- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:11Speaker 1: Bellie Nation, Welcome to Just the Cast. My name is
- 0:15Speaker 1: Michael Bennett. On this Wednesday, Mayson sext Day. You know,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I've often wondered, as you can tell, Justin Kaylen is
- 0:22Speaker 1: with me this morning. We still miss Matthew. But every
- 0:25Speaker 1: now and then I think, oh man, where's Matthew. He's
- 0:27Speaker 1: not here, but anyway, he's doing better things, I guess
- 0:32Speaker 1: than being with Michael Bennett. Justin Kaylen. It's kind of
- 0:35Speaker 1: sad Michael Bennett right now, isn't it a little bit? Yeah?
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't want to be because you just made me
- 0:40Speaker 1: so happy a couple of minutes ago. Well, by reading
- 0:43Speaker 1: a text from someone else, I've got to pinpoint who
- 0:46Speaker 1: that guy was, because that's we don't know who it is.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Do we let me see if I can try to
- 0:53Speaker 1: figure it out. That did that made me very It
- 0:55Speaker 1: was our Wisconsin text. Oh it is okay, because that
- 0:58Speaker 1: guy comes up with random text every now and then
- 1:01Speaker 1: asking us questions. I believe that's him. But I did
- 1:04Speaker 1: enjoy that, sou But if you want to join us,
- 1:06Speaker 1: you can do that at five oh two three four
- 1:08Speaker 1: fourteen fifty by calling in. If you want to text
- 1:10Speaker 1: us on the Whiskey Thief text line, you can do
- 1:12Speaker 1: that at five oh two four to one four fourteen fifty,
- 1:15Speaker 1: or you can tweak me at Just to Catch Radio,
- 1:18Speaker 1: as well as you can watch me on YouTube at
- 1:22Speaker 1: Big X Sports Radio Louisville. Hold on, I'm saying it. No,
- 1:29Speaker 1: I didn't forget. I'm just I'm hesitating because I want
- 1:31Speaker 1: people to be able to catch up because sometimes I
- 1:34Speaker 1: tend to talk a little too loud. I mean a little, well,
- 1:37Speaker 1: a little too loud, it's a given. But I mean
- 1:39Speaker 1: a little too slow fast, maybe a little too fast,
- 1:43Speaker 1: one of the above. Okay, I'll get it right in
- 1:46Speaker 1: justice guy, I can't hear, but you can't hear. No,
- 1:49Speaker 1: I can't hear myself. That's the one thing I like here.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I'm good now, I adjusted it my puck. Yeah, I
- 1:56Speaker 1: just want to make sure I can do Yeah, don't
- 1:57Speaker 1: turn me up. So, but id rather be turned down
- 2:01Speaker 1: than up? But should I say? Oh? I shouldn't say
- 2:04Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. It's just a joke eight o'clock
- 2:06Speaker 1: in the morning. People don't want to hear that kind
- 2:08Speaker 1: of stuff. But anyway, what a weird start.
- 2:11Speaker 2: To the show.
- 2:12Speaker 1: By the way I'm starting, I'm driving in this morning.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I want I want to ask you a very pertinent question, okay,
- 2:18Speaker 1: and I want your honest answer when you hear this.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I don't want to give you honest I don't want
- 2:23Speaker 1: you know justin Kaitlin that wants to you know, be
- 2:26Speaker 1: in Switzerland or anything like that. I want to know
- 2:29Speaker 1: your honest opinion as far as what you think of
- 2:33Speaker 1: these particular bumper stickers. As I'm driving in, I see
- 2:38Speaker 1: a car coming in and has a sticker on the
- 2:42Speaker 1: back please be careful, new driver, and in the car
- 2:48Speaker 1: in front of him has a bumper sticker that says
- 2:52Speaker 1: baby on board, please be safe. How does that make
- 2:58Speaker 1: you feel when you see those bumper stickers. Does it
- 3:02Speaker 1: make you, oh, I need to be careful around these
- 3:04Speaker 1: cars or does it make you want to do the
- 3:08Speaker 1: absolute opposite or do you just like, oh, whatever, dude,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'm just driving on.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So I that doesn't change my driving habits.
- 3:16Speaker 1: It doesn't.
- 3:17Speaker 2: But I like to think that I'm pretty safe considerate
- 3:21Speaker 2: driver ninety nine percent of the time, so that yeah,
- 3:25Speaker 2: I mean, it doesn't do anything to affect me. Now,
- 3:28Speaker 2: the issue I have with the student driver ones. Yes,
- 3:32Speaker 2: ninety nine percent of the time. When you go by them,
- 3:36Speaker 2: it's this eighty year old man and it's like, okay,
- 3:40Speaker 2: you're you're the new driver, right, okay, like right, there's
- 3:43Speaker 2: rarely ever a student actually driving those cars. Yes, but
- 3:47Speaker 2: the baby ones, yeah, I mean I don't. That doesn't
- 3:49Speaker 2: really affect me because, like I said, I'm typically a
- 3:51Speaker 2: pretty safe drive.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Now.
- 3:52Speaker 2: On my way here this morning, right, I was in
- 3:55Speaker 2: the left lane going down sixty four. I almost called Jamie.
- 3:58Speaker 2: If I would have had Jamie's no number in my phone,
- 4:01Speaker 2: one thousand percent would have called him. So I'm in
- 4:04Speaker 2: the left lane and there is a car that I'm
- 4:07Speaker 2: passing who's in the right lane. But there's I'm not
- 4:10Speaker 2: caught up to that car yet, Like I haven't gotten
- 4:13Speaker 2: to the point where I'm at his back bumper. All
- 4:16Speaker 2: of a sudden, out of absolutely nowhere, have no clue
- 4:19Speaker 2: where this car even came from. A challenger goes between
- 4:24Speaker 2: my front bumper and the back bumper of the car
- 4:27Speaker 2: that was in the right driving like a complete buffoon
- 4:32Speaker 2: for the next two or three minutes until he got
- 4:34Speaker 2: out of my sight. Yes, like what an absolute more
- 4:37Speaker 2: that dude was gonna kill somebody.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Yes, driving like that happened to me Monday on the
- 4:41Speaker 1: way the airport that uh uh, let me think like
- 4:44Speaker 1: fur to five taking my son to the airport. Somebody
- 4:48Speaker 1: was driving down the waters and I swore they were
- 4:50Speaker 1: going to have a wreck because they did the exact
- 4:52Speaker 1: same thing to just cut somebody off, almost hit the
- 4:55Speaker 1: bumper as somebody else got in the right lane, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: I don't know how they didn't clip each other.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I don't know how he didn't hit one of us.
- 5:02Speaker 1: That has happened to me. I have seen a wreck
- 5:06Speaker 1: right literally right behind me just north of Atlanta, Georgia,
- 5:10Speaker 1: on I seventy five, where a car was cutting in
- 5:13Speaker 1: and out through the traffic and it clipped a car
- 5:16Speaker 1: behind me, and I literally saw it turn and flip,
- 5:20Speaker 1: and I'm like, Patricia, don't panic, there isn't a really
- 5:25Speaker 1: bad accident happening behind us. I'm gonna need to pull
- 5:29Speaker 1: over because I gotta settle down. It made it shook
- 5:33Speaker 1: me up watching that accident literally happen right behind me.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I've never had that happen before. I've seen accidents. I've
- 5:42Speaker 1: seen two really bad accidents. One was that when another
- 5:45Speaker 1: one was a motorcycle running up under a semi trip.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Oh no, that was that.
- 5:49Speaker 1: That might have been the worst where I've had to
- 5:52Speaker 1: literally pull over. And it happened right there on I
- 5:55Speaker 1: seventy five over in Lexington, right at Newtown Pike, and
- 5:59Speaker 1: I had to pull over, and I had to give
- 6:01Speaker 1: myself a few minutes. It's like I just like, well,
- 6:04Speaker 1: let me drive, let me drive. I'm like, no, just
- 6:06Speaker 1: give me a couple of minutes. And then we got
- 6:09Speaker 1: back in the car and drove on. I just still
- 6:11Speaker 1: to this day, I got cold chills thinking about it
- 6:13Speaker 1: right now.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's free.
- 6:14Speaker 1: It's like first thing I think of is I hope
- 6:16Speaker 1: everybody's all right. But yeah, the people that are driving
- 6:20Speaker 1: here and just cutting in and out of the track, I.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Just I don't get it. Like if you're late, I
- 6:25Speaker 2: don't know, maybe leave earlier, Like, don't don't put other
- 6:28Speaker 2: other people's lives in peril because you're driving like mora right.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And it's probably got a sticker on the back of
- 6:33Speaker 1: it says a baby on board to police drive safe.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You know that's who it probably is. I mean, I
- 6:38Speaker 1: don't get those stickers. I don't get why people think
- 6:41Speaker 1: they're gonna drive safer just because they had that sticker
- 6:44Speaker 1: on board. Because you know, you see the new drivers. Man,
- 6:48Speaker 1: they got both hands on the wheel. They're sitting up straight.
- 6:51Speaker 1: You can tell they're uncomfortable, and that kind of feel
- 6:53Speaker 1: bad for them because you know their parents are probably
- 6:56Speaker 1: right next to them just criticizing them.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I mean, that's honestly, you just described the way I drive?
- 7:01Speaker 2: Is it really ninety percent of the time? Michael, I'm
- 7:05Speaker 2: ten and two. Are you really swear not?
- 7:08Speaker 3: Me?
- 7:08Speaker 2: And I am like I'm comfortable when I drive. But
- 7:11Speaker 2: if you were to see me and look in my
- 7:13Speaker 2: car as I'm driving, I probably look very similar, Like
- 7:16Speaker 2: I probably don't look comfortable. I sit really close to
- 7:19Speaker 2: the steering wheel. All my buddies make fun of me
- 7:22Speaker 2: for it, but yeah, I'm.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Very much you sit very much most to the steering wheel.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah, because I drive a stick so I gotta be
- 7:28Speaker 2: able to push down the clutch and my legs aren't
- 7:31Speaker 2: that long, so unfortunately I have to sit best to
- 7:34Speaker 2: the steering wheel.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Maybe you should buy an automatic next time. Really, i'd
- 7:41Speaker 1: fall asleep. I mean, what cars are out there that
- 7:43Speaker 1: you can buy a manual transmission?
- 7:46Speaker 2: I know, but I'll find one, will you really?
- 7:50Speaker 1: You you drive a nice car. I like the Hyundai,
- 7:53Speaker 1: but I didn't know you could buy an Hyundai that
- 7:56Speaker 1: is a manual transmission.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Well I just so. I got that car from Carmack,
- 8:00Speaker 2: so they make it really easy to search or automatic
- 8:05Speaker 2: or manual transmission. So yeah, literally, that was the first
- 8:08Speaker 2: thing I did when I got that cars. I searched
- 8:10Speaker 2: manual transition for transmission. Which cars could I get? That's
- 8:14Speaker 2: the one I settled on.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeah, because I would like to have one. I've always
- 8:18Speaker 1: let me think, I've never owned a manual, but I
- 8:21Speaker 1: know how to drive it. I've always enjoyed driving a manual.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I always wanted a Jeep Wrangler with a manual sure transmission,
- 8:30Speaker 1: and I thought, the other car, my dream car is
- 8:32Speaker 1: a Portion nine to eleven with a manual transmission turbo. Yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 1: oh yeah absolutely, And that's the way. I don't know
- 8:39Speaker 1: where I would drive a manual turbo Porsche, but you know,
- 8:43Speaker 1: you could take it down to that bolting green track that.
- 8:46Speaker 2: You definitely have to go out west, to that road
- 8:50Speaker 2: that has no speed limit. I would love nothing more.
- 8:54Speaker 1: See there's a Porsche dealership right there at the Atlanta
- 8:57Speaker 1: airport right off five seventy five, and I'm always looking
- 8:59Speaker 1: at that and I'm like, this is just awesome. I
- 9:03Speaker 1: physically could not drive an automatic. I would just it's
- 9:06Speaker 1: so boring. Really, okay, I need something to do while
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm driving. Yeah, I bought my wife a car that
- 9:12Speaker 1: was way too fast, and every time it turned around,
- 9:15Speaker 1: she's going through wheels, which is another The wheels were
- 9:19Speaker 1: two thousand dollars. It's like, come on, man.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And tell her to stop doing burnout exactly.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Boy, you talk about a lead foot. I mean, she
- 9:29Speaker 1: drives so much fast and I drive kind of fast.
- 9:31Speaker 1: She drives so much faster than me, and of course
- 9:34Speaker 1: that is like, Patricia, we can't keep this car. And
- 9:37Speaker 1: she's like, well, I'm tired of buying new wheels, so
- 9:39Speaker 1: you're buying Michael Bennett's tired of buying new wheels. So
- 9:43Speaker 1: we got Thank goodness, we got rid of that car
- 9:45Speaker 1: and I got her suv. She's gone from one extreme
- 9:48Speaker 1: to another, a two a door convertible to a gigantic suv.
- 9:52Speaker 1: She had a convertible. Yeah it was. It was a
- 9:55Speaker 1: nice car, but it was a pain in the butt.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I didn't I it was a a BMW six fifty
- 10:01Speaker 1: convertible turbo and man, that thing flew. The only mistake
- 10:06Speaker 1: is that it was automatic, but it flew.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't have a car like that.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Now she has this Toyota Sequoia and that engine sounds
- 10:15Speaker 1: so good when you get it repped up. I love it.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So anyway, all right, Well, I'm glad to hear you,
- 10:22Speaker 1: because with the stickers it drives me nuts. I drive
- 10:25Speaker 1: fast around them.
- 10:26Speaker 2: That's what you're not supposed to do.
- 10:29Speaker 1: But those stickers irritate me. They just get on my nerves.
- 10:31Speaker 2: I don't like the ones that are like the family,
- 10:35Speaker 2: ones that have like the mom and the dad, and
- 10:38Speaker 2: like the dolls. Is that the worst one? Those are
- 10:41Speaker 2: the ones that drive me the most insane. I did
- 10:43Speaker 2: see one yesterday that made me laugh. It said, uh,
- 10:46Speaker 2: I was an honor student. I don't know what happened.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I thought that one was pretty good. Yeah, all right,
- 10:54Speaker 1: so you talk about those, you know, you got the
- 10:56Speaker 1: stickers with the people that love Star Wars and all
- 10:59Speaker 1: the people the families dressed up in Star Wars outfits.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Then for a time period you had people that would
- 11:05Speaker 1: put like eighteen point whatever or twenty six point two,
- 11:10Speaker 1: knowing you would know.
- 11:12Speaker 2: That congratula exactly.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I love the one that the sticker that came out
- 11:19Speaker 1: zero point zero. Underneath it said I don't run. That
- 11:23Speaker 1: to me was the biggest slam. I listen, I wanted
- 11:27Speaker 1: to get out of the car and give that guy
- 11:28Speaker 1: a high five. When I saw that, I thought those
- 11:30Speaker 1: were fantastic. Those are And it's not the US one
- 11:35Speaker 1: zero point zero in Key West, Okay, it was. It
- 11:38Speaker 1: said underneath it, I don't run. That made me so
- 11:41Speaker 1: you ever been a bumper sticker guy?
- 11:42Speaker 4: No?
- 11:43Speaker 1: Neither, No, because my dad always said, don't put bumper
- 11:46Speaker 1: stickers on your car. It devalues your car because it
- 11:49Speaker 1: takes the paint off when you try to take it off.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Is that true? It takes the I don't know. I've
- 11:53Speaker 2: never been a bumper sticker guy, but I assume it
- 11:55Speaker 2: probably is. Now those cars that have their whole back
- 11:59Speaker 2: bumper just full of ridiculous stickers, I will never understand that.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Well, have you seen the car that has stickers all over?
- 12:07Speaker 1: There are a couple of cars in Louisville that literally
- 12:10Speaker 1: have stickers all over their car. And and to me,
- 12:13Speaker 1: I think, how are you going to resell that car.
- 12:15Speaker 2: There's one that rides around my house and it's this
- 12:20Speaker 2: guy with this crazy voice. But he's got it.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I never smoked the day in his He's got.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Like Jesus all over this car, Jesus, Bible versus. And
- 12:30Speaker 2: he'll literally just stand out in front of stores and
- 12:33Speaker 2: just be like, Jesus is your Savior, and screen like
- 12:36Speaker 2: you can hear him from blocks and blocks away. Real
- 12:39Speaker 2: dude is so loud. Yeah, But every time I see
- 12:43Speaker 2: that car, I'm like, well, there he is. I wonder
- 12:45Speaker 2: what he's up to today. So when he cuts you off,
- 12:48Speaker 2: are you yelling Jesus?
- 12:50Speaker 1: No? So I don't.
- 12:51Speaker 2: That's the funny thing is I don't really ever see
- 12:53Speaker 2: him driving it.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Oh you don't. We'll just see the car in different locations.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Is that what happens? Ever seen him driving this case?
- 13:01Speaker 1: He's got some manna and some wine there with him.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I'm not sure what's going on. Uh huh.
- 13:05Speaker 2: His voice scares Really you don't like that kind of voice.
- 13:09Speaker 1: That's a perfect voice to be out there telling it's creepy,
- 13:11Speaker 1: sounds more like satan. But I mean, I'm sure he's
- 13:16Speaker 1: doing what he thinks he believes is right. No, No,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I'm not hate for him. I'm not hating. No, but
- 13:21Speaker 1: my kind of voice that the voice gave me. It
- 13:23Speaker 1: sounds like you're possessed, and I'm like, he does, poor guy. Yeah,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I don't know. I just I don't. I'm gonna go
- 13:31Speaker 1: ahead and assume he's dabbled in drugs. Oh, you think
- 13:35Speaker 1: it's drugs not cigarettes? I thought, isn't it that the
- 13:39Speaker 1: reason John Mellencamp sings the way he does is because
- 13:42Speaker 1: of cigarettes.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I believe that.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Yeah. And if he hadn't smoked cigarettes so much, he
- 13:47Speaker 1: wouldn't had the voice he has. I believe that. Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Of course. You know, he's on tour right now and
- 13:52Speaker 1: he's playing every two and a half hours, is what
- 13:55Speaker 1: he said. He's doing two and a half hours, two
- 13:57Speaker 1: and a half hours, Yes, and he's singing nothing but
- 14:00Speaker 1: the hits. He says. That's how many hits I have.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I think it's awesome as long as he's not the
- 14:06Speaker 1: old grouch that wants to, you know, tell you about
- 14:08Speaker 1: a thirty minute political speech or any kind of speech.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I want to hear you sing.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I just I don't have an interest in seeing John Mellencamp.
- 14:16Speaker 2: You don't really at this age No five years ago. Yeah, sure,
- 14:20Speaker 2: I'm in.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He was awesome. Yeah, he was one of my favorites
- 14:24Speaker 1: back in the day. Yeah today, I don't know, but
- 14:26Speaker 1: he sounds I've heard him singing a couple of songs
- 14:29Speaker 1: and he sounds reasonably good. He's okay. Yeah, oh come on,
- 14:34Speaker 1: I mean he's not. He's not his normal self, but
- 14:37Speaker 1: he does. The Rolling Stones have announced they're having a
- 14:40Speaker 1: new album come out. Why do you shake? Their last
- 14:45Speaker 1: one was fantastic?
- 14:46Speaker 2: How old are those guys?
- 14:47Speaker 1: They're in their eighties right? Why people want to hear it?
- 14:52Speaker 3: All?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Right? Well, I don't get you, I really don't. If
- 14:56Speaker 1: they sound good, they're putting out a good product, why
- 14:59Speaker 1: do you not want to listen? Their last album was
- 15:01Speaker 1: literally fantastic.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Look, every job has its limitations and how long you
- 15:05Speaker 2: can do it right. Eventually you just got to let
- 15:07Speaker 2: it go and retire.
- 15:09Speaker 1: They don't want to retire. They're enjoying what they do
- 15:12Speaker 1: and they're putting out good music. Why do you want
- 15:15Speaker 1: them retire? If people are literally still enjoying.
- 15:18Speaker 2: There, if people are still clamoring for it, then I
- 15:19Speaker 2: can't hate on the exactly.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And I'm right there, I'm like put out another one
- 15:24Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to. We're gonna play some of their
- 15:26Speaker 1: music because of that. Now, okay, the rest of the week,
- 15:29Speaker 1: I'm sending you a song that's nothing but Rolling Stones
- 15:32Speaker 1: and their new stuff. All four of them, all four
- 15:35Speaker 1: of them. Okay, whatever, Right now, you just be in
- 15:38Speaker 1: a jerk. I do want to talk about this. I
- 15:41Speaker 1: don't know if you saw it yesterday or not. Mark
- 15:43Speaker 1: Pope put out a tweet yesterday talking about how much
- 15:47Speaker 1: he's missed Big Blue Nation because he hasn't you know,
- 15:50Speaker 1: his last news conference, media conference with Tom Leech and
- 15:57Speaker 1: the last Mark Pope show he did, he didn't take
- 16:01Speaker 1: any questions, and now he gets on Twitter and says,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I am ready, I've missed you, Big Blue Nation. I'm
- 16:08Speaker 1: ready to take your questions, and is asking people to
- 16:12Speaker 1: tweet him back for questions. Whatever questions you have, he
- 16:18Speaker 1: will answer.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Okay.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Do you like that he is doing this? Does it
- 16:23Speaker 1: sound a little on the cheesy side? How do you
- 16:27Speaker 1: respond to something like this?
- 16:28Speaker 2: I do like that he's doing this. However, with some
- 16:33Speaker 2: of the answers that he's given in the past, I
- 16:36Speaker 2: would kind of I would wonder about the legitimacy of
- 16:40Speaker 2: some of the answers.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Really, yeah, I mean he's getting a lot of questions.
- 16:45Speaker 1: How is he going to answer every one of them?
- 16:48Speaker 1: Is he just going to pick and choose which ones
- 16:50Speaker 1: he wants to answer?
- 16:51Speaker 2: I mean, if he said he was gonna answer them all,
- 16:52Speaker 2: he's gonna He's got it.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I don't know. I want you to pull it up
- 16:56Speaker 1: when we come back from break. I want you to
- 16:58Speaker 1: play it and see what he says and see if
- 17:01Speaker 1: you think he's being sincere about this or you think
- 17:04Speaker 1: he's not. But I found it rather interesting. This is
- 17:07Speaker 1: an interesting way to go about asking the fan base that, really,
- 17:14Speaker 1: how much do you think of the fan base is
- 17:16Speaker 1: happy with him? How much do you think the fan
- 17:19Speaker 1: base is indifferent? And how much do you think the
- 17:22Speaker 1: fan base is really upset with him? Break it down
- 17:26Speaker 1: in three different because I really tend to believe that.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I hate to say this. I think fifty percent of
- 17:33Speaker 1: the fan base is not happy with Mark Pope. I
- 17:38Speaker 1: think that I'd say fifty you would, I would say
- 17:42Speaker 1: that thirty five percent of them are happy with him,
- 17:45Speaker 1: and then the rest are indifferent.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I would say twenty percents happy.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Oh you're even lower. Yeah, Wow, Okay, that's even worse.
- 17:58Speaker 1: All right, then, well, I'd like to pose the question
- 18:01Speaker 1: to our listeners right now, are you happy, are you upset?
- 18:06Speaker 1: Or are you indifferent? Right now? Because I'm trying to
- 18:09Speaker 1: be indifferent. I'm not happy, I'm not upset. I'm just
- 18:14Speaker 1: kind of in the middle right now because i want
- 18:17Speaker 1: to see how the rest of the team plays out.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And then I gotta see and I'm not gonna I'll
- 18:23Speaker 1: have some comments about it, but I want to see
- 18:25Speaker 1: how they play before I really come out and say, Okay,
- 18:29Speaker 1: this just isn't working. But does Mark Pope to be
- 18:32Speaker 1: You know, I mentioned that I posed this question a
- 18:34Speaker 1: couple of days ago. Does Mark Pope deserve to be
- 18:36Speaker 1: on the hot seat right now? And I say, yeah,
- 18:40Speaker 1: he definitely does. And that's not a negative, that's not
- 18:44Speaker 1: a positive. That's just where we are. That is the
- 18:47Speaker 1: reality of Mark Pope's situation as head coach at the
- 18:50Speaker 1: University of Kentucky. Let's go ahead and take our first break.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Five O two three four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 18:54Speaker 1: call in five oh two four to one four fourteen fifty.
- 18:57Speaker 1: If you want to text in on a whiskey t
- 18:59Speaker 1: text line, or you can just the cat radio. Uh,
- 19:02Speaker 1: there's all kinds of things I wanted to talk about today,
- 19:04Speaker 1: including man, this video of Jared Vanderbilt last night playing
- 19:10Speaker 1: for the Lakers against the Thunder Ugly, Ugly, Ugly. I
- 19:14Speaker 1: don't know if you saw it or not. You've got
- 19:16Speaker 1: to go look at it. It sounds like I want to say, no,
- 19:18Speaker 1: it isn't. And uh, is Malacamarino going to stay in
- 19:22Speaker 1: the draft? I mean, that's now a really legitimate question.
- 19:26Speaker 1: So we'll talk about that too. Stay right there. This
- 19:29Speaker 1: is just the Cats. We got more to.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Count, Big Blue Nation. It has been a I'm busy
- 20:01Speaker 5: six weeks and I've missed you. It's time to talk
- 20:04Speaker 5: some hoops. So drop a question below and I'll hit
- 20:07Speaker 5: you back. Go Cats, Big Blue Nas.
- 20:11Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 20:13Speaker 2: I mean? It's just him saying, drop your questions below, Yeah, exactly,
- 20:18Speaker 2: I mean, I've missed you.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I don't know what to think of this. I honestly don't.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Part of me says I admire him for doing this.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Part of me thinks, okay, is this a good idea?
- 20:33Speaker 1: Part of me thinks, okay, that's really nice him to
- 20:35Speaker 1: do this.
- 20:36Speaker 2: But to look how many questions were asking.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Oh my yeah, it's twenty three hundred questions that should
- 20:46Speaker 1: tell you, right, I don't like your team because he
- 20:48Speaker 1: ain't gonna have any time exactly.
- 20:52Speaker 6: I mean.
- 20:53Speaker 1: One person says, what qualifies you after two seasons to
- 20:56Speaker 1: be the head coach of Kentucky next year? Do you
- 20:59Speaker 1: still understand the assignment? One person said, what happened before
- 21:04Speaker 1: the Louisville game? I think that's a fair question right there.
- 21:07Speaker 1: For sure, people want to know are we winning number
- 21:11Speaker 1: nine next year? Only question that matters to me? I
- 21:14Speaker 1: state of Louisville question. You gotta tell me, no, I
- 21:18Speaker 1: do not.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Would you theoretically be interested in a lifetime extension.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Only if Kenny Payne comes back?
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yes?
- 21:28Speaker 1: The fan base is clearly worried. What would you say
- 21:31Speaker 1: to them to ease their fears? I think that's a
- 21:33Speaker 1: great question. Here's a great one for me. Can you
- 21:37Speaker 1: please wear a body cam during recruitment visits? Oh my gosh, no,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you cannot do that. That's what I'd be interested.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Would it? Really?
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Because I need to know, like, what's going wrong? Why?
- 21:51Speaker 1: Why can't you.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Lock down any of these guys? Something is happening in
- 21:54Speaker 2: those meetings and I would just be I'm curious to
- 21:57Speaker 2: what that is.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Well, yeah, you're right, I mean, what is it? What
- 22:06Speaker 1: is turning some of these recruits off? Why are they
- 22:09Speaker 1: saying no? I mean there are a number of questions
- 22:13Speaker 1: I would I mean, one person says, what are your
- 22:15Speaker 1: thoughts on this? And gives a question, says ranking Louisville
- 22:18Speaker 1: number one six commits, Tennessee number two seven commits, what's
- 22:22Speaker 1: your specific plan to get Kentucky back to consistently competing
- 22:25Speaker 1: for final fours in national titles? I think that's a
- 22:28Speaker 1: great question. Here's a good one. Have you ever had
- 22:31Speaker 1: any players or recruits mentioned how toxic BBN is?
- 22:35Speaker 2: I think that's a fair question. I'd be curious to
- 22:37Speaker 2: know the answer.
- 22:38Speaker 1: But I don't think it's just UK. I mean a
- 22:41Speaker 1: lot of people pick on UK. But you know what,
- 22:44Speaker 1: LSU fans are nutty, Tennessee fans are nutty. Duke fans
- 22:47Speaker 1: are nutty. One Florida fan says, how does it feel
- 22:50Speaker 1: to be owned by Todd Golden? Come on now, anyway?
- 22:56Speaker 1: I just I looked at this and I thought, holy
- 22:58Speaker 1: col this can't be good. When I see probably just
- 23:03Speaker 1: as many fans out there trolling this video. Then I
- 23:08Speaker 1: do see actual fans asking really good questions. So I
- 23:15Speaker 1: don't know what to think of it. So five O
- 23:17Speaker 1: two three four fourteen fifty. We got a phone call.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Who's up? I can't hear you. Oh sorry, we got John, John?
- 23:23Speaker 2: What's up? John?
- 23:25Speaker 6: Hey, Michael and justin. Good morning guys, Good morning. I'm Michael.
- 23:32Speaker 6: I didn't get the results I wanted in my election.
- 23:34Speaker 6: I got seven out of nineteenth. Man, I need it.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Oh, I'm feel gry to hear that.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I needed fifty votes to tie in fifty one
- 23:42Speaker 6: to get that fifth place. Didn't happen. But I'll still
- 23:45Speaker 6: be appointed by the party to be a state delegate. Hey,
- 23:47Speaker 6: I got the word last night, so that should happen.
- 23:50Speaker 6: So I guess it's a win win. I guess they need.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Delegate a Michael Bennett day in Evansville, Indiana, and I'll
- 23:57Speaker 1: come do a remote over there.
- 24:00Speaker 6: Hey, you come to a remote here. I'll make sure
- 24:03Speaker 6: you have a breakfast, lunch, in dinner.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Oh my, Now, you know that'd worried if you said dessert.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I'm not coming, okay, So but go ahead, Johnny.
- 24:13Speaker 6: It's not in the budget. Michael. I can't do a
- 24:15Speaker 6: dessert's budget. I think that might be the least thing
- 24:21Speaker 6: getting sometimes, or I don't think getting's the right word
- 24:24Speaker 6: to say. It is probably not proper English, the least
- 24:26Speaker 6: thing bought at a restaurant sometimes, Michael, is a dessert that.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I agree with that I don't know?
- 24:33Speaker 1: Is it all right? I think that's a great question.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Is it dessert or appetizers?
- 24:38Speaker 2: Dessert?
- 24:39Speaker 1: You think it's dessert. I'm almost to the point people
- 24:42Speaker 1: don't order appetizers. I don't say the dessert, like all right.
- 24:47Speaker 6: You know.
- 24:48Speaker 1: One of my favorite places to go is this place,
- 24:50Speaker 1: this restaurant which is the worst name in the world,
- 24:52Speaker 1: over by a Oxmore Mall by Dick's Sporting Goods. It's
- 24:56Speaker 1: called BJ's. Okay. They have a deal on the weekend.
- 25:00Speaker 1: You get all three, you get a soup, you get
- 25:04Speaker 1: a prime rib here I'm doing an advertisement for it,
- 25:07Speaker 1: and then you get their zuki. Have you ever had
- 25:09Speaker 1: those cookies that are fixed in the iron with ice
- 25:13Speaker 1: cream on top? Oh my gosh, yeah, sorry, yeah, I
- 25:17Speaker 1: love those things. I'm sorry, John, I'm taking away your time.
- 25:20Speaker 6: No, you're fine, go ahead. I want to hear how
- 25:21Speaker 6: much do you have to pay for that thirty.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Three thirty three dollars. It's a great deal. But see,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I have to share the zukie with my wife, which
- 25:31Speaker 1: doesn't work out. I was like, but but it's far
- 25:34Speaker 1: too big. But yeah, it's a good deal. You should
- 25:35Speaker 1: go to be Jason.
- 25:37Speaker 6: We have one here locally, and I'd used to do
- 25:39Speaker 6: a couple of food reviews on those cookies when they
- 25:42Speaker 6: came out a while back, about two years ago or so.
- 25:45Speaker 1: And criteria was they were good. Okay, they were good,
- 25:50Speaker 1: they were good. Okay, glad to.
- 25:51Speaker 6: Yeah, all right, So here's the questions I wanted to
- 25:54Speaker 6: call in and talk about this morning. Was okay about
- 25:58Speaker 6: that whole cube. So I'm gonna call it this locker
- 26:00Speaker 6: cube from Fox, and indeed that might have a different
- 26:03Speaker 6: name on it. But now you wouldn't sit in there
- 26:07Speaker 6: for fifty thousand. No, But here's my question, yep, would
- 26:12Speaker 6: you sit in a cube going on what's going on
- 26:17Speaker 6: right now with Kentucky Athletics? How much would you set
- 26:21Speaker 6: in a cube for three hundred and sixty five days
- 26:24Speaker 6: starting from when the basketball season ended out ended with
- 26:28Speaker 6: all this all this going on, and all you had
- 26:31Speaker 6: to do is just listen to all this Stokes and
- 26:34Speaker 6: Mark Pope updates and all these and how many days
- 26:37Speaker 6: would you keep doing this? And how much would you
- 26:39Speaker 6: want each day you're sitting in that cube?
- 26:40Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, wow, I would want to have out
- 26:44Speaker 1: after three days Josh. See, hey, I'm right, probably three
- 26:48Speaker 1: hours for me. So I just I can't stand listen
- 26:51Speaker 1: all this stuff in the and the excuses and no,
- 26:54Speaker 1: I I'm afraid John, I wouldn't last very long. First
- 26:58Speaker 1: of all, I'm claustrophobic of all. It's just not going
- 27:01Speaker 1: to work. I mean, I don't think I could do it.
- 27:06Speaker 6: Let's see, I mean a thousand dollars a day, be
- 27:09Speaker 6: three hundred and sixty five thousand dollars, right, yes, yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 6: but I would do it for five hundred a day.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Would you really? Wow?
- 27:17Speaker 6: Yeah, Okay, it's a lot of money.
- 27:19Speaker 1: It depends on what I'm fed. If I'm fed, well,
- 27:22Speaker 1: then I get to watch, you know, whatever I want
- 27:25Speaker 1: to watch on TV as well. But you know, it
- 27:27Speaker 1: might be worth five hundred dollars a day not to
- 27:29Speaker 1: be around my family. So every now and then that's
- 27:32Speaker 1: kind of a good thing. And that's terrible. I'm just kidding.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I love my family.
- 27:37Speaker 6: But go ahead, Hey, hey, who's this this? We got
- 27:41Speaker 6: a couple of young guys. They keep reaching out into
- 27:44Speaker 6: the portal or into the overseas market. There's a guy
- 27:47Speaker 6: that's like seven foot four. At this point, I think
- 27:51Speaker 6: they're reaching into biblical text and looking at David versus
- 27:56Speaker 6: Goliath and looking at goliath family and seeing just how
- 27:59Speaker 6: big of a person they can get. But but you
- 28:02Speaker 6: know what, hey, justin real quick, I get sidetracked it
- 28:06Speaker 6: for a second, sorry, because I've brought up Biblical That
- 28:10Speaker 6: guy with that car that's you know, he might sound
- 28:14Speaker 6: a little, you know, with the voice and everything, kind
- 28:16Speaker 6: of like a Steve O voice if you know who.
- 28:18Speaker 6: Steve O is from Jackass And that's the name of
- 28:22Speaker 6: the show, so it's not a curse word, it's his
- 28:24Speaker 6: name of the show. But anyways, that guy may have
- 28:27Speaker 6: a weird voice. But you know what, justin, at least
- 28:30Speaker 6: he's trying to spread the word of Christ, right.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, I'm not hating on his way he's
- 28:34Speaker 2: trying to do at all. It's just more of the
- 28:36Speaker 2: scary voice for me. Yeah exactly, all right, John, what
- 28:39Speaker 2: else you got before we let you go?
- 28:41Speaker 5: Oh?
- 28:42Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, no, I think we'll go get some people guys,
- 28:45Speaker 6: and we'll come We'll be all right. I don't know.
- 28:46Speaker 6: I haven't even watched this. It's so called if it's
- 28:49Speaker 6: upcoming or a video of Pope. I didn't even care
- 28:52Speaker 6: to watch it, not necessarily against Pope. But is his
- 28:54Speaker 6: seat hot? The whole Kentucky basketball program is hot right
- 28:57Speaker 6: now in the long direction because of recent results and
- 29:01Speaker 6: past results within the last five years. So guess what
- 29:05Speaker 6: we'll bounce back will be okay, He's gonna go get
- 29:07Speaker 6: some players, Marino return, probably get that other guy, and
- 29:10Speaker 6: then maybe an overseas guy. So we'll be okay. They'll
- 29:12Speaker 6: be guys. They'll be guys on the team.
- 29:14Speaker 1: So yes, it's just hopefully there they're men, not just guys.
- 29:17Speaker 1: But I appreciate the phone call.
- 29:18Speaker 6: John Harry here from you bye.
- 29:20Speaker 1: So yeah, uh well, you know he mentioned John just
- 29:23Speaker 1: mentioned about it. Seems like Mark Pope is making a
- 29:26Speaker 1: consorted effort overseas right now. Did you see or Will
- 29:29Speaker 1: Wade at LSU. He's got one player right now, and
- 29:33Speaker 1: he made the comment.
- 29:35Speaker 2: That Modeo Bote it's all he's got.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Exactly, and the rest of the team will be set
- 29:40Speaker 1: up with nothing but overseas players. What do you think
- 29:45Speaker 1: about that on the Illinois route, Well, I mean it
- 29:48Speaker 1: does feel that way, and I thought, man, that's that's risky.
- 29:52Speaker 2: It is. I mean, but isn't recruiting even if it's
- 29:55Speaker 2: out of the portal and it's American guys, it's risky
- 29:58Speaker 2: Like college basketball is risky business.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I think college sports is risky business. Forget about being
- 30:05Speaker 1: just one particular sport. To me, it's it's it's easier
- 30:10Speaker 1: to recruit for basketball than it is for football. Yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 1: I mean, you gotta fill less spots exactly.
- 30:17Speaker 2: And it is interesting that he's going after the dig
- 30:21Speaker 2: Is this a direct result of what Pat Kelsey's done.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I mean, if you look at that Louisville team, they
- 30:28Speaker 2: are stacked with huge dudes.
- 30:31Speaker 1: But that doesn't necessarily equate to a successful season.
- 30:35Speaker 2: No, and it may not. I'm not saying it.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you might have so many egos out there, and
- 30:39Speaker 1: Pat Kelsey simply does not know to how to mesh
- 30:43Speaker 1: all the personalities that are on that one particular team.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And as we saw last year, Mark Pope couldn't do it.
- 30:49Speaker 1: You had so many great talent or pretty good talent
- 30:53Speaker 1: that we paid way too much for and it just
- 30:55Speaker 1: didn't work out. I do worry about that. I was
- 30:57Speaker 1: the one thing. You know, the textter said how much
- 31:00Speaker 1: I dislike John cal Perry. Well, it's not necessarily that
- 31:05Speaker 1: I dislike John Caliperry. I just got sick and tired
- 31:09Speaker 1: of the rhetoric. I got sick and tired of the
- 31:11Speaker 1: fact that, Oh, we're gonna be great, settle down, BBN,
- 31:14Speaker 1: We're we're gonna be and then nothing came of it.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I mean, five years in a row and we had
- 31:19Speaker 1: nothing to brag about, losing in the first round, second round.
- 31:22Speaker 1: It's just like, what are we doing here? I mean,
- 31:24Speaker 1: you got this lifetime contract. Your motivation is now gone.
- 31:27Speaker 1: That's what I didn't like. I didn't like the situation
- 31:31Speaker 1: where John Caliperry was putting my favorite basketball team. That's
- 31:36Speaker 1: what I didn't like. It's not John Caliperry the person.
- 31:39Speaker 1: So you know all the textters out there that really
- 31:42Speaker 1: give me a hard time, you hate John Calberry. No,
- 31:44Speaker 1: it's not that.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Everything you just said can be echoed to Mark Pope
- 31:48Speaker 2: as well.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Absolutely one thousand percent, because I'm not happy right now.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I'm not happy where the University of Kentucky basketball team
- 31:58Speaker 1: sits right now. What you're worring level from one to ten?
- 32:02Speaker 1: I would say it's seven close to eight. What if
- 32:05Speaker 1: you're saying ten being the worst?
- 32:07Speaker 2: Correct?
- 32:07Speaker 1: Okay, what if Malakas stays in the draft? Uh, it's
- 32:10Speaker 1: going to be a nine, probably ten, because at that
- 32:13Speaker 1: point you've got no big bodies. Yeah, if if you
- 32:17Speaker 1: haven't seen it or not, there are reports coming out
- 32:20Speaker 1: that Malachi Moreno is right on the cusp of being
- 32:24Speaker 1: drafted in the first round and at this point, what
- 32:28Speaker 1: should he do? Should he? Because you know, we've all
- 32:31Speaker 1: you and I've talked about this several times where this
- 32:35Speaker 1: is a loaded draft this year and for Malachi to
- 32:41Speaker 1: be working out and evidently showing some real talent that
- 32:45Speaker 1: we all know he has. Now, I still believe it's
- 32:48Speaker 1: somewhat raw talent. I think he has improved drastically. Uh,
- 32:54Speaker 1: and we own we all know the potential he has.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Now they're saying he's going thirty first, going to the Knicks.
- 33:02Speaker 1: If you're Malachi Moreno, justin are you staying in and
- 33:08Speaker 1: going to the Knicks or are you going to stay
- 33:10Speaker 1: at univers Kentucky hopefully make a little more money but
- 33:14Speaker 1: on a team that doesn't look to be really good.
- 33:18Speaker 2: So if I'm Malachi, I'm probably gonna revisit what ty
- 33:24Speaker 2: Simpson did the quarterback of Alabama when he went to
- 33:28Speaker 2: Nick Saban and basically asked him do I do I
- 33:33Speaker 2: go to the NFL Draft or do I stay in
- 33:35Speaker 2: college and become one of the highest play paid players
- 33:38Speaker 2: next season? And Nick Saban just looked at him and said, well,
- 33:41Speaker 2: what do you Take the money out of the equation?
- 33:44Speaker 2: Where do you want to be next?
- 33:46Speaker 1: Exactly? And I think that's the perfect question.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Which Ty Simpson said, I want to be playing professional
- 33:50Speaker 2: football ends up going to the draft getting drafted thirteenth overall.
- 33:54Speaker 2: So I would pose that same question to Malachi. Take
- 33:57Speaker 2: the money out of it? Where do you want to
- 33:59Speaker 2: be next?
- 34:01Speaker 1: Money should never be the root of your final decision,
- 34:04Speaker 1: but unfortunately, more times than not nowadays it is because
- 34:09Speaker 1: you know there's gonna be a day in time when
- 34:11Speaker 1: it's like, why did I do this? I want to
- 34:13Speaker 1: do something that I have a passion for. It's not
- 34:15Speaker 1: about the money. I think money should be not taken
- 34:19Speaker 1: completely out of the equation, but it should be a
- 34:22Speaker 1: minor part of the equation. That should be for every
- 34:25Speaker 1: job you're interviewing for. And I think that's one of
- 34:27Speaker 1: some of the best advice I've ever heard in my
- 34:29Speaker 1: life from Nick Saban because I agree with that take
- 34:32Speaker 1: always take the money out. If money had nothing to
- 34:36Speaker 1: do with it? Would you do radio? If money had
- 34:39Speaker 1: nothing to do with it? Would do you want to
- 34:41Speaker 1: be a play by play guy?
- 34:43Speaker 2: I mean obviously with the radio scenario, yeah, because money
- 34:48Speaker 2: fairly is a factor as it is now exactly.
- 34:50Speaker 1: But you know, but what's going to keep you happy
- 34:53Speaker 1: is your passion. It's not the money because you might
- 34:57Speaker 1: be paid. Listen, I had a very well paid job
- 34:59Speaker 1: from years. I got to a point where it wasn't
- 35:03Speaker 1: making me happy anymore. It didn't matter. I wanted to
- 35:06Speaker 1: be happy, So I walked away from it and I
- 35:09Speaker 1: found something that I fell in love with which I
- 35:12Speaker 1: make no money yet.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I mean, I say it all the time. I will
- 35:15Speaker 2: never have a ton of money, but my happiness bank
- 35:18Speaker 2: is more full than a lot of it.
- 35:19Speaker 1: And you know what, that's what matters. Mostly. My dad
- 35:22Speaker 1: said that. Now, my dad was very successful, so it's
- 35:25Speaker 1: kind of I love. People are gonna say, well was
- 35:27Speaker 1: easy for him, No, it's not the case. He had
- 35:30Speaker 1: a lot of heartache, and he had a lot of
- 35:33Speaker 1: points of his life where he's like, what am I
- 35:35Speaker 1: doing here? But you know, when my mom got sick,
- 35:38Speaker 1: he said, I'm done. I don't need to make any
- 35:40Speaker 1: more money, and we'll take care of my wife. That
- 35:42Speaker 1: was his happy time to take care of my mom.
- 35:46Speaker 1: And he did not regret a thing in his life.
- 35:49Speaker 1: And I love that about my dad. I looked up.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I still look up to my dad. I mean, we're
- 35:52Speaker 1: getting ready to celebrate Mother's Day Sunday, and I celebrate
- 35:55Speaker 1: my mom.
- 35:56Speaker 2: That's Sunday.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Yeah, oh boy, are you ready for it? I hope
- 36:00Speaker 1: you got a little money.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Go by wonder why I got invited to dinner on
- 36:03Speaker 2: Sunday last night.
- 36:04Speaker 1: You gotta be kidding me. You had no idea Mother's
- 36:09Speaker 1: Day is Sunday. No, no clue. You're welcome. Go get
- 36:13Speaker 1: your mom something nice. It doesn't matter if it's a
- 36:15Speaker 1: present or just a card. Say something nice. Her present
- 36:18Speaker 1: is gonna be my presence. Tell her that right now,
- 36:22Speaker 1: fire card A card makes than a card. I think
- 36:26Speaker 1: that's even better. Actually did make her a card last year?
- 36:29Speaker 1: It Yeah, and just make a nice sentence in there
- 36:32Speaker 1: in your handwritten. Uh make it, you know, not scribble,
- 36:36Speaker 1: but make it somewhat writable. Great writing, Michael, do you really?
- 36:40Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 36:40Speaker 1: I don't.
- 36:41Speaker 2: When I pull out my best penmanship.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Really it's great. Mine is not. I wish I could write.
- 36:45Speaker 1: My mom had beautiful handwriting, but I don't. It's terrible. Yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 1: I wish I did. But anyway, all right, we're gonna
- 36:52Speaker 1: take another break. Five O two three four fourteen fifty
- 36:55Speaker 1: You want to call a five O two four one
- 36:56Speaker 1: four fourteen fifty one text in on the Whiskey Thief
- 36:58Speaker 1: text line. As soon as we get back, we'll get
- 37:00Speaker 1: to your text. I appreciate that.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Stay right there. More just cats coming.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Out to me. Sure I'm not too deep.
- 37:12Speaker 4: To jesstcast.
- 37:56Speaker 1: We got the Chambers dec. I love how this song starts.
- 38:11Speaker 1: It's it's one of my fings. You know, this song
- 38:14Speaker 1: is twenty something years old, and I still think it's reveling.
- 38:17Speaker 1: They were one hit. Wonder I think, weren't theyknew radicals.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I don't know another song? Then, oh you see, I
- 38:22Speaker 1: don't either, And I think you know. I love it
- 38:25Speaker 1: when people yell one two when they start a song
- 38:30Speaker 1: one two three I just I love that. There's something
- 38:33Speaker 1: that gets me really going in the morning when I
- 38:35Speaker 1: hear a song like that.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't recognize any of the other.
- 38:39Speaker 1: I don't either. And that was that was such a
- 38:41Speaker 1: big hit back in back in what the late nineties,
- 38:44Speaker 1: early two thousand and something like it was it really yeah,
- 38:48Speaker 1: you know earlier I think he's making fun of Madonna.
- 38:51Speaker 1: He's making fun of some other really famous people out
- 38:55Speaker 1: in California, which I thought was really funny. I loved that.
- 38:58Speaker 1: But uh, anyway, let's get to the whisky Thief. Text
- 39:00Speaker 1: line five with two four one four fourteen fifty one
- 39:03Speaker 1: person said, would you rather go catfish nooting with peanut
- 39:06Speaker 1: butter on the interview or you know what? Or watch soccer?
- 39:12Speaker 1: You're tally whacker. It refers to it as that anymore.
- 39:17Speaker 1: My dad used to say that that makes me laugh.
- 39:20Speaker 1: There is something about that word. It just cracks me up.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I would rather go noodling, okay, just to let you know, Oh, absolutely,
- 39:28Speaker 1: then sit in a box in New York City watching soccer. Yes,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I think that's a great question. Thank you, Jamie. I
- 39:36Speaker 1: can't believe that was your answer. Yes, that's my answer.
- 39:39Speaker 1: That is how much? All right? The best way I
- 39:42Speaker 1: can describe soccer is I loathe it. That is the
- 39:46Speaker 1: lowest of low. I just I have zero interest in it.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I mean, my niece's husband played soccer, he coaches it.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I'm like, what is wrong with you?
- 39:56Speaker 2: Oh?
- 39:57Speaker 3: My god?
- 39:57Speaker 1: He he just goes nuts for it.
- 39:59Speaker 2: I think my I can't imagine hating something so much
- 40:02Speaker 2: that I'd rather put my sickness in a cat.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely I would. You might enjoy it, you never know. Uh,
- 40:10Speaker 1: but uh yeah, that's one thing one person. I think
- 40:14Speaker 1: a student driver sign is okay and means to give
- 40:18Speaker 1: them some grace. Now, a bigger red flag sign is
- 40:21Speaker 1: an Indiana plate. Haha, ha, just kidding, Scoots, that's pretty
- 40:27Speaker 1: good right there. I like that one, Scoots. I text
- 40:30Speaker 1: this line enough that my number should be in your phone.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I probably text you all more than i'd do my wife,
- 40:38Speaker 1: so you should know who this is. I could have pulled.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Up the text line. Jay.
- 40:42Speaker 1: You know you're asking him for your number and you
- 40:45Speaker 1: didn't have you number, but he does. He texts all
- 40:47Speaker 1: the time. And yet you said I don't have his number.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Well you do have his number anyway, I wish you
- 40:53Speaker 2: would have got that challenger this morning, Jamie.
- 40:55Speaker 1: One person said, short legs, treks, arms and scoots almost
- 40:59Speaker 1: eating the steering wheel. Oh sorry, the tracks, Well he
- 41:05Speaker 1: did put a space as tracks. I love that short legs,
- 41:11Speaker 1: t rex, arms and scoots almost eating the steering wheel.
- 41:14Speaker 1: That's a great nice job, Zach. That's your brother, he
- 41:17Speaker 1: that says that. I love that. Uh. I swear the
- 41:24Speaker 1: text line does not does not fail every now and
- 41:27Speaker 1: then one person said, thought I would be nice and
- 41:31Speaker 1: made a big jug of homemade mint simple syrup and
- 41:35Speaker 1: bought the biggest bottle of Woodford I could find for
- 41:39Speaker 1: a neighborhood derby party. My goodness, good for you. My
- 41:44Speaker 1: intention was to share with anyone that wanted mint julps.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Was not aware that other people did the same thing.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Have been having a mint julup nightcap the past week
- 41:56Speaker 1: and will probably be doing so for a while. I
- 41:59Speaker 1: can't come playing too much, though, ah Lee, that's really
- 42:03Speaker 1: you know, going out. That's the one thing you don't
- 42:06Speaker 1: do with julips or any mixers. I don't think you
- 42:10Speaker 1: should ever take a nice bottle of something and mix
- 42:15Speaker 1: it with something. I think you. To me, my thought
- 42:18Speaker 1: was always you take a cheap bottle a bourbon or
- 42:23Speaker 1: a cheap bottle of vodka rom whatever drink you prefer,
- 42:27Speaker 1: drink of choice, and you use a mixer with that.
- 42:30Speaker 1: You don't use a really good bottle, do you? But
- 42:33Speaker 1: good for this guy, I mean shot out the really
- 42:36Speaker 1: good bottle, a nice bottle of bourbon.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong. Woodford is my absolute favorite bourbon
- 42:42Speaker 2: on the Okay, yeah, but I wouldn't consider Woodford a
- 42:45Speaker 2: really nice bird really.
- 42:46Speaker 1: See, I would. I would tend to get a bottle
- 42:49Speaker 1: of jim Bean.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Now, if you're buying a bottle of like pappies and
- 42:53Speaker 2: poor and simple up in it, you probably shouldn't do that.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I wouldn't do Woodford. I wouldn't do Buffalo East or
- 43:00Speaker 1: anything like that. Okay, you would, I mean, I mean,
- 43:04Speaker 1: I mean this guy for doing it now.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Like I said earlier this week, I'm much more likely
- 43:08Speaker 2: to drink bourbon on the rocks as opposed to mixing
- 43:10Speaker 2: it with anything. But I'm okay with mixing wood.
- 43:13Speaker 1: If mister Illinois sends his address, I think we should
- 43:17Speaker 1: go over tonight, you and I and have a little
- 43:19Speaker 1: uh uh what is it called mint julip with him?
- 43:24Speaker 1: I mean I'd love to have a mint julyp nightcap.
- 43:27Speaker 1: I know we said a couple of days ago. I
- 43:30Speaker 1: love mint julips. I feel like I'm one of the
- 43:32Speaker 1: few that does. And the fact that he went out
- 43:36Speaker 1: went to the effort and made the simple syrup. I
- 43:40Speaker 1: love it when people do that. It's just that about
- 43:43Speaker 1: it's nice gesture for people to go out there but
- 43:46Speaker 1: and buy the ingredients, but when you go out there
- 43:49Speaker 1: and actually make it homemade, extra well, job well done
- 43:52Speaker 1: right there. I mean, that's great, one person said. Pope
- 43:58Speaker 1: taking questions by chat, says everything about how he feels
- 44:02Speaker 1: he has done at his job so far. My question
- 44:05Speaker 1: to him would be, at the end of the season, coach,
- 44:08Speaker 1: would you consider retiring for the betterment of the program
- 44:12Speaker 1: you say you love? Maybe not retiring, but moving on
- 44:17Speaker 1: for sure. Here's what I say, He's not gonna. I've
- 44:21Speaker 1: had a number of people ask me, do you feel
- 44:23Speaker 1: like Mark Pope would walk away from this job? No,
- 44:27Speaker 1: the answer is really easy for me. That is not
- 44:30Speaker 1: in Mark Pope's DNA. He's not a quitter. And you
- 44:33Speaker 1: know what, I wouldn't want to hire a coach that's
- 44:37Speaker 1: a quitter and he's going to have to be let go.
- 44:41Speaker 2: That's not being a quitter, though, that's realizing that, hey,
- 44:44Speaker 2: things aren't going the way they should be. I love
- 44:46Speaker 2: this university. I'm just gonna do what's best for everybody
- 44:50Speaker 2: that's a quitter. I don't know how you define quitting.
- 44:53Speaker 2: More is leaving a job if you're a quitter. If
- 44:56Speaker 2: I'm okay, So let's just say that I'm here doing
- 45:00Speaker 2: this radio job every day. All right now. You and
- 45:03Speaker 2: I both know occasionally we have the dead air when
- 45:05Speaker 2: we're just talking to you all turn break occasionally. I
- 45:08Speaker 2: love it when you react like that until he twice
- 45:11Speaker 2: a week. Yeah, but what if I did that every break?
- 45:14Speaker 2: And what if it wasn't only twenty thirty seconds. What
- 45:17Speaker 2: if every single break I'm sitting over there talking to
- 45:19Speaker 2: you for seven minutes and I've got three minutes of.
- 45:22Speaker 1: It, You're gonna be fired. You're not gonna quit.
- 45:26Speaker 2: I don't know that I would be fired, to be
- 45:27Speaker 2: honest with you, but I would in my mind. I'm thinking, okay, well,
- 45:33Speaker 2: this is not the way that the Big X should sound.
- 45:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna swallow my pride. I'm gonna step away. Let
- 45:38Speaker 2: somebody come in here that could actually do a good job.
- 45:41Speaker 2: That's the same thing I look at with Mark Pup. Okay,
- 45:45Speaker 2: if you know you're not doing a as good of
- 45:47Speaker 2: a job as you could be, let somebody else trayther.
- 45:49Speaker 1: It's still quitting.
- 45:52Speaker 2: I don't. To me it is, yes, yeah, I mean
- 45:55Speaker 2: I I by by the definition.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Yeah, probably exactly. So I mean, why are we having
- 46:01Speaker 1: this argument. I just flipped. You're the easiest person to flip,
- 46:05Speaker 1: and it just makes me smile every time you're like this.
- 46:08Speaker 1: You still don't want to I see exactly. One person
- 46:11Speaker 1: said Michael, I feel like Pope has something cooking. Just
- 46:14Speaker 1: feels that way, like any on his over lop rys arony.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Is that the San Francisco treat, By the way, I
- 46:24Speaker 1: have no idea what that.
- 46:25Speaker 2: I think it is the San Francisco treat never had,
- 46:29Speaker 2: have you not. I don't know where that even came from.
- 46:31Speaker 2: It probably came from a core. I think that is
- 46:34Speaker 2: the San Francisco Trea rice A Roney. I can't think
- 46:38Speaker 2: that between that and Chef Boyardi, I can't think of
- 46:41Speaker 2: two worse things. Tho oh I love do you really?
- 46:44Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 46:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 46:46Speaker 1: I tried it as a kid and then it came
- 46:48Speaker 1: back up like an hour later, and I've never eaten
- 46:51Speaker 1: it again. That was probably Spaghettio's, That's what it was.
- 46:54Speaker 1: It was Spaghettio's. Yes, I thought it was fantastic. We
- 46:57Speaker 1: gotta take a break. Hour two coming up. We'll get
- 47:00Speaker 1: back to your text as well. Stay right there.
- 47:02Speaker 3: This is just a Cat.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. So they
- 47:30Speaker 1: haven't fixed that thing with the announcer coming in, the
- 47:35Speaker 1: music playing, and then just the Cat's music coming on
- 47:37Speaker 1: right now. I told him not to because you love it.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I love it, I mean I do. I think it's
- 47:41Speaker 1: awesome and it reminds me of my music on my phone.
- 47:45Speaker 1: I think it's great. So yeah, please don't fix that.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Long as you're happy, that's all that matters. As long
- 47:51Speaker 1: as I am happy, that's all that matters at this station.
- 47:55Speaker 2: That's right.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Is that the most egotistical thing I could ever say?
- 47:58Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 47:58Speaker 1: I mean, do you think I have an ego?
- 48:01Speaker 3: Be honest?
- 48:02Speaker 1: Do you really?
- 48:04Speaker 2: We all have egos?
- 48:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean some people have a bigger one.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Now.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I think my boys tend to say I have a
- 48:11Speaker 1: big personality, which you know, if you really got to
- 48:15Speaker 1: know me, you'll see parts of me that's kind of shay,
- 48:18Speaker 1: which people don't believe that I am shat.
- 48:21Speaker 2: You definitely have a big ego.
- 48:23Speaker 1: I do. Oh, that's not good. That's not a bad thing.
- 48:27Speaker 1: It's not okay to me. It sounds like if.
- 48:30Speaker 2: You're working in radio, you kind of need a big ego,
- 48:33Speaker 2: are you really? I don't think so. I'd like to
- 48:36Speaker 2: be known as humble. You can be humble and have
- 48:38Speaker 2: a big ego. Two things, all right. One of the days,
- 48:43Speaker 2: I want you to play the rest of our song.
- 48:45Speaker 2: You know, the the intro song. Oh yeah, have you
- 48:48Speaker 2: ever heard that song before? I don't think I've listened
- 48:50Speaker 2: to the whole thing. It's a good song. It's by
- 48:53Speaker 2: a band called the Record Company. It's good. I like
- 48:57Speaker 2: that song.
- 48:58Speaker 1: There another people.
- 48:59Speaker 2: I thought you were referring to our Ai song Ai song.
- 49:03Speaker 2: What's that the one you made on Souno?
- 49:06Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, no no no, I'm talking about
- 49:08Speaker 1: the the real intro song. I just don't even know
- 49:11Speaker 1: what it is. I'm just told you it's the record
- 49:13Speaker 1: Company and the song is I don't remember the name
- 49:17Speaker 1: of the song. If you if you read a couple
- 49:19Speaker 1: of their it's probably their most popular song, and I
- 49:25Speaker 1: can't think of the name of it. Would it be
- 49:27Speaker 1: how high read? Another one? Off the Ground? Off the Ground?
- 49:32Speaker 1: I think it's the name of the song. Okay, Yeah,
- 49:35Speaker 1: that's that's it. I'm positive. Yeah, I can't believe you
- 49:37Speaker 1: haven't played our AI song. I actually like the Ai song.
- 49:41Speaker 2: It's good.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Yeah, although I've never listened to the whole thing, but
- 49:44Speaker 1: the unfortunate part. Yeah, you gotta nix the whole Matthew
- 49:47Speaker 1: thing because it has Matthew in it. It's like, oh,
- 49:50Speaker 1: make it. Yeah, so I have to remake it with
- 49:52Speaker 1: just you and me. But I thought that was fun.
- 49:55Speaker 1: All right. There is one thing I've been wanting to
- 49:57Speaker 1: talk about the last couple of days and just haven't
- 49:59Speaker 1: done it yet. But have you seen this story about
- 50:02Speaker 1: the cruise ship. It's a Dutch cruise ship that's been
- 50:06Speaker 1: sailing around the Atlantic. It originated, I'm trying to think,
- 50:13Speaker 1: somewhere down in South America and off of Argentina, and
- 50:22Speaker 1: it was going to Cape Verde, which is off It's
- 50:27Speaker 1: an island off the coast of West Africa. Yes, you're right.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Do you want me to pronounce it?
- 50:36Speaker 2: Nailed? Cape Verde? The go Is that how you say it?
- 50:40Speaker 1: Yeah, you kind of put a little ellen there, okay,
- 50:42Speaker 1: vin Velde, all right, so yeah enough, all right, it's
- 50:46Speaker 1: Green Island, which is probably not green at all. But
- 50:50Speaker 1: so they've been out there and evidently they have a
- 50:53Speaker 1: virus that's spreading throughout there. There is a bunch of passengers,
- 50:57Speaker 1: I think they said like thirteen fourteen, fifteen passengers that
- 51:01Speaker 1: have it hantavirus. And I was going to get to that. Yes,
- 51:05Speaker 1: you are correct, it's called the hanta virus. You didn't
- 51:07Speaker 1: get there quick. You were really impatient with me today,
- 51:11Speaker 1: aren't you. You're testing my patience as well. But yes,
- 51:15Speaker 1: it's called the hantavirus. Three people have died on this
- 51:18Speaker 1: cruise ship. Have you ever heard of hantavirus until today?
- 51:22Speaker 2: I mean when I read the story a couple of
- 51:24Speaker 2: days ago, but before then, I had never heard of it.
- 51:28Speaker 1: Do you know what hantavirus is? It's transmitted because of
- 51:35Speaker 1: rodents from their infected urine and yeah, they're pooped and
- 51:40Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. Yeah, but yeah, it's it's
- 51:44Speaker 1: from their droppings or their saliva. It causes serious respiratory disease.
- 51:50Speaker 1: So the only thing they can do for these people
- 51:53Speaker 1: is put them on a ventilator. There's no drug for
- 51:55Speaker 1: it or anything like that. It's kind of a crazy thing,
- 51:58Speaker 1: you know. You know how you go on a cruise
- 52:00Speaker 1: and if somebody catches the cold, it just as it
- 52:03Speaker 1: goes rampant throughout the whole Cruisia. And that's what's happening here.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Now.
- 52:08Speaker 1: They say, you don't catch it, it's not an airborne virus,
- 52:12Speaker 1: but they feel like this is such a serious virus
- 52:15Speaker 1: that maybe it is happening through the air.
- 52:20Speaker 2: They're not letting them go anywhere, No, they're not. They
- 52:23Speaker 2: rejected them coming into Spain, won't let them talk.
- 52:27Speaker 4: No.
- 52:29Speaker 1: And there's a poor guy that put out a video
- 52:31Speaker 1: on social media and he's very emotional. It's an American,
- 52:35Speaker 1: and I'm like, Okay, this has gotta be ai, this
- 52:38Speaker 1: has got to be something big, and then only to
- 52:40Speaker 1: find out it was real, and he's like, we've got
- 52:44Speaker 1: nowhere to go. All I want to do is go home.
- 52:46Speaker 1: And then when I found out it was real, I
- 52:48Speaker 1: really felt bad for the guy. You're on this dream
- 52:52Speaker 1: cruise going from Argentina over to South Africa or the
- 52:58Speaker 1: west coast of Africa, and I'm thinking that sounds awesome,
- 53:01Speaker 1: and then you have this happen. Does it make you
- 53:04Speaker 1: want to go on a cruise now? Or does it
- 53:06Speaker 1: make you not want to go on a cruise at all?
- 53:10Speaker 1: I mean I've never had the desire to go on
- 53:12Speaker 1: a cruise, have you not? Really?
- 53:13Speaker 2: No, I've always said that's one vacation that I probably
- 53:15Speaker 2: just won't take. I just I don't like being confined
- 53:19Speaker 2: to one space.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I don't know, but you're not you're off the ship.
- 53:22Speaker 2: No, I know that, but a majority of your trip
- 53:25Speaker 2: you are on the ship and you're you can't do
- 53:27Speaker 2: anything about it. And I know there's fun things to
- 53:29Speaker 2: do on cruise ships, but I don't know. It's just
- 53:31Speaker 2: that's never seemed like my idea of a good time,
- 53:34Speaker 2: So I've never wanted to This does not make me
- 53:37Speaker 2: more likely to want to take Yeah.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 53:40Speaker 2: When I watched the poop Cruise, I mean, that's another
- 53:42Speaker 2: one that just I feel like there's so many turnoffs
- 53:46Speaker 2: to cruise was the greatest, It was awesome.
- 53:51Speaker 1: I loved it. Yeah, nothing made me happier than watching
- 53:55Speaker 1: that one. And it was so disgusting people walking around
- 53:58Speaker 1: in toilet water.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Just feel like the cons are far outweigh the pros
- 54:02Speaker 2: for going on a cruise.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Well, I just I wonder if this is hurting cruises
- 54:06Speaker 1: because you're right, you did have the whole thing on
- 54:08Speaker 1: Poop Cruise, you had this. Now you have this horrible
- 54:12Speaker 1: virus on another cruise ship. Is it inevitably hurting the
- 54:16Speaker 1: cruise ship business? Because you know, the largest one out
- 54:20Speaker 1: there is what Carnival, I'd say so, yeah, And I
- 54:23Speaker 1: think Carnival's been hit quite a bit because people keep
- 54:26Speaker 1: posting all these wild cruises out there, which Carnival is
- 54:30Speaker 1: very much like. They're inexpensive. People get on there and
- 54:33Speaker 1: just want to drink their to oblivion, which I don't understand.
- 54:36Speaker 1: I mean, have a few drinks, but why do you
- 54:38Speaker 1: want to drink to where you don't remember your cruise?
- 54:41Speaker 1: Carnival has forty one percent of passenger share. Well, it's crazy,
- 54:48Speaker 1: think about it. Though they own Royal Caribbeans. No, Royal
- 54:52Speaker 1: Caribbean's different, okay, but they're owned by Carnival Cruise Line.
- 54:55Speaker 1: They own twenty seven percent of them. Okay, so you're
- 54:58Speaker 1: going individually. Wow. Yeah. Margaritaville's on there somewhere, which I
- 55:03Speaker 1: heard is not a great one. Yeah, it's a booze cruise.
- 55:07Speaker 1: I mean, it might as well be Michael Scott on
- 55:09Speaker 1: there saying we are sinking. But no, I gotta believe
- 55:13Speaker 1: this is going to hurt the cruise business. Maybe so,
- 55:16Speaker 1: I don't know. I just got off of one. What
- 55:18Speaker 1: in February? I was on one for two weeks, had
- 55:20Speaker 1: the greatest time. I loved it. I never thought I
- 55:23Speaker 1: would do a cruise for over a week.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Now, imagine a virus going through that cruise and you
- 55:28Speaker 2: all can't dock anywhere.
- 55:29Speaker 1: And you're confined to your room. On top of it all,
- 55:32Speaker 1: how are you getting food? Are you going to run
- 55:33Speaker 1: out of food? How are you connecting with the world.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I mean, at some point, you've watched every single movie
- 55:39Speaker 1: that's offered on their television. What do you do at
- 55:41Speaker 1: that point? I think, yeah, at that point, I think
- 55:43Speaker 1: I'm in prison. It's a nice prison, but I'm in prison,
- 55:47Speaker 1: and you're scared for your life. I don't know what
- 55:50Speaker 1: happens at that point, but anyway, I found it fascinating.
- 55:56Speaker 1: And I bet you there's gonna be a documentary written
- 55:58Speaker 1: on this one.
- 55:59Speaker 2: No doubt has to be.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Because does that mean there are rats all over the ship.
- 56:07Speaker 1: How did this happen? How did it get on board
- 56:09Speaker 1: in the first place? So to me, I kind of
- 56:11Speaker 1: feel like, well, they are on there. Somebody was telling
- 56:16Speaker 1: me that now the state of Kentucky is getting armadillos.
- 56:20Speaker 2: Yeah, Indiana too, And.
- 56:23Speaker 1: It's like, okay, how are these armadillos migrating to our
- 56:27Speaker 1: state or north?
- 56:30Speaker 2: Well?
- 56:30Speaker 1: How did they get over across the Mississippi River? Are
- 56:32Speaker 1: they literally getting on I forty interstate and walking across
- 56:36Speaker 1: the Mississippi River into downtown Memphis? Is like, oh, I
- 56:39Speaker 1: hear gunshots, I'm out of here. What are they doing?
- 56:42Speaker 1: Are they? Cause you know that's the other crazy part.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Have you ever seen I'm going really squirrel today. Have
- 56:48Speaker 1: you ever seen a deer swim in the Ohio River?
- 56:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 56:52Speaker 1: I have too, because there's deer on the islands out
- 56:54Speaker 1: there in the middle of And we had the one
- 56:56Speaker 1: a couple of years ago that jumped off the Belvidere
- 56:58Speaker 1: Remember that. I remember that? And where did it go?
- 57:02Speaker 1: I don't want to know.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Nobody knows.
- 57:03Speaker 1: It would have been sucked up if the fountain was
- 57:05Speaker 1: still out there. So armadillos can swim, by the way,
- 57:09Speaker 1: they can, So they're swimming across the Mississippi River and
- 57:13Speaker 1: coming to Kentucky and Indiana, so they can they have
- 57:16Speaker 1: two ways to swim. This is actually really fascinating. Oh wow,
- 57:18Speaker 1: you're oh, you're doing some home.
- 57:20Speaker 2: They can goulp air to inflate their intestines for buoyancy,
- 57:23Speaker 2: to dog paddle or wow or this is the more
- 57:28Speaker 2: fascinating one. Yes, they can hold their breath for up
- 57:30Speaker 2: to six minutes.
- 57:32Speaker 1: You've got to be kidding men, and walk.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Along the bottom of streams. Really, that's crazy.
- 57:37Speaker 1: So they're going to the bottom of the Mississippi River
- 57:39Speaker 1: and saying, my goodness, look at those catfish. I might
- 57:42Speaker 1: do some noodle in myself. I'm out of here. Can
- 57:45Speaker 1: you imagine armadillo's can do all? I have learned so
- 57:50Speaker 1: much from this show. Armadillos are so cool. You just
- 57:53Speaker 1: freaking out. I think they're the creepiest thing in the world,
- 57:55Speaker 1: do you.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I remember when I was living down in Florida,
- 57:58Speaker 2: they were They were always super entertaining. So I used
- 58:01Speaker 2: to run.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Why are they entertaining? I used to run a lot.
- 58:04Speaker 2: Okay, and clearly you haven't in a while. Okay, that's true.
- 58:08Speaker 2: Thanks for pointing that out. But it was a running
- 58:13Speaker 2: up on an armadillo. Yeah, they would occasionally you'd see
- 58:16Speaker 2: him on the sidewalks or whatever. Yes, and they would
- 58:19Speaker 2: when you got close to them. Yeah, they would run
- 58:21Speaker 2: for a couple hundred yards right, settle back down. You'd
- 58:24Speaker 2: get close to and they would just do that over
- 58:26Speaker 2: and over and over. Really it was awesome. Okay, love
- 58:29Speaker 2: those animals.
- 58:30Speaker 1: All right? Then, well do they attack though? No, they
- 58:34Speaker 1: don't know? Interesting all right, Well, I never knew anything about.
- 58:41Speaker 2: This, and that's talking armadillos.
- 58:42Speaker 1: I listen, there's got to be a song about armadillo's
- 58:45Speaker 1: and their promise. I think there is a song about armadillo's.
- 58:49Speaker 1: I've got to learn that. Let's go back to the
- 58:50Speaker 1: Whiskey Thief text line forty eight. Handley said, Uh, let
- 58:54Speaker 1: me make sure I get the right one here. Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Loathe solid verb, Michael. When I was talking about soccer, solid,
- 59:04Speaker 1: I think it's a solid burb and that's the best
- 59:06Speaker 1: way to describe soccer. I absolutely loathe soccer. Are you
- 59:12Speaker 1: still looking at armadillo crap? No, okay, kind of looking
- 59:16Speaker 1: kind of weird over there.
- 59:18Speaker 2: One.
- 59:18Speaker 1: I'll see here, I'm looking for something. But you Okay, Josh,
- 59:22Speaker 1: text it out. How are you crank yakers on Whiskey
- 59:25Speaker 1: Thief text line and don't mention them as a good
- 59:28Speaker 1: bourbon ha ha Oh boy, Josh, great point right there. Yeah,
- 59:34Speaker 1: I should have mentioned my my own sponsor Whiskey Thief,
- 59:37Speaker 1: And you know I ran into.
- 59:39Speaker 2: I've never had it. You were supposed to bring me
- 59:40Speaker 2: a bottle and I've never really.
- 59:42Speaker 1: So Okay, I'll bring you a bottle and uh you
- 59:46Speaker 1: will say, oh, thank you very much, So I will
- 59:49Speaker 1: do that. Thank you very much for that, Josh, And
- 59:51Speaker 1: that nice reminder right there.
- 59:53Speaker 3: Uh.
- 59:53Speaker 1: One person said Pope won't walk away for the very
- 59:56Speaker 1: reason Michael says he will work endlessly to try to
- 59:59Speaker 1: fix things because he feels he can and he's not
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: a quitter. I just think Mark Pope is the mindset,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: has the mindset that I can do this. I can
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: do even though it just everybody else sees around him
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: that it's just not working out. I still think he
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: has the mindset I can fix this even if the
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: team doesn't have a good season next year, justin I
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: still believe I can still do this. I mean it's
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: gonna have to be a new athletic director coming in
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: here and saying, I really appreciate it, but yeah, it's
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: not working.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: And that's the mindset he should have. He's got blinders on.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: You should when you're in that spot.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Absolutely, And that's what I was saying earlier, he should.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I don't want to hire a head coach, athletic director,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: or anybody that comes to work for me personally unless
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: they have the mindset and determination that they can do it.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Sometimes it just doesn't work out. I mean, I've had
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: businesses that have been very successful. I've had businesses that
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: have failed. It's how I learned from the failure and
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: the successes for the next business.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Was one of the failed ones?
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: What's that?
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: What was one of the failed ones?
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Well, one of the failed one was the food delivery
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: service I had. I mean it did okay, Uh, it
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: just I didn't have the time for it. I ended
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: up selling somebody else made a little money off it.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: But I consider that a failure because I just I
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: felt like I could have done a better job. Yeah,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: but I've had business that had been very successful, and
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: there there's been other ones that haven't succeeded.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: So uh.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: One person said, uh u of L fans and media
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: are making fun of Mark Pope. Do you really fear
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: U of L. That roster doesn't scare me? Well, I
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: mean Pat Kelsey and U of L's getting some very
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: talented players. Do they scare me? No, But let's see
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: how they they perform first before I really say, I'm
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: not gonna say it's gonna be a great team. I'm
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: not gonna see it's gonna be a bad I'm just
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: not sure Pat Kelsey has the mindset that can or
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: the psychology degree that can put all of these ego
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: players that are great and make them a great team.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Just I've said this before, just because you have some
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: of the most talented players in the world doesn't mean
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: they play as a team. They're individually unbelievably talented, but
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: that doesn't mean they're going to be a team player.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Sometimes you can get a bunch of mid tier guys
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: to play well together and they are a good Absolutely.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I kind of feel like Saint John's has been like that.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Rick Patino's been good about that. And I'll say this
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: to my death, I think the coach, the one coach
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: that could definitely do it is John cal Perry. I'll
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: compliment him till the day I die that he is
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: one of the greatest psychologists out there. He could put
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: all the greatest high school players together and make them
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: a team until he couldn't. He couldn't beginning. I mean
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins and that entire team. You
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: look at the twenty twelve team, that team had unbelievable
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: individual talent that could play as one. Twenty fifteen teams
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: same thing. I mean, I just it was hard to
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: believe that he could do it, but he did it.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: I'm not convinced Pat Kelsey can do it, are you.
- 1:03:28Speaker 7: Not?
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Particularly? I mean, I'm not. Honestly, I don't feel good
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: about any of our local coaches. I really don't. Really.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Why are you saying that about Pat Kelsey. I gotta
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: hold my opinion until we see what this team does.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I mean, he's he's won one tournament exactly so, and
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: for the player to the other day to say, well,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I'm I forget what the kid's name is, but he's
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: coming in there because of where Pat Kelsey can take him,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: It's like, what are you talking about? He's one one
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: NCAA game at U of L. He's not taking anybody
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: anywhere now he could.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I mean again, we're I don't really want to speculate
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: it on it any further because I really do just
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: want to see the players on the floor and how
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: it all pans out for every team.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Right, Tyler said, the rats probably were in the fast
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: food last food delivery to the cruise ship. That disgusted
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: me right there. I had a conversation yesterday in Dale
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Roman's office with a gentleman. He was saying, Michael, that's
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: the reason you should always wipe down can drinks when
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: you buy a can drink, rodents have been all over it.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: If not, you could get this virus as well. So
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: there are times I've wiped down my can drink, but
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I would have to say they're not. There are times
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I haven't. I look at him before I wipe him.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: When I was a kid, I never looked at it.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: I just opened up sorry drinking. But now with this pandemic,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: I'm wiping down my can drinks. Even buy can drinks anymore.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I go to the soda found and get that. Are
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: you the same.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Way pretty much? Yeah? I mean occasionally I will get
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: a can drink, but and I never ever wipe it off,
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: but I do always look at it for sure.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: One person said, I think the next thing Pope is
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: going to do is live is a live chat on
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Prodigy and nets or Netscape. Since he's stuck in the nineties,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: man needs to be on the Super Super Retro podcast.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Oh boh, why is Riceroni the San Francisco treat I
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: much prefer the SPINNERNI well geez do comment? Okay, yeah, thanks,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: nice nice text right there. They used to have armadilla
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: races at the State Fair along with the pig races.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Sadly I finished second that year and didn't get a donut.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Wait what.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: They used to have armadilla races at their.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Did you know that you got a donut for winning?
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Evidently he didn't get a donut far it though, because
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: he finished second. One person said, am I blocked? No,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: you're not blocked. Marsho Santos, the player Pope went to
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: see last week in Israel today committed to LSU. Wow, yep,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: thank you Texters. I really appreciate you. Cayle was getting
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: ready to talk about it. Marsho Santos just committed to LSU.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Pope flies to Israel and still can't sign the guy
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: seriously cannot catch a break.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: How much I mean, like, how much money has just
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: been thrown away this offseason, just wasted trip after wasted
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: trip after wasted trip.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: At this point, now, yeah, I'm getting concerned. You know,
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: you see a number of national media members saying Kentucky
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: is in trouble. I just refuse to believe it. I
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: mean I look at and think, Okay, they're just UK haters. Okay,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: they don't really know what you're talking about. Now I'm
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: getting to a point, Michael Bennett, a part of the
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: UK media is getting worried. I am forget getting worried.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: I am worried. I just it's going to be interesting
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: what happens. But there there's a lot of time for
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: him to save himself. But man, you talk to some
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: people out there that are just gonna love Mark Pope
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: to the day they die and aren't going to change,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: and I'm just like, well, you know what, you better
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: figure something out because it's it's it's in the midst
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: of happening right now amongst us, and the fact that
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: he flew all the way to Israel and failed, that's
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: just a really bad luck. And I gotta believe he's
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: really hurting. That's the part I hate, because you know,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: the guy does love UK, the guy does want to succeed,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: and he feels the pain from the fan base. That's
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: the part that I feel really bad about, Mark Pope.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: So anyway, all right, let's go ahead and take a break.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Five O two three four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: call five oh two four to one four fourteen fifty.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: I appreciate those text right there, guys. I appreciate you
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: keeping me up to date on that stuff. So we're
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: gonna take a break a lot more to go. Just
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: the Cats right here.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: You didn't even think as an armadal it was what
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: it was that being done. All that I can do
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: is drive and pray that I was the grounded as.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: An armada gun.
- 1:08:19Speaker 8: Try every morning has a Hello hanging from.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: The corner of my Comforence Horbons bad. I know it's
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: not mine. Bad.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I see if I can use it fther.
- 1:08:51Speaker 8: We get over one night, stam, all.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Right, I want to mix it up a little on
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: this segment of Just the Cats. I don't know if
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: you saw this or not, but you know, Eli Capolo,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: president of the University, went on a listening tour, which
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: I always think is the dumbest idea. Are you really listening?
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Are you listening to what you want to hear? I
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: never really believe when people say they're going in a
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: listening to her that they're in fact really listening, do you?
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: I mean, I just look at it like, well, let
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: me get some facts out there, let me put push
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: my motive out there for people to listen to me.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: It's not really that I'm going to listen to you.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Does feel a little weird that you got to announce
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: that you're listening? Yeah, exactly. I mean, have you not
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: been listening to the rest of the time, Now you're
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: going to listen and you're getting ready to retire, and
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: now you want to go on a listening to her
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: for what? I don't I don't get. This is the
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: one criticism I'm going to give UK right now. And
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: the criticism I'm giving right now is that Mitch Barnhart's leaving,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: and you know President Cappealouto is going to be leaving
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: pretty soon. Why not go ahead and leave now and
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: just let the new president pick the ap director that
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: would be best for the university. Because the new president
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: wants his people in there if you're getting ready to leave.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Nobody wants those people, So nobody. I'm not going to
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: say nobody. I'm sure there's a number of people out
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: there that love to have these jobs. But don't you
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: think it's going to be difficult to hire the people
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: that really should be hired because they don't know who
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: their boss is going to be.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: That's a big concern that and you would just have
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: to be you'd have to concern yourself with is Capaludo
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: doing what's best for the.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: University at this point?
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: No?
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Probably not with his foot one foot out the door exactly.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: So what he has learned on his listening tour is that, uh,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: he's looking at hiring, which might be the dumbest thing
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: I've ever heard a dual athletic director. Do you even
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: like the sound of a dual athlete? And let me
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: describe this a little. I was about to say, what
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: even is that?
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: What he means by this is one focusing on the
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: business aspect of college athletics that includes like the fundraising
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: and while while the other one in the money side
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: of it. While the other one would be managing the coaches,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: the hiring, the firing and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: To me, it's just like, why do that? Don't to me?
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: I would rather have a general manager for each sport,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: and not for every sport but your major sports. So
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: I think Mark Pope needs a manager. Universe Kentucky basketball,
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: I think Will Stein Universe Kentucky football, they need general managers.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: I even I'm to the point now where I believe
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Kenny Brooks needs a manager.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: I don't Kenny Brooks doesn't need anything because he's doing
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: it all on damn self.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: But you know, why wouldn't it be good for him
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: to be out there and have only recruiting and then
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: you have a manager that's out there that is recruiting
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: money for your program. I think women's basketball at Kentucky
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: is becoming more and more relevant and becoming more and
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: more popular and accepted and successful, and in order to
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: keep that and be ahead of the curve, he needs
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: to hire a general manager. I think all three sports should.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: I'm almost to the point where maybe UK baseball needs
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: that too, because Nick Minngeon I don't know if he
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: can balance all that. So I look at it from
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: that aspect. You can't say, let's have a athletic director
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: that's gonna be in charge of the business side of it,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: raising the money, and how's he going to divvy up
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: all the money? He's like, well, you're keeping more popular
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: things going to basketball, more money's going to football. You just, no,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: you need to have those individuals taking care of each
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: individual sport.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Can't you delegate some of this stuff to your assistant coaches?
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Though, No, you need to have one person concentrating on that.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: One thing I've learned in business and that's why I've
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: been successful at business in the past, is because I
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: have individuals that have strengths and weaknesses and identifying those
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: people that have those strengths and putting them in the
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: right job. Assistant coaches are assistant coaches. They're not assistant fundraisers.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: A coach is not a fundraiser. A coach is there
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: mentoring the players, working with the players, trying to get
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: them the next step, and that's playing professionally. They are
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: not fundraisers.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just trying to throw out other ideas
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: because how many times are we going to discuss getting
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: a GM and just it's nothing.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: It's not going to happen. I know. I'm hoping they
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: find somebody out there that recognizes, Hey, guys, we're the
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: University of Kentucky. We're a very successful, historically well organized university.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: And what are we doing. We don't have we don't
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: have any kind of person in charge of the fundraising
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: for these sports. Are you kidding me? Yes? We need
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: to hire good people that want to do this. I mean,
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: look at Duke University now. Duke University, I'm not I
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: don't want to bypass the rest of this conversation yet,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: but Duke University now has made a deal with Netflix
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: to play three games.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Is Netflix or Amazon? Amazon?
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Yeah, you're right Amazon. It's like, good for them.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: I am really envious of what Duke has going on.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: That's a tremendous job right there. Yea, why isn't Kentucky
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: doing the same thing? Because we're not relevant right now?
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Are we still in a position though, or still in
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: a spot with all this stuff that trying to figure
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: out the best way to do things? Like the whole
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Duke deal was like, that's earth shattering. I mean, that's
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: it is.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: That'll be a thing that's breaking for college athletics right there.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: So I just I don't know, I still feel like
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: we're still so new into all this stuff that everyone's
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: still trying to figure out what you can and can't do,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: what's gonna benefit your program, what's gonna hurt it? Well,
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: I can't tell you what's hurting it right now. Not
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: having a GM and not having these type of negotiations
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: with Netflix, with Amazon, with HBO. I mean, that's what
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: UK should be doing. All the blood blue bloods, UK, Kansas,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: North Carolina and Duke the blue bloods. But UK is
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: not even relevant enough to be a part of You
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: forgot Indiana. Oh I'm sorry, they're not a blue blood.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I ranked them down there with U of L. But
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: I just I am surprised by this and then the
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: fact that you're going to do a dual ad who
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: wants to take that job? I don't want to come there,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: and I'm only in charge of part of the athletic department.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Are you getting half the money too? Well, that's a
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: great question. Are you Mitch Barnhardt's making what around nine
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: hundred thousand million dollars a year? Oh? No, he's making
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: over he's making a million two I believe. And you're
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: telling me now we're gonna have two people for one job.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: I think that's a fair question. Are they gonna get
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: five hundred thousand dollars each? Who's gonna take this? I
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: don't want to have a job unless I have full control,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: and I guarantee you everybody that's considering this right now
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: is like, yeah, I'll pass. So we're gonna get some
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: boob in there that's not gonna do a half assed job,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: and guess what, we're gonna be further behind the eight
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: ball again. I don't know.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: I think an opportunity like that sounds intriguing. I mean,
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: I'm still gonna get a half million and I have
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: to do half the work that the last guy did. Man,
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: that sounds intriguing.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Then you're hiring people that really shouldn't have this job.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: You're not getting the krim de la creme of people
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: that should be running the universe sy of Kentucky.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: That's that's the fear. You're definitely not gonna get experienced
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: athletic directors, get two of them to come in and
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: sign up.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: For no, absolutely not. You're getting somebody maybe from a
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: mid major. It's just the dumbest idea I have ever
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: heard in my life. Getting somebody from a mid major
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: can work. Ask Indiana football. You never know, you don't.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: If it's somebody coming in with the right mindset, good ideas,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: you know, you don't know how it's going to play out.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: You don't.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: But I still look at this, this is the egotistical
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Michael Bennett coming out for UK. We're UK. We're not
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: a mid major. I mean we're not even a mid
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Division one team. We are UK.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: I thought you said you didn't have an ego.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Okay, well, egotistical mindel egotistical UK Michael Bennett. Okay, there's
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: a difference there. It's not Michael Bennett, it's egotistical UK.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: Michael bann That's a lot of words right there. It's
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: a lot to spit out. I've just spit all over
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: this thing. I'm sure Mike Rutherford is going to get
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: the lysol on spray down this microphone now every day. Yeah,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: that's so gross to me. I would just rather buy
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: my own phone with a microphone and then some new
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: phone bad. Yeah, Can I go buy some of my
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: own because sometimes I get a little too close to
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: it and then I taste the lightsol. That's even worse.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want to go out and buy four
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: of these that it probably I know.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: I'm buying my own. I'm taking this thing off, putting
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: my own on there, and then when I leave, I'm
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: taking my own off and putting the old crappy one
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: on it. That's so self. My nose is itching like
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: crazy right now. At least buy me one so I
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: can do the same. I'd be happy to do that
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: for it. Are they expensive?
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: No?
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: God, no really? Oh, then I'm going to buy you something.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: Report out of the Athletic saying that Rajon Rondo is
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: one of four. You know, we talked about this last week,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: one of four running for the Pelican's job. He says,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: I know I can do it now. I have the discipline, preparation,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: and obviously it's about having the right people around you.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: He's absolutely correct. I it's it's it's been done before, okay.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: And I think you forget this JJ Reddick, Steve Kerr,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Derek Fisher, and you're forgetting another one,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: Larry Bird. They all never had a head coaching job
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: in their life and took over an NBA team. And yes,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: you're right, some of them were successful. But man, I
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: look at Lebron. Okay, Larry Bird, who did he have?
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: He did a pretty good job at the Pacers, and
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: I will say I became a really big fan of
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: the Pacers when Larry Bird was there, and then he
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: walked away and became the general manager. He was a
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: phenomenal coach, and yet he never had a coaching job
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: in his life.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: Look, I'm not doubting the legitimacy of Rondo potentially coaching
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: one day, but he's not getting this job.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Why not? I said, so, oh oh wow, then we're done.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: It's I hope you were listening to Just the Cats
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: today May sixth, on this Wednesday hump day, because Justin
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Caylin said, it's not happening. That's it. Because I say something,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: you already sound like a parent, just to let you know,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: told you I'd be a good dad. Because I say, so,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: what a horrible comment. This is supposed to be a
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: professional sports show. And you said, because I say so,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: has it been that never? But I like to pretend
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: in my head, Okay, but no, I listen. I I
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: I look at this Rajon Rondo quoted. I read all
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: the end quote. I just kind of put a little
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: bit of the quote on there. He's saying all the
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: right things. Yeah, I mean I would say the right thing.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: I mean, the dude has how many years did you
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: playing in the NBA? Eighteen years, nineteen years?
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Long time?
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Very successful. Don't you think he's been taught by some
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: of the best out there? For sure that he could
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: take all that he has learned?
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: Again, I think Rondo could be a successful NBA coach.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: But he's not getting this job. Man, He's just not.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: And if he does, what are you gonna owe me
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: a third lunch? I'm gonna eat some crow. We can
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: have it, have it. I'm not eating crow, dude, You're
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: gonna get me something. And uh, maybe we'll get handed virus. Yeah, no,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: why would you say. I just heard what you said.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: It took me for a minute. Maybe we'll get hantavirus.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: My goodness, I don't have enough money to supply a
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: ventilator for both of us.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: That's horrible to say. What could happen if you eat crow?
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: One person? No, I think that's a rodent, it's not crow.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: One person said. I I hope the miss on Santos
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: was because Pope didn't see what he wanted when he
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: was there. And LSU overpaid. The guy did score zero
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: points and go oh for four from free throw and
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: the game Pote watched.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: Good point now much to desire there.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: No, there isn't if you go see a player. But
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: you know what, I wouldn't just leave it on one
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: game because he might have known that Pope was there
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: to specifically watch him, and it made him really nervous. Sure,
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: and maybe I still don't want to player that player exactly.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: Is that the type of player you want?
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Probably not? Uh forty eight handily said. When I was
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: training in the desert of New Mexico, I saw Armadillo's
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I was more impressed with the jack rabbits. They were huge, slow,
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: day to day jack rabbits.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: My dad swears up and down the jack rabbits are
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: a real thing.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: Say that again, your dad what he.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: Swears that jack rabbits are a real thing, like the
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: rabbits with antlers.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: Oh that's not called a jack rabbit, is That's what?
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: No, there is.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: There are real jack rabbits. They're bigger than just regular rabbits.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: But there are big There are jack rabbits. They're actually
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: large hairs, Are they really? What's the difference in a
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: hair and a rabbit. Great question. I have no idea.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Here we go. We're gonna take a break and you
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: can find out then, h fort you handle? He said,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: because I said so has been called.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: That's right, he's right.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Because Justin said Sora, Rondo will not get his job.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: You just go ahead and make all your best place
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: your bets out there in Las Vegas. Rondo will not
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: get the job. Nobody can tell me I'm wrong. Uh, well,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: we're gonna tell you you're wrong, and you're gonna hear it,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: and I'm not gonna let that be the end of it.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: So that's that's what's gonna happen right there. We're gonna
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: take a break. When we come back, MLB is looking
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: at a whole thing of realigning all of baseball. What
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: do you think about this? And uh, and we'll talk
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: about who's gonna be playing who in these divisions. So
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: let's stay right there. One more segment of just Cat's
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: coming up on this Wednesday.
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: My garments a bast bad. I know it's not May.
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: I know she thinks she loves me.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: But I never can't believe what she said. Something so deceiving.
- 1:24:14Speaker 8: When you shot believe in turning me around again.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: He said, we couldn't do it.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: You know, I want to do it.
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: I gotta give myself off the side of the rope.
- 1:24:49Speaker 7: I gotta give my silver off the side of the road.
- 1:24:54Speaker 7: The things are looking he has a hippop. I don't
- 1:24:57Speaker 7: know how it land, but I'm again getting myself off
- 1:25:02Speaker 7: the side of the road.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: I got a question a moselle.
- 1:25:06Speaker 7: I led the truth, bitch, Oh, I got quisell.
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: I live the truth.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: You freak me out when you started playing this because
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: I forgot we were talking about that. You're you're all right?
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: So what is your.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: Opinion on this song? Now?
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: I can't ever hear it?
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: Why? Oh really? Okay, yeah, I know, I'm sure I've
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: screwed that up. But you've never heard the guy sing though, right,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: you've never heard the song. I still think it's like,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: oh my gosh, what happened? Did you mess up? Did
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: the computer mess up? Or are we restarting the show?
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Did I miss something?
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: Here?
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: We have another hour and I forgot that. I said,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: you need to play it. So you've done a great job,
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: thank you. But yeah, that was that was fun. I
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: do I like that song. It's just the bass part
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: we hear, we don't hear them saying the course that
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: I'll play on the way outs. Okay, good, Yeah, it's
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: I like it. I like the record company. They have
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: a Now it's not been an overly popular band, but
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: they still tour around. I think they're coming to a
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: littleville sometimes soon.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: I mean, it's a pretty original name, the record Company.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, I get it. Well, it's like the
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Black Keys.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: They mailed that in well, I mean, no Black Keys
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: at least has some originality to it.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: You don't think the record company has originality. Sometimes the
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: most obvious thing is the most original thing.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: Should we name this band? We can't think of a name.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: Come on, all right, it's so boring.
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: You think the Who is a great name for a band,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: it's more original. Then there's another one called the Guess Who.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: And then you have another band called the band, literally
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: called the band that's the exact same as the record
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: But you know, they're one of the more popular bands
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: I think from the sixties and seventies. But their name
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: was the band. They have all all kinds of unbelievable songs.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: It's better than Ambrosia, that's all I say. I like
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: better than a fruit salad. I just can't imagine naming
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: my band a fruit salad. What would your band name
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: be if it's not the Idiots, it would be nut job.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: I think that would be a good band name. Actually
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: like that, dear? Really yeah, I think it could be
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: something like that. Blowhole. I mean because I'm a radio blowhole.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: I mean there could be all kinds of stuff. Yeah,
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: I could come up with great name. I'm convinced of that.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: I'm voting nut job, horse poop. I mean, there could
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: be some horse ones I would want. Nay, oh god, yeah, no,
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: you're getting worse. Okay, we got to move on, all right?
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: Then the Major League Baseball is looking at realigning boom.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: Do you not like it?
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: No?
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: All right, Why it's not gonna happen?
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: Why do you say that? I think there is a
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: strong chance, and there's been a lot of people that
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: are predicting what's going to happen. Is because you know,
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: now you got where you got because Houston, the Astros
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: used to be a part of the American League. Now
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: they switch. Then I'm getting used to Houston being a
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: part of the National League. There's a chance they can
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: move back it's like, what are you doing? Please? Don't
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: keep changing these teams back and forth.
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: I just I don't see a world where we're moving,
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: where we're realigning, unless there's expansion. Well, now that's been
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: talked about. They do want to go up to thirty
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: two teams like the NFL, like, yeah, the kids they
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: got thirty now. Yeah, yeah, they do want to go
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: up to thirty two. And in that scenario, I could
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: see them shuffling some things around, but I don't think
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: it's gonna be dramatic.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: Here's what they're looking at. They'll start with the American League.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: They're going to have a North, South, East, and West.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: North is going to be Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago White Sox
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: and the Twins Minnesota Twins.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: I kind of like that. South is going to be
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: in the American League Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: and the Colorado Rockies. Not really South, but okay, h
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: East is gonna be and this is where I really
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: like it. East is gonna be Boston Red Sox, Orioles, Yankees,
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: and the Blue Jays. No longer does my Tampa Bay
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: Rays have to have that dauntlet of a schedule every
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: single year. The West is gonna be, which is still
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: weird to me, Las Vegas Athletics, the Angels, the Mariners,
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: and expansion team.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: See told you it's not gonna happen unless there's expansion.
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: They're gonna expand they want more money.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: I'm hoping.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Now, let's talk about the National League the North. This
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: is where I got nervous. What's gonna happen to our
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Cincinnati Reds and are we gonna lose the series that
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: we dearly love between two teams? Well, according to this,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: they're saying Cubs Cardinals perfect right there with the Reds
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: and Milwaukee Brewers kind of like that, So.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: We lose the Pirates. I like that. I would rather
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: keep the Pirates.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: Would you really and give up who? Uh?
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: Brewers or collegials?
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:30:12Speaker 7: Uh?
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: South is going to be Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Tampa
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: Bay Rays. I love this, and an expansion team. Clearly
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: they're If you look at this, you think expansion team
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: out West, expansion team in the South. Where do you
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: think those expansion teams will be? We'll talk about that
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: in a minute. East it's going to be Pittsburgh Pirates,
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, and the Nationals. West is
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: going to be the Dodgers, Giants, Padres, Diamondbacks. Fantastic right there.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I love that. I love that one. Uh So, expansion
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: teams out west? Where do you think the expansion team
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: is going to be? Tell me the teams again that
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: are with that expansion team? Las Vegas, La Angels, Mariners.
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: Expansion team West would be Oh, that's kind of tough.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out who it is. Before I
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: would have said Las Vegas while they got the A's. Now,
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: could they be going back to Oakland? I don't think so.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: Could it be another California team? Could it be Portland,
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: San Francisco, the Giants? What are you talking about?
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: That was so dumb? Portland dumbest thing up all morning.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: Portland would be good, Yeah, they ain't think of I
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: think Portland's probably the Ads.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: I think South is pretty obvious. You got the Braves, Marlin's,
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Rays. Where would the expansion team be in
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: the South? I'm thinking New Orleans? Are you really yeah?
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: Because you know Nashville is really trying to make a
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: push for MLB.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, I'd go New Orleans over them.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: I would too, because I don't want Nashville. I have
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: another freaking thing. I just I just you talk about
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: loathing soccer, I'd loathe now about Memphis. Memphis is not good. No,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: they're They're a dying city. Nobody wants to go there.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: I promise you. The NBA is to the point where
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: they want Memphis Grizzlies to leave Memphis and more than
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: likely to go to Nashville. That's what they're looking at,
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: and they will be pushing it within the next five years.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: Teams don't even want to go there and play against them. Now,
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: did you see the video last night of Jared Vanderbilt
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: the Lakers against the But I'm not going to watch it. No,
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: you don't want to watch it. It might be the
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: ugliest thing I've seen in a long time. If you
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: haven't seen it yet, it is worth watching the response
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: from the thunder bench. So what happened is Jared Vanderbilt
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: is going up for a block and against the thunder player.
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: I don't remember who the thunder player was, but his
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: pinky hit the backboard as he was going for the block,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: and they say completely dislocated his pinky. Now, when I.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: When I hear it was completely dislocated, you gotta believe
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: it's either completely back or completely sideways. And the looks
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: that the players from the thunder bench were giving him
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: were absolutely priceless. All of them were. I can't look
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: at this. It was just absolute looks of grotesque.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: This stuff makes me so queasy.
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: Does it really?
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: Does?
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: I feel bad for Jered Vanderbilt. You know, he's out
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: there playing, he's out there producing for the Lakers and
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: doing really well.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: Maybe you shouldn't be so tall.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: Is that what it is?
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: Wouldn't hit your hand on the back park? Yeah, but
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: that's but then you basketball. It's never happened to me.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Well, I just I get to a point that's true. Yeah,
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: it definitely hasn't happened to you.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: Uh but no, I.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: I I feel bad for him. Hopefully, I'm sure they
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: just knocked it back in, but he's probably going to
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: be out there. You think, oh, that's just good. All right?
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: Did you see the brawl brawl in Mississippi? What between a.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: H Are we bringing this up with one minute? Okay?
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Should I save it for tomorrow?
- 1:33:51Speaker 6: No?
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Because now I have to know it's it's the brawl
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: between the uht A U fourteen baseball game down in
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: Mississippi between uh a co who happens to be a
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: deputy sheriff and an umpire, and I mean it is
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: a fight. They don't show the whole brawl. They only
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: show the deputy knocking the heck out of the empire.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: But evidently the umpire made the first swing. So me
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: A's coach is way bigger than the umpire. Yeah, but
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: bite somebody of your own size, buddy. But but here's
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: the thing. The umpire, they say, made the first swing,
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: so the coach was going after him. It doesn't matter
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: which way it went. It's a bad look for baseball
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: and youth baseball.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: And you got the kids getting involved yet Oh yeah,
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: it was just an ugly scene.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: If you haven't seen that, go check it out. It's
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: a you know, I don't know. I'm fascinated by those
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: kinds of things. So anyway, I think it's sad, especially
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: when you're trying to be out there and being mentors
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: for kids and you're out there in a fight yourself.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: Yeah. I just I hated that for the kids. I
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: hate that for the families that had to be forced
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: to be involved in something like that. But the deputy
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: schiff is probably gonna lose his job over this, which
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: is you know, you just changed your career right there
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: in a matter of second. So all right, everyboy appreciate
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: you listening. Fun show today. We'll see them on just
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: a cast
