying to get y' all the blueprint. Shout out to Jay Z, this nigga just re released all his fucking music after 30 something years selling out. You want to be able to do that. You don't want to be in your 40s and 50s and forget you. Now you gonna be salty because guess what? 10, 20, 30 years from now gonna be like yo old ass was on Tick Tock. That's what's they gonna say. So we gotta. We gotta break the curse, bro. We gotta break it. And you gotta to the OGs. I gotta talk to y', all, too. Reach back down and go pick them up. Tell them, teach them how to talk to women. Teach them how to protect women. Because when y' all have y' all daughter, y' all gonna need to know how to do it. Trust me better than that. It's not a that can with me in power wars, and that's a fact. Smash, set it up.
