Latest / Brandon Fogal Evolution / #119 - The First American Pope | Creator Debate with Tucker & Weinstein
Transcript
- 0:00Robert Francis Provost is the new pope elected by the Catholic Church.
- 0:07He will be taking the name Pope Leo XIV.
- 0:11This is big news. This is big news. I was very interested this whole time as
- 0:16this was leading up to the buildup.
- 0:18I was excited about it. I'm happy for the Catholic Church. I'm happy for all
- 0:23Christians. And I'm very excited
- 0:25to see what he is going to do for the Catholic Church going forward.
- 0:30My name is Brandon Fogle. This is Evolution. Let's dive into this.
- 0:35And we are also going to talk about a sit down that Tucker Carlson had with Brett Weinstein.
- 0:41And it was very good. It was very good. They didn't delve into as many topics as I'd like.
- 0:47Brett Weinstein, he is very thoughtful in everything he says.
- 0:51But they didn't go across every possible nook and cranny of what you could cover
- 0:58and sit down together with Tucker Carlson.
- 1:01Tucker seared the conversation and everything they went through,
- 1:04but we'll get into that in a second. I just wanted to say a few things about the new Pope.
- 1:08This is, I don't know if you could say this is Peter the Roman.
- 1:12There was a little bit build up and I did a video the other week talking about
- 1:17the whole prophecy about St.
- 1:19Malachi saying, Peter the Roman that's coming.
- 1:23Is that prophecy bunk? Because this guy's name is not Peter.
- 1:27And even the name he took on as the new Pope doesn't even have Peter in the name.
- 1:33But maybe it just goes with the position he has.
- 1:37I am not a Catholic, but I highly respect the Catholic church.
- 1:41And honestly, I have wanted to become a Catholic at times in my life.
- 1:46I love everything about it. There's so much in there that just draws me to it.
- 1:51But there are things that I don't completely agree with. And it's tough.
- 1:58When you have a family and your family's not Catholic, it's tough to,
- 2:03that's a complete shift in switch and all that.
- 2:06So I appreciate when people do, you know, switch from one denomination to another
- 2:12or go into the Catholic church.
- 2:14That's not just switching one denomination to another.
- 2:17That's just, that's completely a way of life change for your family.
- 2:21That's why I have said, I wish, and I hope that this Pope will bring down all
- 2:27the lines in Christianity, true Christianity, true Christianity.
- 2:32Bring down all the barriers because Jesus said, I pray that my followers will
- 2:37be one just as the father and Jesus are one.
- 2:43He prayed that for all the believers in Christ.
- 2:46And I don't know why we are 2000
- 2:48years and it seems like we are getting fractured more and more and more.
- 2:53You could say there's issues that we disagree on.
- 2:57But put aside what color carpet you want in a church. Why can't we have these discussions in-house?
- 3:04Why does it have to be Protestant, Orthodox, Catholic?
- 3:08Can there be a coming together?
- 3:11And I don't know if this pope could do something like that. What your thoughts are on that?
- 3:15I would be very interested to hear. Is that a possibility? Is that even a good thing?
- 3:20To me, I think Jesus has one church. There's one invisible church in the world
- 3:27and his people will always be his people, you know, so why can't we come together?
- 3:32You know, there's the visible and invisible church and maybe they just got to grow up together.
- 3:36And that's just a part of the deal. But if he, if this new Pope could do something
- 3:40like that, I, I would very much love that.
- 3:44But switching gears and talking about Tucker Carlson and Brett Weinstein and
- 3:48their sit down together, it was, it was good. Like I said, they didn't go into
- 3:52everything, but Brett, he does, he talks a lot more thoughtful and they're not
- 3:57just debating going back and forth.
- 3:58And he doesn't even seem like a person that debates.
- 4:01Carl Tucker was more, he sends his zingers and sends things about,
- 4:06because Tucker stands on the side of there is a God, there is a creator.
- 4:10Brett stands on the side that we are all, we are evolved species and he does
- 4:16not rule out the possibility of the creator, but he makes it seem like you cannot know.
- 4:21And something that he did say in the sit down that popped out to me was his
- 4:28view on Jesus, the little bit that they talked about Jesus in the gospels.
- 4:32He said, I really don't know too much about it.
- 4:35I'm not a biblical scholar, so I don't know too much about it.
- 4:39For anybody that's out there, whatever you think of Jesus.
- 4:44He is the most well-known person in human history, so it would be a good idea
- 4:48to look into him and find out what this guy said and did and all that, you know?
- 4:55I mean, all the religions, whatever they are, you know, they all point to him.
- 5:00Even Islam, looking back and just regarding him as a prophet.
- 5:04All of them speak highly of him.
- 5:06So it would be a good idea to find out what this man did and said,
- 5:10because I know in Tucker and Brett, they went back and forth of,
- 5:14because Tucker seemed like he, like there can be evolution in the whole design
- 5:18of God that can fit into the paradigm that we find ourselves in.
- 5:23God could have used evolution to bring all this about.
- 5:26And I mean, I'm still open to that. I'm still looking to that,
- 5:29but I have yet to find any good evidence, strong evidence for real Darwinism.
- 5:35I'm, I'm really, I'm wanting to find out. I want to see it.
- 5:40I want, and I, I, people tell me just keep reading, keep looking.
- 5:43And I am, and I'm open to that.
- 5:46But Brett, he goes into this long, like his, he gives a long lengthy output
- 5:52of what he believes of how everything came about and how intricately everything
- 5:57is woven together and there's design.
- 5:59And he almost fits in a religion that is just a part of the spot that we are
- 6:06in the evolution kind of time frame.
- 6:08But when he goes through it, he goes through it so precisely and lays everything
- 6:12out. Tucker just like, he's like.
- 6:15But there has to be intent for it all. You know, it comes down to whether there's intent or not.
- 6:20And he's like, you just made an incredible case for God, but you don't believe
- 6:25in him. But you're describing a system with a goal.
- 6:27I am describing a system with a goal, not with intent. Yeah,
- 6:31the system has a goal. The goal is the intent, right?
- 6:34The intent is to achieve the goal. Well, that is the sticking point.
- 6:39I mean, this doesn't make any sense. No, no, it makes a lot of sense.
- 6:43It makes a lot of sense. It doesn't make any sense without, I don't want to
- 6:45use the phrase intelligent design, but like.
- 6:47Well, let's take a parallel example.
- 6:50Okay. We can trip over the parallel example. I just think you've made an amazing case for God.
- 6:54And I don't know if you thought of yourself as an evangelist. No, no.
- 6:57You just convinced me. I've made a very compelling case for belief in God.
- 7:03Well, but what's the other explanation?
- 7:06Well, that's just the thing. is the other explanation is that there are processes that function.
- 7:15Let's take two examples, okay? All right.
- 7:18Going through everything he went through, and he laid it out really clearly,
- 7:22articulately, and it just made sense, everything he said.
- 7:27But he never gave an explanation of why.
- 7:30Say you throw out there being a creator.
- 7:33How did this actually happen? And like, why did this actually happen?
- 7:39And I thought it just fundamentally does not make sense without God,
- 7:44no matter how much you talk about it. But he's he's very humble.
- 7:48And he says, I don't know.
- 7:51He's not on the atheist position, and he, so he's kind of in this,
- 7:55like, this middle ground.
- 7:56He's not the atheist, and he's trying to speak on their behalf,
- 8:00but he's also trying to understand the theist position, and it just doesn't make sense.
- 8:06It doesn't make sense at all when you really dive into it, and I.
- 8:10Without there being a creator, we could talk about how things have,
- 8:15what we think happened in history, but even that is still faith. It's still faith.
- 8:21You're still taking it on someone's authority and what they've told you.
- 8:25You're still taking it on that. As opposed to you just look outside.
- 8:30You know, there's a God. You just look inside your own self.
- 8:34You know, there's a God because we have this moral where we know there's things
- 8:39that we should do that we don't do. We feel bad about things.
- 8:43And if you don't feel bad, even an atheist would probably say that you're a
- 8:47sociopath. So we all know that we have God's fingerprint written on our hearts. We know he's there.
- 8:53But him going through this whole diatribe of everything about God and everything
- 8:58about evolution and how this is here, he describes the how, but without intent
- 9:04and without the why, none of it makes sense.
- 9:10All of evolution points to a goal. There's becoming more and more,
- 9:14you know, survival of the fittest. Even if that's true, it still seems like there's design.
- 9:21Someone wound up the watch and threw it out there. And that's kind of like the deist position.
- 9:25Whether you think they're a God, he's just really not involved.
- 9:28But I cannot at all understand how somebody could not think there's a God or
- 9:34believe that there's a God or know that there's a God.
- 9:36The biblical argument is we all do know there's a God, but we suppress it.
- 9:41We always know he's there, but we're constantly just putting up guards because
- 9:47we're living in a fallen world.
- 9:50We are constantly running from God.
- 9:53Whatever we're doing, we're running from him, you know?
- 9:56And I'm still very open to learning about evolution and how this could have
- 10:02come about, but I still am not seeing strong evidence for it.
- 10:05And I'm very open to it. But Tucker's on the side that like he almost assumed that evolution,
- 10:10evolutionism is a thing, you know, and Darwinism is a thing,
- 10:14but it, but there's still God who kind of threw everything into place and made everything happen.
- 10:21I just wanted to quickly touch on also that they jumped onto AI and all that went into that.
- 10:26That was another very strong point of the sit down they had together and whether
- 10:30AI will eventually acquire consciousness and that AI is going to have consciousness
- 10:38and we're not going to be aware of it.
- 10:40Man, the more that I'm learning about the Nephilim and the giants of old and
- 10:46aliens, you know, that they are a true possibility and they're not just a demonic
- 10:52activity, but there might be something else out there.
- 10:55It just seems like so many things are happening. And we're like,
- 10:58it feels like on the precipice of nuclear war happening with Pakistan and India.
- 11:06There's so many things that are just coalescing and escalating.
- 11:10I mean, I used to think Jesus could not be coming back for at least,
- 11:14you know, a hundred more years or a thousand more years, but I keep going back and forth like, is he?
- 11:21Is he about to come back? Because things are just getting crazy in so many different ways.
- 11:27And I, I mean, you go back to a thousand years. I mean, they were just wondering
- 11:31if their corn's going to come up, if they were going to be able to grow some
- 11:34wheat to be able to survive.
- 11:36And now we got AI about to get, have consciousness.
- 11:40People, kings, you know, dictators, presidents have the opportunity,
- 11:46have their hand over nuclear codes that could send off bombs into the air at any moment.
- 11:53And we got all this technology and it's just so many wild things are happening.
- 11:57I can't even express like it's a crazy time to be alive. I don't know if it's
- 12:01a good time to be alive, but it's certainly a crazy one.
