- 0:03Happy Thursday morning, everybody. 5:33 in the morning,
- 0:10533 Herman. Why not 535-3333 for Harry Gant?
- 0:21That was a mouthful, Herman. Well, good morning everybody.
- 0:27Today's subject matter is something that I saw last night
- 0:32on Flow Racing. I witnessed some young racers
- 0:38with big last names. I saw Owen Larson, Kyle Larson's
- 0:45son start 8th, 8th. That's way back for a heat race.
- 0:51Little 8 lap heat race. Owen Larson driving for Chad
- 0:58Boat. You're going to see a lot of
- 0:59those race cars down there at the Tulsa Shootout, Chad Boat
- 1:05fielding these cars and helping all the racers out.
- 1:10And Kyle Larson, the father, decided to put his son Owen
- 1:15Larson in Chad's race cars. And Owen goes from dead last to
- 1:21the wind. Then my heart was so happy to
- 1:26see Braxton Bush. Braxton won his race and started
- 1:336th. But what I was more impressed
- 1:37about with Braxton was his his interview after the race.
- 1:43Now, listen, the Herminator's an honest man in a good way, a
- 1:49loving way. All right, Herman, what?
- 1:54What are you getting ready to say?
- 1:57Well, we know that the Bush brothers have always been very
- 2:01intense with their interviews. But it appears Mama Samantha
- 2:07Bush as as they call her Sam, it appears Sam has got a hold of
- 2:12Braxton. What a pleasant, happy young
- 2:15man. Just just a good interview.
- 2:18You could you could just tell he was a different.
- 2:21He's a different spirit. I I think he's got his daddy's
- 2:24driving skills. I really think Braxton drives
- 2:29like his father but acts like his Mama.
- 2:33Just a good spirit. I really like Braxton.
- 2:40Owen. I don't know enough, but I but I
- 2:44know there's some funny things. You you know, I've interviewed
- 2:47Kyle Larson and Caitlin Larson inside joke Owen.
- 2:55Owen was upset a couple years ago and Kyle Larson joke to all
- 3:00of us racers. He said, well, Owens retired.
- 3:04He said he was retired. He had a bad night at the
- 3:06racetrack couple years ago. So I'm kind of still waiting to
- 3:11see how Owen turns out now. Owen's got a great mommy and
- 3:15daddy and I think Owen's going to be just fine.
- 3:20So you know, and the listen there, there's another driver
- 3:24out there that I don't see going this route, which is Keelan
- 3:30Harvick, Keelan and Mama Delana and Kevin.
- 3:38They're going more the asphalt route.
- 3:40I think this is very interesting.
- 3:44Now I do, I do want to say this. I watched the Flow racing last
- 3:50night, the Tulsa Shootout, Tulsa, OK on a dirt track.
- 3:55But my buddy Eddie Balkovic giving a shout out to Eddie.
- 3:58Hey, Eddie, good morning. Eddie was the one a couple weeks
- 4:02ago. He said Herman, he said maybe
- 4:05talk about some of these young racers coming up.
- 4:08So this is kind of A2 fold idea here as I watched the races of
- 4:13Flow, you know, on Flow TV last night.
- 4:16Now watch these young racers, you know, I thought, boy, they
- 4:20stand out. Their their dads are, are great
- 4:25NASCAR racers and not not just great NASCAR racers.
- 4:30These are great, great racers, right, because Kyle Larson, he
- 4:35wins and everything. So he's just not a great NASCAR
- 4:37racer, but he's teaching his son, you know, Owen Larson how
- 4:42to start out on dirt and very impressed with the route that
- 4:49Kyle Larson and Mama Sam have chosen for Braxton to go dirt.
- 4:55Now getting back to Keelan, Mama Delana and and Kevin Harvick
- 5:02have chose to take Keelan more the asphalt route.
- 5:08Hey, listen, it don't matter as long as they get to where they
- 5:12want to go. I will say that when I look back
- 5:16on my young career, I spent a lot of time in my early days
- 5:21becoming a fabricator, a crew member, crew chief.
- 5:26Hell, I didn't start racing until I was 22.
- 5:29So nowadays, if you don't got these kids in a race car racing
- 5:35at five years old, you're considered behind.
- 5:39And I blame all that on Tiger Woods.
- 5:42Jeff Gordon, you go back, you go back in my day, Tiger Woods.
- 5:48I remember Tiger Woods being on the Johnny Carson show as a
- 5:52baby, you know, And here all these years later, Oh my God.
- 5:57And then same with Jeff Gordon. So this new phenomenon, society
- 6:02doesn't allow you to wait anymore.
- 6:04They want everything hurried up. And here's another thing, they
- 6:07love youth. Youth is inspiring.
- 6:10These girls nowadays getting all this Botox they don't want, no,
- 6:15you know, old age on their faces.
- 6:18So we all love youth. Oh, look, my kids 8 years old.
- 6:22He's already won 12 championships.
- 6:26So that that's life. Now.
- 6:29This is where we're at. But I really think these parents
- 6:33are doing a wonderful job raising their kids at the
- 6:37racetrack. They're allowing them to get out
- 6:40of the race car, be kids, hang out with their friends, but yet
- 6:44all the while teaching them geometry.
- 6:48I want to share something that I saw last night that I that I
- 6:52really liked. You know, when, when Brexton
- 6:58Bush got the lead, his entry to the corners.
- 7:02Everything is a race car driver and and and for the matter of
- 7:08fact, just every entry to every corner, even if it's Rd. course.
- 7:13That's everything. That's that's all there is to
- 7:15it. How you enter that corner is
- 7:19going to determine what kind of race car driver you're going to
- 7:21be. If you don't get it early on in
- 7:24life, you got to you got to practice and make it better.
- 7:27I've watched Jeff Gordon and I'm I'm going to tell you another
- 7:30driver that entered really good until he got hurt, which was,
- 7:35you know, Shane Meals boy, he'd let off early, drift that thing
- 7:41down or get his entry right. But that Braxton Bush, he's
- 7:44going to be a good one every single lap.
- 7:46I kept studying them. His entry was really good.
- 7:50He didn't chop the corner. He wasn't out too far, had a
- 7:53really good entry. And I've noticed that even with
- 7:58Owen. So one thing I noticed with
- 8:01Keelan Harvick on the asphalt. Now, Keelan did not race last
- 8:04night, but I watch him race. Keelan.
- 8:09OK, here's what we're going to end with.
- 8:11Everybody. One way to see a good young race
- 8:15car driver watch their entry to all the corners.
- 8:20I'm just giving you a shortcut. I'm giving you all a shortcut.
- 8:25Keelan, Harvick, Braxton Bush, Owen Larson.
- 8:30They get the entry right. Don't chop the corner, don't get
- 8:34your left front up on that curve and lose your center of the
- 8:37corner speed. Don't get out too far.
- 8:41Just get that entry right, you know, and roll that corner
- 8:45speed, get through the middle really fast.
- 8:48That's that's one thing that I see that dad Kevin Harvick
- 8:54taught Keelan, Kyle Busch has taught Braxton and Kyle Larson
- 9:02has taught Owens. So for are you daddy racers out
- 9:05there? Get your boys to enter the
- 9:08corner properly and that's going to excel their racing career.
- 9:12And another thing cheers because they got good mom and dads.
- 9:17I can see they're raising them right.
- 9:19They're letting them be kids. They're letting them get out of
- 9:22the race cars and go go with their buddies a little bit and
- 9:26then and then they mature right up when they get back in their
- 9:29race car and they put that helmet on.
- 9:30It's like, I can't believe my kid drives like this.
- 9:34They'll be, they'll be all these kids that I'm talking about
- 9:38their kids. But boy, when they get in that
- 9:40race car and they put that helmet on, it's like they, it's
- 9:44like they grown up 20 years. They they get in that race car
- 9:48810 years old, but once they put that helmet on, they're like 25
- 9:51years old. All right, everybody respond
- 9:54right here. I hope you enjoyed my little
- 9:56update on these young, outstanding race car drivers.
- 10:01And there's more now, don't get on me.
- 10:03I know your driver's great too. I'm just saying these are the
- 10:06ones that I see standing out. Mom and dad's doing a great
- 10:09deal, but they're winning. That's if you want your kid to
- 10:14show up. It's a sad, it's a sad statement
- 10:18to say. They used to say this to me in
- 10:20NASCAR. I used to complain, Hey, put me
- 10:23on TV. You know what they would say?
- 10:26Give me a reason to put you on TV.
- 10:28So I'm sure your child is good too.
- 10:30But when you're up front, they put you on TV and you stand out
- 10:34and I love you. I love you all very much, but
- 10:38you got to show up up front. That's the sad state of affair
- 10:42for competition. Happens that way in baseball and
- 10:45football. Give me a reason to talk about
- 10:48you. All right, everybody have a
- 10:51great Thursday.
