After a decade of persistence, Northport is finally set to welcome a Steak n Shake — opening late 2026 near Bridge Ave and Lurleen B. Wallace Blvd. Local businessman Ric Mayers, who’s been chasing this dream since 2012, broke through after meeting the CEO at a wedding — and the owner reportedly said, “We’re going to do business together.” The retro 1950s-themed spot will feature a drive-thru and outdoor patio, bringing that classic American diner vibe to the area after years of delays and roadblocks.
