- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello to Day, I'll be reading from business sources in
- 0:03Lexington and Louisville, including The Lane Report and others from
- 0:06around the Commonwealth. The reader to day is Julia Shane.
- 0:11As a reminder, RADIOI is a reading service intended for
- 0:14people who are blind or who have other disabilities that
- 0:17make it difficult to read printed material. Our first article
- 0:21comes from the January thirteenth, twenty twenty six edition of
- 0:23The Lane Report and is titled Protecting Crop Insurance Among
- 0:28Kentucky Farm Bureaus State and National Priority for twenty twenty six.
- 0:34Kentucky Farm Bureau k f B has announced its twenty
- 0:37twenty six national and state policy priorities following the conclusion
- 0:42of its one hundred sixth annual meeting. These priorities, developed
- 0:47by k f B members and approved by the k
- 0:50f B Board of Directors, will guide the organization's advocacy
- 0:54efforts at both the federal and state levels throughout the
- 0:57twenty twenty six legislative sessions. At the national level, Kentucky
- 1:02Farm Bureaus twenty twenty six priorities focus on protecting crop insurance,
- 1:07expanding water resources for irrigation and livestock, and ensuring fair
- 1:12and open trade. KFB will advocate for improvements to transportation infrastructure,
- 1:18including rural highways and waterways, regulatory reform grounded in sound
- 1:23science and meaningful immigration and farm labor reforms to strengthen
- 1:29the H two A program. Additional priorities include increased domestic
- 1:34fuel and fertilizer production, incentives for sustainable aviation fuel using
- 1:39domestic agricultural feedstocks, federal tax policies that protect family farms,
- 1:45healthcare reforms, and stronger wildlife depredation protections for producers. At
- 1:51the state level, kfb's twenty twenty six priorities emphasized continued
- 1:56investment in agriculture programs and services, including funding for the
- 2:02Agricultural Development Board, soil and water conservation, and a well
- 2:06supported Kentucky Department of Agriculture. KFB will also advocate for
- 2:11policies that protect farm land and existing tax exemptions for
- 2:15production agriculture, sustain rural road funding, require decommissioning bonds for
- 2:21commercial solo projects, Expand broadband and rural economic development strength
- 2:27and wildlife management. Increase transparency for eminent domain proceedings, and
- 2:33support forestry initiatives that benefit woodland owners and rural communities.
- 2:38The next article from the Lane Report is titled Nearly
- 2:41eleven million free meals served to Kentucky kids During the
- 2:45summer of twenty twenty five, summer meal for kids were
- 2:49available in all one hundred twenty Kentucky counties for the
- 2:53first time ever. No kid hungary Kentucky. The Kentucky Department
- 2:58of Education KDE and Feeding Kentucky have unveiled new data
- 3:03showing that for the first time in history, free summer
- 3:06meals for kids were available in all one hundred twenty
- 3:09counties of the state. Between May and August of twenty
- 3:13twenty five, almost eleven million free summer meals were served
- 3:17to Kentucky's children at meal sites throughout the commonwealth, up
- 3:21from eight point one million in the summer of twenty
- 3:24twenty four and five point three million in the summer
- 3:27of twenty twenty three. A major contributor to the expanding
- 3:31reach of summer meal programs across the Commonwealth is the
- 3:35widespread availability of sun Meals to Go, a grab and
- 3:39go option which allows rural families the flexibility to pick
- 3:43up multiple days worth of meals to eat off site
- 3:46or at home. Local school districts and community organizations serving
- 3:51as program sponsors in one hundred thirteen of Kentucky's one
- 3:55hundred twenty counties served over nine point one million sun
- 3:59Meals to go during the summer of twenty twenty five,
- 4:02representing eighty three percent of all summer meals served in
- 4:05the state. Children who depend on school lunch and breakfast
- 4:10can now access healthy summer meals in every Kentucky county,
- 4:14said Kathy Gallagher, Summer Food Service Program Manager, Kentucky Department
- 4:19of Education. My staff and I are honored to help
- 4:22many school districts and other organizations close the hunger gap
- 4:26so that children are supported. This helps ensure that kids
- 4:30return to school healthy and ready to learn at the
- 4:33end of the summer. Long Standing gaps in local access
- 4:37to US Department of Agriculture summer meal programs in Caldwell
- 4:42and Green Counties were closed in twenty twenty five when
- 4:45Caldwell County Schools and Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland Food Bank
- 4:50became summer meal sponsors. No Kid Hungary, KADE and the
- 4:56Kentucky Kids Eat program of Feeding Kentucky invided support to
- 5:01these partners in their expansion and delivery of much needed
- 5:04sun meals to go service and rural communities. Public libraries
- 5:09played pivotal roles in summer meal availability and as many
- 5:13as a third of Kentucky counties. The Lawrence County Public
- 5:17Library returned as a sponsor, and many other libraries also
- 5:21served as meal sites. Public libraries in Green and Casey Counties,
- 5:26in particular, where no summer meals were available in twenty
- 5:29twenty four, played key roles in closing gaps for summer
- 5:33meal service in twenty twenty five. Without access to school meals,
- 5:38summer can be the hungriest time of year for kids
- 5:40across the commonwealth. Closing the gap in local access to
- 5:44summer meals among Kentucky's counties is a perfect example of
- 5:48how local school districts, community organizations such as food banks
- 5:52and public libraries are Kentucky Department of Education and anti
- 5:57hunger organizations like Feeding Kentucky and No Kid Hungry can
- 6:02work together to reduce food and security when school is
- 6:05out of session, said John Kin, Kentucky Kid's e Program director,
- 6:11Feeding Kentucky and co manager No Kid Hungry Kentucky. The
- 6:16next article from the Lame report is titled Bluegrass Community
- 6:20and Technical College Awarded one point one four million dollar
- 6:24federal grant to expand workforce credential pathways. Bluegrass Community and
- 6:30Technical College BCTC has been awarded one point one four
- 6:35million dollars through the US Department of Educations Fund for
- 6:39the Improvement of post Secondary Education as part of a
- 6:43nationwide one hundred sixty nine million dollar investment announced this
- 6:47week to strengthen innovation and workforce alignment in higher education.
- 6:53The grant is a part of a new round of
- 6:54awards aligned with program priorities established by the U S
- 6:59Department of Education in November, including initiatives that expand high quality,
- 7:04short term credential programs, enhance teaching and learning through emerging technologies,
- 7:10and build institutional capacity to meet workforce needs. Eighteen of
- 7:15the selected recipients are community colleges or two year systems,
- 7:20underscoring the critical role of these institutions play in workforce development.
- 7:26BCTC is the sole recipient in Kentucky. Through this award,
- 7:31the college will partner with local health care providers, local
- 7:34emergency Services, and the Kentucky Workforce Agency to launch and
- 7:39expand credential pathways in emergency medical services, EMT, commercial drivers licenses,
- 7:46CDL and allied health fields. The initiative is designed to
- 7:51serve at least one hundred and fifty students annually by
- 7:54its fourth year, directly addressing regional workforce shortages and high
- 7:58demand sectors. This award is a tremendous honour for Bluegrass
- 8:03Community and Technical College and for the Commonwealth of Kentucky,
- 8:07said doctor Greg Feeney, President and CEO of BCTC. We
- 8:12are proud to be recognized for our commitment to building
- 8:15strong and responsive workforce pathways. This investment affirms the vital
- 8:20role community colleges play in preparing students for in demand
- 8:24careers while supporting the economic vitality of our state. The
- 8:29funding will support the development of accelerated industry aligned credential programs,
- 8:34expanded partnerships with employers and public agencies, and enhanced student
- 8:40support to ensure access, completion, and job placement. This grant
- 8:45allows us to deepen our collaboration with healthcare and public
- 8:49safety partners while creating clear, efficient pathways into essential careers,
- 8:54said doctor Patriccio Meness, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health
- 8:59at BCTCAS. We plan to use these funds to expand
- 9:03program capacity, strengthen hands on training, and ensure students earn
- 9:07credentials that lead directly to employment and allied health, emergency services,
- 9:13and related fields. Ultimately, this investment will help meet critical
- 9:17workforce needs while improving access to quality education for our students.
- 9:23The award further advances bctc's mission to provide accessible, high
- 9:28quality education that connects learning to meaningful careers and supports
- 9:34Kentucky's long term workforce and economic development goals. The next
- 9:39article from the Lane Report is titled Hodgson files Legislation
- 9:43to establish the Kentucky Emergency Volunteer Core. State Representative John
- 9:49Hodgson of Fisherville recently filed HB sixty one legislation that
- 9:54would establish the Kentucky Emergency Volunteer k EV Corp, a
- 9:59user all volunteer, unarmed adjunct to the Kentucky National Guard
- 10:04that reports to the local emergency management coordinators in emergency
- 10:08situations such as floods, tornadoes, storms, and earthquakes. The rash
- 10:14of severe weather disasters in recent years has strained disaster
- 10:18response resources and budgets in Kentucky. Hutchens said k EV
- 10:24Corps could supply volunteer and help train to FEMA standards
- 10:29and ready to deploy on short notice in emergencies. The
- 10:33keV Corps will be able to assist and provide additional
- 10:36help in the event of local emergency situations. This program
- 10:41will serve as a volunteer opportunity for thousands, including retired military,
- 10:46Bluegrass Challenge graduates and Scout Program graduates. The k EV
- 10:52Corps members will be trained in unit discipline, FEMA standards,
- 10:57and other basic emergency qualifications. Each local government will decide
- 11:02if they want to participate, and units and volunteers will
- 11:05only be deployed outside the county with consent. The k
- 11:10EV Corps will be funded via donations and grants, as
- 11:13well as state appropriations and federal funds. Many Kentuckians are
- 11:18interested in helping their communities in a crisis, and k
- 11:21e V Corps provides a standardized way to organize, train,
- 11:26and deploy volunteers. Hotchin said. Young volunteers also benefit from
- 11:31the unit camaraderie and discipline, plus technical and physical training
- 11:36that may help get them ready for a higher commitment
- 11:38role in the Guard or US military in the future.
- 11:42The next article comes from the January seventh, twenty twenty
- 11:46sixth edition of Business Lexington and is titled Built to Last,
- 11:51written by Dan Dixon. When Leninger Cabinet and Woodworking l
- 11:57c W opened its doors in nineteen fifty one, it
- 12:00began as a modest Kentucky woodworking shop located in a
- 12:05home and later in a garage. Now nearly seventy five
- 12:09years later, the company remains a cornerstone custom made cabinetry
- 12:13and architectural mill work built to last for customers across
- 12:17Kentucky and the country. The original shop, located in the
- 12:21Forbes Road area of Lexington, was operated by Bob Linninger,
- 12:26a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technologies School for
- 12:30American Craftsmen in Upstate New York in nineteen fifty one.
- 12:35Cabinetry was often mass produced or built by small time
- 12:39carpenters with limited scope, but Bob envisioned something more and different,
- 12:44finally made custom cabinetry and mill work that blended artistry
- 12:49and function. His early customers were mostly Lexington area homeowners,
- 12:54but as his reputation grew, so did the demand for
- 12:58his work. In the scale of his project, people will
- 13:01still brag that they have Lenninger cabinets in their homes,
- 13:04and that is a big pat on the back for us,
- 13:07said John Lenninger, Bob's son and the current president of
- 13:11the company. Obviously, I'm proud of it all. Not many
- 13:15second generation businesses make it to seventy five years. I
- 13:19am fortunate because we have had incredible people over the years.
- 13:23The secret is finding the right people in keeping them.
- 13:26In the early years, LCW created many mid century modern
- 13:30furniture designs, including kitchen cabinetry, built in shelving bars, stereo
- 13:37cabinets and more. Bob worked at home for several years,
- 13:41but soon outgrew the space and purchased nearby lots and
- 13:44buildings to grow and continue his attention to detail, quality
- 13:48of finish, and reliability. John, a University of Kentucky graduate,
- 13:54decided to follow his father's path. He traveled to the
- 13:57Berkshire Mountains of western massachuse Us to study with famed
- 14:02English cabinet maker Ian Kirby. He returned to Lexington and
- 14:06in nineteen eighty began to assume management of his father's business.
- 14:11John and his brother Jim concentrated on modernizing the business.
- 14:16The brothers focused on getting us computerized. Recalls Nancy Lacy,
- 14:20Lenninger's vice president and a Jill of all trades for
- 14:24the company for the past thirty seven years. The main
- 14:28thing they did was developed stronger accounting, estimating practices and
- 14:32cost systems. They expanded into a larger production shop and
- 14:36began doing more commercial work with plastic laminate finishes. The
- 14:41company also invested in modern fabrication and finishing technologies, which
- 14:46helped with precision and consistency. Today, Lenninger still uses a
- 14:51variety of wood, veneers and hardwood in its projects, as
- 14:54well as plastic laminates. About ninety five percent of today's
- 14:58business is commercial. ELCW collaborates with architects, designers, business owners, homeowners,
- 15:06and medical, educational and athletic facilities. The company is able
- 15:10to produce cabinetry and mill work tailored to a wide
- 15:13variety of commercial needs. ELCW has overseen many installations in
- 15:18the medical community. For example, it has completed extensive work
- 15:23for Saint Joseph Hospital and Baptist Health Hospital. We do
- 15:27quite a bit of plastic laminate casework, exam rooms, nurses stations,
- 15:32blood draw rooms, break rooms and more anywhere they may
- 15:37need cabinets. Lacey said. The really fine woodworking would go
- 15:41into a hospital's meeting rooms or an auditorium, or into
- 15:45a CEO's office. Lininger installed cabinetry as part of a
- 15:49major renovation at Bahalla Golf Club in Louisville. Teams worked
- 15:54with various contractors to prep it for the twenty twenty
- 15:58four PGA Championship. That job had miles of wood working
- 16:02in it, including a big, extensive bar, Lacey said. Speaking
- 16:07of bars, Leninger has left its mark on many in
- 16:10the region, such as a signature look for downtown Lexington
- 16:13bar and restaurant ital X. Leninger has also worked for Keenland,
- 16:19a property rich in history, and several distilleries, which often
- 16:23outfit their tasting rooms in rich wood finishes. Occasionally, Leninger
- 16:28travels out of state for a job, such as to Indiana, Ohio,
- 16:33South Carolina, or West Virginia, where it performed work for
- 16:37the Greenbrier. Modern collegiate and professional sports locker rooms are
- 16:42quite elaborate, and Leninger seeks out those new build and
- 16:45renovation assignments. There is an absolute need out there for
- 16:49custom sports locker rooms, said Lacy. We are always willing
- 16:53to take on that kind of work. University of Kentucky
- 16:56Athletics has used Lenninger numerous times. Other sports related work
- 17:01included a new locker room for the Buffalo Sabres, a
- 17:05National Hockey League team. Lenninger belongs to the Architectural Woodwork
- 17:10Institute AWY, the national leader in setting benchmarks for woodworking excellence.
- 17:17Lacey notes that Lenninger's membership requires adherence to rigorous quality standards.
- 17:22Bob and John Lenninger were highly active members of AWY
- 17:26and developed a vast network of outstanding woodworkers to draw
- 17:30upon for help with certain projects. She said, there are
- 17:33several Leninger family members left, but for now, no one
- 17:37wishes to take over the business. We would love to
- 17:40continue the Lenninger name, but no matter what, we are
- 17:43excited to keep this business going forward, said Lacey. Although
- 17:48he has retained the title of president, John Lenninger has
- 17:51stepped away from most day to day company activities, relying
- 17:55on Lacey's expertise. We have a good customer base and
- 17:58things are running well. Leninger I feel lucky. I would
- 18:02do it all again. The next article comes from the
- 18:06January eleventh, twenty twenty sixth edition of Here Lexington and
- 18:10is titled why millions are ditching Netflix and Disney Plus
- 18:15for this seventy dollars TV loophole device written by Michael Grant.
- 18:21For years, streaming felt like freedom. We cut the cable,
- 18:24we ripped out the cable bill. We thought we were
- 18:27done with bundles, hidden fees and boxy channel packaging. Then
- 18:32streaming happened Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime Video, HBO, Max, Hulu, Peacock, ESPN,
- 18:40Apple TV Plus and so on. Suddenly the freedom we
- 18:44praised turned into dozens of monthly charges. Cancel one service
- 18:48and half of your shows vanish keep them all, and
- 18:52you've quietly restored the old one hundred twenty dollars to
- 18:55two hundred dollars monthly bill now spread across apps. Used
- 19:00to pay once for cable, now you pay hundreds for
- 19:03several subscriptions. And after all that money, content is still scattered, GEO,
- 19:08blocked and controlled by corporations that decide what you get
- 19:12to watch and wear. That's why more and more people
- 19:15aren't just cutting back, they're escaping the system entirely. A
- 19:19tiny stick called Moxie Player is quietly spreading across the US,
- 19:24letting users access thousands of channels, movies live sports and shows,
- 19:30including titles found on paid platforms without subscribing to a
- 19:34single monthly service. People report the ability to pull up
- 19:38things from Netflix, rediscover shows that live behind Disney Plus walls,
- 19:43and browse movie catalogs from Prime or HBO. All you
- 19:48have to do is plug Moxie player in, and your
- 19:50TV becomes a fully unlocked entertainment hub. Meet Jonas, the
- 19:55engineer who cracked the TV system. Jonas isn't a Silicon
- 19:59vacklly founder or billionaire. He's an engineer, a frequent traveler,
- 20:04and someone who loves movies, and like most of us,
- 20:08he got tired of paying for streaming subscriptions that delivered
- 20:11less and costs more. His breaking point came while traveling
- 20:15for work. Despite paying for multiple streaming services, every hotel
- 20:20or rental blocked access to the content he had already
- 20:23paid for. Abs didn't work, shows were restricted by region,
- 20:27and even downloaded files refused to play. I paid for Netflix,
- 20:32Disney Plus, Prime, So why am I still not allowed
- 20:35to watch what I've already paid for? That frustration sparked
- 20:38an idea. If entertainment companies could lock customers out, maybe
- 20:43he could build a device that unlocked content freedom. So
- 20:47over the next two years, Jonas used nights and weekends
- 20:50to develop a portable TV stick that restored full access
- 20:54to content on your terms. At first, he didn't even
- 20:57plan to sell it. He built it for hims and
- 21:00quietly used it on trips in hotels, airbnbs, and friends homes,
- 21:06and every time it worked flawlessly. But then friends noticed
- 21:10and wanted one. Soon strangers online were messaging him to
- 21:14get their hands on it. Then influencers discovered it, travel
- 21:18communities started sharing it. What began as a private solution
- 21:23spread by word of mouth. Today, moxie Player is in
- 21:26use in over twenty countries and demand continues to surge
- 21:30because once you experience TV without restrictions or costly monthly bills,
- 21:35there's no going back. This is the TV loophole they
- 21:39don't want you to know about. Streaming platforms sell convenience.
- 21:43What they deliver are invisible walls, locked apps, paywalls, region blockers,
- 21:49and menus built to push you toward other monthly renewals.
- 21:53The moxie Player TV stick breaks that model. Unlike streaming
- 21:57boxes that lock you into a store or service, Moxiplayer
- 22:02operates independently. It hands control back to the viewer, giving
- 22:06you direct access to entertainment without corporate filters, limitations, or
- 22:11monthly payments. With Moxiplayer, you decide what plays on your TV.
- 22:16And here's what that actually means in real life. It
- 22:20instantly turns ANYTV into a fully featured smart TV. Access
- 22:25to hundreds of TV channels and networks, free streaming apps,
- 22:28and open content platforms. Watch movies and shows normally found
- 22:33on paid services without paying, live global TV channels including sports,
- 22:39Mirror your phone and cast anything on your device. Watch
- 22:43downloaded media and offline content. Browse the Internet, YouTube, email,
- 22:49and more, built in games and apps for extra entertainment.
- 22:53In seconds, a subscription locked TV becomes open and unlimited,
- 22:58no permissions, no no monthly traps, no blocked content, the
- 23:03way TV should be. Any TV with an HDMI port
- 23:07supports it, and users everywhere are confirming the same thing.
- 23:11They're watching content they used to watch on Netflix, Disney Plus,
- 23:15Prime Video and HBO without paying a single dollar. Here's
- 23:19how to use it. Setting up the Moxiplayer TV stick
- 23:23is extremely simple. In fact, anyone can do it in
- 23:26under a minute, even without tech experience. There are no
- 23:30complicated menus, installers, or extra devices. That's all. It takes.
- 23:35No accounts, no logins, no subscriptions, no set of headaches.
- 23:39As long as your TV has an HDMI port, which
- 23:42ANYTV made after two thousand and three does, Moxiplayer immediately
- 23:47upgrades it to fully unlocked entertainment hub. And because it's
- 23:51pocket sized, you can unplug it and take it anywhere hotels, rentals,
- 23:56friends' houses, even while traveling. The entire entertainment setup fits
- 24:01in your pocket. People call moxie Player a subscription killer
- 24:05loophole because it breaks the cycle and returns control back
- 24:09to viewers. What makes this TV stick different? People assume
- 24:14smart TVs and streaming boxes give them access to everything.
- 24:18The truth is they often act as gatekeepers, deciding which
- 24:22apps you can use, which content is available in enforcing
- 24:26regional limits. Worst of all, most interfaces are designed to
- 24:30steer you into paid subscriptions. Moxie Player does the exact opposite.
- 24:36Instead of locking down your TV and telling you to
- 24:38subscribe to streaming services, it unlocks it completely and gives
- 24:42you full control over what you watch and how you
- 24:45watch it. Full app freedom. You can install and access
- 24:50any app or streaming source. You want. No company decides
- 24:54what's allowed and what's not. No subscription needed. Watch movies, shows,
- 24:59live teare and sports without recurring fees. Users say it
- 25:04can access content from Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime, HBO and
- 25:09more subscription services without any additional or monthly costs. Fast,
- 25:15clean interface. Instead of being stuffed with preloaded apps, ads, banners,
- 25:21and bloated menus that slow everything down, Moxiplayer runs on
- 25:25a clean, optimized interface designed only for content access. Pocket
- 25:31sized and portable. The whole entertainment set up easily fits
- 25:35in your pocket, letting you take it anywhere you go vacations, hotels, airbnbs, RVs,
- 25:42and friends' houses. Works on any HDMI TV, OLDTV, new
- 25:48TV doesn't matter. Moxiplayer upgrades any TV instantly with no
- 25:52need to buy a new screen. Full control over content sources.
- 25:57You can access any content you want, including glows, gble channels,
- 26:01streaming apps, mirrored content, and community platforms. There are no
- 26:06GEO blocks, removed apps, or the dreaded not available in
- 26:10your region restriction. Moxiplayer gives you your TV back, and
- 26:14once you experience that kind of freedom, normal streaming feels
- 26:18impossible to return to. How much does it cost? You
- 26:21don't need another paid app to unlock all of your
- 26:24favorite content. That's the entire point of the Moxie Player.
- 26:28Instead of spending more money every month on subscriptions, you
- 26:32pay once. Right now, Moxie Player is available for just
- 26:36sixty nine ninety nine thanks to a limited time fifty
- 26:40percent off launch offer. You only pay that and that's it.
- 26:45To see why people are switching, Do the math. Even
- 26:48a small streaming bundle, just three apps at about nine
- 26:51to ninety nine each already cost over three hundred and
- 26:54fifty dollars per year. Most homes pay for five or
- 26:58more services, is reaching sixty to one hundred and twenty
- 27:02dollars a month, or seven hundred to fourteen hundred dollars
- 27:05every year. Moxiplayer replaces that entire cycle with a single,
- 27:10one time purchase. For many users, it pays for itself
- 27:15within the first week, once they cancel those restrictive Netflix,
- 27:19HBO and who lose subscriptions, and then entertainment is basically
- 27:23free from that point on. How do I get Moxie Player.
- 27:28Moxiplayer is not sold in stores. The only place to
- 27:31order is the official website Moxie player comes with a
- 27:35thirty day money back guarantee, meaning you can try it
- 27:38completely risk free. If you don't love it, just send
- 27:41it back for a full refund. I have to warn
- 27:44you that stock moves fast. When I ordered mine, it
- 27:47went out of stock shortly after. A colleague had to
- 27:50wait nearly a week to reorder. Mine arrived in three
- 27:53to four days. If you want one soon, it's best
- 27:56to check availability now. This concludes the reas being of
