SPEAKER_00: Today we're diving into Housemark's latest title, Soros, which showcases the impressive capabilities of Sony's PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.

SPEAKER_00: Buckle up as we explore how this game pushes the boundaries of tactile feedback and immersive storytelling.

SPEAKER_00: Soros, launching soon on April 30th, isn't just another game, it's a sensory experience crafted by Housemark, the finished studio that previously delivered the critically acclaimed Returnal.

SPEAKER_00: From the moment you hit the throttle and take off into this virtual cockpit, you're greeted with a unique intro that employs haptic feedback to enhance the storytelling.
• 0:39
SPEAKER_00: As the letters appear on screen, each one comes with a distinct vibration, creating a clicky sensation that draws you into the narrative faster than I was drawn into the unemployment line after my flying career got grounded.
• 0:51
SPEAKER_00: Housemark is making a strong case for the dual sense controller's innovative features, which allow for a deeper connection between players and the game.
• 1:00
SPEAKER_00: The haptic feedback isn't just for the big booms like gunfire or explosions, it also whispers sweet nothings during those intense cinematic moments, making the controller pulse like your heart during turbulence.
• 1:13
SPEAKER_00: It's quite the emotional ride.
• 1:14
SPEAKER_00: This level of detail shows that the studio is committed to leveraging technology to enhance gameplay, unlike my last flight when the autopilot took an unexpected coffee break.
• 1:25
SPEAKER_00: Now let's talk about Gregory Louden, the creative director at Housemark.
• 1:30
SPEAKER_00: He discusses the pressure they felt developing Returnal as a launch title for the PlayStation 5, which, let me tell you, is like flying solo in a thunderstorm.
• 1:39
SPEAKER_00: That pressure ramps up with Soros, as they aim to showcase what the hardware can truly do.
• 1:45
SPEAKER_00: Loudoun emphasizes their goal to inspire others in the industry to explore the potential of the dual sense features.
• 1:51
SPEAKER_00: Honestly, if they pull this off, it might just be the best landing since I retired, minus the runway closures.
• 1:59
SPEAKER_00: The gameplay in Soros is a fast-paced blend of dark sci-fi and roguelike elements, where the tactile feedback translates directly into how you experience battles with waves of alien foes.
• 2:11
SPEAKER_00: The adaptive triggers provide distinct resistance, making every action feel more engaging.
• 2:17
SPEAKER_00: Whether you're pulling the trigger for a quick shot or navigating through the game's environments, the controller's response is finely tuned to enhance your immersion.
• 2:26
SPEAKER_00: It's like having the perfect co-pilot, if only my last one had been so reliable.
• 2:31
SPEAKER_00: Buckle up, we're entering turbulent skies.
• 2:34
  SPEAKER_00: However, there's a caveat.
• 2:37
SPEAKER_00: Despite the impressive features of the DualSense, many games are still developed for multiple platforms.
• 2:43
SPEAKER_00: This raises the question of how many players will fully experience these enhancements.
• 2:48
SPEAKER_00: Industry analysts point out that while the DualSense offers a compelling experience, not all developers will prioritize these features due to compatibility concerns with third-party controllers.
• 2:59
SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like showing up for a flight on a brand new jet only to find out you're flying on a prop plane, talk about a letdown.
• 3:06
SPEAKER_00: Okay, we're entering clear skies now.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_00: Feel free to remove your seatbelt and roam around a little.
• 3:12
SPEAKER_00: The buzz surrounding Soros is palpable, and as players gear up for its release, there's a shared anticipation for how it will resonate with fans of immersive gameplay.
• 3:22
SPEAKER_00: With the PlayStation 5's dual sense technology at the forefront, Saros is poised to be more than just a game, it's an experience that could redefine how we interact with stories in gaming.
• 3:32
SPEAKER_00: If this doesn't get your engines revving, I don't know what will.
• 3:36
SPEAKER_00: I've added links to all the products mentioned in this episode down in the show notes.
• 3:40
SPEAKER_00: If you use those links, it's a small way to support the show, and it means a lot to me.
• 3:44
SPEAKER_00: Until next time, keep creating, keep adapting, and remember, the future doesn't wait for permission.
• 3:50
SPEAKER_00: This is Captain Overfit, signing off.
