- 2:22Speaker 2: Nothing was more confusing to the public eye than U
- 2:24Speaker 2: c l A Penn State. And for me, it's like,
- 2:28Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure UCLA is having the most confusing year
- 2:31Speaker 2: of our entire Like, this is a top ten football
- 2:33Speaker 2: team that travels to them. There's zero life with u
- 2:36Speaker 2: c l A. They have nothing going. What we got going,
- 2:38Speaker 2: We got more.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Coffee, more coffee.
- 2:44Speaker 3: We are on.
- 2:47Speaker 2: We got this right here. I'll think this last one.
- 2:49Speaker 2: You hitting that box over there at JP U.
- 2:52Speaker 1: C l A right then, we're talking college ball.
- 2:55Speaker 3: You don't have to. I just u CLA.
- 2:58Speaker 2: They're dead right, there are six feet under. They've already
- 3:01Speaker 2: the body is cold. It's over, Nico. Were already made
- 3:04Speaker 2: the worst decision, the worst decision ever. They lose to
- 3:08Speaker 2: un l V you know V spicy five miner right now,
- 3:10Speaker 2: don't be dispecting U and LV Taylor, and then Penn
- 3:14Speaker 2: State has a tough overtime loss to a now top
- 3:17Speaker 2: three team in college football, and they have to travel
- 3:20Speaker 2: to what is maybe one of the worst teams in
- 3:22Speaker 2: all of college football and Nico goes off three rushing touchdowns,
- 3:27Speaker 2: two throwing touchdowns and they beat James Franklin.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So off of two days to prepare, two days to prepare,
- 3:35Speaker 1: the interim head coach.
- 3:36Speaker 3: If somebody want to say his name in the microphone.
- 3:40Speaker 6: Like new Heisl or something, I.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Don't know, but electric factor, electric factory, his blonde, beautiful hair,
- 3:51Speaker 1: Tim Skipper, Okay, that's.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Jared Newhius is the OC New Heisl.
- 4:00Speaker 6: Dude.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Post game press conference too, was incredible.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And him just picking up hugging his wife after the game. Dude,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it was such a feel good moment. His old man's
- 4:09Speaker 1: in studio. Uh, he's he's doing some some TV and
- 4:12Speaker 1: he's just locked in at the end of the game,
- 4:15Speaker 1: like watching all of it.
- 4:17Speaker 3: It was honestly, it was really cool.
- 4:18Speaker 2: It was beautiful, dude.
- 4:19Speaker 1: And again two days to prepare. Bro, you got you
- 4:21Speaker 1: got Penn State coming into it pretty much a dead
- 4:23Speaker 1: football team.
- 4:24Speaker 3: You fire, you fire your head coach, all of it. Yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 3: and it come out get a win. Hang up, what
- 4:29Speaker 3: forty forty something on Penn State?
- 4:31Speaker 2: Crazy? Drew Allard's doing a postgame press conference saying, are
- 4:35Speaker 2: you you guys still in the playoff one and he
- 4:37Speaker 2: gets pissed. Would you think I'm asking you?
- 4:41Speaker 7: Have you seen James Franklin's Twitter, bro.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I saw James frank I saw the tweet. I'm going
- 4:46Speaker 1: to just honestly assume that somebody's running his Twitter.
- 4:49Speaker 7: Pro because if you go through his page, it's that
- 4:51Speaker 7: kind of the same thing each week. But the back
- 4:53Speaker 7: to back tweets are one of them right before the game.
- 4:56Speaker 7: It's the Penn State hype video and it just says
- 4:58Speaker 7: U c L A U c L A U c
- 4:59Speaker 7: l a hashtag. We are the very next tweek game week.
- 5:03Speaker 7: Let's do this together and go want to know ninty nation, Northwestern, Northwestern,
- 5:07Speaker 7: Northwestern and the commy has one point four k reply.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Hey, you're getting some engagement. I guess that's what your
- 5:16Speaker 1: social media manager can tell you. But you gotta figure
- 5:19Speaker 1: out that profile. You can't that stuff.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear Josh Pat's thoughts on James Franklin.
- 5:24Speaker 2: This this lucker.
- 5:25Speaker 3: He probably has him out. I don't. I don't know.
- 5:29Speaker 1: If I look at the pulse of Penn State, it's like,
- 5:31Speaker 1: you gotta fire him. Yeah, that's the pulse of Penn State.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Now you know what I mean, Like I really see,
- 5:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm worried about my Nebraska Cornhouse State fans.
- 5:40Speaker 8: Yeah what, I think there's a lot of Yeah, I
- 5:43Speaker 8: think a lot of fans would agree with you.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, I saw all the videos of this sad
- 5:47Speaker 1: boy Penn State fans coming out like it's Davy.
- 5:51Speaker 6: You guys know Davy. Davy is not happy.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Hey, Mitch j do you think Davey's not happy.
- 5:57Speaker 2: The DM saw you had with one of the assistant
- 6:01Speaker 2: coaches for Penn State.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Some would say this is that was the start of
- 6:05Speaker 6: the downfall.
- 6:05Speaker 2: That was the state of don't maybe Mitch Carsley and
- 6:08Speaker 2: this coach that will not be named is the reason
- 6:11Speaker 2: why Penn State's not having the success they should be having.
- 6:14Speaker 6: Some would say.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Busting with the boys To give a little context, Busting
- 6:17Speaker 1: with the Boys was trying to go out there for
- 6:18Speaker 1: the for the Oregan Penn State game.
- 6:20Speaker 3: It was up in the air. First, we didn't know
- 6:21Speaker 3: if we were.
- 6:21Speaker 6: Going to go.
- 6:21Speaker 2: We didn't know if we want to go. We want
- 6:22Speaker 2: to know if it was an option to go.
- 6:24Speaker 3: That was the thing.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and get kind of you know, get
- 6:27Speaker 1: behind the scenes and Mitch.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Mitch had a little he had an end. He knew
- 6:30Speaker 2: a guy because of a situation. I'm not gonna give
- 6:32Speaker 2: too many details because then people can kind of follow
- 6:34Speaker 2: that bouncing ball a little bit. He reaches out and
- 6:36Speaker 2: this guy, I'll Mitch speak for. I mean, Mitch is
- 6:39Speaker 2: salty about the situation.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yeah, he knows a coach there, Yeah, I know a
- 6:42Speaker 3: coach there.
- 6:42Speaker 8: A great relationship with said coach allegedly, allegedly and allegedly
- 6:48Speaker 8: I thought I had a great relationship with.
- 6:49Speaker 1: That coach, right, and he kind of patted you on
- 6:51Speaker 1: the head in the DM right, nothing like we do
- 6:53Speaker 1: it a little bit differently here.
- 6:54Speaker 6: Nothing casual about that.
- 6:55Speaker 7: Something doing it differently.
- 6:57Speaker 2: It was yeah, yeah, it was something. It was so
- 7:02Speaker 2: bad that Mitch came up to I'm assuming you as well,
- 7:04Speaker 2: but here was me. It was like, is this is this?
- 7:06Speaker 2: Like what what would I do with this? Like, buddy,
- 7:08Speaker 2: I would just back up. I would look at that
- 7:10Speaker 2: and be like, I'm gonna get the hell out of
- 7:12Speaker 2: here and ninja smoke myself out of that situation.
- 7:14Speaker 6: That's why I was scowed ducks all Street.
- 7:17Speaker 2: That's tough, dude, because hey, Penn State would be so
- 7:20Speaker 2: sick to see one of those wideouts. It'd be so
- 7:22Speaker 2: sick to check out the facilities, talk to the coaches
- 7:25Speaker 2: because they that's a good ball club. I mean, I
- 7:27Speaker 2: don't know what's gonna happen the rest of the season.
- 7:29Speaker 6: That's a blue blood ball club.
- 7:30Speaker 2: That's a blue blood ball club.
- 7:32Speaker 8: And we've been to some schools there, like there's no
- 7:34Speaker 8: way you're able to go there, like Notre Dame.
- 7:36Speaker 6: A great relationship with Notre Dame now and like.
- 7:40Speaker 4: I mean, it's over for him, buddy, Hey, hold on, now.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Look at the schedule.
- 7:45Speaker 7: They got Nebraska on there.
- 7:46Speaker 2: They do have Nebraska, they got Ohio State, they got Indiana.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Look, yeah, yea, they got yeah, Ohio State, Indiana, Michigan State, Nebraska, Rutgers.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Ain't no slap And.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Honestly, honestly, SI on the UCLA game, I know we're
- 8:01Speaker 2: all going overreact. There's obviously gonna be a course correction.
- 8:03Speaker 3: That's better than oct North.
- 8:05Speaker 2: But Northwestern's no longer guaranteed win. I was no longer
- 8:09Speaker 2: a guaranteed win.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Like, if you're a Husker fan right now, you're sitting
- 8:14Speaker 2: there going eleven and one is on the.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Table, it's on the table.
- 8:17Speaker 2: It's on the table.
- 8:18Speaker 1: We have a big one this week against Maryland. Maryland
- 8:20Speaker 1: is no sleepwalk Maryland not even a sleep no Maryland
- 8:22Speaker 1: go to Maryland as well. Yeah, I mean Maryland was
- 8:25Speaker 1: up twenty to nothing on Washington. Yes, twenty to nothing,
- 8:28Speaker 1: and then Maryland covers five plus five and a half.
- 8:33Speaker 1: But they're up twenty to nothing and then twenty four
- 8:35Speaker 1: unanswered by Washington to lose that game.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Maryland's a tough one.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Essentially, this is what's happened for Nebraska. They go to
- 8:40Speaker 2: a nice five star restaurant, they have a budget in mind,
- 8:43Speaker 2: and they see something that's really expensive on the menu.
- 8:44Speaker 2: They go, man, I wish I could have that, but
- 8:46Speaker 2: I can't have that because of Penn State. They can
- 8:48Speaker 2: now afford that. They say, you know, I might have
- 8:50Speaker 2: that little t bone, I might have that Tomahawks steak.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we do have a tear talk here for mister
- 8:54Speaker 1: uh Reginald Reginald. Mister Reginald Reginald static has the percentages
- 9:02Speaker 1: of Matt rule the Penn State risen giving his three
- 9:04Speaker 1: year stint history in James Franklin's Unsettling Waters. Something to
- 9:07Speaker 1: keep in mind. Hashtag tear talk. Why'd you put this
- 9:09Speaker 1: tear talk up there? There doesn't need to be any speculation.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Matt Rule is a husker for life, for life.
- 9:17Speaker 6: There was a.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Rum I've heard a couple of rumors that Matt Rule
- 9:21Speaker 2: salivatesd the idea of a Penn State job.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Listen, I'm aware of the I'm aware of this man,
- 9:26Speaker 4: Matt Rule, and I hey, friend of the show, love
- 9:29Speaker 4: Matt Role.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I've been on House Rules.
- 9:31Speaker 4: There's rumors flying around that Matt Rule has that one up,
- 9:37Speaker 4: and he's like, if that job was available, I would
- 9:40Speaker 4: love to go that way. Could you also heard that
- 9:44Speaker 4: Dylan ray Ola loves Blue and White? I was just
- 9:48Speaker 4: that emit Johnson loves I heard Holgerson's like, could you imagine.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Line?
- 9:58Speaker 2: How do you think about that show?
- 9:59Speaker 1: I was say, don't don't worry about sure him. I
- 10:01Speaker 1: will say, could you imagine? The heart just gets ripped
- 10:04Speaker 1: out of all of our chests, Coach.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Rule, all of ourl I will say this, this is
- 10:09Speaker 2: this is all Holgerson will be the number one dagger.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I'll say this if if that happened, I would be
- 10:17Speaker 2: so sad.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I will it gives me tough times, but I feel
- 10:21Speaker 3: very confidable.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Look, it's happening right now, it's not.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Would we go to a Penn State white out? If
- 10:25Speaker 3: that happened, Oh we.
- 10:26Speaker 2: We we'd have a Yeah, we would have free reign.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Could you imagine Matt Rule takes the job at Penn State.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Could you imagine Will text Matt Rule Mett Rules like
- 10:36Speaker 2: with the Penn State Dney allions, We're actually gonna focus
- 10:39Speaker 2: on our program. We don't allow outsiders in here. Hey,
- 10:42Speaker 2: enjoy your Huskers and Pat's will on the head.
- 10:45Speaker 7: That's seems like there would be a higher chance for
- 10:48Speaker 7: him to go there if y'all do go eleven and one.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Coach Eckler goes with him to coach Echo, would for
- 10:54Speaker 3: sure go with him.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Listen, that ain't happening, you guys, Will let we got
- 10:58Speaker 1: something coming for Nebraska to go eight and four this year.
- 11:03Speaker 2: So Rule states that keeps.
- 11:05Speaker 8: Me if in this hypothetical world that that happens with
- 11:08Speaker 8: that is a we need to check on Will if
- 11:10Speaker 8: we don't see anything from him within twelve hours on Twitter,
- 11:13Speaker 8: that is like, we need to drive to Will's house
- 11:16Speaker 8: make sure everything.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Oh, buddy, Matt Rule takes I'll be at his house
- 11:19Speaker 2: Will won't be there.
- 11:20Speaker 7: Will would be in there.
- 11:21Speaker 2: We'll be sleeping over for the next week and a half.
- 11:23Speaker 2: I'll be helping put down ruin Scottie and be like Choro,
- 11:26Speaker 2: you help him, I'll take care of the kids. That's
- 11:28Speaker 2: what's happening.
- 11:29Speaker 6: If Rule does hypothetically take the Penn State.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Job, he's not taking it.
- 11:33Speaker 8: You hypothetically are you interviewing for the head coach job
- 11:37Speaker 8: at Nebraska?
- 11:38Speaker 1: I would you know? Listen, I always hypathetically I have
- 11:43Speaker 1: I would have a learning curve getting to that level.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But let's just say hypothetically I know everything there is
- 11:47Speaker 1: a know about being a head coach. Absolutely, I'll be
- 11:49Speaker 1: training in a microphone for a whistle and then I'll
- 11:51Speaker 1: carry on the legacy destiny.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Would you know this would be destined?
- 11:55Speaker 7: I think at the very least you'll be in the
- 11:57Speaker 7: room of the interviews going on for the next head coach. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 7: I have to on the side of Nebraska, like, is
- 12:03Speaker 7: this some somebody we want to bring in?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:05Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, coach Rules not leaving.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I'll tell you this. You guys are bring up hypotheticals.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Will and I have had the conversation. If Will goes
- 12:16Speaker 2: and coaches at Nebraska. We have a played in place,
- 12:19Speaker 2: we have a we have.
- 12:20Speaker 1: A plan, players formula.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I'm letting you.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I'm just letting you guys know I Will and I
- 12:27Speaker 2: have talked about it. Buster will be just fine.
- 12:30Speaker 1: No, you guys, honestly absolutely not. You now have me
- 12:33Speaker 1: wanting to call coach rule. Yeah, just let's get out congratulate. Yes,
- 12:40Speaker 1: but there was something that kind of went over my head.
- 12:43Speaker 7: Who've been talking about you going to Penn State?
- 12:45Speaker 6: Like Will?
- 12:45Speaker 7: Who's been saying that Taylor.
- 12:49Speaker 3: There?
- 12:50Speaker 2: But I actually did hear the Penn State rumor?
- 12:54Speaker 3: There's no, there's no.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I didn't pull it out of supposed pulled out of
- 12:59Speaker 2: somebody's ass and given them money. I'm not saying that.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I'm not giving my source, but I'll tell you very reliable,
- 13:08Speaker 2: very guy.
- 13:08Speaker 7: I told him about Brock party.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Listen, we'll cut this cut this cut this cut that.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we talk about after, just talk about after say
- 13:20Speaker 1: it after all right, all right, listen, we all know
- 13:25Speaker 1: it's listen, it's gonna be. We got Maryland this weekend,
- 13:28Speaker 1: bad week to.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Be a turn for now you and Matt rule of
- 13:31Speaker 2: Maryland this weekend? Yeah, for now, house rules.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Hey, It's a great tear talk right here coming from
- 13:39Speaker 1: our boys at Huskers SG store.
- 13:42Speaker 3: This one.
- 13:43Speaker 1: The boys jeered at you last week for saying Soresby
- 13:45Speaker 1: at Cincinnati was a good quarterback. Since his sixty nine
- 13:48Speaker 1: yard zero touchdown, one intercession performance against the black Shirts,
- 13:53Speaker 1: the last four games, he's put up eleven and eighty
- 13:55Speaker 1: eight yards, twelve touchdown, zero interceptions and has them tied
- 13:58Speaker 1: for first in the Big Twelve Conference.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, your dog, hey, Will Compton was right about is
- 14:02Speaker 2: that those are dogs out there, no question, And everybody
- 14:05Speaker 2: in college football question looking at Cincinnati right now being like,
- 14:08Speaker 2: who's there one loss to you? Because they're dogs. It's Nebraskt,
- 14:10Speaker 2: you know who sees that more than anybody. The Penn
- 14:13Speaker 2: State and Indian Lions are seeing.
- 14:14Speaker 4: That and being like, oh my god, that defense Matt
- 14:17Speaker 4: rule over there.
- 14:18Speaker 5: They're killing it.
- 14:20Speaker 9: So yeah, I.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Agree, this is I mean, it's very impressive that the
- 14:23Speaker 2: Cincinnati faircase. That's a good pat.
- 14:27Speaker 1: We're doing things to kind of take it off the
- 14:28Speaker 1: subject of how well the Cincinnati Bearcats have been playing.
- 14:31Speaker 1: But to beat Iowa State the way that they beat
- 14:33Speaker 1: Ia State, they did have two cornerbacks out We were
- 14:35Speaker 1: aware of that going into the weekend, but handling rock
- 14:39Speaker 1: Obec and again like Bro Soresby, he is a hell
- 14:43Speaker 1: of a player. Bro and that running back, you know,
- 14:45Speaker 1: do you see him trucking old buddy Number fourteen. Don't
- 14:48Speaker 1: want to say his name because we're not about that.
- 14:50Speaker 1: It's just it's just numbers on a jersey. But fourteen,
- 14:53Speaker 1: they're kidding.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Molly want you guys. I tweeted that video just said,
- 14:57Speaker 2: dear God. Somebody responded and said, most guys can only
- 14:59Speaker 2: been at the way this guy can now bet.
- 15:00Speaker 6: At the chest.
- 15:02Speaker 3: And then later in the game he gets ran over again.
- 15:05Speaker 2: You gotta quit, You gotta quit. That's a one week one,
- 15:09Speaker 2: twenty twenty one game for him.
- 15:10Speaker 1: We're back from a Mario Crista Ball interview and again
- 15:13Speaker 1: that's coming out tomorrow on Tuesday. Today we got coach
- 15:16Speaker 1: Kaylin de Borg. Greg oldsays we told you joined the show,
- 15:19Speaker 1: and then tomorrow we're gonna be talking some fantasy football
- 15:21Speaker 1: with Field Yates and we also got an interview with
- 15:23Speaker 1: Mario Cristiball, which is a phenomenal listen, so.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Go ahead and check that out when that drops tomorrow.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I'll tell you what will you had your headphones on,
- 15:30Speaker 2: and as you were talking, I was I'm gonna put
- 15:32Speaker 2: my back onto. It's kind of nice, it is.
- 15:33Speaker 3: You kinda hear your voice. You gotta hear the volumes
- 15:36Speaker 3: of everything.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good deal. It's a good, solid deal.
- 15:39Speaker 2: We were before we got that interview going with Crystal
- 15:41Speaker 2: Ball talking about Nebraska, the possibility, the light, the high
- 15:44Speaker 2: likelihood of my Matt Rule going to Penn State. But
- 15:47Speaker 2: for now, Matt Rule is in Lincoln, Nebraska, and that's incredible.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I see a tweet from Will Compton Saturday after the
- 15:53Speaker 2: Nebraska Michigan State game. It was never in question, I
- 15:56Speaker 2: believe was the direct quote, zero doubt, zero doubt.
- 16:00Speaker 3: That was in my video.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I see Will, I see Will at the meet and
- 16:03Speaker 2: greet as I just landed from Vegas, and he goes
- 16:07Speaker 2: got a little dicey there for a little bit. So
- 16:09Speaker 2: what is there your true thoughts about that game Nebraska
- 16:11Speaker 2: and Michigan State.
- 16:13Speaker 3: It was in the video. There was never a doubt
- 16:14Speaker 3: in my mind that we were gonna take that football game.
- 16:16Speaker 1: It was more of acknowledging the fact that all of
- 16:18Speaker 1: Husker Nation and I you know, listen, you've been with
- 16:21Speaker 1: the program now seeing the last decade and everything else.
- 16:23Speaker 1: It had a feeling at in the middle of that
- 16:26Speaker 1: game when Michigan State went up twenty one to fourteen,
- 16:29Speaker 1: because we hung we got fourteen on a quick, we
- 16:32Speaker 1: scored quick, We had a three and out and then
- 16:34Speaker 1: a block punt to take it to the end zone.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Shoutout Coachackler, Happy birthday, birthday to Coachackler.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Happy birthday, coach.
- 16:39Speaker 1: But it seemed like we were just gonna mop this
- 16:41Speaker 1: team out of the stadium. And then it got weird
- 16:44Speaker 1: for a moment. Michigan State goes on the hang twenty
- 16:47Speaker 1: one unanswered. You're sitting there toward the middle of the
- 16:50Speaker 1: third quarter, and I know everybody had that feeling in
- 16:53Speaker 1: their gut of like, oh my god, like is this
- 16:56Speaker 1: is this about to happen? Because that's just the feeling
- 16:58Speaker 1: you get, right, you've been through so many times, through
- 17:01Speaker 1: so many times, so many times where it's like it's
- 17:04Speaker 1: about to happen again. Like this Husker team finds a
- 17:07Speaker 1: way to lose that game and for Rayola, for all
- 17:10Speaker 1: the boys to kind of have that poise, put the
- 17:13Speaker 1: pedal to the medal and score twenty four come back
- 17:15Speaker 1: and score basically twenty four unanswered before Michigan State gets
- 17:19Speaker 1: a garbage touchout at the end of the game. That
- 17:22Speaker 1: feeling was there for a moment, but once they put
- 17:24Speaker 1: the foot on the gas man and went, it's like
- 17:27Speaker 1: that's another the new standard understands how important of a
- 17:31Speaker 1: win that was to find a way to win like that,
- 17:33Speaker 1: because the decade previously that doesn't happen. You end up
- 17:37Speaker 1: losing that game, you end up soling yourself, you end
- 17:40Speaker 1: up crumbling because again Raola throws throws a pick to
- 17:42Speaker 1: where you know he wants that one back, kind of
- 17:44Speaker 1: takes a sack where he says that one's on me.
- 17:46Speaker 1: You kind of waiting to see how this team's gonna respond,
- 17:48Speaker 1: and they responded in a big way. Because again I
- 17:51Speaker 1: felt like that game should have not been close. Obviously
- 17:54Speaker 1: that's my fandom talking, but even watching that game and
- 17:56Speaker 1: understand the Huskers, it's like, ah, they it shouldn't have
- 17:59Speaker 1: been as close as it was. But it was that
- 18:02Speaker 1: feeling that pitt in our stomach was starting to boil
- 18:04Speaker 1: and starting to be there. But then, onyn't you get
- 18:06Speaker 1: the perimeter screen, they muff a kickoff, we get on
- 18:10Speaker 1: it perimeter screen.
- 18:11Speaker 3: To the house.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Well it took all three phases.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that was a big three phase win. That
- 18:16Speaker 1: was a big three phase win. And again it's like
- 18:17Speaker 1: people are you're gonna, you're gonna, You're gonna find out
- 18:20Speaker 1: this week and how good Chiles is and it's like
- 18:23Speaker 1: we've made every talented quarterback look pretty mediocre going against
- 18:26Speaker 1: his past.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Team, Charles Charles's he's very talented for Michigan State. And
- 18:30Speaker 2: I get what you're what the Nebraska fan base is
- 18:33Speaker 2: going through with like every year has kind of been
- 18:34Speaker 2: like final way to lose, and you get to this year,
- 18:37Speaker 2: the year three of Matt Rule, and everyone's like, it's
- 18:39Speaker 2: this is year three Matt Rule. With ten win season,
- 18:41Speaker 2: we're gonna have all these things. But when you get
- 18:43Speaker 2: in these situations, you can't help but go back and
- 18:45Speaker 2: you're telling me, be like, I remember what it feels
- 18:46Speaker 2: like in these games of the past. So it's good
- 18:48Speaker 2: to see Nebraska taking those steps in handling business in
- 18:52Speaker 2: all three phases.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, And then you see what Penn State does
- 18:55Speaker 3: out in U c.
- 18:55Speaker 10: L A.
- 18:55Speaker 2: And it's hock buddy, can't sleep on Maryland though, can't
- 18:59Speaker 2: We will.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Not sleep on Maryland. That's a tough football team. But
- 19:02Speaker 3: you can't tell me that this you're still not looking
- 19:04Speaker 3: at a potential eleven one season. No doubt it's there
- 19:08Speaker 3: for us. Just gotta think advantage of it.
- 19:10Speaker 2: How did Mischian do YEA, I'll answer that I thought
- 19:13Speaker 2: Michigan coming out of the bye way, it seemed a
- 19:14Speaker 2: little sluggish at first against Wisconsin, but overall I was
- 19:18Speaker 2: actually very happy with the result of the game. The
- 19:21Speaker 2: first drive, Wisconsin goes down, We're sending a lot of blitzes,
- 19:25Speaker 2: Martin Dale sending a lot of blitzers. A lot of
- 19:27Speaker 2: the middle of the field is there's a lot of
- 19:29Speaker 2: vacated areas that they're kind of dinking and dunking, and
- 19:32Speaker 2: moved down the field relatively easily and scored. But no,
- 19:36Speaker 2: Wisconsin hadn't put on film that they can throw the
- 19:38Speaker 2: ball very well. So I think Martin Dell's like, we're
- 19:40Speaker 2: just gonna get to the quarterback right away. You see
- 19:42Speaker 2: the in game adjustments that happened, because after that first one,
- 19:45Speaker 2: they really didn't have a lot of success in the
- 19:46Speaker 2: offensive side of the ball. What fired me up a
- 19:48Speaker 2: lot about this game is this kid right here Donovan
- 19:50Speaker 2: McCollen a McCauley this he had like one hundred and
- 19:53Speaker 2: twenty six yards, four or five receptions, Like had a
- 19:56Speaker 2: coming out game. The passing game for Michigan took a
- 19:59Speaker 2: big step, still had multiple drops, which just bums me out, man,
- 20:03Speaker 2: But you know, it's one of those things that you
- 20:05Speaker 2: just gotta you know, you keep firing, don't run away
- 20:07Speaker 2: from the past game because you want these guys to
- 20:09Speaker 2: get as many reps as they possibly can have them
- 20:11Speaker 2: on the jugs. The run game look good like Wisconsin,
- 20:14Speaker 2: you know, as bad as their record is, they're the
- 20:16Speaker 2: number one run defense in all the country, and we
- 20:19Speaker 2: still rush for over one hundred yards. Justice Hayes still
- 20:23Speaker 2: had two touchdowns. He had a forty yard run as well.
- 20:25Speaker 7: I was.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I was very impressed Brice Underwood. I think he took
- 20:28Speaker 2: a next step. He had a couple of great deep
- 20:30Speaker 2: balls put him in the position that owned the wide
- 20:32Speaker 2: receiver could catch it. Our defense showed up in a
- 20:34Speaker 2: big way after that first drive, So I am I
- 20:38Speaker 2: got excited about seeing that. Uh going this is gonna
- 20:42Speaker 2: be a big test coming up with USC.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Yeah, how you feel about going out to USC this weekend?
- 20:46Speaker 1: Coming off of bye week, tough loss against it right away.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Tough loss against the onily coming off of by a week.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Their quarterback playing is playing awesome. They're a wide receiver.
- 20:53Speaker 2: He's gonna be a top ten pick, that Lemon kid.
- 20:55Speaker 2: And then they're they're running backs as well. They have
- 20:57Speaker 2: two running backs that are really good. What I like
- 20:59Speaker 2: is there's a formula out there to beat USC, and
- 21:01Speaker 2: it plays in favor of Michigan. It's running the ball,
- 21:03Speaker 2: controlling the clock and using these shorter intermediate passes when
- 21:07Speaker 2: you don't want to use the run game that Illinois
- 21:09Speaker 2: should it. Brett Beelima showed this is how, this is
- 21:12Speaker 2: how you beat USC. They now here's the issue. You
- 21:15Speaker 2: got to go across the country, which we've shown can
- 21:17Speaker 2: be a lot of issues for people except for Oregon.
- 21:19Speaker 2: We have to go to LA. That game two weeks
- 21:22Speaker 2: ago was announced that it has sold out. I can
- 21:23Speaker 2: only assume that the Mazon Blue is gonna show up
- 21:25Speaker 2: in a big way. So it'll be it'll be, you know,
- 21:29Speaker 2: other than the Oklahoma game. That's gonna be the biggest
- 21:31Speaker 2: test of the year for us to find out who
- 21:32Speaker 2: we really are. And so for USC, like I'm really
- 21:36Speaker 2: looking forward to this game. Right now, Michigan is two
- 21:38Speaker 2: and a half point dogs, and I looked at it yesterday,
- 21:41Speaker 2: the two and a half point Dogs. I'm excited. I
- 21:44Speaker 2: think we have a really strong run game. Our offense
- 21:46Speaker 2: line didn't play well last week. It's gonna be a
- 21:48Speaker 2: vocal point. And after the last two years, when you
- 21:51Speaker 2: see the offense line not play well, they tend to
- 21:53Speaker 2: really step it up the next two weeks after that.
- 21:55Speaker 2: So I'm excited about a good statement win here. Obviously
- 22:00Speaker 2: be taking moneyline Michigan. I'm fired up.
- 22:02Speaker 6: Five.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I just want to see this pass game continue to do.
- 22:06Speaker 6: What it's doing.
- 22:07Speaker 2: See it gets get rid of the drops and that
- 22:09Speaker 2: pass game Buddy got me juiced to the fun.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Do you guys have more drops in the Wisconsin game.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yep. Homage had one, Brettison had one right over
- 22:18Speaker 2: the middle. There's a couple and it was a couple
- 22:20Speaker 2: of like third downs where it's like in the chest.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Now it's not always the receivers like Bryce does rocket balls,
- 22:26Speaker 2: like check out he those hundred miles an hour, and
- 22:28Speaker 2: it's like I get it. They're in the position to
- 22:31Speaker 2: be catchable. But Buddy Worth throwing rockets at our boys.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Every once in a while, you a little touch on it.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I think Joe Klatt said this, like Bryce Underwood is
- 22:39Speaker 2: a great thrower of the football, his next development is
- 22:41Speaker 2: becoming a great passer of the football, understanding his changeups,
- 22:45Speaker 2: knowing when to throw rockets in the tight coverages and
- 22:47Speaker 2: also when to you know, put a little off of
- 22:49Speaker 2: it so it's even more catchable for your guys so
- 22:51Speaker 2: they can get vertical. But buddy, I'm excited.
- 22:55Speaker 3: And now chef on y'all's teams Nebraska and Michigan, chef
- 23:00Speaker 3: wanted to propose this question to you guys if y'all
- 23:03Speaker 3: wanted to read his tweet.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Uh, okay, So this one's from at Jack Underscore, handing
- 23:08Speaker 1: hashtag tier talk true or false.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Texas Tech is good enough to be any team in
- 23:13Speaker 3: the nation.
- 23:14Speaker 5: And that was his follow up question.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Does it look like a follow up question?
- 23:18Speaker 3: Could they beat?
- 23:19Speaker 2: He asked me.
- 23:20Speaker 5: He did, we can verify, well.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Any team in the nation includes Michigan and Nebraska.
- 23:25Speaker 5: That's what he wanted to hear.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Dude, I'll say this about Texas Tech like this, Uh,
- 23:29Speaker 3: this fan base looking at Texas Tech, their schedule, everything else.
- 23:32Speaker 1: The way that they performed. I mean, they're they're beating
- 23:34Speaker 1: teams by at least twenty four points right now. They
- 23:37Speaker 1: are in position to be twelve and zero throughout the
- 23:41Speaker 1: regular season. Now, Like again, whenever Texas Tech plays, people
- 23:48Speaker 1: not give Texas Tech to not because they have the
- 23:50Speaker 1: big twelve conference logo next to them. So it's like
- 23:52Speaker 1: time will tell once they get into the playoff. But
- 23:54Speaker 1: I think you're twelve and zer and you're Texas Tech.
- 23:56Speaker 1: The way that they've been beating these teams, they're not
- 23:58Speaker 1: going to be a team you want to see in
- 23:59Speaker 1: the playoff because that D line it's crazy, goes nuts
- 24:05Speaker 1: bro offensively very good.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Like they went on the road and beat Utah.
- 24:10Speaker 1: At Utah and Houston, both teams play some good football,
- 24:14Speaker 1: and Texas Tech have handled them. So I think right
- 24:17Speaker 1: now it's like, could they beat any team in the country, Sure,
- 24:20Speaker 1: why not?
- 24:20Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 24:21Speaker 3: Why can't they? I think so?
- 24:22Speaker 2: I mean, you saw a couple of weeks ago aginst Utah.
- 24:23Speaker 2: The Texas Texas starting quarterback goes out and they still
- 24:26Speaker 2: won like thirty four to ten or fourteen whatever it
- 24:29Speaker 2: was like. And that's two teams that were both ranked
- 24:31Speaker 2: in the teams. I think it was like sixteen to fifteen,
- 24:34Speaker 2: so they I mean they went away. They handled business there.
- 24:36Speaker 2: It is the Big twelve. And I think if anybody's
- 24:39Speaker 2: going to give Texas Tech or give the Big twelve
- 24:42Speaker 2: a this is a legitimate conference as you have to
- 24:44Speaker 2: worry about, it's going to be Texas Tech. When I
- 24:46Speaker 2: was in Vegas this weekend at UFC, there was a
- 24:49Speaker 2: massive Texas Tech donor that was there that was talking
- 24:52Speaker 2: to me about their club. How they have a board
- 24:55Speaker 2: of people that are analyzing data on players for the
- 24:58Speaker 2: transfer portal. They obviously put I think they spent the
- 25:00Speaker 2: most money this year in the transfer portal. They are
- 25:06Speaker 2: national championship or bust. That is the feelings at Arlington.
- 25:09Speaker 2: That's where Lubb in Lumbic, Texas. It is his national
- 25:13Speaker 2: championship or bust there during as this booster was saying.
- 25:16Speaker 8: During the broadcast with the Houston game, they highlighted this
- 25:19Speaker 8: one of the boosters, Cody Campbell I think.
- 25:21Speaker 5: His name is and like oil, yeah, gotta be.
- 25:25Speaker 6: Like energy something. He was.
- 25:26Speaker 8: He's the guy that the guy that kind of like
- 25:28Speaker 8: spearheaded all and he said that they were saying like
- 25:31Speaker 8: whatever that Booster community is like raised like sixty two
- 25:35Speaker 8: million dollars in one year and like all for NIL stuff.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Like you hear that, Larry Ellison, You hear that, Dave Portnoy.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Let's keep going, boys, all right, let's keep going.
- 25:49Speaker 3: They're all in texat textalls in Texas Tech is all.
- 25:51Speaker 2: In, all in, and right now it's showing jpsow you
- 25:54Speaker 2: pointed me. I've done it. I've done it. A fifty
- 25:55Speaker 2: thousand dollars to the NIL Collective at Michigan.
- 25:58Speaker 3: So did you? What are you talking about?
- 25:59Speaker 2: So did you? So did s? We're active. We're active
- 26:04Speaker 2: with Michigan and IL right now.
- 26:06Speaker 7: Active fifty k it to Texas Tech.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Though, Eddie, listen this dude, you're talking about oil tycoons
- 26:12Speaker 2: over here. I'm a general studies major that happened to
- 26:14Speaker 2: be good at football. There's levels to this ship on
- 26:18Speaker 2: the tables and good on the tables. Okay, my next
- 26:21Speaker 2: Vegas trip, I will donate fifty percent of my winnings
- 26:25Speaker 2: to Michigan and IL. WHOA, that's you're earlier first. And
- 26:31Speaker 2: that is the classic me where I just spontaneously say something,
- 26:35Speaker 2: So now I have to do it because I one
- 26:37Speaker 2: thinking about that at all, and I just randomly said it,
- 26:40Speaker 2: So now I have to do it.
- 26:42Speaker 7: Look of like, are you sure you want to say this?
- 26:43Speaker 2: I know, and then listen. My brain doesn't think. My
- 26:46Speaker 2: brain speaks then thinks this will be clipped out and
- 26:48Speaker 2: this will be next time I go to Vegas. Fifty
- 26:52Speaker 2: percent of my winnings if I win, never guarantee we'll
- 26:56Speaker 2: go to the Michigan Andile Collective. You can just double down, Yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 2: I mean yeah, I have to know. I'll triple down.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I'll do it on Wednesday at the locker room. I'm
- 27:04Speaker 2: gonna do that again. I'll be there in December tax break, Yeah,
- 27:09Speaker 2: gotta be right.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Speaking of Vegas, we have a tier talk here
- 27:13Speaker 1: from Philippe A. J A bunch of numbers hashtag tear talk.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Why does the Taylor just bet on Vandy to win
- 27:19Speaker 1: the SEC Championship for when they do.
- 27:21Speaker 3: He will have the trip already paid because.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I knew this past week would eventually happen. Next question,
- 27:26Speaker 2: So you're saying Vandy's done, they don't have a shot
- 27:28Speaker 2: to win the No, I think they have. They obviously
- 27:30Speaker 2: have a shot, and everything what Alabama told me was
- 27:33Speaker 2: all right, I'm safe. Like they they Alabama might not
- 27:36Speaker 2: be the best team in the country. I think makes
- 27:40Speaker 2: it the playoff. I think they get spicy, buddy, I'm
- 27:42Speaker 2: just listening. I'm talking out of a state of fear
- 27:44Speaker 2: right now. So like everything I'm saying, grant of sal
- 27:46Speaker 2: if you're a Vanderbilt fan, like, just know, I'm afraid
- 27:49Speaker 2: from my wallet. But you know, we saw what happened
- 27:53Speaker 2: this past week. That's awesome.
- 27:54Speaker 8: I think Vandy kind of lost that game with a
- 27:57Speaker 8: pick and a uh fumble in the red zone.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Yeah, the product they put on the field, Yes, they lost.
- 28:03Speaker 2: They lost that game because they didn't play as good
- 28:05Speaker 2: as what you're telling me, right, I mean right.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Nothing fixable.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Yeah, no film to look at it be like a
- 28:12Speaker 1: couple of these plays go your way in the game.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I mean they were up there, I mean they had
- 28:17Speaker 2: one hundred yards rushing in the first half. They're up
- 28:19Speaker 2: fourteen to seven at one point away in Alabama, Like
- 28:22Speaker 2: they could have absolutely won the game. And you're right,
- 28:24Speaker 2: like a pick to fumble here and there, like a
- 28:26Speaker 2: couple of plays go a different way. Absolutely.
- 28:28Speaker 8: Yeah, what I'm saying is like Vandy lost that game.
- 28:31Speaker 8: I feel like more than Alabama.
- 28:32Speaker 2: One oh oh, taken away from the Tide. Yeah, killing
- 28:39Speaker 2: the board, front of the show, front of the show.
- 28:41Speaker 2: It's the same episode that he was just on. He
- 28:43Speaker 2: was Leon here twenty minutes ago.
- 28:44Speaker 6: Yeah, they don't get me wrong. BAM is a great
- 28:47Speaker 6: ball club.
- 28:47Speaker 8: But I think Vandy, like again, hypothetically, if those things
- 28:51Speaker 8: don't happen, right, I think that that game could have
- 28:54Speaker 8: been a lot more spicy than what it was.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Possibly, but a great team also takes advantage of bad football.
- 28:59Speaker 2: You gotta give a lot of it to Alabama because
- 29:01Speaker 2: everybody and their mother said they were, including us on
- 29:03Speaker 2: the show being like, I don't think I think it's
- 29:05Speaker 2: over for them. I think it's done and they've they've
- 29:07Speaker 2: really turned it around.
- 29:08Speaker 6: I'm also saying I think Vandy deserves some.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I absolutely agree. They're five and one.
- 29:14Speaker 7: They could win out and it wouldn't be.
- 29:15Speaker 5: Surprising, wouldn't.
- 29:16Speaker 1: But who somebody took Alabama to cover on this bus?
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah I beat water game. I got a money line
- 29:23Speaker 1: every week?
- 29:26Speaker 2: All right? Oh h Parker, hey key at coach, hey key.
- 29:35Speaker 2: We can all agree Arch is just young and inexperience
- 29:38Speaker 2: a ton of hype and pressure put on him because
- 29:40Speaker 2: of his last name. But the frame is there and
- 29:43Speaker 2: just needs to build it up. Is the frame there,
- 29:45Speaker 2: just needs to build it up. I'm all for horns down,
- 29:48Speaker 2: not to hate.
- 29:49Speaker 3: You want me to read this?
- 29:50Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead, the horns down, not hate. Hate to
- 29:54Speaker 1: see our Wait did you want me to read it?
- 29:56Speaker 1: I'm all for horns down. I'm all for horns down.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I hate to see a young I get ripped because
- 30:01Speaker 1: of expectations your bronze put on him. Maybe he's looking
- 30:04Speaker 1: for your brownie's their hashtag tear talk. Parker Hockey of
- 30:09Speaker 1: the show.
- 30:09Speaker 3: We can't agree.
- 30:10Speaker 2: That was a tough read, right Yeah, yeah, okay, that's
- 30:13Speaker 2: why I had to take over. Yeah, and then you
- 30:15Speaker 2: started doing this. It's like you put the backup quarterback in.
- 30:17Speaker 2: He has the same results.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Sorry, but you sit in the pocket, you kind of
- 30:19Speaker 3: see what they're trying to say, and then you delivered, and.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Then you're like you see from that side. Yeah, you
- 30:22Speaker 2: have the clipboard all right, there you go in there. Oh,
- 30:24Speaker 2: it's the same result right there. Here's what I'll say.
- 30:29Speaker 2: That was a play.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a play called it was a caged animal,
- 30:32Speaker 1: right I am dude? Yeah, look, I think Texas is
- 30:36Speaker 1: just and look I'll hand up. I think on the
- 30:39Speaker 1: locker room preseason, I was talking about both Penn State
- 30:41Speaker 1: and Texas pretty much being in the National Championship game,
- 30:44Speaker 1: and I think we both see that that was an
- 30:46Speaker 1: absolute fail.
- 30:47Speaker 3: I think Texas they let us down. Bro, Yeah, us.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I think Texas is just not who we thought they
- 30:55Speaker 1: were going to be going into the season. You go
- 30:57Speaker 1: in and like Florida exposed a lot of things, is defensively,
- 31:00Speaker 1: which I'm pretty disappointed in the Texas defense. I thought
- 31:04Speaker 1: they would still have a pretty good game. I thought
- 31:06Speaker 1: Florida came out with the game plan and they operated
- 31:08Speaker 1: in a way to where I'm sitting there kind of
- 31:11Speaker 1: kind of yelling at the TV, like how can Florida
- 31:13Speaker 1: not play?
- 31:14Speaker 3: Like this weekend?
- 31:14Speaker 1: Every single day Florida team I've been betting on against LSU,
- 31:19Speaker 1: against who else?
- 31:19Speaker 3: Is they?
- 31:20Speaker 2: Miami?
- 31:20Speaker 3: Miami.
- 31:21Speaker 7: Their fans have to be so pissed, bro.
- 31:24Speaker 3: They gotta be.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Confused more than anything, right, Like they're in an abusive
- 31:26Speaker 2: relationship with billion and IP right now. Yeah, somebody needs
- 31:29Speaker 2: to save them exactly. They're sitting therapy sessions like why
- 31:32Speaker 2: does he keep doing this? Why does he keep doing
- 31:34Speaker 2: like I think he's a bad guy. Then he goes
- 31:36Speaker 2: and buys me this nice jewelry. I think, I think
- 31:37Speaker 2: we're good.
- 31:38Speaker 7: You're happy that.
- 31:39Speaker 2: You won, right, yeah, yeah, I'm happy, But like, why
- 31:41Speaker 2: did you do all the time? What about USF? That
- 31:43Speaker 2: was the past. Don't worry about USF. I agree, Like,
- 31:47Speaker 2: I think I feel bad for arch Manning and I
- 31:50Speaker 2: don't want to like be so critical of him where
- 31:53Speaker 2: it seems like I'm a hater, Like he had all
- 31:55Speaker 2: these expectations. For him to exceed these expectations would have
- 31:59Speaker 2: been near near impossible. He's had a tough season. I
- 32:02Speaker 2: think we need to give him a little bit of
- 32:03Speaker 2: grace right now. I mean, his name, all of that
- 32:07Speaker 2: is just it's it's tough. It's tough season. I agree
- 32:09Speaker 2: with you when it comes to Texas defense, I thought
- 32:11Speaker 2: they were going to stand up a whole lot more
- 32:12Speaker 2: than they than they did against Florida. And when you
- 32:15Speaker 2: look at Florida, it's like, I'm just confused.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just confused.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I think we got a tier talk here from Joshua
- 32:21Speaker 1: Button sarcus two and eight versus top ten teams at Texas,
- 32:24Speaker 1: He's five and eighteen Verse Top ten teams all time?
- 32:27Speaker 1: Is it fair to start the James Franklin comparisons hashtag
- 32:30Speaker 1: tier talk? Thank you, Joshua, I'd say yeah, I'd say
- 32:33Speaker 1: I'd say very much fair. Yeah, because again the X, like,
- 32:37Speaker 1: you go in, you gotta win that game against Florida. Yes,
- 32:40Speaker 1: especially you go you lose fourteen to seven against Ohio State.
- 32:42Speaker 1: You right off three in a row, You're going into
- 32:44Speaker 1: a massive game coming off of bye week.
- 32:46Speaker 3: You gotta take care of Florida in the swamp.
- 32:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:49Speaker 2: And if you're if you're you know, Texas two and three,
- 32:51Speaker 2: but the three sorry, three and two, But the three
- 32:54Speaker 2: wins they have are against teams that you know they
- 32:58Speaker 2: should have easily easily moped. They haven't had to win.
- 33:00Speaker 2: That's like, okay, that's a Texas team that we can
- 33:02Speaker 2: put our hand. Happy hind.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Yes, feel good on the rica. Are there any things
- 33:08Speaker 1: that you feel like we're not giving flush? There's a
- 33:12Speaker 1: lot of football going on in my head right now.
- 33:13Speaker 1: We had a long conversation with Greg Ols on the NFL.
- 33:16Speaker 1: We obviously just watched the NFL on Sunday, so our
- 33:18Speaker 1: brains have kind of been there. Oh man, what where else.
- 33:22Speaker 1: I think it's a massive week. This is a good spot.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Text A and M and that's a ball club, and
- 33:28Speaker 2: it's a ball club is for real?
- 33:31Speaker 3: And M is for real?
- 33:33Speaker 5: Humping eggs.
- 33:35Speaker 3: A and M is for real? Who else is out there?
- 33:38Speaker 7: I don't know if they're for real? Yeah, hold on,
- 33:41Speaker 7: I'm not saying that. I'm not saying they couldn't be.
- 33:44Speaker 7: I'm just why are they for like? Why now are
- 33:47Speaker 7: they for real?
- 33:49Speaker 2: Notre Dame is a big, one, big reason why they
- 33:53Speaker 2: covered a massive spread versus despite allegedly your words. A
- 33:57Speaker 2: good Mississippi State team. Who is it? Overtime with Texas Tennessee. Yeah,
- 34:04Speaker 2: they went to overtime against Tennessee in that high powered offense.
- 34:07Speaker 2: They beat Arizona State, who beat them last year. Was
- 34:09Speaker 2: ranked in the teams like Texas, A and M. That's
- 34:12Speaker 2: a good ball club. They're ranked number five.
- 34:15Speaker 7: I think they're good. I think they're good. I'm just
- 34:18Speaker 7: I'm not ready to say they're one of the best teams.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Yeah, Florida next.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I don't think I'm saying they're for real in a
- 34:24Speaker 1: way that they are. They are a true top ten
- 34:26Speaker 1: They're ranked number five right now, Top five football team.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Like again, when you're looking at who are the legitimate
- 34:32Speaker 1: national title contending champions, you think about Miami, you think
- 34:36Speaker 1: about Ohio State, you think about Oregon. Possibly Texas Tech
- 34:40Speaker 1: should enter that conversation just the way that they've been
- 34:42Speaker 1: winning football games, and you look at the rankings and
- 34:44Speaker 1: you try to remove the whole logo attached to them
- 34:47Speaker 1: A and M though they've they've handled their business.
- 34:49Speaker 7: We're aligned on that, Like, yeah, I would just leave
- 34:51Speaker 7: them out of the they're right below the Miami Oregon.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's fair to that. Yet, Yeah, I
- 34:56Speaker 3: think that's fair.
- 34:57Speaker 2: They're a playoff team that you won't be surprised will
- 34:59Speaker 2: go far.
- 35:00Speaker 6: Are correct?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're okay, So you're looking at just in
- 35:02Speaker 2: the mask of national champions. Yeah, yeah, got you.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Because they're going to have It's like, look, we're gonna
- 35:06Speaker 1: get to find out because you look at their schedule,
- 35:08Speaker 1: they're gonna have uh, they got Florida this week.
- 35:11Speaker 2: You got you have no idea what you're gonna get there? Yeah,
- 35:13Speaker 2: you have no idea.
- 35:14Speaker 1: If Florida plays away that they play like Florida was
- 35:17Speaker 1: supposed to be a team that we're going to be
- 35:18Speaker 1: in it it seems like they kind of hit a
- 35:20Speaker 1: lick as far as executing an operation against Texas this past.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Weekendsy is the major issue in that program.
- 35:26Speaker 1: You're gonna be at Arkansas, which again you beat a
- 35:28Speaker 1: good Florida team. Like let's just say that's a tight game,
- 35:30Speaker 1: and they end up winning, you know, winning in the
- 35:32Speaker 1: fourth quarter.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Arkansas just got their head coach.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Time trap game at Arkansas.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Uh.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Then you go on the road at LSU, you go
- 35:40Speaker 1: on the road to Missouri, you host South Carolina.
- 35:43Speaker 7: Will know very quickly like if they're yeah yeah in Oregon.
- 35:47Speaker 1: I think across college football, like what a weekend slate
- 35:50Speaker 1: we have for college football and just these next several weeks.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Like this is a prime October. It's spooky season for
- 35:58Speaker 2: a lot of schools out there.
- 35:59Speaker 6: Who is the top five?
- 36:01Speaker 8: It's Penn State or Not State, Oregon, Ohio State, Miami, Miami.
- 36:06Speaker 3: You got a and m.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Yeah. No one's really talking about Ole miss which is dangerous.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin making linebackers throw from the sideline.
- 36:15Speaker 7: Lane Kiffin's son is going on a visit to LSU
- 36:18Speaker 7: this weekend. Then Lane Kiffin's dog quote tweeted it and said,
- 36:22Speaker 7: I guess we know who the favorite son in the
- 36:24Speaker 7: family is. Trouble in the Kiffen house.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Just the way Kiffin likes it. Hey, hell of a recap.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Boys, Indiana Orgon this weekend.
- 36:37Speaker 2: I think Orgon's nine and a half point favorites.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Don't seven and a half point.
- 36:43Speaker 7: A lot of good like seven to eight win teams.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Yeah, here would be a massive mistake for Indiana if
- 36:49Speaker 2: it got leaked that Signetti was saying something about Dan.
- 36:54Speaker 3: If it got leaked, we'll see. There's still a week.
- 36:57Speaker 3: We got the week in front of us. We'll see
- 36:59Speaker 3: if there's any fodder there come locker.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Room times and.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Josh And by the way, Josh Pate was right. I
- 37:06Speaker 3: was wrong.
- 37:07Speaker 1: He's smart, I'm dumb, dumb, he's pretty, I'm ugly. Uh,
- 37:10Speaker 1: he was completely right seeing the field for the Florida game.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Yeah he was. And yeah, I know you you more
- 37:18Speaker 2: held that flag on Twitter going at pay all week.
- 37:21Speaker 2: But I was with you. I thought I thought Texas
- 37:23Speaker 2: was gonna stand I mean.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Just winning out right, kind of a ballsy but look
- 37:28Speaker 1: he put his balls on the table and Florida handled
- 37:31Speaker 1: business in a way to where I was kind of
- 37:32Speaker 1: mad watching the game thinking, this motherfucker one thousand percent
- 37:37Speaker 1: knew something that everybody else didn't based on his relationships
- 37:41Speaker 1: in that building of Florida.
- 37:42Speaker 3: You know what I mean, Like, fuck Josh Pate.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Right now, Well's hair starts to grow back a little bit.
- 37:49Speaker 2: All of a sudden, he's away from Josh Pate. He
- 37:52Speaker 2: is below me, all right, boy. Bake hugs, tend kisses

- 40:40Speaker 5: To see you look good before I stepped in here.
- 40:42Speaker 5: Hopefully it still looks.
- 40:43Speaker 3: All right, Yes it does man.
- 40:45Speaker 2: First off, coach happy spooktober. We're rolling right now. So
- 40:48Speaker 2: if there's anything you want to say, off Chemera, we'll
- 40:50Speaker 2: wait till after the show. First Off, congratulations on beating Vandy.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Man.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Let's give another round of applause for that. That's unbelievable. Jack,
- 40:57Speaker 2: Please please clap, thank you. Um, it's gotta be a
- 41:01Speaker 2: very interesting win for you because we're in this new
- 41:04Speaker 2: age of football, like a lot like when I was playing,
- 41:06Speaker 2: even just a couple of years ago, it's like, hey,
- 41:08Speaker 2: don't give anybody bulletin board material, don't give anything for
- 41:11Speaker 2: their team to be like you see what they're saying
- 41:13Speaker 2: about you here. Now we live in this crazy world.
- 41:16Speaker 2: You have to deal with week one with a Castanello.
- 41:18Speaker 2: He's out there being like, I'm gonna do this Alabama,
- 41:20Speaker 2: and then you got Diego Pavia saying the things he says.
- 41:24Speaker 2: It's gotta make this win feel a whole lot better.
- 41:26Speaker 10: Huh yeah, And I mean there's that part, of course,
- 41:30Speaker 10: but we can't control that, you know, and we're in
- 41:34Speaker 10: our own fight here throughout the season, and I'm just
- 41:37Speaker 10: proud of the way the guys just go one week
- 41:38Speaker 10: at a time and just you know, got a chip
- 41:42Speaker 10: on their shoulder with the things that are out there,
- 41:44Speaker 10: but also balancing and channeling the energy into the things
- 41:48Speaker 10: that matter most and helping them be the best.
- 41:50Speaker 5: They can be.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Coach, I gotta ask because I'm just the psyche of
- 41:55Speaker 1: an ex football player. I was in the locker room
- 41:58Speaker 1: last week when I was breaking down the Albam I'm
- 42:00Speaker 1: a Bandy game, and to me, I'm thinking to myself,
- 42:04Speaker 1: they probably didn't celebrate the Georgia game that long, like
- 42:09Speaker 1: that was a game you guys needed to have. But
- 42:11Speaker 1: knowing that you win that game and you got Vandy
- 42:13Speaker 1: the next week at home based on everything that did
- 42:16Speaker 1: it like the loss last year, that probably felt very embarrassing.
- 42:20Speaker 1: You've been seeing Victor last year in and year out,
- 42:22Speaker 1: But the moment of the Georgia win probably didn't last
- 42:24Speaker 1: too long because everybody was just absolutely juice to the
- 42:27Speaker 1: gills because you wanted to play a team like Vanderbilt.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Am I off, AM I off, and assuming that.
- 42:34Speaker 10: No I think I think you're right, and I think
- 42:36Speaker 10: that you know, continues to be the case. I'm proud
- 42:39Speaker 10: of the maturity of our group learning from the experiences
- 42:41Speaker 10: we've been through.
- 42:43Speaker 6: But you're right.
- 42:43Speaker 5: I mean, we were ecstatic and excited winning a.
- 42:47Speaker 10: Big one on the road, but before we locked out
- 42:50Speaker 10: of the locker room, I know some of the guys,
- 42:52Speaker 10: you know, we're already talking about the next one and
- 42:54Speaker 10: how important that was. I'll say this though, that our
- 42:57Speaker 10: guys were saying the same thing just Saturday, you know,
- 43:01Speaker 10: And so I love that mindset and just you know,
- 43:05Speaker 10: it's one game seasons that we're playing right now, just
- 43:09Speaker 10: every week.
- 43:10Speaker 5: It's great competition.
- 43:12Speaker 10: You know, we've getting early, but we haven't played a
- 43:15Speaker 10: team that's had a loss when we've played him yet
- 43:17Speaker 10: this year, and so just it's a tribute to the
- 43:21Speaker 10: teams we're playing obviously again early in the year, but
- 43:24Speaker 10: another great challenge here with Missouri coming up.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you've done a great job of since week one,
- 43:31Speaker 2: just having everybody focused and dialed, and you us seem
- 43:33Speaker 2: like you're crushing one guy who's absolutely killing it too.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Keeps that ball. As Will Kanton would say up here,
- 43:38Speaker 2: Ty Simpson just got he's got that good, he's got
- 43:41Speaker 2: that hey, he keeps it up, he keeps it tight.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Guy sits behind since has been a backup role for
- 43:45Speaker 2: three years, able to come in and he's putting up numbers.
- 43:48Speaker 2: We I think it's like fifteen hundred yards right now.
- 43:50Speaker 2: People are making whispers about a Heisman trophy. Just talk
- 43:53Speaker 2: about Ty Simpson, his development, what you've seen from him,
- 43:56Speaker 2: because it really seems like this guy's taking a major
- 43:59Speaker 2: step to where he's running up draft boards now. People
- 44:01Speaker 2: are excited about him when maybe before the season, when
- 44:04Speaker 2: we were talking about SEC quarterbacks, no one was really
- 44:06Speaker 2: mentioning the Alabama quarterback.
- 44:08Speaker 5: Yeah, understandably, so we hadn't even named him as starter,
- 44:11Speaker 5: you know.
- 44:12Speaker 10: And so I think really there's been just every week
- 44:16Speaker 10: a lot of growth and learning from him that he's
- 44:19Speaker 10: just been he's taken on.
- 44:21Speaker 5: I think our coaches are.
- 44:22Speaker 10: Just continuing to coach him hard and he's great with
- 44:26Speaker 10: it now because he understands that we're doing this because
- 44:29Speaker 10: there's a trust in him. We're asking a lot out
- 44:32Speaker 10: of him and he's capable of it and he knows
- 44:34Speaker 10: that we feel that way. So even this last week,
- 44:37Speaker 10: just you know, he put a lot on his shoulders
- 44:39Speaker 10: and and you know, we certainly know he could have
- 44:44Speaker 10: done a better job of getting the rid of the
- 44:45Speaker 10: ball at times, and you can call that being picky,
- 44:48Speaker 10: but we need great play out of him. We need
- 44:51Speaker 10: him managing the game. But he because he's going to
- 44:53Speaker 10: bring the explosives, whether it's with.
- 44:55Speaker 5: His feet, with his arm.
- 44:56Speaker 10: The big plays that he that separate him from other
- 45:00Speaker 10: quarterbacks are gonna happen just because of him and also
- 45:04Speaker 10: what we do offensively. But he's just got to continue
- 45:06Speaker 10: to do a good job of learning and learning from
- 45:09Speaker 10: the moments that set us back as an offense this
- 45:11Speaker 10: year or this last week. And he's done that every
- 45:14Speaker 10: week and now there's new things that will present themselves
- 45:17Speaker 10: going into Missouri.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Coach, I want to go back to the loss after
- 45:22Speaker 1: Florida State because there is clearly a lot of noise
- 45:26Speaker 1: around the program of Alabama talking about the impossible job,
- 45:30Speaker 1: the impossible succession of Nick Saban. We should have known
- 45:33Speaker 1: this was going to happen. De Bor, you know he's underwater. Guys,
- 45:37Speaker 1: are you see some effort plays out there against Florida State?
- 45:41Speaker 1: Looking back on week one, how did talk about your
- 45:44Speaker 1: staff talk about your players, because whether or not it's
- 45:46Speaker 1: noise and those are external things, it's loud enough around
- 45:49Speaker 1: a program at Alabama and the national landscape to where
- 45:52Speaker 1: no matter what, it is felt from every angle, whether
- 45:55Speaker 1: you want to block it out or not. How did
- 45:57Speaker 1: everybody in the building kind of handle that gut check moment?
- 46:01Speaker 1: Because one of you know, being around a lot of
- 46:03Speaker 1: programs and having a lot of successful programs before you
- 46:05Speaker 1: got to Alabama, a couple of things can kind of
- 46:07Speaker 1: happen there with the team. You either let the noise
- 46:10Speaker 1: kind of sit there, it doesn't really get addressed. Guys,
- 46:13Speaker 1: you know, clickstart form and conversations start happening. You kind
- 46:16Speaker 1: of just go on about your business like you know, hey, guys,
- 46:19Speaker 1: we're just going to stay with each other. Don't worry
- 46:21Speaker 1: about the noise. Or there's also teams that kind of
- 46:23Speaker 1: shut the doors, watch the tape very critically, almost address
- 46:26Speaker 1: everything going on and kind of have that gut check
- 46:28Speaker 1: moment like it seems like you guys had because you
- 46:30Speaker 1: guys have been swinging ever since yeah, you.
- 46:33Speaker 10: Know, all seasons, all off season going back to January.
- 46:37Speaker 10: So much was made about the chemistry of this team,
- 46:40Speaker 10: the character and you know, it wasn't like our guys
- 46:44Speaker 10: were beating their chest about it. I think a lot
- 46:46Speaker 10: of it was just really heartfelt and people recognizing, you know,
- 46:50Speaker 10: what was happening with continuity of staff, continuity of players.
- 46:55Speaker 10: You know, we were proud of staff and talk about
- 46:57Speaker 10: the work ethic of individuals, and then those individuals would
- 47:02Speaker 10: talk about each other, you know, and there came this point,
- 47:05Speaker 10: as you mentioned, where you know, we have week one
- 47:09Speaker 10: and you know, now it's it's we're in the room
- 47:12Speaker 10: and we're talking about, Okay, is this real, Like do
- 47:15Speaker 10: we really care about the other guys that you know
- 47:18Speaker 10: and them counting on me and and us counting on
- 47:21Speaker 10: each other. Is it real that we really, you know,
- 47:24Speaker 10: don't want to let the other guy down? And I
- 47:26Speaker 10: think the answer has been seen that it was. And
- 47:31Speaker 10: you know, we weren't afraid to call it out. We
- 47:33Speaker 10: would call out guys and each other every single day
- 47:36Speaker 10: in practice.
- 47:37Speaker 5: There's been a real accountability.
- 47:39Speaker 10: As much as it looked like it in week one
- 47:42Speaker 10: or feel like it, that has happened and we just
- 47:45Speaker 10: went really back to the basics and kept it simple.
- 47:48Speaker 10: And I think it did create an edge that our
- 47:50Speaker 10: team had that punched them in the face. And and
- 47:54Speaker 10: we've used that a lot as far as you know,
- 47:57Speaker 10: what are you going to do or are you just
- 47:58Speaker 10: gonna take it?
- 47:58Speaker 5: Or are you going to respond and punch back harder.
- 48:02Speaker 10: I'm proud of the way the guys have taken all
- 48:04Speaker 10: that energy and most of it being negative, about ninety
- 48:07Speaker 10: nine point six nine percent of it being negative that
- 48:10Speaker 10: is outside and focusing it into what they could control.
- 48:14Speaker 5: And that's the preparation.
- 48:16Speaker 10: And you know, we have just again a couple of
- 48:18Speaker 10: simple foundational things about how we move and it kind
- 48:21Speaker 10: of relates to urgency.
- 48:23Speaker 5: But it's been really critical for.
- 48:25Speaker 10: Us to keep keep progressing, keep getting better and still
- 48:30Speaker 10: balance again the chip on the shoulder that we've had.
- 48:33Speaker 5: You know, the world of college football and just again
- 48:35Speaker 5: social media.
- 48:36Speaker 10: And everything that's out there, it is a lot of noise.
- 48:39Speaker 10: And we do know we signed up for it here
- 48:42Speaker 10: at Alabama because that comes with being here. And I
- 48:45Speaker 10: reminded the guys of that right away that I signed
- 48:48Speaker 10: up for that, they signed up for that. I recruited
- 48:50Speaker 10: guys here and told them, don't come here if you
- 48:54Speaker 10: can't handle it. And you know, again, these guys, you know,
- 48:57Speaker 10: I'm proud of the response that we've had here, you know,
- 49:00Speaker 10: going on the last.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Four weeks something.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Sorry, Taylor, I just want to I want to, And
- 49:04Speaker 1: I know we're in the middle of the season. You
- 49:05Speaker 1: guys have a gone little of a schedule. You can't
- 49:07Speaker 1: sleep on any team. You can't take a breath, you
- 49:09Speaker 1: can't take a break. You guys are going into Missoo
- 49:11Speaker 1: this next weekend, who's a very tough football team. But
- 49:13Speaker 1: the things that you're speaking to, like a moment that
- 49:15Speaker 1: stands out to me, like as I'm watching you guys,
- 49:17Speaker 1: it was in the Georgia game where I want to say,
- 49:20Speaker 1: one of your defenders, whether it was a double move
- 49:21Speaker 1: or something, he got beat, they scored touchdown and essentially
- 49:25Speaker 1: the staff like you, I'm assuming it was the defensive coordinator,
- 49:28Speaker 1: but you guys are coming on the field saying that's
- 49:31Speaker 1: on us, that's our call. But tapping you're just as
- 49:35Speaker 1: a former player, like as somebody who's played the game,
- 49:37Speaker 1: like knowing you you're in a very hostile environment, you're
- 49:40Speaker 1: on the road at a place like Georgia and just
- 49:43Speaker 1: seeing you guys kind of come off the sideline and
- 49:45Speaker 1: that kind of rally moment happening. I know, just as
- 49:48Speaker 1: a player, it was really exciting to see to where
- 49:50Speaker 1: I'm sitting there, I'm like, oh, these guys are these
- 49:52Speaker 1: guys are checked in. These guys are like lock the
- 49:54Speaker 1: fuck in. They know shit's gonna hit the fan. When
- 49:56Speaker 1: it does hit the fan, there's gonna be zero loss
- 49:58Speaker 1: of focus. There's not gonna be fingerporns, like, hey, let's
- 50:01Speaker 1: get to the sideline, let's regroup.
- 50:02Speaker 3: So that's hats off to you guys. Again.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I know we're in the middle of the season. It's
- 50:05Speaker 1: not like you guys have won the Nattyet or anything.
- 50:07Speaker 1: But as a player, I very much I have a
- 50:10Speaker 1: lot of respect for a coaching staff like that.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, just to piggyback off everything will said,
- 50:15Speaker 2: Like that first game, there was a lot of noise
- 50:17Speaker 2: right like, and you're talking about the players. There's a
- 50:19Speaker 2: lot of conversations like what are the players doing the
- 50:21Speaker 2: night before the game? A lot of people are whispers
- 50:23Speaker 2: about all these things. I want to know where your
- 50:26Speaker 2: head was at in like just personally, whether with the
- 50:29Speaker 2: family talking like you obviously have to go and stand
- 50:31Speaker 2: in front of the team the next day and deliver
- 50:34Speaker 2: a message to them. That allows it to resonate so
- 50:36Speaker 2: they can be like, Okay, we do have each other's back,
- 50:38Speaker 2: but you got some lady in Alabama and the lottery,
- 50:42Speaker 2: the Powerball lotteries at one point four billion, Like, hey,
- 50:44Speaker 2: what would you do if you want the power ball?
- 50:45Speaker 2: That The first thing I'd do is I buy out
- 50:47Speaker 2: Kaitlin to bore and I make sure we get a
- 50:49Speaker 2: new head coach. And they're like, the noise is crazy
- 50:51Speaker 2: for you individually? How do you handle that pressure just
- 50:55Speaker 2: without worrying about the team, but like, how do you
- 50:57Speaker 2: like compartmentalize and handle all that?
- 50:59Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 51:00Speaker 10: Well, I think first of all, going back to what
- 51:01Speaker 10: you said right away, you know, the noise that's real
- 51:04Speaker 10: and and like we get it, like you make your
- 51:09Speaker 10: own bed, right, I mean, we didn't play well and uh,
- 51:12Speaker 10: but I think the noise that people just want to
- 51:14Speaker 10: make things up and aren't real, you know, about what's
- 51:16Speaker 10: going on the night before that are completely false and factual.
- 51:20Speaker 10: You know, those are the things that just add to
- 51:21Speaker 10: the chip on their shoulder that that I've held on to.
- 51:24Speaker 10: I know our team's held on to, you know, and
- 51:26Speaker 10: not who we are. You know, it's not the character
- 51:28Speaker 10: of us. I mean, these guys are all in and
- 51:30Speaker 10: are doing the right things, and so that's what I
- 51:34Speaker 10: reminded them of. And you know, again, we can't control
- 51:38Speaker 10: what everyone else wants to run with, whatever storyline or
- 51:40Speaker 10: how they feel. And and you know that they've again
- 51:45Speaker 10: we've just kept enough of it.
- 51:47Speaker 5: Alive because we don't want we want don't.
- 51:51Speaker 10: Want to take away the focus from what's really important.
- 51:53Speaker 10: That's our preparation when we step on the football field
- 51:56Speaker 10: tomorrow at practice, and you know that's what really matters.
- 52:01Speaker 10: And so you know, I just my message to the guys,
- 52:04Speaker 10: you know, wasn't one of an edge, you know, but
- 52:09Speaker 10: also one that said, you.
- 52:10Speaker 5: Know, we we did some things that.
- 52:12Speaker 10: You know, kind of made our own bet, and we
- 52:15Speaker 10: got to we gotta respond and we got to be better,
- 52:17Speaker 10: and we know we can be better, and we can
- 52:19Speaker 10: control that.
- 52:19Speaker 5: That's the fortunate thing. So do you believe in.
- 52:22Speaker 6: What we got?
- 52:22Speaker 10: Do you believe in the talent? Do you believe in
- 52:24Speaker 10: the staff? And the staff believe in the players. And
- 52:27Speaker 10: I think the response has been you know that we do.
- 52:30Speaker 10: And I love coaching these guys, I really do. And
- 52:35Speaker 10: there's an excitement about going to battle with these guys,
- 52:38Speaker 10: and you know, we've proving it to.
- 52:40Speaker 5: Us, and that's what it starts with. But I also
- 52:42Speaker 5: know that there's an edge where we're proving it to
- 52:44Speaker 5: everyone else too.
- 52:45Speaker 3: How do you keep that edge?
- 52:46Speaker 1: How do you keep that focus going going to prepare
- 52:48Speaker 1: for a week against a team like the Missouri Tigers.
- 52:50Speaker 1: You have two very very emotional wins back to back
- 52:55Speaker 1: with Georgia and then have it hosting Vandy at home.
- 52:58Speaker 1: How do you stay locked in and can continue to
- 53:00Speaker 1: keep that chip on the shoulder where it's like, you know,
- 53:03Speaker 1: the urgency, You feel like the prep and urgency is
- 53:06Speaker 1: going to be there, But how do you just stay
- 53:07Speaker 1: on top of the boys because again, you guys got
- 53:10Speaker 1: to go to Missouri and it doesn't get easier throughout
- 53:12Speaker 1: the rest of the year.
- 53:13Speaker 10: Yeah, they are really good and they are dominating on
- 53:18Speaker 10: the run game, both sides of the ball, the time
- 53:21Speaker 10: of possession.
- 53:22Speaker 5: If we're not careful, you ain't gonna have the ball
- 53:23Speaker 5: at all. And so I think, how do you keep
- 53:27Speaker 5: the edge?
- 53:27Speaker 10: I looked at the film, and we looked at the
- 53:29Speaker 10: film as a staff, and there were some mistakes and
- 53:32Speaker 10: things that we did early in the game, in particular,
- 53:37Speaker 10: as a team that just can't happen. And again it's
- 53:42Speaker 10: set in the direction early on. I thank goodness we've
- 53:45Speaker 10: been through the fight a little bit and you know,
- 53:49Speaker 10: we didn't flinch. I think like people probably have expected
- 53:52Speaker 10: us to the last few weeks, we didn't flinch when
- 53:55Speaker 10: you got in that moment. But we got a lot
- 53:58Speaker 10: of just things that we got to lean up and
- 54:01Speaker 10: be better. And it's exciting too because it shows that
- 54:04Speaker 10: there's a higher ceiling for our team. But we got
- 54:07Speaker 10: to go make it happen because you know, we keep
- 54:10Speaker 10: making those mistakes, we're gonna have one of these teams
- 54:13Speaker 10: going on the road at a Missouri or whatever it
- 54:16Speaker 10: might be, that are going to get you. And so
- 54:18Speaker 10: we just again got to execute better. That's really what
- 54:21Speaker 10: it was. I can't say our guys weren't in the fight.
- 54:24Speaker 10: I think they came off to the sideline and wanted
- 54:26Speaker 10: to solve problems and be solution oriented. They want to
- 54:30Speaker 10: be coached. But we just didn't execute a couple of things.
- 54:33Speaker 10: And it's it's really not a schematic thing. It's not
- 54:35Speaker 10: a team that it's just like literally one guy just
- 54:37Speaker 10: got to do his job better. And you know, some
- 54:40Speaker 10: of the things that we went through could have been avoided.
- 54:43Speaker 10: We got to finish, you know, at certain times. But
- 54:46Speaker 10: I'm proud of how we finished the game, you know,
- 54:49Speaker 10: the second half in particular, stuff in the run. Defensively
- 54:53Speaker 10: and offensively. We scored every possession. We just got to
- 54:55Speaker 10: turn some of those drives into touchdowns and not settle
- 54:58Speaker 10: our field goals.
- 54:59Speaker 2: You guys a great I mean, you didn't flinch at all. Right,
- 55:02Speaker 2: you go down seven zero and then it's fourteen seven
- 55:03Speaker 2: at one point. I think Vanby had like one hundred
- 55:05Speaker 2: yards of rushing in the first half. A lot of
- 55:07Speaker 2: it came in the first quarter, and it seemed like
- 55:08Speaker 2: you guys didn't flinch at all, which is awesome. You
- 55:12Speaker 2: talked about Missouri a little bit owning the time of possession.
- 55:14Speaker 2: If you don't, if you're not carefully, you're not going
- 55:16Speaker 2: to get the ball at all. What what's the biggest
- 55:18Speaker 2: takeaway when you watched a film with the Missouri Tigers that, oh,
- 55:20Speaker 2: we got to watch out for this. I know they
- 55:21Speaker 2: have a hell of a rusher. Something about Penn State
- 55:24Speaker 2: backups going to other places and having a dominant successful
- 55:27Speaker 2: careers and Priblo he's playing really well. One of the
- 55:29Speaker 2: things you're seeing from their offensive side that's like, okay, well,
- 55:32Speaker 2: this is what we have to worry about a little bit.
- 55:34Speaker 10: They have such a complimentary of skill and their running backs.
- 55:39Speaker 10: You know heardy and he has a mistackle statistically is
- 55:44Speaker 10: a misstackle, and it shows up on film every other carry,
- 55:47Speaker 10: you know, And I mean he just keeps plays alive
- 55:50Speaker 10: and people think they got him down and he's still running,
- 55:53Speaker 10: and the yards after contact just you know, blow your mind.
- 55:56Speaker 10: And so we got a rally. We got to be there.
- 56:00Speaker 10: Scheme schemes they run and the things they run off
- 56:02Speaker 10: the play, the playoff the plays. You know, Coach Drinkuitz
- 56:06Speaker 10: and Kirby Moore you can see their fingers all over
- 56:09Speaker 10: it and know those too well over the years. Kirby
- 56:13Speaker 10: was with me, Coach Moore was with me for you know,
- 56:15Speaker 10: four years together at Fresno State, and so you can
- 56:18Speaker 10: you can see that meshing their the philosophies together. They're
- 56:22Speaker 10: extremely efficient, you know, seventy six percent completion percentage. It's
- 56:27Speaker 10: just it's impressive what they're doing. You can see what
- 56:30Speaker 10: their philosophy is and then defensively they compliment it and
- 56:33Speaker 10: they get the ball back form and then they just
- 56:35Speaker 10: go do it again. And so they're really they're in
- 56:38Speaker 10: it for the long haul. You know, you don't see
- 56:40Speaker 10: them having to feel like they got to go score
- 56:44Speaker 10: you know, twenty five points in the first quarter. They're
- 56:46Speaker 10: willing to, you know, just grind, grind you out, you know,
- 56:50Speaker 10: and you know they're going to take their shots when
- 56:54Speaker 10: they want to, and you know, throw a trick play
- 56:56Speaker 10: or specials play action down the field.
- 56:58Speaker 5: But uh, you know they're gonna of playing for the
- 57:00Speaker 5: fourth quarters.
- 57:01Speaker 10: And they won a lot of close games over the
- 57:03Speaker 10: last few years, you know, with that type of philosophy,
- 57:06Speaker 10: and every team looks a little different, but they got
- 57:08Speaker 10: a lot of pieces that are coming together right now.
- 57:11Speaker 10: When you take their their skill mixed in with an
- 57:13Speaker 10: offensive line that fits what they do.
- 57:15Speaker 3: You know that you know the type of week is
- 57:17Speaker 3: going to be for the players. Like towards the end
- 57:18Speaker 3: of the week at.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Alabama, it's gonna be like, man, why is the staff
- 57:23Speaker 1: kind of why do they feeling like we kind of
- 57:24Speaker 1: lost these last Yeah, like you know what I mean
- 57:26Speaker 1: to kind of keep that coach on the shoulder, Yeah,
- 57:29Speaker 1: like they know, like, hey, if we played a level
- 57:32Speaker 1: of game we can beat.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Yeah, why are we fucking what are they acting like?
- 57:36Speaker 2: We lost the tails?
- 57:37Speaker 3: Yeah, that's gonna be like the urgency that the players
- 57:39Speaker 3: are kind of feeling at the end of the week.
- 57:41Speaker 1: I can taste it, coach, Big Spootober family, You got
- 57:46Speaker 1: you guys. You guys love to celebrate Halloween, the family decorating.
- 57:50Speaker 1: We got some costumes in the way waiting in the wings.
- 57:53Speaker 1: What do we got going on for the month of Spooptober.
- 57:55Speaker 5: Yeah, my wife, it does a pretty good job.
- 57:58Speaker 10: I guess I would say, uh, I don't get him
- 58:01Speaker 10: busy in football, right, But I will say my wife
- 58:03Speaker 10: does a pretty good job with all holidays making it
- 58:06Speaker 10: feel a certain way. And so she already got the
- 58:08Speaker 10: September and October or the October themed things you know,
- 58:12Speaker 10: about a week ago, so she's ahead of the game
- 58:14Speaker 10: like usual.
- 58:15Speaker 3: Do you have a Do you have a favorite scary movie?
- 58:21Speaker 5: I can't think of what I mean. I like the
- 58:24Speaker 5: dramas and the scary ones. But yeah, but I can't
- 58:28Speaker 5: say I got a favorite.
- 58:29Speaker 3: He's just thinking of games he's lost.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Yeah that's scary movie. Yeah, those are the scary movies. Gee,
- 58:37Speaker 2: before we coached broad here. Do you have any questions
- 58:40Speaker 2: for him? He's our resident Alabama fan, Garrett.
- 58:43Speaker 3: I do coach roll Tide.
- 58:45Speaker 7: Quick question. Now that the black hoodie has created some
- 58:48Speaker 7: sort of lore, I just got to know, is it
- 58:49Speaker 7: the same hoodie every week? And are you washing it
- 58:52Speaker 7: in between games?
- 58:54Speaker 2: Great question.
- 58:55Speaker 10: It's funny how something you've done for so long, all
- 58:58Speaker 10: of a sudden it becomes a thing now And I'm good,
- 59:00Speaker 10: well whatever. I mean, that's what I've been comfortable with
- 59:02Speaker 10: in for years and you know, so they're just making
- 59:06Speaker 10: it even more comfortable.
- 59:07Speaker 5: But yeah, it does get washed.
- 59:11Speaker 10: I promise you that there's been a couple of hot
- 59:14Speaker 10: games the last couple of weeks, and you know, but yeah,
- 59:19Speaker 10: it's it's funny that it's taken a little bit of
- 59:21Speaker 10: a life there, and you know, just trying to keep
- 59:25Speaker 10: the guys and my family, my daughters, they see it all,
- 59:29Speaker 10: you know, and they are even kind of putting the
- 59:30Speaker 10: pressure on me, like, Coach, you can't let us down,
- 59:33Speaker 10: you know. So, yeah, I didn't mean for it to
- 59:36Speaker 10: be that way. It was just kind of what I
- 59:38Speaker 10: was comfortable with in over the years. But it's it's
- 59:41Speaker 10: kind of taken a life of its own crazy.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Enough coach man, thank you for your time, bro, good
- 59:46Speaker 1: luck it gets missoo this week. Seriously, hats off to
- 59:48Speaker 1: you over these last few weeks. It's been fun to
- 59:50Speaker 1: watch you guys kind of climb out of that. It's
- 59:52Speaker 1: felt like black hole that was around you guys after
- 59:55Speaker 1: that Florida State game. But very much appreciate your time, man.
- 59:58Speaker 5: Yeah, you bet.
- 59:59Speaker 10: Appreciate what you guys do for just all sports, college football.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: The excitement you continue to build.
- 1:00:05Speaker 10: It takes a there's a lot of growth that's happening
- 1:00:08Speaker 10: in our sport and excitement for it. The craziness that
- 1:00:11Speaker 10: revolves around building your team and all that. That's one thing,
- 1:00:14Speaker 10: but uh, the sport continues to grow. So appreciate all
- 1:00:17Speaker 10: you guys do.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: He hit you, coach, coach bar friend of the show,
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Friend of the show.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Hit the group chat, tell them, tell them you're ten
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: still alive. Tell you boys, your ten still alive.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: Your ten.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: Still appreciate you, coach. We'll talk to you soon.
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: You bet.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: Thank you?
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Ay what a guy?
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Yeah that was fun that.
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: I don't think an I don't know if you hear me.
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: Thanks guys, Oh yeah.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: You bet? Yeah, you guys are you guys? Are you
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: know again?
- 1:00:43Speaker 10: Like what I just said is it's cool seeing what
- 1:00:45Speaker 10: you guys do. You bring good energy to everything, So
- 1:00:47Speaker 10: thanks for it.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Thank you. I appreciate you just taking the time of
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: the day too. Obviously it's a big win and a
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: couple of schmucks like us, it's awesome that you took
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: the time.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: Man.
- 1:00:55Speaker 10: I just was in the defensive room, walked straight out
- 1:00:58Speaker 10: of there and all the things you were just talking
- 1:01:00Speaker 10: about that I was able to explain pretty quickly because
- 1:01:02Speaker 10: that was a demoralizing watching the highlight film of that
- 1:01:06Speaker 10: retail back make all the plays he's made this year.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: He's impressive, dude, he is very impressive.
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: He is.
- 1:01:11Speaker 9: Man.
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: Yeah, they got the other guy too, the compliments.
- 1:01:13Speaker 10: He got seven point three one, seven point one one,
- 1:01:16Speaker 10: seven point three yards per carry.
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: So it ain't just one guy. They can match you
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: with the second one too.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: So yeah, Inten's got to be going into going into Columbia.
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: Yeah eleven o'pot kickoff, We got it?
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: Yeah bro, Yeah all right, coach, Yeah, man, doing good.
- 1:01:31Speaker 9: Last week, I was I had a travel nightmare from
- 1:01:33Speaker 9: hell getting home from Dublin.
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: That's why I couldn't jump on with you guys.
- 1:01:36Speaker 9: I spent literally twenty four hours traveling, spent like eight
- 1:01:41Speaker 9: hours in Heathrow in London, lost our bags, missed our connection.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: It was a nightmare.
- 1:01:46Speaker 9: Oh Jesus, I left and so I left Dublin. Local
- 1:01:52Speaker 9: Dublin time is like is five hours ahead of East Coast,
- 1:01:55Speaker 9: so we left. It was overtime of the Packers Dallas game,
- 1:02:00Speaker 9: so it was like eleven thirty Eastern, four thirty am
- 1:02:03Speaker 9: in Dublin. We were in the car going to the airport.
- 1:02:06Speaker 9: I walked in my house with two minutes to go
- 1:02:09Speaker 9: in the fourth quarter of Monday night football.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Monday night football.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: That is brutal.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: It was brutal, but uh, Dublin was cool though. Dublin
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: was fun.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I bet, But that travel Schales was crazy. How
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: do you how do you reset for your for practices
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: that week?
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: Coming you know what?
- 1:02:29Speaker 9: Coming east? I always do pretty well. Or no, I'm sorry,
- 1:02:35Speaker 9: coming west, I always do pretty well. Going east is
- 1:02:38Speaker 9: when it got Being in Dublin. We were more like
- 1:02:41Speaker 9: jet lagged and time was off coming back west. Coming
- 1:02:45Speaker 9: home was fine was not that big of a deal.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: Did you ever did you ever play across the Pond?
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:02:54Speaker 9: Twenty nineteen. So my last year in Carolina, we played
- 1:02:57Speaker 9: in London. We played the Bucks.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: It was all.
- 1:03:00Speaker 9: I loved it. I thought it was super cool. I
- 1:03:04Speaker 9: thought the crowd was great. I think the fans internationally
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: loved the games. It was a cool experience. I had
- 1:03:09Speaker 9: never been, so I've been out to Europe two times
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: to play in a game in London and to call
- 1:03:13Speaker 9: a game in Doublin.
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: That's it.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: Did your team go? Did you guys go for the week.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Or did you go for that Thursday?
- 1:03:19Speaker 9: Now we started doing it like you know those teams. Well,
- 1:03:22Speaker 9: I guess everyone's still kind of doing a little different.
- 1:03:24Speaker 9: But we uh went like Thursday. We either went like
- 1:03:29Speaker 9: Wednesday night or Thursday.
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: And I remember Thursday, Thursday, after practice, Yeah we went.
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: We had like a practice and then we flew through
- 1:03:36Speaker 9: the night and we either landed there like Friday morning
- 1:03:39Speaker 9: early or Thursday morning early.
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: I don't remember which one, but yeah, yeah, it was.
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: It was.
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: It was good.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: I can't I can't believe he enjoyed it. I hated it.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I wasn't a Why didn't you like it?
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I just you're like when you get done with practice
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: and then you go and hit the jet and then
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: you're thinking like all right, guy, you know you're trying
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: to figure out that's your night of sleep. And then
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: you land and it's Friday morning. You jump right in
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: the meetings, you jump right in the there's a massive
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: nap that ends up happening. But they tried to tell
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: you not sleep too long. It was just then the
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: field was kind of slippery like that. The turf that
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: they had was a little bit I felt like a
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: little bit different.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: The practice field that we were on, because I think
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: it was it was eighteen, Yeah, the year you were there.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Eighteen We went to play the Chargers in London. We
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: did the same thing. Left Thursday, landed Friday morning, did
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: a practice. You go practice playing practice. And the practice
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: field in London was it was like in front of
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: like this like pseudo castle and there was like divots
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: all everywhere and he kind of just like doing a
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: job too. But you're like in hell from a sleepy
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: boy standpoint, and do not go to sleep until seven
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: thirty and it's just I remember looking at the clock,
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: it was like seven twenty eight and it was the
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: longest two minutes of my life because I was like
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: I got to check the box of seven thirty before
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: go to sleep. Then all the boys like the next day, like, yeah,
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: we went out, we went to the pub. I'm thinking,
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: how the fuck do you guys do that?
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, that's what got me got those days way over.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: I know, I thought, I thought, Tottenham Stadium? Where'd you got?
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: We played at Tottenham?
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Did you play ship one of them? London played in London?
- 1:05:04Speaker 9: Man, Well, I think there's Wimbley right, Yeah, yeah, that
- 1:05:08Speaker 9: was it.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Yeah, we played it.
- 1:05:09Speaker 9: We were at Tottenham, which was like the brand new
- 1:05:11Speaker 9: stadium that they had just built. I don't know, it
- 1:05:15Speaker 9: was like I think it was within like a year
- 1:05:17Speaker 9: or two of us playing there, so it was brand new.
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: It was nice. I don't know.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: I thought.
- 1:05:20Speaker 9: I thought it was a cool experience. I had never
- 1:05:22Speaker 9: been overseas before, so maybe that was part of it.
- 1:05:24Speaker 9: But uh yeah, the sleep is the hardest part. The
- 1:05:27Speaker 9: jet lag is the worst part.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we tied, so you're you're flying back
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: he kind of that's why.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, and my team lost, so I guess we
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: all we fall felt every single different.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: From winning winning cures winning, No doubt for us though,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: for us, that was like our kicker missed the field
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: goal to win, So you kind of felt like we
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: kind of felt.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Like we want We felt really shitty for Dustin Hoppins.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: You felt like them on the bag.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: It's all good man, we did our job, but it's
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: all good.
- 1:05:55Speaker 9: But you mean it, that's the question. And you put
- 1:05:57Speaker 9: your arm around him. Did you mean it is the real.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: You're that's where you hope. With cameras around, you're like, oh, man,
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: will compfidence? Really he's got his boys back.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm thinking I had to pick to tackle.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: You get to pick.
- 1:06:09Speaker 9: Yeah, if only everybody else was committed as great?
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Can I ask you a question? Speak of being across
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: the pond. If you're a head coach of a football
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: team and you get there, you fly across the pond,
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: you get the guys ready, and then somebody is late
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: to a team meeting because they wanted to sight see,
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: would you suspend them for the first quarter of that game?
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Jordan Addison, Kevin O'Connell. That's the situation
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: that happened last weekend.
- 1:06:38Speaker 9: Very very I don't care if we're in Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas,
- 1:06:43Speaker 9: or Dublin. I don't care where we are. Meetings start
- 1:06:48Speaker 9: when they start, Responsibilities start when they start.
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: Like this is pro ball man, Like.
- 1:06:53Speaker 9: This is this is not high school, and this is
- 1:06:56Speaker 9: not you know your mom didn't drop you off in time,
- 1:06:58Speaker 9: and you left your helmet at home, and you know
- 1:07:00Speaker 9: college even like we all were stupid, and you know
- 1:07:04Speaker 9: you sleep through a workout at six am because you're alarmed,
- 1:07:06Speaker 9: Like we've all had those moments. But like pro ball man,
- 1:07:09Speaker 9: there's just no excuses for any of that. Like in
- 1:07:13Speaker 9: my mind, I always thought, like the guys that relate,
- 1:07:16Speaker 9: the guys that miss stuff, I just always took it
- 1:07:19Speaker 9: as disrespect for everybody else around you time, Like if
- 1:07:22Speaker 9: it's okay for me to be on time, why is
- 1:07:24Speaker 9: it not okay for you to be on time.
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: I'm just as tired, I'm just as busy.
- 1:07:28Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: That's how I always viewed it.
- 1:07:30Speaker 9: So yeah, I would have at the pro level, I
- 1:07:32Speaker 9: would have zero tolerance for like guys missing, guys showing
- 1:07:37Speaker 9: up late. Now when I mention him the whole game, no,
- 1:07:42Speaker 9: I think what they did that game?
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: You need the game winning touchdown, got to have the
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: game on.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: I mean, we're not heroes, we're not heroes.
- 1:07:50Speaker 9: He're like, you gotta say, uh, Mario Cristobal, the coach
- 1:07:56Speaker 9: down in Miami. He told me something that I've never forgot.
- 1:07:59Speaker 9: He said he learned this from Nick Saban. He said
- 1:08:01Speaker 9: Nick Saban had had a saying. He said, when the
- 1:08:04Speaker 9: tiger enters the temple, make him part of the ceremony.
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: And like the.
- 1:08:08Speaker 9: Idea being like, you're gonna have stuff that goes bad.
- 1:08:11Speaker 9: You're gonna have a guy that's late to pregame, he's
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: gonna miss the bus, he's gonna There needs to be
- 1:08:16Speaker 9: discipline in the moment, but it can't become a distraction
- 1:08:19Speaker 9: to the entire locker room. The guy's now walking storming
- 1:08:23Speaker 9: out of the locker room, and he's not playing, and
- 1:08:24Speaker 9: now all of a sudden, the game plan is thrown
- 1:08:26Speaker 9: away and we might lose the game over it. Like,
- 1:08:29Speaker 9: there's a time to discipline them, there's a way to
- 1:08:31Speaker 9: discipline them, but don't take it so far that it
- 1:08:34Speaker 9: gets in the way of everybody else's ability to go
- 1:08:36Speaker 9: out and compete and win the game. I always think
- 1:08:39Speaker 9: that's a very good thing to keep in mind. Like
- 1:08:43Speaker 9: Satin for the quarter made the point to the rest
- 1:08:46Speaker 9: of the team that nobody's above the rules, and now
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: get your asspeck in there and go win the game.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I'm sure that locker room was like you
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: learn your lesson. Good, great catch at the end. That
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: was phenomenal.
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: I love that is everyone is everyone good?
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: Yeah, we're good. Hey, that was all. We're actually to
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: take away that fine now because you've got that game
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: whening touchdown about exactly when you're when you're coaching your
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: games and some of these kids show up late, do
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: you go to the parent and give them a talking to,
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: maybe give them hit them with a fine or something
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: like that.
- 1:09:14Speaker 9: So that's where it's a little bit different because right now,
- 1:09:18Speaker 9: at our age, kids are one hundred percent dependent on
- 1:09:21Speaker 9: their parents, right like, the parents take them to and
- 1:09:24Speaker 9: from practice, the parents schedule dentist appointments, the schedule the parents.
- 1:09:29Speaker 9: It's the kids not scheduling an orthodontis appointment on a
- 1:09:32Speaker 9: Tuesday at four o'clock, right like, it's not the kid's fault.
- 1:09:35Speaker 9: So we try our best to communicate all the scheduling
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: and all the you know, expectations, both to the kids
- 1:09:42Speaker 9: of course because they got to learn it, but also
- 1:09:44Speaker 9: equally is important to the parents because little Johnny wants
- 1:09:49Speaker 9: to be at practice on time at a you know,
- 1:09:51Speaker 9: a summer workout at eight thirty am on a Wednesday.
- 1:09:54Speaker 9: But like mom and dad have work and it's summer.
- 1:09:57Speaker 9: So like I am a little bit more understanding of
- 1:10:01Speaker 9: the young kids of what's going on. And they have siblings,
- 1:10:04Speaker 9: they have parents, they have jobs. Like there's a lot
- 1:10:07Speaker 9: more going on for these kids than just sports, Unlike
- 1:10:09Speaker 9: you know the professionals who as is all they do.
- 1:10:11Speaker 9: So I'm a little bit more understanding of the kids.
- 1:10:13Speaker 9: We have a little bit more grace and leniency, But
- 1:10:17Speaker 9: I do tell the kids all the time, like, don't
- 1:10:19Speaker 9: take advantage now, Like every once in a while, Okay,
- 1:10:23Speaker 9: circumstances come up. We're gonna take everything on a case
- 1:10:26Speaker 9: by case basis. But if it's if it's just continuous
- 1:10:29Speaker 9: and it's the same repeat offenders over and over again,
- 1:10:32Speaker 9: we're gonna have accountability. We're gonna have standards that apply
- 1:10:35Speaker 9: to everybody on the team, from the top player to
- 1:10:38Speaker 9: the bottom of the roster.
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: Everyone's the same.
- 1:10:40Speaker 9: But it is just a little bit of a different
- 1:10:42Speaker 9: dynamic because of how dependent they are on their family,
- 1:10:45Speaker 9: you know, on their family dynamics and their parents.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: And whatnot, no doubt, no doubt. But if they're like
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: three times, four times, five times, do we maybe grab
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: the dad in the corner and be like, what's what's
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: your deal? We have a conversation with him. Hey, man, listen,
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: have you had a dicey situation with a parent?
- 1:11:03Speaker 9: To be honest with you, We've been doing this now
- 1:11:06Speaker 9: at the school for two years, and I have to
- 1:11:08Speaker 9: say we have parents that really have bought in to
- 1:11:11Speaker 9: what we ask. And we are the first to admit
- 1:11:14Speaker 9: that what we do is not for everyone, and we
- 1:11:17Speaker 9: ask a lot of time. We ask for all the summers,
- 1:11:19Speaker 9: we ask for time after school, and we're doing zoom
- 1:11:23Speaker 9: meetings the night before games. Granted the kids are home,
- 1:11:26Speaker 9: but like everyone's logging onto a zoom at seven thirty
- 1:11:28Speaker 9: to eight thirty and we're tightening up some stuff for
- 1:11:31Speaker 9: the next game. So playing for us is probably a
- 1:11:34Speaker 9: little bit of a bigger time commitment than maybe some
- 1:11:36Speaker 9: of the other you know age you know at this
- 1:11:39Speaker 9: age level of some of the other teams. But we
- 1:11:41Speaker 9: don't shy away from it. We communicate it up front.
- 1:11:44Speaker 9: We're very open and honest about what we're doing. And
- 1:11:47Speaker 9: pretty much now for two years. Are the kids love it?
- 1:11:51Speaker 9: The kids would practice and watch film all day long.
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: Coach, when are we gonna watch practice? Coach, We're gonna
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: watch game film.
- 1:11:56Speaker 9: Hey, they love it, but it's a burden on the family,
- 1:12:00Speaker 9: so we're always very conscious and balance too.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: But hey, just to bring up a Nie Nick Saban quote,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: it takes what it takes.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: You tell me you're a feeling when we go undefeated
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: this year.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. You guys are essentially the IMG of.
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: Pop Warner football, really good teams and they could beat us.
- 1:12:20Speaker 9: Like, and I tell our kids all the time, like,
- 1:12:23Speaker 9: if the second we don't play our best game, we
- 1:12:25Speaker 9: are going to get everybody's best shot. And the second
- 1:12:28Speaker 9: we don't play our best game, we could lose. And
- 1:12:34Speaker 9: we don't ever talk about winning every game. I mean,
- 1:12:36Speaker 9: I joke about it with you guys, but like, we
- 1:12:38Speaker 9: don't ever talk to the kids like the expectation is
- 1:12:40Speaker 9: to win every game.
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: The expectation.
- 1:12:42Speaker 9: We never talk about wins and losses ever. All we
- 1:12:45Speaker 9: talk about is how good can we get? How good
- 1:12:47Speaker 9: can we get? And when we're good, we tell them
- 1:12:49Speaker 9: we're good. When we're not good, we make the corrections
- 1:12:52Speaker 9: and we tell them, hey, we got higher standards than this.
- 1:12:54Speaker 9: This is unacceptable, we got to address this or whatever
- 1:12:56Speaker 9: it is. So we never talk about wins and losses.
- 1:12:58Speaker 9: We don't start the season saying we got to win
- 1:13:00Speaker 9: all seven games, we got to win by one hundred like,
- 1:13:03Speaker 9: we never discuss wins and losses, and we we don't
- 1:13:06Speaker 9: coach the scoreboard. We are gonna coach you harder up
- 1:13:09Speaker 9: thirty than if we were up seven, and we don't
- 1:13:13Speaker 9: coach the scoreboard. We don't coach. We don't think you
- 1:13:15Speaker 9: played well because we won by thirty. We don't think
- 1:13:17Speaker 9: we played bad because we lost. We are gonna play.
- 1:13:19Speaker 9: We are gonna coach you based on your performance of
- 1:13:21Speaker 9: every play. And if we do that over and over
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: and over again, we probably won't win a lot of games.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: What do you say to the fans that are now
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: starting to there's some you know, there's some rat poison.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I feel like entering into your camp on there's this.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: I've been on some I've been on some message boards
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: and there's some talk. Now it's like, hey, as Greg
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Ols and this football team gotten a little too Hollywood. Yeah,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: they got vlogs, they're film and their game there Mike done.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: Seems like he's enjoying the spotlight a little.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, changed.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: Yeah, those haters and fans that are kind of seeing
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: that you guys are putting some Yeah, it wasn't.
- 1:14:01Speaker 5: The Hall of fame. It's not the Hall of fame
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: that's going to get to Luke. It's going to be
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: his seventh grade defense.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Some guys got different stuff, different jokes for different folks.
- 1:14:11Speaker 9: Hey, listen, we understand the world that we live in.
- 1:14:13Speaker 9: I think the kids really enjoy it. But with with
- 1:14:16Speaker 9: with all of it, and if you play for us,
- 1:14:19Speaker 9: honesty is never going to be an issue. There's never
- 1:14:21Speaker 9: going to be. I wonder where I stand. I wonder
- 1:14:23Speaker 9: what the messaging is. We're going to be very direct
- 1:14:25Speaker 9: and clear. Whether you like it or not, We're going
- 1:14:27Speaker 9: to be very direct and clear. We tell our kids
- 1:14:29Speaker 9: all the time, all this stuff is fun. Everybody likes
- 1:14:32Speaker 9: seeing the videos. Everybody likes laughing and Allsen's nuts and
- 1:14:35Speaker 9: keik Lee and but like the kids, they in today's world,
- 1:14:39Speaker 9: we all know people eat this stuff up, and we're
- 1:14:41Speaker 9: going to give the kids the opportunity to enjoy it. Right,
- 1:14:44Speaker 9: It's part of the experience of playing sports in today's world.
- 1:14:48Speaker 9: Whether everybody likes it or not, it's not going anywhere.
- 1:14:51Speaker 9: So the alternative one option is to lean into it
- 1:14:54Speaker 9: and do it and put the kids out there and
- 1:14:57Speaker 9: let them enjoy it. But then the other side it
- 1:15:00Speaker 9: is you got to target on your back, and there's
- 1:15:02Speaker 9: gonna be a lot of people that don't like it,
- 1:15:03Speaker 9: and there's a lot of people that don't like me,
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: and a lot don't like our staff and don't like
- 1:15:08Speaker 9: that they go to this school and they don't like
- 1:15:11Speaker 9: that you win, Like that's the real world in everything
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: that you do. It's gonna be even worse when you
- 1:15:17Speaker 9: get to high school and so on and so forth.
- 1:15:19Speaker 9: So we lean into it. We don't want to be
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: the bad guys. We're not trying to be bullies. We're
- 1:15:25Speaker 9: not trying to be We believe in coaching football the
- 1:15:28Speaker 9: way we all know football, and that doesn't start at
- 1:15:32Speaker 9: high school, it doesn't start in college. It doesn't start
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: if you're it's the only way to play the game
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: of football from a safety standpoint, from a competitive standpoint,
- 1:15:41Speaker 9: is to play the game the way we were all
- 1:15:43Speaker 9: taught to play the game, which is smart, fast, aggressive,
- 1:15:47Speaker 9: with great fundamentals and technique, and we are going to
- 1:15:49Speaker 9: play extremely hard and violent. That is the sport of football.
- 1:15:53Speaker 9: Whether you're in seventh grade, twelfth grade, or in your
- 1:15:55Speaker 9: tenth year in the NFL, it never changes. And that's
- 1:15:59Speaker 9: how we believe it should be played. That's how we
- 1:16:01Speaker 9: believe it should be coached. Our kids embrace it, they
- 1:16:04Speaker 9: love it, they thrive. We had thirty two kids on
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: the team last year.
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: We got fifty this year. We might have sixty next year.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: Like it works.
- 1:16:13Speaker 9: The notion that you can't hold kids to high standards,
- 1:16:16Speaker 9: the notion that you can't be intense in the correct forum,
- 1:16:19Speaker 9: with the correct words and the correct delivery, like it's
- 1:16:23Speaker 9: all and again we haven't always gotten all that right.
- 1:16:25Speaker 9: But these young boys at this age in their life,
- 1:16:29Speaker 9: they thrive on it. They feed on it. And the parents,
- 1:16:32Speaker 9: the amount of parents that tell me, like I don't
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: recognize my son anymore, Like this isn't the same boy
- 1:16:37Speaker 9: that I knew. His confidence, the way he stands up
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: getting ready in the morning, Like it has a lasting
- 1:16:43Speaker 9: impact on not just the football, it impacts them in everything.
- 1:16:47Speaker 9: And telling two guys like we all had the same life,
- 1:16:50Speaker 9: Like this was all we ever did, and whether we
- 1:16:52Speaker 9: ever played professional ball or not, those early football experiences
- 1:16:56Speaker 9: shaped everything we've ever done.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I don't recognize my sonnymore. He's taking Creed
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: team and way protein.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: Yeah morning.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: It reminds me of like a Kabe when he talks
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: about he's like, send your send your kid the daggastan
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: for two years. Forget like that is it sounds like
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: you just say, if you're a kid, you don't know
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: what he's gonna be. He's got maybe some toughness issues,
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: some you know, he's a little disorganized. Send him. But
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: Greg Ols and yeah.
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: Handle business and listen.
- 1:17:21Speaker 9: And I also want to be clear, like we have
- 1:17:23Speaker 9: a lot of fun, Like this is not just like
- 1:17:26Speaker 9: dog days grinding them through the pull. Like I tell
- 1:17:31Speaker 9: our kids, the more the game gets out of whack,
- 1:17:34Speaker 9: the harder we're gonna coach you. Because the problem in blowouts,
- 1:17:40Speaker 9: especially at the young age, is that's where bad habits
- 1:17:42Speaker 9: get created. So all of a sudden, how often do
- 1:17:44Speaker 9: you see, all right, the game's out of reach. Now
- 1:17:46Speaker 9: everything's okay. Now you jumped off sides. Man, we fumbled
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: the snap and we didn't line up correctly. But all
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: of a sudden Now you're just coaching to the scoreboard.
- 1:17:55Speaker 9: We don't coach the scoreboard because those habits we lose
- 1:17:58Speaker 9: in the second half of a thirty point game. I
- 1:18:00Speaker 9: got to spend all week next week undoing all of
- 1:18:03Speaker 9: those habits before our next game. And we don't have
- 1:18:05Speaker 9: time for that. Like, we don't have time to keep
- 1:18:07Speaker 9: going backwards. So when it's thirty to nothing, we're going
- 1:18:10Speaker 9: to coach the hell out of your splits, and we're
- 1:18:12Speaker 9: going to coach your stance, and we're going to coach
- 1:18:14Speaker 9: your getoff and your leverage and which head wehar's your
- 1:18:17Speaker 9: hat placement, because the second we let it go, that
- 1:18:20Speaker 9: habit now has been formed in a negative way. I
- 1:18:23Speaker 9: got to coach the shit out of that all week
- 1:18:25Speaker 9: now again against a team who's better, and it could
- 1:18:28Speaker 9: cost us. So like, yeah, that's just the way it works, man, Like,
- 1:18:32Speaker 9: there's no other way to play the game of football
- 1:18:34Speaker 9: if you want to play it and you want to
- 1:18:36Speaker 9: be competitive and you want to be safe and you
- 1:18:37Speaker 9: don't want to get hurt, and the only way to
- 1:18:40Speaker 9: play it is that way. And we want to teach
- 1:18:43Speaker 9: these kids as young as possible what that looks like.
- 1:18:46Speaker 9: So that they're ready for high school. That's our number
- 1:18:47Speaker 9: one goal. Get these kids ready to be high school players,
- 1:18:51Speaker 9: some of them next year, and then obviously the seventh
- 1:18:53Speaker 9: graders in two years.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: So we gotta you want to hit Mitch's question.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: I did want to add, just this is a quick hypothetic. Well,
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: let's say in Netflix or a paramount or a Prime
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: came to you or like or a busting or or
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: a busting busting productions and they're like, Hey, love what
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: you're doing. I think the world needs to see what
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: you're doing. What do you think of like a reality
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: Gridiron Pupps type of show that comes out like a SERI,
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: like an eight you know, any fashion Corners eight episode series.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: Would you humor that conversation with said programs?
- 1:19:28Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: I think I would.
- 1:19:29Speaker 9: I I believe Here's what I'll say. I don't sit
- 1:19:35Speaker 9: here you I've talked to you guys a million times.
- 1:19:37Speaker 9: I don't sit here pretending that I have all the
- 1:19:39Speaker 9: answers or that our way is the only way of
- 1:19:42Speaker 9: doing football. I'm the first to say we have not
- 1:19:45Speaker 9: always done everything right in the world of youth sports.
- 1:19:47Speaker 9: We've not always coached our teams right. I haven't always been.
- 1:19:50Speaker 9: My message to my own three children after games or
- 1:19:53Speaker 9: after practices has not always been right. I'm the first
- 1:19:55Speaker 9: to address that I am an intense person. I love
- 1:19:59Speaker 9: to compete. I don't like other people getting the better
- 1:20:02Speaker 9: of me. It's just the way I'm wired. So it
- 1:20:05Speaker 9: comes through and the teams that I coach like. I
- 1:20:07Speaker 9: want my kids to embody highly, highly competitive spirit in
- 1:20:12Speaker 9: everything that they do, because I think that's how you
- 1:20:17Speaker 9: learn and grow and find yourself in the world of sports.
- 1:20:20Speaker 9: Having said that, I think I would have no problem
- 1:20:23Speaker 9: with people seeing behind the curtain of what we do
- 1:20:25Speaker 9: us not everyone's gonna like it. Some people are gonna
- 1:20:28Speaker 9: love it. Some people are gonna say, oh my god,
- 1:20:30Speaker 9: this is what I want for my son or daughter.
- 1:20:32Speaker 9: But other people are gonna say, I want nothing to
- 1:20:34Speaker 9: do with that. And that's okay. We love these kids.
- 1:20:37Speaker 9: These kids know they're loved, and these kids know that
- 1:20:40Speaker 9: they're going to be coached big time and hard and
- 1:20:43Speaker 9: held accountable. And after every game, every parent who comes
- 1:20:46Speaker 9: up and shakes our hand says, continue to coach my kid,
- 1:20:51Speaker 9: continue to push my kid, because the kid they gave
- 1:20:53Speaker 9: us is very different than the kid we give them back.
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: That doesn't mean there's not bumps in the road. That
- 1:20:58Speaker 9: doesn't means at times got to push the envelope. But man,
- 1:21:02Speaker 9: the finished product at the end of the season, we
- 1:21:04Speaker 9: give these kids back and they move on to basketball
- 1:21:07Speaker 9: or wrestling or whatever they or they just go home
- 1:21:09Speaker 9: and they don't play a winter sport. Man, seeing the
- 1:21:12Speaker 9: finished product is far and away better than the wins
- 1:21:15Speaker 9: and the losses. I think being able to showcase that
- 1:21:19Speaker 9: and all the work that we put in the summers,
- 1:21:21Speaker 9: the meetings, the calls, the lunches with me and Luke,
- 1:21:24Speaker 9: I think people would. I think a lot of people
- 1:21:26Speaker 9: would enjoy it. I think some people would think it's
- 1:21:28Speaker 9: too much, and that's okay.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we got a question for you in the back
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: from our boy Mitch. You obviously you played a buddy
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: of his. You guys played his team recently, But Mitch,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: go ahead, brother Coach.
- 1:21:39Speaker 8: Greg, there is a clip going around of you and
- 1:21:41Speaker 8: Coach Luke watching film of the penalty, and you guys
- 1:21:44Speaker 8: were not very happy with said penalty. Meanwhile, you guys
- 1:21:47Speaker 8: were up forty four to nothing. My question is how
- 1:21:51Speaker 8: much hell do you guys give the refs of these games.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: Great question by Mitch Carl.
- 1:21:55Speaker 9: I'm glad you asked me this, and I hope this
- 1:21:58Speaker 9: clip goes. I think it's going to go hard time.
- 1:22:02Speaker 9: I've said this. I've said this about NFL referees, So
- 1:22:05Speaker 9: I'm standing consistent with NFL referees all the way down
- 1:22:09Speaker 9: to middle school and you know, Pop Warner, I think
- 1:22:12Speaker 9: they have a really hard job. I think there's a
- 1:22:14Speaker 9: lot going on. I think when you get down to
- 1:22:17Speaker 9: lower age groups, you know, so middle school age groups,
- 1:22:20Speaker 9: on every play there's chaos, right, there's coaches yelling to
- 1:22:24Speaker 9: get kids lined up, there's formations that look a little wonky,
- 1:22:27Speaker 9: there's kids downfield, there's holding calls. There could be penalties
- 1:22:32Speaker 9: on every single play. I totally understand that and respect
- 1:22:37Speaker 9: the job that they're doing. Do we work the officials
- 1:22:40Speaker 9: the entire game, Yes, there's That's kind of part the
- 1:22:45Speaker 9: football culture of continuing to find advantages for your teams
- 1:22:49Speaker 9: is kind of ingrained. After every game, though, I make
- 1:22:52Speaker 9: sure I go to the officials like there's nothing personal
- 1:22:55Speaker 9: about any of this, Like this is not personal attacks
- 1:22:57Speaker 9: on them. This is not that I quit their integrity
- 1:23:01Speaker 9: or question their competency. We are going to coach hard.
- 1:23:04Speaker 9: We're going to coach our kids hard. We're going to
- 1:23:05Speaker 9: try to find every advantage. We're going to try to
- 1:23:07Speaker 9: find every call. We're going to try to manipulate the
- 1:23:10Speaker 9: game the best that we can. That particular example, it
- 1:23:14Speaker 9: was halftime when I said, let's go girls, it was
- 1:23:17Speaker 9: the cheerleaders. I've been very clear with you guys that
- 1:23:20Speaker 9: halftime stops because the girls, my daughter's on the cheerleading team,
- 1:23:23Speaker 9: they go out and perform. So the clip after me
- 1:23:25Speaker 9: saying that is like, let's go girls. Obviously I was
- 1:23:28Speaker 9: responding to my daughter and her friends that just cheered
- 1:23:31Speaker 9: at halftime.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: But yeah, we have iPads that we can see.
- 1:23:34Speaker 9: And there was a fourth down personal foul called that
- 1:23:37Speaker 9: they said our guy knocked down the quarterback late.
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: Actually the.
- 1:23:43Speaker 9: Offensive lineman ran into his own quarterback and knocked him down,
- 1:23:49Speaker 9: And that's why I said that. And again the score
- 1:23:51Speaker 9: is irrelevant. I was saying that amongst our coaches. At halftime,
- 1:23:55Speaker 9: we're trying to regroup on everything that had gone on,
- 1:23:58Speaker 9: and in the heat of the game, yeah, we're intense.
- 1:24:01Speaker 9: In the heat of the game, we're after we're coaching
- 1:24:03Speaker 9: our kids, we're yelling at our own coaches. Me and
- 1:24:05Speaker 9: my dad are arguing. Me and Luke are like, it's
- 1:24:09Speaker 9: a football sideline, is an intense sideline. But I have
- 1:24:12Speaker 9: a ton of respect for officials. I don't think their
- 1:24:15Speaker 9: job is easy at any level. And after every game
- 1:24:18Speaker 9: I make sure at least my message to them is like, listen,
- 1:24:20Speaker 9: whatever happened during the game, arguing, calls, holding off sides, downfield,
- 1:24:25Speaker 9: whatever it was, We're good. There's zero animosity, zero hard feelings.
- 1:24:30Speaker 9: I don't envy the job you guys have, and I'll
- 1:24:32Speaker 9: see you guys in a couple weeks.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: We're good. I was like, oh, all right, yeah, that's
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: one sided. Maybe sometimes do I ride them? Yes, yeah,
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: no question. At the score, it's irrelevant.
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: Hey, that's the biggest thing.
- 1:24:45Speaker 9: And I and I get that from everyone, like, man,
- 1:24:47Speaker 9: why are you get you know you're up by a lot.
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: We don't coach to the.
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: Scoreboard, right, yes, sir, The score, in.
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: My mind, is completely irrelevant the game.
- 1:25:01Speaker 9: When the score gets out of hand, we ad of
- 1:25:05Speaker 9: every single one of our kids has played in the
- 1:25:07Speaker 9: last two games, all forty nine of them, we control
- 1:25:11Speaker 9: the score. We get young kids in, we get some
- 1:25:14Speaker 9: kids who haven't gotten a lot kids that have never
- 1:25:15Speaker 9: played football before. We use the depth of our roster
- 1:25:19Speaker 9: to control the scoreboard. We're not looking to score one hundred.
- 1:25:23Speaker 9: We will always be respectful of the other team. But
- 1:25:26Speaker 9: we also owe it to our older kids, who gave
- 1:25:28Speaker 9: their entire summer, who give four days a week of practice,
- 1:25:31Speaker 9: who get coached really hard. We owe it to them
- 1:25:33Speaker 9: that they get to play and we get to run
- 1:25:36Speaker 9: our offense, and we get to run our defense, and
- 1:25:38Speaker 9: we get to do all the things that we spend
- 1:25:39Speaker 9: so much time working on. The kids deserve game day
- 1:25:43Speaker 9: because it's in football. It's so much more practice than
- 1:25:46Speaker 9: it is games. It's the only youth sport that's designed
- 1:25:49Speaker 9: like that. If you don't give the kids the game experience,
- 1:25:53Speaker 9: the grind of the weekday practice is hard.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: It's a lot breaks you down a little bit.
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: Should we tuk some ball?
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: Hey, so I have a I have a couple of
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: questions for you going off to the first game on
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: the Sunday slate out in Were they in Dublin?
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: There not in America?
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: Somewhere on international soil?
- 1:26:15Speaker 9: Uh?
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: Thoughts on Dylan Gabriel's performance debut, and then also go ahead,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: let's start with that one because the other one will
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: be a much loaded.
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: Yeah, the game was in.
- 1:26:23Speaker 9: The game was in London, Minnesota, and Cleveland was in London,
- 1:26:26Speaker 9: so we had Minnesota in Dublin and then they flew
- 1:26:29Speaker 9: So they're the first NFL team to do back to
- 1:26:31Speaker 9: back international games. So they were kind of like the
- 1:26:33Speaker 9: pilot of Okay, what would this look like if we
- 1:26:37Speaker 9: had people double up and play overseas in consecutive week.
- 1:26:40Speaker 9: So Minnesota volunteer. They played Pittsburgh and the game we
- 1:26:43Speaker 9: did in Dublin, then they flew to London, spent the week,
- 1:26:46Speaker 9: played another game, then they'll.
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: Come home and have their bye week.
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: I caught that.
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: I caught that game.
- 1:26:51Speaker 9: We were heading we were traveling to the stadium for
- 1:26:54Speaker 9: our one o'clock kick when that game was on. I
- 1:26:56Speaker 9: caught probably half of the game in the just getting
- 1:27:00Speaker 9: ready for it, and so I saw bits and pieces
- 1:27:03Speaker 9: of Dylan Gaber also bits and pieces of the game
- 1:27:06Speaker 9: kind of know, went back and forth. I think he
- 1:27:09Speaker 9: was okay, right, I think he's gonna be und There's
- 1:27:11Speaker 9: gonna be a lot of speculation, There's gonna be a
- 1:27:13Speaker 9: lot of you know, scrutiny about how he's playing, of
- 1:27:16Speaker 9: course with Shador and should Shador be the guy and
- 1:27:18Speaker 9: all the antics this week in the locker room once
- 1:27:20Speaker 9: they named Dylan the starter and what that all looks like.
- 1:27:23Speaker 9: But I think we have to give a little bit
- 1:27:26Speaker 9: of grace and understand that that offense is a work
- 1:27:29Speaker 9: in progress. That offense is going to have some struggles,
- 1:27:31Speaker 9: and all of a sudden putting in a rookie quarterback
- 1:27:34Speaker 9: is not all of a sudden gonna.
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: Make all of that go away. I thought they played competitive.
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: Their defense is nasty, but.
- 1:27:41Speaker 9: I thought Minnesota, considering how many guys they were down
- 1:27:44Speaker 9: in the offensive line, they made just enough players obviously
- 1:27:46Speaker 9: to pull it out.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I would agree with that. I thought Dylan played okay.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: There were some inaccurate throws that he did have, had
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: some moments. We got to talk to our boy and Joku. Hey,
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: if he don't get the ball, I'm watching the tape,
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: he throws up his hands.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: Yeah, every time receiversancy you do seems to be a
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: little more devish, I'm.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: Sure like Greg will take Greg was a phenomenal tight end,
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: like you're tied in out there like your best you know,
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: like your number one guy.
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: Is out there like.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Throwing up his hands like this, if it's a tough throw,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: he doesn't give him the ball.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: Especially with the rookie quarterback making his first start. Right,
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: it's like give him right, Like you saw Justin Jefferson
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: a few weeks ago with JJ McCarthy on his first start,
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: even though it wasn't going the way they want to
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: the fourth quarter, JJ's like, or Justin Jefferson is like, hey,
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: I've got you. We're gonna be all right, be all good.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Ends up pulling it out at the end.
- 1:28:31Speaker 9: Well over over the course of time, I'm sure in
- 1:28:34Speaker 9: fourteen years there's clips of me having a reaction or
- 1:28:38Speaker 9: throwing my head back if I thought I was open.
- 1:28:40Speaker 9: I'm sure it happens sporadically for everybody. You just don't
- 1:28:43Speaker 9: want it to become you know, you don't want to
- 1:28:46Speaker 9: become consistent. You want it to become continuous that over
- 1:28:49Speaker 9: and over, every time you don't get the ball, your
- 1:28:51Speaker 9: body language turns the ship like you don't want to
- 1:28:55Speaker 9: be that guy. Quarterbacks don't trust that guy. Every now
- 1:28:58Speaker 9: and then you're gonna have a weak moment, a moment
- 1:29:00Speaker 9: of frustration. Of course, it just can't become a habit,
- 1:29:05Speaker 9: because that's when the quarterback looks at you and he's like,
- 1:29:08Speaker 9: hey man, shut up, Like right enough, I see it.
- 1:29:12Speaker 9: It's disrespectful, it's making me look bad, it's making all
- 1:29:15Speaker 9: the attention about you. So you got to be careful.
- 1:29:18Speaker 9: You don't ever want to be in a position where
- 1:29:20Speaker 9: you show up your quarterback. So yeah, I'm have I
- 1:29:26Speaker 9: ever done it?
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: Probably? Would I be proud of it?
- 1:29:29Speaker 9: No?
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: And would you want to do it over and over
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: again that you can't?
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: Yeah? Absolutely.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: My second question is going to be what do you
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: feel like the conversation looks like now for the Vikings
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: at quarterback? I thought Carson Wentz played pretty well and
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: obviously having that game winning drive driving at eighty yards
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: there to win the game. What do you think the
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: conversations are like from Minnesota right now going into the
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: bye week?
- 1:29:49Speaker 9: Yeah, I think this bye week is going to be
- 1:29:51Speaker 9: really interesting. You know, they lost a close one. They
- 1:29:53Speaker 9: had the ball with a chance to at least go
- 1:29:55Speaker 9: down and tie against Pittsburgh the week before, and he
- 1:29:59Speaker 9: took bad sack grounding call and it kind of derailed
- 1:30:02Speaker 9: the end of the game. So they end up losing,
- 1:30:04Speaker 9: and you know, then it's like, oh, we can't wait
- 1:30:06Speaker 9: for JJ McCarthy to get back, and then they go
- 1:30:08Speaker 9: and they pull off the late game come back against
- 1:30:11Speaker 9: you know, arguably one of the best defenses in the
- 1:30:12Speaker 9: league in Cleveland, and you know, so obviously Wentz comes
- 1:30:16Speaker 9: through when they need it and they pull out a
- 1:30:17Speaker 9: win without their starting right tackle. They're starting center on
- 1:30:20Speaker 9: their first round left guard or right guard Jackson from
- 1:30:24Speaker 9: Ohio State. So me down three starting offensive lineman overseas
- 1:30:29Speaker 9: back to back games, and you do it against a
- 1:30:31Speaker 9: really good defense and obviously Miles Garrett arguably the best
- 1:30:33Speaker 9: defensive player in the league. So good bounce back game
- 1:30:36Speaker 9: there for Carson Wentz. I think Kevin O'Connell's a stud.
- 1:30:40Speaker 9: But yeah, they've got a question on their hand. They've
- 1:30:42Speaker 9: got a situation on their hand, right, like what is
- 1:30:44Speaker 9: that balance? I think every organization goes through. What is
- 1:30:46Speaker 9: the balance between being competitive in this very moment, which
- 1:30:50Speaker 9: we all know is the NFL. This is a results
- 1:30:53Speaker 9: oriented business. You have to win today versus JJ McCarthy,
- 1:30:58Speaker 9: who in their mind is the quarterback of the future
- 1:31:01Speaker 9: both tomorrow and how many years. So I don't have
- 1:31:06Speaker 9: a great feel of what they're gonna do.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't either.
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: I'll be honest, I don't have a great feel for it.
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: I think j J.
- 1:31:15Speaker 9: McCarthy's a really good player. I think he can have
- 1:31:17Speaker 9: a really good career in this league. I like him
- 1:31:19Speaker 9: as a kid, I like him as a guy. Every
- 1:31:21Speaker 9: time I've talked to him, I've walked away like really
- 1:31:23Speaker 9: impressed with just his presence. But I'm not sure if
- 1:31:27Speaker 9: Carson Wentz has done enough to not continue to play.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: I'm with you, I don't know. It's what's the most
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: important goal this year? Is it winning football games? To me,
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: if it's winning, it's Carson and Greg when you go on,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: like watch this tape two. I think Carson does a
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: great He throws a good ball, he's he's getting out
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: of trouble very well. He keeps his eyes down field,
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: he's throwing the ball, he's he's ripping it before guys
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: are getting out of their breaks. So they're right there,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: they're right there, and it's tattooed right on him. He
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: throws a good fifty to fifty ball to Justin Jefferson
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: to where I don't know. Maybe, I mean, you're JJ McCarthy,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: any young quarterback. You think, okay, I have Justin Jefferson.
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Let's give him a shot out at times where it's
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: like he's clearly covered and he throws great fifty to
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: fifty balls. I think Carson Wentz is the guy. If
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: you're if you're looking at if the goal is winning
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: games this season, I in my opinion, it's Carson Wentz.
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: If it's the development and throwing everything into the future,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: then obviously that's where the decision with JJ McCarthy would
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: come from. But I feel like Carson's played some good football.
- 1:32:25Speaker 6: Man.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: I think you're in a position. You're in the best
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: possible situation if you're the Minnesota Vikings, because you can
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: actually have both. Like what is Kevin O'Connell. The whole
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: theme around Kevin occonnell this year is look what he's
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: done with these backup quarterbacks. If I'm Minnesota, I'm secretly
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: giving it to a beat writer that publicly JJ McCarthy
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: is a bust. Let the world know that JJ's a bust.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: Once he's a bust and everyone says he's a bust,
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: he'll now be good because Kevin O'Connell will make him good.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: That's how it works.
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: It's Kevin O'Connell's school for rehabilitated quarterbacks.
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly, that's what they need to do. Carson Wentz
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: let him play. Make it seem like JJ's a bust.
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: He's done. Something will happen, maybe Carson Wentz, he has
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: a little anky, a soft tish happens later in the year,
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: JJ comes in big time playoffront. Oh my god, They're
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: in the NFC Championship.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I just I feel like Carson he's uh, he's
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: much more equipped to play that game, at that second level,
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: at that extra gear he's done.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: I mean, people forget he was he was v he
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: was MVP either MVP R MVP caliber guy and then
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: his team ended up winning the Super Bowl. He towards
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: a cl Nick Foles ended up taking over. Like he
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: is a guy, and he's been sitting resting, learning, playing
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: on multiple different teams like he he is an absolute stud.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: So you know he'll he'll probably play himself into a
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: starting quarterback, whether it's Minnesota or somewhere else next year,
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: just like Sam Donald, just like Daniel Jones, just like
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: all these guys. So it's impressive for the game that
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: you called Cowboys Jets. Are we sitting in a situation
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: now where Dak Prescott is an MVP front runner guy
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: At this point the.
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: Front runner probably debatable? Is he in the conversation? Without question?
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: He's a the two or three?
- 1:34:01Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, think about what he did yesterday. Okay,
- 1:34:04Speaker 9: Now I understand the Jets have not been good and
- 1:34:07Speaker 9: they've yet to win. Defensively, they're not bad, right Like,
- 1:34:10Speaker 9: defensively that is not a historically bad defense or at
- 1:34:14Speaker 9: the bottom of you know, they're at the bottom of
- 1:34:15Speaker 9: some categories, but not like you don't go into that
- 1:34:17Speaker 9: game saying, oh my god, the Jets are horrible. The Dallas'
- 1:34:21Speaker 9: defense was thirty second in the league. They were historically
- 1:34:25Speaker 9: bad in a lot of categories, and Dak went into
- 1:34:29Speaker 9: that game on the road with the worst defense in football,
- 1:34:32Speaker 9: albeit played very well against the Jets, but that's a
- 1:34:34Speaker 9: different conversation. Worst defense in the league through four weeks,
- 1:34:37Speaker 9: statistically missing four starting offensive linemen. So I mean, Taylor,
- 1:34:43Speaker 9: we can't find five linemen on a lot.
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: Of teams, let alone nine.
- 1:34:47Speaker 9: So he went into that game with Terren Steele and
- 1:34:51Speaker 9: backup left tackle, left guard, center, right guard Tyler Smith
- 1:34:54Speaker 9: was the only other starting lineman in uniform. He did
- 1:34:58Speaker 9: not play a snack. He was like a merge and
- 1:35:00Speaker 9: see dealing with an injury. He went into that game
- 1:35:03Speaker 9: without Cede Lamb, four starting offensive lineman in the worst
- 1:35:06Speaker 9: defense in football, and it was thirty to three in
- 1:35:10Speaker 9: the fourth quarter, and it ended up being like thirty
- 1:35:13Speaker 9: seven to twenty two, or it ended up getting some
- 1:35:15Speaker 9: garbage time points. The game was never in question. That's
- 1:35:18Speaker 9: pretty impressive. Yeah, and you know what he did against
- 1:35:22Speaker 9: Green Bay the week before where they tied in overtime,
- 1:35:25Speaker 9: Like what he did when coming back to win against
- 1:35:28Speaker 9: the Giants at home when they had to score forty
- 1:35:30Speaker 9: to win, because Russell Wilson went off like he's done
- 1:35:34Speaker 9: it almost every single game.
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: And everything around him has not been perfect.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: Yeah, just bringing up the offensive linement, were like, you
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: keep maybe nine guys on there, and so you're bringing
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: guys off of practice squad, plucking guys some other teams
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: as well, putting them in uniform. The week before me like, hey,
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: you guys got to figure it out in case you
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: have a situation where one of these other guys go down.
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: So they're there. It's a very fragile position. To be in,
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: especially in your quarterback to play well. I'm blown away
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: by him. I'm very impressed by Schottenheimer up to this
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: point in the season because you're right, their defense, I mean,
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: statistically aren't bad. A lot of times people can say, well,
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: statistically they're bad, but x one ze, there's no butt,
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: like the Cowboys defense is actually just bad. You put
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: on the film and it seems not competitive at some points.
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: When you watch a Giants film and then you have
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: them go against the Packers, who are just studs, end up,
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: you know, Dak plays them into a tie there. I
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: worry about the Cowboys because if Dak has an off day,
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: they will lose. That is just how it is going
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: to go for them, and that inevitably will happen through
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: the drag of this season, being you know, only the
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: second week of October.
- 1:36:41Speaker 9: Yeah, you're not gonna score thirty seven a game, right right.
- 1:36:44Speaker 9: I think they came into the game averaging like twenty eight,
- 1:36:47Speaker 9: twenty nine something like that. They scored thirty seven, They
- 1:36:50Speaker 9: scored forty when they tie, they scored forty when they
- 1:36:53Speaker 9: tie up forty in Bay, So like, you're not really
- 1:36:57Speaker 9: the only game they didn't particularly score a lot of
- 1:36:59Speaker 9: points was the Chicago game. So the one thing I
- 1:37:02Speaker 9: will say, yes, you're not going to score thirty plus
- 1:37:04Speaker 9: every single game. There will be some games where they're
- 1:37:07Speaker 9: gonna have to score in the low twenties. There might
- 1:37:10Speaker 9: be a game where they score seventeen that you know,
- 1:37:13Speaker 9: can they win those games? Probably at this point probably not.
- 1:37:17Speaker 9: I will say the defense was significantly better yesterday. I
- 1:37:20Speaker 9: think the more digs in Bland continue to get their
- 1:37:23Speaker 9: legs under them.
- 1:37:24Speaker 5: Remember they're paying two.
- 1:37:25Speaker 9: Big time former role pro both their corners paying top money.
- 1:37:29Speaker 9: Both have battled injuries. Lower body injuries takes the toll
- 1:37:32Speaker 9: at the cornerback position. Playing a lot more zone with
- 1:37:35Speaker 9: eber Flus, so they're not really playing to their strengths
- 1:37:38Speaker 9: in man coverage. They're starting to sprinkle in a little
- 1:37:40Speaker 9: bit more man.
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: They lose Micah.
- 1:37:41Speaker 9: Parsons, they lose de Marcus Lawrence, so you start looking
- 1:37:44Speaker 9: at some of the defensive transitions. They're not going to
- 1:37:47Speaker 9: be a top five defense, they're not going to be
- 1:37:49Speaker 9: a top ten defense. But can they be a middle
- 1:37:51Speaker 9: of the road average defense, And now, all of a sudden,
- 1:37:54Speaker 9: can they start winning games? Twenty four twenty one twenty
- 1:37:57Speaker 9: seven to twenty four. Yeah, I think that's probably the
- 1:38:00Speaker 9: most likely scenario, when Cede Lamb comes back and Camante
- 1:38:04Speaker 9: Turpin comes back and they're not out for starting offensive
- 1:38:07Speaker 9: linemen and George Pickens is coming to life and Dak
- 1:38:11Speaker 9: and I mean Javonte Williams the running back is.
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: A stud like playing well, I just see their offense
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: getting healthier and getting better.
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: That's fair, fair, very fair. Defense does have to have
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: to get a lot.
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: Better more man because they they're at like ninety six
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: percent zone at one point. And you're right, like those
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: two corners do great in man coverage, Like why why
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: and you're not disguising.
- 1:38:35Speaker 9: Well, it's just a bad allocation of resources, right, You're
- 1:38:37Speaker 9: paying two top tier corners granted coming off injury, which
- 1:38:42Speaker 9: I'm sure is part of Iberflus's plan of like, all right,
- 1:38:44Speaker 9: let's not expose them. Lands had the foot, obviously Diggs
- 1:38:48Speaker 9: has had a couple lower bodies back to back, so like,
- 1:38:50Speaker 9: I understand that. But we talked about this yesterday on
- 1:38:53Speaker 9: the broadcast, and like, here's the disconnect that a lot
- 1:38:55Speaker 9: of teams have and their approach connecting their defense to
- 1:38:58Speaker 9: their offense. I'm gonna believe that I need to build
- 1:39:00Speaker 9: my defense to mirror the strengths of my offense. Right, So,
- 1:39:04Speaker 9: for years under McCarthy, with last year being the exception,
- 1:39:08Speaker 9: there were a thirty point offensive lead, you're leading the
- 1:39:10Speaker 9: league in points twenty two to twenty three around then,
- 1:39:14Speaker 9: I don't need to stop the run. I don't need
- 1:39:16Speaker 9: a lot of big bodies. I need pass rushers and
- 1:39:18Speaker 9: I need defensive backs because we're gonna play nickel personnel
- 1:39:22Speaker 9: and we're going to play the pass virtually the entire game.
- 1:39:25Speaker 9: Because every time you try to run the ball at
- 1:39:27Speaker 9: me and I'm scoring thirty, I don't give a shit.
- 1:39:30Speaker 9: If you run for two hundred yards, You're not gonna
- 1:39:32Speaker 9: beat me, right, you can't. You're not going to have
- 1:39:34Speaker 9: enough possessions to score thirty a game unless I just
- 1:39:36Speaker 9: give it to you. Last year, Dak gets hurt, offense
- 1:39:39Speaker 9: goes to the bottom of the league, and all of
- 1:39:41Speaker 9: a sudden, the wards of the defense. Yes, Micah Parsons
- 1:39:45Speaker 9: is not nearly as effective if he's not rushing the passer,
- 1:39:47Speaker 9: and so on and so forth. The defensive backs are
- 1:39:50Speaker 9: not granted they were hurt, they're not nearly as impactful.
- 1:39:52Speaker 9: If you're not throwing the ball thirty five times a year,
- 1:39:55Speaker 9: game end of the game, you're trying to play catch
- 1:39:57Speaker 9: up and you're throwing pick sixes to bland and digs.
- 1:40:00Speaker 9: So if they were built last year, the offense falls
- 1:40:02Speaker 9: apart and the defense gets exposed. They overcorrect on defense, right.
- 1:40:07Speaker 9: They're saying, we don't need Micael Parsons. We need to
- 1:40:09Speaker 9: get better at stopping the run. And now I ask
- 1:40:11Speaker 9: who cares how good you are stopping the run. If
- 1:40:13Speaker 9: your offense is going to score thirty a game, you
- 1:40:16Speaker 9: better defend the pass, you better rush the passer, and
- 1:40:18Speaker 9: you better play defense in the back end, because that's
- 1:40:22Speaker 9: what teams are gonna have to do to chase your points.
- 1:40:24Speaker 9: So they're a little misaligned in their approach. If they
- 1:40:28Speaker 9: can get the defense rushing the passer like they did
- 1:40:30Speaker 9: yesterday more consistently, it will go a long way.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: And like you said, too, like sprinkling and playing more
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: mayn playing to the strengths of the corners that you
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: did pay because again, when their offense was high flying
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: and their defense was kind of complimenting them, they were
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: very good in the turnover category, creating takeaways, getting picks,
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: like you said Sacks, But yeah, you're right there.
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: Everything you just said reminded me of the old Colts
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: of Peyton Manning, Like you have a defense that's built
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: to play against the pass, and you have Peyton man
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: who's gonna put up thirty thirty plus a game. And
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: so yeah, I fully agree.
- 1:41:02Speaker 9: Yeah, So we're gonna sit in cover tune and Bob
- 1:41:04Speaker 9: Sanders is gonna run around the back end. And if
- 1:41:06Speaker 9: you want to run against our soft boxes all day
- 1:41:09Speaker 9: and you think you're gonna keep pace with Peyton Manning,
- 1:41:11Speaker 9: knock yourself out.
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: Yeah, go for it. Have fun with that.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: And you know he doesn't get he gets for God.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: But Pat Anger middle linebacker, undersize put his face on people.
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: It's always about the linebackers exactly.
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: Luke Eakley weld know about Pat Anger.
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: Ravens.
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: Is it?
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: Are we too far gone for the Ravens with how
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: many injuries they have? They have an abysmal loss this
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: past weekend. They're going to play the Rams this week?
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: Are we looking? Are we? Are we essentially having a
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: grave ceremony for the Ravens at this point in the season.
- 1:41:48Speaker 5: We're certainly getting there.
- 1:41:51Speaker 9: I didn't see any of the game, So I don't
- 1:41:53Speaker 9: know exactly how bad it was. Obviously I saw the
- 1:41:56Speaker 9: box score just contint during my game. We have like
- 1:41:59Speaker 9: a box in the in the in the booth that
- 1:42:02Speaker 9: just is like a tile of every game going on
- 1:42:05Speaker 9: across town, you know, across the league, and it just
- 1:42:08Speaker 9: the score just kept getting more and more out of control.
- 1:42:11Speaker 9: So I don't know exactly the context that I know
- 1:42:14Speaker 9: Lamar threw a couple of picks and whatnot. But I
- 1:42:17Speaker 9: think big picture, a week or two ago, when the
- 1:42:19Speaker 9: world was coming to an end and they were the
- 1:42:21Speaker 9: topic of you know, are the Ravens done? The Ravens,
- 1:42:24Speaker 9: I kind of was like, pumped the brakes, they'll figure
- 1:42:26Speaker 9: it out. Their defense really struggled to start the year
- 1:42:28Speaker 9: last year, and they found their way down the stretch
- 1:42:31Speaker 9: and really got better. I just I think it's a
- 1:42:35Speaker 9: combination of injuries. I think it's a combination of not
- 1:42:38Speaker 9: playing complimentary ball. I think they've got a lot going
- 1:42:43Speaker 9: on personnel wise. They're they're in trouble because to lose
- 1:42:49Speaker 9: what was it, forty to three?
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: Is that the score?
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: Yeah? No, no, life.
- 1:42:54Speaker 9: It was something like that against Houston, who they'd been okay,
- 1:43:00Speaker 9: but they.
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: A lot, uh, from the offensive side of the back.
- 1:43:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: I was gonna say offensively, their defenses is very defensively,
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: it's just getting you know, CJ. Stroud, They that offense
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: has now started to show life. That's what everybody's kind
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: of been waiting on because Houston could be tough that
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: offense gets going, which they did.
- 1:43:20Speaker 9: Did they score all forty against that against Baltimore? Was
- 1:43:24Speaker 9: it offense or were some of those turnovers defensive touchdowns? Again,
- 1:43:28Speaker 9: I didn't I didn't see the game itself. All off
- 1:43:31Speaker 9: how'd they score forty?
- 1:43:32Speaker 11: Like?
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: Was it clean offense forty? Or did was it a
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: pick six? A fumbled?
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:43:37Speaker 5: Do you know?
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: All offense?
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:43:41Speaker 8: Stroud stat line was I think they had like four
- 1:43:43Speaker 8: touchdowns and like three or four field goals.
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, yeah it was a clean it was a
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: clean forty.
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: Yeah, they handled them.
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: That's hard to do in the league.
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: Yeah, they handled them.
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: It's tough to see from the Ravens, and I think
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: they're also having an identity crisis on offensive what they
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: want to be because you know, Derek, in the first
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: three games the season, rights three three fourth quarter, three
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: fourth quarter turnovers, which is you know, very unlike Derek Henry.
- 1:44:04Speaker 2: But then you get to the fourth game of the
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: season and he has like eight rushes the entire day,
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: and then this game it seems like Hill is now
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: more the premiere back as Henry Win. If you're running
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: with a backup quarterback and you're missing your left tackle
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: on Ronnie Stanley, why not put yourself in a bigger
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: personnel situations and run the ball Downhill, control the clock,
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: and you use that to your advantage because you have well.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: They tried to do. They tried to at first, but yeah,
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: but when you're down two scores, when you get down
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: two scores fast and they're stopping d Henny out of
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: the gate, that's where it's like, yeah, I see what
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: you mean. I think you need your starters on offense
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: to kind of get that identity through Derek through the
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: run game back a little bit.
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: But yeah, they're they're in a very they're in a
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: very bad spot.
- 1:44:48Speaker 9: Man.
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: They have a lot of injuries on defense.
- 1:44:50Speaker 9: Exactly well, what Will is saying is exactly the point, right,
- 1:44:52Speaker 9: that's the complimentary aspects. I think you know, it's it's
- 1:44:54Speaker 9: similar but the opposite of what we're just talking about.
- 1:44:56Speaker 9: With Dallas. You want to be a run heavy team.
- 1:44:59Speaker 9: With Lamar and Derek Henry and your scheme and whatnot,
- 1:45:02Speaker 9: you can be a run dominant team. But you better
- 1:45:04Speaker 9: not get into a bunch of shootouts. You better not
- 1:45:06Speaker 9: get into a bunch of playing from behind. Because the
- 1:45:09Speaker 9: only thing about the run game that keeps it in
- 1:45:11Speaker 9: line with the passing game is your ability to generate
- 1:45:14Speaker 9: explosive runs. Right, So, explosive runs are the biggest correlation
- 1:45:17Speaker 9: to scoring points. Rushing yards are irrelevant. Rushing yards unless
- 1:45:22Speaker 9: it's the fourth quarter with the lead and you're just
- 1:45:24Speaker 9: trying to convert fourth down first downs because you're playing
- 1:45:27Speaker 9: against the clock for the first three quarters of the game.
- 1:45:31Speaker 9: How many yards you rush for is completely irrelevant. What
- 1:45:35Speaker 9: are your chunk run plays? Because those chunk run plays
- 1:45:38Speaker 9: have the effectiveness of a pass play. That's where the
- 1:45:41Speaker 9: conversation between run and pass needs to be had. It's
- 1:45:44Speaker 9: the correlation between yards per play and scoring points. So
- 1:45:48Speaker 9: all of a sudden, now you're giving up forty and
- 1:45:51Speaker 9: all of a sudden, your defense can't stop anybody. They
- 1:45:53Speaker 9: can't get off the field. Teams are converting and scoring
- 1:45:55Speaker 9: field goals or touchdowns on such a high percentage of drives.
- 1:45:58Speaker 9: Every time your offense get it's back out there, you
- 1:46:00Speaker 9: start asking yourself if I can't generate the explosives because
- 1:46:04Speaker 9: they're playing me in high shells and they're putting an
- 1:46:06Speaker 9: umbrella over the top. I'm not gonna five and six
- 1:46:08Speaker 9: yard run you to death and think I'm gonna score
- 1:46:10Speaker 9: forty points. It's just not gonna happen. That's the issue
- 1:46:14Speaker 9: for these teams. And it's like, oh, they got to
- 1:46:16Speaker 9: run the ball more. Sure, they got to run the
- 1:46:18Speaker 9: ball more, but you better not give up forty right, Yeah,
- 1:46:21Speaker 9: ain't gonna win.
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: Right because that defense is absolutely struggling.
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: What have you got? Go ahead, No, say that's that's
- 1:46:28Speaker 5: the It's never in an isolated one side of the
- 1:46:31Speaker 5: ball that the two sides complimenting each other is the
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: name of the game.
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: Right Yeah, But just to push back a little bit,
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: like rush yards do matter in the sense of the
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: beginning of the game. You have to get to forty. Right,
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: So if you're early in the game, you're handling the
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: time of possession, you're running the ball, you're getting yourself
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: in thirty manageables, you're keeping your defense off the field.
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: So they're more fresh. You can keep games in closer,
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: tight in situations than getting blown out forty to three.
- 1:46:57Speaker 9: Yeah, So again, is the object to not get blown
- 1:46:59Speaker 9: out or is the object to win.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: Just to be in the game in the fourth quarter
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: when you're down right, but you need a defense.
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: It's got to stop those bleed like they're getting gash
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: on the run.
- 1:47:10Speaker 9: No, it's an interesting conversation about the run. Again, I'm
- 1:47:13Speaker 9: not I'm not an anti run guy. I believe quarterbacks
- 1:47:16Speaker 9: need to be under center. I believe that run game
- 1:47:18Speaker 9: under center. I think shotgun run in today's day and
- 1:47:21Speaker 9: age in the NFL is very hard. I think it's
- 1:47:22Speaker 9: hard on the lineman. I think under center play action
- 1:47:25Speaker 9: is the best time to throw. Like I'm an under
- 1:47:27Speaker 9: center NFL advocate, I think it's easier for the lineman.
- 1:47:32Speaker 9: I think it's easier for the quarterback. I think there's
- 1:47:34Speaker 9: more friendly throws. I think the run in the pass
- 1:47:36Speaker 9: game look the same. I think there's a lot of benefits.
- 1:47:38Speaker 9: I think that's why you're seeing so many of the
- 1:47:40Speaker 9: top offenses around the league do it. As far as
- 1:47:44Speaker 9: rush yards. If you tell me you rush for one
- 1:47:47Speaker 9: hundred and fifty yards, my first question is when did
- 1:47:49Speaker 9: those yards come? And how many rushes did you have?
- 1:47:53Speaker 9: If you rush for one hundred and fifty yards and
- 1:47:55Speaker 9: you ran the ball thirty five times on me, I
- 1:47:57Speaker 9: don't care. You probably didn't win unless I had two
- 1:47:59Speaker 9: p sixes and the game just got out of hand
- 1:48:02Speaker 9: and you just milk the lead in the second half.
- 1:48:04Speaker 9: Unique circumstances, But in just an offense versus offense, even
- 1:48:08Speaker 9: even possession game, take special teams pick six's punt returns,
- 1:48:12Speaker 9: those out those out of normal plays offense versus offense,
- 1:48:18Speaker 9: if you're not if you're not generating huge chunk plays
- 1:48:20Speaker 9: on the ground, the seventy yard Derek Henry runs, the
- 1:48:23Speaker 9: sixty yard Lamark Jackson scrambles and all that. If you're
- 1:48:26Speaker 9: just gonna run the ball at five yards a clip,
- 1:48:28Speaker 9: you can win the game. I'm not saying you can't,
- 1:48:31Speaker 9: but you're most likely not gonna win the game thirty
- 1:48:34Speaker 9: five to thirty.
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. But the only thing I'm saying is
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: if you're the Ravens and you're down this many guys
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: and you're you have six defensive starters out, in my mind,
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: it's like, hey, how do we get this hurt also
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: hurt offense to to help our defense out, and it's
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: keeping our defense off the field right, No, wear them
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: down over and over again. Get yourself in third and manageable.
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: Where the five yards of clip do we? Yeah, you're
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: not gonna The goal of that situation is not to
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: get the score the box score into the thirties for
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: both teams. It's to keep it in that you know,
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: twenty one to fourteen range showing you're the fourth quarter.
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: You're out man from a talent perspective, because you're out
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: your starters. You are now putting you in a position
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: to be like, hey, if a couple things go away,
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: we can win if we do have to throw the ball.
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: That's that's where I'm coming from.
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: I'm a bigger one.
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: I'm a bigger one in the ball.
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: But it makes a ton of sense. I get it.
- 1:49:22Speaker 9: I think the question becomes, are you confident enough that
- 1:49:26Speaker 9: you can go this slow it down methodical Probably ten
- 1:49:31Speaker 9: plays if you get the ball to minus thirty is
- 1:49:34Speaker 9: probably gonna take it eight to twelve plays to score.
- 1:49:36Speaker 9: In that type of approach, you better be eighty eighty
- 1:49:41Speaker 9: plus percent in the red zone. You better really be
- 1:49:43Speaker 9: willing to use fourth down and not settle for field goals. Like,
- 1:49:46Speaker 9: if you're going to commit to that style of game,
- 1:49:49Speaker 9: which which you're probably right, that's probably what Baltimore needs
- 1:49:52Speaker 9: to be right now to at least not get blown out.
- 1:49:56Speaker 9: But with that being said, you got to commit all
- 1:49:58Speaker 9: the way. There's no thirty four yard field goals on
- 1:50:01Speaker 9: fourth and four. You gotta go for it. If you're
- 1:50:03Speaker 9: gonna spend all that time methodically going down the field
- 1:50:06Speaker 9: and then it's just going to turn into a field
- 1:50:07Speaker 9: goal fest, you're probably not gonna lose forty to three.
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: You're probably gonna lose thirty to ten.
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, I agree, Like that is that better?
- 1:50:19Speaker 9: Like if they lost today twenty eight thirteen, do they
- 1:50:23Speaker 9: feel better?
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: Reybe Yeah.
- 1:50:26Speaker 9: I think their ego feels a little better. I don't
- 1:50:28Speaker 9: think they're any closer to being good.
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: And more it's like off of that, it's like, once
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: you go down two scores, it's like, let's get the
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: lifeboats out there in the water.
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: We gotta bail. We got to jump shit. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: what we wanted to do. You kind of need to.
- 1:50:42Speaker 9: I think the whole season looks different if they don't
- 1:50:44Speaker 9: blow those couple games early, right, like the Buffalo game.
- 1:50:47Speaker 9: That game's in the bag. You can't lose that game.
- 1:50:49Speaker 9: I think that was super deflating. What was the remind
- 1:50:53Speaker 9: me which game you mentioned it, Taylor? The fumble of
- 1:50:57Speaker 9: what was the other game they played?
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: Detroit?
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: They the Lions?
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: Yeah, Lions pulled away from them.
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: That's really it was.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: Chiefs pulled away from them, and there was one more
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: because they're one in four? Now, what is that game?
- 1:51:11Speaker 5: Fumbled? Three?
- 1:51:11Speaker 9: One?
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: Was the Buffalo? Yeah, maybe it was Detroit? Was Detroit?
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: No, Detroit. Detroit was kind of Detroit was in control
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: of that game. Who else did they lose? Billy? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: that was it. It's Bill. It was Bill.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: Bill's Detroit Chiefs and yeah he's.
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: Detroit Chiefs and Texans.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's.
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: Really Yeah, they're they're they're in a tough spot.
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: Yeah they should they should have two wins.
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: Did you get to watch the game of Denver and
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: Philly at all?
- 1:51:38Speaker 9: I saw the end on the box because he was
- 1:51:40Speaker 9: going on during ours, But so I saw I saw
- 1:51:44Speaker 9: the ending. I saw Philly took the lead. I saw
- 1:51:48Speaker 9: Denver took the lead, went for two. Yeah, to go
- 1:51:53Speaker 9: up by one, right yep. Then I saw they kicked
- 1:51:56Speaker 9: the field goal to go up four, but I didn't
- 1:51:58Speaker 9: see the final drive. Philly had the ball down four
- 1:52:02Speaker 9: at the end, right, yeah.
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: And honestly, Philly, Philly was in position. They were hitting
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: some you know, chunk plays to get down there quick,
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: whether they could have a good Hell marry or not.
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: And then they had a pass there at the very
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: end where very much was a defensive pass interference call
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: that they that the referees.
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: Did not call.
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: You never want to blame the refs. It's like, as
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: a team, you want to be in a better position anyway.
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: But it was a very spicy game at the end,
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: and I do think a very very failed job by
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: the referees not.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: Calling that defensive PI. I don't know if you caught
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: that part.
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: Was it on a it was?
- 1:52:32Speaker 9: How how far I saw the clip it? But how
- 1:52:34Speaker 9: far was the hail Mary? How far was the pass
- 1:52:37Speaker 9: on that it was?
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: They would have been, you know, inside the town. Yeah,
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: you would have been inside the ten looking at a
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: final play. You would have looked at a final place.
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: Where was the ball snapped from? What yard line?
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: A ball snap from like the forty their own forty seven,
- 1:52:50Speaker 3: I believe.
- 1:52:50Speaker 5: So it was almost like a hail Mary just didn't
- 1:52:52Speaker 5: get it to the end zone.
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: Right, wasn't it their own forty seven? Or maybe they
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: were in there, Maybe they.
- 1:52:56Speaker 9: Were in the I would love to know in the
- 1:52:58Speaker 9: history of hail Mary's how many pass interferences have ever
- 1:53:01Speaker 9: been caught.
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: But this wasn't a final play. This wasn't a hell
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: Mary final play. Like they were still trying to get
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: closer because they had maybe ten to thirteen seconds left
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: on the clock, so they were trying to get closer
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: so that they could have. Yeah, that way they could have,
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: because it was kind of to Goddard on the sideline
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: kind of goes back shoulder. DB's all over them, kind
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: of grabbing his pad. There's nothing they got called. So
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: then they did throw hell Mary, which, by the way,
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: they had a shot at that hell Mary. I think
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: if Devonte Smith and aj Brown aren't both having their
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: own frustrations on catching the ball, one of them just
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: lets the other one catch the ball and they win.
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: Because Aj they're kind of both going up for it,
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: AG's kind of tackling them as they're coming down. They
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: drop it. But yeah, man, they're just there. Seems there's
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: something happening in Philly because you look at it week.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: You look at AJ's presser after the game, where it's
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: like AJ kind of had a double move to where
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: there was there could have been a shot for him
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: to catch the ball if he continues to stay, you know,
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: accelerating and running through the route. It seems like he
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: slowed up for a moment, so the ball looks like
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: it's overthrown. They're talking to him after the game, He's like,
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: I have to look at it more, but I think
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: it was just a miss, right, And it's it's there's
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: something there, Bro, There's just something happening, and you can't
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: quite put your finger on it, but there is something there.
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: Because again it's like, say, Quanti only had six carries
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: that game. They're trying to win through there a little
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: bit more.
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: Yeah, they're hearing the noise of everybody's saying the twenty
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: ninth passing offense in the league. A. J. Brown's direct
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: quote was this, from my point of view, it was
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: just a miss. Now I saw the clip of the
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: double move, it did seem like AJ slowed down a
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: little bit. I did not watch AJ's pressure. I sat,
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: I came in here and they gave me this quote.
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: So I don't know what agent said before after that, but.
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: You can it was the vibe of AJ. He didn't
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: want to you know, the media knowing AJ.
- 1:54:45Speaker 2: Obviously he's frustrated, Obviously he wants the ball. He's a competitor,
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: that's all the things. But it just seems like the
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: Eagles are very fragile, regardless of what their record says
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: right now.
- 1:54:57Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, I think you know, it's so funny. You
- 1:55:01Speaker 9: would imagine that the teams that have had a ton
- 1:55:03Speaker 9: of success that everything's a little bit easier, right You'd
- 1:55:06Speaker 9: think their week days a practice are a little lighter
- 1:55:09Speaker 9: and they're a little less on eggshells versus, you know,
- 1:55:11Speaker 9: the teams that haven't gotten a win.
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: You know, you're the Jets and you.
- 1:55:14Speaker 9: Know the Titans looking for their first win and they
- 1:55:16Speaker 9: get it yesterday, And you would think that those teams
- 1:55:19Speaker 9: feel all the pressure, and that the teams that have
- 1:55:21Speaker 9: been to two Super Bowls have just won the most
- 1:55:23Speaker 9: recent Super Bowl and have been arguably the best team
- 1:55:25Speaker 9: you know, I have won before yesterday. What were they
- 1:55:27Speaker 9: like nineteen o the last twenty or twenty o their
- 1:55:29Speaker 9: last twenty one or something crazy like that. As far
- 1:55:32Speaker 9: as wins, it's actually funny in the NFL, like it
- 1:55:36Speaker 9: almost flips right, Like the more success you have, the
- 1:55:40Speaker 9: more scrutiny, the more people are trying to dissect every move.
- 1:55:43Speaker 9: You know, guys are looking to get theirs, you're losing coaches,
- 1:55:45Speaker 9: you're losing personnel, You're it almost becomes more difficult when
- 1:55:50Speaker 9: you've had that level of success. That's why you don't
- 1:55:52Speaker 9: see a lot of teams do what the Chiefs have done,
- 1:55:55Speaker 9: or what the Patriots did, or you know now what
- 1:55:57Speaker 9: the Eagles are trying to do. You just don't see
- 1:55:59Speaker 9: a lot of it in the NFL because the greatest
- 1:56:02Speaker 9: hindrance of future success is current success.
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: You're you're over.
- 1:56:06Speaker 9: You know, human nature is I've got I've had a
- 1:56:09Speaker 9: lot of success. I deserve more touches, I deserve a
- 1:56:12Speaker 9: better contract, I deserve these plays.
- 1:56:15Speaker 5: I'm not getting mine.
- 1:56:16Speaker 9: Like you're fighting that in the NFL every single day,
- 1:56:21Speaker 9: and it's hard, and I think they're getting a little
- 1:56:25Speaker 9: taste of it now. I think last year people didn't
- 1:56:28Speaker 9: think Philly would figure it out coming off the year
- 1:56:30Speaker 9: before when they fell apart into the season and then
- 1:56:32Speaker 9: they go on to win the Super Bowl. So I
- 1:56:34Speaker 9: think Sirianne shown he can galvanize the troops and kind
- 1:56:38Speaker 9: of keep things together. And I think there's a lot
- 1:56:41Speaker 9: of teams around the league that would love to say,
- 1:56:42Speaker 9: oh my god, Philly, what's their problem?
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: And you look in their four and one. Yeah, so
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: you bring up a good time.
- 1:56:48Speaker 9: Hugal Champ expectations. I don't think things are as bad.
- 1:56:53Speaker 9: Do I think they're perfect?
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: No?
- 1:56:54Speaker 5: Do I think there are four wins prior we're all great?
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: No?
- 1:56:58Speaker 9: Do I think things are as bad as maybe they're
- 1:57:00Speaker 9: being portrayed. I don't think I'm there yet.
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I would agree with you.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: But you also bring up good points about the Chiefs
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: and the Patriots because whenever the noise would get loud,
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: whether it's around losses or trying to find these little
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: cracks in the foundation, it was such a team culture
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: that there weren't a whole lot of the stuff that
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: we're kind of seeing with the Philly receivers and Jalen
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: Hurts to where you're kind of watching this Phillies team,
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: or you're kind of watching this Philly team and thinking like, Okay,
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: they there's that opportunity of can you be this Chief's
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: Patriots type culture where everybody's kind of galvanizing around you
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: know that it's not as bad, or are you going
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: to kind of is the noise going to continue to
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: creep in the locker room enough for some of this
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: you know, selfishness to kind of expose the team?
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:57:53Speaker 9: Yeah, I think it's a great point because what's funny
- 1:57:56Speaker 9: they remind me of a little bit of our Panthers
- 1:57:59Speaker 9: team that we had that year that you know, our
- 1:58:01Speaker 9: two year run there. We went to Super Bowl, we
- 1:58:02Speaker 9: went to some playoffs and had a good run. We
- 1:58:06Speaker 9: were we were I don't mean this as so, I
- 1:58:08Speaker 9: say this as a positive, Like we rode and depended
- 1:58:11Speaker 9: a lot off like emotion, right, there was a very
- 1:58:14Speaker 9: emotional team. There was a lot of energy, There was
- 1:58:16Speaker 9: a lot of there was a lot of personality. So
- 1:58:19Speaker 9: you look at so I kind of see a similar
- 1:58:21Speaker 9: situation with Philadelphia, and I think it works to their favor.
- 1:58:25Speaker 9: I think Sirianni is a highly you watch him on
- 1:58:27Speaker 9: the sideline, a lot of energy, a lot of emotion.
- 1:58:31Speaker 9: I think he wears it on his sleeve and and
- 1:58:33Speaker 9: I love him for it. I think Sirianni doesn't get
- 1:58:35Speaker 9: nearly enough credit the job that he's done with with
- 1:58:39Speaker 9: what they you know, the amount of turnover and coaches
- 1:58:41Speaker 9: and whatnot. But that's a separate conversation. I think personnel wise,
- 1:58:45Speaker 9: I think defensively, they got some very highly emotional guys.
- 1:58:48Speaker 5: I think Jalen Carter.
- 1:58:49Speaker 9: Is an absolute stud, loses his mind every once in
- 1:58:52Speaker 9: a while, personal fouls like I think that sort of
- 1:58:55Speaker 9: environment you when you're riding, it's a huge part of
- 1:58:59Speaker 9: their success. I think they ride that emotion. They play
- 1:59:02Speaker 9: so hard, they're physical, they're fast, they're young. I think
- 1:59:05Speaker 9: they've got a lot of guys that are, you know,
- 1:59:07Speaker 9: in their first couple of years in the league and
- 1:59:09Speaker 9: still figuring out like controlling their emotions and all that.
- 1:59:12Speaker 9: I think those new England teams and even now with
- 1:59:15Speaker 9: the Chiefs like a little older, a little bit more.
- 1:59:19Speaker 9: They don't ride the highs and the lows a little
- 1:59:21Speaker 9: bit mundane, little more boring press conferences. They don't really
- 1:59:24Speaker 9: give as much, like just a little bit of a
- 1:59:26Speaker 9: different style. And I think we've seen both styles work.
- 1:59:29Speaker 5: I think.
- 1:59:31Speaker 9: Right when things aren't perfect, sometimes that emotion can over
- 1:59:35Speaker 9: can kind of overflow and be seen differently. I think
- 1:59:38Speaker 9: when Sirianni's yelling at the stands and yelling and screaming
- 1:59:42Speaker 9: on the thing with Big Dom on the sideline and
- 1:59:43Speaker 9: they're winning super Bowls, it's like, man, I love that guy,
- 1:59:46Speaker 9: He's one of us. Yeah, But all of a sudden,
- 1:59:48Speaker 9: if it's in a game you lose, it's a distraction.
- 1:59:50Speaker 9: They're right, it's all viewed through the end result of
- 1:59:53Speaker 9: the game.
- 1:59:54Speaker 2: Isn't that wild? How you It is exactly what you
- 1:59:56Speaker 2: just said. Like, when things are going well, it's like,
- 1:59:58Speaker 2: look how cool and unique they are with their energy.
- 2:00:01Speaker 2: But as soon as they it goes the opposite way.
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: It's like, what a distraction out here? It was us
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: with Cam, Yeah, I mean that that's very Cam is
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: probably the perfect example of that, where he's doing the
- 2:00:12Speaker 2: Superman thing. He's dabbing on Avery Williams same women they played.
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: The Titans pissed me off a lot, But it's like, ah, yeah,
- 2:00:17Speaker 2: they they're bawling out and they're showing it. And then
- 2:00:20Speaker 2: once it like kind of throws a couple of picks.
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: Maybe you know things aren't.
- 2:00:23Speaker 7: Going to well?
- 2:00:24Speaker 2: Are they gonna walk away from him? Everyone's like, yeah,
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: the guy's been a distraction the whole time. It's so
- 2:00:28Speaker 2: weird how the NFL, whether it's the media of the fans,
- 2:00:31Speaker 2: will just recency biased on everything, which is well, Cam
- 2:00:35Speaker 2: definitely got the shortness stick.
- 2:00:37Speaker 9: Was everyone that you have to draw conclusion on it.
- 2:00:39Speaker 9: There has to be a there has to be a
- 2:00:41Speaker 9: cause and effect.
- 2:00:42Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:00:42Speaker 9: Right, when you're winning, it didn't matter what his dance was,
- 2:00:46Speaker 9: it didn't matter what the coach did on the sideline,
- 2:00:49Speaker 9: it didn't matter how you ran out.
- 2:00:51Speaker 5: Of the tunnel.
- 2:00:52Speaker 6: You won.
- 2:00:53Speaker 5: It was fun.
- 2:00:54Speaker 9: But all of a sudden, if you're not winning, the
- 2:00:56Speaker 9: effect is you lost. The cause is you're not focused
- 2:01:00Speaker 9: on the game. You're not folcus. You're too worried about this,
- 2:01:03Speaker 9: or you're too worried about your dance, you're too worried
- 2:01:05Speaker 9: about pregam none.
- 2:01:07Speaker 5: It's all meaningless, right, Like, it's all meaningless.
- 2:01:11Speaker 9: And I think the reality is it's just we live
- 2:01:13Speaker 9: in that environment where there has to be a reaction
- 2:01:16Speaker 9: to every action and we have to draw conclusion good
- 2:01:19Speaker 9: or bad after every single game.
- 2:01:22Speaker 5: And now the conclusion is going to be that the Eagles.
- 2:01:25Speaker 9: Are in a free fall. They're four and one, there
- 2:01:27Speaker 9: are gonna be the best team in football. They lost
- 2:01:29Speaker 9: a close one yesterday and they're gonna be fine.
- 2:01:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: Well, you talk, you talk about the steadiness of the
- 2:01:37Speaker 1: Chiefs and Patriots. I think now with the Eagles having
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: an opportunity to go whether it's back to back, kind
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: of have this this dynasty feel, we'll get to kind
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: of see if this energy, this highs and lows will
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: ultimately you know, win out in the marathon.
- 2:01:52Speaker 6: Right.
- 2:01:52Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, because we know that the version of the
- 2:01:55Speaker 3: Chiefs and Patriots that we saw whenever press conferences do
- 2:01:58Speaker 3: get boring, they find way to kind of handle the distractions.
- 2:02:03Speaker 3: We'll get to kind of see that.
- 2:02:04Speaker 2: I guess with the it'll be chea for the Chiefs
- 2:02:06Speaker 2: today too. I mean it's Monday right now. They're playing
- 2:02:08Speaker 2: the Jags on Monday.
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: Who you got, who you got Monday Night football? Jags Chiefs?
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: Because I like the Jags right here, Greggie, I'm telling
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: you right now, I like the Jags that can run
- 2:02:17Speaker 1: the football takeaways.
- 2:02:21Speaker 5: I'll tell you I don't disagree.
- 2:02:24Speaker 9: I'll tell you that that's a really if you would
- 2:02:26Speaker 9: have said when that schedule came out, if you would
- 2:02:28Speaker 9: have said, hey, Monday Night football is Jags Chiefs can't
- 2:02:31Speaker 9: wait for that game.
- 2:02:31Speaker 5: You'd be like, you're on drugs in what world. I'll
- 2:02:34Speaker 5: tell you what. I give a lot of credit.
- 2:02:36Speaker 9: I think Liam Cohen's done a nice job Trum Lawrence
- 2:02:38Speaker 9: playing ball. You know, big win, big controversy at the
- 2:02:42Speaker 9: end of that San Francisco game, Liam Cohen going after
- 2:02:45Speaker 9: h Robert Sala Sala saying he's complimenting the science. I'm
- 2:02:49Speaker 9: still not exactly sure what the whole point was of
- 2:02:53Speaker 9: that whole situation. I don't know if you guys probably
- 2:02:56Speaker 9: spend more time looking at it than I did. But
- 2:02:57Speaker 9: like he was saying, it was a compliment to steal,
- 2:02:59Speaker 9: I don't know exact rhyme a reason, but like Liam
- 2:03:02Speaker 9: Cohens say what you want, didn't get off to a
- 2:03:04Speaker 9: great start with the press conference to do vall and
- 2:03:07Speaker 9: tell you what, man, he's got Jacksonville significantly more relevant
- 2:03:11Speaker 9: at least through four weeks, than they've been a long time,
- 2:03:14Speaker 9: and I think he deserves a lot of credit. The
- 2:03:16Speaker 9: game tonight looks significantly different than it did four weeks ago.
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: Best part about this this week is it's like it's
- 2:03:24Speaker 2: a true measuring site where both teams are at are
- 2:03:27Speaker 2: the Chiefs after what they did against the Wavens because
- 2:03:29Speaker 2: is that a bad defense? Or is that the Chiefs
- 2:03:31Speaker 2: are back as they got XA if you're worthy and
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: the Jags who have been living in the shadows and
- 2:03:36Speaker 2: it was all Houston. But now we're looking at the
- 2:03:38Speaker 2: Colts being like, that's the team for the AFC South.
- 2:03:40Speaker 1: Are they gonna that's yeah, that's the exciting part about
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: all right, and the Chargers losing twenty seven to ten
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: against Washington, right, it's like, oh, the Chargers are kind
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: of tea the team to beat in the AFC West.
- 2:03:50Speaker 1: You see what Denver did out in Philadelphia. Chargers lose,
- 2:03:54Speaker 1: Chiefs are now in that spot where this is. This
- 2:03:56Speaker 1: is like a gut to have a game. And it's
- 2:03:58Speaker 1: still even if you look at Jacksonville, it's kind of
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: a you you gotta have because Houston's coming along now.
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: Colts are obviously seen as a very good football's.
- 2:04:06Speaker 2: Got their first win, so they could get spicy Augusta. Okay,
- 2:04:12Speaker 2: we I know we kind of brushed over Jackson Chiefs,
- 2:04:14Speaker 2: but I am going to move on.
- 2:04:15Speaker 3: And who does he like just what we can move.
- 2:04:19Speaker 5: I will never bet against Mahomes and Andy.
- 2:04:22Speaker 2: Reid minus three on the same way.
- 2:04:24Speaker 5: All right, I mean literally.
- 2:04:28Speaker 2: Against them being in your position? Can you bet? Are
- 2:04:31Speaker 2: you allowed to better?
- 2:04:32Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:04:32Speaker 5: I've never You want to hear I got one good
- 2:04:34Speaker 5: betting story. You want to hear it?
- 2:04:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I do.
- 2:04:36Speaker 9: I've bet one sporting event in my entire life. I
- 2:04:40Speaker 9: was on spring break, we were in the Bahamas, and
- 2:04:43Speaker 9: I went into the sports book and it was March
- 2:04:45Speaker 9: Madness girls and you know, the men's and women's, and
- 2:04:50Speaker 9: I was like, I've never done a parlay before. So
- 2:04:52Speaker 9: like I'm literally that guy who's standing at the sports
- 2:04:55Speaker 9: book and I'm looking and I'm like, all right, I'm
- 2:04:58Speaker 9: gonna do like a really elaborate parlay for like hundred dollars.
- 2:05:01Speaker 9: Well best it was, So I'm betting men's games, women's games,
- 2:05:07Speaker 9: and I think it was like a six game parlay,
- 2:05:09Speaker 9: four men's two women's. But it was the opening round,
- 2:05:14Speaker 9: so it was like, no, it was it was the
- 2:05:17Speaker 9: opening round for the women. So however that aligns with
- 2:05:19Speaker 9: the men's I'm not exactly sure, but anyway, I picked
- 2:05:21Speaker 9: my six games. But now I'm like vested in like
- 2:05:25Speaker 9: Creighton versus UNC Wilmington right, like you're watching games that
- 2:05:30Speaker 9: you don't even know what's going on. You're praying that
- 2:05:32Speaker 9: guys miss free throws. It's a very wild experience that
- 2:05:35Speaker 9: I had never done before. So long story short, I get,
- 2:05:39Speaker 9: I'm I'm five for five. It was like one hundred
- 2:05:41Speaker 9: dollars parlay. I was gonna win a couple thousand bucks.
- 2:05:45Speaker 9: I get to the last game and I picked Yukon
- 2:05:50Speaker 9: women or one of the one seeds. It was like
- 2:05:53Speaker 9: Yukon women. The spread was like fifty eight points are stupid,
- 2:05:59Speaker 9: and I'm like, they're going to cover. I'm now watching
- 2:06:03Speaker 9: a blowout of epic proportions between the one and a
- 2:06:06Speaker 9: sixteen and the women's March Madness Tournament.
- 2:06:10Speaker 5: It might not have been in Yukon.
- 2:06:11Speaker 9: It was one of the top seeds, South Carolina or
- 2:06:13Speaker 9: whoever it was.
- 2:06:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm down.
- 2:06:16Speaker 9: It's down to like the final possessions and the spread
- 2:06:18Speaker 9: was like fifty eight and a half and it's like
- 2:06:20Speaker 9: fifty six, fifty five, fifty eight, we're missing free throws.
- 2:06:24Speaker 5: I'm like foul.
- 2:06:27Speaker 9: I'm like yelling in this restaurant in the hotel, and
- 2:06:30Speaker 9: I think they ended up winning by like fifty five
- 2:06:34Speaker 9: and I didn't cover, and I like went to bed
- 2:06:37Speaker 9: beside myself, and my wife's.
- 2:06:39Speaker 5: Like, are you kidding me right now?
- 2:06:41Speaker 9: Like you're yelling at the TV and the third string
- 2:06:46Speaker 9: Yukon Girls or whoever it was, is up sixty on
- 2:06:49Speaker 9: a school you've never heard of before.
- 2:06:52Speaker 5: I'm like, you're right, yeah, you lost.
- 2:06:56Speaker 3: It was not one hundred. The problem, like, I don't know.
- 2:07:03Speaker 2: With you, that's every single week, and honestly, as much
- 2:07:06Speaker 2: parlays as we bet, we hope to be in your
- 2:07:08Speaker 2: position where you've hit five out of six and that
- 2:07:10Speaker 2: six one you're like, please for the love of God,
- 2:07:12Speaker 2: and you're right now.
- 2:07:14Speaker 9: Women's yeah, I'm yelling at the point guard from Missouri
- 2:07:19Speaker 9: Tech because she missed two back to back, one and one.
- 2:07:23Speaker 9: She missed the front end of a one on one
- 2:07:25Speaker 9: with eighteen seconds left.
- 2:07:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Doug, I feel that more than you, you know.
- 2:07:31Speaker 2: And also, if you're telling the story exactly like your
- 2:07:33Speaker 2: wife said, they're beating them by sixty, that's a good
- 2:07:35Speaker 2: point to be like, honey, if they beat them by sixty,
- 2:07:38Speaker 2: I would have hit so I'm talking about so yeah,
- 2:07:42Speaker 2: and I would have just gave you the money. I
- 2:07:44Speaker 2: just want to win the game. That's all I want
- 2:07:45Speaker 2: to do. You probably didn't watch it. It was around
- 2:07:49Speaker 2: the same time that you were calling the game. But
- 2:07:50Speaker 2: the Titans did beat the Cardinals. And the way the
- 2:07:53Speaker 2: Titans beat the Cardinals, I don't think I've ever seen
- 2:07:57Speaker 2: anything like that in my entire life. Never apologize, right in,
- 2:08:00Speaker 2: Never apologize for a win, Never apologize for a win.
- 2:08:03Speaker 2: But dropping the ball? When are we going to as
- 2:08:07Speaker 2: a coaching staff, for as a franchise, find guys their
- 2:08:10Speaker 2: entire salary for dropping the ball at the at the
- 2:08:14Speaker 2: one yard line? When when you wear like a forty
- 2:08:16Speaker 2: yard touchdown, I mean, at some point it's at a hand.
- 2:08:20Speaker 5: It's officially like an epidemic.
- 2:08:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's worse than COVID.
- 2:08:24Speaker 5: I feel like i've.
- 2:08:27Speaker 9: Nice maybe too soon, I saw never too soon, you know,
- 2:08:33Speaker 9: we see it. I feel like I've seen it more
- 2:08:35Speaker 9: in college. Seeing it in the NFL is even more jarring.
- 2:08:41Speaker 9: That you're six inches, maybe not even three inches from
- 2:08:46Speaker 9: being up twenty eight to six in the fourth quarter
- 2:08:49Speaker 9: against who at the time was in the conversation of
- 2:08:51Speaker 9: no offense, Taylor in the conversation of the worst.
- 2:08:53Speaker 2: Team in the league, none taking and the game completely flips.
- 2:08:58Speaker 9: You go from being up twenty eight to six, a
- 2:09:00Speaker 9: touchback twenty one six, they get it to twenty one twelve,
- 2:09:03Speaker 9: then you throw You then intercept the ball to proceed
- 2:09:07Speaker 9: to fumble it and have the ball kicked forward into
- 2:09:10Speaker 9: the end zone. Like the sequence of events that happened
- 2:09:15Speaker 9: for them to blow a twenty one six lead. It's
- 2:09:19Speaker 9: I made this joke this morning on Portnoy's show. I
- 2:09:21Speaker 9: was like, that's one of those where like if those
- 2:09:23Speaker 9: plays happen in Madden, you're smashing your.
- 2:09:26Speaker 2: Controller against the wall absolutely, you know, like.
- 2:09:28Speaker 9: You're just like this is such bullshit, like this would
- 2:09:31Speaker 9: never happen in a real game. And then you're like, Okay,
- 2:09:33Speaker 9: I guess it does, you know what I mean? Like,
- 2:09:36Speaker 9: it's I don't know how you get up this morning.
- 2:09:39Speaker 9: If you're Arizona and go into.
- 2:09:40Speaker 5: The role, that's gonna be a tough one to get past.
- 2:09:43Speaker 1: My old man, I know, is beside himself when he
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: was watching that, because he'd always teached me growing up.
- 2:09:48Speaker 1: He tell me to watch Walter Payton, Barry Sanders. You
- 2:09:50Speaker 1: run the ball into the end zone, you go hand
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: it to the referee.
- 2:09:54Speaker 2: If yeah, if you if you're the Cardinals, Like your
- 2:09:56Speaker 2: first meeting today is you one? You put Forrest Gump
- 2:10:01Speaker 2: on and you watch Forst Gump's kick return against Alabama.
- 2:10:05Speaker 2: How he just holds the ball high and tie all
- 2:10:07Speaker 2: the way up through the tunnel. Yeah, and they like,
- 2:10:09Speaker 2: this is how we score touchdowns From now on, I
- 2:10:12Speaker 2: want guys to elaborately run through the end zone holding
- 2:10:15Speaker 2: the ball the entire time, because it is I don't
- 2:10:18Speaker 2: know if it's coming back from that. I don't know
- 2:10:20Speaker 2: if you can come back from it.
- 2:10:20Speaker 9: It's all tied into the celebrations. Yeah, guys spend a
- 2:10:25Speaker 9: ton of time nowadays. And again I'm old school and
- 2:10:28Speaker 9: I'm boring, and I get it. Guys spend so much
- 2:10:32Speaker 9: time now during the week thinking through their celebrations that
- 2:10:36Speaker 9: they are so anxious when they're about to score because
- 2:10:39Speaker 9: their mind originally turns to like what I have planned that,
- 2:10:43Speaker 9: Like we can't even finish scoring the touchdown yet.
- 2:10:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it's disgusting.
- 2:10:49Speaker 5: Listen, you're never gonna get guys to stop doing that.
- 2:10:50Speaker 9: I know it's the NFL and like it's a different
- 2:10:53Speaker 9: generation than like what we all grew up playing.
- 2:10:55Speaker 5: So I respect that. I get it.
- 2:10:57Speaker 9: But like man, the second that stuff starts literally altering
- 2:11:01Speaker 9: the outcome of the games. As the coach, if you're
- 2:11:03Speaker 9: Jonathan Gannon, if you're any coach in the league, your
- 2:11:06Speaker 9: first eight am meeting on Wednesday, before you get into anything,
- 2:11:11Speaker 9: players of the game, recap, highlights, whatever, your Monday Wednesday
- 2:11:15Speaker 9: morning meeting is to start the new week.
- 2:11:17Speaker 5: If you don't flat out lay.
- 2:11:19Speaker 9: Down an ultimatum of like how we are going to
- 2:11:21Speaker 9: act scoring touchdowns and we are this is never going
- 2:11:24Speaker 9: to be our team doing this, that's a huge mistake.
- 2:11:27Speaker 9: It needs to be addressed daily because that's just unacceptable
- 2:11:33Speaker 9: in the NFL.
- 2:11:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's bad. I know we have to get you
- 2:11:36Speaker 2: out of here. We've kept you way too long. It's
- 2:11:38Speaker 2: almost inappropriate. But I do want to just touch this
- 2:11:40Speaker 2: real quick touch on Patriots Bills. Patriots were what eight
- 2:11:44Speaker 2: and a half dogs? Eight and a half point dogs.
- 2:11:48Speaker 2: We talked about on ESPN.
- 2:11:49Speaker 1: How a couple of us said, sitting here called it
- 2:11:52Speaker 1: a couple of us did a couple of us talked
- 2:11:54Speaker 1: about it.
- 2:11:56Speaker 5: A humble brag there. Taylor like, Hey, when we were
- 2:11:58Speaker 5: on ESPN, I.
- 2:11:59Speaker 2: Don't know if you guys know now I'm glad you
- 2:12:01Speaker 2: caught that a.
- 2:12:01Speaker 5: Really nice humble brag.
- 2:12:03Speaker 2: But I don't know if I don't know if you're
- 2:12:04Speaker 2: up between you know, eight and ten Eastern on Thursday mornings.
- 2:12:07Speaker 2: But you can catch the boys on ESPN if you like.
- 2:12:09Speaker 5: Oh, trust me boys, the Boys.
- 2:12:11Speaker 2: I got it all right.
- 2:12:13Speaker 5: I see the guys up there sitting at the desk
- 2:12:15Speaker 5: with all the big swinging dicks.
- 2:12:16Speaker 2: I see, yeah, yeah, hell yeah, Olofsky, Greeney, the whole thing.
- 2:12:19Speaker 2: But we did say Mike Rabel does a great job
- 2:12:22Speaker 2: of breaking down quarterbacks their tendencies and all that. They
- 2:12:25Speaker 2: get a couple of turnovers, a couple of things go
- 2:12:27Speaker 2: their way. They took advantage of bad football. Drake May
- 2:12:30Speaker 2: had us coming out part of the rest of league.
- 2:12:31Speaker 2: Every you know, the Colin Cowards, all the main guys
- 2:12:35Speaker 2: are like, Drake May need's a couple more years. It
- 2:12:37Speaker 2: seems like this is the game that we're like, oh,
- 2:12:39Speaker 2: Drake May's here now, like it's he's going to be
- 2:12:42Speaker 2: a quarterback that and you know we're gonna be talking
- 2:12:44Speaker 2: about is this guy generational talent?
- 2:12:48Speaker 9: Oh? I think he's a generational talent now, whether or
- 2:12:50Speaker 9: not he's going to be a generational superstar with Super
- 2:12:54Speaker 9: Bowls and all that. I don't think anybody could pretend
- 2:12:57Speaker 9: to know. But from a talent standpoint, he is exactly
- 2:13:00Speaker 9: what you want your modern day NFL quarterback to be.
- 2:13:03Speaker 9: He's a pocket quarterback who can run, will run both
- 2:13:07Speaker 9: designed and scramble, run and scramble pass. He's incredibly smart
- 2:13:11Speaker 9: and tough. That throw he made to Stefan Diggs, scramble
- 2:13:15Speaker 9: to his right on the run, guy in his face
- 2:13:17Speaker 9: puts the ball on the white Stefan Diggs obviously does
- 2:13:21Speaker 9: a great job dragging his feet, going down, hands, catch
- 2:13:23Speaker 9: through contact. The degree of difficulty of that throw. If
- 2:13:28Speaker 9: that ball's thrown two feet out in front, he's out
- 2:13:30Speaker 9: of bounds. If that ball's thrown two feet behind him,
- 2:13:32Speaker 9: it's a PBu for him to put that ball on
- 2:13:35Speaker 9: the front shoulder pad only where Stefan can catch it
- 2:13:38Speaker 9: low and away on the sideline to set up a touchdown.
- 2:13:42Speaker 9: Those plays, there's like three guys in the league maybe
- 2:13:44Speaker 9: that can make those throws. So I think from a talent,
- 2:13:47Speaker 9: from a mentality, from an approach, he's very mature.
- 2:13:50Speaker 5: He grew up in Charlotte. I've watched him play high
- 2:13:53Speaker 5: school basketball. I watched him.
- 2:13:54Speaker 9: He went to a public high school ten minutes up
- 2:13:56Speaker 9: the road from my house. He's been a stud of
- 2:13:59Speaker 9: a kid, and the repute in his reputation about just
- 2:14:03Speaker 9: who he is and the way he carries himself and
- 2:14:05Speaker 9: his maturity on top of just his physical skill set
- 2:14:09Speaker 9: has been well documented since he was young. Went to
- 2:14:13Speaker 9: North Carolina. Probably didn't get the love in the college
- 2:14:16Speaker 9: football scene. If he played at Ohio State, or he
- 2:14:19Speaker 9: played at Texas or he played somewhere else, probably would
- 2:14:22Speaker 9: have been a more buzzed about player, but obviously drafted
- 2:14:25Speaker 9: where he was. He's a flat out stud. Huge win
- 2:14:29Speaker 9: for Vabel. I still think Buffalo is good, but uh, listen,
- 2:14:33Speaker 9: it was the perfect storm. Your quarterback played his ass off.
- 2:14:36Speaker 9: The Bills made a couple of mistakes to keep you
- 2:14:38Speaker 9: in the game. You needed to keep it somewhat load
- 2:14:41Speaker 9: in the middle of the road scoring and they found
- 2:14:44Speaker 9: a way at the end. You make a long kick
- 2:14:45Speaker 9: like that's the recipe to pull off upsets. Every box
- 2:14:49Speaker 9: they checked, and Drake may is probably the biggest box because.
- 2:14:52Speaker 5: He was incredible.
- 2:14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Greg, you were the man, bro. Thank you for
- 2:14:55Speaker 1: thank you for taking your time.
- 2:14:57Speaker 3: Bro. Yeah, we're hanging with the boys.
- 2:14:59Speaker 5: I could talk with you guys all day here hanging
- 2:15:01Speaker 5: with the boys. I just wish I was in the bus, I.
- 2:15:04Speaker 1: Cause I got to see the whole vlog stuff, collabing
- 2:15:06Speaker 1: on posts with Bus and so all of it was
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: kind of coming across my timeline. I absolutely love it.
- 2:15:12Speaker 1: I eat it up. I love when it's like you
- 2:15:14Speaker 1: needed all your boys that look at you. You're like,
- 2:15:16Speaker 1: look at me, like look at all your teammates, like
- 2:15:19Speaker 1: we need I need all of your best on this play.
- 2:15:22Speaker 1: I am obsessed with it. I love it. Bro keep
- 2:15:24Speaker 1: having fun and doing what you're doing. You seem like
- 2:15:26Speaker 1: a grinder, having a travel everywhere, call games, you're doing shows.
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: You're trying to coach an undefeated football team right now.
- 2:15:32Speaker 1: But you're the man, and thank you for taking your time.
- 2:15:34Speaker 2: Bus and Productions will be will be giving you a
