- 0:50Speaker 1: you with us on a Thursday. This portion of the
- 0:52Speaker 1: program is brought to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine.
- 0:58Speaker 4: We have a full show today.
- 1:00Speaker 1: You'll just have to judge how good it is, but
- 1:02Speaker 1: I think it's decent. We're going to hear from SEC
- 1:06Speaker 1: analyst gene Chiswick, the former football coach, with Darry Noka
- 1:11Speaker 1: breaking down an m L squ We're going to hear
- 1:14Speaker 1: from the Great Lane Kiffin as he heads to Soonerville
- 1:19Speaker 1: on Saturday. We have a high school report. We're going
- 1:23Speaker 1: to hear from defensive back Dalton Brooks. We have got
- 1:27Speaker 1: our Clark Eisenhower Outdoor Edition with some frankly amazing stories
- 1:34Speaker 1: that you're going to want to stay tuned for. We're
- 1:38Speaker 1: going to revisit a bone fishing trip in Belize, and
- 1:43Speaker 1: we're also going to revisit the new speckled trout regulations.
- 1:48Speaker 4: About a year and a.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Half since, there is a huge betting scandal brewing in
- 1:57Speaker 1: the NBA and beyond and Trailblazers coach Chauncey Billups in Miami,
- 2:02Speaker 1: Heat guard Terry Rozier were arrested early this morning as
- 2:07Speaker 1: part of investigations related to illegal gambling Rosier at a
- 2:13Speaker 1: hotel in Orlando. The Heat lost their season opener last night.
- 2:17Speaker 1: He did not play. Rosier's attorney had told ESPN his
- 2:21Speaker 1: client met with the NBA and the FBI multiple times
- 2:25Speaker 1: several years ago. Billips case is very interesting. It involves poker,
- 2:32Speaker 1: it involves the mob. There are names that are going
- 2:38Speaker 1: to be coming out, including former Houston Cougar Damon Jones,
- 2:43Speaker 1: retired eleven year veteran who was part of this illegal
- 2:48Speaker 1: gambling case, one of six individuals accused of turning professional
- 2:53Speaker 1: basketball into a criminal criminal gambling operation using it inside information.
- 3:02Speaker 1: The SEC has done something today I didn't think they
- 3:06Speaker 1: would ever do and announce it publicly. They have permanently
- 3:13Speaker 1: suspended veteran official Ken Williamson from officiating conference games following
- 3:20Speaker 1: a review that upheld nine of eleven complaints against his
- 3:26Speaker 1: crew in the Auburn Georgia game, where Georgia won amid
- 3:31Speaker 1: controversial calls like a denied touchdown on a fumble recovery
- 3:36Speaker 1: an uncharged time out. The decision, prompted by complaints from
- 3:41Speaker 1: Auburn Athletics director John Cohen, underscores rare accountability in SEC officiating.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Williamson's pass role came up in the CFP semifinal. Fans
- 3:57Speaker 1: from Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State have all reacted strongly on
- 4:03Speaker 1: social media, underlying frustrations with his integrity and competency. Again,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I never thought I'd see the day in this league
- 4:16Speaker 1: that the league would be accountable and hold an officialble
- 4:21Speaker 1: accountable for horrible officiating. I hope this is not the
- 4:27Speaker 1: end of this SEC sack leader cashus Howe has been
- 4:32Speaker 1: added to the Chuck Bednerik Watch List. Hal ranks sixth
- 4:39Speaker 1: nationally was seven and a half sacks. According to Pro
- 4:43Speaker 1: Football Focus, he leads all SEC players with a ninety
- 4:47Speaker 1: one and a half pass rush grade, thirty two quarterback pressures,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and a twenty six percent win rate versus blocking on
- 4:58Speaker 1: pass rush snaps. The bed Nerik has been presented to
- 5:02Speaker 1: the College Defensive Player of the Year since nineteen ninety four.
- 5:07Speaker 1: That win won the award in nineteen ninety eight. College
- 5:13Speaker 1: Football Tonight, in case you need a fix to get
- 5:17Speaker 1: ready for the weekend, South Alabama in the Sun Belt
- 5:24Speaker 1: against Georgia State in the Sun Belt. That game will
- 5:30Speaker 1: be on the Deuce. The Toronto Blue Jays have announced
- 5:35Speaker 1: that rookie Trey yes Savage will start Game one of
- 5:40Speaker 1: the World Series tomorrow night against the Dodgers Blake Shell.
- 5:45Speaker 1: A decision on activating shortstop bo Bashett has yet to
- 5:50Speaker 1: be named. He has a sprain left knee that has
- 5:55Speaker 1: sidelined him for a month and a half. Yes Savage
- 5:59Speaker 1: made his major league debut September fifteenth. We'll be making
- 6:05Speaker 1: his fourth postseason start. Game two. Starter will be among
- 6:13Speaker 1: Kevin Gossman, Max Scherzer, and Shane Bieber. The Dodgers announced
- 6:19Speaker 1: that Snell would start game one and Yamamoto game two.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I just want to see Max Scherzer man. I want
- 6:26Speaker 1: to see Mad Max snorting on the mound.
- 6:29Speaker 4: I don't care for how long. I hope he starts, because.
- 6:35Speaker 1: The last time he did that was a great story
- 6:38Speaker 1: of him just screaming at the manager before the manager
- 6:42Speaker 1: even got to the mound to take Mad Max out
- 6:45Speaker 1: of the game, and he goes, there is no way.
- 6:48Speaker 4: You're taking me out of this game. Now, we love
- 6:52Speaker 4: it some mad macks.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Mark Wegner will be the World Series umpire crew chief
- 6:59Speaker 1: for the first time, joining Jordan Baker, Adam Hamari, Adrian Johnson,
- 7:05Speaker 1: Will Little, Alan Porter, and John Tom Payne as the
- 7:11Speaker 1: crew for the World Series. Wegner, fifty three year old
- 7:16Speaker 1: who's been umpiring since nineteen ninety eight, worked the series
- 7:21Speaker 1: in thirteen and seventeen. He was behind the plate for
- 7:26Speaker 1: the Astros Game seven win against the Dodgers. Porter is
- 7:31Speaker 1: working his third World Series, Baker his second World Series.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Will Little will.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Be behind the plate for the opener tomorrow, and Ken Anderson,
- 7:47Speaker 1: one of nineteen offensive players and thirty four overall that
- 7:53Speaker 1: are nominated by the Senior Committee for the Pro Football
- 7:57Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. Roman Gabrill is on that list. Chuck
- 8:02Speaker 1: Foreman is on that list. Chuck Foreman needs to be
- 8:05Speaker 1: in the Hall of Fame. Harold Jackson is on that list.
- 8:10Speaker 1: In my opinion, he should be in the Hall of Fame,
- 8:14Speaker 1: but not before. Otis Taylor of the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I can't believe Otis Taylor is not in the Hall
- 8:23Speaker 1: of Fame. We've had this discussion every time these lists
- 8:26Speaker 1: come out. Else Greenwood is on the list, Jim Marshall
- 8:30Speaker 1: is on the list, Leroy Jordan is on the list.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Tommy Nobis is still not in the Pro Football Hall
- 8:41Speaker 1: of Fame. The Pro Football Hall of Fame will never
- 8:45Speaker 1: have any credibility until Tommy Nobus is in the Pro.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Football Hall of Fame.
- 8:53Speaker 2: It is.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Just unthinkable, it's inexcusable. Had Tommy Nobus played anywhere but
- 9:02Speaker 1: the Atlanta Falcons, he would have been in the Hall
- 9:06Speaker 1: of Fame thirty years ago. My opinions are my own,
- 9:12Speaker 1: but they are correct. Ninety nine point nine percent of
- 9:16Speaker 1: the time. We're gonna take a break, We're gonna come back.
- 9:20Speaker 1: We're gonna hear from Gene Chiswick on the game Saturday night.
- 9:23Speaker 1: We're gonna hear from Lane Kiffen on his game in
- 9:27Speaker 1: Norman on Saturday. Final Lap is brought to you by
- 9:31Speaker 1: and Co.

- 9:59Speaker 5: and co Insurance a Hub International company, So you're ready
- 10:02Speaker 5: for tomorrow.
- 10:05Speaker 6: Ryan Preeze is on. And if you're not a playoff
- 10:08Speaker 6: driver and you're racing amongst playoff drivers, what's the etiquette
- 10:12Speaker 6: when it comes to your own teammates? Can you just
- 10:15Speaker 6: pull over and help them win?
- 10:17Speaker 7: If I'm leading a race, am I gonna pull over?
- 10:20Speaker 7: I don't think you can do that, So you know
- 10:24Speaker 7: there there's definitely a lot, a lot to it. I
- 10:27Speaker 7: definitely you know, I didn't make the system. You know
- 10:30Speaker 7: there's thirty what is there? So thirty six twenty eight,
- 10:34Speaker 7: there's twenty eight other drivers out there that are that
- 10:36Speaker 7: are still trying to win or do the right things
- 10:39Speaker 7: by their teams. So is it is it unfortunate that
- 10:43Speaker 7: you know, those guys that do or die have to
- 10:45Speaker 7: go up against you know, people that aren't technically in
- 10:48Speaker 7: the playoffs or but it's it would do your team
- 10:51Speaker 7: an injustice if you just kind of wrote around saying, well,
- 10:54Speaker 7: I'm just gonna ride eighth, ninth, tenth or second or
- 10:57Speaker 7: whatever it may be. You know, I think at that point,
- 11:02Speaker 7: if you're you know, if you're second or.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Third, and you know whoever.
- 11:07Speaker 8: It is runs you down, you don't.
- 11:09Speaker 9: You don't have to.
- 11:10Speaker 7: That's where you just kind of use use your mind,
- 11:12Speaker 7: you know, use your use your head when it comes
- 11:15Speaker 7: to some of that stuff. So every situation is different.
- 11:18Speaker 7: You can make somebody's life difficult or you can make
- 11:20Speaker 7: it easy, and you know, how you choose to approach
- 11:23Speaker 7: that is your decision. But yeah, I mean for me,
- 11:29Speaker 7: my goal is to go and win.
- 11:30Speaker 2: This is the final app.
- 11:32Speaker 10: Find what you love, love what you find a total

- 13:01Speaker 1: I will remind you that tomorrow on the program, Caleb
- 13:07Speaker 1: and Ryan will be here. I will have my regular
- 13:11Speaker 1: Friday interviews with Kirk Bowles of the Houston Chronicle Tony
- 13:16Speaker 1: Catalina of the Austin American Statesman. That Tomorrow Monday, we'll
- 13:22Speaker 1: have the writers roundtable and postgame from Baton Rouge. Tuesday,
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm going to visit with Paul Myers. His brother is
- 13:31Speaker 1: Mike Myers, the actor and comedian. He has written a
- 13:36Speaker 1: biography of John Candy and it is terrific. It's bittersweet
- 13:45Speaker 1: for sure for those of you old enough to know
- 13:50Speaker 1: who John Candy is and remember John Candy is one
- 13:53Speaker 1: of the funniest guys ever. Unfortunately he died at age
- 13:58Speaker 1: forty three a long time ago. But the book is
- 14:03Speaker 1: called John Candy, A Life in Comedy. Paul Myers will
- 14:08Speaker 1: join me on the show next Tuesday.
- 14:13Speaker 4: So we got that going on for us, which is nice. Okay.
- 14:18Speaker 4: So we took a little bit from the SEC.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Network with dary Noka and Gene Chiswick, the former Auburn coach.
- 14:29Speaker 1: And this is Chiswick, one of obviously the studio analysts
- 14:36Speaker 1: and he is going to talk about the game on
- 14:43Speaker 1: Saturday in Baton Rouge.
- 14:46Speaker 18: As a head coach, what are some things that you
- 14:50Speaker 18: have to take into account during the week of preparation
- 14:52Speaker 18: that might prepare you for water weeks.
- 14:55Speaker 19: Well, I think everybody realizes that.
- 14:57Speaker 20: You know, when your offense travels on the road place
- 15:00Speaker 20: like Death Valley, you have to put all the speakers out,
- 15:02Speaker 20: all the noise. You got to match and practice what
- 15:05Speaker 20: you're gonna have in the game, right, so you do
- 15:07Speaker 20: all the noise meters.
- 15:08Speaker 19: And things of that nature.
- 15:09Speaker 20: You have to do that, Darry We used to have
- 15:11Speaker 20: things called silent Sundays and whisper Wednesdays. Right, That means
- 15:15Speaker 20: you can't say anything. Everything has to be done with
- 15:18Speaker 20: hand signals, literally, because when you're sitting there and you're
- 15:21Speaker 20: an offense going into Death Valley, your quarterback and receiver
- 15:24Speaker 20: they have to be on the same page. Your offensive
- 15:27Speaker 20: line they have to be on the same page because
- 15:29Speaker 20: the center's trying to figure out who to block, and
- 15:31Speaker 20: he's telling everybody who to block, and the other guys
- 15:33Speaker 20: right now we are trying to figure out what the
- 15:35Speaker 20: snap count is. So there's a lot of communication issues.
- 15:37Speaker 20: But it has to happen in practice on during the week.
- 15:41Speaker 18: You were kind of making the analogy that defense. You've
- 15:44Speaker 18: got to really practice the same thing for your home
- 15:47Speaker 18: games because at Jordan Hare when you were coaching there,
- 15:50Speaker 18: for instance, it was so loud when the other.
- 15:51Speaker 19: Team had the ball your defense could.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it's incredible.
- 15:54Speaker 20: People don't really think about that dark because they always
- 15:56Speaker 20: think about the offense. They're the ones that you know
- 15:58Speaker 20: have the penalties because they can't hear. But defensively, you
- 16:01Speaker 20: have the same issues. You want a coverage bust, you
- 16:03Speaker 20: want to give up big plays. Yeah, don't communicate right
- 16:07Speaker 20: or correctly. So what happens when you're playing a home
- 16:09Speaker 20: game and you're at Texas A and M or Auburn
- 16:12Speaker 20: or Alabama you have to work those same things with
- 16:15Speaker 20: your defense because you know what your crowd's going to
- 16:17Speaker 20: be like when the opposite offense is only you.
- 16:19Speaker 18: Start looking at that game in the matchup, is it
- 16:22Speaker 18: almost like good on good, bad on bad? Like LSU's
- 16:26Speaker 18: offense can't get going, but A and M's defense wasn't
- 16:29Speaker 18: exactly lighten it up in Faddeville the other day.
- 16:32Speaker 20: Yeah, I think Texas A and M has found that
- 16:34Speaker 20: they got a little bit exposed. Right now, you can
- 16:37Speaker 20: go back to the two really good offenses that they've
- 16:39Speaker 20: played against Notre Dame early in the year and then
- 16:42Speaker 20: Saturday against Arkansas. Darry Now think about this coach's worst
- 16:46Speaker 20: nightmares to get up on Sunday as a defensive guy
- 16:49Speaker 20: and you've given.
- 16:49Speaker 19: Up a lot of explosive plays.
- 16:51Speaker 20: You know what, a lot of explosive plays are somewhere
- 16:54Speaker 20: around ten or eleven. They had nineteen oh ninth Arkansas.
- 16:58Speaker 19: I had nineteen.
- 16:59Speaker 20: Explosive plays against this defense.
- 17:01Speaker 4: So you go back and look what happened.
- 17:02Speaker 19: It was runfit issues.
- 17:04Speaker 20: Linebacker's in the wrong gap, defensive line guys weren't playing
- 17:07Speaker 20: great gap control. There was open field tackling, spatial issues
- 17:12Speaker 20: with the defense. And then when you go to pass coverage,
- 17:14Speaker 20: played a lot of zone coverage, but one guy's chasing
- 17:18Speaker 20: a route and sure enough another receiver comes. They dumped
- 17:21Speaker 20: the ball in there. There was holes in the defense.
- 17:24Speaker 20: Nineteen explosive plays. They've got to get that fix. If
- 17:27Speaker 20: you want to be in a championship conversation, you've got
- 17:30Speaker 20: to be able to play consistently great defense. They're still
- 17:33Speaker 20: getting sacks and they're still productive, but Arkansas exposed them
- 17:38Speaker 20: and they became inconsistent again, much like the explosive plays
- 17:42Speaker 20: they gave up against Notre Dame earlier in the year.
- 17:44Speaker 1: All Right, that's gene Chiswick. By the way, Just a
- 17:48Speaker 1: little stat for you, Brian Kelly is twenty and one
- 17:54Speaker 1: at night games and Death Valley. Okay, Now, they have
- 17:59Speaker 1: not been world beaters under Brian Kelly, but they haven't
- 18:04Speaker 1: been what I would call mediocre either.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Right.
- 18:08Speaker 1: As a rule, they're twenty and one in night game.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So that's a little more history to overcome. We're gonna
- 18:15Speaker 1: hear from Lane Kiffin in just a minute. I just
- 18:18Speaker 1: had to throw this at I went and watched a
- 18:20Speaker 1: little of the scrimmage a little bucky Ball last night.
- 18:24Speaker 1: It's a little hard to tell because they were without
- 18:27Speaker 1: their two best players, Mackenzie mcbacco, the kid from Indiana
- 18:33Speaker 1: the transfer, and also Pop Isaacs were held out. Baco
- 18:38Speaker 1: be a while before getting back. I was surprised that
- 18:42Speaker 1: Pop Isaacs did not play in the scrimmage last night,
- 18:46Speaker 1: So a little bit hard to tell. Marcus Hill, I
- 18:50Speaker 1: really liked Ryland Griffin, who I knew could play. I
- 18:56Speaker 1: really liked a lot of work to do, you know,
- 19:04Speaker 1: a lot of chaos. The emphasis is just keep moving
- 19:08Speaker 1: and so that's what it's going to be. But be
- 19:13Speaker 1: interesting to see how it all comes together. Interesting to
- 19:16Speaker 1: see how it all comes together. Okay, as I said,
- 19:21Speaker 1: the fighting Lane Kiffins probably playing for their playoff lives Saturday.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I'm still trying to figure out why they're five and
- 19:32Speaker 1: a half point underdogs against what I still think is
- 19:35Speaker 1: a not very good Oklahoma team. This is Lane Kiffin
- 19:41Speaker 1: from his local news conference earlier this week.
- 19:47Speaker 19: For this morning.
- 19:48Speaker 21: Onto an extremely challenging opponent, another really hard road game.
- 19:54Speaker 21: So you know, glad we had one, you know, to
- 19:58Speaker 21: prepare us for that, what it's like to play in
- 20:01Speaker 21: a really loud environment, and so hopefully.
- 20:05Speaker 19: That'll help us as we go into this one.
- 20:07Speaker 21: These guys got a phenomenal quarterback that can do everything.
- 20:14Speaker 21: This probably I don't know this, but it feels like
- 20:18Speaker 21: looking at it, probably statistically the best defense we've ever
- 20:21Speaker 21: played here. You know, basically hardly anybody's done anything against them.
- 20:26Speaker 21: I think they've given up six, five or six touchdowns
- 20:32Speaker 21: all year long. I think two in the first half
- 20:34Speaker 21: of games, which is just you know, incredible numbers and
- 20:41Speaker 21: Brinston do an awesome job whenever he's led the defense,
- 20:44Speaker 21: I think every year, but when they've had top ten finishes,
- 20:47Speaker 21: which is you know, just just a phenomenal job of
- 20:52Speaker 21: how hard he gets them to play. They've got great
- 20:55Speaker 21: players now that he's had a couple of years to
- 20:58Speaker 21: get these guys in there and get them trained and coached,
- 21:00Speaker 21: and they're playing not as well, they're playing better than
- 21:04Speaker 21: any defense in the country, and it basically shut everybody.
- 21:08Speaker 19: Down and phenomenal.
- 21:10Speaker 21: I mean, they got games, you know, as you guys
- 21:12Speaker 21: know TV copies player, I'm walking by their last week's
- 21:16Speaker 21: game South Carolina, and South Carolina is oh of ten
- 21:18Speaker 21: on third downs, you know, at the point of the game.
- 21:22Speaker 21: So they've they've done an amazing job, and he just
- 21:27Speaker 21: somehow gets the information to the guys and they do
- 21:32Speaker 21: a great job of playing plays. You know, they just
- 21:36Speaker 21: do things that are very abnormal when they see plays
- 21:40Speaker 21: that they think are coming and go to take away
- 21:43Speaker 21: and go to pick them off. And so this would
- 21:47Speaker 21: be a really great test for us. And obviously we
- 21:51Speaker 21: need to get back on track defensively after last week.
- 21:55Speaker 21: So we've looked at a lot of different things with
- 21:58Speaker 21: that to try to fix that up.
- 22:02Speaker 22: He'll lead to that second straight road game, just having
- 22:05Speaker 22: to be able to go back and review and look
- 22:07Speaker 22: how you feel Trinidad did in that environment, knowing he's
- 22:10Speaker 22: got another one coming up here Saturday.
- 22:12Speaker 19: Yeah, I talked to Trinidad.
- 22:13Speaker 21: Really I felt like, you know, it would be like
- 22:16Speaker 21: a baseball pitcher, you know, maybe to go and play
- 22:19Speaker 21: and playing at Finway or something, you know, really hard
- 22:26Speaker 21: place to play against the you know, great defensive coach
- 22:32Speaker 21: team and Kirby and Schumann that have shut down a
- 22:35Speaker 21: lot of quarterbacks and a lot of bad quarterback ratings.
- 22:39Speaker 21: And I felt like pretty much probably pitched six seven
- 22:42Speaker 21: innings of almost no hit ball, you know, certainly shut
- 22:46Speaker 21: out ball. If you were putting in a baseball pitching
- 22:48Speaker 21: analogy and then didn't finish it off, you know there
- 22:52Speaker 21: at the end, last couple of drives and Hattie, it
- 22:57Speaker 21: would have been a historical, historical game, you know, to
- 23:01Speaker 21: continue at the rate he was playing at or pitching
- 23:05Speaker 21: in this analogy, it would have been been amazing to do.
- 23:09Speaker 19: But we didn't finish it off offensively.
- 23:12Speaker 21: And it's too bad because those were six seven really
- 23:20Speaker 21: phenomenal innings that he pitched if you put it in
- 23:23Speaker 21: that perspective, in a very hard place to place to play.
- 23:29Speaker 23: You mentioned Oklahoma's quarterback Owago also a new offensive coordinator
- 23:32Speaker 23: this year.
- 23:33Speaker 7: Just how different do they look offensively this year than
- 23:35Speaker 7: a year ago?
- 23:36Speaker 21: Yeah, I mean night and day. Very different, and this
- 23:39Speaker 21: guy's done a great job. Presents a lot of problems.
- 23:43Speaker 21: Runs the quarterback plus one runs moves them around, and
- 23:48Speaker 21: then they've got a background together which obviously helps too.
- 23:52Speaker 21: So this is a really big challenge they do. They
- 23:56Speaker 21: do a great job. You know, they've always had this defense,
- 23:59Speaker 21: really got this defense fixed, you know, the last couple
- 24:02Speaker 21: of years, and now they got their offense fixed. And
- 24:04Speaker 21: now you got a top ten, top ten team.
- 24:10Speaker 19: Like they have.
- 24:11Speaker 21: You know what you're supposed to have at Oklahoma.
- 24:13Speaker 24: In reference of fixing their defenses, seems like dipped on
- 24:17Speaker 24: the defensive line.
- 24:18Speaker 19: They rotate like eight or nine guys throughout the game.
- 24:21Speaker 21: Yeah, they're coached really well. They have some backups come
- 24:23Speaker 21: in and they look similar. How fast they get off
- 24:28Speaker 21: on the ball. And you know, they got really good
- 24:32Speaker 21: players that are coached really well. That's a really good
- 24:34Speaker 21: combination in a very aggressive, almost like defensive mindset. I
- 24:40Speaker 21: feel like he plays kind of like a lot of offense,
- 24:45Speaker 21: or some offenses play sometimes where it's like when he
- 24:48Speaker 21: has them and he has them down, he doesn't get conservative.
- 24:50Speaker 21: It's like he's going to really try to like keep going.
- 24:53Speaker 21: And it's why you see some of these games where
- 24:55Speaker 21: it's just, you know, the offensive numbers are so far
- 24:58Speaker 21: down here because.
- 24:59Speaker 19: He just never lets up.
- 25:00Speaker 21: And I think that that's not necessarily always how defensive
- 25:05Speaker 21: coaches call it. I think that's maybe a little more
- 25:07Speaker 21: some offensive coaches do that. So I think he's taking
- 25:10Speaker 21: that mindset and he really knocks people out.
- 25:15Speaker 25: I just wonder if you could elaborate on what it
- 25:17Speaker 25: is that you think they're able to do to sort
- 25:19Speaker 25: of know what's coming sometimes that other teams don't seem
- 25:23Speaker 25: to be able to do well.
- 25:25Speaker 21: I think that's two part. I think one, it's phenomenal prep.
- 25:30Speaker 21: You know, a film study of signals. I mean not
- 25:35Speaker 21: as I just tell you how it is. I think
- 25:36Speaker 21: they do a great job of that. So if you
- 25:39Speaker 21: study people really well, you know, and then you have
- 25:41Speaker 21: enough confidence as a coach to go after those that
- 25:44Speaker 21: seems what he does and seems like, you know, they've
- 25:48Speaker 21: got a really good beat on the plays that are
- 25:51Speaker 21: coming when they're called, and they do a great job
- 25:54Speaker 21: of going and taking those away. When you look at
- 25:57Speaker 21: the Auburn game, I mean, I told you after the
- 26:00Speaker 21: game watching it, I mean, you might want to switch
- 26:03Speaker 21: his signals. Like it looks like they have the plays.
- 26:05Speaker 21: The mental safety is running down to steel slants, which
- 26:09Speaker 21: is very abnormal.
- 26:12Speaker 19: You may have just answered my next question, but do
- 26:13Speaker 19: you get with that in mind?
- 26:15Speaker 25: Do you have to shake everything up from a signal
- 26:17Speaker 25: standpoint this week or do you do that every week?
- 26:19Speaker 19: Anyway? Now we're going to keep our same signals.
- 26:23Speaker 25: I mean, I guess I was wondering do you do
- 26:25Speaker 25: do that every week? Or is that is that something
- 26:27Speaker 25: that that you have to specifically address because of who
- 26:31Speaker 25: you're playing.
- 26:31Speaker 21: Yeah, that's a really good question, and competitively, I can't
- 26:35Speaker 21: answer that for you. Off season seminar on that for you,
- 26:42Speaker 21: teach you how that works.
- 26:44Speaker 23: Key one is coming off his third multi touchdown game
- 26:46Speaker 23: of the year. How helpful has it been to have
- 26:49Speaker 23: him in the backfield to be able to balance out
- 26:51Speaker 23: your offense?
- 26:53Speaker 19: Yeah?
- 26:53Speaker 21: Key one has done an amazing job. You know, I
- 26:57Speaker 21: always look at things, not like, oh, how well did
- 26:59Speaker 21: you do? And sit on that, and I always look
- 27:02Speaker 21: at things say, okay, how could we have done something differently?
- 27:05Speaker 21: You know, and I kind of wish he would have
- 27:06Speaker 21: got him the ball there in the fourth quarter, you know,
- 27:09Speaker 21: as they were driving a lot. But at the same
- 27:11Speaker 21: time too, in my opinion, you move versus Georgia through throwing,
- 27:16Speaker 21: especially their defense this year, and it's a lot harder
- 27:19Speaker 21: to run against them. Is why you saw a pass
- 27:21Speaker 21: heavy game or quarterback run game. So and it worked
- 27:24Speaker 21: five series of five touchdowns, so it's kind of hard to.
- 27:27Speaker 19: Go away from that.
- 27:28Speaker 21: But looking back obviously, when you know we missed some
- 27:31Speaker 21: of the throws, said man, I wish we kind would
- 27:34Speaker 21: have give it to him, But.
- 27:36Speaker 19: He's done a great job.
- 27:38Speaker 23: And how big is that in road games, especially in
- 27:40Speaker 23: a stadium like that, to be able to establish a
- 27:42Speaker 23: ground game.
- 27:43Speaker 21: Yeah, I think it's just it's just such a different feeling,
- 27:47Speaker 21: you know, when you know, you know, you go to
- 27:51Speaker 21: Georgia and play that defense in that environment and there's
- 27:55Speaker 21: no turnovers, no sacks and no tackles for loss. Probably
- 28:00Speaker 21: tell you who'd have won, and probably won by a
- 28:02Speaker 21: couple of scores, but Key One think because we we
- 28:05Speaker 21: don't block them perfect every time, you know, and Georgia
- 28:07Speaker 21: had some good, good plays and players make plays and
- 28:09Speaker 21: Key one would still you know, make a yard or
- 28:12Speaker 21: two off of a negative run. So that that that
- 28:15Speaker 21: really is a really good feeling always to have, especially
- 28:18Speaker 21: on the road.
- 28:20Speaker 22: How have you seen the guys today kind of bounce back,
- 28:23Speaker 22: kind of flush Saturday.
- 28:26Speaker 19: I mean, we worked on that.
- 28:27Speaker 21: It wasn't a real you know, feel good meeting team
- 28:33Speaker 21: meeting this morning, you know in some places to really
- 28:37Speaker 21: point out where it.
- 28:38Speaker 19: Didn't feel like that that should be the effort that
- 28:43Speaker 19: was given.
- 28:45Speaker 21: In any game, let alone when you're in that spot,
- 28:47Speaker 21: and how hard it is to beat Georgia and to
- 28:49Speaker 21: get up two scores and late and a third and
- 28:52Speaker 21: to have that opportunity to remember that forever, you know,
- 28:55Speaker 21: that we let that slip away. So I think that
- 28:57Speaker 21: that meeting went well and I think that they'll be
- 29:02Speaker 21: ready to go this week.

- 31:59Speaker 28: How you doing, Yeah, how are you doing?
- 32:02Speaker 29: Very good?
- 32:02Speaker 28: Thank you so much for asking.
- 32:04Speaker 29: This year at this time, you're essentially in the same
- 32:06Speaker 29: spot that you were this time last year in district.
- 32:08Speaker 29: What are you anticipating for the rest of the season
- 32:10Speaker 29: and what have you learned from last season that you
- 32:12Speaker 29: hope to implement in these final games.
- 32:15Speaker 11: You know, last year we didn't necessarily control our own
- 32:21Speaker 11: own destiny. We had to have some help from some
- 32:23Speaker 11: other teams to be able to still advance and make
- 32:27Speaker 11: the playoffs. This year, all we need is one win
- 32:32Speaker 11: or a loss from a purfort And so this year
- 32:36Speaker 11: we've really been focusing on on us and doing things
- 32:40Speaker 11: our way and controlling our own destiny and not waiting
- 32:45Speaker 11: on somebody else to try to help us out in
- 32:47Speaker 11: the end. And that's kind of what we've been focusing
- 32:50Speaker 11: on the second half of district, knowing kind of how
- 32:53Speaker 11: things are shaking out, and just really going back to
- 32:58Speaker 11: our basics and doing us and whatever that means on
- 33:01Speaker 11: and off the court.
- 33:04Speaker 29: And how is your team's identity different this year from
- 33:06Speaker 29: last year's, whether it be like culture style of play.
- 33:11Speaker 11: So culturally, our girls are a whole lot more bonded.
- 33:14Speaker 11: I think this year we don't have quite as big
- 33:17Speaker 11: of a gap with our classes. Last year, our girls
- 33:21Speaker 11: got along really really well, but there was you could
- 33:25Speaker 11: kind of see some divide within the senior class and
- 33:27Speaker 11: then the junior class, and then the sophomore class, and
- 33:29Speaker 11: then the couple of freshmen that I had. And this
- 33:33Speaker 11: year those groups are very well intermixed. Are our seniors.
- 33:39Speaker 11: They're hanging out with the freshmen, and freshmen with juniors,
- 33:42Speaker 11: and juniors with sophomores, and and they all get along
- 33:45Speaker 11: really really well outside of the court, and that only
- 33:49Speaker 11: makes it that much easier on the court when things
- 33:52Speaker 11: don't go go our way, things aren't going our way.
- 33:57Speaker 11: Us getting along on the court and off the court
- 33:59Speaker 11: makes it easy. Are in tough situations to fight for
- 34:03Speaker 11: your sister that's next to you. And so that's something
- 34:05Speaker 11: that we really worked on, is is fighting for the
- 34:08Speaker 11: person next to you, and playing for more than just yourself,
- 34:15Speaker 11: and playing for everybody around you, and and doing whatever
- 34:18Speaker 11: it takes so the person next to you look good,
- 34:21Speaker 11: looks good than person next to you succeeds and not
- 34:24Speaker 11: worrying about your accolades In the end, Yeah.
- 34:28Speaker 28: Who graduated last year?
- 34:30Speaker 29: That left big shoes to fill and how is your
- 34:32Speaker 29: current roster stept up to fill those shoes.
- 34:36Speaker 11: We lost a big middle blocker last year, Riley Shacker.
- 34:40Speaker 11: She was a beast across the court, across the net
- 34:43Speaker 11: offensively and defensively. She was a very quick, active player.
- 34:48Speaker 11: We also lost an outside hitter, Kennedy Clemens. She found
- 34:53Speaker 11: ways to score in big moments, finding ways no matter
- 34:56Speaker 11: what it took to put the ball away. She was
- 34:59Speaker 11: a very smart player for us. And we lost a
- 35:03Speaker 11: senior libero, Hannah Hernandez, who is just We called her
- 35:09Speaker 11: our tiny but mighty little kid in the back row,
- 35:12Speaker 11: finding ways to get the ball up, sacrificing her body
- 35:15Speaker 11: every single day till all the ball his balls hit
- 35:18Speaker 11: the floor. And so this year we really looked for
- 35:21Speaker 11: kids to fill those spots. I've had two freshmen middles
- 35:26Speaker 11: step up and fill those two fill two middle roles
- 35:30Speaker 11: that you don't see happen very often. You don't typically
- 35:33Speaker 11: see freshmen being in those big time roles. And in
- 35:39Speaker 11: my two middles, my two freshmen have stepped up and
- 35:43Speaker 11: they've done a tremendous job for us, not only offensively
- 35:47Speaker 11: but defensively, being big at the net, blocking ball, flowing
- 35:51Speaker 11: things down, and then finding ways to score in a
- 35:55Speaker 11: district that has big middles on every team, and so
- 36:00Speaker 11: for that to come from two freshmen has been huge.
- 36:03Speaker 11: I've had a junior ds step up and fill the
- 36:08Speaker 11: roles of being a Lavero. She's done things that we
- 36:12Speaker 11: haven't seen in Doomas High School in several years as
- 36:16Speaker 11: far as pushing for balls, keeping things off the floor,
- 36:19Speaker 11: being a leader in the back row. And so those
- 36:25Speaker 11: three components have been huge for us this year after
- 36:29Speaker 11: losing two really big offensive threats, losing Riley in the middle,
- 36:34Speaker 11: losing Hannah in the back row, and I've been really
- 36:37Speaker 11: really proud of my girls for stepping up and filling
- 36:41Speaker 11: those big shoes and almost making it seem like we
- 36:44Speaker 11: didn't lose anybody.
- 36:46Speaker 28: That's awesome. And which team so far have you found
- 36:50Speaker 28: your team struggled the most against and what do you
- 36:52Speaker 28: think challenged your team in those matchups?
- 36:56Speaker 11: I'd probably say Kenyon West Plains or Kenyon Randall. Kenyon
- 37:03Speaker 11: West plays, They've got triggers all across the net. You know,
- 37:07Speaker 11: they've got six offensive threats who are very smart at
- 37:13Speaker 11: the net, and then not only with their offensive that
- 37:16Speaker 11: they put up the big block all the time. You know,
- 37:19Speaker 11: I think West Points is a very well rounded team.
- 37:23Speaker 11: They keep you on your toes defensively, they serve at
- 37:28Speaker 11: you aggressively to try to keep you out of system.
- 37:31Speaker 11: So they've been for one of our bigger, bigger games,
- 37:35Speaker 11: and then I think our next one would be probably
- 37:37Speaker 11: Kenyon Randalls. They've got a junior middle who I don't
- 37:43Speaker 11: know what her vertical is, but it's got to be
- 37:45Speaker 11: something crazy there. There was points in multiple games in
- 37:50Speaker 11: both both games at Randall and at Dumas where we
- 37:54Speaker 11: could not get the ball up and over her. No
- 37:58Speaker 11: matter what we took. It seemed like the ball was
- 38:01Speaker 11: sixing to touch the ceiling and the next thing we know,
- 38:05Speaker 11: she's up there putting hands on it, swing it back
- 38:07Speaker 11: in our face. And so those have been two things
- 38:10Speaker 11: that we've kind of really struggled with, is just getting
- 38:12Speaker 11: by big, big middles that put up a big block
- 38:16Speaker 11: and are a big offensive threat for us.
- 38:20Speaker 29: This year, you have a matchup against Pampa this Friday.
- 38:24Speaker 29: What are you expecting out of them and how do
- 38:26Speaker 29: you think your teams will clash.
- 38:29Speaker 11: Pampa's kind of become a big rivalry game for us.
- 38:32Speaker 11: They've our season's kind of rested with them the last
- 38:35Speaker 11: couple of seasons, with them being our last district matchup.
- 38:41Speaker 11: Pampa's a very scrappy team. They throw things act you
- 38:44Speaker 11: that you don't typically see day in and day out.
- 38:48Speaker 11: They run a different type offense as far as as
- 38:52Speaker 11: non traditional innocent kids don't just play. You don't have
- 38:58Speaker 11: two outsides and two middles and two right sides. A
- 39:02Speaker 11: kid may play outside one rotation, middle the next, and
- 39:06Speaker 11: then right the next rotation, And so that kind of
- 39:09Speaker 11: makes it a little bit trickier for us defensively at
- 39:13Speaker 11: the net in a sense, because you're instead of trying
- 39:16Speaker 11: to watch your hitter, you're trying to figure out who
- 39:19Speaker 11: your hitter is, And so it's a little bit trickier,
- 39:22Speaker 11: but a little bit easier in a sense.
- 39:25Speaker 30: I wholeheartedly believe that.
- 39:27Speaker 11: If my girls will go in to Saturday's game with
- 39:33Speaker 11: a belief that we can, because we can we have before,
- 39:38Speaker 11: but also knowing that Pampa's not gonna roll over and die.
- 39:41Speaker 11: They're not gonna just give us the win just for
- 39:44Speaker 11: the heck of it. You know, they still want to
- 39:45Speaker 11: finish out their season on a high note. If we'll
- 39:48Speaker 11: go in and play our game and be us and
- 39:51Speaker 11: control what we can control, we shouldn't have much of
- 39:56Speaker 11: an issue as long as we will do us. I'm
- 39:58Speaker 11: not saying it's not gonna be a typewall game. Tampa's
- 40:01Speaker 11: gonna score, We're gonna make mistakes. But if we'll just
- 40:04Speaker 11: capitalize on the things that we know how to do
- 40:07Speaker 11: and and be us, it shouldn't be shouldn't be too
- 40:11Speaker 11: much to worry about, right.
- 40:13Speaker 29: I want to shift to your coaches perspective real quick
- 40:15Speaker 29: and talk about a few things. One of the most
- 40:18Speaker 29: more pertinent things, what do you think about the removal
- 40:21Speaker 29: of or the alteration of the double contact fault. I
- 40:24Speaker 29: know you used to be a setter for New Mexico
- 40:27Speaker 29: Military Institute.
- 40:30Speaker 11: Yes, so, I don't know. I go back and forth.
- 40:37Speaker 11: Being a setter at at NAMI and my coach was
- 40:40Speaker 11: an All American setter. I learned a lot about setting
- 40:44Speaker 11: and the finesse and the skill that it takes to
- 40:47Speaker 11: be a setter. And so the setter side of me
- 40:52Speaker 11: is almost frustrated with with that role getting taken out.
- 40:58Speaker 11: I think it takes away from the skill and the
- 41:04Speaker 11: the I don't know to think of that word, but
- 41:06Speaker 11: the skill and the craft to being a better and
- 41:09Speaker 11: learning and doing your job correctly. On the flip side of.
- 41:16Speaker 31: It, being a coach and being.
- 41:18Speaker 11: A teammate, you're kind of like, hey, it doesn't matter.
- 41:21Speaker 11: As long as we keep.
- 41:22Speaker 30: It on our side, we can double. It's not maybe
- 41:25Speaker 30: that big of a deal.
- 41:27Speaker 11: So it's kind of a double edged sword. I guess
- 41:30Speaker 11: it's frustrating also as a coach and a player because
- 41:35Speaker 11: it's a judgment call.
- 41:36Speaker 30: There's not really the ball doesn't light up one way
- 41:42Speaker 30: or the other if it's a double or not a double,
- 41:44Speaker 30: and so.
- 41:47Speaker 11: Some officials don't know that. In my personal opinion, they
- 41:51Speaker 11: don't understand the ruling of a double. Somethink that just
- 41:56Speaker 11: because it comes out spinning it's an automatic ye. Well,
- 42:00Speaker 11: and that's not the case, and so it's kind of
- 42:03Speaker 11: frustrating on on both sides of it.
- 42:06Speaker 30: I guess per sake, it does speed the game up
- 42:09Speaker 30: a whole lot more, and it allows them for more
- 42:14Speaker 30: things to happen, longer rallies, more crazy rallies to.
- 42:18Speaker 11: Happen, and not get caught up on an official's.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Judgment call.
- 42:25Speaker 29: And just in general, how do you use a coach
- 42:27Speaker 29: respond to the evolution of the game, Like, how are
- 42:29Speaker 29: you pushing your team alongside that evolution and continuing to learn.
- 42:34Speaker 11: We watch ourselves in practice, we watch film. As a coach,
- 42:40Speaker 11: I am still in contact with my college coach almost
- 42:43Speaker 11: every single day, talking to her about things that she
- 42:47Speaker 11: may see at the college level and how she's what
- 42:51Speaker 11: she does to change that. So then I can kind
- 42:53Speaker 11: of hopefully try to head that off before it gets
- 42:56Speaker 11: to us. All kinds of I mean, you see all
- 43:01Speaker 11: kinds of things on social media, learning and just constantly
- 43:06Speaker 11: trying to find ways to learn the game. And we
- 43:10Speaker 11: be a learner because you can never stop learning. You
- 43:12Speaker 11: can never know too much about the game of volleyball.
- 43:16Speaker 29: Absolutely, last question for you here, what do you want
- 43:20Speaker 29: for your program looking forward to the next three to
- 43:22Speaker 29: five years and how do you define success on and
- 43:24Speaker 29: off the court.
- 43:28Speaker 11: Looking forward? You know, we always want to be in
- 43:30Speaker 11: the playoffs. We want to end up being a team
- 43:33Speaker 11: that makes long runs regional finals, state semi final, state
- 43:38Speaker 11: finals and put Dumas back on the match for demon
- 43:43Speaker 11: at volleyball and people know, oh, that's dumas like they're
- 43:46Speaker 11: doing good at volleyball. Not something that we always want
- 43:51Speaker 11: in the back of your mind. You always want to
- 43:53Speaker 11: say that success comes from wins and losses, and in
- 43:57Speaker 11: a sense, it does. That's what the outside world sees,
- 44:00Speaker 11: that's what people who aren't in the daily grind of
- 44:05Speaker 11: being a coach and being in this shrealm means. But
- 44:09Speaker 11: I also think that success just comes from can be
- 44:14Speaker 11: defined as what your kids are producing when they leave
- 44:19Speaker 11: your program. Am I producing young women who are going
- 44:25Speaker 11: to be successful in their businesses, whether that's they're creating
- 44:29Speaker 11: their own business and being entrepreneurs, or they're being successful
- 44:33Speaker 11: in whatever career paths they choose. You know, we talk
- 44:38Speaker 11: about being successful moms one day and wives one day,
- 44:42Speaker 11: and and what that means, and when things get tough
- 44:45Speaker 11: in the gym, Now, how that's going to help us
- 44:48Speaker 11: later in life to be able to balance the act
- 44:53Speaker 11: of being a mom and a wife and somebody.
- 44:57Speaker 30: Who goes to work.
- 44:59Speaker 11: And so I think that in the end, at the
- 45:01Speaker 11: end of the day, when we're all done coaching, and
- 45:03Speaker 11: wins and losses don't matter, and somebody's through past you
- 45:07Speaker 11: and your number of wins and all the things. I
- 45:10Speaker 11: really think you have to sit down and be like,
- 45:13Speaker 11: are my girls successful in their lives? Have I taught
- 45:18Speaker 11: them something that they can carry over into the adult
- 45:22Speaker 11: world and be successful and productive human beings of society?
- 45:29Speaker 11: Are we teaching them to help sink on their own
- 45:32Speaker 11: and problem solve and get through tough situations and not
- 45:37Speaker 11: just look for somebody to give them the answer.
- 45:41Speaker 31: And so between that and the relationships that we build,
- 45:45Speaker 31: and it's super fun to see my kids go off
- 45:49Speaker 31: to college and they come home for homecoming or they're
- 45:54Speaker 31: somewhere local and.
- 45:55Speaker 11: They see us at different games and they run up
- 45:58Speaker 11: to us and they give us the huh, then they
- 46:00Speaker 11: text us, or you know, just getting to no longer
- 46:06Speaker 11: be their coach inno sense, but get to start to
- 46:10Speaker 11: be their friend and kind of grow the adult relationship
- 46:15Speaker 11: and the adult adult bond.
- 46:17Speaker 30: With kids that you've you've put lots.
- 46:19Speaker 11: And lots of time and effort into and just let
- 46:25Speaker 11: them grow and flourish into the young young adults and
- 46:28Speaker 11: young women.
- 46:30Speaker 30: That we hope to build is probably.
- 46:32Speaker 11: One of the funnest parts. And what I think is
- 46:35Speaker 11: kind of how you value and and look at success
- 46:39Speaker 11: half the wins and.
- 46:40Speaker 28: Losses beautifully put. Thank you so much for your time.
- 46:45Speaker 11: Absolutely thank you for having me.
- 46:47Speaker 28: Absolutely good luck this Friday.
- 46:49Speaker 11: Uh huh, thank you.

- 48:52Speaker 9: score of forty four to twenty two. Dallas has to
- 48:54Speaker 9: turn the page, though, because they are taking on a
- 48:56Speaker 9: team that scored thirty three points in the fourth quarter
- 48:59Speaker 9: alone last week in the Denver Broncos head coach Brian
- 49:02Speaker 9: Schottenheimer spoke today on what it will be adjusting to

- 49:18Speaker 35: you know, a couple of days earlier anything like that.
- 49:20Speaker 35: You go out there, you play the game, and you
- 49:22Speaker 35: know we'll have oxygen and stuff ready for those guys.
- 49:24Speaker 35: It's a little different, but I don't want to overstate it.

- 52:38Speaker 1: All Right, we heard Gene Chiswick earlier from the SEC
- 52:44Speaker 1: Network breaking down the game Saturday night. Now we are
- 52:49Speaker 1: going to hear from A and M defensive back Dalton
- 52:53Speaker 1: Brooks when.
- 52:55Speaker 37: Coach said, hey, we're not even going to have a
- 52:57Speaker 37: defensive players of the of the week or anything like that.
- 53:00Speaker 38: That, uh, you know, it wasn't a bad reaction by
- 53:04Speaker 38: anybody on the team. You know, we knew what we did, like,
- 53:07Speaker 38: we knew how the game went. Wasn't our best game,
- 53:09Speaker 38: So nobody was really overwhelmed anything like that. We knew
- 53:12Speaker 38: what we had to get done and we didn't complete
- 53:14Speaker 38: that job fully.
- 53:14Speaker 37: What do y'all have to do moving forward to be
- 53:16Speaker 37: the kind of defensive y'all want to be in candy.
- 53:19Speaker 38: Continue to communicate at a high level.
- 53:21Speaker 19: That's really what it takes.
- 53:22Speaker 38: As long as we communicate at a high level and
- 53:24Speaker 38: really bond together as one as a defense, I think
- 53:26Speaker 38: we'll be fine.
- 53:27Speaker 37: You were really productive in that game. Do you feel
- 53:30Speaker 37: like you played as well as your statistics indicate that
- 53:33Speaker 37: you did.
- 53:34Speaker 31: Uh?
- 53:34Speaker 38: You know, you always feel like you played well, and
- 53:35Speaker 38: you always want to feel like you play well. So
- 53:37Speaker 38: I will say I played well, I would say, but
- 53:39Speaker 38: not I wouldn't say to the team standard.
- 53:41Speaker 8: You know, we didn't get it really.
- 53:42Speaker 38: Done on defense, So I would say I played an
- 53:44Speaker 38: okay game.
- 53:45Speaker 8: How would you How.
- 53:46Speaker 9: Would you say your season?
- 53:47Speaker 8: Did? You? Was gone?
- 53:48Speaker 2: Is just the way that or some of the things.
- 53:50Speaker 8: That you've done well this season?
- 53:51Speaker 19: Uh?
- 53:52Speaker 38: My season, I mean my season hasn't. I wouldn't say
- 53:54Speaker 38: it's been a bad season, but it hasn't been a
- 53:56Speaker 38: great season either. But you know, it's kind of still
- 53:58Speaker 38: in the middle. So it could go from here.
- 54:00Speaker 9: But jall, God said that he talk to you guys
- 54:03Speaker 9: yesterday and kind of gave a tough message to the defense.
- 54:07Speaker 28: What was kind of said in.
- 54:08Speaker 38: That and how well it was kind of kind of
- 54:11Speaker 38: a real message. You know, he just kind of kept
- 54:12Speaker 38: it real with us, like we didn't have the game
- 54:14Speaker 38: that we you know, we should have had.
- 54:16Speaker 19: But it is what it is.
- 54:17Speaker 38: You know, he gave us a real message, something that
- 54:18Speaker 38: we needed to hear, not what we wanted to hear.
- 54:20Speaker 1: You know how many he talks about, you know, games,
- 54:22Speaker 1: I feel you guys already have tough practices.
- 54:24Speaker 4: But did they crank up that all after a performance
- 54:26Speaker 4: like that?
- 54:27Speaker 38: Is that kind of you know, we stayed the same,
- 54:28Speaker 38: So it's the same practice, you know, it's the practice.
- 54:31Speaker 38: Isn't what makes you know what I'm saying makes the game,
- 54:33Speaker 38: But we do, we do try to crank it up
- 54:35Speaker 38: in practice. You know, that's the natural human reaction. You know,
- 54:37Speaker 38: you have a bad game, you crank it up in practice.
- 54:39Speaker 38: So it's been pretty crank crunked up in practice this week.
- 54:42Speaker 37: When you consider your again, your personal performance this year,
- 54:46Speaker 37: what do you feel like you're doing doing really well?
- 54:49Speaker 37: And are there any things that you can look at say, okay,
- 54:51Speaker 37: this is what I want to get better.
- 54:53Speaker 12: Uh.
- 54:53Speaker 38: For me, I want to grow as a communicator, you know,
- 54:55Speaker 38: I want to be more of a leader on the defense,
- 54:56Speaker 38: you know, make more of a stand when all eleven
- 54:59Speaker 38: is out there, everybody, he's looking at me. I'm the safety.
- 55:01Speaker 38: I gotta make big decisions for the defense. So I
- 55:03Speaker 38: wanna be able to do that with more confidence.
- 55:05Speaker 14: From a defensive spent at stand point.
- 55:07Speaker 19: That's the biggest difference you're preparing for.
- 55:09Speaker 33: Taylor Green deep heard the quarter passal like hearing those money.
- 55:11Speaker 38: Uh you know, I mean he Taylor Green, He's a
- 55:14Speaker 38: He's a runner and that's myer. He's more of a
- 55:16Speaker 38: a a smarter quarterback. He could read the defense more
- 55:18Speaker 38: things like that. And he's a good quarterback. So if
- 55:20Speaker 38: if you give him the look, he'll take the He'll
- 55:22Speaker 38: take the easy shots every day.
- 55:24Speaker 8: It's all good. More heated. It is the utual when
- 55:26Speaker 8: you just talk to you guys.
- 55:28Speaker 38: Uh, you know he I wouldn't say he's w he
- 55:29Speaker 38: was more heated, but he was level. You know, he
- 55:31Speaker 38: kept it real with us. It wasn't him going over
- 55:33Speaker 38: the top of He was just giving us a real message.
- 55:35Speaker 22: How correctible do you think the the state shall have?
- 55:37Speaker 9: More?
- 55:38Speaker 8: Like?
- 55:38Speaker 19: How easy do you think he'll beat it?
- 55:40Speaker 38: The commn m Oh, very easy?
- 55:41Speaker 25: You know it was it was on us.
- 55:42Speaker 8: It wasn't.
- 55:43Speaker 4: It wasn't.
- 55:44Speaker 38: Uh, it wasn't anybody like in particular, none of that.
- 55:47Speaker 38: It was just the whole defense as a whole.
- 55:49Speaker 8: You know.
