Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This media podcast. Welcome to Meet Eat Trivia, the only
- 0:12Speaker 1: game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host Spence
- 0:15Speaker 1: in New Art and today we're joined by Janice Patelis,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Brodie Henderson, Seth Morris, Sean Weaver, Alyssa Smith, Rick Hutton,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and Max Barta. If you're not familiar, this is a
- 0:25Speaker 1: ten round quiz show with questions from meat eaters for
- 0:28Speaker 1: verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking, and there
- 0:31Speaker 1: is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars
- 0:34Speaker 1: to the conservation organization of the winners choosing. But there's
- 0:39Speaker 1: a twist for this week's episode of trivia. This is
- 0:42Speaker 1: episode one of the Meat Eater Trivia Tournament. There will
- 0:47Speaker 1: be three episodes total, and by the end of the
- 0:49Speaker 1: last one we'll have crowned a champion of Meat Eater Trivia.
- 0:55Speaker 1: How do you guys feel about that? Real good? That's
- 0:58Speaker 1: pretty exciting. You'all think you gotta shot? Nope, I don't
- 1:03Speaker 1: know what happens if you win this playoff, but overall,
- 1:08Speaker 1: someone has more wins than you in the regular season.
- 1:12Speaker 1: That's okay. That's that's how competitive sports work. It's not
- 1:15Speaker 1: always the best team that wins. It's like the best
- 1:17Speaker 1: team for the last five games of the year or
- 1:20Speaker 1: the last five series of the year or whatever. So
- 1:23Speaker 1: a team that has like two wins in the regular
- 1:26Speaker 1: season in the NFL doesn't even make the playoffs. Well,
- 1:29Speaker 1: this this is to get into the episode. You're not
- 1:33Speaker 1: taking previous performance into consideration. Now hold that thought, Brody.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Well we'll we'll get back to that here very soon.
- 1:41Speaker 1: So here's how this is going to work. At first.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You're not going to touch on your cut off this. Yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 1: I gotta cut off sweatshirt. I've made a couple of
- 1:51Speaker 1: them this last year. I think this is like the
- 1:53Speaker 1: perfect garment for Montana. You don't have the sleeves, you
- 1:56Speaker 1: can like still throw up a hood um. This was
- 1:59Speaker 1: an inspired by New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who's
- 2:03Speaker 1: been rocking one for like a decade And it looks terrible,
- 2:07Speaker 1: but I love it. I think everyone should. Happle. You
- 2:09Speaker 1: find that your forearms often get overheated. Uh, usually it's
- 2:13Speaker 1: my armpits. Yeah, it's it's just like kind of kind
- 2:16Speaker 1: of clunky. It's I find that I'm often rolling my
- 2:18Speaker 1: sleeves up on a sweatshirt, so I cut the sleeves
- 2:22Speaker 1: off of getting a new tattoo, like this was a
- 2:31Speaker 1: pre tattoo, Spencer, I think you should clarify though, for listeners,
- 2:36Speaker 1: it's not like a cut off like the entire sleeve.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I have some of those two those are those you do? Okay,
- 2:41Speaker 1: that's like a really nice yeah. This this is like
- 2:44Speaker 1: a T shirt with a hood that's made out of
- 2:47Speaker 1: sweatshirt material. Highly recommended. Do you have anywhere like the
- 2:51Speaker 1: bottom him is cut off a little bit if I
- 2:56Speaker 1: was rocking that Janice patelis bod maybe the Runners Boy,
- 3:01Speaker 1: but I'm not ready. Just like show Naval this this
- 3:04Speaker 1: is just a ship off the arm tattoos, all right.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I appreciate you telling everybody about that. I'm gonna go try.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I have so many hoodies at home. I got no
- 3:11Speaker 1: problem sacrifice. You should. You should talk to our merchandising
- 3:14Speaker 1: department and maybe the First Light about at first light.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I did that with my leafy suit mainly because I
- 3:25Speaker 1: forgot a lens cover one time and I was running
- 3:27Speaker 1: my UH which is white, and so I cut my
- 3:32Speaker 1: sleeve off right there and slipped that over my lens
- 3:34Speaker 1: off one arm. I realized that I freaking love it. No,
- 3:39Speaker 1: it's just running one arm though, well no, I do
- 3:41Speaker 1: it to both. Okay, So here's how this is gonna work.
- 3:45Speaker 1: This episode has seven players on it, four of which
- 3:48Speaker 1: will move on to the championship. The next episode will
- 3:51Speaker 1: have seven new players on it, and just like with
- 3:53Speaker 1: this show, only four of them will move on to
- 3:56Speaker 1: the next round. By episode three, will be down to
- 3:58Speaker 1: the last eight contestants, and one of those eight will
- 4:01Speaker 1: be crowned the champion. Now, just like with the organized sports,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I thought it only be right to reward those players
- 4:08Speaker 1: who have shown regular season dominance. So, as the top
- 4:12Speaker 1: dog in Mediator Trivia, I'm granting Brodie Henderson an automatic
- 4:16Speaker 1: bid to make it to the third episode. That means
- 4:19Speaker 1: Brodie is already moving on, and there are three other
- 4:23Speaker 1: spots that are now up for grabs for you other
- 4:25Speaker 1: six players. So, Brodie, so I could really screw someone.
- 4:30Speaker 1: What do you mean, Well, if you're only taking four,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'm taking plus three. Moving on. I get you, I
- 4:39Speaker 1: get you good. Now, Brodi, I'm gonna put you on
- 4:41Speaker 1: the spot here between these other six players. Who do
- 4:44Speaker 1: you think it will be the three that move onto
- 4:47Speaker 1: the championship got to give you don't don't have it,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and Seth he knew it. He didn't even have to
- 4:56Speaker 1: think about that. I'm sorry, I think you guys should
- 5:02Speaker 1: be worried about the underdog here last time. I don't
- 5:08Speaker 1: even know why I'm here. Didn't have to remind me.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I know we're just gonna keep that between us. But
- 5:20Speaker 1: I'm surprised to hear about this little bye situation because
- 5:23Speaker 1: originally when the email came out, there were no buys.
- 5:26Speaker 1: There must have been a bunch of complaining that went on.
- 5:30Speaker 1: There was some complaining, and I thought they had merit,
- 5:33Speaker 1: so I went with it. I liked the idea of
- 5:35Speaker 1: of granting bye to those players, not that I think
- 5:37Speaker 1: Brody needs it. Imagine he's going to be in the
- 5:40Speaker 1: top four anyway, but just in case he has a
- 5:43Speaker 1: fluke performance, Our our guy with the most wins, is
- 5:47Speaker 1: going to be in the championship. Yeah, he needs to
- 5:49Speaker 1: be there. Bill Belichick would accept the first round by
- 5:53Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah, organized sports man not the previous game
- 5:56Speaker 1: of trivia, Brody called me out for using the word
- 5:59Speaker 1: fun and asked if that's really a word. Well, according
- 6:02Speaker 1: to Miriam Webster, it is so long as you use
- 6:05Speaker 1: funner or funnest as adjectives, they are acceptable. On that show,
- 6:10Speaker 1: when I said this will be a funner stat to
- 6:13Speaker 1: look at a year from now, it was an adjective,
- 6:15Speaker 1: so therefore it was correct. So Brodie, I hope this
- 6:19Speaker 1: makes you feel a bit stupider for not knowing that
- 6:22Speaker 1: is a word. And yes it does. Stupider is a word.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Um yeah, okay, Well, now I can say things like
- 6:31Speaker 1: mule deer hunting is funner than white tail hunting. That'll work.
- 6:37Speaker 1: You should work. Yeah, you just start start throwing around. Uh,
- 6:40Speaker 1: it's gonna like make people want to scratch their ears,
- 6:42Speaker 1: but I think you should do it anyway, right. Also,
- 6:45Speaker 1: on a previous game of trivia, Cal asked, who the
- 6:48Speaker 1: heaviest president we've had? Is That? Honor goes to William Taft,
- 6:52Speaker 1: who was three hundred forty pounds. He's followed by Grover
- 6:55Speaker 1: Cleveland at to sixty and Donald Trump at two thirty nine.
- 6:59Speaker 1: At the other to the spectrum is James Madison, our
- 7:02Speaker 1: lightest president ever. He stood five ft four inches tall
- 7:06Speaker 1: and weighed in at just over one hundred pounds, which
- 7:09Speaker 1: means it would take about three point one James Madison's
- 7:11Speaker 1: to equal one William Taft And with that we're onto
- 7:15Speaker 1: Meat Eater Trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look, I need
- 7:20Speaker 1: to know what I stay in the wind everything. How's that?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Just tend to win everything? Suckers Round one. Question one.
- 7:39Speaker 1: The topic is fishing. This first great question comes to
- 7:42Speaker 1: us via Kale Patterson. If you have a question you
- 7:45Speaker 1: think is right for Meat Eater Trivia, send it to
- 7:47Speaker 1: Trivia at the meat eater dot com. And as always,
- 7:50Speaker 1: this first question will be multiple choice. What was the
- 7:54Speaker 1: most stocked fish by federal hatcheres in? Was it catfish, chinook, salmon,
- 8:02Speaker 1: American shad or bluegill? Again? What was the most stocked
- 8:08Speaker 1: fish by federal hatcheries? In your choices are channel, catfish,
- 8:15Speaker 1: chinook salmon, American shad, were blue gill? Does everybody have
- 8:22Speaker 1: an answer? Good? Over there, Seth lots to be racing.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Oh you should never change your answer, man, You go
- 8:31Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Seawan saying American shad,
- 8:34Speaker 1: Rick saying chinook salmon, Brodie saying chinook salmon, Alyssa saying
- 8:39Speaker 1: chinook salmon, Max saying American shad, Seth saying chinook salmon
- 8:44Speaker 1: and Janice saying chinook salmon. The room did very well.
- 8:48Speaker 1: The answer is chinook salmon over Chinook salmon were overwhelmingly
- 8:57Speaker 1: the most stocked fish in one hatchery has released over
- 9:01Speaker 1: thirty seven million of them, which is followed by Wally
- 9:04Speaker 1: at twenty seven million, American shat at nine million, in
- 9:07Speaker 1: rainbow trout at eight million. I think that federal was
- 9:11Speaker 1: a little hint he gave there. It's definitely a hint
- 9:13Speaker 1: because federal hatcheries sort of have an emphasis on like threatened, endangered,
- 9:18Speaker 1: vulnerable species, while state agencies usually focus more on game fish.
- 9:23Speaker 1: So that's that's definitely a notable part of the question.
- 9:26Speaker 1: What a question to the topic is conservation. What is
- 9:30Speaker 1: the only ferret that's native to North America? Again, what
- 9:37Speaker 1: is the only ferret that's native to North America? There's
- 9:42Speaker 1: some confident writing going on in the room by most
- 9:46Speaker 1: of the believe that the answer is going to make
- 9:48Speaker 1: for some fun you know what I'm talking about. Maybe
- 9:52Speaker 1: we'll see does everybody have an answer? If Steve, this
- 10:01Speaker 1: is a little higher pitched, I can only think of
- 10:04Speaker 1: weasels right now. Do you have an answer? Max? Just
- 10:08Speaker 1: ferret go ahead of answers. We have Sean saying the blackfooted,
- 10:13Speaker 1: Rick saying blackfooted, Brody's saying blackfooted, Alyssa is saying the
- 10:17Speaker 1: white ferret, Max without an answer, Seth and Janice saying
- 10:21Speaker 1: the black footed. They got it. The answer is the
- 10:24Speaker 1: black footed ferret. Their population used to range from Canada
- 10:28Speaker 1: to Mexico, but now they're only found in about a
- 10:31Speaker 1: half dozen states. They're considered to be one of the
- 10:33Speaker 1: most endangered mammals on the continent, with only about three
- 10:37Speaker 1: hundred left in the wild. Do you know how they
- 10:39Speaker 1: found found him? I feel like Steve's talked about this before.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Wasn't there one like brought one home and Yoming? That's right?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Question three I was. I thought it was gonna be
- 10:51Speaker 1: fun because of the whether or not we had to
- 10:53Speaker 1: use the hyphen now doesn't matter unlets, which recently was
- 10:58Speaker 1: a topic on a Meat eat Or podcast, right because Uh,
- 11:02Speaker 1: Steve's mad that Pat Dirkin thinks that you should still
- 11:05Speaker 1: use the hype And when you say white tailed deer,
- 11:08Speaker 1: that brings up that post that you had the other
- 11:11Speaker 1: day where Pat Durkin called Steve an ignorant slut. I
- 11:15Speaker 1: really enjoyed that, but you didn't explain what that what
- 11:17Speaker 1: the context around it was in your post. You mean,
- 11:20Speaker 1: like what Dirk is referencing, or why he called Stephen
- 11:23Speaker 1: ignorant slut? Uh? Aren't they one of the same thing? Well,
- 11:27Speaker 1: like the conversation was around the white tailed dear topic.
- 11:30Speaker 1: But Dirk was, of course what I thought, quoting the office.
- 11:34Speaker 1: But it turns out that references even older and goes
- 11:36Speaker 1: back to SNL I didn't know. Oh, okay, I think
- 11:41Speaker 1: it was a character that Dan dan Ackroid played on
- 11:43Speaker 1: on SNL um, But what's the context of that? Who
- 11:46Speaker 1: is he calling? He was he was like a correspondent
- 11:47Speaker 1: for the weekend to update desk and they would be
- 11:50Speaker 1: having conversation and be going, that's nice, Jan you ignorance.
- 11:54Speaker 1: But like it was, it was his catchphrase, and that's
- 11:56Speaker 1: what Michael Scott got from the office. You know, Dirk
- 11:58Speaker 1: and I think would be a a formidable opponent and stuff.
- 12:05Speaker 1: We got to have him out next year. That happen,
- 12:09Speaker 1: we can, we can definitely make that happen. But my
- 12:10Speaker 1: familiarity again was Michael calling Dwight and ignorant slut. But
- 12:15Speaker 1: I had no idea that reference was even older and
- 12:17Speaker 1: Dirk being even a layer deeper than that. I can
- 12:20Speaker 1: really appreciate someone who's around age seventy calling Stephen ignorant slut.
- 12:26Speaker 1: But Pat wouldn't actually just fly off the hook and
- 12:29Speaker 1: call anybody ever that. So it was great that it
- 12:31Speaker 1: was referencing question three. The topic is foraging. Wild rice
- 12:38Speaker 1: is the official grain of what glacial lake state. Wild
- 12:43Speaker 1: rice is the official grain of what glacial lake state.
- 12:50Speaker 1: A lot of thinking going on here. It seemed as
- 12:54Speaker 1: though nobody knew it right off the bat. I just
- 12:58Speaker 1: wasn't assure on the brief creation to make sure I'm
- 13:04Speaker 1: gonna spell it out. Does everybody have an answer? Go
- 13:08Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Sean saying Minnesota,
- 13:11Speaker 1: Rick saying Minnesota, Brody saying Minnesota, Alyssa saying California long
- 13:15Speaker 1: way from the Great Lakes, Max saying Minnesota, Seth saying Minnesota,
- 13:20Speaker 1: and Janice saying Minnesota. You didn't say great lakes, you
- 13:24Speaker 1: said glacials. I'm sorry, I said glacial lakes. I made
- 13:27Speaker 1: great legs. Sorry about that. You all got it anyway?
- 13:29Speaker 1: It is yes, speak Rice SERRONI the San Francisco treat Hey,
- 13:36Speaker 1: there's a lot of Nia. There is also wild rice
- 13:43Speaker 1: in California. I'm sorry Lista, I I should not have
- 13:46Speaker 1: shamed you for your answer. I did not say great
- 13:48Speaker 1: lakes like I meant to. I said glacial lakes. Michigan
- 13:51Speaker 1: has been attempting to pass a bill since that would
- 13:55Speaker 1: also make wild rice there official state grain, but it
- 13:57Speaker 1: hasn't happened yet. If you want to learn how to
- 14:00Speaker 1: cook with wild rice, go to the meat eater dot
- 14:02Speaker 1: com and check out Dan yell prue It's recipe for
- 14:04Speaker 1: turkey and wild rice soup or Justin Townsend's recipe for
- 14:08Speaker 1: duck and wild rice castle next time, can you tell
- 14:12Speaker 1: us what that what benefit it does either the grain
- 14:16Speaker 1: or the state when they have in official grain in
- 14:19Speaker 1: Michigan for example, Why they have been trying to do
- 14:21Speaker 1: this for four years now? Uh, it would benefit the
- 14:24Speaker 1: tribes in a way that when you have something listed
- 14:27Speaker 1: as an official grain, it makes others respected to where
- 14:30Speaker 1: they could manage the resource better than there's more awareness
- 14:33Speaker 1: around it. So that's why they're trying to do it there. Um,
- 14:36Speaker 1: they recognize that they don't even know if it should
- 14:39Speaker 1: be listed as like endangered vulnerable if it's a like
- 14:41Speaker 1: a species of least concern, So in Michigan specifically, they're
- 14:45Speaker 1: trying to get established as the official grain and then
- 14:47Speaker 1: they think that will open up the door to do
- 14:49Speaker 1: other things. Question for the topic is deer camp. This
- 14:55Speaker 1: is our listener question of the Week, which was won
- 14:57Speaker 1: by Christie Holmes for sending in this great question. Christie
- 15:00Speaker 1: is going to get a set of Meat Eater coasters
- 15:02Speaker 1: that were signed by everyone in the room. If you
- 15:04Speaker 1: want a chance to win our listener question in the
- 15:06Speaker 1: week and send your question to Trivia at the meat
- 15:09Speaker 1: eater dot com. Only two women have appeared solo on
- 15:13Speaker 1: the cover of Field and Stream magazine. Name one of them.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Only two women have appeared solo on the cover of
- 15:24Speaker 1: Field and Stream magazine. Name one of those women, Christie
- 15:29Speaker 1: from Maine. Yeah, I think she. I think I wanted
- 15:34Speaker 1: to ask her for her address to send her this prize,
- 15:36Speaker 1: and it was she was a Maynard. I'm going man
- 15:40Speaker 1: on torn between two really bad. Thank you Christie for
- 15:44Speaker 1: for sending in this great question again. Looking for one
- 15:47Speaker 1: of the two women that appeared solo on the cover
- 15:50Speaker 1: of Field and Stream magazine. Decisions Man, Yeah, this is
- 15:55Speaker 1: a good question. That's why it's our listener question of
- 15:58Speaker 1: the week. Does everybody have any not yet? I want
- 16:01Speaker 1: some more time to think about my already wrote one down.
- 16:03Speaker 1: You're just thinking if that's the one you want to
- 16:05Speaker 1: go with, YEP, I'll go with it. Go ahead and
- 16:09Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Sean saying, Eva Shocky saying Kelly,
- 16:14Speaker 1: Glenn Brodie saying Joan Wolfe Joan and Wolfe, Alyssa saying
- 16:20Speaker 1: Elissa Smith, you should make that happen, Max saying Eva Shocky,
- 16:25Speaker 1: Seth saying Annie Oakley, be Hone saying Eva Shocky. The
- 16:30Speaker 1: correct answers are Queen Elizabeth and Eva Shocky. Spencer. You
- 16:39Speaker 1: probably don't even know who Joan Wolfe is. I don't.
- 16:41Speaker 1: That's why I had to ask you who who Elizabeth? Yeah,
- 16:45Speaker 1: I would like contact. Queen Elizabeth appeared on the cover
- 16:48Speaker 1: with her Hunting Dogs in nineteen seventy six, and Eva
- 16:51Speaker 1: Shoki was on the cover with her bow in Many
- 16:54Speaker 1: other women have been on the cover of the magazine,
- 16:57Speaker 1: but we're always there with men, which makes the Queen
- 17:00Speaker 1: Elizabeth and Eva Shaka covers unique. And I could have
- 17:06Speaker 1: because I could have seen that it would have been
- 17:07Speaker 1: her and her dad on the cover, though, brod, are
- 17:12Speaker 1: you gonna explain she's a pioneer of American fly fishing.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Very cool, like I think that was named after her
- 17:23Speaker 1: either her husband. Okay, because he spelled it the same
- 17:27Speaker 1: as that spelled brought the question five. We will get
- 17:30Speaker 1: a scoreboard update from Phil after this. The topic is biology.
- 17:35Speaker 1: This animal, whose nickname is the walking pine cone, was
- 17:39Speaker 1: once thought to be the source of COVID nineteen. Gain.
- 17:46Speaker 1: The topic is biology. This animal, whose nickname is the
- 17:49Speaker 1: walking pine cone, was once thought to be the source
- 17:53Speaker 1: of COVID nineteen. Yeah, I've never heard of this before.
- 17:58Speaker 1: It's an animal too. It's an animal I would love
- 18:04Speaker 1: to imagine coming from a pine cone. Hey, you never know,
- 18:11Speaker 1: we had some quick answers in the room, and we
- 18:13Speaker 1: also have some non answers in the room. It seems
- 18:16Speaker 1: like a portion of our players knew this right off
- 18:18Speaker 1: the bat. You've got all three of you think you
- 18:20Speaker 1: know what? Sean Rick Brody write down already? Oh gotcha?
- 18:27Speaker 1: Back of your board says, suck it, Brodie. There's a
- 18:30Speaker 1: couple of couple around here. Does everybody have anything to
- 18:36Speaker 1: feel loved? Sure? Scribbling, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 18:42Speaker 1: We have Sean saying pangolin, Rick saying armadillo, Brodie sang pangolin,
- 18:47Speaker 1: Alyssa saying armadillo, Max saying badger, Seth saying bat, and
- 18:52Speaker 1: Janice saying Rhett. The correct answer is pangolin. So we
- 18:57Speaker 1: had a few people get it early in the pandemic.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Some researchers thought that black market pangolin sold in Wuhan
- 19:04Speaker 1: were the source of COVID, but a study that looked
- 19:07Speaker 1: at human and pangulin genomes later exonerated them as the culprit.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Pengulins were a natural suspect because there are nearly two
- 19:14Speaker 1: hundred thousand of them sold on the black market each year,
- 19:17Speaker 1: and they do carry other types of coronavirus. Can you
- 19:21Speaker 1: just kind of describe a pangulin. It looked like an armadillo.
- 19:24Speaker 1: It's like an armadillo. I think there's eight kinds in
- 19:27Speaker 1: the world. Um, they're like very scaly. It almost looks
- 19:31Speaker 1: like you. Honest, if I said it looks like a pokemon,
- 19:34Speaker 1: would you know what that means? I think it looks
- 19:38Speaker 1: like and they're like eight million different kinds of pokemons. Yes,
- 19:43Speaker 1: Like if I had to think of an animal that
- 19:45Speaker 1: looks like it was created for anime. Pangolin would be
- 19:48Speaker 1: one of them. That's a that's a good way to say, Phil,
- 19:52Speaker 1: agree or disagree with me on the pangulin looking like
- 19:55Speaker 1: a Pokemon, and then give us a scoreboard update. Now,
- 19:57Speaker 1: why did you choose Phil? Well, here's the Thinkspence, I
- 20:00Speaker 1: can tell you a lot about Pokemon and nothing about
- 20:02Speaker 1: a bank. Okay in uh. At one point we have
- 20:07Speaker 1: a Lissa Smith Uh. Then coming up next with two
- 20:09Speaker 1: points is Max. Then with three points apiece, we have
- 20:14Speaker 1: Seth and Rick and all tied for first place. We
- 20:18Speaker 1: have Sean, Janis and Brody with four points. This is tight,
- 20:23Speaker 1: good game to see who is going to move on
- 20:25Speaker 1: to the Trivia Championship. Question six. The topic is states.
- 20:38Speaker 1: This next great question comes to us via Dylan Irvin.
- 20:42Speaker 1: If you have a question you think is right for
- 20:44Speaker 1: Meat Eater Trivia, you can send it to trivia at
- 20:47Speaker 1: the meat eater dot com. Now this is a visual question.
- 20:50Speaker 1: If you want to see what the room is seeing,
- 20:52Speaker 1: then go to Instagram and check out at Spencer new Art.
- 20:55Speaker 1: I will make it my most recent post. I am
- 20:58Speaker 1: showing the room a picture of a license plate with
- 21:02Speaker 1: the state's name photoshopped out. You need to tell me
- 21:06Speaker 1: what state this belongs to. Now Here's why this is relevant.
- 21:12Speaker 1: The license plate says Sportsman's Paradise on it. Oh Rick
- 21:18Speaker 1: didn't need any time at all see that. Neither did Brodie.
- 21:25Speaker 1: It's almost there are many paradise is out Kremlin, Colorado,
- 21:29Speaker 1: remember that? And and are you laughing because it's not
- 21:33Speaker 1: a sportsman's paradise, No it is. It's just a rinky
- 21:36Speaker 1: dink little town though, well that's what it's called. M hm.
- 21:42Speaker 1: You honest describe what you're seeing on that license plate.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It's looks like a I coup more of a sunrise background,
- 21:51Speaker 1: like slightly pink on the bottom and then kind of
- 21:56Speaker 1: fades into a yellow and then there's a um is
- 22:01Speaker 1: that a pelican? Looks like a pelican standing on this
- 22:05Speaker 1: should give everybody a clue standing on a piling and
- 22:10Speaker 1: it has the words Sportsman's paradise under it. I'm feeling
- 22:14Speaker 1: pretty confident. I'm torn. I'm torn between anyone else? Want
- 22:22Speaker 1: to look at what the want of the two man?
- 22:27Speaker 1: I just thought of another state that it could be that.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? No? No, I'm right down
- 22:36Speaker 1: my initial answer lots to be racing from Max. I
- 22:42Speaker 1: stuck about it. I just put the initials. Go ahead
- 22:45Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have Sean saying Louisiana. Rick
- 22:48Speaker 1: sang Louisiana. My circled answer is my I'm telling you two.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Brody sang Louisiana without an answer, Max saying Florida, Seth
- 22:59Speaker 1: saying South Carolina, and be honest saying Florida. The correct
- 23:05Speaker 1: answer is Louisiana. Boy, my second choice. Now Max does
- 23:11Speaker 1: have on his board to his credit, second choice Louisiana. Now.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Louisiana's nickname is the Sportsman's Paradise. Other monikers the state
- 23:19Speaker 1: goes by include Fisherman's Paradise, the Bayou State, the Sugar State,
- 23:24Speaker 1: the Child of the Mississippi, the Creole State, the Holland
- 23:27Speaker 1: of America, and the Pelican State. Man. I was just
- 23:31Speaker 1: there too, not too long ago. If anyone hand it
- 23:33Speaker 1: in him to get this right, Seth, I think it
- 23:35Speaker 1: was you. I know I didn't pay attention to Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 1: you were just um spend a majority of my time
- 23:41Speaker 1: on the ocean, though you don't. Yeah. Probably Question seven
- 23:50Speaker 1: the topic is cooking. This widely distributed reptile is said
- 23:55Speaker 1: to have seven distinct types of meat. What is it?
- 24:02Speaker 1: Say that again, this widely distributed reptile to have seven
- 24:07Speaker 1: distinct types of meat. He'd already be saying something you
- 24:12Speaker 1: don't say, because all right, this widely districted reptile seven
- 24:21Speaker 1: distinct types of meat? What is it? Are you and
- 24:24Speaker 1: Steve's because it was a certain way. I'm gonna arguing
- 24:29Speaker 1: how specific we have to be? You be, you need
- 24:32Speaker 1: to be. That's what I'm getting. If you just said,
- 24:34Speaker 1: like dear, I would not accept dear answer. You would
- 24:39Speaker 1: need to write down white tail deer one more time.
- 24:44Speaker 1: This one going to clear. That is said to have
- 24:48Speaker 1: seven distinct types of meat? What is it? Does everybody
- 24:54Speaker 1: have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 24:57Speaker 1: have Sean saying snapping turtle, saying common iguana, Brody saying
- 25:02Speaker 1: snapping turtle, Alyssa saying alligator, Max sang snapping turtle, Seth
- 25:07Speaker 1: sang snapping turtle, and Jana saying snapping turtle. They got it.
- 25:10Speaker 1: The answer is snapping turtle. I'm very glad you specified
- 25:16Speaker 1: you needed to have because I had I had turtle.
- 25:21Speaker 1: The seven types of meat, snapping turtles. Supposedly have our beef, chicken, fish, goat, pork, shrimp,
- 25:29Speaker 1: and veal. If you want to buy it online. The
- 25:31Speaker 1: bonus meat costs about forty dollars per pound, and if
- 25:34Speaker 1: you want to learn how to clean one yourself, then
- 25:36Speaker 1: turn to page two fifty six in the Meat Eator
- 25:39Speaker 1: Fish and Game Cookbook. That's one of the things I
- 25:42Speaker 1: miss most about living in Montana versus coming from Illinois
- 25:46Speaker 1: or South Dakota. All the reptiles and amphibians totally like
- 25:50Speaker 1: you just don't see snapping turtles across the road here.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I don't live in east from nothing like glacial lakes
- 25:54Speaker 1: of South Dakota, though you were just there at some
- 25:57Speaker 1: wacky museum. Those are broad, these words calling it wacky
- 26:03Speaker 1: not mine. You don't think that is slightly strange? Yes,
- 26:10Speaker 1: I would agree with it is slightly strange. Right a
- 26:14Speaker 1: question eight. We will get a scoreboard update phill after this.
- 26:18Speaker 1: The topic is conservation. This next great question comes to
- 26:21Speaker 1: is Via Howard Whiteman. If you have a question you
- 26:24Speaker 1: think is right for Mediator Trivia, send it to Trivia
- 26:27Speaker 1: at the meat Eator dot com. What organization is in
- 26:31Speaker 1: charge of the annual Christmas bird count? Again, what organization
- 26:38Speaker 1: is in charge of the annual Christmas bird count? Brody
- 26:43Speaker 1: knew it right away. Maybe what organization is in charge
- 26:51Speaker 1: of the annual bird count? Does everybody have an answer?
- 26:56Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Sean saying Audubon,
- 26:59Speaker 1: Rick saying ducks unlimited, Brodie saying Audubon, Alyssa saying Audibon,
- 27:04Speaker 1: Max saying US Fish and Wildlife Service, Seth saying the
- 27:07Speaker 1: Audubon Society, and Joanna saying the National Audubon Society. The
- 27:11Speaker 1: correct answer is the National Audubon Society. Spencer, you had
- 27:17Speaker 1: me with organization my seat? What's going on now? This
- 27:22Speaker 1: used to be referred to as that's right, Brodie, you
- 27:26Speaker 1: are the most anxious one of the room, and we
- 27:28Speaker 1: already know that he's moving on the championship. I really
- 27:32Speaker 1: want to know what's going on with everyone else. Some
- 27:34Speaker 1: people think that like the competitiveness between folks like you
- 27:37Speaker 1: and Steve is like a bit, but it's not. Now.
- 27:43Speaker 1: This used to be referred to as the Christmas side hunt,
- 27:46Speaker 1: where hunters would go afield Christmas Day to see who
- 27:49Speaker 1: could kill the most birds, but it was changed to
- 27:52Speaker 1: a birding survey event in nineteen hundred, which meant that
- 27:55Speaker 1: guns were no longer welcome. If you want to participate
- 27:58Speaker 1: in the Christmas bird count in twenty two, which I
- 28:01Speaker 1: plan too, because there's one in Bozeman, then go to
- 28:03Speaker 1: audubon dot org for more information. Phil give Brody a
- 28:08Speaker 1: scoreboard update. With five points, we have seth Morris flip
- 28:12Speaker 1: flop flasher. With six points, we have the honest Patelis
- 28:16Speaker 1: the Latvian Eagle, and tied for first place with seven
- 28:19Speaker 1: points are Brody Henderson, who we know was already moving
- 28:22Speaker 1: on in Sean Weaver Wow having a week Question nine,
- 28:28Speaker 1: The topic is hunting. What biblical figure was the great
- 28:33Speaker 1: grandson of Noah and described as a mighty hunter before
- 28:37Speaker 1: the Lord? What biblical figure was the great grandson of
- 28:43Speaker 1: Noah and described as this is a quote a mighty
- 28:47Speaker 1: hunter before the Lord. This pagan group did not know
- 28:52Speaker 1: it right off the bat. You should go vistite that
- 28:59Speaker 1: wacky museum. Bro went to learn a thing or two. Um,
- 29:05Speaker 1: speaking of Noah, It's bad that I don't know this. Yeah. Again,
- 29:12Speaker 1: What biblical figure was the great grandson of Noah? And

- 29:26Speaker 1: was described as the great grandson of Noah and quote
- 29:31Speaker 1: A mighty hunter before the Lord? Did I give it
- 29:35Speaker 1: to you that time? No, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 29:40Speaker 1: We have Sean saying, Solomon saying John listen without an answer,
- 29:46Speaker 1: Max saying Lyon, Seth saying St. Hubert, and Janice saying Josiah.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Nobody got it. The answer is nim Rod, oh man.
- 30:03Speaker 1: The usage of nim Rod as an insult was actually
- 30:06Speaker 1: popularized by the Looney Tunes Bugs. Bunny often sarcastically referred
- 30:11Speaker 1: to at Elmer Fudd as a Nimrod, and Daffy Duck
- 30:14Speaker 1: also called him my little nim Rod in a nineteen
- 30:17Speaker 1: eight cartoon. For more on nim Rod and hunting in
- 30:20Speaker 1: the Bible, listen to episode one nineteen of The Meat
- 30:23Speaker 1: Eater podcast with religious scholar Bracy Hill. Wasn't St. Hubert
- 30:28Speaker 1: the patient? He was? He inspired the Yeggermister logo Sat
- 30:36Speaker 1: Hubert saw a I think it was a white stag
- 30:39Speaker 1: walking through the forest with a glowing cross hanging from
- 30:42Speaker 1: its handlers. Maybe you'll see that one in Elk season honest.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Question ten, The topic is fishing. What reservoir is formed
- 30:52Speaker 1: by Hoover Dam? Again? What reservoir is formed by Hoover Dam? Brody,
- 31:02Speaker 1: did you know this? Hold on, hold on, hold on this.
- 31:07Speaker 1: This game is shaping up for overtime, which we haven't
- 31:09Speaker 1: had in a minute. Again, what reservoir is formed by
- 31:15Speaker 1: Hoover Dam? Does everybody have an answer? I don't feel
- 31:18Speaker 1: good about it. Oh easy racing? You good? Go ahead
- 31:24Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have Sean saying Lake Powell,
- 31:27Speaker 1: Rick saying Lake Powell, Brodie saying Lake Mead, Alyssa saying
- 31:31Speaker 1: Lake Mead, Max saying Hoover Lake, Sets saying Lake Powell,
- 31:36Speaker 1: and Janice saying Lake Powell. The correct answer is Lake Mead,
- 31:46Speaker 1: likely winner. Now the whole head show to Lake Powell.
- 31:50Speaker 1: When the answers were revealed, but Brody had it right?
- 31:55Speaker 1: What's it? What's Powell? Glen Canyon? Damn? I think Glenn Canyon? Yes? Yeah?
- 32:01Speaker 1: She so? How many answers did Brodie get right? Uh?
- 32:06Speaker 1: To be our winner? He ended with eight points? Eight points?
- 32:08Speaker 1: And how were the other three moving on? And what
- 32:10Speaker 1: was their score? That are going to the trivia Championship.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Just a countdown we have Sean was seven, Nice was six,
- 32:16Speaker 1: and Seth with five. Very good. Now what happens next
- 32:22Speaker 1: is Brodie is going to choose where our five dollar
- 32:25Speaker 1: donation goes. So Brodie, what's it going to be? Let's
- 32:29Speaker 1: do a trout unlimited. We haven't done like a water
- 32:33Speaker 1: fish conservation thing. I don't think have we, Spencer. I
- 32:36Speaker 1: think you're right, Brody, we have not done that. What
- 32:38Speaker 1: I like about when Brody wins is he diversifies his earnings.
- 32:41Speaker 1: It's not always going to like TRCP or the everyone
- 32:45Speaker 1: deserves a little bit. That's right. I like it. Brodie.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Well done. Now the next episode you're going to hear
- 32:51Speaker 1: again is going to be seven new players competing to
- 32:55Speaker 1: see who gets to go to the championship. For episode three,
- 33:00Speaker 1: I guess how many thoughts on who might make it
- 33:02Speaker 1: in that round? I think we have Steve Garrett, Corey
- 33:07Speaker 1: krin Um, folks like that. Who do you think it's
- 33:11Speaker 1: going to come out of that round? Now? I haven't
- 33:12Speaker 1: revealed this either to Steve, but he's also going to
- 33:14Speaker 1: get a bye, like did Well. We got to know
- 33:17Speaker 1: everyone that's playing to figure out who's Corey you think
- 33:21Speaker 1: Corey will probably Grett. Okay, it sounds like that's the
- 33:25Speaker 1: B team. I guess you had all the My corner
- 33:31Speaker 1: was the C team. I guess what is it gonna
- 33:35Speaker 1: take to win that round? To make it two round three?
- 33:39Speaker 1: Out of their group, that's probably only like three or four. Oh,
- 33:42Speaker 1: that's brutal. That's usually based on the script that I write,
- 33:46Speaker 1: and I haven't written that one yet, so we'll see
- 33:48Speaker 1: to be determined. It would be interesting if you gave
- 33:52Speaker 1: them the same questions you gave us today. You know,
- 33:55Speaker 1: I thought about that, but it wouldn't make for a
- 33:56Speaker 1: very good listen. No, nothing would be hard to tune
- 33:59Speaker 1: into that one is for sure. You know the answers.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Tune in next time for the next episode of Media Tribute.
- 34:05Speaker 1: You're gonna get ten new questions, seven new players, and
- 34:08Speaker 1: this is the only game show where conservation always wins.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Good job, Spencer, Thanks for having me, Spencer. I'm not
- 34:16Speaker 1: doing this again.
