- Time out for back to the Basics and healthcare with Balanced Life Chiropractic, and we have doctor Harley with us, Hey doing Doctor Harley. Hey John, I'm having a great week. I hope you and all the listeners are too. And it's it's getting warm, it's like summertime. It kind of feels like summertime. And it's a good thing to remember to stay hydrated. Why is that important? Yeah, So we were just talking about how busy. You know, a lot of things are going on this weekend coming up. You know, there's Harrisburg Days, there's Rise Vest and Sheldon, There's, I mean so many different things going on, stuff going on, so a lot of people are gonna be out and about and it's gonna be a hot weekend. You know, there's gonna be a lot of sun, a little bit of a breeze, but looks like we're gonna have a nice weekend. So it's good to remember proper hydration as we start getting out and about more. And hydration is important. But why is it important? Well, is seventy some percent of our bodies made up of water, So yeah, I think it's even more than that. So replenishing that and making sure that it doesn't get you know, you don't sweat it all out right, I mean, so what is good? We want to sweat. That's how our body cools ourselves. So if you suddenly aren't sweating, or you're someone that doesn't sweat in the summer, you need to make sure that you're drinking lots and lots of water. Otherwise your body's gonna overheat and that can lead to things like heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which are really bad. Yeah, don't do those. We don't want to get to that point. So staying well hydrated. You know, the minimums kind of like sixty four fluid ounces of water, which is eight eight ounce glasses of water every day, typically more I would say, half your body weight ounces, especially if you're outside, you're being a little more active. You want to be drinking more water. Don't hit the minimum. We want to be drinking more water. Can you drink too much water? Is that a thing? Yes? That is a thing. Oh yes, So what happens out it's hypeutrimium, so you don't have enough of the electrolytes in your body. So if you're just drinking water and you're sweating a lot you know you're gonna lose a lot of those electrolytes, So drinking that's where those electrolyte powders, gatorade, propel powered, all those things come in handy because it's gonna help replace you know, it's sodium and potassium are the big electrolytes that our body uses, so we want to make sure that we're replenishing that. If we're sweating a lot and doing a lot of extra activity and you want to add electrolytes, Yes, is there a lot of electrolytes in beer? I would not recommend drinking beer, coffee, he pop. Those things are actually be dehydrated. Okay, I can't knew the answer. It's that i'd ask. Obviously, a lot of festivals, a lot of things aren't popular and be drinking a lot. Make sure you're staying well hydrated, because especially the more you drink, and if you're getting drunk, you might not even realize that you're getting dehydrated. And if you're sitting out in the sun and so lots of water, gatorades, propelled select light drinks that are really good would be like the oh, I can't think of what one is called anymore life water is a good one. No more body armor. That's a powder one. Then I don't know. I see all of those, but I don't, and I've seen like power aid. I'm assuming that's kind of like gatorade, right, it's the same thing, all that kind of stuff. So and make sure you're drinking enough of those things. And then now let's kind of circle back to chiropractic, because I always want to make sure we talk since we're talking with a chiropractor, because that is something else that's really important, to make sure your body's communicating with the rest of you, with your brain, and that's what chiropractic helps with very well, doesn't it. And proper hydration actually helps a lot with the healing process. So I tell my new patients when they're getting adjusted, you know, I ask them, are you good with drinking water? Not so good with drinking water? Most people are pretty honest. They're like, I could be better. I need to do better. I had water once, do not recommend. I absolutely like I have to carry a water bottle with me all the time. Otherwise I feel it just doesn't feel right because I drink so much water in the day. But that's going to help hydrate your tissues. It's going to help with the healing process, you know, when you're getting a massage or working out or getting adjusted. Our body's detoxing and getting rid of a lot of just kind of the sludge that's hanging out. That water is going to help filter it out much much faster. So staying well hydrated helps with recovery time with injuries and things like that as well. If somebody listening is going ahead, I'd like to learn more about this and I'd like to talk with this doctor, Harley lady. How do they get a hold of you?
