- 0:00Speaker 1: Coach will ask for an opening statement that will take
- 0:02Speaker 1: questions for the players.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:03Speaker 3: First off, you know, I want to you know, thank
- 0:06Speaker 3: the players you know, on our team and the staffy.
- 0:08Speaker 3: They they were amazing this year and it was an awesome,
- 0:12Speaker 3: awesome journey and as much fun as I've ever had
- 0:14Speaker 3: coaching coaching basketball. And secondly, you know, I want to
- 0:19Speaker 3: give credit to Michigan. I mean, they were outstanding tonight
- 0:22Speaker 3: and you know, really had us on our heels all
- 0:25Speaker 3: night and when we can never get into a rhythm
- 0:27Speaker 3: and you know, so so they get a ton of
- 0:29Speaker 3: credit for that. No one's kind of been able to
- 0:31Speaker 3: do that to us all year, and so it is
- 0:33Speaker 3: an impressive performance by them.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Thank you, coach. If you have a question for Jayden
- 0:37Speaker 1: Braden or co up, please raise your hands. We'll send
- 0:40Speaker 1: a microphone attendant in your direction right and take one
- 0:43Speaker 1: right up front.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah, salt book.
- 0:48Speaker 4: When Pah and X sports Jayden, you know, obviously you
- 0:50Speaker 4: got in early foul trouble and it seems to just
- 0:52Speaker 4: kind of disrupt a lot of things. You know, I
- 0:54Speaker 4: know there might be a little bit of frustration in
- 0:56Speaker 4: terms of picking up four fouls so early into the
- 0:59Speaker 4: second half. You know, can you explain how you felt
- 1:01Speaker 4: and how you were trying to, you know, help the
- 1:04Speaker 4: team overcome that during that that little run.
- 1:06Speaker 5: For sure, I definitely wanted to be out during my guys,
- 1:08Speaker 5: but like you said, early followed trouble. You know, they
- 1:12Speaker 5: just did a great job of putting me in ball
- 1:13Speaker 5: screens and we're just trying to cheer my guys on,
- 1:16Speaker 5: you know, on the bench. You know, we got talented freshmen,
- 1:18Speaker 5: other talented players, but you know, Michigan just did a
- 1:21Speaker 5: great job and we weren't able to kind of catch
- 1:23Speaker 5: up and uh t tie it up.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Genuary with questions for the Arizona players up front on
- 1:29Speaker 1: the right.
- 1:30Speaker 6: Chris Brown, Easy Band, cat Sports, Jayden, how do you
- 1:34Speaker 6: just reflect on your time in Arizona and just what
- 1:37Speaker 6: the city of Tucson and the Arizona basketball community means
- 1:40Speaker 6: to you.
- 1:41Speaker 7: It means a lot.
- 1:42Speaker 5: You know, I appreciate coach Lloyd and you know, and
- 1:44Speaker 5: the staff for taking me in and giving me a
- 1:46Speaker 5: i'd like to say, like a fresh start. You know,
- 1:48Speaker 5: I appreciate this team. You know, we accomplished a lot
- 1:51Speaker 5: this year. You know, we definitely wanted to win this game,
- 1:55Speaker 5: but you know, Michigan, you know, was a better team tonight.
- 1:57Speaker 5: I appreciate Tucson, do you know, loved his group and
- 2:01Speaker 5: chairs to you the last couple gatherings behalf together before
- 2:05Speaker 5: everybody go their own ways. But just happy to be
- 2:07Speaker 5: a part of you know, this this team.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Up front on the left.
- 2:11Speaker 8: Side, Michelle Gardner, Arizona Republic. Coaches talked about figure it out,
- 2:18Speaker 8: and we saw the Purdue game. You were down, you
- 2:20Speaker 8: came out in the second half and steamrolled them, and
- 2:23Speaker 8: you've been able to figure it out. Can you talk
- 2:25Speaker 8: about what it was like in the locker room at
- 2:27Speaker 8: halftime for this game and what made.
- 2:29Speaker 1: It different well as code to take that and then Brayden.
- 2:34Speaker 7: I mean, I just think it just wasn't our day. Honestly.
- 2:39Speaker 9: A lot of shots went in and out, you know,
- 2:41Speaker 9: a halftime you know, coach told us the same thing,
- 2:44Speaker 9: you know, you know, just to stay together, go out there,
- 2:48Speaker 9: you know, play our brand of basketball, and you know,
- 2:50Speaker 9: I'm just proud of the guys and we fought then
- 2:53Speaker 9: to come out on top. But you know, I'm just
- 2:55Speaker 9: I'm just super thankful for these guys. I love these
- 2:57Speaker 9: guys and I cherished every moment you know, we had
- 3:00Speaker 9: together and just it's truly grateful for everybody.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Bradon, same question to you, what was the message at halftime?
- 3:06Speaker 10: Not definitely. The halftime speech was the same. You know,
- 3:09Speaker 10: no matter how much we was down by, it was
- 3:10Speaker 10: the same. You know, Coach Murph came in. You know,
- 3:12Speaker 10: I told each other, everybody get up, dap each other up.
- 3:15Speaker 10: You know, we watched the clips and then you know,
- 3:17Speaker 10: coach Lloyd came in, gave us the pep talk we needed,
- 3:19Speaker 10: and then you know we went out there. We just
- 3:22Speaker 10: couldn't get it done. You know, Michigan, they were making
- 3:24Speaker 10: a lot of shots. They played great, you know, and
- 3:27Speaker 10: you know, I'm just thankful though, for the experience I
- 3:29Speaker 10: had with these guys, man very blessed.
- 3:32Speaker 7: Learned a lot about Nolly myself. But he's one another.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Next question, second row center.
- 3:39Speaker 11: David Brady and with camp student Radio Brandon. The team
- 3:42Speaker 11: had fourteen turnovers below forty percent from the field. What
- 3:46Speaker 11: did Michigan do defensively to really aggravate the offense.
- 3:50Speaker 7: They had a great defensive plan.
- 3:52Speaker 10: You know, they're pretty bigger, but I feel like most
- 3:56Speaker 10: of our shots was just like in and out, Like
- 3:58Speaker 10: it was in the in the rim and then out,
- 4:00Speaker 10: you know, and sometimes it's just not your day, and
- 4:03Speaker 10: just today just wasn't our day.
- 4:04Speaker 7: Honestly.
- 4:06Speaker 1: In the back of the room on the left side,
- 4:07Speaker 1: Myron is up against the column.
- 4:09Speaker 7: Yeah, my MACAVESPN for CoA.
- 4:12Speaker 4: What kind of challenges a guy like a Daimar present
- 4:15Speaker 4: with just his size and agility?
- 4:19Speaker 9: Uh? Yeah, Now, I was just a good player, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 9: really unique. You know, he had a really good game tonight,
- 4:25Speaker 9: So you know, props to them.
- 4:29Speaker 1: We have a few more minutes for questions for Arizona
- 4:31Speaker 1: student athletes. If they're a any we'll come back up front.
- 4:36Speaker 1: We can start on this side.
- 4:40Speaker 6: Chris Brown, Azy bancat Sports for CoA. Obviously you've been
- 4:44Speaker 6: called mister Arizona all season. You know the objective, the
- 4:48Speaker 6: goal was to win a national championship. But just how
- 4:50Speaker 6: proud are you to be able to represent your home
- 4:53Speaker 6: state on this stage and bring Arizona back to its
- 4:55Speaker 6: first final four and twenty five years.
- 4:59Speaker 7: Yeah, it means everything to me.
- 5:00Speaker 9: Uh, you know, being in kim from Arizona, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 9: putting on this jersey, having an Arizona across my chest.
- 5:06Speaker 9: You know, like I said at the beginning of the season,
- 5:08Speaker 9: when I put Arizona across my chest, I'm gonna go
- 5:10Speaker 9: one hundred and ten percent every game and leave no regrets.
- 5:13Speaker 9: So I'm just really thankful for the brand and the
- 5:15Speaker 9: program for everything they did for me, and you know,
- 5:17Speaker 9: these teammates right here, you know, just I'm just super
- 5:20Speaker 9: blessed and it was a special year, and I'm just
- 5:22Speaker 9: really thankful for everybody in Tucson.
- 5:24Speaker 1: For sure, run a black microphone. We're going to the
- 5:26Speaker 1: second row.
- 5:28Speaker 12: So Hazio richardson the Wildcat. Tommy, what's the biggest message
- 5:34Speaker 12: that you want to send to the players here?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Questions for the players right now, Sorry for you guys.
- 5:41Speaker 12: What's the biggest takeaway? But also your favorite moment from
- 5:44Speaker 12: this season?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Well that's Braden to take that and also Jade.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Uh my favorite moment.
- 5:51Speaker 10: Honestly, I couldn't even pick, but it honestly would be
- 5:53Speaker 10: just being around the guys, probably just in locker room
- 5:56Speaker 10: are just like practice, you know, just going to compete
- 5:58Speaker 10: against one another, and I just felt like being around
- 6:01Speaker 10: the guys honestly is just like it's unexplained to her,
- 6:04Speaker 10: like it's just a blessing.
- 6:09Speaker 5: I would say, just bonding off the court. I feel
- 6:12Speaker 5: like we really get to figure your teammates out, know
- 6:15Speaker 5: what they like, meet their families, just something stuff beyond basketball,
- 6:20Speaker 5: and I feel like it brings you closer on the court.
- 6:22Speaker 5: And I feel like we did did a lot of
- 6:23Speaker 5: stuff like that this year.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Final question for the Arizona Student Netflix.
- 6:27Speaker 7: Yeah, co so pH X Sports.
- 6:30Speaker 4: You know, this is the first time in at least
- 6:32Speaker 4: four years that you've ended the season on the loss.
- 6:34Speaker 4: How can you take this experience and moving forward, whether
- 6:36Speaker 4: it's other Arizona or beyond.
- 6:39Speaker 9: H yeah, I mean, uh, it's tough for me to
- 6:43Speaker 9: process this right now. You know, I really haven't fully
- 6:45Speaker 9: processed it, but uh, yeah, I just.
- 6:48Speaker 7: Learned from it, you know.
- 6:49Speaker 9: Uh, you know you're not gonna be perfect every night,
- 6:52Speaker 9: but just knowing that, you know, I gave this team
- 6:54Speaker 9: all I had I could be. I can put my
- 6:56Speaker 9: head on the pillow at night and be able to sleep.
- 6:58Speaker 9: So yeah, just super thankful. And you know these two
- 7:02Speaker 9: right here, I love these guys and you know they
- 7:04Speaker 9: we don't have a relationship for the rest of our lives.
- 7:06Speaker 9: And Coach too, you know, Coach brought me in and
- 7:08Speaker 9: I can't thank coach enough for how.
- 7:10Speaker 7: Much he you know, trusted me and believed me.
- 7:12Speaker 9: And I'm just really thankful for him, and you know,
- 7:14Speaker 9: this program and everybody honestly.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Well and we're thankful as well for co Ed Jaden
- 7:18Speaker 1: and Brayden. Thank you guys for your time. They're going
- 7:20Speaker 1: to head back to the Arizona locker room. Congratulations guys
- 7:23Speaker 1: on an outstanding season and your run to the final four.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Arizona locker rooms open until twelve thirty three. First question
- 7:35Speaker 1: for coach Lloyd. We'll go up front on the right side.
- 7:39Speaker 13: Jornyaman does at USA today, Coach, A lot of people
- 7:42Speaker 13: had hype in this game as like almost like a
- 7:43Speaker 13: national championship, feel two heavyweights that we're going against each
- 7:46Speaker 13: other for a possible classic game. Seeing how the game
- 7:50Speaker 13: Michigan just came out took over from right off the bat,
- 7:53Speaker 13: do you feel like this game just said a lot
- 7:55Speaker 13: more about how strong and dominant Michigan is or do
- 7:58Speaker 13: you feel like it just wasn't your knight.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I mean, listen, Michigan gets all the credit today, you know,
- 8:05Speaker 3: whether I mean it wasn't our night. Probably had to
- 8:08Speaker 3: do a lot with them and they were just impressive.
- 8:10Speaker 3: They were impressive how they came out and executed their
- 8:13Speaker 3: game plan and you know, and and you know, we got,
- 8:16Speaker 3: you know, down a little bit. And we've been down
- 8:18Speaker 3: a few times this year, but not not like that.
- 8:20Speaker 3: And we just probably got a little panicky and we
- 8:23Speaker 3: weren't able to settle back in and uh and they
- 8:25Speaker 3: get credit. I mean, that's why if you can get
- 8:27Speaker 3: off to a good start in games, you know, it's
- 8:30Speaker 3: usually pretty impactful.
- 8:32Speaker 2: And that definitely was the case today.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Run though White microphone were going left to Dan.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Hey, Tommy, Dan walking down? Who supports you?
- 8:40Speaker 13: Your guys had played and won a lot of tough games,
- 8:43Speaker 13: down to the wire games.
- 8:45Speaker 3: When you get to a final four, especially with a
- 8:47Speaker 3: team with so many young guys, you know.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Does all that experience matter? Does it go out the window?
- 8:52Speaker 2: You know?
- 8:53Speaker 3: I mean I don't know, you know, I mean I
- 8:56Speaker 3: don't think it was inexperiencing today. I mean, we had
- 8:58Speaker 3: we had a good couple of days of pre we
- 9:00Speaker 3: had a good shoot around today. I think we just
- 9:02Speaker 3: came out. We played a team that that was really
- 9:04Speaker 3: well built. They have a great coach, and they were
- 9:08Speaker 3: able to take control of the game.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And then and then really, I mean.
- 9:13Speaker 3: They were like surgical, you know at a point, and
- 9:16Speaker 3: so that that's hard to do. So so they get
- 9:18Speaker 3: a ton of credit. And like you said, you know,
- 9:20Speaker 3: we we we've had.
- 9:21Speaker 2: A great year.
- 9:23Speaker 3: And but if even if you're a great team and
- 9:25Speaker 3: you can't get in a rhythm, it's gonna be a
- 9:26Speaker 3: tough night.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And that's what we felt.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Tonight, Third Rowse Center. We're on the black microphone.
- 9:32Speaker 14: Hi, Audi do Us of CBS Sports Dusty said he
- 9:36Speaker 14: described your team as Gonzaga on steroids. Did you review
- 9:40Speaker 14: the Michigan Gonzaga game as a key part of your
- 9:42Speaker 14: prep and what does it say about Michigan that they
- 9:46Speaker 14: were able.
- 9:47Speaker 3: To Yeah, for sure, I mean they we obviously we
- 9:50Speaker 3: looked at that and you know, they did that to
- 9:52Speaker 3: a few other people, not just Gonzaga this year, and
- 9:54Speaker 3: this game could have went that way. You know this
- 9:56Speaker 3: obviously they they have they have the kryptonite right now,
- 10:00Speaker 3: you know. So that's gonna be a fun thing for
- 10:01Speaker 3: me to try to figure out this offseason. You know,
- 10:04Speaker 3: they just did it a great job. And then their
- 10:06Speaker 3: their size really impacted the game. I felt that, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 3: I see, they only have Mara down for two blocks.
- 10:11Speaker 3: There's no way I could think of three that he tipped,
- 10:14Speaker 3: you know what I mean, just right up right off
- 10:16Speaker 3: the top of my head. And uh, you know, I
- 10:18Speaker 3: think they're one of those teams, you know, I would say,
- 10:21Speaker 3: like Houston's like that, or even like Iowa States like that.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Teams you play, you have to play them a few times,
- 10:27Speaker 3: and after you kind of get used to playing them
- 10:28Speaker 3: a few times, you you get more comfortable. I mean,
- 10:30Speaker 3: I think that's probably why you saw more closer games
- 10:33Speaker 3: in the Big Twelve and the Big Ten for them
- 10:35Speaker 3: towards the end, you know, because Team's probably got comfortable
- 10:37Speaker 3: playing him and had had a better plan. And uh,
- 10:40Speaker 3: you know, I mean that's I wish we had another
- 10:42Speaker 3: crack at it, but we don't, and and so so
- 10:44Speaker 3: that they get a ton of credit and and and
- 10:47Speaker 3: obviously you know that they're down to two teams left
- 10:51Speaker 3: and they got to you know, they got a good
- 10:52Speaker 3: chance to win. But you know, listen, I don't think
- 10:55Speaker 3: anybody's gonna count you can out, you know. I mean,
- 10:57Speaker 3: so so that's why when everybody was saying this is
- 10:59Speaker 3: the National championship game, it's not the National Championship game,
- 11:03Speaker 3: Monday nights the National championship game, and you have to
- 11:05Speaker 3: fight to get there. So so yeah, so credit to
- 11:08Speaker 3: Michigan a really impressive tonight.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Coach. We're going to the web side durd the back
- 11:14Speaker 1: gentleman from Westwood One, Josh Graham, Westwood won sports coach.
- 11:18Speaker 11: How do you measure the disappointment of tonight with what
- 11:23Speaker 11: your team achieved to get to this stage.
- 11:26Speaker 3: It'll probably take a little time, you know, you know,
- 11:30Speaker 3: we we uh, you know, I knew we could do
- 11:34Speaker 3: this this year, you know, and and I and I
- 11:36Speaker 3: thought we had a chance to win this four team tournament.
- 11:38Speaker 3: But obviously Michigan had other thoughts today. So you know,
- 11:43Speaker 3: I'm sure we'll get back home and take a breath.
- 11:44Speaker 3: But but I know myself, you know, you know, no
- 11:49Speaker 3: loss at the end of the season feels great, but
- 11:52Speaker 3: I also think it can be a great learning tool.
- 11:54Speaker 3: So you know, we're gonna, you know, take a breath,
- 11:57Speaker 3: you know, probably try to figure out what our roster
- 11:59Speaker 3: looks like next year. And like I've always said, in
- 12:02Speaker 3: this business, as a coach, you got to be tough
- 12:03Speaker 3: enough to take disappointment and show back up. And we're
- 12:07Speaker 3: going to show back up and you know, and we're
- 12:10Speaker 3: gonna try to do this again, but see if we can.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Do it a little bit better.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Coach on the right side in.
- 12:14Speaker 15: The back, Jason Sheer walkout authority. Would you reflect on Jaden,
- 12:21Speaker 15: Bradley and Toby and the seniors? Obviously this is a
- 12:24Speaker 15: tough way to go out, but what stands out just
- 12:27Speaker 15: about their careers in general what.
- 12:28Speaker 7: They did for the program.
- 12:29Speaker 3: They're just didn't They were just an incredible young men.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Uh not just really good basketbayers, just a great young men.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I mean, we never had one issue with either one
- 12:38Speaker 3: of those guys. They they showed up every day, they played,
- 12:42Speaker 3: when they were a little banged up.
- 12:43Speaker 2: They they put in the work. They were great teammates.
- 12:48Speaker 3: You know, they did an amazing job of helping us
- 12:51Speaker 3: kind of continue to build, you know, our culture and
- 12:54Speaker 3: kind of raise the standards of the program. So I'll
- 12:57Speaker 3: always be thankful for those guys. I mean, I wish
- 13:01Speaker 3: there was a fifth year of eligibility, you know, I
- 13:04Speaker 3: don't know, I guess I saw there there was one,
- 13:05Speaker 3: but who knows what will happen with that. But I
- 13:08Speaker 3: wish I could coach those guys again because they're they're awesome,
- 13:11Speaker 3: awesome young.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Men, coach upfront center, Chris Brown, easy bandcat Sports.
- 13:18Speaker 6: Obviously historic season. Just what's the message to Tucson and
- 13:22Speaker 6: after the best season in arguably twenty five years?
- 13:26Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 13:27Speaker 3: I mean thank you, I mean, you know, thank them
- 13:29Speaker 3: for everything. And obviously we're disappointed we weren't able to
- 13:32Speaker 3: get over get it over the top for them. But
- 13:35Speaker 3: I think we all saw what's possible again. And so
- 13:38Speaker 3: now let's all roll up our sleeves and support each
- 13:41Speaker 3: other and uh and and and see if we can
- 13:45Speaker 3: and make this a normal thing.
- 13:46Speaker 2: You know that that would be awesome for me.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I mean, I know, you know, you sit around and
- 13:52Speaker 3: you know you dream as a coach or you think
- 13:54Speaker 3: you know, and in these narratives in the media, all
- 13:56Speaker 3: get created that you can't be in the big one
- 13:58Speaker 3: and whatever you get upset in the tournament. Well, you know,
- 14:05Speaker 3: I thought one day, I'm like, man, I can't wait
- 14:07Speaker 3: to we get to a final four because I knew
- 14:08Speaker 3: he would, But can't wait till we get there, just
- 14:12Speaker 3: so you know, I can maybe just coach and don't
- 14:15Speaker 3: have to worry about any of these your guys's narratives
- 14:18Speaker 3: or anything. But then the first thing that popped in
- 14:20Speaker 3: my head was like one final four, Why don't we
- 14:23Speaker 3: go five times in ten years?
- 14:25Speaker 2: I mean, that's what my mind's at.
- 14:27Speaker 3: You know, I'm going to do it day by day,
- 14:29Speaker 3: but but that's my big dream. I mean, who knows,
- 14:33Speaker 3: maybe maybe you guys will use me use that against
- 14:35Speaker 3: me saying that someday. But but I'm gonna dream big
- 14:38Speaker 3: and I'm gonna work my ass off to try to
- 14:40Speaker 3: make it happen.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Goach, we'd love to have you. We're gonna do with
- 14:42Speaker 1: final closing up on the left.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Coach David Kelly, Wildcats Radio, twelve ninety What were they
- 14:48Speaker 3: doing in that first half to turn you guys over
- 14:50Speaker 3: the way they did? They just did a great job
- 14:52Speaker 3: being in the gaps. You know, they were kind of
- 14:53Speaker 3: mixing up there, you know, whether they're going over and
- 14:56Speaker 3: under ball screens, and our guys just we didn't do
- 14:58Speaker 3: a great job adjusting the level of.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Our screen and so we weren't getting the edge.
- 15:02Speaker 3: And then they you know, we got had a few
- 15:04Speaker 3: guys over penetrate, you know, and then uh and they
- 15:07Speaker 3: were you know that they're scrappy and they they're handsy
- 15:10Speaker 3: and they got their hands on some balls, and uh,
- 15:12Speaker 3: you know, I mean that was kind of the first thing.
- 15:14Speaker 3: And then you know, I felt like there was you know,

- 15:40Speaker 3: knows how to control the game. And and and you know,
- 15:43Speaker 3: when you're controlling the game and you're running your actions
- 15:45Speaker 3: and you're getting some open shots or semi open shots
- 15:48Speaker 3: and you knock them down, it makes it really tough
- 15:51Speaker 3: to come back.
