  And today we're talking about the Syrup Village.

  So the Straw Hat crew show up at Orange Town and they're greeted

  by Captain Usopp of the Usopp Pirates and these 10,000 men

  which is 3 small boys in the bushes putting flags up to make

  it look like there's more people Yeah the Luffy and them don't

  back down and the end up making friends with us up pretty much

  straight away. He's happy that this pirates

  there because his dad was a pirate and Luffy is he just goes

  ah, who's up your yassup son, which this is really weird that

  yourself just like Oh my God, you know my dad.

  That's amazing. I love how you got to be friends
• 1:24
  with them instead of being like my dad abandoned me as a child

  and you got to spend time with them.

  Only a few islands over like literally like 10 years.

  It's about 10 years before this one.

  story, and he's turned into the Boy Who Cried Pirate, where he

  runs into town every day going pirates are coming, pirates are

  coming, and everyone's just like oh for fuck's sake, man who

  stops doing that thing again? He's a proper little liar.

  And he's basically based on Pinocchio, isn't he?

  Because he's got his long. I didn't mention before about

  Zorro. Obviously Zorro is based on
• 2:55
  Zorro. Like, you know, like the.

  Master Zorro. Originally he was having to be
• 3:04
  called Zolo or Zolo change his name for like copyright reasons
• 3:10
  and stuff like that. So you might read some stuff
• 3:12
  about people talking about Robin with Zolo.

  Is that because this was released in 96 the anime, wasn't
• 3:21
  it? Or 98?

  One was the manga and one was the anime.

  Yeah, but but anyway, that's just when Antonio Banderas and

  Zorro was peak, wasn't this? Yeah, yeah, I was literally

  watching some stuff from that the other day as well.

  Yeah. So Usopp is doing the Boy who

  cried wolf thing and nobody believes him because he's just

  the town idiot. Yeah.

  He's got a friend called Kaya who he goes to see every day and

  he tells stories about his life as a pirate and these adventures
• 4:02
  on the seas, which are all lies and made-up stories.

  And he keeps getting chased away by her Butler Clatadore.

  And it doesn't take long for us to find out that he's actually
• 4:17
  Captain Cool of the Black Cat Pirates and he's just a massive
• 4:21
  dickhead. And he's only posing as a Butler
• 4:24
  so we can kill Kaya when she turns 18 and have a leave all of
• 4:29
  our fortune to him because he just wants to live a life of
• 4:32
  luxury without being chased by the Marines anymore.
• 4:37
  He is having meetings with Django, not jungle, not that one
• 4:46
  Django the the weird pirate guy that like walks backwards
• 4:50
  players as he's got his hippie glasses.
• 4:52
  On Yeah. Yeah, so he is in touch with
• 4:59
  Kuru and the Black Cat pirate crew.
• 5:02
  And yeah, there's a plan for them to come in and basically
• 5:05
  annihilate everyone in the village and for them to kill
• 5:09
  Kaya in the mayhem accidentally. So Luffy and USAF overhear this
• 5:17
  from a Cliff, and there's like, some stuff happens.
• 5:21
  Luffy falls off the Cliff, everyone thinks he's dead, but
• 5:23
  he's robust, so he's not. And USAF goes back into town to
• 5:28
  be like the pirates are already here and everyone's just like
• 5:32
  whatever showed up yourself. And then he gets chased out of
• 5:35
  town like pitchforks and torches and stuff.
• 5:38
  He gets shot at one point. Is it Mary that shoots him?
• 5:41
  I think. I think so.
• 5:43
  Yeah, Yeah, yeah. And then the pirates show up and
• 5:50
  there's a there's a big fight between Luffy and Zorro.
• 5:54
  I think Nami does. Does Nami even join in?
• 5:58
  No, because she she sniffs around the manner because the
• 6:02
  young lass that Usopps been like flirting with and telling these
• 6:06
  pirate tales too. She's like, oh, she's really
• 6:09
  rich and I want money for some reason.
• 6:12
  I'll we'll get it in later. So I'm sure she does that.
• 6:17
  So she's like kind in the background but kind of snooping
• 6:21
  about. Nami's always like, she's a main
• 6:24
  character, but she's a bit of a background character when it
• 6:26
  comes to fighting. A lot of the time she's like one
• 6:29
  of the weaker members of the crew at the moment.
• 6:33
  Yeah. So the rest of the people just
• 6:36
  fight off the pirates. And this is like the first big
• 6:39
  battle that we came to see where there's a lot of pirates and
• 6:42
  Lufians are all basically do all the work and in the mall.
• 6:45
  Yeah, change, yeah. And then Luffy takes on Captain
• 6:52
  Kuru. He does.
• 6:53
  He's out with a bag attack. And yeah, that's the end of
• 7:01
  Captain Kuru pretty much. And it beats them up and all of
• 7:05
  the pirates take off apart from Django, who is unconscious in
• 7:09
  the woods. Because is it Zora?
• 7:12
  Zora went to soft Go and take them on.
• 7:15
  Yeah, yeah. And I think there's a point
• 7:19
  where there's a point in this which I really like.
• 7:22
  I'm not a fan if the the Syrup Village arc.
• 7:29
  I think I don't like the the pirates that are on it only
• 7:33
  because the cats and the cat themed.
• 7:36
  I'm I'm sensing that whenever they're fighting someone,
• 7:39
  everyone, every crew has their thing, like Boogie and the
• 7:42
  circus pirates and Kuro and his his cat in his glasses weighs
• 7:47
  out this all the time and his little long claws.
• 7:50
  Yeah, but there's a lot of themes.
• 7:51
  There's like cake, pirates and all sorts.
• 7:54
  Which is fine and I just. I just like this theme plus and
• 7:59
  but, but there's there's a point where Usop's been like beaten to
• 8:02
  the ground. He's a weakling with a with a
• 8:04
  little catapult. And there's Luffy and Zorro and
• 8:10
  they're just kind of like in the background watching the fight
• 8:14
  and Usop's continually getting knocked down very easily.
• 8:19
  And they won't do anything until he like, wants to shows that
• 8:25
  he's going to do something instead of relying on someone
• 8:28
  else to do it, which I think's a proper class moment.
• 8:31
  So at that moment where Moussop's like his legs are
• 8:35
  buckle in and he kind of like stand up properly.
• 8:39
  And Zorro is just like he starts to go after the girl who was
• 8:42
  getting kidnapped by Django. And Zorro is basically just
• 8:47
  like, I'll carry you because you're actually doing something.
• 8:51
  I thought you were going to be like, oh, there's a bit I really
• 8:53
  like, and I thought you were going to say when Django gets
• 8:56
  the shovel up the bump. Oh yeah, Django get to shovel
• 9:02
  up. He's bombed by minor children.

  That happens. And how?

  Did. How did you feel about Usopp's
• 9:11
  back story though, with like the whole like his dad's left and
• 9:14
  his mom's dying. So we he keeps like running
• 9:17
  back, his mom saying all the pirates are coming and it's
• 9:19
  because he wants his dad to come back kind of thing.
• 9:21
  And he's like, dad's coming back to be with us.
• 9:24
  Did you have any emotion with that?
• 9:27
  I don't think it was sad enough, and so at this time, at the time
• 9:34
  of watching it, I'm guessing that I'll improve the time, but
• 9:37
  I don't like yourself as a character.
• 9:39
  I think he's he's back story's a bit meh.
• 9:42
  His dad was a couple of islands over and he was like, no, I'm
• 9:45
  not even going to see him. He's a boy who cried wolf.

  The village kind of do have a love hate relationship with him,
• 9:51
  but I just have a he's he's just a cowardly wimp at the minute.

  Even when you get up to the log town, it's a he's still a
• 10:02
  sniveling coward. He's kind of like Corby with a
• 10:05
  bit older and he kind of has a skill.
• 10:09
  Who stops always going to have these like, sort of cowardly
• 10:13
  ways and how he's lying a lot of the time.
• 10:16
  But he has his moments to shine. So I still don't think.

  But there is moments where it's like, oh, wow, he's actually
• 10:24
  doing something for once. Yeah, a lot of like I need to
• 10:30
  like pay attention to all of the lies that he tells as well on
• 10:33
  the second go through this because I've read stuff that
• 10:38
  says that all of his lies end up coming true.
• 10:42
  I don't know if he's going to like fight like a giant goldfish
• 10:47
  and be on an island of poo and stuff like that, Right.
• 10:54
  I mean, I don't think that's happened yet.
• 10:55
  I can't really remember. I don't.

  I don't think he's fought a giant fish, but because he does.

  Say a lot Even so if it all comes true then he's he's going

  to be a captain if he's in a proper sea warrior, isn't he

  then? Yeah, hopefully, but.

  Hopefully because I want him, I want to like him, but at the

  minute he's just a sniveling little coward and it I don't

  think he serves a purpose on the crew yet.

  You may have potential and promise, but.

  I promise there will be moments where Usopp is an absolute
• 11:32
  badass, but he's still a sniveling wimp.

  So anyway the defeat Captain Ku Row and then they ask Kaya for a
• 11:45
  boat and she happily gives them a new boat called the Go and
• 11:50
  Mary named after other servant sheep boy Mary.

  Also, I think that this them get in the go and marry is the is
• 12:02
  the best thing about this arc Yeah, pretty much like I don't
• 12:09
  know if Usopp just suddenly appeared it would have been
• 12:11
  better. I think I just don't like
• 12:13
  Caronis cat people. I just don't get it.
• 12:17
  Didn't enjoy it. Yeah.
• 12:21
  And even even them Usopp's crew at the end when obviously crows
• 12:27
  down and disappeared or whatever and all of the crew were gone.

  The three kids are just saying, oh, actually I want to be an
• 12:34
  engineer. Actually I want to be a chef.
• 12:36
  I'm not even going to continue this on.
• 12:41
  So we also found out that Captain Kuru wasn't defeated by
• 12:45
  Captain Axe, by Acton Morgan, and he just basically killed all
• 12:50
  the marines on the boat that Morgan was on and then said the
• 12:54
  morgue. Oh, they hypnotized Morgan,
• 12:55
  didn't they, so that he thought that somebody else was a Captain
• 13:00
  Ku Row, just a look alike the most unlucky bloke in the world,
• 13:05
  just some random guy with black hair and glasses.
• 13:08
  And it's like, oh, you're going to die now because everyone
• 13:11
  thinks you this person. And that's how acts.
• 13:13
  And Morgan got his position there.
• 13:16
  That is hilarious, but very unfortunate for that bloke.
• 13:22
