- John C. Lyons: Hello everyone and welcome to Cinema Activist. I'm your host, John Lyons, and I'm here this week with just a quick news update for the month of September. Top item on the list is tickets just went on sale for our new immersive theater experience called The Lever. Just go to tickets.eriereader.com or tethered immersive.com And get your tickets. We're doing eight shows in October. The first four weekends, Fridays and Saturdays, you can find all the details there on the ticket website. We have two different tiers for tickets. We've got general admission, which gets you into the three-hour, yes, three-hour show. It's gonna be amazing. And we also have a VIP ticket, which gets you a free drink, a collectible pin And you get to stick around for the talk back with the cast and crew and have an after party with us as well. So again, check out those tickets. They just went on sale. Our first event is October 2nd. So don't snooze on this show. I'm super excited about it. Of course, we've been talking about a lot on this podcast and will continue to do so. So get your tickets first for the date that you want. Second thing, just a reminder that our film War is going to be playing in Beverly Hills at the Lady Filmmakers Film Festival. And you can check out the previous episode where I spoke with Danielle Kaiser, who was the choreographer on that short film and her dance collective Seiche is coming back with their new season as well. They just announced an event to preview their season. So check them out at SeicheDancecollective.org to get tickets for that event. And the third news item, which I'm really excited about, is my weekly film series partnership with the 1020 collective in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania is returning. Next Wednesday. That's right. Wow. Next Wednesday, September 9th. So this is a weekly film series on Wednesdays. We open the doors at five, and the feature film each week starts at seven o'clock. Our first event is the open screen happy hour. think of it as an open mic, but for filmmakers. So on September 9th. filmmakers can bring in a short film, a scene, a clip, a music video, anything that they're working on. It's really cool. They're there in person. they introduce their piece and then they answer questions and get feedback from the audience. So this is open to the public, and I do love when We get a lot of people there because that feedback is is really important for filmmakers working on their craft. If you're a filmmaker listening to this now and you're in the northwestern Pennsylvania vicinity and you have something you'd like to show, reach out to myself through this podcast or reach out to the 1020 collective we would love to show your work. Just bring it on a hard drive or share it somewhere that I can download and We'll share it up on the big screen. So that's September 9th. And then September 16th, we've got a new documentary that we're showing about plastic, the issue with plastic. As there are many issues with plastic, as I'm sure a lot of you already know. we're going to have the film's producer, Mitzi Mayer, is going to be there. And she's going to talk about the impacts of plastic on our environment, health, and our future. that's going to be the seven o'clock film, and we will show some eco shorts before then at six o'clock as well. I'm really excited for our September 23rd film. It's photo negative. If you're a listener to this podcast, you know that we had Jacob Perrett on, the writer, director, producer, and also had some members of his cast on as well. Karlee Mayfield and Taylor Rhoades. You can check out those previous episodes and now you can check out the film with me. On Wednesday, September 23rd. Again, this will be the 7 p.m. film, and we might show a surprise before then as well for early birds when we open the doors at five o'clock. And then to wrap things for the month of September, on September 30th, we're showing Boots Riley's new piece of cinema activism, I Love Boosters, which is a great satirical look at our corporatocracy, fast fashion, the haves, have nots, if you will. and I had quite a lot of fun checking out this film in the cinema, and I hope that you do too. I'm just announcing the September program for now. We are going to be announcing soon the October and November programs as well. But if you're in the Erie area, please come out on Wednesdays to the 1020 Collective. That's at 1020 Holland Street and downtown Erie. Again, doors open at five, and we might be showing some surprises in the five o'clock spot as well, with the feature film at seven. They've got a nice bar there a lot of drink and food options. And that's all for this episode. So just some quick updates. Of course, we are deep in rehearsals for Tethered's the lever, and I'll have more on that and the immersive world coming up soon. So thanks for listening. We'll be back soon. Have a great one, everybody. Cheers.
